"97% of all water in Gaza is not safe for human consumption." with caption below- "Systemic change for collective liberation" -percentage/figure is from the United Nations [@/ theslowfactory on X. 01/08/24.]
"On 28 July 2010, through Resolution 64/292, the United Nations General Assembly explicitly recognized the human right to water and sanitation and acknowledged that clean drinking water and sanitation are essential to the realisation of all human rights. The Resolution calls upon States and international organisations to provide financial resources, help capacity-building and technology transfer to help countries, in particular developing countries, to provide safe, clean, accessible and affordable drinking water and sanitation for all." "In November 2002, the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights adopted General Comment No. 15 on the right to water. Article I.1 states that "The human right to water is indispensable for leading a life in human dignity. It is a prerequisite for the realization of other human rights". Comment No. 15 also defined the right to water as the right of everyone to sufficient, safe, acceptable and physically accessible and affordable water for personal and domestic uses." "Sufficient. The water supply for each person must be sufficient and continuous for personal and domestic uses. These uses ordinarily include drinking, personal sanitation, washing of clothes, food preparation, personal and household hygiene. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), between 50 and 100 litres of water per person per day are needed to ensure that most basic needs are met and few health concerns arise." "Safe. The water required for each personal or domestic use must be safe, therefore free from micro-organisms, chemical substances and radiological hazards that constitute a threat to a person's health. Measures of drinking-water safety are usually defined by national and/or local standards for drinking-water quality. The World Health Organization (WHO) Guidelines for drinking-water quality provide a basis for the development of national standards that, if properly implemented, will ensure the safety of drinking-water." "Acceptable. Water should be of an acceptable colour, odour and taste for each personal or domestic use. [...] All water facilities and services must be culturally appropriate and sensitive to gender, lifecycle and privacy requirements." "Physically accessible. Everyone has the right to a water and sanitation service that is physically accessible within, or in the immediate vicinity of the household, educational institution, workplace or health institution. According to WHO, the water source has to be within 1,000 metres of the home and collection time should not exceed 30 minutes." "Affordable. Water, and water facilities and services, must be affordable for all. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) suggests that water costs should not exceed 3 per cent of household income."
Outlined by the United Nations very CLEARLY -yet Gaza, like Tigray and Sudan, and nearly a billion people concentrated in specific spaces in the world are SUFFERING because of rampant inaction of western imperialistic governments and figurehead organizations. This IS a massive human rights violation -the IOF is DEPRIVING Palestinian people of basic necessities and is starving them... it's absolutely stunning to me that something like this isn't front page on ALL major news sources. If this was somewhere in Europe or Australia or Canada then there would be international outcry -97%!!! Despicable.

PRESS BRIEFING BY IDF SPOKESPERSON, REAR ADMIRAL DANIEL HAGARI
"Good evening. Tomorrow we will gather with our loved ones and celebrate the Passover Seder. A moment before the holiday that marks freedom, it is impossible not to think about those whose freedom was taken from them in an immensely cruel way. Passover will mark 200 days of the very real and painful absence of the hostages. Our moral obligation to return the 133 hostages and release them to freedom takes on an additional meaning today. If the hostages hear us, I turn to you now - we will fight until you return home to us. Dear families of the hostages, we know that these are unbearable days for you and we promise that we will do everything, everything to return your loved ones.
IDF forces are deployed along the entire length of the borders of the State of Israel to ensure the safety of the citizens of the State of Israel. Even during the holiday, we must continue to be vigilant and adhere the Home Front Command instructions. The instructions remain unchanged. If there are any changes, we will inform you immediately, responsibly and transparently. At the front of our minds, is the security of our citizens.
This week, In Gaza, we completed another operation in the central Gaza Strip against Hamas to destroy terrorist infrastructure and terrorists in order to prevent Hamas from restoring its capabilities. All the while there are forces operating inside Gaza alongside additional forces preparing for the next moves in the war. Today, the Chief of the General Staff was at the Southern Command and approved the next moves in the war.
This week, on the northern border, we struck targets of the Hezbollah terrorist organization, including aerial defense array infrastructure deep inside Lebanon. We are aware of the great difficulty endured by the residents of the north who have been away from their homes for such a long time. We are determined to continue to target Hezbollah, to push it to the north and to create a security reality that will allow the residents of the north to return to their homes safely.
In Judea and Samaria, IDF, ISA and Israel Border Police soldiers completed a counter-terrorism operation in the Tulkarm area in which we eliminated terrorists, apprehended suspects, destroyed explosive production laboratories, and confiscated many weapons. IDF forces continue to operate in Judea and Samaria around the clock to counter terrorism and protect the roads. We are strengthening the defense before and during the holiday.
Many regular and reserve IDF soldiers will celebrate the holiday when they are far from home, but they will celebrate the Seder together. I would like to thank and express such great appreciation to all the families of the reserve and career personnel, for the support which they receive at home, this support is very important to us. In the last few days, we have completed the preparations for the holiday and all the soldiers in the field will be served a warm and proper holiday meal.
We do not forget those who are not with us tonight after they fought and fell on the battlefield. Dear bereaved families, on the eve of the holiday like every other day of the year, the pain is too much to bear, your loved one who sacrificed the most precious of all did it so that we could live here, we do not forget and will not forget, we are together with you."

The prompts are in and our list has been finalized! As per our guidelines, any participants are free to interpret the prompts as they see fit, but if anything is unclear or you'd like a little more direction, we've got a handy guide below the cut!
February: Duty/Work. This week is themed around the job-- as Subway Boss, Warden, or anything that suits your vision!
(On the) Job Training: What did it take for Ingo to get where he is? Was it fun? Difficult? Is he trying to learn the ropes for a second time?
Team Track: It's very interesting to see a person coordinate and work so closely with their sibling well into adulthood. How do the twins work together? What's their favorite part? Does it ever get annoying-- on purpose, or just by way of how tight knit they are?
Accommodation: Are there any daily challenges that Ingo needs help with? What does it take to communicate with lips that won't emote? Does he have any injuries or conditions that he needs to keep on top of to stay in working order?
Foreign Travel: The Subway Boss has been all over Unova, and the Warden knows his way around the Hisui, but where else has he been? Did he see anything interesting, or meet new people and Pokemon?
Workplace Injury: Even the best safety measures can't prevent every injury. Has Ingo ever been injured on the job? Had to tend to someone else?
Station Master: What's a trainer without their team? Whether or not it's a Pokemon he trains or handles, show us a Pokemon you associate with Ingo!
Emergency Exit: It's important to know where your entry and exit points are; be it a mechanical failure, cave in, or routine evacuation drill, show or tell us about a time escape was the only option.
March: Off-Duty/Home. This week, it's time for a break! Whether home is Unova or Hisui, it's time to settle in and rest.
RXR: Not a railroad crossing, but rest and relaxation! What's the best way to make use of time off the clock? IS there time off the clock, or is work never ending?
Maintenance: It's best to leave work at work, but sometimes it comes home with you. What needs to happen to keep this a well oiled machine? Alternately, what might a sick day look like?
Diversion: Some people breed Pokemon and some attend musicals. What kind of hobbies does Ingo keep? Any particularly notable interests (apart from the obvious)?
No Legendaries on the Train: This couldn't go any earlier, or we'd be breaking the rules. Does Ingo have any ties to or friendships with a legendary or mythical Pokemon? Maybe you associate him with one? What's the story there?
:3 : Everybody smile!
Dining Car: Whether it's unique preferences, sensitivities or preparation, everybody has opinions where food is concerned. What are some of Ingo's?
Familiar Tracks: Unova is a region with a deep history and culture, and Hisui is set in its own ways. Does Ingo observe any traditions? Hold any cultural beliefs?
April: Truth & Ideals. This week is about history and aspiration!
Admission: How, exactly, did Ingo end up in Hisui? Whether you ascribe to his version of events or what the art book seems to imply, there's a story there, so what is it?
Rookie: What was life like before assuming his job? Was his role something he strove toward, or fortunate happenstance?
Branching Line: We have a very good idea what one member of Ingo's family is like, but apart from Emmet, who else is there? Familiar faces? Someone we've never seen? Is there anything interesting in the twins' family tree?
Pearl Clan: The Pearl Clan took Ingo in, but then what? Under what circumstances? Are they happy to have an outside perspective, or are those rough tracks to travel?
Ghost Train: There are ghosts in Ingo's past, both literal and figurative. Does anything continue to haunt him?
Historical Accuracy: We've seen traces of Hisui in modern day Sinnoh, so let's crack open a history book. How, if at all, is Warden Ingo remembered?
Everything Changes: Things won't be the same when (or if) Ingo finally gets home, but that's not always a bad thing. Show us that different doesn't mean worse.
May: Dream World. This week is about what we won't see on screen, so make sure your imagination is in high gear!
Off-Script: We've gotten a peek into a world where Ingo didn't wind up in Hisui, so let's explore that idea. Whether he disappeared and wound up somewhere else, or stayed safely in Unova, what else do you suppose could have happened?
Fresh Coat of Paint: It's well established how attached Ingo is to his coat, but let's give it a break of its own. Whether it's for fashion, fun or function, it's time to play dress up!
Alternator/X-ing: Do you have an AU or crossover you'd like to tell us about? A favorite you want to dip into? Now's the time!
Mirror Image: Maybe things got a little too intense yesterday-- now we're looking at two of the same person! Is Ingo interacting with a past or future version of himself? An alternate universe counterpart? Give us a peek into how it goes!
Train of Thought: Do you have any headcanons you want to share? If there's nothing in particular, then tell us a little bit about how you view Ingo. No two individuals-- or their thoughts-- are exactly identical, after all!
Union Station: It's a big world out there, with an impossible amount of interesting people! Who's someone you'd like to introduce Ingo to? Maybe it's an unlikely friendship or rivalry?
A Higher State: Where do we go from here? Whether it's what you think is most realistic, compelling, or what you personally want to see, give us an ending!
Thank you to everybody who submitted prompt suggestions! While they might not appear verbatim, we've tried to carry the spirit in the list above!

How did your boss drama work out? Were you able to get the necessary documentation?
Oh our argument was literally not that serious this time. I was just being petty.
One part of it ( the bigger part of my original email) was about the fact that we’re so short staff are they had to rearrange my schedule and send me home early on Tuesday and then he betrayed me over it. And I was essentially saying “Check yourself.” Because he doesn’t have that little part of the brain that warns you when you’ve stepped over the line at all so I have to tell him.
The quicker part of the email which is what I chose to drag on because I realised he done fucked up: was about my footwear. I know that he makes us all wear black shoes (he himself wears brown) and I have previously worn a variety of cookies of docs and it hasn’t been a problem. But everyone else wears sneakers and I have been recently as well because honestly: they’re more comfortable.
I purchased these shoes which no: are not entirely black, but bear in mine the hygienist at my office wears white sneakers and most of the other girls wear black converse with white soles.
Tumblr media
Guess who got pulled up for their shoes on that same fateful Tuesday? Me.
In my email, I asked for clarification on what can and cannot be worn because there seems to be a lot of confusion around it. And he stated “you should be wearing smart shoes. I’m happy with the definition outlined in the employee handbook.”
And this is wear the demons of hell start laughing with me: Because I combed back through my emails from August 2020 to find this employee handbook.
And it says nothing about shoe colour. Nothing about style. Just that we have to keep them in good order (they can’t be falling apart) and have to meet workplace health and safety guidelines (be enclosed).
So I sent him an email
Tumblr media
And he had no choice but to accept it. Because he committed himself to the wrong definition in his previous email.
It was such a delicious fucking moment. And in the grand scheme of things; Do my shoes matter? No. Did I beat him? Yes,

Chapter 13: Wheelbarrow
Number of regulations violated: 5
Unfortunately, the recent safe streak has ended almost the moment out protagonist stepped onto a boat. While the now expected description of whaling as a dangerous business brings concerns to mind, this pales in comparison to the fact that the boom of the ship begins swinging wildly, knocking a passenger overboard and putting employees at risk. While my closest personal experience is riding a small sailboat, and so I struggle to determine how exactly this risk could be effectively and entirely prevented, I have identified a number of regulations that appear inconsistent with conditions described.
That's all for now, and
Stay safe sailors!
OSH Act of 1970 Sec. 5. Duties
The workplace and employment should be free of hazards that are known to cause serious physical harm or death
Whaling is described as ‘perilous’. That is not a workplace free of hazards.
1910.22 Walking-working surfaces
All walking-working surfaces must be maintained free of hazards, and any hazard must be immediately corrected, or else employees should be prevented from using this surface.
The boom of the ship is swinging uncontrollably and dangerously, despite this being a surface used by many employees.
1917.95 Other protective measures
Anyone who has a reasonable chance of being knocked into the water while working should be given a PFD and instructed to wear it, and life rings should also be present, depending on the size of the boat. The PFD must also be approved by the US Coast Guard and maintained in good condition
The small boat is rocking dramatically, and later someone is easily knocked overboard by the boom of the ship. As the only description we get of anyone’s outfit is Queequeg being shirtless, it is reasonable to assume that no one has a PFD and there are no life rings to be used, despite someone being knocked overboard. I am considering this regulation to account for personal protective equipment as it is more specific than the regulation for general industry.
1917.112 Guarding of edges
If there is a risk of falling more than 4 feet, there must be a guardrail or safety net in good condition
Again, someone has fallen overboard and there is no railing or other measure in place to prevent this. While a similar regulation for fall protection also exists under general industry guidelines, the regulation in the maritime section is somewhat more relevant, and including both would be redundant
1917.151 Machine guarding
Rotating parts that are 7 feet or less above working surfaces must be guarded to prevent them from hitting an employee. This can include railings, covers or by preventing employees from walking in the path of the hazard
While I have no idea if and how this could be practically achieved, there is a large swinging and rotating piece of the boat that is moving around many employees out of control, and measures must be taken to prevent it from coming into contact with an employee.

how caesar zeppeli loves (as told by tarot)
tags: gn!reader, tarot, headcanons
a/n: oh caesar
deck: prisma visions
Tumblr media
ace of chalices, queen of pentacles, nine of pentacles, the emperor
you’ll never doubt if caesar anthonio zeppeli loves you. the sweet nothings may fall easily from his lips but he proves his love for you with his every action. he may be a flirt by nature, but he is very loyal once in a committed relationship and he doesn’t want you to doubt that.
a romantic at heart, caesar goes above and beyond with the gestures of affection. having a star named after you, surprising you by having flowers delivered at your workplace, they are definitely actions one can expect if caesar is your lover. but the last thing he wants is to make you uncomfortable; should you voice displeasure by certain actions he’ll make sure that his displays of affection fall under the guidelines of what you consider acceptable.
a true lover takes into account his partner’s feelings, at least that is how caesar feels as one more traditional when it comes to romance. he wants to spoil you and wants you to feel secure in the relationship you have together. that your relationship won’t end simply because he spots another pretty face. but beyond that he values your safety most of all. he has a mission he is dedicated to and he doesn’t want you caught up in the mess of it even if he knows you are more than capable of protecting yourself.
just remind him you can carry the burdens you both bear together and be strong as one.

"...The planned HICPAC revisions would water down infection control protections, particularly for aerosol transmission and multidrug-resistant organisms.
Most immediately worrisome is its conclusion that plain surgical masks (aka “baggy blues”) are equivalent to N95s and provide adequate protection to healthcare workers and patients. There is abundant evidence to the contrary. This from the CDC:
[Graphic showing that N95s lower odds of getting covid]
It is clear that N95s offer far better protection against aerosols, such as from Covid-19 and other inhaled pathogens.
More than 900 experts in infectious disease, public health, industrial hygiene, aerosol science and ventilation engineering signed a letter to Mandy Cohen, M.D., the new CDC director, explaining how the new draft guidelines weaken protections for healthcare workers. They state, “Surgical masks cannot be recommended to protect health care personnel against inhalation of infectious aerosols.”
The experts’ letter was coauthored by Lisa Brosseau, Jane Thomason and Peg Seminario, among others. Seminario was the director of occupational safety and health for the AFL-CIO from 1990 to 2019.
The CDC responded to Seminario and the experts’ letter only now, a month later, and just before the scheduled Aug 22 meeting. The agency offered no substantive or specific rebuttal, but spoke of its dedication to “improving healthcare quality” and commitment to “to transparency, communication, and stakeholder engagement.” It also claimed that the CDC is meeting the guidelines for transparency required by the Federal Advisory Committees Act. The letter is not yet publicly available.
HICPAC’s proposals also fail to include ventilation, UV disinfection and HEPA filtration, all essential tools against an airborne pathogen.
There are many concerns regarding HICPAC’s process, as well.
Meetings did not include experts in aerosol transmission, ventilation, occupational health and worker protections, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (part of the Department of Labor), National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (part of CDC which researches worker health and safety) or representatives of healthcare workers.
Lisa Brosseau, an expert on respiratory protection from infections at the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy and a retired professor, expressed outrage at HICPAC’s process: “Why are they not consulting with all the people and all the stakeholders? They are not, and that's a sort of basic expectation of a federal advisory committee.”
Brosseau was equally critical of the committee’s literature review, saying that it was “cherrypicked” and “the most ridiculous literature review I've ever seen.” She concluded, “I think they were hoping nobody would notice” how the review was manipulated.
While HICPAC suddenly (Aug 15–a week before its scheduled meeting) invited public participation, it has not provided meeting notes, minutes, transcripts or a draft policy beyond its bullet point slides.
Thomason said HICPAC is “weakening existing guidance for infection control and not following the science that has been built over the last several decades about aerosol transmission.” She added that, in their goal of providing more flexibility, “They said to employers, ‘Here are the minimal standards, and you guys figure out what you need and want to do.’” They are proposing minimal crisis standards of care.
Brosseau added, “Being in health and safety, I know where that goes. It means you get nothing, workers get nothing, no protections. You don’t leave it to the employer to make decisions about workplace hazards.”"

It seems odd to me that the perishables person that's running the grinder would be pulled to a register. Ever. That's not their job.
Though it does have the big red flag of "other duties as assigned".
This is the first full time job listing to pop up at literally any of the grocery stores in my area but it's also not one I want to do. One of the things I hate the most about cooking is handling meat.
If there's an opening in their cheese dept. though....
Actually, I don't think they have a cheese department. The other grocery does, but got rid of most of the staff and started stocking only pre-packed cheeses mid-pandemic.

i think there is a real issue with the way dead drivers are treated by fans. the moment a driver dies while racing they become deified by the motorsport community in this kind of like, parasocial way. any wrongs, nuances or details about their life, achievement or actions are washed away by this, like, paintbrush of grief, which doesn't allow for criticism (of the person as an athlete or as a person) and broadly classes it as disrespectful.
with senna especially, its massively complicated. he was a great driver and massive presence in the sport. most people agree he was a surprisingly gentle guy out of the car. had he never died, he would also be despised by a majority portion of the community, because of his relationship with a teenage girl while he was an adult.
those are the kinds of things that get pushed down or discouraged from discussion when it comes to drivers who died while racing, because of that aforementioned weird deification. and its unfortunate because it betrays the genuine character of a person for a idealized figurehead free of nuance, that at best acts as a disservice to the real person who passed and at worst obfuscates the real harm they may have caused, as people who had a lot of money, a lot of social power and very little oversight to their behaviour.
i say this as someone who has had to cope with their favourite driver in a series dying in a motorsport accident. i believe tributes, dedications and the sharing of memories to be incredibly important for continuing the memory of those who died in what is, frankly, their line of work (no employee should be at risk of dying in their workplace. none), to continue conversations about what the real loss of lax or underdeveloped safety guidelines and practises are. but i also think that criticism can and should be practised in public spaces about those who've died and that it isn't disrespectful to talk realistically about what a person was really like.
(holy shit laura sorry for the essay in ur inbox)
Yeah no dw liv I agree and I think tbh this is just like. A wider issue in society as well like it happens with Any public figure who dies (politicians exempt in most cases) that their life becomes smoothed over and simplified like this. It's part of this cultural thing of "don't speak ill of the dead" but taken to an extreme because of the parasocial elements + Literally Not Knowing These Guys, and like a lot of cultural things about death it's ultimately more harmful than whatever it's trying to soften.
Like I've seen this happening to Michael too, and he's not even dead. It's been hard for me to navigate my own immediate "Michael is perfect and did nothing wrong" attitude and balance that with making sure people still see him as a person who DID do bad things. I've always resisted saying "michael would think X or Y about something" because like. I don't Know what Michael would say and I do not want to speak for him bc he is in fact a person who is thinking things Right Now. That's its own Thing because like, obviously that's also to do with agency and ableism and the resistance to it, but it feels relevant here.
Sport becoming folklore definitely makes this like. More pronounced in F1 fandom I think.
