Korean language Wedding Custom
Tumblr media
The wedding wedding in Korea is quite short as compared to many other civilizations. Most Korean language weddings are only under a 50 % hour, and the ceremony is generally presided more than by a great officiant and an MC. This is because the couple prioritizes the guests’ enjoyment time. Pertaining to https://mashable.com/article/dating-app-messages-tips-examples model, they will typically skip the flower young women and hoop bearer, and a meal will be served right after the wedding. This means that right now there isn’t enough time for remarkable speeches, a song effectiveness, or a big entrance.
The first thing to know about korean wedding party custom is that the wedding couple will not enter the ceremony together. Instead, both equally value packs of parents can walk in separately. The mom of the bride-to-be will carry a purple candle plus the mother with the groom is going to carry a blue candlestick. These colors represent the balance of yin and yang in nature. They also represent each families’ oneness.
Throughout this processional, the officiant might explain precisely what is going on. Then, the mother of this bride plus the mother for the groom definitely will walk up into a platform in which they will lumination the candles. Then a father belonging to the bride as well as the father with the groom will need their spots on either side within the few.
After the mothers have taken their spots, the star of the event south korean girls will be escorted over the aisle by simply her dad or a close male general. The groom’s family group will then follow the bride to the altar, wherever they will recite their marriage vows. After the groom’s father and mother have recited their promises, they will bow to the bride’s mother, and next the few will ribbon and bow to each other within a ceremony referred to as kunbere. The few will then sip jung jong (Korean wine) from gourds which are grown by bride’s mom, and this closes their marriage vow.
Tumblr media
In the past, matchmakers would prepare brides and grooms based upon their education level, interpersonal position, and family tree. If the new bride and groom’s families permitted of this plan, they would in that case send a marriage proposal for the other party’s family, exactly who could accept or reject it. In the event the bride and groom had been approved, they would frequently then exchange gifts throughout a ceremony at the bride’s residence known as pye-baek. This included chestnuts and dates, which will represented children, as well as a distinctive wine the fact that bride’s mom poured into a gourd. The bride and groom would definitely then drink the wine and bow for their parents, as a means of exhibiting respect for each other and their father and mother.
Days and nights before the wedding, the soon-to-be husband the only person or along with his friends brings gifts to the bride’s parents. These gifts are placed within a box known as hahm, plus the parents are not able to start the hahm until they will treat the gift giver. These gifts can be very expensive, including money and jewelry. In past times, this was a method to demonstrate the value of the parent-child relationship and have absolutely the bride’s relatives that their particular son or daughter is certainly marrying well. Today, this ceremony is sometimes incorporated into the Paebaek or perhaps takes place during the reception following the couple’s guests have completed their puddings.

Purple~ May I have an MC appreciation, Aether or Lumine (both?). Maybe reader is with MC the time they reunite with their sibling. The walk back is silent. And maybe at the end of the day when they finally reach home, MC just breaks down.
Thank you.
Also, I absolutely love Venti! He's the reason behind why I paid for a game for the first time in my life. Got Diluc (i was also ecstatic!) but I was so in love with Venti I just had to. So i threw everything out the window and paid 15 dollars. A true gamble because i was nowhere near pity.
Purple is my favourite colour, it’s like if you asked me to explain how I experience my gender it is literally the colour purple lmao. Me too, I spent like £15 on Venti too because I desperately love him, but as I’ve had him I realise I also desperately kin him. I am waiting for Diluc to come home, but the next 5* I pull will be one from an event (I’m hoping Kazuha but Eula and Klee are fine too)
Anyway my ramble is over
I’m making Aether the MC because I use him and I love him, hope you don’t mind lmao
Also hi Genshin Impact story, it is literally out the window right now
Pairings; suggested Aether x reader, but focuses on Aether and Lumine’
Warning(s); angst(?)
Keep reading under the cut!
Finally finding Aethers sister in the depths of Khaenri'ah was certainly wasn’t something you had expected. Especially after the years of looking for Lumine, Aether mentions to you how different she looks. Not so much in age, as both Aether and Lumine have kept their forms for many year, but more in insight. Maybe this is the way Lumine looks at Aether now. Aether has spent 5 years without his sibling.
Aether looks to you and you smile back at him trying to give him as much confidence as you can so he can talk to his sister.
“Lumine. How..” he pauses for a second “How are you?” he asks stepping forwards to his sibling. She smiles and looks down to her hands.
“It’s been quiet” she says with a soft smile “There aren’t many people about  Khaenri'ah, I’ve been mainly helping people rebuild” she explains gesturing to the small town behind her, Aether nods.
“How long have you been here?” you ask, Lumine smiles
“five-hunded years” she replies. You blink a few times. You feel Aether stiffen behind you.
The two talk for a few hours, Lumine takes the two of you about the Khaenri'an town, she introduces you to the citizens who seem to view her as some kind of saviour. A handful of children run up to her and give her a few native flowers. Lumine smiles kindly before sending the children off.
“Have you heard about what the archons did to Khaenri'ah?” Lumine asks looking from the children to Aether. The man nods with a sigh.
“Yeah, it certainty was an ordeal” he responds “I wish I was there to help you” he looks down, you place a hand on Aethers shoulder. Lumine looks down to her hands and nods.
“I’ve been through so much on this world” she jests before looking to her brother “You know it’s weird seeing you after all this time” she adds with a smile. Aether nods
“It’s been much less time for me, but it’s also a little weird for me” Aether confesses “I think this is the longest period of time that I’ve been away from you” he adds “You seem to have make a life here” he says gesturing to the area around him. Lumine nods
“Hm, it’s a long life I’ve lived here” she responds “Although it’s only recently that this town has developed” she adds with a reminiscing smile. “I hope you’ve also made a life here Aether” she offers. Aether nods and looks to you with a smile
“For the last five years I have had great company” he replies, you smile back at Aether “Not just [name] here, but I’ve made many friends across Teyvat” he adds placing a hand in your hand. Lumine smiles happily at her brother.
“I’m happy you found companionship Aether” she says genuinely.
You and Aether stay around the town for the next few days. While Lumine seems to not want to leave Khaenri'ah, Aether has mentioned several times to you several times that he wants to continue exploring every crevice of Teyvat. The idea of leaving the country now feels wrong, Aether has friends to have jolly times with, you to love, a sister that feels so distant that it’d be a little weird for him to suddenly run back with his sibling.
The bond that Aether and Lumine had have broken thanks to the years apart. Suddenly going off with someone that feels like a stranger doesn’t feel right. He needs to spend more time with his sister again before running off.
“Morning Aether” you greet seeing your partner rising from bed, Aether has bags under his eyes “Have you not slept?” you ask, Aether shakes his head
“No,” he responds “It’s just I thought this reunion would be a little different...” Aether trails off
“Like everything would be the same as before?” you offer, Aether nods. You nod “I think the time apart has changed the both of you. Aether five years ago is a very different Aether to now. I’m sure over the five hundred years Lumine has changed lots. You’ve both learnt how to live without each other” you explain putting a hand on Aethers back, he leans into your touch.
“I think, I need to think about it more” he tells you, you smile and nod
“Take as much time as you need my dear, I’ll be right here for you” you console before giving him a kiss on his cheek

I haven't seen anyone do it yet, so ... (Maybe it's already been done, but when in doubt, I'll help). Our dear boys sorted into the houses of Hogwarts!
Dorm leaders:
Riddle: It kind of reminds me of Hermione in her first year. He's reckless and doesn't lack courage (And God knows how much it takes with the duo Adeuce in charge). So for me it will be Gryffindor.
Leona: Slytherin! Do I really need to explain why? This man is so ambitious and cunning! The Sorting Hat would have barely grazed his head when he would have already said "Slytherin!"
Azul: I'm shared with him. For me, he would tend to be a fuzzy hat. He should have chosen between Ravenclaw and Slytherin. He is not lacking in cunning and he is as ambitious as Hell, but above all he shows a great desire for learning and creativity (especially for his contracts). So this time, I'm thinking of sending it to Ravenclaw.
Kalim: It may be surprising, many would see it in Hufflepuff, but for my part, I see it very well in Ravenclaw. Let me explain, although he looks naive, he doesn't quite have it in reality, Kalim can be wise in some ways. And creativity too, not to mention that he still accepts Jamil after his attempt at "Corruption" (I have no other words in mind for that, sorry 😭) and one of the traits of Ravenclaw is the acceptance.
Vil: Hufflepuff. Vil is a relentless worker, he shows enough patience, and his judgment can seem fair enough in his judgment.
Idia: Slytherin. He has a pretty strong self-preservation instinct, though he might think his creatures are pretty ambitious, he's very smart and I'll be honest, the vibe of the Slytherin Common Room suits him pretty well.
Malleus: ... I would have said Slytherin because he has a lot of pride but I find that it does not correspond entirely to him (And if he was in the same House as Leona, we would find the Common Room in a war field every morning, then ..). So I'll say Ravenclaw, his old age has probably given him a lot of wisdom, he learns very quickly and well, he is very, very intelligent and does not lack wit.
The Vice-Leaders:
Trey: Hufflepuff. It totally fits this House and the most important point, the kitchens of Hogwarts! I see him so much baking pastries with the House Elves and then sharing his creatures with his comrades!
Ruggie: Really? Slytherin. He would be the kind of student who played Quidditch and sabotaged the opposing team like it was routine or took points away from his other comrades so he could win the Cup.
Jade: ... You know exactly what I'm going to say, Slytherin. I'm sorry but he gives me way too many of the vibes of Tom Riddle when he was young (handsome) and "innocent". It is as if he has a luminous sign with "Slytherin" writing hanging above his head.
Jamil: Slytherin and I think we'll all agree on that.
Rook: Gryffindor! This guy has a foolproof daring! In addition, I see him totally disobeying the school rules to go to the Forbidden Forest.
Ortho: Our cute creme brulee would totally go to Ravenclaw.
Lilia: Gryffindor, for chivalrous spirit, daring and determination. (And let's not hide it, he gives so much vibes to Weasley Twins or Marauders, I see him making so many jokes to other students and poor teachers)
Our other boys:
Ace: Gryffindor and he makes Riddle want to s 'pull out the hair. Probably did like Seamus Finigan in his first spell class and detonated something or set someone's hair on fire. He's the one who manages to make Gryffindor lose half of the points in not even two weeks and who probably most often scoured the cauldrons or the trophies of the school to such an extent that the dust and the grime never time to settle there.
Deuce: He may not be very patient, but he has a pretty good sense of justice and modesty. Despite his difficulties, he is still a hard worker willing to do anything to make his mother proud of him. And he's very loyal to his friends (even when they're boring). So, Hufflepuff!
Cater: I would be tempted to put it in Gryffindor (Because it has a little side that reminds me of Sirius Black as a teenager). But our dear Cater is cunning and he hides it very well behind his smiles, I put him in Slytherin.
Jack: Jack is for fairness, he is a hard worker who never rests on his efforts, he is fair, loyal, and modest despite what he tries to make people believe. It's perfect for Hufflepuff.
Floyd: He's too reckless for his own good. Would totally accompany Rook in his explorations of the Forbidden Forest and is insanely reckless. He has no instinct for self-preservation. Gryffindor.
Epel: Gryffindor. He's daring if given the chance, he's impulsive and will certainly drop Gryffindor a few points if Vil isn't around to watch him. Could totally help Lilia on occasion with his pranks, it would be a way for him to be a little more himself and to have fun when Vil is not looking.
Sebek: Gryffindor! He is so impulsive, determined and let's not forget, chivalrous in spirit! Not to mention that he is courageous and determined.
Silver: Gryffindor for him too. For the chivalrous spirit and courage.
My MC /OC /YUU: Hufflepuff (This is also my home)

Act 3, complete
........but was anything of worth achieved.
Speaking directly, Ayaka, Kokomi and their groups were functionally pointless. Sara was largely meaningless as well, since she got knocked out off screen after charging off. We didn’t even see her interact with the Shogun. Sayu’s presence is even more of a pointless cameo.
The entire Fatui subplot was that they somehow convinced the Shogun to start the Vision Hunt, which they wanted in order to drive up demand for Delusions among the resistance forces. What they wanted to achieve with this is completely unclear. They weren’t getting paid.
They also struck up a deal with the Tenryou and Kanjou Commissions, but this is irrelevant. Sara never even gets to confront the shogun about the tampered reports to her, and Ei herself is apparently fully aware of what’s going on. She just doesn’t care until the souls of everyone who had their visions taken gave us the power to beat her up.
Signora went out on a whimper. I can now say with certainty that knowing Genshin lore outright makes experiencing the story worse lol
In fact, the gnosis wasn’t even with the Shogun. Ei couldn’t keep it in the puppet body, so she gave it to Yae, who just directly handed it over to Scaramouche to make him leave.
Kazuha’s scene...... I mean, I can see the premise, but this would require developing anything at all regarding Kazuha first, like his connection to the Traveler, even his emotions about his friend’s passing. Kazuha hasn’t managed to emote anything this whole time, so this really doesn’t do anything as far as emotional payoff goes. Story-wise, the scene has no purpose. It’s also the ONLY time he appears in this act.
So that just leaves the... “main” storyline in regard to Ei, the Raiden Shogun.
It is even more shockingly slapdash than Liyue. Liyue’s weird political intrigue that Mihoyo didn’t bother actually writing out was annoying to go through, but the basic plot is kind of... something, at least. The details are nonsensical, but the premise can be understood.
Inazuma? lol
So to put it plainly, the Electro Archon Ei lost too many people and decide she didn’t want deal with life anymore. So she sealed herself away inside her mind and left behind a puppet body to do her duties. She was aware of the Fatui manipulating her puppet’s single-minded focus on eternity and of the damage being done to Inazuma’s people, but she decided it was acceptable. People are better off without ambitions, and everyone who dies in the civil war... well, sucks for them.
Yae, a fox envoy and her old friend, came up with the plan to use the Traveler to confront Ei inside her mindscape. This is because Ei previously dragged the Traveler in due to... them being somehow contradictory to eternity? This part is nonsense, but MC super powers, I guess.
Reasoning with Ei is useless, and fighting her is impossible. However, all the ambitions collected within the statue channel through the Traveler, giving them the power to defeat Ei. After being beaten up, she listens to Yae’s word salad about how an eternally unchanging nation is pointless and how people sometimes don’t even want a god anymore. She opens up her heart again (???) and rescinds the Vision Hunt Decree.
Everyone is happy :)
So to summarize, we got played by the locals again. The Fatui plans were useless but still somehow got what they wanted. Humans can simultaneously surpass the expectations of god but also won’t be living without gods because that wouldn’t be cool anymore and also the human characters accomplish nothing of meaning.
Some scattered notes, most of which come from the traditional Q&A of all the things the writing team couldn’t fit into the actual storyline:
The Sangonomiya army have had their Visions taken. That... sure is a thing, considering none of them seem to be suffering from the effects of that, and Gorou and Kokomi certainly still have their Visions.
Lumine TALKS???
Scaramouche is superior in strength to Signora. And we’re treating fighting Signora as some big scary thing, but like... we already supposedly beat Childe. We bragged about it. More than once.
The Shogun puppet body was built with knowledge lost to time. There was a prototype created before the current body. This is Scaramouche...
The OG Baal, who won the Archn War, was named Makoto. She was Ei’s twin sister. Ei originally acted as her kagemusha. Her other name is Beelzebub. They ruled jointly, and few were aware that there were two of them.
Makoto died several hundred years ago in a war that Yae didn’t participate in. This is implied to be Khaenri’ah’s destruction....? Ei changed after losing her sister. This entire storyline hinges on a character we don’t even find out about until the very last scene.
Why does Yae say she’s going to use her resources and Ayato’s Shuumatsubun to search for our sibling? They’re with the Abyss Order. We already know this.
Lesser Lord Kusanali is the deity whom the people of Sumeru worship. She is female. Wait, weren’t we previously told that the Dendro Archon is male???
If you had expectations about any of the below points, joke is on you:
who the Omnipresent God statue is supposed to depict
why Electro Visions stopped being given out
Signora’s identity being relevant in any way
Scaramouche’s identity being relevant in any way
Scaramouche and Baal having any interaction or connection
Yae’s identity in any detail
any of the lore characters appearing
the puppet’s will or existence mattering except as a placeholder
Watatsumi and Seirai lore mattering
etc

***SPOILERS*** THIS POST CONTAINS HEAVY SPOILERS FOR CONTENT NOT YET RELEASED ON EN SERVER!!! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!***
For previous translations of chapter 21: Part 1/ Part 2/ Part 3
[Crazy Cube]
While I stood on the sidewalk thinking about how to resume communication with Helios, a fast-moving figure in the distance caught my attention.
Helios’ body was covered in dust and his clothes were stained with blood but he was still very distinct.
Tumblr media
When he saw me, those blue pupils lit up instantly.
I chose the right one!
Suddenly, the cars in front of him turned sharply, accelerating in his direction.
Tumblr media
MC: Look out!!
Helios reacted quickly and escaped without harm.
But more and more cars seemed to be purposely targeting him, recklessly charging at him.
I couldn’t help but think of the sound of heavy objects on the ground I heard from earlier.
Does the culprit not only want to separate us but also want to kill him…?!
I tried to run towards him but as my feet touched the zebra crossing—
Tumblr media
Helios: Stay where you are!
He didn’t say anything more, only the wind and the harsh sound of tires screeching came from the other side of the road.
From a distance, those car taillights cut through the night like sharp blades, leaving bloodstains in their wake.
It was like spreading out a huge iron net, trapping Helios in it and trying to crush him fiercely.
Only Helios was faster. He steadily jumped onto the fast-moving car.
Tumblr media
He knelt on the front hood with one knee, picked up a buckle and smashed the windshield forcefully. His actions caused the car to freeze for a moment and then he raised a mocking smile.
MC: What happened?
Helios: These are driverless cars.
Helios: Since there’s no people, it’s better to solve.
He leapt sideways off the front of the car. His body moving at lightning speed—
Like a silver phantom, traveling freely within the high-speed machinery.
As he moved, all the cars kept crashing into each other.
Helios was like a flexible silver wire, guiding these unmanned cars together, causing continuous collisions.
Finally, Helios’ feet landed steadily in the middle of the crossroad and the anxiety in my heart was instantly lifted.
Countless car lights fell on him, shining brightly.
Tumblr media
MC: Helios!
Although I knew he thought of a plan, my heart couldn’t help but speed up.
Helios: I’m tired of all this running.
He lowered his center of gravity slightly and leaped up just when the cars on all sides were about to ram into him. He threw out a buckle attached to a rope and wrapped it tightly around the top of a traffic light.
Helios swung along and hovered in the air.
Numerous cars slammed into each other in an instant, completely blocking the crossroads.
However, before I could do anything, a sense of dizziness suddenly came over me. The space in front of me was different from the previous rotation and became distorted.
An inexplicable suction pulls me back.
Tumblr media
Helios: MC!
I fell back in a daze and only saw Helios running towards me nervously.
Tumblr media
MC: I…
I want to open my mouth and say something. My outstretched fingers went through Helios’ hand and my whole body passed through his body—
I saw his eyes widen in horror, slowly being swallowed by the black mist.
When I opened my eyes again, I found myself slumped against a fountain.
I gasped, feeling a little stupefied for a moment.
And sitting off to the side was a man who looked a little weak. A luminous Rubik’s Cube was suspended in his hand.
I carefully examined the man in front of me and when I recalled Helios’ previous conjectures about the different spaces, everything seemed to make sense.
Tumblr media
MC: You’re the one who’s been manipulating the space in this hotel, right? Who are you?
Hearing my question, the man suddenly raised his head. His eyes were full of madness and unwillingness. His teeth clenched together, making a horrible sound.
Branded on his calf was a glittering snake tattoo.
Sure enough, he’s from GR!
??: That man is such an eyesore.
The man’s eyes kept turning in his sockets, strange and terrifying. His fingers kept shaking uncontrollably as he turned the cube.
That Rubik’s Cube is the key.
I propped myself up and grabbed the anesthesia gun hidden in my pocket, waiting for the perfect time to attack.
But all of a sudden, a huge pain came from behind me and someone immediately bound my hands.
The intense pain pierced my nerves, making me break out in a cold sweat instantly. My entire body was trembling constantly.
The man gave me an indifferent glance and continued to spin the Rubik’s Cube in his hand.
??: As long as I want to, he will never escape from my grasp.
Hearing such ridiculous words, I scoffed coldly.
Tumblr media
MC: You underestimate him too much.
As I spoke, the Rubik’s Cube suspended between his hands began to pulsate slightly.
As if being pulled by something, it flew out from the man’s hands and rolled onto the ground.
He seemed to have never experienced such a thing before as he motionlessly watched the Rubik’s Cube on the ground.
The vibrations are getting bigger and bigger. It looked like something huge was coming out from it, pushing each square continuously outward with a strong thrust.
The blue light from the square is also flashing irregularly and the gap between the squares is becoming even bigger—
??: Wa-wait…!!
As the man wailed, the entire Rubik’s Cube exploded with a dazzling light.
Individual cubes fell one by one and scattered in different corners of the garden.
A piece of the shattered cube fell in front of me and then a rush of wind passed over my head, knocking the person who was originally behind me aside.
I was gently turned around and was trapped in a sweaty embrace.
The obsidian ring shone dimly on the hand covering my arm.
Tumblr media
Helios: I’m late.
[Love and Wishes]
Tumblr media
Helios: This won’t do.
MC: It’s fine.
I took Helios by the hand and walked into the depths of the garden. His brows furrowed, staring at my right hand.
Tumblr media
Helios: This kind of simple treatment…
Tumblr media
MC: This simple treatment is enough! I promise you that Ill go to the hospital after the everything is over!
After the Rubik’s Cube exploded, the helpless man who controlled it was dealt with. Helios just gave an annoying look and didn’t pay much attention to him.
And those people who were taken into different dimensions appeared one after another in the building of this garden. Everyone was at a loss as to what happened.
MC: I suspect that the old man must still be somewhere in this garden.
MC: The person controlling the Rubik’s Cube certainly didn’t expect that we would break free. Therefore, he definitely can’t be too far.
Tumblr media
MC: So we can’t waste any time!
Seeing my reasoning, Helios smiled without anger.
Tumblr media
Helios: I didn’t know you still had this side of you.
Tumblr media
MC: Me neither.
I shook my head at him and searched the entire garden.
Finally, the old man was found in the attic of a small two-story building.
The old man was a little nervous upon seeing us. He cowered and raised his head.
MC: Grandpa, don’t worry. We’re good people!
Not knowing what to say, I subconsciously said something silly. Sure enough, a snicker came from behind me.
But when I turned my head to look, Helios had changed back to a calm face.
Tumblr media
Helios: Leave here first and explain later.
I went to a nearby hospital to quickly treated my arm and returned with Helios to one of his secret bases.
Tumblr media
The old man quivered in the corner, looking out the window blankly, with hopelessness in his eyes.
MC: Grandpa, can you tell us what happened?
The old man was still looking out the window, his mouth slightly opened.
Old Man: I’m…not an old man.
I blinked and looked at Helios who was sitting to the side.
Helios: What are you?
Old Man: My name is Shen Dong….22 years old this year.
He said this sentence lightly was instantly submerged by the wind howling outside the window.
MC: …..?
Tumblr media
MC: 22 years old??
I stared wide-eyed in shock, looking at the thin and frail old man in front of me….thinking for a while that I must have misheard him.
Shen Dong lifted his heavy eyelids laboriously. They were filled with hatred except he didn’t have any strength, sitting there like a dead tree.
Shen Dong: I’m an Evolver…
Shen Dong: I can remove a person’s Evol and replace it with an already existing Evol in my body. Then, it becomes my own.
MC: ….So it’s equivalent to you just taking away other people’s abilities? Then the ability that you lost disappears?
Shen Dong: Yes.
I wondered suspiciously. So GR did this just to make people who have Evol lose it?
Shen Dong ignored my bewildered gaze and continued talking to no one in particular.
Maybe he has been silent for so long, it didn’t matter who it was at this moment. It didn’t matter how it will impact or what assistance it will provide in the future, he just wanted to get it all off his chest.
Shen Dong: As to why I became like this…
He looked at his raised hand sarcastically, with no light remaining in his eyes.
Tumblr media
Helios: It’s related to using Evol.
Helios said this nonchalantly without any emotion on his face.
Shen Dong nodded.
Shen Dong: I don’t know how but when I use Evol, my body seems to get older.
Shen Dong: And then age faster and faster….faster and faster….
Shen Dong: In the end, I became what I am now.
Helios: If that’s the case, why do use your abilities?
Shen Dong: Do you think I want to!!
He yelled. His voice filled the room instantly.
Shen Dong: …They have….my lover.
Shen Dong: If I don’t listen to them…they will kill her.
Helios: They captured her?
Shen Dong: No…they only give me pictures of her every day.
Shen Dong: She doesn’t even know about all of this…
Shen Dong: She’s been waiting for me to come back.
He looked out the window and didn’t even have much strength to sit up straighter.
In that dark room, he sits there every day, taking other’s Evol over and over again.
Watching himself grow old little by little.
I clenched my hands subconsciously and looked at Shen Dong unbearably.
Tumblr media
MC: Sorry, I still have to ask something about GR but if you don’t want to say it, then you don’t have to answer me.
MC: Do you know about the Wish Club…?
Shen Dong narrowed his eyes and nodded slowly.
Shen Dong: Those people are different from the ones at the Wish Hotel. They were forced to have their Evol extracted from them.
Shen Dong: As a price of debt.
As soon as he said this, Helios brought a key over.
His whole body was covered with a heavy layer of frost and his eyes were cold.
Tumblr media
Helios: This is the room key. You look after him here.
Helios: I’m going to deal with some things. I’ll be back soon.
I looked at Helios deeply, took the key, and watched him walk out the door with heavy steps.
Shen Dong seemed very tired and lifted his eyelids.
Thinking of his experience during this time, I asked softly.
MC: You rest here first, okay?
His eyes trembled suddenly, as if thinking of something. He raised his head and looked at me.
Shen Dong: Looking at your check-in information, you’re an Evolver that deals with memory?
MC: Yeah, what about it?
Shen Dong: Nothing…
He avoids my eyes unnaturally. Considering the state of his body, I have the upper hand.
MC: Are you okay? If you’re uncomfortable, you can tell me.
Shen Dong shifted his eyes back. They were full of pain and suffering.
Shen Dong: …Do you think I can go back to how I was?
His question left me a little speechless for a while. I pressed my lips together and looked at his wrinkled face.
Tumblr media
MC: I don’t know.
MC: But I think…even if there is only a glimmer of hope, you can’t give up.
MC: If you press on, maybe one day in the future, you can get back your original body!
Shen Dong: Maybe?
He smiled softly. His gaze seemed to pass through the eaves, over the endless streets and crowds, and land in a very distant place.
Shen Dong: Can I…hold your hand?
Shen Dong: It’s been too long….since I’ve touched anyone in a normal way.
I was stunned for a moment. Seeing him raise his hand slowly, I stretched out both hands without thinking.
I didn’t say anything.
I knew that for him, all words were powerless.
I only hope I can give him more strength.
Shen Dong: …I’m so sorry.
MC: Huh?
In the next second, the surroundings began to spin. My vision became blurred and I felt the power slowly fading from my body.
Shen Dong: I’m really sorry….
His apologies kept ringing in my ears. My vision was gradually swallowed by darkness and only his last cry was heard before I lost consciousness.
Shen Dong: I don’t have much time…
I don’t know how long time has passed. There seemed to be someone faintly shaking my body.
??: MC!
An urgent voice came to my ears, calling my name again and again.
I reluctantly opened my heavy eyelids. Things were in and out of focus but I seemed to see a blue sea.
Tumblr media
I struggled to raise my hand and gently brushed away the messy silver hair that covered my eyes.
MC: Sorry….I seemed to have messed things up.
Helios: It’s not your fault.
Helios: Are you all right?
I nodded, trying to sit up, but realized that I was really weak and there felt like a force in my body that had disappeared.
I looked around and saw no sign of Shen Dong.
Tumblr media
Helios: He’s not here anymore.
MC: That’s right…just now he asked me to hold his hand and then I lost consciousness.
I looked at Helios in a daze and hesitated to say what I was thinking.
MC: …My Evol seems to have disappeared.
When Helios heard this, his face fell.
Helios: Try to use your abilities on me.
I slowly raised my hand and snapped my fingers at him.
There was no reaction. No matter how hard I tried, it was useless.
Helios immediately took out the microcomputer, tapping a code quickly with his fingers.
After a while, the window on the screen suddenly zoomed in. An old man got out of a car and walked towards a pathway.
MC: Where is he going?
On the screen, Shen Dong stumbled along. His strength no longer enough to make him go any further.
Exhausted from walking, he leaned on the tree trunk beside him panting. His whole body shook, then he set off again.
Helios’ eyes narrowed slightly.
Helios: He’s going back.
Tumblr media
When we hurried over, Shen Dong and a strange girl were sitting on a bench among the flowers.
Countless flowers and branches gently made noises in the wind. The world is beautiful and quiet.
Shen Dong’s joyful smile and the girl with tears on her face formed a sharp contrast.
Girl: Seeing you now, I always feel like I’ve been waiting for you for a long, long time.
Girl: It seems like I’ve also become an old woman myself.
The girl didn’t seem to want to cry anymore. She only raised a smile for half a second and then immediately wiped away the tears she couldn’t help but shed.
Girl: Sorry...what should I do?
The girl looked like she finally collapsed. She gripped her skirt tightly to prevent herself from crying.
Shen Dong’s fingers gently touched her face as if he was touching the most unique treasure in the world.
Shen Dong: I came to tell you that I did not forget the agreement with you.
Shen Dong: I’ve come back.
He gently wiped the girl’s tears and kissed her nose.
Shen Dong: However, those other agreements may be impossible.
Shen Dong: Although we agreed we won’t miss every winter in our future lives, but it seems it will be somewhat difficult.
Girl: What do you mean….
Shen Dong: Just treat it as…an early end to an ordinary winter.
After speaking, the old man raised his hand and snapped his fingers in front of her.

A Stellar Collision (Zoey x Mc)
Summary: Zoey and Bea encounter each other one night in Paris. A stellar collision takes place.
French Zoey??? I say yes. I nerded the hell out with this fic, but I think it’s amazing and beautiful.
Word Count: 1.9k
Zoey Club: @samanthadalton @penda-bear @robintora @satrinadia @tyrils-star @brycesgirl @gay-dinosaur-banana-milk-carton
Stellar Collision; ‘A stellar collision is the coming together of two stars caused by stellar dynamics within a star cluster’
                                                        ***
Paris, France. Bea never thought that she’d travel alone, but here she was standing in front of the Eiffel Tower under the moonlight. This particular night was more magical than ever, the stars covered the sky like a light show. She gazed up at the celestial bodies that casted a heavenly glow on her face and smiled. France. She was really here.
“Oh that’s perfect! Stay just like that..”
A low voice startles Bea out of her thoughts as she yelps at the intruding stranger. “Oh my god you scared me!” The woman in front of her..who is insanely good looking, (very nice observation Bea), clamps her hand over her mouth to stop a giggle. She looked absolutely divine, Bea thought. Nothing compared to the stars.
“Forgive me miss! Or...er I didn’t get your name?” Her honey-filled, thick accent reminded Bea of a harmony probably only played at the gates of heaven. It took a few minutes for her to stop staring shamelessly, eyes wandering every inch of the mystery woman until it stopped at the paintbrush in her hand. Her face felt hot as she looked up directly into the stranger’s deep brown eyes, who winked in return. “...It’s Bea...or..honey...darling maybe?” Wow so smooth.
The brunette internally cringed at her attempt to seduce the stranger, but she was caught off guard by the sweet laugh earned in response.
“Ah..well darling it is. You may have the privilege of calling me Zoey. Zoey Wade.” The darker woman grinned brightly, a pearly white smile contrasting her purple shade of lipstick. She wore a white long sleeve turtleneck which was neatly tucked into a tight, perfect fitting leather skirt. Her beret matched the color of her lips, and a nice pair of Louboutin black patent leather pumps were on her feet. Zoey was drop dead gorgeous, and she knew that. She could tell how attracted Bea was by the way her mouth hung open. Nice job Bea.
The brunette raised a single eyebrow in curiosity, “privilege huh? I’ll say…” She cleared her throat and straightened up, “well what I meant to ask was...what were you saying earlier? Before I jumped out of my boots.” Zoey peered down at her paintbrush and back to the woman in front of her amusingly. “Oh yes well, I like to take part in street art occasionally when I’m not in the studio or managing a fashion week.” Oh so she must be a fashion designer? Well of course she is Bea, look at her.
“...and the way you gaze up at the stars reminds me of a certain love and intensity, I just had to capture it on my aisle.” Zoey gestures towards her setup behind her which went unnoticed by the brunette. In fact, everything was quite a blur for Bea in the moment. Uhhh earth to Bea Hughes? The most beautiful woman in the world is talking to you, the least you could do is respond. Zoey smiles silently, patiently waiting for the flustered girl to ground herself, once more. And when she does, the only word she can muster is, “..wow.”
“Wow? But I haven’t even begun to paint you yet my darling! I think you would be quite satisfied with the results but only if you listen to my wishes.”
And so Bea did. She looked up at the sky again and relaxed her shoulders, a blissful feeling already beginning to surround her. The stars looked different now, she couldn’t focus as much, but when she did, Bea swore there was a faint outline of the darker woman’s features up in the sky. Maybe she was going crazy. Or maybe she just couldn’t get her out of her mind. The pair stood in comfortable silence as Zoey painted away, stopping occasionally to “study” Bea’s eyes, lips, and volumized curls. It’s all part of the technique. The brunette felt self conscious whenever she caught Zoey staring but it would immediately melt when their gazes connected, a feeling of warmth and affection fluttering like butterflies in her stomach.
“So... Zoey right? That doesn’t sound very French.”
The darker woman stroked her brush against the aisle skillfully, a light chuckle escaping her lips. “Indeed. My father was actually American, and well being his only child, he did the honours. My mother wanted to name me Zoé, (pronounced zaw-eh) but father already figured I’d have so much of my french roots and he wanted to contribute to at least something.” Zoey concentrates thoughtfully, her eyes softening at the mention of her parents.
Bea peels her eyes off of the sky and watches the woman with fondness. “He would be really proud of you...I know I may have just met you, but you have this gift of luring people in. Of...making them want to stay. You’re like home...I- I don’t know how to explain it...”
Zoey stops painting and observes the brunette, whose eyes only cast a shadow of love.
Bea looks away at the intensity of Zoey’s stare. Her voice breaks the silence, it sounded more soft and vulnerable, with a hint of that smoky accent. “Look at me.”
When their eyes met for the millionth time that night, it felt different. Bea felt complete. Like she was sharing her soul with the woman in front of her. She felt comfortable, with herself, and with everything around her. Zoey started to paint again as Bea watched her closely, formulating the right thoughts in her head. “Hey Zoe?” She subtlety moves her head towards Bea to hint that she’s listening, and the brunette’s eyes twinkle with delight. “Do you believe that we are all connected somehow?”
Zoey folds her arms in thought, “Yes...I do. There is...something called a human energy field. And within that field lies the magnetic pull of human hearts.” She looks tenderly at the brunette, “some may feel a strong pull in their hearts even when miles away. And when the two individuals finally meet, their energies combine like a stellar collision.” Bea stares at her with a certain passion she never felt before. Beautiful, incredibly intelligent, and a poetic flirt? Now that’s a woman.
Zoey sets her paintbrush down and rotates the aisle so it's in full view for Bea. The brunette gasps loudly, her breath catching in her throat. The painting portrayed a stunning image of Bea with the Eiffel Tower behind her, the vibrant golden lights reflecting off her curls and silhouette. In the back, a depiction of maybe a million self-luminous stars painted the sky, and if you looked closely, some were constellations. What stuck out the most was the look on Bea’s face. Her expression suggested that she was looking at something mesmerizing, her eyes sparkling with wonder. And that was true, Zoey was otherworldly. Bea admired the portrait in awe, “It’s perfect Zoey, oh my god.”
“You have a knack for stars eh? Such a nerd.”
The brunette laughs in joy as Zoey teases her. She raises a hand to her chin in thought, “You sound like a natural born American. Who are you and what have you done with my Zoey?”
“Oh your Zoey huh?” She smirks when Bea’s face turns impossibly red. Zoey detaches the portrait and struts towards the brunette, holding out the newly finished gift. “For you darling, to remember this night like no other.”
Bea hesitates to grab it, “Are you sure you don’t want to keep it? I mean what if we never see each other again? I could be the mystery person that you tell people stories about when they come to your gallery one day.” Bea wiggles her eyebrows playfully at the suggestion.
“Well first off, there’s only so much to tell about one night. And a gallery? I think we’re getting ahead of ourselves.”
 “Oh we’re definitely not!”
Zoey laughs pleasantly at the brunette’s confidence, brushing away a few strands of curls that fell out of place. She looks carefully at Bea and then to the painting, “Darling, the memories of tonight are enough to last me quite a while. I’ll never forget it and I don’t need this to remind me.  I’ll admit, if I kept this then everytime I look at it, it would only make me think of you.”
 “...and that’s a bad thing..?”
 “Yes.”
 “Ouchhh Zoe.”
She chuckles gently at the pout on the brunette’s face. “Oh you baby I didn’t mean it like that.” Zoey as she takes a deep breath, gathering her thoughts, “It’s just that after tonight, wherever you go in the world, I hope you don’t forget me so easily. I only wish that you would be by my side just one night longer every time I stare at this painting.”
“Is that what you tell all of your clients?”
That earned Bea a nice smack to the shoulder. Good job, you deserve that.
“Whattt I meant to say is that the night doesn’t have to end! We’re just getting started Zoey. I want to have an adventurous night out in Paris with you. You can show me how the French do it. And maybe paint me like one of your French girls next.”
This time Zoey was the one blushing a deep dark red. She dipped her head away before Bea could catch a glimpse of it. Zoey clears her throat before sitting in thought, “well... I always believed that you should do what feels necessary, and what feels right. Being here with you certainly feels right.” She glances not so discreetly at Bea’s lips, and wets her own in anticipation. The brunette can feel her burning gaze and follows the darker woman’s eyes as they scan every inch of her. A jolt of energy starts forming in her lower belly, her heartbeat steadily increasing while her knees went impossibly weak. There was a literal shift in the atmosphere and Bea swore they weren’t this close before, but the feeling of Zoey’s breath on her cheek told her just how close they became. “...Can I do something that feels right?”
When Zoey nods, Bea wastes no time in pulling her against her body, one arm wrapping around Zoey’s lower waist and the other caressing her dark bronze cheeks. The kiss felt electrical, a burst of pleasure surging through their chests as they finally connected. Bea let Zoey take control immediately, her tongue pulsating in the brunette’s mouth as they french-kissed. The feeling was so overpowering as they both gasped for air after a few minutes. Zoey placed open-mouthed kisses along Bea’s jaw and neck and she moaned in pure bliss at the feeling. Don’t worry there’s probably nobody around to see them. Maybe.
When Zoey pulls back and looks at Bea, she smirks at how dilated her pupils have become. Someone’s excited. The brunette doesn’t let her tease any longer, sliding her hand gently across the french woman’s cheek, to the back of her neck, and pulling her hair until her neck is exposed. Their lips connect once more until both are too weak to stand any longer.
Through her shallows breaths, Bea smiles over at Zoey who has a dazed, yet look on her face. Yep. Nothing compared to the stars.

Fandom: Open Heart
Pairing: Ethan Ramsey x f!mc (Charlotte West)
Word Count: 1.3k
A/N: This is my first published work wish me luck! Constructive criticism is always welcome.
Summary: Ethan gets caught up in a steamy situation with his sexier than ever protégée who continues to run through this mind.
Warnings: Foreplay, Mild Language, NSFW!

As she slowly dragged her impeccably manicured ivory polished nails up the expanse of his mildly hairy broad chest Ethan found it quite hard to control his breathing and remain impassive to the bewitching woman before him. One thing about him was that he was not intimidated by anyone, and certainly not a first year resident for that matter but the divine woman had the ability to turn a highly intellegant diagnostician like himself to a puddle of mush.
For if she told him to jump he’d dutifully ask how high in attempts to please her. Her luminous golden brown eyes shone as bright as the afternoon sun through a glass of whiskey as they bore into his never ending sea blue ones challenging him. Almost daring him to stop her.
But that was the fun of it. He couldn’t no matter how hard he tried he just couldn’t. For how many times he unsuccessfully attempted to remind himself that a relationship between them was highly inappropriate and would be detrimental to her development as a doctor. As if she could hear his repetitive mindless thoughts, she rolled her eyes so hard she could’ve sworn she saw the back of her damn brain.
But instead of starting another asinine argument which would draw them to the same conclusion of him once again pushing her away and ultimately hurting them both she pushed him onto the couch behind them and she stood her grond in front of him and dropped to her knees. And without word began to run her hands over the front of his slacks which by the minute became increasingly uncomfortable as just the intense eye contact between the pair made him want to get on his knees and worship her body all night long.
“We seem to have quite the situation on our hands now don’t we Dr. Ramsey?” she remarked in a faux surprised voice as she ghosted her dainty fingers over his covered member. The combination of her heavenly touch and the use of his title rolling off her tongue in her paradisiacal french accent made him choke out a strangled groan. She moved herself upon the couch next to him leaning over his tall and domineering stature reduced to a dazed mess of a man.
“Would you like me to take care of this for you? Hm, is it my hands you want all over you and making you feel pleasured?” she asked once again, always being one to derive more pleasure from her lovers verbal affirmations of her actions. Trying and failing to form a coherent sentence after her line of questioning once she immediately applied more pressure and began to gently stroke him through his slacks.
Unable to produce words he instead looked down at her hands as they worked their magic he had to put his hands over hers to halt her ministrations to prevent him from unraveling so soon as he much preferred to be inside her. “Rookie-” he tried to protest but was quickly brought to silence by a finger to his lips. “I want you silent,Dr. Ramsey. Wanna know why?” he wordlessly nodded completely transfixed by the melanated enchantress.
“Because I’m in charge, and you're gonna and obey. Understand?” he eagerly nodded and with the consent she craved she continued her ministrations with more pressure this time and delved between the crook of his neck eliciting a loud moan from the object of her desires.
“Good god Charlotte.” he rasped out in a haze of pleasure causing her smirk and nip at his throat and making her way down to his adams apple. The confirmation of his pleasure only increased her own as well as her name on his lips which she wouldn’t mind a taste of at the moment. And with that thought she wasted no time in detaching herself from him only to straddle him and strip her scrub top from her body revealing to him a sight that could bring a hundred men to their knees in submission full mounds that hypnotized him at their every sway to which he hurriedly took handfuls of.
She wasted no time in tugging him roughly by the back of his neck causing their lips colliding together in a mix of unrelenting longing and pent up lust that had been expressed through their longer than necessary glances and not so innocent accidental touches throughout their work days that left him a flushed mess and her a smirking bundle of arrogance. Releasing this pent of lust he began to palm her generous backside and dig his nails into her wide tantalizing hips hard enough to surely leave a mark. As she choked out a moan from the pleasure of him unofficially staking his claim.
Somehow the woman on top of him could do what no woman ever had the avail to do, and that was have complete and utter control over Ethan Ramsey. So infatuated with the woman she could break his heart a million times over and he’d still come back dutifully on his knees. As bad as it may be within the short span of a year Charlotte Adora West had the key to his heart and soul and virtually owned him. Her other hand leaving it’s firm grip on his throat ventured down between them and free him from the confining space of his underwear held him firmly in her grasp and next he did something that shocked the hell out of her and turned them both on by belief all at the same time.
He brought her fingers resting on his face into the warm enclosure of his mouth and expertly sucked his fingers with profound experience and she began her quest of bringing to his peak with skilled adept and in response he dipped his hand into her scrubs and began to skillfully rub her bud with his thumb and forefinger causing her moan and breathe harshly. Replacing her fingers with her mouth they became a mess of panting and moaning tangled tongues and limbs.
As she climaxed her voice rang out in the empty space bringing him to his peak of pleasure to let out a husky growl and her to speed up stroking before-
A loud resounding smack on his desk bringing him out of his scandalous daydream and back into the present expanse of the diagnostic teams office to be met with the inquisitive prodding amber eyes of the subject of all his desires. Dr. Charlotte West herself.
As she just so happened to glance down at the tightening of his slacks she laughed quietly to herself and muttered something he couldn’t understand in french and returned her gaze to his with a knocking smirk.
“What were you fantasizing about Dr. Ramsey?” she seductively inquired, never making the move to break eye contact. He sputtered clearly embarrassed as he was no more than a blushing mess at the moment. “Dr. W-west, what are you doing in here?” he fumbled trying to look anywhere but her beautiful face. “This is the team office, remember? And I needed you to sign this.” she said slyly, still smirking subtly as she handed him a patient chart. “Oh.” he said, snatching up the chart and hurriedly signing his messy signature. “Merci.” she remarked on her way out the door but not before turning back to not so subtly eye his obvious hard of which he tried unsuccessfully to hide.
“Next time you’ll have to call me to fix that, try not to daydream too much of me sir.” she said chuckling before adding, “This is a hospital, Dr. Ramsey” not forgetting to send a suggestive wink his way on her way out leaving her once again victorious at his misery.
The most rewarding in her opinion.
And a flustered Ethan Ramsey, a world famous diagnostician, was left a muddled mess in his chair admiring the view of Charlotte's curvy figure that her scrubs did little to nothing to hide as she effortlessly swayed her way out of his office.
Fin.

Soul Linked
AU’s notes: This story was inspired by what happened in the Lv103 main storyline; therefore, it may contain slight spoilers. However, it doesn’t follow everything in the main story, since my MC has a different background from the one in game.
For the past dreams and promise between Chime and my MC mentioned in this story, I recommend reading Made You Up.
I was too late. When I arrived at Well of Bones, Chisei Gen had already fallen in front of his twin brother.
I rushed to the twins. Chime Gen— or Ruri Kazama paused. Under the mask, his eyes fixed on me.
I reached to Chisei on the floor. He was still breathing, yet could not move. While running towards the two, I heard Kazama shouting something, something about showing his EX skill to his brother. Then, he sang and Chisei fell. This must be it. A spell that put people to sleep; I knew it because it was similar to my own.
There was a moment when I wanted to rush to Kazama’s side. But I couldn’t. He wouldn’t recognize me anymore. I knew that. I was a thread to him, like anyone else in this world. He wanted to destroy this world.
I tried to wake Chisei up. My hand kept shaking his. If I had to use all my power to wake him up and stop Kazama, I would.
I heard the sound of fabric swept on the ground. My ears caught a melody, so gentle and heavenly, as if an angel was singing it. I could not understand a thing, but I let myself indulge in that voice, that melody. It brought me to a place where I felt safe, and at peace; where there was a golden field and a starry sky; and nothing in the world could hurt me anymore.
Yet, a voice in my head was screaming “Danger!” I turned around. Kazama was standing behind me.
He leaned down closer. His lips slightly parted but he had stopped singing. He reached a hand out to cover my eyes. Everything around me fell into darkness.
When I woke up again, I found myself still lying on the ground. But something was not right. Chisei Gen had gone, and Kazama was nowhere to be found. I tried to get up. Voices screaming in my head. It was heavy. I wished the world in front of me would just stop spinning.
Suddenly, a cold voice spoke,
“Welcome, to Hell!”
And everything went back to silence. I recognized that voice. But something else caught my attention. It was Luminous.
I ran to him, calling his name but his face was emotionless. He was in a pool of blood and he was not breathing! Next to him, it was... Caesar?
I shook Caesar too, but he was just like Luminous. I turned to the other side and caught NoNo’s body covered in blood. And there was Finger’s. There was also Johann’s... I ran to each of them and screamed their names. Nobody woke up.
But it was the moment I saw Cery’s body when I lost my mind. Her face was pale and to my horror, my worst nightmare, she was dead. Dead like everyone else that mattered to me. I screamed as if I was ripped off. My heart was torn into pieces when I reached to her, only to realise that my power was useless.
I could not heal anyone. Not Lu; not Caesar nor NoNo; not Finger; not Johann and now Cery... I held her cold body in my tremble arms. At that moment, I knew how my mother had felt when she lost her unborn child and vowed not to use her healing power ever again.
“What’s the point of healing when you have to watch the ones you love, die?”
I gazed up. Tears covered most of my sight, but I still recognized that face.
His sad eyes fixed on mine, then he walked away. I put Cery down to the ground, mumbling “I’m sorry” a thousand times in my cry. When I got up to find that person, he was waiting for me on the other side of the ruins.
I wiped away the tears. He looked... sad, as always. But he was just a boy in a plain kimono, with silver hair covering almost all of his red eyes. As I ran towards him, I realised the changed in my own self. I was a little girl in white dress.
I followed him to the hill, where the flowers were withering and the stars fell down from the sky. He was fast; I never caught up with his steps. But he stopped when we reached the top of the hill and turned to face me.
“You promised to find me.”
There was nothing in his tone. Nothing. Not anger or sorrow.
“And I have always been looking for you.”
“You’re too late.” The boy looked at me, giving me a sad smile before his body was ripped, from inside out. From where he was standing just a moment ago, it was Ruri Kazama.
He laughed. In horror.
“Whoever you’re looking for, has died a long time ago. Silly girl, aren’t you?”
I gathered all the strength just to face him again. Ruri Kazama, Chime Gen, the boy in my dreams... They had been messing with my head!
“He died.” Kazama spoke again. There was pain in his voice now. “He died that night when his brother pierced a blade through his chest. You cannot save him. You cannot save your friends. Silly girl. And now, you cannot save yourself.”
In a blink of an eye, he closed the distance between us and his hand squeezed my neck. I gasped for air but all I took in was blood blending with the soft flower scent of his; once was so familiar to me. He was not the boy I met in dreams many years ago, when my power began to awake. He was not the lost man who came to ask for help to defeat his own devil. And he was certainly not the one who held my hand so gently, just a couple of nights ago when he said he was close to remembering our past dreams.
Our dreams connected in a way neither of us could explain. Through meeting him in the past, my power was somehow awakened. Although he could not remember me when we met again in Tokyo, I knew he was the one in my dreams.
And now, he wanted to kill me.
He was always the nightmares. All this time. Was I the only one holding onto the hope that the little boy I had met a long time ago was still there?
I felt powerless. I could not save Cery or anyone. I could not save him. Like he said, what’s the point of my healing power?
I should have listened to my parents, to just stay home and be a normal girl. I had always been useless. I could not heal, nor get myself out of this nightmare. All along, I was just lying to myself. I lied that Cassell would help me be a great healer. I lied that I would use my power to help my friends and family. I lied that I would be able to meet the boy in my dreams again and pull him out of his endless nightmares.
Even after seeing him in Tokyo, all I wanted was to help him remember me, remember the person he was before.
Who was I to think that I had such power? Useless, that was me.
Maybe I should just give in. And let him win. The grip on my neck was about to take away my last breath. That moment, I saw it. A trail of golden, though very slender, was glowing as it wrapped around his wrist. It was my Golden Thread. Or half of it.
For every beautiful dreams I had had, or encountered, I weaved them into the Thread. It is the source of my powers and I wear it on my wrist.
One night, when Kazama was screaming in his sleep at Takamagahara, I cut it into half and tied one around his wrist. I said it was a protection charm; something that would help him get through the nightmares.
He did not know, that I gave him half of my soul that night.
The half on his wrist started to glow. So did the other half on mine. They connected and formed a bright ray of light, almost like a soul link that soul dancers like me use to protect our allies. But this one, it was quite special. It was brighter than anything I had seen.
Kazama was shocked to see it too. He loosened his grip and I took the chance to fill my lungs with air again. He took a few steps further away from me. His attempts to get rid of the Thread only caused the link to be stronger. His golden eyes locked mine in a second. He was scared and resentful, of how he slowly lost control over this nightmare to me.
“This... is not the end...” He spoke in a cold voice. My chin was lifted by his other hand and clutched, aggressively. “You still cannot wake up. There is a show just for you, silly girl. I will break you and I will dance to your cry. I will make you watch your friends fall into endless nightmares. You once said this world was beautiful, didn’t you? I’ll burn it down to ashes, along with everything you love. Including your little Chime Gen.”
There was bitterness in his laugh before he vanished into darkness, leaving traces of fluttering wings and a soft scent of flowers.
I dropped down on my knees. The tears were dry but the pain still lingered. If I could not stop him, this nightmare would become my reality. I only needed to remind myself that this was all a dream, and I had such power to weave it the way I wanted. Kazama was much more powerful than me. But as long as our souls were linked, I believed I still had a chance to stop him.
I picked myself up. The world in front of me began to spin again. The next time I opened my eyes, I was standing on the shore and Chisei Gen was there.
(to be continued — maybe?)

Wax and Wane
Pairing: Sir Luke Harper x MC (Helena)
Word Count: 700
Note: This story is inspired by both @krishu213’s request for Day 17 of the July Choices Challenge (Moon) and @noesapphic’s suggestion several weeks ago that the “jealousy” scene from Desire and Decorum 3 be rewritten. It’s a really interesting moment for Luke, and I’m sorry that PB chose to attribute his response to jealousy rather than something that might have been a better fit for his character. I’ve used some of the original dialogue, but I’ve tried to piece it together with a more believable scene. I hope the end result is something a little more satisfying.
Tumblr media
Helena cast a final look back at the palace, wishing that her first impression of the place had been a better one. Layers of silk rustled in the evening breeze as she gathered her skirts. Taking Luke’s outstretched hand, she climbed into the carriage. He followed close behind.
They may finally be out of the view of prying eyes, but she felt a little uncertain about what was waiting for them once the door shut. Her fiancé’s behavior had been unpredictable this evening.
Since the death of her father, Luke had been the most constant thing in her life. Even when they were separated, she trusted him and knew his heart. She’d come to know him almost as well as she knew herself. But tonight, she’d seen a man she did not recognize.
“You hardly seemed yourself back there,” she mused quietly, subconsciously brushing a finger against his thigh. He was close enough for her to feel his body heat, and he hovered even nearer as he pondered the question.
“Forgive me. I felt...out of place,” he admitted, opening his palm to receive the hand she moved to his knee. “It was the first time since you agreed to marry me, since being knighted...that I felt all I have gained was threatened. I am so much more powerful than I have ever been, but seeing the way the Prince Regent spoke to you, I felt like a servant again.”
Brow furrowing, Helena searched his face. The interior of the carriage was too dark to make out anything but the shine of his deep emerald eyes. “Luke...” she whispered, reaching to draw one curtain aside. Moonlight spilled into the carriage, illuminating his distant expression. “I would love you the same if you were a beggar, for it is your heart and mind that I love, not your title.”
"I have never doubted it, and I am grateful.” Lifting their entwined fingers, he brought them to his chest for the briefest of moments.
“But you are not out of place. You belong as much as anyone. You’re the noblest among them, even if they do not see it yet.” Her eyes wandered through the window, seeking the stars that they both loved so well. As her gaze carried across the night sky, it was another sight that caught her attention.
“How often do you see the moon, Luke?”
“Every night,” he answered after a pause.
“And does it always look the same?”
“Nay, it changes. Sometimes it is bright and full. At others, it lends only a little light.”
“Is it not always the same moon, no matter what we see? No matter how we perceive it?” she pressed, studying the luminous orb as she continued her line of questioning.
“Aye, it is.”
“Do you not think that you are something like the moon?”
He humored her with a half smile, though the incline of his brows betrayed his lack of understanding.
Helena considered the lines of his face, defined as they were by the silver light. His life had held no shortage of hardships, and she hated the thought that their new positions might lead to more.
Ignoring the pang in her chest, she offered her explanation. “People look at you and see many different things. If they choose not to see your true value, that is their choice -- and it is to their detriment. It does not change who you are. It certainly does not change how I feel for you.”
“Thank you. I love you with everything that I am, my sweet Helena.”
“Just as I love you, Luke.”
“And perhaps there are some similarities,” he mused, raising a hand to cup the slope of her cheek. “After all, I must have the light of the sun.” From his smile, she knew he was speaking of something much closer than the heavenly body.
“We must have each other,” she prompted, cheek tickling with the breath of his responding laughter.
When he kissed her in the quiet of the night, she did not think of the evening’s disappointments, nor did she feel the weight of his doubts. For she knew that above the hood of the carriage, there spanned a canopy of stars and the full light of the moon.

Day 6: Inherited (July Fanfic Challenge)
Tumblr media
Author’s Note: I was going to post this late last night but, I ended up losing a portion of what I’d written so, I had to redo it and this is the final product. I’m super excited to share my spin on Bloodkeepers and my ideal version of how Gaius would be defeated which will come as later fics.
Book/Pairing: Bloodbound (Adrian x MC)
Rating: PG
Summary: After escaping the Order, Isabel turns to her grandmother Ginny for a place for the three of them to stay and ends up learning that there’s more to being a Bloodkeeper than Jameson let on.

“We’re almost there,” Isabel announced, turning onto the right street according to her hand-written directions.
The twinkling soft glow of the city lights had a calming effect on her as they made their way through Paris, and she desperately wanted to take her time, marveling at the blend of old and new being illuminated so beautifully. But, unlike the first night, there was no time for sightseeing now that the Order had made their presence known. They had narrowly escaped Seraphine's club and made a quick stop to the apartment where they were instructed to collect their things and find somewhere else for refuge.
"I wish you could stay here," she had told them, still traumatized from yet another raid that could have been fatal. "But, I can't have them track us here. Which with you three, it makes it so much harder. I'm sorry."
Adrian had given her a reassuring smile, but it didn't quite meet his eyes. They all wore a similar haunted expression. "It's alright. I know you need to look out for yourself. We'll find someplace to stay, right?"
He turned to Isabel who had a thoughtful look on her face. "What?"
"I know someone here. A human. We had been so busy, I didn't think we'd have time to stop and visit but now...she might be our only option. Do you have a phone that I can borrow?"
Seraphine nodded. "Yes, there's a burner phone I keep in here for that purpose."
She quickly gave her the flip phone and Isabel wasted no time dialing the right person.
"Ginny? Hi, it's Isabel. Yeah, actually I'm in Paris with Adrian and a friend of ours. It was last minute. Look, I need a favor. We're, um, in a bit of a situation and we need to lay low for a while, can we stay with you?"
She watched Adrian's eyes flicker in recognition at the name. From all of the stories she told him, it was practically etched into his mind now. Meanwhile, Jax looked on in confusion.
A relieved smile blossomed on her face. "It will be, thank you. You're sure it's okay? Well, we'll be over there shortly then. Let me write it down." She found a pen and a piece of paper where she hastily wrote down the address and directions. After a minute more of conversation, she hung up.
"Who was that?" Jax asked, his eyebrows knitted.
Isabel exchanged a look with Adrian. "My grandmother."
And that's how they found themselves cautiously walking through the streets to their next destination, hoping, praying that the Order wasn't close by.
“Are you sure we should do this?” Jax grumbled, folding his arms warily.
She noticed that he’d been particularly apprehensive ever since the Order had come through those doors. It would be strange if they weren't all untrusting at the moment. But it was even more severe for their cynical friend.
She gave him a confident nod. “Yes. We’ll be much safer staying with Ginny than in a hotel. Plus, it’ll be much less of a hassle if we’re here long term.”
“And you’re sure she’ll let us stay?” He raised an eyebrow skeptically.
“Positive. She already knows that we’re coming. She’s happy to host us for as long as we’re here.”
Adrian flashed her a tired smile. “Resourceful as ever.”
Even though he didn’t age, she could see that the return of Gaius had taken a toll on him. She knew that he still felt awful about losing the fight against him. But there would ultimately be another one, and hopefully, they would be more prepared when that time finally came.
“I just wasn’t comfortable staying anywhere else, with the Order having a lot of resources,” she told him with a shrug she didn’t really mean. "And...if Gaius's ambitions are as high as I think they are, he might try to find us here too."
Jax’s face visibly paled and he uttered a few curse words. “Great, as if we needed more to worry about."
They soon stopped in front of a plain looking brownstone, and Isabel let out an excited sigh. “It’s just like I pictured. Come on, she should be waiting up for us.”
With new energy, she climbed up the small set of stairs. Shortly after she knocked on the front door, it opened to reveal a curvy older woman, still dolled up in her colorful clothes and a natural makeup look that fit her nicely. Even though she was 75, she looked several years younger. The resemblance between her and Isabel was immediate. The main difference between them being the darker complexion and eye color she received from her father.
Upon seeing them, a luminous smile appeared on the woman’s aging features. “Isabel, my child!” she squished her into a loving hug. “How I’ve missed you.”
She let go when Isabel gasped from lack of air. However, she was used to her grandmother’s over the top affection by now and recovered almost immediately.
“I’ve missed you too. Sorry for the short notice but, we’re in quite a unique situation.”
“That’s alright, you’re my grandchild,” she gushed in her carefree manner. Her personality was definitely still as youthful and lively as ever. “There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you. Besides, there’s more house than I know what to do with, so the more the merrier.”
They were swiftly shown inside the older home’s cozy living room. The place seemed small but its height made up for the lack of width.
Then, Isabel remembered that she still had introductions to make. “Oh! Before I forget, Jax, Adrian this is Ginny, my grandmother,” she said. “Jax is a friend of mine, he’s…an activist for some of the less fortunate in New York.”
“Is that so? How wonderful,” Ginny gushed.
He narrowed his eyes at her about the description and she shrugged. How else was she supposed to describe what he did without giving him away?
“That’s right,” he said, quickly rolling with it. “It’s, um, nice to meet you.”
Luckily for him, she didn’t seem to pick up on his hesitation, immediately shaking his hand. “And you too. You’ll have to tell me all about your work.”
With one person down, she turned to the one she'd been wanting to make for a few months. Granted, she didn't think it would be in this context.
"Moving on, I've already told you about Adrian," Isabel said. When she glanced over not hearing him, she paused once she saw his face frozen in surprise, almost spellbound. "Adrian?"
Finally, his shock was replaced with a warm, genuine smile. "Virginia Duplerier, well I'll be damned."
"I wasn't sure if you'd recognize me, it has been a while," Ginny responded.
Isabel blinked at them in confused shock. "Wait, you two know each other?!"
"She used to work for me as a secretary, back in the sixties when Raines' Corps was just starting to grow," Adrian answered with an amused chuckle. "And of course I remember you, even back then you were pretty hard to forget. I should've connected the dots sooner."
"You didn't know?" Jax whispered, not sure what to make of this development. Isabel shook her head.
She turned to Ginny. "Why didn't you say anything when I told you about us?" A surreal feeling overwhelmed her. It wasn't a common thing for your grandmother to have worked for the same person you do. Or currently dating. For it to be both was truly unthinkable.
The eclectic woman smiled at her cheekily. "I wanted it to be a surprise."
"You certainly love those." Another connection soon formed in Isabel's overachieving mind. "Wait, does that mean that you know that...he's…"
"A vampire yes," Ginny said with a laugh. "I see Adrian is still just as bad at keeping it a secret."
The skin between her granddaughter's brows creased. "I thought I was the first to decline being debriefed."
"You are," he told her. "Virginia was brought in the same way Nicole was. Deliberately. I thought that she could be useful and that she was ready to know our secrets. And like you, she certainly didn't disappoint."
"Well, I guess I should tell you that I'm one as well," Jax said hesitantly. "I was the Clanless leader until--"
He was interrupted by Ginny. "Oh yes, I know who you are. You're the one who replaced Vega, aren't you?"
"Wha--how do you know?"
Adrian was the one who answered. "She's always been rather perspective."
"Also, I help out the vampires here in Paris, keep them hidden from the Order. News from New York travels fast, even across the ocean," she elaborated. "I'm assuming you're on the run from them?"
Jax's mouth fell open in shock before he let out a long whistle. "Small world."
"Yes, indeed. Would you like to sit down and relax, have a drink?"
Isabel shared a knowing look with her vampire companions. They definitely didn't need any more alcohol, having just sobered up from their time in the club.
"Do you have coffee?" she asked instead as they sat on the couch.
"Of course darling. And you two?"
They both agreed to have the same. Once the hot beverages were served, the time seemed to fly by as the lighthearted conversation and storytelling flowed freely. Then, Adrian filled her in on the developments in New York.
“I can’t say I’m surprised. It’s a shame about Lester though, he wasn’t my favorite person but...at least he was loyal,” Ginny sighed, then her gaze fixed on Isabel’s, inquisitive and thoughtful.
"Something on your mind, Ginny?" she wondered out loud.
Her grandmother gave her a secretive half-smile. "Ah, I see you're perceptive as ever. I've just been thinking about you and you're natural...astuteness." She then posed a question of her own. "Tell me, has anything...weird happened to you lately?"
"Define weird…"
Ginny sighed, the wheels turning in her mind. Finally, she inquired, "Have you seen anything inside your mind, like a vision? Or are there any blank spots in your memory? Like you know you've seen something but you don't know what?"
Isabel was taken aback by the specificness of her questions.
Suddenly, her mind flashed back to when Jameson pulled that memory out of her in the museum and the search for the Book of the Blood in her mind. Those certainly seemed like they would count. She then recalled that he mentioned something about leaving fragments and she connected that to all of the instances she couldn't explain, like at Priya's club all those nights ago. How she was upright one minute and then something caught her eye and the next thing she knew, she was on the ground next to the bar feeling like she'd been drugged.
And then, she remembered the memory of the cabin and the pain it had caused, almost like electricity was inside of her. There was also the painting in the tomb earlier that night. Closing her eyes, the scene consumed her once more.
She came out of it with a violent jolt. “Actually, I have.” She relayed her thoughts to the group.
Adrian frowned in concern, placing a hand over hers. “You didn’t tell me about any fragments. And when I had found you in the club, you seemed fine to me.”
"I never noticed anything down in the ruins either," Jax added, also becoming slightly agitated.
Isabel shrugged. “With the paintings, the feeling wears off quickly and they didn’t hurt, not like the memory I saw of your family Adrian. The others are much less painful, only a weird tingling sensation.”
She looked over at Ginny whose expression was one of wonder and light, her blue eyes sparkling.
The elderly woman grasped her hand. "So it's what I thought. You are one of us," she murmured in excitement.
"What?"
Ginny stood up tugging on her arm. "Come, Isabel," she urged. "There's something I want to show you." She turned to the two men staring at her in shock. "You two can come too, I believe that this will be useful for all of you."
They look at each other in confusion and Isabel shrugged. “I can’t say I’m not curious.”
“So am I,” Adrian said, his lips turning up in amusement. “You weren’t exaggerating about her.”
Jax muttered in reluctance but stood up also. They followed her up the creaky stairs to the top floor, which had two rooms and one narrow hallway separating them.
“Ginny?” Isabel asked once they reached one of the closed doors.
“Remember the attic from my house in Georgia? This is where I'm keeping my special collection now. "
Her granddaughter's face lit up in recognition. "You never let us go in there. That was the one place that was off limits."
"I know. That’s because you weren’t ready yet. Now, darling, based on what you’ve told me, you definitely are.”
They followed her inside and Isabel gasped, stopping a few feet inside.
“Woah.”
Her curious gaze floated around the old-fashioned library appreciatively. However, she could immediately tell that this one was special.
"Are these all…?" Adrian asked, picking up on the peculiar content as well.
Ginny confirmed with a nod what they all saw. All of the books and objects were of the dark and supernatural variety.
“I knew you were into this stuff, but I didn’t know you were this obsessed,” she marveled.
Jax had already gravitated towards a particular corner. “Wait, you have a whole section on vampires?” he wondered in awed amazement.
He wasn't regretting coming up with them now.
“Yes,” Ginny replied. “I have the most information on your kind. Especially first-hand accounts I’ve collected over the years.”
Isabel felt a magnetic-like pull towards that part as well and she skimmed the rows of books and scrolls of centuries-old parchment, some may have been millennia old. "Are you documenting the entire history of vampires or something?"
Her question was meant to be a joke but, her surprise Ginny nodded.
"Trying to."
Several minutes later, her attention gravitated towards what appeared to be a closet in another corner of the room.
“What’s in here?”
“Ah, that, my darling, is what I’ve brought you here to see,” her grandmother replied, at her side impossibly fast. “Go inside.”
At her urging, Isabel turned the knob and as she entered, she stopped in her tracks. This wasn't a closet, but a secret room.
“Guys, come look at this!” she exclaimed, and Adrian and Jax quickly joined the two in the small space.
“This is…rather interesting.” Adrian mused.
It looked perfectly normal with a casual glance—just another array of bookshelves and a desk with a decade old computer. But then, as her eyes focused on the smaller details, she noticed that the room’s surface level appearance was deceiving.
Almost all of the titles on the shelves lining two of the walls are in Latin. Although she studied the language in high school, she could barely decipher it now. A particular set of thick volumes caught her attention and she walked over, picking one of them up and immediately groaning due to the weight.
“Whoa, these are heavy. Is this made of gold?” she joked, having to hold it with both hands. Then, her eyes drifted towards the title of the volume. “….Abscondita in lucem. What is this, an encyclopedia of some sort?”
Ginny was by her side in seconds. “Yes, my child. Of us, and our gift. I believe an acquaintance of yours might have said something about it already.”
Isabel looked at her in confusion until she quickly realized what she was alluding to. “Scholar Jameson?” she gaped, flicking a glance at an equally shocked Adrian.
“Oh yes, I know of him all too well. He was running that museum even back in the sixties and we had many encounters while I worked for Adrian,” her grandmother commented, with a frown. “I never liked him from the start, he was too charming, it was too much to be genuine. There had to be an ulterior motive. Oh, how right I was. He and his stupid fragments.”
Everything she said resonated with Isabel. Suddenly, she gasped, her eyes widening. “Wait, you're...you're a Bloodkeeper too?!”
“Yes, Isabel. In fact, it's a part of our DNA. We’re a part of a long line of them since ancient times. However, it’s very difficult to trace because it only passes through our maternal lines. Last names change, generations can skip. The lineages even split off into three distant branches around the 1600s. Every generation one is born from each, that’s one thing Jameson didn’t quite get right about us."
The large family tree hanging on the wall above the desk suddenly made a lot of sense now.
A sense of dread suddenly came over Isabel, reading her grandmother’s body language. "Wait, about Jameson, did he do something to you?"
A haunted expression clouded the woman's face, startling her. It was the first time she'd seen her grandmother unnerved by anything.
“Yes, he used me to get to those instructions for how to open the sarcophagus," Ginny sighed before her voice hardened. "Tried to get me to join their cause too, become a spy for them. He even offered to Turn me despite it being forbidden. I of course refused but, by then it was already too late. He already took what he wanted."
It was eerily similar to what he did to Isabel and she shuddered.
Meanwhile, a look of painful realization hit Adrian. "Wait, Ginny, was he the reason you quit? I had a feeling something had unnerved you."
She nodded after a brief pause. "I thought that was the only thing I could do. I couldn't control my memories or who could get a hold of them. I felt like I was a failure at my job because I couldn't stop him from using me. I was scared that he would keep doing it, that having me around was doing more harm than good. So, I left. I went to Georgia with Lori, your mother Isabel."
The account sank into all of them, the invisible weight thickening the air in the room.
"Why...why didn't you say anything? If I had known, I could've done something, prevented what's occurred now," Adrian wondered, this truth once again a painful one for him.
There was a dry scoff, the anger still palpable. "No, Jameson was a determined fellow. He would've found a way to get what he wanted, deliver for his master with or without my involuntary help. It just might have taken a little longer." She shook her head. "He told me all about the justification, how all humans were evil and inferior. But, they've become just as intolerable as the Order has."
"So, he wasn't telling the whole truth?" Isabel said, her voice rising. "The only information he gave me was the memories part and how weak and frail I was."
"Oh no, that was the same thing he told me. But, I had a feeling that it wasn't the full story. After about five years after leaving New York, I finally acted on my suspicions and guilt," Ginny explained. "I wanted to make sure that the generations after me learned to control and use it. Finished what I couldn't."
Her grandmother's message was well received. "Meaning...me."
She was met with another nod. "Ever since I've been collecting these, searching for the truth. And I've largely found it, thanks to my grandmother who was the one from our branch before us and to members of the others who had these."
"But, we're still human."
"Well yes." Then a knowing smile. "But so are vampires. It's funny how Gaius despises us and ordinary people so much but ignores the fact that he’s one too.”
This was news to both Isabel and the two vampires in the room.
"What?" Jax's eyes widened.
Ginny commented with a raised eyebrow. "I'm assuming Gaius and your maker never mentioned that detail."
He and Adrian confirmed this with their confused stares.
Then she explained, "Yes, vampires are all biologically human. You are, Gaius is, even Rheya was after her transformation. We're just different kinds of humans. While ordinary people and Bloodkeepers are born from life, you are created. When someone is Turned, it causes a permanent change in certain parts of their DNA."
"Adrian…" Isabel met his gaze. She knew how much this information would mean to him.
"Ginny, how--? You're serious?" He stammered in disbelief.
The woman's smile widened. "Of course I am Adrian. But don't take it from me, read it for yourself. One of the books in there is the Biology of Supernatural Humans. There's a whole chapter on vampires. Also, if Tony is still in charge of your lab, you can ask him. I had him confirm it for me back...oh...sometime in the nineties I believe?"
His open mouth quickly changed to a radiant smile. "I'll... I'll have to do that."
Ginny's inquisitive eyes flicked between him and Isabel, then they settled as if she had decided something. "Actually, you and Jax can have a look now while I take Isabel and show her the room across the hall."
Her granddaughter caught on to her motives somewhat. Whatever she wanted her to see or do, she didn't want them to know for some reason.
She gave Adrian a questioning look, a silent conversation between them.
"Go ahead," he told her with a smile.
She could tell he was curious about what they were about to do, but he wasn't going to act on it. With that, they walked out of the secret room and she followed Ginny out into the hall.
"What's this room for?" She asked.
Her question was answered while her grandmother unlocked the door. "This is completely dedicated to Bloodkeepers. Specifically, to learn about our powers and training to use them."
Stepping inside the larger space, Isabel could tell this purpose almost immediately, her mouth falling open in a silent gasp. The floor was covered in a wrestling mat and was mostly clear minus the fighting equipment and targets. Hugging the walls were several storage bins and shelves.
Then, her gaze fixed on a particular corner. Approaching it, her eyes widened looking in the canvas bins.
"What the--?" she exclaimed, taking in the various knives, daggers, and other weapons inside. "Is this for close combat?"
"Yes. You see, Isabel, our ability to see memories is only one of many abilities Bloodkeepers possess," Ginny said. She gestured to the volume of  Arcana Imperii in her hands. "Open it to page 5, it lists them all."
Doing as she was told, Isabel frowned. "This is all in Latin. I can't read this!"
"I think you can. You just need to concentrate on the words. It should come to you."
She pursed her lips skeptically but followed her directions, staring at the fading black ink. After a few tries, the words were suddenly understandable. It was as if she had a built-in translator.
"How--? This is amazing?!"
"It's one of our active powers, meaning they're always present once you've come into contact with a vampire or you turn 25, whichever comes first. You should have experienced these by now."
Isabel read down the list and they all were familiar to her. Now her high intellect and intuition made much more sense, and why she was always so good at track and dance. There was one that confused her though.
"Enhanced senses?" she asked.
"You haven't smelled things really well? Heard things from far away?"
The feral attack. She had heard that woman scream from the edge of Central Park Adrian had. On the opposite end.
"Actually, I have. I just didn't think anything of it before," she replied. Then she saw the next subheading. "Dormant powers?"
"These aren't automatic, they need to be summoned or turned on and off with a Latin phrase: ab origine, ab antiquo, ab aeterno."
The translation immediately came to Isabel. From the origin, from the ancient, from the eternal.
She went through the list out loud. "Heightened speed and agility even more than active ability...increased strength...electricity attacks and white light manipulation?!"
Her breath caught at the last two, piquing her interest. "What are these?"
"They both come from the same concept and they have their own summon on top of the main one," Ginny answered. "We have this innate energy in us which comes from our original purpose. This manifests itself in these two power categories. White light is the use of the powers of light for good purposes, including healing abilities and negating mind control."
"And electricity attacks?"
"They're another power to be used while fighting. Methods include hand blasts, lightning projection, and the one way the purest of vampires can be slain, lightning infusion of these." She gestured to the bins in front of them.
"Wait," Isabel said, the underlying message becoming clear as day.  "Are you saying that...I'm the only one who can kill Gaius now?"
"You are as far as I know," Ginny told her. "I'm far too old to use mine for more than training and research."
Her mind was reeling from the influx of information. But, she also was starting to feel elated, empowered. She wasn't a burden to the group after all. She belonged with them.
"Why can't the others know about this?" she wondered, referring to the men in the other room. "Wouldn't this be beneficial for them to hear too."
Her grandmother gave her a smile. "Jax as long as he's trustworthy I don't see a problem with you telling now. In fact, he could be very useful in helping with your physical training."
"What about Adrian?"
"I see the way he looks at you, I can tell how protective he is," Ginny admitted. "And while that's a good thing and I'm glad you're with him. I fear that he might not let you do this. The process is risky and in a stressful situation like a battle with Gaius, if you're not prepared, it could malfunction or not work, putting you in danger. Especially because the infusion needs close contact to be effective. But, there might not be another option now that he's consumed Rheya's blood. Adrian can find out eventually, but not before you're fully trained."
Isabel couldn't argue with that, remembering how she had to physically push him away from the battle back in New York.
She bit her lip. "What would...all of this training entail exactly?"
"Well, we would have to spend several hours each day to get you to full potential in such a short time. I will warn you it will be draining for you, it is a weakness that comes with our gift, especially since it won't be spread out like is recommended. That's why I won't make you do this if you don't want to, I'll help you three find another way. It's up to you."
Isabel closed her eyes and processed the choice in front of her. It would be dangerous and a lot of pressure placed upon her shoulders. She also hated the thought of keeping such a big thing hidden from Adrian. But, just like when she decided to keep her knowledge all those months ago, she felt a sense of purpose, a calling.
After all of the years of people telling her she wasn't good enough and that she had to depend on others, she had the chance to take control of her own story. To have the opportunity to fight herself, to be the one protecting others all while fulfilling her desire to do good, shape a better, peaceful world, it was liberating.
This is was something she was meant to do.
"I'll do it," she said decisively.
"You will?"
Isabel nodded, a smile forming. "I'm a fighter, Ginny, this is what I want. I can handle the responsibility."
Ginny looked at her granddaughter, a world of possibilities and hope in her eyes. "I was hoping you'd say that. We'll get started later this afternoon, I want you to get some sleep beforehand."
"Okay."
She knew that coming here would be the right decision, that Ginny would be helpful. She just hadn't anticipated that she would provide the answers Isabel needed the most. She wasn’t going to let her down.

This week in Armie Hammer #7 (April 21)
This week saw the end of Armie’s work on Dreamland in Montreal. His character is said to be an undercover DEA agent.
As a result there were a few posts on social media of Armie out and about with his children. A special mention here for the “Armie with Disney princesses” post recalling his role in Mirror, Mirror . It’s a meme waiting to happen. As usual he seemed game (with a wave of his elegant wand hand) ....See also Armie hammering on a Russian tv show, followed by enthusiastic Hammer time dancing on said Russian tv show. Then acting with mannequins of US presidents on John Oliver’s show and then the hallowed Twilight skit where he hammed it up as Edward Cullen.
Which makes me wonder why that wasn’t brought up at the Oscars round table when he and Robert Pattinson were at the same session. Opportunity lost ?
More commitments for May have been announced. In addition to reading at KAMP at the Hammer museum on May 19, Armie will be the MC for a gala for the Steppenwolf theatre company in Chicago on May 11.He has previously moderated a film discussion (link below). While appearing nervous he was clearly enthusiastic and the film’ subject seems inspiring. A Private War featuring the luminous Rosamund Pike and Jamie Dornan.
Given his movements in May, Rebecca’s preproduction may be starting in May so he may not be required on set till June. No word yet on who has been cast as Mrs Danvers which is the plum role in Rebecca, in my opinion.
Armie tweeted song lyrics by Open Mike Eagle - Relatable. The lyrics are melancholy. “I don’t wear a monocle. I don’t know which sequels are truly canonical. I promise I truly and really remember you. I’m feeling invisible. “
Armie is tweeting about once a month this year and twice they’ve been song lyrics. We know he’s a voracious reader and has beautiful penmanship. He also listens to a lot of rap. I miss his recommendations on books and films etc, but the lack of posting on social media is a good look. Especially for his family’s security and for a maturing actor.
Death on the Nile has cast Latetia Wright and filming may start in September. Will Armie be continuing his physical training? As neither Maxim nor Simon require it, it will be interesting to see how his physique changes now he has finished Dreamland. Perhaps he will be able to fit into more clothes so may be able to wear more than just 2 T-shirt’s?
Wounds may have been pulled from Netflix’s release schedule. Perhaps some reshooting or editing will be taking place?

2 final reflections: Ava Duvernay commented on Armie’s choices and what he is using his voice to give voice to. It’s certainly not straight white trust fund upper class males.
It’s Persian , African American, female directors and a first time Australian director (telling an incredibly movingly Indian story). His choices are up there with Gyllenhall and Pattinson , who’ve all been heart throb movie stars who’ve pivoted to independent films and interesting choices. It would be wonderful to see all 3 of them together (yes...nocturnal animals , I know).
Finally, Armie inhabits his characters and if you didn’t know him, you would be surprised to se him playing James Lord and Steve Lyft and Ilya. How is the same actor as the Lone Ranger also Oliver in CMBYN?
Wishing Armie a relaxing break with lots of mental health days. And all of you too.
Have a great week.
