Handsome Siblings (2020) HC’s
I am fully aware that I am late to the party, but I have lots of thoughts on how Xiaoyu’er’s and Wuque’s brothership would develop post-finale so here we are.
Bickering
With Wuque's upbringing in the refined Yihua palace, it is to be expected that he would be far more academically knowledgeable than Xiaoyu'er. Specially considering that the drama does throw in the occasional joke of Xiaoyu'er misquoting this or that proverb. I just think it would be kinda funny if at some point both are having a verbal spat over something ultimately trivial and Wuque, realising he probably won't be able to outwit Xiaoyu'er, simply switches to cultured speech to mess with him.
Go matches
The first time Xiaoyu'er loses to Wuque in a Go match, he is incredibly dramatic about it. He eventually accepts it, but not before putting on a Shakespearean drama performance.
Reputation
By the end of the drama, although he has made amends with both Murong Jiu and Zhang Jing, the rest of the world still knows Xiaoyu as the Most Evil Person Alive, so seeing him travel alongside the illustrous gentleman Hua Wuque must be quite a sight... at some point some unfortunate soul is bound to make a comment on Xiaoyu'er's villainy while they are traveling together. At which point Xiaoyu plays it off likes its nothing with his wits, but Wuque gives the clueless offender the Wide-Eyed Look Of Reprimanding Outrage™. Xiaoyu'er is a smug little gremlin about it.
Friendships
Xiaoyu'er would definitely pick up on Wuque's loneliness eventually, and push him to make more friends at any chance he gets: shared meals with fellow travelers, festivals.
The woes of high literature
Imagine at some point they are solving a mystery. As it is expected, Xiaoyu'er is mostly in the lead, as being the clever one is kind of his thing. So when finally everything is starting to click together there is only one clue that has yet to fit... and for whatever reason it is a piece of hyper complicately written literature. So in the middle of his Eureka moment, Xiaoyu'er has to turn to Wuque for help because "I can't read pretentious".
Attempted tutoring
Following the previous incident, Wuque attempts to tutor Xiaoyu'er. Thanks to the latters shenanigans, they end up doing anything but actually studying. At least they had fun...

I didn't really like Handsome Siblings but what I like about handsome siblings is that genre aspect where every single character is so, soooo dumb that xiaoyu'er, by virtue of having about 0.75 brain cells, is hailed as a genius and fucks around going OH THE CLEVERNESS OF ME until su ying, an actual intelligent person, shows up and blows him out of the water. and then his flabber is so gasted that when she's like "hi I'm too weak to throw a single punch. I have kept you in this cell for several weeks. I use human beings as plant fertilizer. I poisoned your twin. my dad is an actual rat who is trying to kill us all. you want me and we're in love" all he can do is go Yes And

Anyone else watching "Handsome Siblings"?
I feel like the brothers can be described as Lawful Neutral (Hua WuQue) and Chaotic Hungry (Jiang XiaoYu'er).

Ep 21
Oh my god if Hua Wuque is any thicker, you could use him as a sparring block.
Xiaoyu'er got all the family brains, Hua Wuque got the looks.

My thoughts on Handsome Siblings SO FAR
MUCH better than the 2005 version, but not as good as the 1988 TVB version
Tony Leung played Xiaoyu’er in the 1988 version so there’s no topping that ever

...he had a mullet

I will take your offering for a fic, could I please have a Handsome Siblings fic with the twins maybe a moment in time years later in their life. Thank you :D
So I have slightly altered the prompt - it’s been months not years. I can always do a second for you if you like this one!!! And I’m sorry it’s taken so long to get round to, I have been in a weird place and words just didn’t work. Hope this is enjoyable!!!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the first weeks it was hard enough to adjust to his new name. He was no longer Hua Wuque of Yihua Palace, but Jiang Wuque of his own destiny. The loss of his identity hurt at first, a strange sting that never seemed to ease even with Tie Xinlan at his side. She comforted him as he mourned his aunts and helped him adjust to the new name day by day.
After parting, he didn't see Xiaoyu'er for a few months. Instead he received letters - long and rambling missives detailing his brother's exploits across the country. He read each one with a  smile on his face and always looked forward eagerly to the next. It was like reading some long and exciting novel, never knowing what the next chapter would hold but knowing the hero would come out on the other side with a cocky grin and some clever scheme.
When he did see his brother again (and the joy of thinking that, of knowing he had a twin who was as much a part of himself as he was, lit his heart with a bright flame that wouldn’t die) it was almost too exciting for him to handle. He had spent the night before tossing and turning in his rented bed. Tie Xinlan had tried to soothe him, had rubbed his shoulders and poured them both tea when he paced. But he had been excited - he wanted to see his brother again, to hear his exuberant laugh and listen to his latest adventure in person.
At the inn, when the sun had risen and breakfast had finished, he sat waiting. An hour passed. Another, and Jiang Wuque started to feel anxious. Had Xiaoyu’er forgotten him? Impossible.
There was a “welcome” from the door and a burst of air, the sudden rush of movement and a joyous cry. Jiang Wuque stood and turned, braced himself as his brother lept through the air and barreled into him just as he had all those months ago.
“Brother!” He shouted, his grin wide and bright. Jiang Xiaoyu gripped his arms and held onto him, hugging him and laughing as he gave his brother a once over. “You look- you look different, actually. What’re you wearing? It’s so dark!”
He had dressed in something as far from the white and pale blue of Yihua Palance - it looked remarkably like Xiaoyu’er’s clothes, actually. The coincidence didn’t surprise either of them. He wore a dark grey ensemble with red accents, a mustard yellow sash around his middle, the old jade pendant tucked away in a chest with his other belongings.
Xiaoyu’er smiled softly at him and patted his arms, putting a little space between them. “You look good. Healthy.”
Jiang Wuque couldn’t help but smile back, pink touching his cheeks at the compliment. “You look the same. No new scars, I hope?”
His brother scoffed and threw himself into a chair, feet landing on the table, the epitome of a carefree man. “Not this time. Maybe next time though, hm? I was thinking about going back to Villain’s Valley to see what the lay of the land is next;” he paused, fiddling with his sleeve and glancing at the table almost nervously. “I had actually thought, maybe, you might want to come with me?”
“You want me… to come with you?” He asked quietly, taking a seat with his brother. He waited for the bravado to come back, for Xiaoyu’er to laugh it off and say it was just an idea, that he was fine to go off on his own and actually preferred it that way. “I would like nothing more,” he said instead of waiting any longer.
A look of genuine shock crossed his handsome face and Jiang Wuque heard one of the girls on another table sigh dramatically. It made him smile and he saw Xiaoyu’er grin too, though he at least attempted to hide it with his hand.
“I’m glad you said yes. Su Ying said I should at least try asking, even if you’d said no.”
They lapsed into a gentle quiet after ordering some food and drink and Jiang Wuque couldn’t help but laugh as his brother expressively discussed the best attributes of each dish. He ate ravenously, a bit from every plate, recommending some to Wuque and actively placing food into his bowl when he didn’t act fast enough.
“We’ve got a long journey ahead! You need your strength; now eat up before I decide to eat it for you.”
He had missed his brother. Knowing he was out in the world had been enough for a while, but he was glad they had been able to meet in person. As he packed his things for their journey, he found himself excited to be a part of the stories Xiaoyu’er would write in letters to Su Ying. He was a part of something new, something wonderful and it made his heart warm.

I grew up watching movies and dramas of the "WuXia (武俠)" genre back in Hong Kong. I did some character design of one of my favorite WuXia story, "The Peerless Heroes (絕代雙嬌)". Here are the turnarounds of the two main character, Hua Wuque (花無缺) and XiaoYu'er (小魚兒). For people who watch WuXia films too, which WuXia story is ur favorite? . . .

Looks like this is a movie? It seems to take place before Xiaoyu'er had left his home. I can't wait to watch it! I'd love to see a new story since I already know Legendary Twins from other TV series.

So, Legendary Siblings (the classic novel that the drama Handsome Siblings is based on) is fully translated, and the whole thing can be read on spcnet. It's written by Gu Long, one of the three great classic wuxia novelists (the other two are Jin Yong and Liang Yusheng) and it's a MUST READ if you're into wuxia. Maybe it feels kind of dated by current standards, but he's so much more readable than Jin Yong and more committed to happy endings.
