Can I hear your thoughts on this panel?
Tumblr media
I feel that Hyrule looking at Legend as Four says that is important somehow... What do you think?
Hmmm
Well one thing I’ve noticed in the last couple of updates is Hyrule and Legend have been around each other A LOT
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Practically ever since Hyrule finished healing Twilight and helping Four they’ve been hanging around each other. In close proximity too. Which, given that Legend usually only stands close to the people he trusts (principally Sky) is a big deal.
If Dawn pt. 5 is any indication, it seems that Hyrule is mostly initiating this lol
Tumblr media
But Legend is letting him
Excuse me while I fangirl over the downfall duo for a moment. ALDNDLSDJSLDNSL THE BROTHERS EVER
Ahem ok let’s continue
Now, I’m overdue for a LU reread so correct me if I’m wrong BUT I seem to recall that they’ve never stayed this close to each other before. Could just be that they take comfort in one another’s presence. Seeing the panel you shared, though, I’m gonna say it’s more than that.
Idk if they’ve figured out their place in the timeline yet (I’m assuming not due to how everyone acted in Timeline Talk pt. 1). That doesn’t mean, however, that they haven’t begun to guess. Jojo has hinted at many interactions that the Links have had offscreen. Plus, Legend and Hyrule met up before they ran into the others. They’ve had time to get to know each other. I guarantee they’ve got suspicions about their places in time.
Which leads me to believe Hyrule is afraid of losing Legend. He must have figured out that Legend was a hero sometime before his journey began. Meaning, somewhere along the way he perished and the darkness he struggled so hard against spread over Hyrule anew. With Twilight just having escaped death (plus the cryptic comments he continues to make regarding Time’s fate), I’m sure untimely demises are on Hyrule’s mind.
I don’t think he knows Legend’s fate (unless there’s something in his games that hints toward the previous hero’s fate). But I believe he wants to. I can’t be the only one who sees the striking similarities between Legend and Time. He likely came to the realization that a guy like Legend will most likely die a wanderer or a warrior (doesn’t mean he did. I don’t like to think he did. One blorbo with a tragic end is enough XD But still). And being a hero and Legend’s friend he’s wondering if maybe, just maybe he can change that.
If it’s possible to know a future occurrence, it could be possible to transform it, right?

The price of war, part 2
Tumblr media
Part 1
Summary: You are getting accustomed to your new life as the Lady of Winterfell
Warnings: it is implied that reader has a "midsize" body or rather she is plus size, cursing, forced marriage, a bit of humiliation and degradation (just between them both), talks about body shaming (not towards reader), reader is concern her body will change, mentions of pregnancy, pregnancy, body changing, SMUT, body worship, oral sex (f receiving), fingering, overstimulation I think, might miss some warnings but you know me.
Notes: no please this will not become a story, I just felt kinky
This happens a couple of months after the first part, but BEFORE that little flash-forward
This wasn’t easy, not at all
Cregan was not going to support your brother, but he has decided to kept you with him
You married him a couple of days later after he had you, Jace even gave you away to him with a mocking stance after he himself took his liberties with you once in Cregan’s chambers
Only once
Because the wolf didn’t want to share you, he said so himself…
The trace of Jace’s hands vanished quickly from your body, Cregan had made sure of it
Now two months had passed and even though you were the lady of Winterfell, you barely left the castle, you barely did anything…
Your days consisted of rising up with Cregan inside of you, he would fuck you tired, when you’d come to your senses he would be finishing breaking his fast, leaving you with a small feast as he went away to deals with matters of importance to the biggest of the 7 Kingdoms. He wouldn’t tell you what he’d do… you thought because they were preparing for marching…
Against your family.
You’d spend your short days… as winter was coming… sewing, reading northerners history, and chatting with servants maids and people of the castle.
They were becoming… softer towards you.
They were sweet and nice but… there was a secret arrangement between the servants and soldiers of Winterfell… you were not to leave…
Nobody would physically stop you, but those days you dared go outside to the courtyard, you felt the soldiers sting you nervously, how the maids would never leave you alone…
So you’d return inside, it was chilly anyways
At night when Cregan returned, no matter how much you’d try to initiate conversation, he would quiet you with kisses and caresses, he would take you once and again, and those sweet times when you would lay over him, your head in his chest… you try to ask him about his day…
And he would imply, annoyed, that you didn’t need to know it…
He thought you were trying to spy on him
And that made you sad
Three full moons had passed since that fateful day you landed your dragon outside the double walls of Winterfell…
And all that time alone with yourself.. had make you more aware… self aware
Something was off, as you broke your fast… alone… the sole smell of those wild boar sausages made your stomach do somersaults inside of you…
You had been feeling.. heavier lately.. more sensitive, and now you wanted to throw up
Perhaps you were dying
Catched some desease that only southerners in the north could catch…
But oh you knew the truth, deep inside
You weren’t an idiot
The maid catched you with your hands in your sensitive breasts…
The maester was called, and your doubts dissipated
You were with child
Cregan was coming home tonight and you were waiting for him with a small feast and candles lighten
You… we’re conflicted about Cregan, he was gruff, a bit wild, but he never mistreated you, he was gentle and sensual with you, and wether you had liked it or not, he was your husband…
You just wanted to melt the ice around him…
So when he entered his chambers he found you waiting for him with a soft smile
He smirked
Now you were changing tactics… he thought… you were trying to soften him, get him to lower his guards… he found it endearing
“What’s all this my sweet lady wife?”, he asked, you got nervous all of a sudden
“I wanted to tell you something…”
The child you were expecting… it was not Cregan’s first born, he already had a son, Rickon, who he wouldn’t let you meet yet… he had no need of a heir, he already had one… so you’d imagine he didn’t care much, but if he didn’t want more children… he wouldn’t have bed you as much…
You only hope this could bring you both together
“Go ahead”, he encouraged
You knew he didn’t trust you
You had this plan to ease him into it, to start dining, to chat a bit about his day, and then finally you'd tell him about your condition, but his piercing gray eyes were drilling into your nervous stare, and he seemed impatient, so you guessed it was better to just tell him.
"I'm with child", you said with a small smile.
You were happy, you always wanted to have your own family, you did, perhaps it was your father's neglect, or your mother's stern interactions with you all, but you wanted to have children of your own, just so you could love them as much and as best as you could, because you knew you could do better than what you had
Cregan chuckled darkly
"Oh my sweet, innocent little wife, I had noticed already", he purred, with his usual smirk
"Uh?", you muttered, one of your hands in your yet somewhat flat belly
"Your tits are bigger, you get all whiny when I touch them, and your waist and thighs are thicker...", he said with a mocking tone, "So I already noticed, I just wanted you to tell me"
"Oh", you whispered. You didn't see a change in his attitude towards you, perhaps he wasn't extremely happy, maybe this was what he expected from you, so that's why he wasn't particularly excited
You looked down as your nose tickled, a tell tell sign that you were about to start crying
...and your waist and thighs are thicker...
You ahd noticed how your sisters' bodies changed, both of them, Rhaenyra had lost the figure she had, you don't remember her young and thin, but older, as your mother, and thicker, but you did remember Helaena, her body, after having the twins, became softer, rounder... Aegon had made sure to point it out shortly after she gave birth... while in his cups he mocked of how he didn't desire her now with her new body
He made her cry, Aemond had grabbed him and smacked his head against the stone floor of the dinning room until Alicent cried to stop him
"I'm sorry", you muttered, and now he looked confused, "I'm afraid is a thing Targaryen women suffer while carrying a child... they loose their figure..."
"You have nothing to be sorry for", he didn't mean it like that, he thought, alarmed, when he saw you were about to cry.
You thought he had insulted you, when for him was the opposite
He took two long steps and grab you softly
"I can't wait for you to get fat with my child", he growled, you looked up into his eyes to find his pupils enlarged, ready to pounce on you, "more for me to grab, to caress, to kiss..."
"Really?", you asked, suddenly embarrassed, not really believing him
"You don't believe me little one?", he growled, his big hands, even over your dress, surrounded your and grabbed you under your ass cheeks, making you whine in surprise, "you are even more beautiful than the day you arrived here, and each passing week you'll be even more", he leaned in and kissed you then, more like... he devoured you
You completely gave in as he trapped your lips with his, you already know how it went, but this time felt different
Before you even knew it, you heard it, he ripped your dress with one tug, in a second leaving naked to his eyes
"You are so fucking delicious... can't fucking wait till' you are all round for me", he whispered adoringly, made you want to cry but this time from happiness
Still with his hands on the back of your thighs, he managed to get you off the ground and wrapping your legs around his waist, as he took you to the bed
"It seems I wasn't clear enough", he said softly, "It appears that no matter all the times I've bedded you, you still think I'm not attracted to you, that I don't take you seriously as my wife"
He placed you softly to the bed, he accommodated between your thighs. He looked down at you, admired your form, and you wanted to cover your breasts at least, feeling watched so intently...
"ah ah ah", he chided, grabbing yours arms, preventing you from covering, "you are mine to see, remember?", he took his own clothes very quickly, until he was as naked as you were.
He was a magnificent creature, his muscles visible under his beautiful skin, his body thick, his chest ample, hsi arms and legs thick as logs... his... manhood... thick, generous, you had nothing to compare it with, but it was so big... thick as almost your wrist
"You like what you see too, don't you?", that devilish smirk that made your knees tremble
You were feeling more confident, now more desired so you nodded strongly
"Yes husband" you admitted, his smirk grew even more, and his big rough hands grabbed your soft thighs, squishing them, admiring them
"Who does this thighs belong to?", he asked then, looking down at you
"To you", you answered without even thinking
"And who does this belly belong to?", he asked grabbing your sides, squeezing a bit too
"To you", you repeated, a smirk of your own appearing in your mouth, his thick but nimble fingers sneaked between your thighs then, you jumped, buckling your hips when they teased your entrance, his thumb in your clit
"And this cunt?", he teased, "that will bear me many children"
"It's yours", you moaned, spreading your legs even further, asking for more... and he indulged you sinking in another finger, to tease your insides.
"Ah", you almost lost it when he found that special spot inside of you and bullied it relentlessly until you could hear the squelching sounds you were making
"All wet for me too", he teased, "so precious, my beautiful, desired little wife, all mine to breed"
You didn't know why his words turned you on so much but they did.
"Please...", you begged buckling your hips once his fingers abandoned your inside
"Please what?", he teased
"Please... I need you inside me", you begged, not caring anymore, he was your husband, you wanted him and he wanted you, there was no power play, no more no between you.
"I shall indulge you then", he said, pleased, his hands would not leaving your soft thighs, squeezing them, caressing them, his eyes never leaving your form... his pupils enlarged making his eyes seem all black, his teeth... in his mouth hunger for you...
"But firt", it happened fast, he layed on his belly between your thighs and sunk in your cunt
It made you scream the contact of his wet tongue between your tongues, your hand went to his wild hairs, the other to the sheets under you
You herd him, rather, you felt him chuckle between you, making goosebumps blossom in your skin. His rough hands in your thighs, his mouth, his wet large tongue. He devoured you like a man starved.
It was not the first time he'd done it, the first time you felt akward, he could sense it, it was less intense than this, more tense rather...
But not now, when you were coming undone for the second time, and he lapped at your juices like it was water and he was parched
He finally released you when he was satted and your legs were shaking around him.
He ludely wiped his mouth with his naked arm, smiling birghtly at you from above
"Fucking delicious", he but as moaned, "now that you indulged me, love, I'll indulge you"
"Wait... wait i can't"
"Yes you can, just take it my love", he teased, he took his hand wet with your arousal to his cock, stroking it. You whimpered, your senses heightened.
You whimpered again, but you welcomed him spreading your legs wider.
He entered you slowly but steadily, you melted under him as you felt every centimeter of his thick cock.
"Oh gods", you whined your head falling back
"It's not your gods, my love, it's me", he growled, "your loving husband"
He wasted no time in moving, retrieving himself until his very tip, making you whine and then he sank himself back inside you to the hilt, with more purpose this time
"You look so beautiful like this", he teased, "taking my cock, so full of it"
"I like it", its the only thing you were able to mutter, your mind clouded
"Of course you do", his strong arms were placed by the side of your face, you could see his muscles working as he kept himself from crushing you under his weight
His thrusts were deep and strong, you could swear the tip of his cock reached your belly every time.
"You are going to look so beautiful", he said, "more than you already do, but don't think this is going to end", he promised with a dark smile, "it will only get more frequent, I won't be able to keep myself from you", he kept ramming into you
The bed make dangerous sounds under you, threatening to break, you you didn't care
"Are you well?", he had to ask, your eye had rolled almost to the back of your head, you were shaking and moaning without restraint
"Please don't stop", you begged making him chuckled darkly
"I love you", he promised in the middle of his grunts, keeping his rhythm steady, just as you needed.
That did managed to slip in your mind
"You do?", you asked, grabbing onto his arms, looking into his eyes
"I fucking do, from the moment I saw you enter that room I knew, you belonged with me", he promised, as he resumed his thrusts, "I needed to have you, breed you", you moaned, feeling your orgasm building again, "and turn you into my little slut", you whined in protest but he quieted you down with a dark chuckle, "now here you are, desperate for my cock, aren't you?", you nodded quickly, "of course you are you little thing"
"Please", you begged
"Admit it", he teased, fucking you slowly
"I am, I love it", you whispered, giving up so easily, there was no reason to hide it
"Good girl", his hand cradled your cheek, his thumb caressed your cheek
"I love you too", you whispered, he fucked you harder, finally cuming inside of you
That triggered your own climax
You almost lost consciusness
You certainly missed your husband chuckling at you, leaving your form, and cuddling you next to him, after bringing you water

TotK Link
Okay, I know not everyone has played Tears of the Kingdom, nevertheless finished (I know I haven't), but I just have brainrot that I need to spread.
And I now have the platform to do so >:)
So, of course, Spoilers under the cut!
CW: Yandere, TotK spoilers!
Tumblr media
・❥・So, this can go two ways. One, TotK Link is Wild who was taken mid-adventure with the other Links. Or, two, this is an entirely different Link, kind of like Calamity (AoC Link-- there are some great headcanons about him -> Here! Go check them out they are so, so good.).
・❥・I like both ideas! But, let's talk about the second option.
・❥・So, imagine, the chain and Reader are coming through a portal to this new Hyrule. Or, well, they think it's new. It's oddly reminiscent of Wild's Hyrule only...bigger. There are islands in the sky, holes covered in what appears to be malice in the ground. People are more abundant, there are towers standing, glowing a welcoming red rather than the golden towers in Wild's Hyrule.
・❥・It's so different, but yet so familiar.
・❥・Now, it's evident that this Link is a little more...Feral. Look at his hair and tell me otherwise, you can't. This man had won. He had won, gotten his victory over the Calamity and was supposed to have the rest of his life to settle down. But he didn't. It was ripped away from him once more. Not only that, but he was thrown back to square one. Gloom now riddled his veins making him feel like he was newborn fawn stumbling out of the Shrine once more. So he's probably livid. Angry with Hylia and fate, and Ganon and and and-
・❥・He has no patience left to offer.
・❥・Zelda was supposed to have unlocked her sealing powers, no? And she did nothing. Actually, that's a lie. She used them to save herself. He was left dying again and she saved herself. After he destroyed the Master Sword, the only thing that made him anyone, protecting her. Destroyed his arm. Destroyed himself. And she saved herself. Rauru had to protect him. Had to save his life before Zelda did.
・❥・So, yeah, he's a little less...companionable. He had to save someone who wouldn't give two shits about him again. He thought they had improved their relationship, but he guesses not. Betrayal runs deep in his gut, igniting a fiery inferno that burns on spite.
・❥・And the worst part about it? Everyone around him is praising that damned Princess. For the bare minimum. Showing them a recipe, building a school that should've been there years ago, hell, even just having a horse got her praise out the ass.
・❥・He was tired of it.
・❥・People stay out of his way a lot more. He wears a look that promises some form of harm should someone cross him, and he's more than willing to deliver. Because now, it's not just the one land of Hyrule. Now he has to deal with the Sky Islands and the Zonai creations. Now he has to deal with the depths and all of those creatures which just bring back the gloom he dispels. And he's so over it.
・❥・Now, picture if you will, Reader falling through the portal, separated from the chain, scared and alone. Reader thinking they're in Wild's Hyrule, but his doesn't quite look like this, does it? Reader thinking that, hey, at least they're hidden and in a forest, only Oh Sweet Goddess Above-- THE TREES ARE MOVING-
・❥・Reader doesn't know what to do because THE TREES ARE COMING AFTER THEM, they were forbidden from having a weapon (Because why would they be separated ever? They were there to protect their sweet reader? why would they need to burden themselves with a weapon when the Links could fight for their honor?), and THE TREES WERE ATTACKING THEM-
・❥・But, here comes their knight in shining armor- or some sort of blue tunic. Honestly, the tunic was styling if we're being honest; the open back and split sides along the hips? (Iykyk)
・❥・The trees are taken care of easily and the blond is turning to look at reader.
・❥・Reader just knows. "...I'm gonna guess your name is Link?"
・❥・And while on the outside, all he gives is a simple nod, it's anything but simple. You, this gorgeous being that he just so happened upon, recognized him. It seemed that without Zelda parading him about like some show dog for all of Hyrule, people didn't know who he was. but you? You did? You knew who he was? And the way you were staring at him was like you knew what he had done. The sacrifices he had given. And you were thankful and appreciative. Which was all he asked for.
・❥・You then thank him (You THANKED him) for saving your life and explain that you had been separated from your group. (Group? You had a group? And they just...let you out of their sight?) He offers to help you look for them and you eagerly accept.
・❥・Now, he latches onto you pretty quickly. Your already used to all the Link-isms so he isn't much different. The silence, the constantly guarded exterior, your used to all of it. And it just convinces him further that you're perfect for him.
・❥・Eventually the rest of the chain do pop up. But this Link isn't convinced their safe, after all, Ganon could make puppets out of everyone. Whose to say their not puppets or Yiga? It's better to stay with him, can't you see that?
・❥・The chain obviously have a different opinion on the matter, Legend all but Demanding you back. Hyrule and Four try to placate this Link, while Wild, Wind and even Twilight are trying to think of way of just scooping you up and running. Sky and Warriors are trying to barter with this Link (What does he want? Fairies? Potions? Money? They could have it all should he just give you back). Time is the only one to recognize that this is still a Link. He still wants what's best for you. That doesn't mean he trusts him.
・❥・If Fierce Deity and First are int he group at this point, they too are probably either trying to manipulate explain to this Link that they are in fact your aforementioned group or are just barely holding onto the shred of sanity left thats stopping them from simply doing away with this obstacle.
・❥・But this Link, like all Links, is stubborn. Not just a regular stubborn either. He has learned the hard way that if he wants something, he's going to have to fucking cling to it to keep it. And he's not losing you. Eventually they explain the situation after a bit of your pestering and he loosens up, just the slightest, to take in their words. That doesn't mean he lets go though. Oh no, he just lets them meander closer without threatening a flame throwing at them.
・❥・He's sort of indifferent to Wild, I would think, since they're kind of the same person. He was just dealt the shittier hand.
・❥・When asked where Zelda is, he simply points up (Maybe her name is Natura? Idk, I'm uncreative). He does not elaborate. They don't ask him to.
・❥・Now, it's obvious you have just claimed this Link. He's yours. Sorry not sorry. It's just a matter of taking him with you. He's insistent on not leaving your side. The Demon King isn't actually doing anything, other than unleash monsters the people of his land are already familiar with. This is obviously a new threat and he's a Link isn't he?
・❥・In terms of names? Maybe he's the hero of the Zonai because Tears of the Kingdom doesn't really give us much to work with. Maybe they call him both Zonai and Sage. I like Sage, so I'm going with that.
・❥・The way he fights is fast and brutal, delivering hits that dissipate his enemies own mobility before delivering a fatal last hit. He's a unit of a man, probably like Twilight, if not a little smaller. (Have you seen the shit he has to lug around? Mans is built.) Same height as Wild though, just more built.
・❥・As for the type of Yandere he is? He's on you. Constantly. He is hovering over you because anything and everything can be ripped away from him in an instant, as Hylia as so helpfully shown. He is making sure nothing gets the chance to get closer to you. And he's using his new abilities to do so. Wild is probably interested in the abilities and the arm and the tech, since his Hyrule, after Sage's, is the most technologically advanced.
・❥・He's inspecting your food, checking your person every time you disappear out of his sight for a second, snarling at people who attempt to talk to you.
・❥・The group have to keep him in check like an untrained puppy.
・❥・Oh, but how he laps up the attention Reader bestows upon him. He is such a cuddle hog and he knows it, smirking smugly at the others while you hold him close because oh how his arm hurts so badly, didn't you know? Oh, how the gloom has him feeling absolutely rotten, please can he just lay with you for a while? Just until he settles back once more? Pretty please?
Anyway, those are my thoughts for now, feel free to add your own!

Notice Me, Reader! Tag
Thanks for the tag, @tabswrites!
Rules: Share 3 (or more!) small details from your WIP that you feel have gone/will go unnoticed. (You can choose whether or not to share why the detail is significant!)
I'll share some sneaky details from Tales of Wilted Flowers and Realms of Loss (:
Tales of Wilted Flowers -
Lorelai's name means "alluring enchantress", and usually a name with a meaning related to sirens that lure people to their doom. That name fits well the way the kingdom views her House, as "conniving traitors", but also has a hint of mystery that implies that not all is what it seems. (The idea for this name also came to me after listening to Loreley by Blackmore's Night)
As the title of the story would imply, many of the characters have flower motifs - some of which may appear in clothing motifs, symbolism, or actual flowers in the story. Flowers are usually tied to meanings of rebirth, hope, and something that is thriving. Wilted flowers indicate that something is amiss - perhaps their environment is sickly as well. Rylisan's flower motif is daisies. Xarian's flower motif is the nightshade. Think about that as you will (: Both have multiple meanings for the characters at hand.
When Neoma'ka is introduced she is trapped in a complicated situation. This parallels her backstory, which revolves around her being "trapped" within her family's expectations of her. It also implies that she is trapped, emotionally, by her own hands - for as long as she does not come to terms with her past.
King Tieran Kallasen's story as well as his past friendship-turned-rivalry with Arcturus Wildwood was vaguely inspired by the actual Arthurian legends. Tieran is a twisted version of King Arthur, while Arcturus is inspired by Lancelot.
Once again, the "flower" motif, but subtler: Arista Bryar's surname is a variation of the word briar - which means wild rose. Roses are innocent flowers usually hailed for their beauty, but their thorns can cause a lot of pain. As it turns out, Arista might be more thorn than flower when the story starts. I also chose her surname as "Bryar" because in Ravaryn faeries are known for having nature-inspired surnames, and she is a half-fae (vampires are faeries in this story). She is also associated with the color ember red, or blood crimson - respectively, "like her father's eyes or the rage in her heart."
Multiple character backstories in this WIP deal with the theme of being unjustly judged and shunned, being othered and cast away by other people - be it by being called a bloodthirsty aberration, a scoundrel, a dark magician, or a traitor, when that's not true. It's also a story about those characters learning to love themselves no matter what society thinks about them.
Realms of Loss:
Kassien's symbol (which is in his actual insignia in the story) is the Sea Serpent (the legendary monster). Those creatures are associated in mythology with the ungovernable power of the oceans, chaos, and the mysteries of the unknown.
When Gwain Vytris is first described in the story there's the phrase "his grey cloak frames him like the closed wings of a hawk". Hawks are birds associated with intelligence, adaptability, and freedom, while also being birds of prey capable of causing serious danger to those they hunt. It's a pretty ominous, somewhat hopeful imagery for our angry boi.
The name Drystan is a variation of Tristan, a name that means "sorrow, or one who is sorrowful". Considering Drystan's backstory in this book, I think the name is pretty accurate.
Sara Kallary's story is very much a "person vs fate" story in which she questions whether she was born destined to be a vile monster like a certain relative of hers, or if she can choose and carve out her own path and destiny.
Nesrynna is known for her unique necklace, which has an amulet that is actually a music box. This has two meanings, both are correct: 1. she chooses to look for beauty and hope in unlikely places, 2. she is stuck in the pain of her childhood, and what it could've been if nothing had gone wrong, she never let go.

I'm Mallory Dunlin, an avid reader and writer of monster romance. I talk about the things I'm writing, alongside a rotating collection of eclectic interests. Scroll long enough and you might be graced by a picture of Moon or Dawn, my borzoi.
As I hope anyone who picks up my books can tell, I'm queer, neurodivergent, and fascinated by the interplay of identity and society. My novels are dark fantasy romances, where the world can be brutal, but love wins the day. Most explore trauma, recovery, and the healing power of accepting others as they are.
What I'm working on: a fae enemies-to-lovers arranged marriage romance with Hades/Persephone vibes
Catalog below the cut!
Monsters of Faery
Modern-day fantasy, primarily set in Faery
CAPTURED BY THE FAE BEAST: Leah expects to die after a backcountry climbing accident. When a monstrous fae prince rescues her instead, claiming to be her soulmate, she strikes a bargain: a year and a day in his company in exchange for freedom at the end of it. But the Beast of Phazikai is more than his bloody reputation suggests, and there's far more at stake than her heart.
IN THE CLAWS OF THE RAVEN PRINCE: All deals with the fae have a twist, and when Lilly makes hers, she finds herself with a sword instead of a pen. But fate steps in when she faces the half-fae, half-manticore Chimera on the field—and discovers that the greatest enemy of Stag Court is her soulmate.
CLAIMED BY THE FLAME OF FAERY: To save her father's life from the vengeful half-dragon Duke of Nyx Shaeras, Isabela offers herself as his life-debt servant. Weathering his arrogance and pique, she starts to see the man beneath the dragonfire—but the secrets he's keeping might destroy their chances of happiness forever.
TAMING THE WILD HUNT: (novella) A deadly encounter with the Wild Hunt leaves an art thief trapped in the deep wilds of Faery—with a hellhound who won't leave her side and a Hunter who wants far more than merely her life.
Echoes of the Void
High fantasy with Renaissance-level technology
THE GARDENER AND THE WATER-HORSE: Fleeing from an abusive wizard, Safira takes refuge at one of the remote, sorcerous Spires. Though she's wary of beautiful, dangerous men, she strikes up a friendship with the water-horse of the caldera lake surrounding the island, and finds herself in deeper waters than she expected.
THE SORCERESS AND THE INCUBUS: The sorceress Rain has spent the past decade struggling to protect the world from meteors falling from the broken sky. She summons a familiar to help - and is answered by an incubus shapeshifter. As time runs out for the world, the two must learn to work together in order to save everyone from a fate only they can prevent.
THE CHANGELING AND THE DRAGON: A human woman raised by unseelie fae escapes death at the hands of slavers, only to end up in life-debt to a part-dragon sorcerer and his full-dragon cousin. Sersha knows she'll be his slave for life. After all, a regular mortal can't hope to save a sorcerer... or can she?
Standalones
HOW TO SLAY A DRAGON: Novella; originally part of the I am the Fire anthology and available for free on Bookfunnel. A dragonslayer finds more than she bargained for when a contract to kill a beast leads her to half-dragon prince driven out of the dragonlands to his mother's kingdom.

I think I have ideas for the world you are building here, in the UTY-TMA crossover AU. (…I hope I managed to get my eye-hands on everything you publically wrote about this. and that my takes are compatible with the rest of what you thought of)
I think I want to put one 'solid' divide between the surface (eyepocalipse) and the underground: while the surface has a clearer-than-ever distinction between Agents and Victims of That Which Is Fear, the underground should have this line as blurred as possible: people who have fear-based abilities are those who are still losing the most from it.
You mentionned Ceroba, because of course, but I think we can do the same for the others.
Dalv: …yeah the Lonely is kinda doing its usual stuff here.
Axis: He will outright tell you he will be here, ready to exploit any obscure loophole in his code to capture and/or kill you… if he chooses so. Completely unpredictable source of violence, requiring both cold logic and the whims of a (semi?)-sentient being. At the same time, following his programming is a duty Axis cannot sidestep, and it often forces him into hurtful and/or painful situations. The Slaughter gets to be a double-edged sword here.
Martlet: I think you've assigned the Spiral to her (or is it the other way around? :) ). I see her both making confusing DIY projects, puzzles, wooden architecture, and getting you lost if you try to follow her. But I see her getting often lost herself, forgetting what she was supposed to do, mixing priorities up. I suggest an often-self-contradicting Royal Guard Handbook she tries to follow. Either because said book was not fully proofread before being sent her way, or because the Spiral itself saw an opportunity in it. …Martlet is forgetting something. Something powerful, something dangerous, something sharp as metal points and broken glass thrown off a building, something as smooth and soft and malleable as… as… who was she talking about?
Flowey: pulls strings from behind the scenes, not realising that even if he wished for time to continue onwards, he would find himself unable to resist. Does he really just want those souls, or did he get addicted to the power to affect everyone else so subtly?
Clover: As you've said, they have been pursued by a terrible fate from the Surface, and they are sure it can and will track them down. At the same time, they know those who live in this Underground are culprits or accomplices in the murder of six children before them (yes, that includes the whole misunderstanding with Chara). Clover will find the ones responsible, no matter how they hide. It's a matter of justice. Right?
Starlo and the Wild East: to entertain themselves, the spaghetti western antics have only grown stronger as a way to forget the intrusions of Fear in the underground. Inhabitants would find themselves spectators one day, acting as bandits the next, as victims the one after that. And if they play especially well, they might find themselves in the coveted position of temporary sidekick to the Feisty(j) Five. Swapping roles as easily as clothes. Seeing others in the position they should have held as a 'civillian' while playing bandit. The saloon's bartender is not Dina today. Right? She calls herself Dina, but she's not the real deal, unlike yesterday, and probably tomorrow. Right? You can't remember her face, but it will come back, in time. Hopefully. In the Wild East, Sheriff North Star chooses who plays what role… but can Starlo recognise his friends anymore? can he recognise himself?
Asgore: Sooner or later, humans who have fallen down in his kingdom will have to meet him, and meet their end. Sooner or later, he will have seven souls, and the barrier will open. Despite the hope this fact brings to his subjects, he knows that getting out of the underground cannot be done without a painful confrontation with the humans of the surface. One way or another, when the barrier will open, he will be judged for his actions, and pay for them with his life. It is not a matter of "if", but "when".
Kanako: the blue-souled human was a good singer, she is sure of this. how else would the burning blue substance in her soul sound this beautiful? She already convinced some fellow goopy monsters to listen to it, and they agree. That ringing blue sound is… the only thing left in this old, abandoned, humid laboratory. …okay that last fear-assignment is kind of a stretch but still. I think the festering EXP/LV from that soul would be quite the Corruption/Slaughter mix. …but the amalgamates do scream "Flesh"… meh.
Decibat, El Baillador, Guardener:… I have no clue? Decibat sounds like a candidate for the Dark but even then…
ok sorry for procrastinating answering this i just needed the time to actually read and answer this /lh
so! most of the stuff yeah you got it! especially flowey - hes definitely an interesting one in this au :p but the only thing thats different actually is the feisty five and the wild east
in terms of plot, the main turning point occurs at the wild east where starlo is able to stop clover's murder spree through the power of Telling The Kid That They Are Just A Kid. cue clover finally having a break where they arent. you know. being hunted or hunting monsters down. the dunes as a whole is mainly occupied by the Vast (people get lost in the sandstorms. a lot.) but the town itself is mostly safeguarded from the fears - is it because of their optimism, or the oppressive heat that always hangs in the air whenever a servant of a fear attempts to approach? nonetheless, this becomes a (short lived) safe haven for clover, free from the fears save for their surroundings and the voice in their head urging them to keep going, to finish their mission - and, perhaps, a little string-pulling by a certain flower

Rating: 3/5
Book Blurb: Ann Sei Lin's enchanting and action-packed debut, first in a series, will sweep readers away to an aerial world of magic, danger and political intrigue. Perfect for fans of Elizabeth Lim, Kalynn Bayron and the films of Studio Ghibli.
Kurara has never known any other life than being a servant onboard the Midori, a flying ship serving the military elite of the Mikoshiman Empire, a vast realm of floating cities. Kurara also has a secret — she can make folded paper figures come to life with a flick of her finger. But when the Midori is attacked and Kurara's secret turns out to be a power treasured across the empire, a gut-wrenching escape leads her to the gruff Himura, who takes her under his wing. Under Himura's tutelage, and with the grudging support and friendship of his crew, Kurara learns to hunt shikigami — wild paper spirits sought after by the Princess of Mikoshima.
But what does the princess really want with the shikigami? Are they merely enchanted figures without will or thought, or are they beings with souls and minds of their own? As fractures begin to appear both across the empire and within Kurara's understanding of herself, Kurara will have to decide who she can trust. Her fate, and the fate of her friends — and even the world — may rest on her choice. And time is running out.
Review:
Paper magic meets Studio Ghibli with a touch of steampunk historical medieval Japan! The story follows Kurara, a girl who works on a large airship. She has a secret, she has the ability to do crafting paper magic. When her best friend is taken she'll do anything to get him back... even striking a deal with the kingdom's fearsome princess. Yet in order to get her attention she'll need hone her skills. She is taken under Himura, another crafter, and his xrew as she learns to hunt down shikigami, wild paper spirits sought after by the Princess. The more she learns about the shikigami and the more she hones her skills, the more she begins to question everything. This is the first book in a duology and while it really did lean into the Studio Ghibli-esque style, it kind of fell flat for me. The story felt a bit boring to me (unfortunately) and the characters were a bit flat. I really wanted to like this one and tried so hard to get through it, yet I constantly found myself zoning out and putting the book down. The story isn't that long yet it felt like it was dragging so much. The protagonist just didn't exactly feel like she had a personality. I feel like this would really work out for someone else but it just didn't work for me. If you like magical steampunk-esque stories with a touch of Studio Ghibli, give this one a go, maybe you'll have a better time with it than I did.
*Thanks Netgalley and Penguin Random House Canada, Tundra Books for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review*

So there is news that they are making a live action Zelda movie. Now, I am a little skeptical how it's going to turn out, not gonna lie. Now, I won't touch on the logistics of live action or who I want casted or why I would prefer animated TV series. What I do want to talk about is what I am looking for in a Legend of Zelda movie.
What I do not want is some typical medieval fantasy epic that is like the Lord of the Rings. Yes, Zelda games are epic, medieval fantasy, but I want is for the movie to stand out as something that is recognizably Zelda.
So first thing, the vibes, mood, however you want to call it. It should be a bit surreal/goofy/weird with an undertone of melancholy. The Zelda weirdness was made prominent by Link's Awakening, and ever since then, it's been a core part of the series's identity. I can't imagine anything Zelda without it. But all of that is balanced by a sense of underlying melancholy and wrongness, something present at least from A Link to the Past, but which Link's Awakening made great use of. There is always a quiet tragedy underlying almost every Zelda story, especially those that are memorable. Majora's Mask exemplifies that aspect the most clearly, an extremely whimsical game with bright colors and crazy characters, but also the world is ending and everyone is dealing with their imminent mortality. Spirit Tracks is sort of the exception to this when it comes to the melancholy part, but also it's a weirdly off beat, self aware entry to the series where the main character is actually Zelda even if you control Link.
Secondly, the theme, it should not be just a battle between good and evil, or some metaphor for war or whatever. Zelda games typically focuses on the following:
-The cyclical nature of things. Heck, it's what Zelda is all about, with the whole timeline and reincarnation shenanigans. The most recent Zelda, Tears of the Kingdom was all about that, what with the whole ourobouros thing as part of the cover symbol. And of course, we literally have the three days cycle in Majora's Mask.
-Fate, Zelda characters often time struggle with their duty that was preordained, or their eventual ending. Breath of the Wild's Zelda is the clearest example of that, where she is tasked with obtaining the divine power as fated by her bloodline, but that is not who she is. She is a scientist, and has zero guidance on what to do. In Link's Awakening, the inhabitants of Koholint struggle with the fact that they are ultimately doomed because they are dreams. In Link Between World, Lorule is doomed, but Princess Hilda is tasked with guiding the inhabitants of this doomed land.
-Growing up and lost innocence. It's a given since they start out like typical adventure stories, most of the Links start as just living their lives like normal, and then something is snatched away and they have to quickly grow up to meet the challenge. It's the part of Zelda that most resembles LotR. Ocarina of Time's Link most exemplifies this, who grew up among the Kokiri children, but is ostracized in his community because he is not like the rest of them. He had to quickly grow up to meet the challenge, with the sword transforming him into an adult, and of course, turns out he is not a Kokiri at all, but an orphaned kid. In Twilight Princess, Link is a farm boy who helps around the community, and hangs out with his friends. But then they are attacked and his friends are snatched away. And there is a focus on these side characters having to find their own inner bravery and stuff.
-Nostalgia, learning from the past, and looking towards the future. I mean Ganondorf is a villain who just can't freaking stop coming back. Wind Waker is the game where this theme is most prominent, as Ganondorf wishes to turn back the clock and restore the flooded Hyrule kingdom to the way it once was, while the ghost of the former king of Hyrule wishes for the next generation to create something new. Majora's Mask is also a game that tackles nostalgia really well.
These are some of what I could think of that one could draw as inspirations for the script of a Zelda movie, but done so in a digestible 2-3 hours format. I would personally go for a wholly original story with a new Link incarnation, but it could also be a new adventure for an already existing Link.

Some random notes about an OUAT queer rewrite fic I will never write, but have been planning since I was ten:
- Everything is campy and dorky but also angst.
- SwanQueen is the main ship. Emma and Regina are destined for each other.
- Cora is the worst and main bad guy, spread the news.
- Instead of the weird plot twist we got the Dark Fairy is just Blue. She invented a foe so she could have control under the faries, she is the real main antagonist. Sorry, Cora.
- Snow and Charming are both trans. Snow is transfem and nb while Charming is transmasc. Charming was the one who was pregnant with Emma. He entered in the coma cause the attacks in the mist of having birth in a place with medieval medicine is hard. Snow never got pierced by a sword because she is an archer, she doesn't figth at a short distance.
- Charming's twin was not trans though. She just posed as a man because the king didn't want his heir to be a woman, the asshole also saw David as another girl playing pretend because he sucks. Jaimie may or may not be more relevant than just flashback evil twin sister and have a fake death and her own redemption arc instead.
- While most kingdoms in the Enchanted Florest are unfortunaly very bigoted, Snow's kingdom was part of the few who were very open minded and saw no problem with queerness.
- The reason why Snow's name is the only "weird" name in her kingdom is because when she came out as trans, she was ten and her dad let she choose the name, the kingdom was very prosperous and very bored so people sent her letters with name ideas. Unfortunally she was ten and as someone who went by Lemon when I was discovering myself as trans (and I was 15 at the time!) and still goes by it sometimes (though I mostly use Nico or my brithname cause names only have gender if you're a coward) I can atest thar transkids choose the most wild things.
- Zelena has a way different backstory. She is still Cora's lost daugther and still has an awfull adoptive dad that hates her 'cause she has magic. But everything after that is completly different. I didn't flash it all out yet, but she joins the four witches of directions, they became a family and Glinda and Zelena became lovers, even raising little princess Ozma.
- The problem is, there is something wrong with Oz. No one knows why, but the fate of every magic user in there has already been writen and they are forced to mantain it or Oz and everyone in it will ceasse to exist (the reason for it is because Oz was created by genie wish). And thanks to that Zelena has to be a villan and sacrifice her happines with Glinda and Ozma.
- She mets Rumple while looking for a way to solve her situacion and after discovering she is Cora's daugther Rumple promisses to help thinking he can manipulate and use her to cast the dark curse. But he soon realizes she won't accept to sacrifice the heart of her loved ones for the curse and, while he respects her for it, this means he has no use for her and therefore he breaks their partnership. She hates him because he promissed to help and never delivered. She was the second deal he broke and he doesn't even realize it at the time.
- She despises Regina because Regina choose to be a villan. In her partial vision of things, Regina is the cause of her own problems while Zelena literally had no choice on her own tragedy and "wickedness", Regina choose to be the Evil Queen. Will she realize that Regina have little choise between a selfish (desperated) imp and an abusive mother? Who knows?
- There is a prophesy in Oz that says a chosen savior will fix the land and bring back the free will and equilibrium to the realm. It is about Dorothy. But unfortunally missunderstandings lead to the people of Oz thinking it is about Emma and so instead of time travel, Zelena's evil plan is a ploy to bring Emma back to Storybrook and kidnap her so she can force her to solve a problem she literaly can't.
- Regina and Henry are the ones who save the day by discovering Dorothy and bringing her and her family to Oz. By saving Oz the realm is rebuild and now part of Storybrook. And that is how Zelena stays in the narrative. Except she has no other villan arcs nor rapey moments and instead is living her best life with her wife and kid, she still has her sarcastic personality and a slow build fixing of her relationship with her sister.
- Since I rewrote Zelena story (because I love Zelena's personality and Oz stories but hate her plots and the constant rapey vibes the writers give her) and by extension made Dorothy younger there is no Dorothy and Ruby. But there is Ruby and Belle and Dorothy and Ozma (who exists and can be her nb lesbian self who was totaly Dorothy love interest in the Oz books idc).
- Lastly, instead of developing a badly done enemies to lovers relationship with Regina, Robin Hood (played by a different actor in my mind for reasons) develops an enemies to brotops ship with both Mills sisters. In my universe Marian never died and they raised Roland together and are happily maried. Unfortunally both he and Marian end up dying in combat and Regina and Zelena (with help from Emma and Glinda and the Merry Man) have to raise Roland and Robin Jr. (who is not Zelena's daugther in this world). Robin Jr. and Alice will be a couple.
- Baefire and Neal aren't the same person. Neal is a magical clone, he doesn't know that and it's weird. I won't explain. Bae is still in Neverland and very traumatazed and now Rumple has two angry abandoned sons to deal with. He deserves the hardship.
- Since we are keeping the fixing villans who had potencial and a cool personality but were dragged on the mud. Let's go to dear old Rumple. Except for his mother being the Black Fairy (he had two fallen fairies spinisters aunts though and I will use the queercoded meaning of spinister here) his story is very similar until the point he abandons Baefire. More or less.
- Why more or less? You will see.
- I will change the Dark One origins cause I hate the Camelot Saga almost as much as the Black Fairy one.
- Anyway. Season one Rumple is almost perfect so the only change I'll make is Rumbelle. Because I'm a campy queer dork, I will keep my idea of Belle being lesbian and Rumple being gay.
- Basically thanks to an old book Belle discovered that an old necklace her mother gave her had strong magical porperties. So as her kingdon suffered against the ogers, she decided to make a deal with Rumplestiltskin. She would give him the necklace and in turn he would defeat the ogers, as her dad would object and the time it would take to convince him would cost lifes she opts for a deal made in secret. But while making the deal, Rumple shows interest in the book were she found the information about the necklace and tries to fish for another deal so he can have both. Now Avonela is one of the most bigoted kingdoms in the realm and Bella knows she will be forced to marry Gaston, a brute, she utterly dislikes, not only that but she will have to lie forever about being a lesbian (a thing Rumple gets cause before being the Dark One he too was a homosexual who lived in a bigoted comunity and was forced into conforming to the straight norm, marrying a woman and having a kid). So she decides to trade the book in exchage for a chance to escape. After a long discussion the two decide to fake a deal with Belle's dad where Rumple asks for her as the price, so they woudn't try to find her.
- After the deal, Belle has no place to go and after a inside battle with the sentient curse inside him, Rumple takes pity on Belle and decides to let her stay with him in the castle (he tries to find excuses about how that was not him being nice but Belle ignores them).
- Now Belle isn't a maid nor a prissioner. She can go whenever she wants and she does travel on her own sometimes looking for adventure(and that means she has way less conections when the show starts) but she always comes back (because the stability of having a home matters). She is a roomate. She does clean the place, but is more because she feels like she has to pay Rumple someway for letting her stay there. He thinks is completly ridiculous she is cleaning a magical castle that can do it by itself and accuses her of spoiling his house but the casttle clearly loves it.
- She and Rumple are not a couple. They aren't atracted to each other at all. She doesn't like man and he doesn't like woman. They are just two lonley people living together who understand each other and soon they are best friends. But they live in an heteronormative world and people assume they are a couple and are very shocked when they discover they aren't, specially because they are purposefully ambiguous and little shits about it for fun. Charming suffers the most.
- Charming and Rumple are kindda friends. Mostly becauee Charming and Rumple kindda bonded over David's quest to find Snow and he thinks Rumple has some good on him, specially whe he discovers the Dark One curse is sentient and speaks with Rumple, also because he is genuinally concern about this man mental health and thinks he needs someone to say "for god sake go to therapy" from time to time.
- My Rumple is less evil and more the neutral force he was on the first seasons. And after finding Bae he activally tries to be good to mend his relationship with his son (his sons since Bae got an adult magic clone). He also actually seeks help for his trauma and awfull mental health on general, though it is mostly cause David and Belle coerced him. David and Belle also coerced Emma, Regina, Zelena, Dorothy, Maleficent, Lily, Grumpy and honestly half of the town onto seeking mental health. They even found other therapists besides Archie (mostly normal peasants, though one of them was possibly Aladin's geenie) with different psycological main theory/area. Ironically, they had to be coerced into also seeking theraphy.
- Ruby and Belle are dating. They started as friends but them one day Rubby was drunk and said "if you weren't dating the Dark One, I would kiss you" and Belle said "I'm not" and at first Rubby was like "haha funny" and them she was "wait really?" and Belle said "Yep" and they kissed. That being said Ruby was sure Belle and Rumple were at least exes for a long time. And she was jealous of him since the two still lived together. Until one day she confronted them, Rumple just laughed and Belle explained the whole thing to her. Rumple - who is way older and should be the mature one - only added sarcastic comentary, giggled and made fun of the whole situacion. He also interrupted the explanation with random reasons he would never date Belle just to annoy her (Gold is the persona for non-friends, friends keep the annoying flamboyant dark one from the EF, good luck to them).
- Ruby joined David into the list people who had a weird friendship with Rumple after that. The list was them, Emma (who doesn't want to but has protagonist powers and is begrundgly friends with everyone in town) and Belle.
- On the other side of queer besties who aren't a couple we have the power bi duo: Hook and Emma. Though Killian had a crush on Emma in the begnning.
- But this Killian can take no as an answer. And he and Emma stay good friends. He is one of the biggest suporters of Emma's Evil Queen themed bi panics and later of their relationship.
- He and Rumple still hate each other, but they both have a truce, because they both are trying to be better and reconstruct their lifes. They will still insult each other ever chance they get.
- He and Regina start on the wrong foot, and for a while have an epic bi to bi hostility but they end up becoming friends.
- Neal doesn't die. Instead since they find Bae in Neverland he is having an existencial crisis in the background. The shock of unreality is a great motivator into not pursuing Emma and they keep a tense friendship that evolves into a real one. He is also close to Hook. Henry is bent on helping him figure it all out.
- While Bae and Rumple recover their relationship. Neal and Rumple never really do. They are in a better place, but it's still complicated.
- He becomes a close friend of Bae. Since the other him also wants to discover what is going on, specially since in the begining they didn't know who was the real one.
- More than that, Neal is the babysitter of it all. And ends up having to keep an eye and deal with the shennanigans of Henry, Ozma, Dorothy, and Bae. (And sometimes Gretel, Hansel and Grace)
- He ends up developing a big friendship with Snow. He is also close with Hook, Glinda, Zelena, Marian and Robin.
- Henry has more time to shinny as kid detective. Specially because thanks to my changes he actually gets friends close to his age.
- Henry is aroace. He is the author.
- Later there will he a bonus tale of adult Henry and teen Robin acting as an detective duo (Henry is a wanderring P.I who travels to magic realms solving important mysteries and them publishs his adventures in the Land Without Magic where he is known as a great fiction writer) find a realm created by a geenie wish with alternative versions of themselfs who are figthing to save their world as the gennie magic fades. Is there where Robin finds Alice.
- Regina did not have any relations with Graham. She stole his heart as a punishment but never used it for anything.
- There is a lot of other things but I'm tired so this is all for now.

❝ I act as if I don’t care if people dislike me. Deep down… I ͜s̕e̵cretlỳ ͏enjoy ͟it́. ̵❞͏
Tumblr media
Dive.
For the places they bring forth their conversations, reality itself bends and cries out, giving providence to the power of Heart that affixes the ground they stand upon with suitable strength.
By now fangs poised in a dangerous grin were stirring onto a familiarity, twisted and comfortable. It manages to distract him from how the malevolent powers treat the surroundings like acid coating. It finds contentment in distorting, allowing the creeping horror of the imagination to become its kingdom, leading to situations where it feels as if hell itself always welcome Sora.
Yet never does he turn away. For all of his boundless freedom, purpose and DRIVE will always lead him towards the restrained, braving the very real possibility of countless forces that would joyfully rip him to shreds, to prove that such forces were never made to exist within the almighty force of Kingdom Hearts itself.
Keeping his eyes leveled with the malicious radiance of Shadow's, those eyes seared with cerulean grace would never falter, always bringing forth recognition above anything else. By the keybearer's very nature, seeing an existence, being a willing witness to the best of what they could be, regardless of the price of potential betrayal and sorrow.. That has always served as an essential foundation for who he is, for what makes that strength of this king ignite like few would ever dare.
After all. Who would dare become the joy that swims curiously within an ocean of agony, refusing to bend in the name of comfort?
"And is that all there is to it?" Sora's words were sharp and to the point, a sense of respect carried with this level of forwardness. "Or is enjoying it one of the best ways you can make yourself deal with it?!" Acceptance in one vein is a natural sign of growth, to know that not all hearts are fated to mesh, that many are made to collide. Still. It never just means to relish in such a concept! Letting those frantic, poisonous edges become a form of inner peace felt so impossible to conceive within his mind.
Thus his advance begins towards Shadow. Even with their brands of uniting, the natural hostility between them has never left.. and in a strange sense of irony, it's this heaviness made by their respective clash that he does as a comfort between them. It felt like a tangible force to let him see Sasaki and Shadow, and not find himself lost in the horrors of their potential.
Tumblr media
A strange sense of calm keeps his own heart elevated. Whether it was forged from their repeated crossings, the hells endured, or just gaining a new height of wanting to understand it all... Sora truly couldn't answer. He finds his peace in feeling it, and doesn't hesitate to carry this unknown strength.
Even now as their Hearts call forth, that grand darkness would find it's opposing link, scintillating light drawing around his figure akin to a flame reaching a flourishing peek. Wild, rolling and free, bringing 'normalcy' to balance the decaying distortion, leaving motes of light to dance listlessly within the surrounding space. "..Even when they understand so little about you? How can you find yourself just.." Teeth clenching momentarily, the words are followed with an expressive wave of the hand. "Accept that!?"
"Isn't that just thriving on fear that you're only a part of?"

Can I have some fated mates recs? I've personally loved all of Ruby Dixon's and Kresley Cole's, but the well is growing kind of dry. Any suggestions would be great, thanks!
I have some recs! It's hard to find this done well, but it can happen.
Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling series has that all up in there. It's not quite as wild as IAD, but the point of it is that these Vulcan-type people get mixed up with some very earthy, sensual shapeshifters who do have the mating bond thing going on. I definitely want to read more.
Mating the Huntress by Talia Hibbert. A softer version of this, short and sexy and great for a Halloween read especially. The hero is a werewolf who recognizes this random woman as his mate... But she's descended from a family of werewolf hunters, oops!
Run, Run Rabbit by C.M. Nascosta. I don't know that this is quite fated mates, and the two definitely have a pretty intense toxic relationship in the best possible way (they're both resisting the call, especially him) but the heroine does start to realize that there's some mating bond stuff happening. They're both werewolves and lawyers and work together, and develop this frenemy sexual relationship that becomes complicated as feelings seep in.
Laura Thalassa's Four Horsemen series--each book is one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse coming to Earth to do his worst, only to meet a woman he just immediately attaches himself to because fated mates. The women usually hate him. I will say that there are some things in the series I find questionable (War touching down in the Middle East of aaaaalllllll the places he could've appeared was a Choice) but a lot of it is very campy fun. They're pretty gory and death-filled, as a heads up. Would recommend reading in order.
C.L. Wilson's Weathermages of Mystral series is high fantasy romance with some biiiig mating bond/fated mates shit. Would again recommend reading in order, and it does appear that we're in for a good wait on book 3, but it's so so so good. The first book takes place when the king of basically the winter kingdom (he has ice powers--think hot dude Elsa) conquers the summer kingdom, and as part of the peace negotiations he agrees to marry one of the king's daughters, with some pretty intense strings (if she doesn't get pregnant within a year he's gonna LEAVE HER ON A GLACIER TO DIE LMAO). The summer king is horrible and basically sets the hero up to marry the daughter he hates, and so it's this whole arranged marriage deal with this very literally frosty hero and intensely emotional, headstrong heroine, but also he has a wolf-level sense of smell and immediately recognizes that SOMETHING........ ain't right here. Or is TOO right.
The second book doubles down on the mating bond thing and is also so so good, but I will give a heads up that it does involve some pretty intense on the page sexual assault (not by the hero). It's recognized as such and the book makes a big deal over the heroine's recovery, even though she doesn't fully recognize what happened as what it was, essentially.
Kristen Callihan's Darkest London series is a little ambiguous on this front--it takes place in a Victorian London populated by various supernatural creatures. I wouldn't say book 1 is heavy on this concept, but book 2, Moonglow, (which has a werewolf hero and an elemental witch heroine) gets more into it, and I also got that implication in book 5, Evernight (demon hero and elemental witch heroine). For meeee, this series has really been scratching the IAD itch in a big way, as it has a similarly morally gray world with a lot of dramatic supernatural plots, and super passionate love stories.

HSFR Guardian and Sage: A Rant
Before I start listing their parallels, I wanna talk about Guardian for a second. Guardian is the product of both a long line of esteemed royal guards and a much longer line of a people who are religiously devout to serving the goddesses blood. Even without his fate being sealed as Hyrule's Hero (which he didn’t learn for a while), he never really had a choice in what he was going to be. He was raised to follow in both of his parents footsteps, each one carried a heavy weight of expectations, and that was long before he was revealed to be the hero. He was trained at a very young age both as a knight and as a sheikah warrior and he was expected to be nothing else. All he knows is to be a soldier, to follow orders and make them as needed of him. He can’t even consider being anything else because he doesn’t think that he’s able or allowed to be anything else. He’s both heavily religiously obligated and bound my a hereditary code of honor to serve the royal family and likely die for it.
Then suddenly, after the most chaotic few days of his life (not including when the calamity was a thing), he’s set to be apart of the family he was sworn from two sides to protect with his life. His purpose is flipped, he can’t be the protector anymore because he’s going to be the king! Everything he was taught is turned on its head because he’s on the other side of his religious and knightly duty of guarding and guiding the royal family. So he’s dealing with that...
And while Guardian is dealing with pressure that’s only increasing after the Calamity, leaving him mostly mute (which he has to change bc public speaking as the king is going to be a thing), Sage is free from all that. When he was done fighting the calamity and mummy ganondorf, he’s released from all the duty and stress. He’s the freedom to Guardian’s captivity. He’s the free will to Guardian’s lack of choice. It took the complete destruction of the monarchy and his own death for Sage to escape the fate that Guardian is currently facing. He had to lose his memories of his family and entire life before the calamity to escape it. So it isn’t like Sage didn’t suffer for his freedom.
Sage and Scholar escaped from their lives drenched in societal pressure and being constantly in the spotlight at all times. They’re happy to just be hermits in the wild who occasionally show up at random civilizations to visit their friends and sell astoundingly powerful potions. Scholar gets to indulge heavily in her research and experiment with her appearance and hobbies while Heir has to give them up to slowly take over her fathers responsibilities, though with Guardians partnership she might be able to have time to do things other than ruling. Also since the Yiga clan isn’t a problem and the kingdom is pretty stable and not on the verge of war, most problems she deals with are traditionalists not wanting her to change things and her trying to implement sheikah technology after the 10,000 year old decision to ban and fear it.
Don’t get me wrong, Guardian and Heir aren’t like in the bad timeline where they’re completely trapped and unhappy forever, they saved the kingdom and defeated the calamity (but unlike in the botw timeline it didn’t give up on reincarnation so it will come back in 10,000 years or so), They learn to cope with their situations and deal with them without losing themselves to their duties. They still have their families and the champions and the kingdom is still standing.
But I’ve been focusing on their differences, Guardian and Sage are also surprisingly similar. They’re still the same person deep down. There are some things that even complete memory loss can’t take away. They act very similarly, though Sage is slightly more outspoken. They both eat rocks and are good with little kids and love to both cook and eat and they get very confused when people flirt with them and they really should be getting therapy and they love horses and they have the exact same soft laugh and they know the same songs and are friends with the Koroks. They’re always the first to try to sacrifice themselves which is kinda concerning, they both have the vai outfit and they like going to Gerudo Town, though Guardian’s hair and eyes are pretty recognizable but none of the Gerudo mind, their chief was the one to give him the outfit anyway and he deserves some semblance of anonymity. They both love animals and have a wild variety of weapons that they can use, and Mipha almost has a heart attack when she sees that there’s two of them. They often find each other saying the same thing at the same time, which is funny most of the time. Anyway I can probably think of more things to say but my cat wants to go outside and he needs to be supervised so I gtg.

THE VENGEFUL ADVISOR...
this is one of two fantasy verses for cassie. if you are looking for the most general possible overview: she is an advisor to the royal family. she is beloved by the general population, a lot of which view her as a saint. she orchestrated the downfall and murder of her own mother. she is not looking to accumulate more power, but merely to keep her standing and ensure pleasant connections with those around her.
triggers: miscarriages, pregnancy, arranged marriage,
timeline:
0 - 5: cassie and her family grow up in poverty in a rural village. her mother becomes known as a great healer; there is an assumption that she has some sort of powers and conenction to the otherwise. while this would usually result in her murder, cassie’s mother is smart and helps out eagerly, which makes her a solid part of the community. cassie is a pleasant, sweet child who is doted on-- her mother claims she was a difficult birth. her mother lies easily and says cassie was dead the second she was born, but her mother brought her back.
5 - 6: cassie’s mother is disastisfied with her life. the king and queen expect a baby, and soon-- the queen has lost five children already and worries that this will be lost. hearing the story of cassie’s mother and the miracle that was cassie’s birth, she calls them to the castle. offering comfort and luxury in exchange for helping her through the birth, cassie’s mother gladly accepts. from six onwards, cassie and her sisters are raised in the castle.
6 - 10: a beautiful and safe birthing occurs. the baby lives a healthy life. cassie’s mother consolidates her position by trading favours and potions, underhand dealings that ensure she stays beneath the radar of most. the king takes her into his confidance, noticing how much power she has quickly earned. magic is outlawed, but she uses hers favourably for the king. weeding out spies, dealing with threats. by the time cassie is ten, her mother is the closest person to the king.
10 - 15: the rikes are wild girls and often journey into the village, making friends and enemies wherever they go. all the rikes seem to have a talent for mischief, but only three of them have a talent for magic. foresight and dream - walking and charms, they all blossom beautiful. cassie, though, does not manifest a gift. this is blamed on her father.
15 - 16: worried about her daughter, a girl with no particular skills, her mother takes advantage of the aging king. she pours pestilence and deceit into his ear about how soon his death will send the kingdom into disarray-- he needs to prepare the prince for ruling. to do so, he would need a wife, and who better than cassandra rike? she lies about cassandra, promising the king that she will bear sons with the same powers as her mother. she makes cassie perform parlour tricks for the king, little lies that make her seem as if she possesses magic ability.
16: cassie rots with her anger. she is being sold like a cow at the market. she makes nice with the prince, a boy she has grown up alongside, as sweet to him as a sister. she knows that her future is barreling ahead of her. if she does not make an effort to change it, she will soon be promised a fate of servitude and diligence to the prince.
17: she works slowly, but methodically. she learned from her mother. the herbs her mother sells to the council are replaced-- soon, there are outbreaks of pox, death spreading throughout the castle. cassie whispers her lies: the chief advisor, no longer content with her position, has been poisoning nobles. wariness grows. in the town, cassie frequents taverns, bars, red light houses. she tells them stories of a destroyed nation, blighted by witchcraft. she refuses a marriage to the prince, citing her parentage as the reason-- why would she pollute her dear kingdom?
18: her mother’s position is the weakest it has ever been. the queen tries to birth a new son, but it dies in the womb. cassie knows this is her chance: she appeals to the king, whose council is now mostly dead or incapicated. something must be done about this. her mother must be removed-- and with no one else to turn to, cassandra takes the post of chief advisor. her mother is dethroned. hearing of this through cleo, her mother storms into cassandra’s quarters. the two argue, and her mother strikes her. cassie breaks, grabs a dagger, and kills her mother. the body is disposed of through fire. most believe she ran away when she lost her position, others believe cassandra killed her; the townspeople through a banquet to honour their saint, the witch - killer.
onwards: cassie assumes her role as chief advisor to the king, who passes away a year after her mother. the prince takes over the kingdom and cassie keeps her position. she keeps herself in favour the same way her mother did, with underhand dealings.

Summary
Eternal was a 1997 role-playing video game developed by Nintendo and released on the Game Boy. The 2021 remake of the game, Eternal Rediscovered, was released on the Nintendo Switch.
The player controls an unnamed protagonist who is the lost prince of the fictional kingdom of Eterna who works to reach his kingdom to regain his title. There are achievements in game for several goals which can unlock a total of 3 endings, changed to 5 in the remake.
Eternal released to critical acclaim but was said to be overshadowed by various Nintendo products of the time.
Gameplay
Eternal is played in a third-person view with an overhead perspective. It includes three screens - an overworld screen, a battle screen and a party screen where the player can configure themselves and their companions.
The player recruits three different types of companions, humans, cave dwellers and monsters, each with their advantages and disadvantages, with 8 being recruited by the main storyline, 5 being recruited by encountering them in the overworld, and 3 being code exclusive.
Battling follows a typical RPG turn format, with moves being categorised by three types: Attack, Support and Divine. Attack type moves deal damage to the opponent, support type moves directly affect the character and/or the party, and divine type moves combine both types, but can only be used by certain characters.
Achievements can be unlocked in game, and the ending varies depending on which achievements were unlocked, which increases the length of the story. These are the Locked Ending, the Friendship Ending and the Real Ending, which can be achieved by gaining all companions (excluding code exclusive ones) and defeating all of the monster bosses excluding Dae.
Plot
The 16-year old protagonist begins in the small farming town of Collis in the country of Somn. After finding a letter in their late father’s house, they learn their true origins and how they must seek out the kingdom of Eterna to claim their rightful place as prince.
Early into their journey, the protagonist meets a cave dweller called Prim who saves them from being eaten by monsters and becomes the first companion of the prince, which introduces the player to the mechanics of fighting and companions as the protagonist is given their first weapon.
Along his journey, the prince recruits companions to help him find Infidel and fights the demon Dae, his monster minions and his brainwashed victims.
Depending on the achievements of the player, the Prince has three different fates, which are being locked up for eternity by Dae, deciding not to return to Eterna and live with his companions, or take his rightful place on the throne. These are referred to by fans as the Bad Ending, the Romance Ending and the Good Ending.

Due to its move to a stronger and more powerful console, Eternal was changed to an open world game inspired by previous titles on the Switch such as Breath of the Wild, and more detail was given to its characters, lore and achievements.
Eternal Rediscovered was as critically acclaimed as its predecessor due to the graphic change and new options given to players.
Gameplay
The game follows the same core gameplay as the previous game, now in an open world environment with immersive nature and monsters. However, it now grants the player the long-awaited ability to romance companions of any species or either gender, leading to many popularity polls amongst players and official staff.
The achievements were also changed, where players could gain new achievements for finding special weapons and items, and romancing companions, which could lead to the Adventurer Ending and the Beach Ending respectfully under specific conditions. The Real Ending of the previous game was changed to the Good Ending, and the Real Ending is given to a player who achieves every achievement in one playthrough.
Plot
