✧ Yandere Legend ✧
"You could have died!"
"Legend, it's just a bruise from a Bokoblin. It isn't the end of the world."
"Don't start giving me that sass. I'm taking you to see Hyrule right now. You could've gotten a concussion, or worse. You could have internal bleeding!"
"Fine. I'll go see Hyrule if you stop worrying so much."
"You're my entire world. I would die for you."
"What?"
"What? I said you're just a loser. I wouldn't die for you."
"Sorry, the Bokoblin must have hit me over the head harder than I thought."
"See? I was right. Next time let me go with you. We can't lose our best archer."
"I'm technically your only archer."
"That still makes you the best one we have."
"Well, thank you. I am pretty good at this."
"Just do one more thing for me before we get you healed by Hyrule, okay?"
"Hmm? Yeah, what is it?"
"J-Just wear this ring for me. It's enchanted, so you'll be safe."
It'll mean we're married. None of the others will even be able to get close to you. You didn't need to know that. It's only a temporary thing. I'll get you a better and more protective one when we start dating. I can't scare you off quite yet.

Far More Than Just A Mask
I'd like to thank @cloudninetonine for giving me the confidence to come out of the shadows and start posting the fics I write. I haven't really posted anything before, so I'm still figuring out how to use the Tumblr posting format. I'd also like to shout out @yanderelinkeduniverse @neverchecking @gliphyartfan @luimagines @yourlocaltreesimp and @wayfayrr as I was also inspired by their writings and content in general. To whoever stumbles across my fic and enjoys it, please go give these amazing people some love! With that being said, I'd also like to express my gratitude towards @linkeduniverse for their amazing work as their comics are what this fic is based off of. I hope everyone enjoys!
TW: Yandere themes, blood, possession, creeps be creepy
Your entrance into this journey filled with world hopping and a band of men all dubbed strange and woefully bad nicknames was… interesting. Thankfully enough, it wasn’t a truck send off level of isekai but it wasn’t the go to sleep and then wake up somewhere else type either. No, it was deciding to venture out at night for a rather dumb reason, immediately get lost, stumble across a strange portal, proceed to be chased into said portal by a pure black shadow with red eyes, and then stumble around in a forest you very much didn’t recognize. And then, of course, you stumbled across them.
They had dubbed their group The Chain since they were all Link (based on the expressions made when you were informed of this, it was clear who did and didn’t like the idea). After the initial shock based, you were suddenly bombarded with questions about… everything, really. The sheer amount of attention, combined with knowing a lot more than you should (in their eyes but they didn’t need to know that to the full extent), caused you to freeze. Well, internally freeze. As cooly as you could, you tried to answer the many questions thrown your way as truthfully as you deemed necessary.
“What’s your Hyrule like?”
“I don’t have one.”
“You don’t have one? What does that mean? Are you before Hyrule exists or did your Link… fail?” “I just don’t have one. It… never existed. A lot of what exists for you doesn’t for me- not outside of fairy tales, that is. Magic, fairies, multiple civilizations of different species, and more.”
“Why are your ears clipped? Is it a sort of fashion statement or a punishment?”
“Neither. I’m not Hylian, I’m human. Humans are similar to Hylians but we don’t have pointed ears and are usually a little taller than the average Hylian.”
“Why are your clothes so… weird…”
“They’re not weird to me. You guys certainly are, though.”
And the questions continued. After days of asking questions, which quickly broke past barriers and dug deeper than you were comfortable with, The Chain relented a little. It was clear as day that they didn’t trust you, not a bit, but they still “added” you to their little entourage. Dark Link, or Dink as they called him, had still pushed you through that portal like it did for the rest of them. Meaning, somehow, that you were fated to be a part of the Chain even though you were very far from being a Link. In truth, you knew probably half of them believed you might be colluding with the entity and were simply keeping tabs on you. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer, as they say.
Thankfully, you weren’t a complete dead weight. You didn’t mind doing chores since you surely couldn’t battle. Despite some of your “exotic” looks (largely your ears, they’re still getting over that), merchants and townsfolk seemed to open up a bit easier to you. Plus, a lot of creatures from the mundane to mystical quite liked you for whatever reason. Were you not in the Champion’s Hyrule, that may not have stuck out as much as it did. On top of that, you knew first-aid better than most of them did. You were no genius in medicine, but you knew enough about the human body (thank you Forensic Files). You also had the “remedies” your Nana often chose over medicine- a lot less helpful in your world, but far more useful in nearly any Hyrule given the more mystical nature of, well, everything.
It took nearly two weeks for the mock friendliness to turn genuine and nearly a month and a half for everyone (including Legend, though he’ll deny it even if he were six feet under) to have a bit of trust in you. It wasn’t like the bonds they had with each other nor the ones you had with your friends back home, but it was something and that something showed. That fact certainly helped you sleep a bit easier during the night.
So now, here you sit around a campfire with the Chain after yet another day of traveling. Despite sitting in a circle, everyone was still a little grouped up and remained chatting in that group. Hyrule, Wild, and Wind were all conversing with each other in semi-hushed tones which made you believe some level of tomfoolery was sure to happen in the coming days. Sky, Four, and Wars were simply chatting about random things. Legend and Twilight were off on patrolling duty at the moment which was a bit of a balm for you given just how… prickly the Vet was in regards towards you at times (you knew it was mostly show, but that didn’t stop it from being aggravating). All of this left Time and you sitting beside each other in silence as one surveyed the camp and its occupants with a well-trained eye and the other lightly zoned out.
Although semi-zoned out, you weren’t entirely oblivious to the world. Your eyes drifted around and loosely observed the scenery although it was regarded as little more than static to your brain. By chance, your eyes drifted downwards and caught eye of a trinket that often sat on the hip of Time- a mask. Not just any mask, though. You hadn’t played Majora’s Mask before but you saw snippets of it and knew what the Fierce Deity mask was. You noticed from day one that Time- rather foreign in your eyes given the design you were used to- partly had the mask’s markings on his face. You had many guesses as to why that was, but you didn’t ask any.
“No- you can’t try it on,” Time speaks up as he quickly notices your stare at the mask. It jolts you a little as you didn’t realize just how long you had been staring at the aforementioned trinket.
“Oh? I wasn’t going to ask to but… well, now I’m curious as to why you don’t want me to. Is it special to you? I’ve never seen anyone else touch it before,” you ask as you stare at the mask in partly feigned curiosity, avoiding Time’s stare. Faking ignorance had grown to be second nature by now.
“Because everyone else knows that it’s good to stay away from it lest you risk tragedy. It’s a magical mask but the power it holds is… potent. Rather, who it holds,” Time cryptically answers with a small grin. It brings a little grin to your face as well that the mask wasn’t too sore a subject for the Old Man, but it was best to tread the waters lightly.
“Who it holds? There’s… a person in there?” You ask.
“Not just a person- a god. It’s called the Fierce Deity Mask as it holds a god of war within it. Put on the mask, and you become something of a vessel for him to use. Naturally, doing so is dangerous- extremely so- so don’t expect to be seeing it in use any time soon,” Time answers with a lit of strictness at the end.
“Can I… at least touch it? Or hold it?” You push, curious about many things in relation to the mask. What did a magical mask feel like in your hands? Could you feel the power of Fierce Deity wanting to be released? Could you maybe even hear him? Would your heart begin to pump loudly, as if trying to sync with a war drum? Time can practically hear your unasked questions, it seems, as he detaches the mask from his belt and hands it to you.
It’s weighty in your hands. Not heavy, but weighty. Its texture is smooth and makes it feel a little bit more like fine pottery than wood. Despite that, you knew you wouldn’t be able to break it by accidentally or purposefully dropping it (could it ever be broken? What would happen if it was?). Despite the chill in the air, the mask was warm. Something that could easily be attributed to being nearly sandwiched between your’s and Time’s body, but you felt like that wasn’t the case. Aside from that, the mask was almost… underwhelming. “What? Expecting something grand to happen?” Time lets out a short and breathy chuckle at the puzzled expression that must be on your face at the moment. “Yeah… I guess so,” You mumble, still holding the mask and looking at it in the eyes- or rather eye sockets. Randomly, you hold the mask up and away from you as if it were someone face to face with you.
“Hello, Fierce Deity, I’m (Name). A… pleasure to meet you? At least, somewhat…”
A beat of silence. And then another. And then another. And th-
“BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! D-Did you seriously just introduce yourself to a mask?!”
Your face burned crimson at Wind’s howling laughter and remark. Many others shared his laughter, including Time himself. Naturally, you looked straight down at your lap and didn’t even resist having Time take the mask back. So caught up in your embarrassing action, you and everyone missed the slight vibration the mask gave off. The second Time put the mask back on his hip was the moment you decided you’d turn in for the night.
Of course, your luck was little and fickle so some of the boys decided to poke at you further come the next day. While you settled beside a stream to wash clothes, it didn’t take long before Hyrule hopped over with a little grin as he propped up the Fierce Deity mask beside you. He made a little comment about how you appeared lonely before practically running off. Unsure of whether to snap at Hyrule or almost pity the god within the mask, you simply chose to go about your chores. You had a gut feeling that a few of the Links were likely lingering close by, so you did your best to stay tight lipped beside the mask. Which was hard since chore time (especially when it allocated some space between you and the boys) was also welcomed alone time. More often than not did you talk to yourself. Safe to say that having such time and space intruded upon left you a little… pent up for the rest of the day.
When the next laundry day came by, the same stunt was pulled (by Wild this time) but you couldn’t keep your silence. Camp was located a little further from the stream than it was at the previous site, so you felt a little more secure.
“I’m sorry,” you mumbled out as you began to wash the pile of clothes beside you. By now, you’ve long grown used to the awful smell of them and you were thankful that, despite having a sculpted nose, the mask didn’t have nostrils. After a few moments of silence, you continued. “I, uhm… I’m sorry for the way that they’re treating you. Perhaps seeing the way I interacted with you that night caused them to grow a little too comfortable around you. I just ask that you forgive or at least tolerate the behavior- it’s an outlet for a handful of them. I know you’ve been with Time for awhile, so I know that you know full well the stress and trauma these boys have. It may seem like little to you given your rank as a deity, but I’m sure you’ve grown to understand mortals a bit better after hanging off the hip of one for years.”
After that, it felt like a dam had broken. Anytime you were off doing your chores, the Fierce Deity mask was there beside you. To the Chain it was a recurring joke that turned into a slight routine (something Legend hated since having something so powerful be near you was always something he despised). To you, it was finally a chance to talk- to vent without being judged. Well, you’re sure that Fierce Deity was judging you but you couldn’t hear him. Honestly, there were parts of your life that you likely sooner shared with the mask than you did with anyone else. It’s not like he can spill your secrets, anyway.
You wondered what he must have thought of you. An annoyance? A break? An interesting or perhaps strange mortal? Or did he just not care at all? Was he curious about your ramblings that described your passions, your home, your world or was it merely buzzing in his ears? You didn’t know and likely never would. At least, so you thought.
And it all started with a simple, and seemingly logical, decision from Time.
“I’m sorry- what? You’re wanting the Outsider to have the mask with them? Time, what the fuck?! We’re your sword brothers and we’ve hardly been allowed to touch the damn thing but now it gets to hang off of that witch’s hip?! What happens if we need to use it? Or what happens if they use it? We’re all screwed!” Legend practically screams as Time tells the Chain of his decision. You want to stand tall and face Legend, but you knew that his comment wasn’t entirely based off of his prickly personality (despite what may come out of his mouth). No, all of the boys were likely fretting over you having the mask given what it did to its wearer. If it could take down even a Hero of Courage, then what could it do to you?
“Enough!” Time snorted as he stared down the pink haired man. “The mask is not some secret weapon, let alone a toy (Wild, Wind, and Hyrule flinch), to be used at your leisure. That’s something this ‘outsider’ realizes better than seemingly all of you. As such, I’m entrusting it into their care to make sure it’s not abused. It is only for the worst case scenarios, do I make myself clear?”
“But the past few monster hordes have gotten stronger! I understand that (Name) acts as a field medic to the best of their ability but they stay away from battle when they can. It’ll be inconvenient and risky to let it be away from us for multiple reasons. What if a battle goes south fast and we can’t get to it in time? What if something tries to steal it from them? What if they have no choice but to use it and potentially lets Fierce Deity go on a rampage? I can guarantee that it’d hurt them,” Wars argues with a much more put together and logical rebuttal than Legend. That still doesn’t save you from the ever present glare the Vet has aimed at you and the mask.
“I’ve thought of all of this but I still believe this for the best. Besides, the hordes feel stronger because we’ve been dealing with smaller and weaker hordes for over a month now. Dink has been trying to soften us up a little and I can see that it’s worked based on our combined performance in the last battle,” Time huffs and deepens his scowl. He gives the Chain a thorough stare down before speaking again. “Anyone else want to pipe up?”
The only thing that spoke for about the next ten seconds was the breeze. After that short but tense “talk” was over with, the Chain was back on the move. Safe to say you were distracted as you and the boys traveled, though not by the gazes you felt on your person and on the mask. Rather… it was due to the mask itself. During the argument, it had been on your waist the entire time. With everyone focusing on whoever was taking their turn arguing with Time, they were all blind to the way the mask was reacting. Due to your close proximity to the mask for some time now, you knew full well that Fierce Deity could hear and see what happened around him from his wooden prison. He couldn’t speak, but he could make the mask buzz. He did it seldom, but seldom was not the word you would use for moments ago. Given how a lot of the boys still regarded him as an object, it must have pissed him off. Or, maybe, he was also a little pissed at how his new carrier was being treated. It was likely the former but you at least hope you’ve rubbed off on Fierce just a little bit by now.
‘On… put the mask on…’
Okay, maybe you’ve rubbed off on him a little… too much.
The freaky occurrences began to happen nearly a week after you were appointed as Fierce Deity’s new carrier. You didn’t notice the whispers at first as they were quiet and usually spoken while the boys were speaking. You also didn’t notice how the mask would move just a little bit whenever you set it down. Naturally, you couldn’t ignore it for forever- not as the mask only grew more active in regards to your ignorance.
The calls from the mask were getting closer by the day. It’s whisper- his whisper, grew louder for every night that passed. His voice was low and rumbling like a distant thunder, like an approaching storm. You’d put the mask on the other side of your tent (much to the displeasure of whoever you were sharing the tent with at the time) but it’d still end up only a foot or two away from you when morning came. Your once rather passive regard for the mask and the deity trapped within it was becoming… strained as the days went by. The boys noticed it, to the point you wondered if Time planned to take back the mask, but they (aside from a seething Legend) never commented on it. It should have come to the surprise of no one that the rising tension would eventually snap.
“You did pretty good out there today, Wind. I didn’t expect you to take out those three lizafols so quickly,” Wild complimented the young lad as he joined the group around the campfire.
“Ha, naturally! With my rate of improvement, I may even surpass the Old Man one day!” Wind puffed up his chest and grinned. The sight of his youthful happiness and high esteem caused the other men to either chuckle or feel a touch of nostalgia.
“Careful- we’ve seen what praise like that does to one of us,” Legend tsks as he side eyes Wars. The knight rolls his eyes but doesn’t clap back for once.
“It’s well deserved praise, Legend. Wind is truly improving- there’s no harm in letting him know,” Hyrule claims. The man opens his mouth to add more but is stopped when Twilight springs up from his spot and stands stiff as a board. The aura surrounding the rancher is tense as he eyes the tent farthest from the campfire.
“Uh, Twilight? What’s wr-”
“(Name)?” Twilight called out as he took a few steps towards the tent you were currently sleeping in. Due to his heightened senses, he could hear muffled grunts and whines of pain. Could you be having a nightmare? No, if it was a nightmare why did he feel so… worried? Scared, even? Based on the tense men around the campfire, they were starting to feel that as well.
Twilight walks, almost stalks, towards the tent. The wolf within was howling and snarling in the back of his mind, that something bad was happening. An almost shaky hand grabbed the fabric of the tent and… he stalled. Why? Why was he stalling? Why did it feel like he shouldn’t open the tent when he knew that he should? That he has to? That his friend- their friend- was in trouble? Why-
“Leave, Hero of Twilight. This is a private moment and you are not welcome.”
Twilight nearly flung the tent into the field.
A thrashing body was pulled from the tent and pinned down to the ground. Wild reached for the mask stuck to your face and tried to pry it away from you but it wouldn’t budge. While you weren’t transforming into the Fierce Deity, that didn’t mean you weren't under his influence at the moment. His voice had come out of your mouth, after all.
“Dammit! (Name)!” Time bellowed, kneeling beside the scene with an equal mix of anger and worry. Worry because he knows- Hylia does he know what that mask can do and angry at himself. He should have taken the mask back the second it started to show signs of attachment. He should have never let you have it- never let you even touch it.
Suddenly, you went limp. Grunts stopped on the tip of your tongue as you let out a drawn out breath. As if it wasn’t just stuck to your face like glue, Wild yanked off the mask with ease. Aside from some redness and even blood on the outline of your face due to the struggle, your face was largely unharmed. In fact, it looked eerily… peaceful.
Your arms slowly closed in and you hugged yourself. In gentle motions that appeared strange to the Chain- as if it wasn’t really you moving your appendages- you rubbed your arms. Your face settles into a more so neutral expression as you eyes flutter open for just a moment to reveal almost entirely white eyes.
“Shhh… you’re alright now, I told you that it would only hurt for a moment. Shhh…,” Fierce Deity gently spoke out of your mouth before your eyes returned to normal. With a tiny groan, your head lolled to the side as you blacked out.
Safe to say that it was absolute chaos when you woke back up.
Strained voices were arguing somewhere nearby and it didn’t help soothe your forming headache. With wobbly arms, you tried to push yourself up but failed as strength seemingly refused to return to you.
“(Name)? Thank the goddesses you’re awake!” Four pipped up in what sounded like absolute relief. Such relief was short lived as you watched Four get up and run off. You tried to sit up again in your sleeping bag but the weakness in your body persisted. Why? Why were you so weak? You went to bed early, dammit!
A baritone chuckle rings in your ears.
“I apologize for that, dear one. Your lack of strength is due to my actions last night.”
The voice was a shock to your system. You frantically looked around for its origin but couldn’t find it. Your confused actions caused the voice to nearly coo.
“Be not afraid, dear one. I am here, with you. That is why you can hear me.”
Light flooded the tent as what seemed to be a multitude of Links trying to force their way in. Time, thanks to his bulk and armor, was the one who managed to force himself to your side. His grip on your face was almost harsh as he looked over your face with a scrutinizing eye. His hardened scowl made your heart drop into your stomach. Buried fears of the Chain turning on you started to surface as nearly everyone gave you heated glares.
“What did he do? What did Fierce Deity do?” Time questioned as he still held your face, not letting go.
Fierce Deity- of course, how could you forget? Your panic that night as you rolled over and into an awaiting mask. The fear as he grabbed onto your mind despite his gentle tone.
“The mask… I… I rolled over and then it was on my face,” You answer meekly, unsure of what words to use because Time looked like he was about to blow a fuse. Anxious and a little frightened by the Old Man, you rambled on. “I swear that I put it on the other side of the tent! I promise I would never put on the mask like that! I-I… I… I’m going to ask you to unhand their face, Hero of Time. Scaring them will not grant you answers.”
Time let go of your face like it would burn him. A few of the boys behind him instinctively reached for their swords but paused. Even with the blank, white eyes staring back at them, this was still their friend’s face.
“What have you done? Why have you possessed (Name)? How?!” Wars interrogated Fierce Deity as he stared back at him.
“I have not truly possessed them. I merely created a bridge between our minds. It will not let me control them like this for much longer. I can only do so because it is still… fresh,” Fierce Deity explains, a ghost of a smile present in his voice.
“Really now? I don’t believe that for a second! Why else would you create this mental bridge if not to have them as a vessel?” Wild piped up as he tried to get close to his friend’s body. He failed to do so as Time practically shielded you from him.
“Personal reasons. I needn’t explain them to you, but I will assure you that I will not harm them. No, I would never force these innocent hands to slaughter. Not unless they were without choice,” Fierce Deity claims. As he speaks, he rubs your hands together as if enthralled with how gentle they felt compared to the calloused and aching hands he was used to guiding.
“And what, in your mind, is ‘without choice’?” Time pressed, grabbing your hands with a scowl.
“Conflict follows this group like a pack of starving wolves. There have been many times where death nearly sunk its teeth into their neck. Times I wish they would have donned the mask so that I could protect them and get them to safety. Unfortunately, they still believed in the half-truths you all told them were the full truth,” Fierce Deity rumbles as he stares down at Times grip with a less than pleased expression.
“I am not comfortable with what you’ve done to our friend. I don’t know if any of us may grow used to or comfortable with this, but… we also have no way to remove you from them. That does not mean we will not look or try. Don’t grow comfortable with this… this bond. It. Will. Not. Last,” Time threatens as he doesn’t bother to hide his disgust or displeasure. With a motion, he orders everyone else to leave. The Chain leaves the tent one by one, but not before speaking their mind. Once alone together again, Fierce Deity lets his hold slip. One or more of the heroes would come back, with more questions, and they would do so soon. So he would enjoy this little break while he had it.
“They are gone for now, dear one. No doubt they will return shortly, so let us enjoy this piece of quiet while we can.”
You lay on your side, feeling dizzy from Fierce Deity suddenly grabbing the reigns of your mind. Although he backed off once the Chain left the tent, his presence within was close. It was almost as if he was laying behind you, wanting to wrap his arms around you. Wanting to hold you close and only stopped by his lack of physical form.
“I am glad you do not have a heightened sense of smell. Their worry, rage, and envy- oh their envy- would have burned your nose. Ah, but… let us dwell on that no longer.”
Your hand was puppeteered to reach down to your side. Your were made to unclasp the mask from your belt and bring it up close to your face. Rather than putting it on, Fierce Deity touched his “face” against yours. Forehead to forehead, nose to nose, and almost mouth to mouth.
“Mmm… so soft, as always. If I had need for sleep as you do, then I would not rest unless this is the sight that’s before me. And even then, I may be too enchanted to close my eyes.”
Phantom hands rubbed at your arms, your back, and then your cheek. They weren’t real, but with Fierce’s control of your imagination, they were. And you prayed that is was his influence, and not your own heart, that found it comforting and warm. You wanted to push back and take control but, due to the “fresh” nature of your bond, you would likely be at the mercy of the god for days.
“Rest, dear one. Rest your mind and body, you must still recover from our bonding last night.”
Those phantom hands circled around you and you feel as though you’re caged in an embrace.
“I will deal with the heroes should they come to disturb you. Know that I will not let them part us- not unless they’re looking to stir my rage.”
A kiss. It wasn’t real- it wasn’t, but the rough lips upon your forehead tempted your heart to will that they were.
“And I promise that one day, we will not have to rely on this spiritual bond. No, I will make up for these ethereal affections tenfold when I find out how to return to the material plane. No matter how long it takes. Not that we must worry about that, after all. Our time together… will be eternal.”
---
The next few days were perhaps the most tense you’ve ever experienced. Fierce Deity was a constant presence in your head, even as the bond between the two of you settled. He wasn’t chatty, but just rather curious and inquisitive. When he wasn’t asking questions about you, he was observing. He seemed to derive an almost twisted form of happiness whenever he saw how on edge everyone was around you now . He assured it was out of jealousy of him, not fear or hatred towards you. Were it actually out of new found ill-will… no, you weren’t going to imagine what the god would have in store for them.
True to his word, his hold over your mind lessened the more the bond settled in. No longer would you feel phantom hands wrapping around your own or resting on your shoulder. No longer would it feel like a large body was laying behind your own every night you fell asleep. No longer would it be his voice on your tongue to shoo away the boys should they do wrong in the war god’s eyes. No longer did it feel like he was breathing down your neck every waking moment.
In an attempt to hinder the god’s mysterious motives, you were quickly relieved of the mask he was bound to. It was once again on Time’s hip- now covered and tied up in cloth. Honestly, you were surprised it wasn’t buried into the storage of Wild’s Sheika Slate to create even more distance. Even with what happened, it seemed that Time didn’t have it in him to simply discard the mask. Perhaps he hoped to keep the deity in check, like he had done before you accidentally stirred the entity into action.
And it would seem that that is exactly what Fierce planned on him doing.
It was supposed to be a quiet night. The area was secure, dinner was cooking in the pot, and everyone but Time was idling around the fire. Wind chatted with you about every and anything that came to mind which pushed your focus onto the young man. With your distance from the mask and not thinking about Fierce, you felt nothing from the bond. You felt calm for the first time in awhile and everyone seemed to feel the same.
“Any idea when the Old Man is gonna be back?” Wars asks aloud, looking for nearly anyone to answer him.
“Soon. Dinner’s almost done and he’s not one to miss it. At least when I’m cooking,” Wild hums. It was a simple answer to a simple question, so no one said anything else. Still, it unnerved you. Time sought to set an example, so potentially being late to dinner was unlike him. Curious, you probed on the bond connecting you to Fierce. Even if he’d huff at you checking up on another man before him, you knew you’d get an answer. You always got an answer.
“I’ll look for him,” You state as you get up and walk off in the direction of where you last saw Time. Your sudden decision startled the boys and your nervous, almost haunted, expression did nothing to soothe them.
“Then I’m going with you. I don’t want you to getting close to him,” Twilight announces as he catches up to you. His tone left you with no room for an argument but you weren’t going to.
Not when Fierce was being eerily quiet.
You and Twilight took careful steps through the forest as he tried to retrace Time’s path. You both would stop and listen to the ambient sounds of the forest whenever something sounded off. The constant stopping and going only ramped up your nerves further as it kept punctuating Fierce’s refusal to communicate.
“I’m sure we’ll get an explanation when we find him. If you ask me, he might just be getting some alone time. He always does seem to have a lot on his mind,” Twilight piped up as he led you through the woods. The man offered a small smile but the strain on his face wasn’t lost on you. “Any word from him?”
“No. Nothing. It’s like… like there’s no bond at all,” You reply. “Ever since the incident, it’s never been like that. If anything, Fierce always made an effort to feel ‘present’.”
“Maybe… he’s also taking a break?” Twilight suggested, trying to be the optimistic. You shoot him a look and that optimism is quick to falter. Twilight doesn’t give up and faces you with an uneasy smile. He gently places his hands on your shoulders and rubs them a little. You feel that it comforts him more than you. “C’mon, think about it. You’ve said that he’s not as violent as we believe him to be, so m-”
“Remove your hands from them, Hero of Twilight.”
The air is squeezed from your lungs as Twilight suddenly pulls you into a shielding embrace. His fur pelt partly blocks your vision, but you can make out an imposing silhouette between the trees. How did the both of you not notice him?
Fierce Deity was striking. He has to at least be seven feet tall and he was clad in armor similar to Time’s but it was a steely silver, not gold. The armor was lined with white fur with an abundance of it on his collar. Long, flowing locks of white swayed in the night time breeze. Fierce’s silver-gray eyes were framed by strong and downturned brows. His stare was… intense, to say the least. But your eyes weren’t on his. No, you were focused on finding out why there were splatters of blood on him.
“What did you do?!” Twilight growled. “Where’s Time? What did you do to him?!”
“I won’t ask again, Hero of Twilight. Release them,” Fierce commanded as he began to walk towards the both of you. Twilight only seemed to tighten his hold in response. This was going to end up being ugly unless you did something.
“Stop!” You exclaim as you try and fail to wrestle yourself out of Twilight’s hold. Both men head your order but the tense atmosphere doesn’t dissipate. You shoot Twilight a glare but the hero returns it as he shakes his head. True to his word from earlier, he wasn’t about to let you get close to the god of war.
A strangle cough breaks the silence as someone stumbles through the brush. Thanks to the golden armor, you knew exactly who it was.
“Oh god, Time!” You exclaim as the older man leans against a tree for support. His face is banged up and actively dripping blood. His armor was smeared with the red liquid as if he had been trying to wipe off the blood over and over again. Blood bubbled up from Time’s lips as he tried to gurgle out words. The pathetic sight was enough to shock Twilight into action as he let go of you and zipped towards the injured man.
“Ancestor! What happened?! What did he do to you?” Twilight questions as he supports the bloodied man. More gurgles and grunts leave the man’s mouth as he tries to answer the younger man’s questions. It’s clear to all present that Time is in no shape to answer questions despite the desperate need for it.
“Take him back to camp and have him healed up,” You order. The order earns you a stern shake of the head from both Twilight and Time, but you refused to budge. “Now, Twilight! I’ll be fine, I promise.”
“Go take care of him,” Fierce chimes in as he looks back to the two men. “No harm shall befall them. You have my word.”
With a tough choice to make, you can see the exact moment when a hero’s instinct takes over Twilight. He lifts up Time and barrels through the forest back to the camp. In the blink of any eye, you’re suddenly left alone with the very person who had to have harmed Time. You’re so out of your league in the current situation that you probably couldn’t even see the playing field on the horizon, but you weren’t about to back down.
“My dear-”
“What did you do to him?” You confront as you stand up as tall as you can. It’s nothing compared to the towering deity, but you weren’t about to let that stop you. Fierce seems amused by your actions. He leisurely walks towards you with his hands by his sides and a small smile on his face.
“Nothing too rash, my dear. Just a broken nose and some scraps to the face. Head wounds tend to bleed quite a lot, as you know,” Fierce answers vaguely.
“Why did you hurt him?” You continue to question as you start to back up. You wanted to keep distance between the both of you in case you had to turn heel and run. Not that’d you’d get very far, but you could only hope.
“I didn’t mean to hit him hard. He came at me and I punched him, simple as that,” Fierce assured as he continued his approach. “Surely, my dear, you believe me? You know I would not hurt another without reason.”
“The mask- how did you escape the mask?” You press as you do your best to keep your distance.
“That wooden prison was old and ready to crack. I never saught to free myself from its binds as there was little in this world that tempted me forward. Well, little until you came around. Ah, I still recall how gently you held me in your hands that night…” Fierce hummed as he closed in. It didn’t take long for him to corner you against a tree. Frozen against the trunk, you could no longer keep space between the two of you. Fierce leaned down and grabbed your hands with his own. He pressed them against his face and he stares straight into your eyes.
“Hello, (Name), I’m the one they call the Fierce Deity. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
Words evaded you, as did action. You didn’t pull away nor did you do anything else than having allowed Fierce guide your actions. The god chuckles at your frozen deer response as he moves his hands under your arms and lifts you up. You cringe as he holds you close and blood seeps into your clothes and the smell of iron assaults your nose. Fierce nuzzles against your cheek and buries his strong nose into your shoulder. In your shock, you can’t tell if he kisses your shoulder or if it’s just your imagination.
“YOU BASTARD!”
A growl reverberates through you as Fierce grits his teeth. His embrace tightens as he turns to face a small group of men. A near foaming at the mouth Legend leads the party of enraged me. Upon seeing you in the grasp of the deity, the rabid man refrains from attacking but it’s clear he’s waiting for his opening. A similarly enraged Sky, Four, and Wars follow behind him and a snarling Wolfie is quick to catch up with the group.
“Quell your tongue, Veteran. They’re already stressed enough,” Fierce huffs as he rubs a hand up and down your back.
“Then let them go! Can’t you see that you’re scaring them even further?” Sky argues as he adjusts his grip on the Master Sword. Unlike Legend, he’s not still on his feet as he begins to move in an attempt to flank Fierce. Wars and Wolfie catch onto his plan while Four stays steady beside Legend.
“They are shocked, Hero of the Sky. Their senses are overwhelmed at the moment from tonights events,” Fierce dismisses the claim. He takes his eyes of the men and looks at you. His voice his low and gentle when he addresses you. “Correct, my dear? You know I’d never want to harm or scare you.”
You shrink away from Fierce and refuse to look him in the eye. The actions draw out a sigh from the god but he doesn’t force a response out of you. Instead, you feel yourself sway with his body as he begins to move. There are shouts and orders from the other men to stay still but Fierce acts as if they were little more than the surrounding scenery.
“Let’s get you back to camp. You must be hungry after all of this excitement. Can you hold a spoon? I’ll feed you if you can’t,” Fierce murmurs to you as he walks. You nod in response and the god sighs again. “Come now, my dear, what has happened to that beautiful voice of yours? Do not tell me you’re so mad at me that you’d cut me off from such sweet melodies?”
“Why do you keep calling me that?”
Fierce slows to a stop. You can practically feel the puzzled expression radiating off of his face.
“My dear? What are you talking about?”
“Why are you calling me ‘my dear’?” You repeat as you pull away from Fierce’s shoulder. You can see his face scrunch up at your remark. You also see the men who confronted him following close behind.
“Because you are dear to me, (Name). You treated me fairly and sweetly, like I was a man- not a mask. You’ve told me more than what you’ve told anyone else. You always seemed happy to be near me for the longest time. Even after my brash actions that night, you still didn’t entirely recess into fear,” Fierce answers with a strong tone. “You may not realize it, but that is very important to me. You are very important to me and by the Golden Three do I intend on making that clear.”
Fierce resumes his large gait back to the camp. When he arrives, the reception is chilly. No one moves for their weapons but nor does anyone stay far away from them. Finally, Fierce sets you down onto the ground. You slump down to the soil below you as you take in deep breaths, unaware of how shallow your breathing had been before.
“Get a bowl of food ready- and don’t be skimpy,” Fierce orders as he stares down Wild. Wild grumbles something you can’t make out but he portions out a bowl for you. Fierce takes the portion from the cook before he can even leave the pot to give it to you. He settles himself by your side before shifting you into his lap. A spoon is brought up to your lips before you can argue. At the very least, Wild’s cooking never disappoints.
“Getting comfortable?” A rough voice breaks through the ambience of the night. A now healed but still beaten up Time stares down Fierce without a shred of fear. You immediately notice that he has both eyes open, and they’re both normal. Not to mention the fact that his face was now free from markings.
“Very,” Fierce curtly replies. He doesn’t bother to face Time as he’s focused on feeding you. The deity coos at you as your mouth is stuffed with food and your cheeks puff up as a result. The actions from the towering entity is… strange and off-putting to all present. The boys are stuck between glaring at the deity or cringing at his out of character actions. Fierce couldn't care less.
The evening passed by without much more incident. Everyone was jumpy and gave you and Fierce space despite the expressed distaste towards the new addition. There would be no knight in shining armor for you tonight, so you only hoped that Fierce would keep his word on treating you kindly.
Based on how he clung to you when it was time to go to bed, he seemed only further convinced he needed to assure you of that promise. He had shed his armor so you didn’t have to have metal pressing into you. He had also wrapped you up into a blanket burrito (something he made clear he learned from you and your ramblings) to limit the amount of skin on skin contact between you. He wasn’t blind to his intensity, so he was doing his best to restrain himself. You could only hope he’d keep up the will to do- for everyone’s sake.
“Sleep tight and sweet dreams, my dear,” Fierce whispered as he fiddled with the blanket covering you and stray strands of your hair. “I will be by your side the entire night, should you need me.”
“Okay…” You mumbled out as you wanted to do nothing more than hide away into your blanket. You closed your eyes but no amount of counting sheep would make falling asleep easy. Not with arms caging you to a man ever hungry for even your attention. Ever hungry for even a sliver of affection. By Hylia, what have you gotten yourself into.
“I love you, my dear,” Fierce mumbles as he believes you’re on the brink of falling asleep. “And remember… my love for your is eternal.”
And by the Goddesses, how do you get yourself out?
A wide and fanged smile cracks against the skin of your neck. A dark and hopefully playful chuckle leaves the god of war’s lips.
“You don’t.”

@yandereunsolved for the wild not talking thing. thank you
_-----------------------------------------
Twilight-
Your smell was intoxicating, it was all over the camp, you always hugged and gave everyone your affection but he wanted it, not to share it, he wanted you to himself.
The others didn't like you like that but he did, he wanted to be covered in him, as he wanted to be covered in you, that's why your on Epona now, taking you away from the chain just for a little while, he wanted his fill, he was crazy and he knew that.
He knew he was crazy for you, he had stayed up so many nights in his little tent they gave him, thinking about how you would be putty in his hands by the time he was done with you.
Goddess he loved you, he hated the fact of how you took care of them all, he just wanted you to take care of him, not them, they don't deserve it.
He could give you whatever you wanted back in Ordon, he knew you would love it, but your tears would hurt him, he wants you to love him, not take you away, just be willing for him, be with him, have little pups with him.
No one understood him as you did.
"Why are ya the only one who understands me?" twilight spoke softly to your sleeping body, pulling you up to him and giving you little kisses on your face and neck, they would look good with bite marks.
You were just so cute when you stirred in his grasp, so small compared to him, he needed to take you back before you awoke, you can't know this happened, no matter how much he wanted to fill you with his- he needs to calm down.
"calm down twilight you're gettin' ahead of yourself, don't let that beast out"
_--------------------------------------------
Wild-
It was getting ahead of himself
He knew this was wrong, he just wanted you
He slowly crawled to you, his eyes full of insanity, blood dripping from his hair
"God(dess) please don't be scared" he watched as you backed away from him, your eyes full of fear, he had never spoken before, he never did. Not until now.
"don't move away from me.." his voice was raspy, after years and years of not talking
"I killed those for you my god(dess)"
You could only stare at the bodies behind him, a group of travelers you didn't know, he said they were a sacrifice for you "Please don't leave me, they hurt you... they deserved it my god(dess)"
he grabbed your leg and dragged you down and below him
you looked wonderful below him
"You are so wonderful" he sits on your belly, cupping your cheeks, and kissed you, his grip is strong, and he pulls away and licks the tears off your face. "You're not leaving me"

"Was dad upset with you today?"
"..."
Colin…didn't really expect an answer, he already knew.
Had seen the frustrated look on his father's face.
And Link, he had simply stood there silently.
When he wasn't found in the village, Colin always found him by the Ordon spring.
Sometimes with Epona, mostly alone. Link just stared into the crystal clear waters, never once looking away.
Colin observes Link's quiet and solemn routine by the entrance of the spring. As he watches, Colin notices something unusual - Link has a jug that belongs to his father, one that Colin had been warned against sipping from. Colin continues to watch Link from a distance, observing the way he silently drinks from the jug and stares into the clear waters.
Just another oddity in the growing list connected to the rancher.
For many days, Link had been behaving utterly odd.
Looking at everyone strangely, almost panicked, as if he no longer understood how to interact with any of them.
Everyone had been whispering about it, yet no one could figure out what caused him to suddenly change so much out of the blue.
Yet despite his strangeness, he still helped Colin's mother Uli, still patrolled alongside Colin's father Rusl. Still dealt with the goats and cared for Epona.
But it was almost…like he was simply going through the actions.
His body was moving but his eyes were empty. Even when he gave everyone a smile, it was crooked, like he didn't even have the energy to smile properly.
Colin watches as Link takes another swig from the jug, his eyes never leaving the reflective surface of the water. The typically cheerful rancher seems distant, lost in thought. Colin has never seen Link like this before, and it honestly makes him uneasy.
Despite his anxiety, Colin decides to approach Link, wondering what could be going on in the older boy's mind.
The sound of the water splashing against the shore and the distant bleating of the goats fills the air. Link doesn't seem to notice Colin's presence, instead continuing to gaze absently into the water. Colin approaches him from the side and looks at the jug of mead in Link's hands.
"He and mom were talking about you." He said quietly, sitting next to him, "I think he knows you've been taking his jug. They are worried."
Link turns to look at Colin, his eyes still clouded and distant. "I see," he says, his voice quiet and soft. He takes a long drink from the jug. He sets it down beside him, his gaze returning to the water.
Colin watches as Link takes a deep breath, as if trying to gather his thoughts.
Colin, curious and worried about Link's distant behavior, gently asks, "Is there…something wrong, Link? You’ve been… different."
Link stays silent for what feels like an eternity to Colin, his gaze fixed on the water. Just as Colin is about to give up on getting an answer, "I'm just...tired, Colin." Link finally speaks up, his voice barely above a whisper, "Tired of...so much, tired of…losing…so much."
Link's words hang heavily in the air, the weight of his emotions palpable. Colin, still young and inexperienced, didn’t and couldn’t fully understand the depth of what Link is feeling. He looks up at Link, trying to process the words. "But you always win in the end, don't you?"
"This...isn't something I can win.."
Link's reply cuts through the air like a knife, his voice laced with a sadness that only those who have experienced great loss can truly understand. Colin looks up at Link, searching for some hint of the Link he has always known, the one who is brave, strong, and seeming to never falter when trouble was about.
Colin watched the person he saw as an older brother stare into the waters of the spring.
He looked so…lost…but it wasn't like he was searching for anything…
It was almost as if he had long given up when just some time ago he had been fine.
"Link…did you…lose something important?” Colin didn't really know why he said that. But it made sense, in a way.
He lost something, Colin didn't know what but it must have been so important that it made him like this.
Made him behave so strangely.
Link continues to stare into the water, his mind lost in thought. He seems far away, consumed by his own emotions. Colin's question hangs in the air, unanswered. Link's shoulders sag, as if the weight of the world is resting on them.
Finally, he speaks, his voice quiet and defeated.
"I don't know..."
Link's response only deepens the mystery surrounding his current state of mind. The warmth of the setting sun does little to dispel the chill that Colin now feels in the air.
 "I don't…know if I lost anything…anyone…" Link continues unprompted, "I…think I did…I think I lost some…one..so..so precious…"
Colin's heart tightens as he hears the pain in Link's voice. He gazes at his older brother, trying to find the right words to say. He opens his mouth, then closes it again, at a loss.
"But I don't know if I lost anyone…and that scares me…" Link took another drink from the jug, "I think..I'd be happier if I had lost someone.."
"Why?" Colin couldn't help but ask.
"…Because it means they had to have existed for me to lose…"
Link's words hang heavy in the air, as Colin looks at him with a mixture of confusion and concern. The kind Hyrulean boy that Colin had always known seemed to have been replaced by a hollow, lost shell of his former self.
Colin takes a deep breath, searching for the right words to say. He wants to offer Link some encouragement, some glimmer of hope to hold onto. But as he opens his mouth, the gnawing silence seems to swallow his words before they can even leave his lips.
Because no matter how much he wanted to help, Colin was just a kid. A kid that didn't really understand what Link was talking about.
It all confused Colin just as much as it worried him.
Colin sits next to Link in silence, his heart heavy with concern. He tries to offer an apology, hoping it might bring some comfort to his brother. "I'm sorry I can't help you, Link," Colin says softly, his voice laced with sadness.
Link doesn’t look away from the waters. "It's alright, Colin," he says, his voice quiet and devoid of emotion. "I don't think anyone can help me with this." He takes another drink from the jug.
That just made Colin feel worse.
Eventually Colin glances up at the sky and notices that it has started to darken. Reluctantly, he accepts that it's time for him to return home.
He takes one last look at Link, who still sits at the edge of the spring, lost in his thoughts, like the weight of the world was seemingly on his shoulders.
Colin sighed heavily, feeling a knot tighten in his stomach as he turned and began to make his way back to the village.
And Link...
...simply took another swing from the jug, the ache in his chest gnawing within him that he knew wouldn't be filled.
He had lost everything that had become so dear to him...
He didn’t know if he ever had it to begin with…
And all he wanted to do was simply forget, if it meant an end to the horrible pain.
——
——
It was familiar enough.
The Bublins charging into the spring.
The force that sent him collapsing into the spring waters beneath him.
Uli’s tears and Rusl’s grave face.
The forceful tug into the Twilight.
The agony of his wolf form wrapping around him…
The cell and cuff that bound him in place…
That laughter…that mischievous grin…
At one time, he had longed to hear and see this all again. Longed for the mischievous smile and arrogant words spoken at him. so much so that it was as if he needed it like air.
But…
…Funny how what he once wanted so badly was now the very last thing he ever wanted to see.
He didn’t know how to feel about it…

Link gasps, collapsing to his knees, his sword stabbing into the ground in order to keep him upright.
“Why do you continue to fail?”
Link shakes his head, grimacing.
“I…I don’t…mean to…I-“
“You must confront that which you seek to deny, else it damns you to further loss…now..” The point of a blade was aimed at the hero.
“Again.”
“…Yes sir…”

“You have a renewed burden."
He chose not to reply to the fortune teller.
At the urging of Midna, who's curiosity over talk of someone who could see into the future had garnered her interest, he had gone to visit Madame Fanadi.
Personally he'd have simply gone to the next location needing his attention.
He didn't want to be here, he already knew what he needed to do.
"You are lost, blindingly wandering through a world of memories long since past." She continued, "Eyes open, but unseeing as you stumble along your unpaved path."
Madame Fanadi's words hang heavy in the air, her piercing gaze never leaving the Hero of Twilight.
"Bound by chains forged from your own guilt and regret." She says, her voice taking on a somber tone.
Link's eyes are focusing on a point beyond Madame Fanadi. He can feel Midna's gaze on him from within his shadow, but he doesn't acknowledge it.
"Your burden wishes to trap you," she continues, "It would consume you whole, if you let it."
"…And why shouldn't I let it?" The words left his lips before he registered that he even said it.
Madame Fanadi's gaze does not falter, as if she had expected this reaction. "There is hope, even in your darkest memories," she says gently. "You have a chance to break free from your burden and find redemption."
He scoffs. "Redemption?"
He doesn't deserve it. None of them did.
Damned to relive these days. Damned to question whether he was truly reliving them or simply following a pattern that was laid before him. Worse still to realize that it was possibly all a figment of his mind.
(If they all truly exist... he hopes they are suffering like he was…)
If his Goddess truly existed or not...
He hoped she never forgave them.
None of them were worthy of it.
Twilight's hands curl into fists in his lap, knuckles turning white.
He wasn’t worthy of it.
"You wish to be consumed by the pain, seeing no point in continuing on," she says. "It's eating away at you, consuming you from the inside. Most curious for a young man like yourself to hold such regret."
Twilight's eyes, still fixed on a point beyond the fortune teller, narrow.
Madame Fanadi continues to watch him, calm, patient. As if for her, the passing of time meant nothing. "You are burdened by memories, young hero," she says softly. "Memories that haunt you, memories that bring you pain. Or rather, it is someone within those memories."
Twilight tensed, his fists squeezing tighter.
"You want to look away, to run from these thoughts, but you know that you can't escape them."
"That's enough..." He tells her, his voice low.
"Tell me young man, do you believe if you ignore these regrets, that somehow you'll be free of the consequences you suffer?"
"I won’t hear anymore..."
"Those who fought beside you, the trust you hold for them in your heart, it is strong and bright despite the darkness swirling within." Madame Fanadi continued, "If they stood before you, would they not be suffering such agony as well?"
She tapped her chin, an almost sorrowful smile on her face.
"After all, are you not all guilty of the same regret?"
"Stop it!" Twilight was looking directly into the woman's eyes, his own shining with anger and warning.
Madame Fanadi does not flinch under the provoked man's gaze, but rather, she holds it, her smile never wavering. "You are trying to hide away from the truth you created, young hero," she says. "But you can only hide so long before that truth finds you."
"I'm leaving." He stands, uncaring that his seat is knocked over.
Madame Fanadi's smile doesn't falter as he stood up, her eyes following him. "Remember, young hero, the truth has a way of finding us all." She says this softly, almost like a whisper. The room feels suddenly colder, it would excuse the trembling of his shoulders, and the candles flicker as if in response to her words.
He storms towards the exit, his footsteps echoing in the stillness of the room.
—-
He coughs, a dribble of spit escaping the corner of his mouth as he clutches his stomach.
“Had this been a true battle, you would have been cut down several strikes ago.”
“I-I’m so-“ a kick to his side sends him sprawling onto the ground once more.
“Don’t apologize. Improve.” Once more, the blade is pointed at him.
“Again.”
Link clenches his teeth, trembling with exertion as he reaches for his sword.
--
--
"What the hell was that Link?"
As he storms out of Fanadi's Palace, he hears Midna's voice calling out to him. She sounds concerned and a little frustrated, and Twilight knows that she wants him to explain what just happened.
He stays silent and continues to walk away from the building.
Midna, not used to being ignored, pesters him as he makes his way through and out the city.
Link stops in his tracks when they are a good distance away, looking down at Midna, who had appeared in front of him, with a mixture of annoyance and detachment.
"I didn't like what she was saying," he says, his gaze flickering away from Midna's.
Midna crosses her arms, her expression skeptical.
"Are you still worried over those kids?" She asks, sighing as if she figured out his problem already.
"They are safe in that village, that shaman seems to have a good head on his shoulders." She said.
Link's eyes narrow at Midna, shaking his head.
He wasn't going to bother correcting her assumptions.
What he suffers through happened long after she was gone.
...in his memories anyway.
"..I won't let things get in the way of what we're doing." He says quietly, looking away from her.
Midna frowned, eyeing him for a moment before returning to his shadow without another word.
Though he was not stupid to think that was the end of this conversation.
The wind rustles through the trees, carrying the scent of blooming flowers and the sound of chirping birds. The sky is a clear blue, with only a few wispy clouds visible. It's a peaceful scene, but Link's mind is anything but.
He closed his eyes, hoping the ambiance of the area would pull him into its peaceful embrace.
It was a fruitless effort of course, but it was better than suffering the ache in his chest.
—-
—-
“Again.”
“I’m TRYING!” He growls, grunting as he tiredly raises his blade to block the strike aimed toward him.
“Success must come after attempting, yet you seem to linger at the ‘attempting’ stage of learning.” A twist of a wrist and the rancher’s sword is knocked from his hand and clatters to the ground several feet away from him.
“Again.”
Link can only bite back the snarl that tried to escape him, his hands in tight fists as he steps towards his fallen blade.
 --
 --
Link kept a smile on his face when he arrived in Kakariko Village, keeping the troubles that plagued him from seeping through as Talo greeted him excitedly.
Beth was still with Colin and Malo had his store.
Humoring Talo's rambling as he walked though the village, he soon waved him off when he approached the inn.
Entering the room,  Link can see that Colin is resting peacefully. Beth is sitting in a chair next to him, her head resting on the armrest as she dozes off.
The warmth and quietness of the room wrap around the Hero. Beth doesn't stir from her sleep, and Colin looks peaceful, his chest rising and falling rhythmically. The silence almost tricks him into relaxing into it's embrace, but his thoughts keep invading, making it difficult to truly relax. He takes a seat next to Beth, watching Colin closely.
Truthfully he had no interest in being here.
But he had no interest in speaking to Midna either.
It was either here or back in town, and the rancher wanted to be as far away from that fortune teller as possible.
Link carefully lays a spare blanket over Beth, tucking it around her shoulders to keep her warm. He then turns his attention back to Colin, not really looking at him, merely giving his eyes a point to focus on.
The silence in the inn is only broken by the soft snoring of Beth and the rhythmic breathing of Colin. Link's constant attempts to find solace in the peaceful atmosphere are in vain, as his thoughts keep drifting back to Midna and the unspoken tension between them.
He can feel her eyes on him, even from within his shadow, and he knows she's waiting for him to address the elephant in the room.
This version of her may not have known him as well as previously, but she had a keen eye when she so chose.
But he refused to speak to her about it.
He didn't even want to think about any of it.
As Link sits in the quiet inn, it's as if he's viewing the world through a foggy glass, unable to truly connect with it.
He...didn't want to be here.
He takes a slow deep breath, in through his nose and out through his mouth.
He doesn't want to do any of this again. (Didn’t want to contemplate if he was doing it all over again.)
All he wants is to wake up back at camp, to hear Wild (his mentee, his cub) humming as he finishes breakfast. To hear the others (pack, trusted) slowly awaken at the smell of fresh food.
To hear Her voice, rough with sleep, greet them good morning,
To be able to reach out and cup her cheek, to feel the joy as She sleepily nuzzles against it, trusting that he would never harm her. Seeing Her almost fall back to sleep before he softly calls Her name to keep her awake.
Link's thoughts are consumed by longing for a past that seemed to never truly have happened, for the companionship he once considered so important. He closes his eyes, trying to imagine himself back at camp with his friends.  He can almost hear everyone's chatter as they prepare for the day, the smell of Wild's cooking.
He can almost feel the warmth of the morning sun on his face, hear the sound of the birds chirping in the trees. He remembers the way Her sleepy laughter would fill the air as she conversed with the others. He remembers the feeling of camaraderie, of belonging to something bigger than himself.
He remembers his pack and he misses them all so very much.
His sword brothers...he longed to stand before them once again.
To be able to walk up to them...reach out his arms...
( And strangle the utter life out of each one of them for daring to damn him to this horrible curs- )
He tenses when he hears Beth mumble something in her sleep, relaxing when she didn't saying anything else.
He focused on some deep slow breath. He could hear his blood rushing in his ears.
He wants to lash out in some way, but he knows he can't let himself get carried away by his anger. He takes a few more deep breaths, trying to clear his mind.
As he opens his eyes, he notices Beth stirring in her sleep again. He watches her for a moment, listening to her soft breathing. He can't help but feel a twinge of envy towards her.
Link's gaze remains fixed on Beth, studying her peaceful expression as she sleeps. He can't help but think about how carefree and untroubled she looks, free from the burdens and responsibilities that weigh on his own shoulders. The envy he feels turns into a pang of sadness, and his heart feels heavy in his chest.
'Was it so wrong to want to stand by her side?' He mouthed silently to himself.
He doesn't want what he remembers to be a dream. He didn't want to think that the love he gained for such an incredible person to have been all for nothing.
He just wants to go back to his pack, back to Her.
(Even if his pack would damn him to suffer this cruelt-)
He ran both his hands through hair, letting one drop while the other kept a grip on his head.
He didn't want to do any of this! He didn't want to do this! Again or not! He simply wanted this journey far away from his present. To become a long done memory already.
Was he cursed to relive this path over and over?
Would a chance at life beyond the hero title be a failed dream?
He just wanted someone to tell him...
'..Is there an ending to all this?' He whispered to himself, it felt like it echoed in the silence of the room.
"...just kill me..."
Link's voice is barely above a whisper, his shoulders slumped in defeat. The Shade's sword remains at his neck, the weight of it a reminder of his mortality. The ghostly swordsman studies Link.
"Please…I rather die believing in the illusion my mind showed me, than live long enough to find it was all a lie."
The Shade's gaze lingers on Link for a moment longer, then he slowly withdraws his sword, sheathing it with a soft hiss. "I will not grant you such a release," he says into the silence.
"The strength of your heart…has disappointed me."
Link stays silent, not meeting the Shade's gaze yet feeling the weight of it.
He feels empty…
He feels defeated.
When Midna finally manages to confront him, it's as sudden and as ferocious as he always expected her to be.
Link could feel the air escape his lungs as the Twili's versatile orange hair slammed him against the dungeon floor.
"You're not avoiding this any longer you goat-wrangling mutt!" She hissed, Twili magic crackling around her. "You better tell me what's been going on with you or I'll make you."
Midna's eyes glow with a fierce determination as she pins Link against the floor. Her hair holding him in place. Link struggles to breathe, caught off guard by Midna's sudden attack. He can feel the heat of her anger and the intensity of her gaze.
"I've tried to give you space," Midna said, hands clenched.
"But you've been avoiding even talking to me, and I won't stand for it any longer. You will tell me what's been going on with you, or I will force it out of you."
The air is thick with tension as Link struggles to break free from Midna's grasp.
"One hell of a time to corner me like this." He grunts, not bothering to struggle. He knew no amount of struggling to free him from her grasp.
"I thought you wanted me to keep moving?" He asks, trying to buy some time to gather his thoughts. Midna's sudden aggression, had taken him by surprise, and he's still reeling from his own inner turmoil.
Midna's grip on Link tightens, and her eyes narrow. "I did," she says, her voice low and dangerous. "But you've been doing a rather good job keeping me from asking you anything, and I can't stand it any longer."
"Well maybe just keep out of my personal business and you'll spare yourself the frustration." He glares at her, but Midna's gaze doesn't waver. Instead, her eyes seem to bore into him, searching for the truth. Link feels a shiver run down his spine as he realizes that she won't let go.
"What is wrong with you?" He growls at her, "I have done everything you wanted since you freed me from that cell. Is asking for some privacy in regards to my own life that difficult for you to accept?"
"Not when it ends with you lashing out!" She snaps back, her grip on him tightening even more. Link winces as she presses down on him for a moment.
"You nearly attacked that one drunk guy in castle town!"
"He wouldn't leave me alone." Was all he said.
"All he said was That he'd feel sorry for whatever girl decides to fall for a, oh what was it he said? 'Grumpy country bumpkin.'? Something about how that girl would just have her heart broken."
"Wouldn't be the first time I've been called that." He answered, though the people who called him that were trusted friends.
"Oh? So you decided to nearly yank his arm from his shoulder socket because he just wouldn't stop talking?"
He didn't care if that stupid drunk rambled on like he had.
But to say whoever gave their heart to him would suffer heartbreak...
(Was he that terrible of choice for a life partner? A husband? A mate? Is that why he hurt-)
"Nothing he said was worth focusing on."
"And those knights! You snarled at them when they made a stupid joke! SNARLED!" She exclaimed, throwing her hands up when she saw his stubborn expression. "You looked like the very wolf you can change into. They ran without a second go waste!”
"The knights of Castle town are worthless and cowardly." He growled, a hand coming up to grab part of her hair. "They don’t dare approach me if I was in my beast form, it genuinely makes me wonder how they’d handle an actual war?"
Midna's eyes narrowed even further. "You can't go around attacking people. You're supposed to be a hero aren't you? Not some brute."
"Oh?" He asks, a faux look of curiosity on his face. "Would me being a brute go against your goals?"
"Now you're going after me?" She scoffs, crossing her arms and legs as she stares down at him.
"You were always strange since we met, but ever since you spoke to that fortune teller, you've been completely out of line."
"Simply because you're making assumptions about my situation-"
"Because you never talk to me!"
"Well maybe it's because I don't WANT to talk to you! Have you ever thought of THAT?" He spat at her, struggling for the first time since being pinned to the floor.
"You-"
"I've done EVERYTHING you wanted me to do! EVERYTHING. I have not made a SINGLE complaint since you saved me from the cell! Not one! I think I have been a rather good 'servant' don't you think?"
He clenched his hands into tight fists.
"But it seems no matter what I do. I'm NEVER good enough for you. For ANYONE." He shakes his head, his face twisting in pain.
"Was what I've done so bad that I have to be cursed like this? To be forced to live through it all over again? To question what’s true or fabricated in my mind?!?”
"Link-"
"I didn't mean to!" He shouts, his voice cracking.
"I-I...I just.." Wanted to be by Her side…
That's all he wanted. He wanted to be with Her. Hold Her. Kiss Her.
To be granted the honor of being called Her partner, perhaps even Her everything.
Wanted to never let her out of his sight again. To take her somewhere far away and start a life with just the two of them.
"What do I have to do to fix this?" He whispers, his head bowed.
'Link, focus-"
"WHO DO I HAVE TO KILL IN ORDER TO WAKE UO FROM THIS DAMNED NIGHTMARE!!" He roars at her. Midna actually rears back at the unhinged look overtaking his face.
“Hey! Watch it!”
Link's words hang heavy in the air, and Midna watches as he struggles against her grip, his eyes blazing with...something..
"Let go of me," He growls, his voice barely above a whisper. "I mean it Midna. Let. Go."
Midna stays silent, hesitation flickering in her eye.
Something was wrong. This was not how she expected this to go.
She watches as he struggles against her grip, his eyes blazing with an intensity that makes her want to keep him pinned down until whatever was happening was over.
"Link, focus," Midna tries to interject, but he talks over her.
"Let go of me..."
"Link, I-" she starts, but he cuts her off.
"I said let go," he repeats.
"Damnit, you’re not ok!" She says, refusing to let him go.
She didn't know WHAT he would do if she did.
"Let go of me Midna..."
"What'll happen if I do?"
"Let me GO.." He brings his head up and lets the back of it hit the floor beneath him.
Midna watches as Link's head hits the floor, wincing at the sound of impact.
“Heheh…” He begins to laugh, it was not pleasant to hear, “Do I have to wake myself up? Is that how I'll return? Am I too stubborn to wake up?”
That look in his eyes. He's not in his right mind. She tightens her hold on him.
"Link. You're not thinking straight. You need to calm down." She says firmly, trying to reason with him.
He brings his head up, only to hit it against the floor again, harder.
“I need to wake up…they’re waiting for me…”
The sound of Link's head hitting the floor echoes through the wide space, and Midna can't help but feel a sense of alarm. She tightens her grip on him, trying to keep him still and prevent him from hurting himself any further.
"Link, stop it!" She commands, her voice firm and authoritative.
"I need to wake up..." His voice sounds fragile, trembling as he brings his head up as best as he could and to slam it back down against the floor. “She’s unprotected…we have to protect Her…”
(He couldn’t lose her again. He simply couldn’t.)
Midna watches in horror as Link continues to bang his head against the floor, each impact causing the sound of his head hitting the hard surface to almost echo in the open space. The scent of blood making it's appearance.
"I need to wake up.." he repeats, desperate, as if he were on the verge of tears.
His mind overwhelmed by everything he'd be desperately pushing away since he awoke back in Ordon.
He couldn't take it anymore. He wanted to return to his pack. He wanted to return to (y/n).
He wanted this all to be a horrible dream.
Midna, completely out of her depth, lifts Link away from the floor, the back of his head leaving a splatter of blood on the rough surface.
She slams him back down, causing the air to escape his lungs.
"I'm sorry Link," she says, not giving him a chance to register what's happening as she releases him and turns her hair into a fist. "But you need to calm down!"
Link has just a moment to register what she said as her fist collides with the side of his face.
….
Midna breathes a sigh of relief as Link's body goes slack, her makeshift fist leaving a rather large red mark on his cheek.
..What the hell…
She knows that she had to do something to stop him from hurting himself, but that didn't help the twinge of guilt after hitting him. She floats down close to him, brushing his bangs out of his eyes after a few moments, checking to make sure that he's still breathing.
The dungeon is dimly lit, with faint light from outside barely illuminating the cold, stone walls. The air is thick with dust and the smell of dampness, and the noticeable sound was the distant drip of water. Link's unconscious form lies sprawled on the cold, wet, hard ground, his breathing slow and steady. Midna hovers over him, her expression a mix of concern and guilt.
"..What made you go crazy like this?" She mutters, unsure what to do.
What a situation she landed herself in.
Stuck in a damp dungeon with an unconscious frenzied hero.
...
(Maybe she should have chosen a better spot to talk to him.)
“This sucks..”
"Again.”
"What do you WANT?" Link shouts at him, his chest heaving from the exertion.
A single red glowing eye looks at him. "Your resolve has weakened to an absurd degree," he says. "You limit yourself to the boundaries that others have placed on you."
He stares up at him, panting and covered in sweat. " I have done no such thing." He protested. "I am doing everything I can."
The Shade shakes his head. "You are holding yourself back."
"No I'm not!"
"Still such a child. Denying a truth that is always dogging your footsteps."
"You aren't even HERE!" He screams, having finally reached his limit with the shade.
The shade said nothing.
"This is all some fucked up dream! The real you doesn’t even recognize me!! You think I wouldn’t figure this out? That I wouldn’t be able to see through this whole thing?!? What's the point, what’s the fucking purpose of my mind placing the illusion of you before me?!? To mock me?? To constantly remind me of something that possibly didn’t happen?"
"I may be an illusion...but your guilt isn't."
"This is ridiculous," He sits up, his teeth bared at the spirit. "I’ve denied nothing!"
"You are troubled. It clouds your heart."
"Sorry to disappoint you, but you aren't the first to point that out."
The Hero's Shade stood a few feet from him, sword held away as he watched Link.
The Shade's gaze is intense, scrutinizing Link as he rises to a sitting position. The air around him feels heavy, almost suffocating, as if the weight of his troubles is a physical entity. Link can't help but feel a little vulnerable under the Shade's gaze, the numbness that has become all too familiar to him serving as a constant reminder of his burden.
"I won't let it get in the way of learning what you teach me." The rancher replies in a monotone manner.
“Each time you appear before me, your resolve weakens further." The Shade says, his voice deeper, rougher than the rancher remembered.
Then again, he spent a considerable amount of time with his more...'livelier’ self...so the young hero supposed things would have changed during the decades after.
(Though...the Shade should have recognized him...shouldn't he? Yet he didn’t… Did that mean that everything truly was-)
Link shook away those thoughts.
"Though that does not distract me from your current failure to focus." He steps closer to Link, slowly walking around him.
"You’re weaker than you should be, yet still so disappointing. I’m surprised you have not been struck down by a Bublin yet due to your carelessness." Link grit his teeth, that was not a question.
"I am...as strong as you need me to be.."
"As I need you to be? So…you would allow another to determine your overall strength? You would cease to grow simply because another held your leash and brought you to heel?"
Link glared up at him, but of course, the Shade was entirely unfazed.
The Hero's Shade continues to circle around Link, his intense gaze never leaving the young hero. The weight of his gaze is almost unbearable, and Link can feel himself reflexively shrinking under the pressure.
When he stands in front of Link once again, he points his sword at him.
"Raise your sword." Was all he said to him.
The Shade's sword gleams in the light of this realm. Link tightens his grip on his own weapon, meeting his gaze. He lifts his sword as he stands, feeling the weight of the situation pressing down on him.
The Shade begins to circle him once more, this time Link matching his movements.
"Now, attack." He commands. The young hero takes a deep breath and lunges forward, sword swinging through the air.
The Hero's Shade watches intently as Link attacks, it takes not even a few moves before Link is tossed to the ground.
"Again," he says, his voice stern. Link obliges, rising up and lunging and swinging his sword once more.
This time, the Shade raises his own weapon to block, the clash of metal on metal echoing in the air. "Again," he repeats as Link is once more knocked down.
Once more he rises, only to be defeated again. The Shade remains unmoved.
Link's movements become more sloppy with each loss.  Frustration taking over more and more, but the Shade remains relentless, silently commanding him to raise his sword each time.
Link loathes the sound of his sword constantly clattering to the ground. An indication of his constant failure.
An indication that he was weak.
…weak…
No…
Nononono..
He couldn't afford to be weak.
No. Never.
Not when being weak means losing what matters.
Not when it means he could lose- he couldn't lose everything else!
He already lost his pack! Every one of them! He can't-
He reacted before he really registered the noise, rearing his head back in surprise, dodging the sword swipe.
"What are you doing?!?”
"You are rejecting the truth and it’s hindering you." The Shade says, his voice echoing ominously. "I wonder, how many will you abandon…as you run away?"
"I have never abandoned anyone!" He exclaims as he dodges swipe after swipe.
"Foolish enough to release your sword in front of an opponent. Foolish enough to deny the truths that dig themselves into your very being. Foolish enough to be led on by others like some obedient beast."
"What point is there to gain strength when I've lost everything already?!?"
The Hero's Shade does not pause his attacks, but does look at Link with a contemplative expression. "Strength is not just for protecting others," he says. "It is also for protecting yourself. So that you do not continue to lose what matters to you."
"But I've already lost everything that I wanted to protect!" Link dives under a swing and rolls behind the Spirit, reaching out to grab his sword.
But before he could get close, he stills, the cold touch of the Shade's sword pressed against his neck.
"And it is your fault.”
The declaration was firm, weighted, Link could feel the sharp chill of the blade against his skin.
The Shade's voice is low and accusatory.
He should argued his point, said something to get his predecessor to stop.
But the young hero just couldn't take it anymore.
"It wasn't my fault!!" Link screams, his voice echoing through the training grounds. Tears well up in his eyes as he pushes the blade away with his hand, uncaring of the sharp pain it brought, his body trembling with emotion.
"I didn't mean for any of it to happen!" he repeats, his voice desperate, almost pleading. "I just wanted to keep her safe! I just wanted her to stay with us!" With me.
"You would lay the fault of your sins on your desire to protect? When you would endanger the one you sought to protect?"
"None of us would ever hurt her." He hisses at spirit, "Not even death would be enough of a punishment suffered for such a crime."
How many had he willingly killed for daring to threaten her safety?
Those disgusting creatures that took the forms of man. Daring to gaze upon her beauty and attempt to stake a claim.
A claim. As if she were an item to be bought.
Not even as he made them choke on their blood, as he wrapped his hands around their bruised necks, did the rage boiling through his veins calm.
"You believe that you have done what was necessary to protect her," he says, his voice softer now. "But have you considered the cost? "
Link's eyes flash with anger and defiance. "Yes," he growls. "A thousand times, yes."
The lives he's taken, the pain he caused upon those unworthy fools- it was all worth it to keep her safe.
The Shade's gaze pierces through Link, as if trying to read his very soul. "You believe that the ends justify the means," he says, his voice filled with a strange tone of somber wisdom. "But have you considered that the means themselves may taint the end?"
Link's heart races, but he stands his ground. "I have done what I had to do," he insists. "I would do it again if it meant keeping her safe."
Keep her away from those who would harm.
Keep her nice and safe. With them. With him.
"Even if it meant being the cause of Her tears?"
"...I.."
Link's mind reels as the Hero's Shade challenges him with his question. The thought of (y/n)'s tears, caused by his own hand, is almost too much to bear.
"I-I never…would never want to hurt her," he stammers, his voice filled with trembling in growing panic and despair.
The Hero's Shade studies Link intently, seeing the pain and fear in the young hero's eyes. "You say you would never wish to harm her," he says . "But sometimes, actions have consequences that cannot be foreseen.”
Link's heart races.
"You, and those who stood beside you. You all are the reason she was lost."
Link's shaking his head, The Shade's words cut deep, and Link struggles to maintain his composure. He takes a deep breath, trying to steady his racing heart. "I don't believe that," he says, his voice barely above a whisper. "I won't believe that."
"Still you deny the truth.." The Hero's Shade continues, shaking his head, "You grew arrogant, drunk on the delusion that you knew what was best for her. Convinced your strength was enough to fight back the world. But in doing so, you overlooked the consequences of your actions. You caused her pain, and ultimately, you lost her."
Link's heart feels heavy, each word the Shade speaks weighing down on him.
The Hero's Shade's words hang heavy in the air, and Link can't help but feel the weight of their truth. He thinks back to the moments leading up to (y/n)'s disappearance, trying to pinpoint the exact moment where he may have gone wrong.
His mind races as he replayed the memories, his heart aching with every image of (y/n)'s strained smiles. The exhaustion that settled around her.
Had he truly been so blind..?
"No..." he whispers, "No..I didn't...I didn't mean to.."
"It is not my place to judge you, that duty goes to the one you harmed," he says, "I only aim to teach. To help you understand the weight of your actions. Perhaps that is the reason that your mind created my image before you.”
Link looks up, meeting the Shade's gaze. He wants to argue, to defend himself, but he can't bring himself to speak.
Link feels a lump form in his throat. He looks away, unable to meet the Shade's penetrating gaze any longer. The Shade's tone had been calm and measured, devoid of any emotion, yet his words are like a dagger to Link's heart.
"The arrogance and narrow-mindedness of you and yours had blinded you all to the true needs and desires of (y/n). It was not your place to dictate her choices, but to support her regardless of what path she follows."
Link says nothing, tears falling down his cheeks.
“No matter how far you run, you could never escape the truth. Because you refuse to forget.”
His tears fall to the ground, his eyes clenched shut.
"...Cub.." He tensed, hearing the nickname only his mentor called him.
Link slowly looked up, tears still falling. His breath caught in his throat as he looked into a familiar face.
Once decayed and ghostly, his mentor now stood before him in all his familiar glory. His face immediately brings a wave of memories crashing down on him. Of brotherhood.
Of trust.
"...T..ime..?" The Hero of Time stared down at him, looking as alive as in his memories.
"Rise and grow strong Cub." He said, an aura of calm surrounding him, holding out Twilight's sword. “Rebuild your shattered resolve.”
"Become a Sword worthy of serving our Goddess..."
Twilight reaches out, taking his sword from his outstretched hand.
As he wraps his trembling hand around the hilt, as he did, he felt a surge of energy pulsing through him.
The last thing he saw before his vision became white, was his mentor watching him calmly.

.
.
.
The side of his face hurt as his senses returned to him.
Opening his eyes, he immediately shuts them with a hiss from the brightness hitting them.
"Hmph, finally awake are we?"
As he slowly opens his eyes again, shielding them from the light, he sees Midna, her impish face looking at him with a mix of masked concern, annoyance, and weariness.
"Took you long enough," she huffs, "Here I thought I was gonna have to finish my business all on my lonesome before you chose to wake up."
He finds himself lying on his back, the ground beneath him feeling hard and unfamiliar. His head throbs with a dull pain, and he instinctively reaches up to touch the side of his face, wincing at the tenderness.
As he touches his face, his fingers probe a tender area around his temple. It feels swollen and bruised. He sits up slowly, trying to ignore the spinning sensation that threatens to overwhelm him. Midna's face comes into focus as he blinks against the, to him, harsh light.
"What happened?" He ask once his head settled a bit. His voice hoarse.
Midna's impish features twist into a bitter smirk.
"What happened?” Midna repeats his question, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Well, let's see. You lost conscious, curtesy of me thank you, after your little breakdown earlier." She pauses, letting her words sink in. "I had to drag your sorry butt all the way to this pretty spot."
He look around, trying to get his bearings.
The torchlight flickers off the stone walls, creating an eerie atmosphere. As Link take in his surroundings, Midna's voice breaks the silence.
"Seriously, what was that back there?" Midna asks. "You scared the crap out of me, you know?"
Link turns to face Midna, his expression conflicted. "I'm sorry," he finally says, his voice still hoarse. "I…don't know what came over me."
"I'll say, you went crazy!"
Midna crosses her arms, her smirk faltering slightly as she studies Link. "You really don't remember?" she asks, her tone softer but no less annoyed now. "You were ranting and raving about some girl and waking up... it was so sudden."
Link furrows his brow, trying to recall what happened before he lost consciousness, all he remembred was this sense of everything becoming...too much.
 Link sighs, rubbing his forehead.
To think he'd breakdown like that.
He really had been running from it all.
"You were mumbling something about 'her' not being real, and 'waking up'." She crossed her arms, "Do those words mean anything to you?"
He tenses, Midna could tell he was trying to come up with something to say.
“Safe to say, they mean something to you.” She huffs.
Link stays silent for a few moments, deep in thought. The dim light of the torches illuminates his face, highlighting the conflict and anxiety etched into his features. He then shakes his head, letting out a sigh.
"...I made a mistake," he admits slowly, his voice still hoarse. "It...hurt someone very precious to me."
"Oh?" Midna floated closer to him, "What'd you do so bad that it made you like THAT?"
Link opened his mouth but closed it a moment after, looking away.
The room grows quiet once more, save for the crackling of the torches. Link's eyes lower to the ground, reflecting the guilt and regret he feels. Midna, sensing his discomfort, waits patiently for him to continue. After a few moments, Link finally speaks up, still looking away.
"I hurt her," he admits, his voice barely above a whisper. "We all did..."
"..'We'?"
He shakes his head, his mouth in a firm line.
Midna's eyes narrow, trying to make sense of Link's words. She cocks her head to the side, studying him carefully. "Alright, so you hurt someone you care about. But who's 'we'?"
Link's grip tightens around his phantom sword, his jaw setting. He doesn't look at Midna, instead focusing on a distant point on the floor. "It's not important right now."
Link's response only serves to pique Midna's curiosity further. She can tell that he's holding something back, but she doesn't want to push him too hard and risk shutting him down entirely.
Or worse, go crazy again.
Instead, she decides to change tactics.
"Fine, keep your secrets," she says with a shrug.
There was a moment of silence.
“. . .So did you mean to do it?”
“…H-Huh?” Midna tsk’d.
“Did you. mean to. hurt your friend?” Link took a moment to register what she asked.
“No…no I would never…” he whispered, the Twili could see his already pale skin turn a few shades whiter.
“Well that response at least means you got part 1 down of mending things right.” She rolled her eyes at his look.
“Let me tell you something, Link. You're not the only one who's made mistakes."
Midna's words hang heavy in the air, breaking the tense silence that had settled over the room. Link continues to gaze at the floor, lost in thought. The torchlight flickers across his face, casting deep shadows that seem to reflect the turmoil in his heart.
"I know," he says softly, his voice filled with pain. "But this was different. For me. For us all. The results-She-we…we didn't..."
Midna sighs,  she can tell that he's not ready to open up about it. After another few moments of silence, Midna breaks the tension again.
"Alright, I get it. You don't want to talk about it right now." She straightened up and put her hand on her hip as she floats closer to him. "But you clearly don't have the means or time to even try to fix whatever it is that's happening with you."
He looked at her with tired eyes, and she frowned.
"If it were me, who hurt someone I cared about..." she tapped her chin, "and I had no choice BUT to hold off on making amends...I'd at least take the time and accept that I did something wrong."
Link sent her a questioning looking and she huffed at him.
"Well how many times have you heard someone apologize but never bothered to understand what they did wrong? Apologizing is great but it means squat if you didn't bother to figure out WHY you're in the dog house...pun intended."
Midna's words seem to strike a chord with Link, who looks up at her with a slightly more alert expression. She can see the gears turning in his head as he considers her words. After a few moments, he nods slowly, remaining silent as he absorbs what she said.
"Great, you finally realize a fact about yourself, “ she raises her hands up and shakes them in a Ta-da motion, “Congratulations, you’re a flawed creature.”
He blinks slowly at her, making her sigh again.
“So, if you're not gonna have a meltdown any time soon, let's get this place over with." She says, clapping her hands once and floating over to his sword and shield.
He remained seated, eyes following her before shortly getting up.
The rest of the dungeon was rather quiet compared to what he remembered, words only spoken when absolutely necessary.
. . . He didn't know how to feel about it.
The shade did not appear in his dreams anymore.
A part of him felt relieved…to no longer be stared down by a visage of his mentor…
Another part of him mourned the only other person who knew everything he hid.
Even if that person was simply a construct that his mind created…
…(perhaps it was for the best…)
He knew he should have at least announce his departure, instead of leaving a vague note on the entrance to his home.
Link knew he would worry Colin and his family. Knew Rusl would ask around for him, only for frustration to build when no one would know where Link was.
But he simply couldn’t take it anymore
Everything was too much and too little.
There was no journey to distract him anymore, no danger for him to defeat.
No princess of Twilight to yank his attention away from his thoughts from the moment she spoke.
What did it say about who he had become? That staring down at the corpse of Ganon, the very person who caused so much damage to the land, made Link feel nothing but disappointment.
Midna was gone now. He hadn’t realized how much he had depended on her presence to keep him grounded.
The land was safe once more. The people of Ordon were reunited once again.
Returning to Ordon, returning to that small world that once had been so big to him.
All he wanted to do was escape it.
It had all become too much. All so very much.
Everyone knew it. No one said anything but the rancher could tell. Could see their gazes, hated it no matter how well-meaning they were.
Their voices, once so soothing, irked him to the point that he wanted to tear off his own ears just for total silence.
If not his ears, then their very tongues.
He probably would have been horrified by his thoughts, had he been who he once was.
Even now it caused him pain. He didn’t want to look at them and feel anger.
It pained him. (It scared him.)
It was only when he numbly contemplated harm towards the villagers that he knew he had to leave.
He had to get out as quickly as he possibly could.  Least he gives in to those overwhelming thoughts.
(And a part of him feared their reaction, should he breakdown in front of them just as he had done in front of Midna.)
So he left. Quietly during the early hours, long before the sun had even begin to rise.
A quick glance through his supplies and a gentle pat to sooth Epona and he was off.
He knows he’ll make everyone worry. A dull sense of guilt pulsing in his chest. But it was pushed down by the sense of ‘far too much’ within him.
All he could do was pray that wherever the path led him next, it would bring some sort of relief.
Perhaps he would return home with a stronger resolve. Perhaps he could find peace.
Perhaps…he could return with a smile that wasn’t on the verge of tearing itself apart…
. . .
. .
.
(…He could only really hope.)

The Final Promise₊˚✩⊹
Chapter 9
Linked Universe x reader
Warnings: a LOT of angst and negative mental health, little fluff, Legend being Legend, some hints at spice
₊˚✩⊹
“Where the hell are we, Champ?” Legend groans, shaking his head.
Wild pulls out his slate, “We’re home! My hom- Hyrule, at least. We’re just past the Great Plateau, Southwest.”
He looks at the map a bit closer, “Close to Gerudo Highlands, actually.”
Your ears pick up at that. You were back on course, in a way.
“How far till the last stable before the desert, Wild?” you ask. He taps his chin in thought.
“Well if we start moving now, we could reach it by nightfall probably.”
And with that, you and the group started walking. You didn’t have Epona with you, so everyone was on foot. You walked with Twilight and Hyrule, talking about anything, you weren’t actively listening. You were too busy staring at Legend’s backside, as if you were trying to make him look at you.
“You good, Sugarplum? You’ve been zoned out for the past 20 minutes or so.” Hyrule whispers to you. Curse everyone for being so damn observant.
You nodded, “Yeah, just uh. I don’t know, a lot’s on my mind.” you mumble, finally pulling your eyes away from the Vet. Your staring wasn’t going anywhere.
“Are you and Vet ok? It seems like something’s going on between you two, but I don’t wanna assume.”
“We’re just stressed about our own situations. Nothing to worry about.”
“You should talk to him, y’know. That usually helps.”
“I trie- I will. I’m just a bit mentally preoccupied at the moment.” you said with a sad smile, Hyrule nods at you in understanding.
“I’m here for you, if needed.”
You keep walking, eyes focused on the terrain ahead of you. The red rock of the Gerudo Highlands were always quite a sight, even in game, but seeing them for yourself for the first time in ages was incredible.
The day passed relatively quickly, the only sounds being that of the wind and the occasional chatting between the boys. You didn’t talk much, not exactly having the social battery to converse.
You walked up to Time, as you always fell into comfortable silence with him and you felt like you haven’t spent much time with him since your incident. He gives you a quick glance, looking back at the path ahead.
“I can hear you thinking, Y/n. What is it?” he asked, still not looking at you.
You fumble with the straps on your harness, a nervous habit.
“I, just, uh feel like we haven’t had much time together lately.”
You think for a second. Wait.
“That wasn’t supposed to be a pun. Sorry.”
“I know what you meant, its alright. No need to apologize.”
“I feel like something else is on your mind though, Y/n. I think I may know what, but… I don’t know if now is the best time or place to talk about it. I don’t want the younger ones snooping in things they shouldn’t be.”
You laugh, “Time, we’re with grown men and one pre-teen.”
He scoffs, “They act like children.”
“You’re not wrong.”
You both stay quiet for a moment, taking in the serenity of the evening, the sun starting its descent into night. You can make out the faint plume of smoke in front of you, meaning that the last stable before Gerudo Desert was coming up. Looking up, you can see a few wolves on the snowy tops of the valley, looking down at you and your group. They howled for a bit, no doubt being curious and/or displeased with your presence in their territory.
You felt a shiver go up your spine, tickling the back of your neck.
“God, I forgot how cold the valley can get towards nighttime.” You pull out your only sweater, the famous Link hoodie that the group made fun of you for, but hey, at least you won’t freeze.
Pulling the hood up, you sighed in content. You sure will get some looks, but you were willing to sacrifice your dignity.
You all approached the stable, Wild jogging up to the innkeeper, checking you all in. Luckily, Wild had sold some precious stones earlier in the day with a merchant, so he had enough to pay for all of you.
“Inn’s kinda full, so we’re gonna have to share beds. I’ll share with whoever, don’t really have a preference.”
A few groans reverberate through the group, but there’s no conflict in pairing up.
Four walks up to you, hand on his knife holster, “Looks like it’s gonna be you and me, you ok with that?” You shrug, not like you had another option anyways.
You both walk to the vacant bed, which happens to be toward the very back of the inn, opposite of the main office. Wild’s inns were cozy, its just all the open space and vulnerability made you anxious.
“I’ll be right with you, don’t worry. I know how the lack of divided rooms affects you.”
Ah, so he knew.
“Thank you, Four. I don’t know why I’m so squeamish around large, vast spaces and not with tight spaces. It’s usually the opposite for people.”
He nods. You both unpack your belongings, Four placing his and your packs under the bed, away from prying eyes. You fidgeted with the necklace he made you, feeling yourself zoning out.
“You two good? Dinner’s almost ready!” Wars yells out to you both from the entrance. Four smiles, and you two walk out the inn towards the small campfire Wild made.
“If you start kicking me at night, I’m kicking you off the bed.” Legend says to Wind.
“I don’t kick!!” he exclaims, throwing his arms up.
“I’ve slept right next to you plenty of times to know you do fuckin’ combat in your dreams.” Vet mumbles, eyes briefly glancing at you.
You sit down on the ground, leaning against Sky. God, you were tired. Sky leaned over you, “How are you, Dove?”
You just groan, leaning against his leg.
“Yeah, same.”
You shiver again. Sky looks at you, then reaches behind him, grabbing a blanket. Where did he get that?
Leaning over you, he drapes it over you, tucking you in. You beam at him, “You’re so sweet, thank you Sky.”
Leaning against his leg, he absentmindedly brushes through your locks while you look into the fire. Wild gives you a smile as he tosses a few mushrooms in and a few dashes of goron spice.
You look to your left, Legend’s eyes on yours. He looks exhausted.
You glance back at the fire, feeling a blush creeping in at the attention from him.
“You excited to head into Gerudo Town tomorrow?” Wild asks, still stirring the pot.
“Yeah! I haven’t had the chance to meet Riju yet. I also can’t wait to finally try the Hydromelons, you keep goin’ on and on about them.” you smile.
Wild chuckles, “They’re delicious and beneficial, especially for the heat during the day. I even have a spare Vai outfit for you, so you shouldn’t struggle as much. I’ll give it to you after supper if I remember to.”
You nod. You don’t really pay attention to the rest of the conversation, no one bothering to bring you out of your daze.
~
Considering how exhausted you felt just over an hour ago, you were awake as can be in bed. You tossed and turned for what felt like hours, trying to find the right spot to doze off in. Four was out the second he hit the pillow.
Sighing heavily, you sit up and hop off the bed, walking towards the entrance of the inn. The lights were barely on at this point in the night, but you could make out the sleeping forms of the heroes as you passed by them. You grabbed a spare blanket from on top of one of the crates in the in and wore it like a cape, walking over to the small fire. You were surprised to find Legend sitting on a log, staring into the fire. He looked up when he heard your footsteps, eyes widening the slightest bit at the recognition of your face.
“Couldn’t sleep.” you mumbled, sitting a few feet away from him. He doesn’t respond, continuing to stare at the fire.
The silence is awkward.
“You look tired. You should sleep.” you say cautiously, not wanting to start conflict.
“‘m not. Can’t sleep anyways.” he mumbles.
Another moment of silence passes.
“Did I do something?” you ask, voice small.
He still doesn’t say anything. You were getting on edge, this wasn’t like him. He’s snarky, quick to talk back.
“What’s going on with you? A few days ago you were teasing me and goofing off with Wind and now you barely say a word, if that. If it’s something I said or did-”
“You didn’t do anything, Y/n.”
“You say that but you still won’t even look at me or talk to me. What are you so afraid of-”
“For the love of- Stop. Fucking stop. You don’t know me, stop trying to act like you care.”
“Excuse me?”
He finally looks at you, eyebrows furrowed and knuckles white on his knees, weeping to be relaxed and unclenched. He looked angry, scared, betrayed, horrified.
“I see how you look at me, full of pity and sadness, like I’m some fucking charity case to you. You think you may know all about my past, just because you’re our-my guide, but you don’t. You can’t even begin to imagine what I feel. What I have to be reminded of every time I close my eyes.”
“Link I don’t pity you and I have never pretended to know exactly what you went through. I know I was there, but I also know I don’t know what it was like for you and how it affected you.”
“I see how you are with the others. Time? Twilight? They look at you in ways I’ve never seen them look at someone. Hell, everyone looks at you like you’re some goddess descended upon Hyrule. I fucking- I can’t stand it.”
“I-”
“I don’t even know why you’re with us, Y/n. Why the fuck are you here, dealing with this prophecy cult bullshit? You could’ve avoided this if you weren’t stupid-”
“I NEVER FUCKING ASKED TO BE HERE.”
He seemed to shut up at your exclamation.
You took a shaky breath, already feeling the tears spilling from your eyes.
“You think I asked to be dragged through a portal, possibly never being able to come home? You think I fucking wanted this? I never wanted to become some ‘guide’ or ‘goddess’ as you put it. I’m just a nobody, a fucking girl that’s depressed and found comfort in characters that she could relate to, but I guess I was wrong. I can’t relate at all. To you, to Time, to any of you. I’m just some sorry excuse of a guide that’s scared of being alone and left behind.”
You were sobbing at this point, snot running down your chin, the tears clouding up your vision in front of you.
“I’m sorry I’ll leav-”
“Please don’t go. I need you, Link.”
Legend paused at that, processing your words.
“Ok. I’ll stay.”
You cautiously cuddled into his side, panting for air from your panic attack.
You needed him.
“I need you too, Mouse.”
You looked up at him at the mention of your nickname. His eyes were bloodshot, as if he had been crying for days on end. He wiped your tears away with his thumb, eyes not leaving your face.
“Kiss me, Link.”
And he did.
Legend groaned slightly into your mouth, causing you to gasp. He took it as an invitation to run his tongue along yours, your tears still running into your mouth, making your lips taste salty. He ran his callosed hands down your back and pulled you in closer, as if he was afraid this was a dream and you’ll leave him.
Just when you thought he was done, he pulled you onto his lap, blanket falling off your shoulders onto a heap on the ground. He moaned into your lips, making you press yourself against him, chest to chest. You wanted, needed more.
“More, Link-ah.” you whined.
He seemed to slow at your whining, coming back to reality. He sighed, placing his forehead against yours.
“I want to, Mousey. Trust me, I do, I just… someone might walk out here.”
You groan into his shoulder, but he was right. It was too risky.
He lifts your face off of his shoulder, tilting your chin up “But once we have some privacy I’ll give you more, ok? I promise.”
You flush at his words, knowing what he was insinuating.
“We should go in, before someone starts panicking. Would you… want to sleep next to me?” he asks, the tips of his ears bright pink. You nod, picking up the blanket from the ground. You suddenly felt very sleepy.
Following Legend back into the inn, you noticed Wind had fallen off the bed and made his way into Four’s bed, which seemed all a little too convinient for your current situation, but you were too tired to care.
You flopped into bed, and Legend followed suit, stripping his sheath and outer tunic before cuddling up to you. He placed a kiss on your forehead before whispering, “Goodnight, my little mouse.”
~
“Rise and shine fuckers!!”
You groan into your… pillow? That’s weird, when did it become so firm-oh. Oh.
The “pillow” groaned, rubbing his face with his hands. His pink hair was all over the place, under eyes still as droopy as ever. Yawning, he looked down at you with a sleepy smile.
“Guessin’ you slept well?”
“Huh?”
“You drooled all over me.”
“Oh, grossss. I’m so sorry Leg-”
“Don’t worry about it, I got another tunic in my pack.”
You stop to look at him. Really look at him. You haven’t had a moment like this with him… ever. He looked so happy, eyes crinkling in the corners, half unbuttoned tunic, hair messy from sleep. You wanted to see him happy. All of them, happy.
“Alright, love birds! Breakfast and out let’s go, let’s go!” Wind yelled again, clapping his hands.
You both rolled your eyes, begrudgingly getting out of bed. You pulled your tunic on, lacing it up in the back. You looked up while lacing to see him staring at you. He gave you a wink and went back to getting dressed as if it was another day on the job.
How the hell is he so casual about this?
You didn’t have time to dwell as Wild’s cooking snapped you out of your daze, bringing you outside to the same pot you and Legend were sitting at just a few hours ago. Legend was alreadyeating, looking up at you mid-bite for a moment before continuing to eat.
You sit in between Four and Warriors, Wild handing you a plate before you sat down.
Before you had a chance to take a bite, Wars asked “Where’d you and the Vet go last night?”
Shit, was he awake that entire time?
“We both couldn’t sleep, just sat by the fire for a bit.”
“Chat about anything?”
You narrowed your eyes.
What the hell was he getting at?
“Just… stuff. What are-” “Jeez Cap, leave her alone, would ya?” Vet snaps, already back to his typical snarky self. You mouth a ‘thanks’ to him, finally able to dig into your food. A few of the others exchange looks, curious about the sudden defensiveness Vet had over you.
You’d have to clear things up with Wars later, as Wild was ushring you back into the inn the second you finished chewing your last bite of food, needing to get you changed into more appropriate clothing.
“I managed to buy another vai outfit a few months back, I hope you like red.”
Wild hands you a bundle of soft red fabric, embroidered with silky golden thread and lace trim. Jesus, this looked expensive.
“Wild, you sure? This looks really expensive.”
“It really wasn’t, trust me. Now come on, we gotta get dressed and head out, Riju is expecting us.”
You nodded, already starting to strip your outer layers while Wild went outside to change. Thankfully, nobody was inside the inn so you could change quickly and quietly without any prying eyes. You catch a mirror in the far corner of the inn, deciding to take a quick once-over before you go out, and check on your healing back.
You turn around and your breath hitches.
Your wounds are completely gone.

I got some ideas
What if reader is the God/goddess of death like thanotos except they don't kill the living rather just guides them to their destination and maybe the god of time as well since they can wrap time back maybe knowing everything about the living to make sure where they go since they only interact with the dead and those who are chosen by the gods aka link and zelda. Maybe they had control over the moon as it seems to be able to rewind the dead and have to do with time from ocarina of time and majora maybe the reason the dead enemies come to life is because Gannon is slowly taking control over the moon and death while reader is trying to aid the chain. Maybe in first era Hylia and first befriended them and since war death are connected maybe fd was very close to reader even more than Hylia and first because they had something in common that they were God's feared more than cared causing Hylia to trap Fd in a mask over jealousy but reader didn't know that since gods can't die making them out of reader's control.
And maybe was close to demise before he became evil.
Reader appears when there's a full moon that isn't red and comes to give comfort and wisdom to the Zeldas and the chain singing a lullaby to them when their younger in their darkest times with hidden warnings to come
But when it becomes day they fade away back to the night kinds like flora and wild except it's not for the good of hyrule but them. Warning wind that his sister is going to be kidnapped the night before and wild and flora to not trust the robots. The kindness they treats them is like how uncle iro treats others. Maybe the reason she is stuck on the moon is either Hylia or Gannon not wanting to let go of reader as everyone is thirsting over reader as wanting to be in the loving arms of kind death. They suffered so much and there's reader giving affection and kind wisdom and love left and right . Got this idea from the song from CG5 don't close your eyes I think the name is.
And maybe another reason reader doesn't wander that much and people fearing them is while Hylia shown to look like a normal Hylian, reader has completely black eyes and snake like teeth a why taller hight long curved turquoise colored horns on their head a spiked tale with black curled hair on the back like a lion and black claws and black hair long enough to touch the floor making them not look so friendly maybe this only one of the forms reader can be other than a black cat with the black eyes isolating them even more but the chain don't care to the zeldas it makes it easier to get their hands on their beloved reader.
What yall think

Bound
A fun idea @neverchecking and I had was to let our OC's meet. They are just a little... overly friendly. After all, what's some girl time every now and then?
Warnings: N/SFW. Minors DNI. Restraints. Voyeurism. Girls being girls. Sage is there.
Aaliyah x Ceres N/SFW below the cut.
Tumblr media
His hand shuffled in the ropes, a string of curses falling from his mouth as he did so. Another moan carried from across the room, causing his eyes to shoot back over. His pants somehow grew even tighter at the sight.
“Aaliyah!” Ceres called out as she tightened her grip on the other’s hair.  Sage’s eyes widened, watching Ceres’s hips rise from the floor. And fuck if he didn’t enjoy the view. Ceres was on her back, hands tangled into Aaliyah’s hair as she absolutely devoured her. Legs were thrown over shoulders, hands on waist to keep steady and in place. Ceres’s eyes were blown with pleasure. Her breasts marked from earlier abuse, nipples hard against the cool air of the room. He wanted them in his mouth.
He was suddenly aware of his situation again when he tried to stand, ropes keeping him in place on the chair. Aaliyah stopped her assault for a moment to look over at him, he looked pathetic. His dick hard against his pants, eyes wide with desire, his bottom lip against his sharp teeth. All while straining with the ropes. She laughed a bit at him before going back to what she was doing, getting a squeal out of the other woman as she slipped a finger into her.
Sage’s brain began to grow hazy at the thought of being in the middle of them. He imagined one of them on his cock and the other sitting on his face. Both of them using him however they saw fit. Grinding out their own pleasure on him. Using him over and over and ov-
A louder moan pulled his attention away from his imagination. Ceres was now grinding her cunt up into Aaliyah’s face, moans and curses falling from her mouth. He knew that meant she was close. He stirred in his restraints again as Aaliyah looked up Ceres’s body. Her grip over her waist tightened, attempting to keep her more in place as she licked and suckled at her clit. A second digit was added, the pace picking up as she scissored them in and out of her heat.
“Oh, by the gods! Oh fuck, Sweetness. Just like that and I’ll-“ A high moan came from her mouth before she could finish. Her hips bucked upwards as she came onto the other’s face. Aaliyah took every bit that Ceres would give her, licking her until she was a whimpering mess, pulling away from her at the verge of overstimulation. Aaliyah smiled, pushing her fingers in and out a few more times before she pulled them out. She carefully laid Ceres’s legs back onto the ground before crawling up her, laying kisses along her plump belly and torso before arriving at her face. She took her wet fingers and waggled them above her mouth.
“Open.” She simply said. Ceres did as told, lolling her tongue out as Aaliyah put the two wet digits into her mouth. She moaned at her own taste, sucking them.
Aaliyah moaned out louder, pumping the fingers in and out of her partners mouth before she pulled them out and replaced them with her own mouth. She still tasted of Ceres. She ground her hips into Cere’s stomach, a moan filling her mouth. Ceres took the opportunity and pushed her tongue into her mouth, swiping over teeth and tongue alike.
Sage groaned as he watched Aaliyah’s slick cover Ceres’s stomach. Wishing desperately, it was his thigh instead.
As if reading his mind, Ceres took hold of Aaliyah’s hips and slowly pushed her down until she was seated steady on one of her thighs instead. She sat up so she their chests were pressed against one another, wrapping her arms around Aaliyah’s waist and grabbing at her ass. When their lips fell back against each other’s, Aaliyah wrapped her arms around Ceres’s neck, intertwining hair and fingers together and pulling ever so lightly. Teeth clashed together as the kiss deepened, an effort to make them even closer. Aaliyah gasped into the other’s mouth when she felt a tug at her ass, pulling her into a slow grind against thigh.
Sage squirmed again, his eyes gazing over watching the scene in front of him.
Ceres pulled away from the kiss once Aaliyah found a stead rhythm of her own. She kissed at her neck, sucking and biting small marks into it before licking the raised skin and moving to the next spot. Aaliyah’s whole body shivered with every flick and moan against her. Ceres marked her way down until she reached a nipple, taking it into her mouth. Aaliyah’s head fell back with a loud moan as she sucked at the hardened bud. Aaliyah’s rhythm only picked up, pushing down harder into the now soaked thigh.
His breathing got erratic when Aaliyah’s cum dripped down to the ground. The sound of her moans and the way her head was thrown back only adding to his growing frustration. His legs moved helpless in their ties, attempting to give him any kind of relief.
Ceres moved on from that nipple to the next, letting it out of her mouth with a loud pop. She assaulted the other with the same treatment. Pulling at it with her teeth before licking over it to cool the burn. Aaliyah knew she wouldn’t last long between the treatment she was getting and the way she was rubbing herself so wonderfully against Ceres’s thigh.
Sage knew that too, watching her chest rise and fall against Ceres’s mouth. His hips rose up in the chair, a groan coming from his throat at the feeling of his pants and the rope against him.
Aaliyah’s moans came faster now, a string of curses following each one as she worked her way closer and closer. “Ceres, Doll, I’m-“
“I know, come on.” Ceres smiled as she took a nipple back into her mouth, her grip on her ass tightening. A cry filled the room as Aaliyah’s movements slowed to a stop, the only encouragement to continue being the slight squeeze from behind her. She moved until she couldn’t, exhaustion and overstimulation flooding her vision.
Their eyes met as they fell into a slow kiss, tongue on tongue as they simply leaned against one another for a moment.
Sage groaned. “You think I can be untied now?”
Aaliyah rolled her closed eyes in the kiss, blindly reaching around for one of their tunics. Ceres helped her, finding one first and putting it into her hand. She blindly threw it at Sage. He groaned again as his vision was now obstructed from the tunic on his head.
Well, at least he could still hear the second round.

A good man [yan. Wars]
Tumblr media
TW: Yandere themes, Non consensual body modification, non consensual kissing, mispelling, bioshock 1 spoilers, character death (Time), Brainwashing.
This is a snippet for a bigger piece i’m writing.
once again- Spoilers for Bioshock (old game, but like eh)
0. a good man is:
“Would you kindly love me back.”
Warriors isn’t a good man.
He knows this. He knows this very, very well.
He has cheated, lied, deceived, pillaged, and murdered for the sake of Hyrule — a city that has consumed the life and souls of people seeking salvation, only to turn said salvation into an eternal purgatory to torment their souls even after death. He’s brought destruction hidden under the ideals of creation and protection.
In the words of others: “His” cause is just, yet his methods were no better than Ganon’s or Cia’s.
(Link is not a good man. He is a selfish, egotistical, self centered, cruel, and unjust man who spent his entire life to conveying the image of a heartful, charismatic, kind and understanding captain that others love to perceive as a “true hero.”
After everything, sometimes, Link looks at steps that he’s built upon to make his life and has to bite back the hysterical laughter that bubbles up chest
A hero. Hero. hero . heroherohero—
A manmade hero made out of brutality and horrifying experiments that have destroyed lives that are seen as things, but pure cattle. In the reflection of shattered glass that litter the streets of ravaged Hyrule, Warriors Link smiles.
Oh, He’s a hero alright. )
However, he’s a selfish man. A business man even.
And whats Warriors want, Warriors gets. No matter what.
i. a good man is a liar with a scarf.
Warriors isn’t a good man.
This you know, but by the time you truly know it, it is far too late to do anything about it.
“Would you kindly sleep for me.”
You stare hazily at blue eyes before you mind shuts down like a tv. A loud buzzing rushing through your fuzz filled mind. His hands linger on the sides of your face, cupping your face gently as the syringe loads into your body with ADAM. In the depths of closing slumber, you wonder when he had gotten his hands on that before you suscumb fully to his demand. Hazy, blank eyes stare back at him. Vacant like the halls that he wanders around. Vacant like the morals he had liked to parade in front of Ganondorf.
A good man wouldn’t use an innocent person. A good man wouldn’t brainwash, torture, and create a “human being” for the sake of revolution that isn’t even his
(shooting Time shouldn’t have been so easy, but in the end, it was as easy as taking candy from a mere babe. The poor fool had been frying at the seams. Begging for scraps of information about Malon and his dear boys, Twilight and Wind.
Even willing to eat at the hands of a cowardly liar who hungered for blood.
Parading with his identity, taking over the revolution as “Time” had been one of the easiest things he’d ever done, and Link had done a lot of difficult things.
For example: You.
Meeting you. The bastard child of Ganondorf. A creation bored from plasmids, dna of the sworn enemy, and a piece that Lana swore up and down that belonged to Hylia. By all means you weren’t technically human. You weren’t born in a real womb, but an artificial human in a mimicking test tube and thrown out into the surface after experiments showed your durability to live beyond what should be fatal wounds, strength, and the final plan of taking down Ganondorf
He should’ve killed you after the deed was done. Should’ve strung you up like the rest of damned beings in hyrule—Instead he strings you along which makes you wish you were dead. Just like your father.
He always looks at you with a charminh smile that never reaches his cold, blye eyes: “ would you kindly come with me .”
It was never a question.
After all, You never did have a choice.)
A good man wouldn’t touch somebody without their knowledge for the sake of a farce, or under the impression of “true love.”
A good man wouldn’t cut and destroy the ability to choose, to think, and to know for the sake of pure adoration even if it’s fake.
(Warriors is an awful person, but Link will always be a coward at heart. He doesn’t fully go through with destroying your mind, instead just settling your consciousness into a sort of “backseat” type of occasion that blanks whenever he uses the trigger phrase. He chooses to ignore how you’ll know everything he does to you and you can’t do anything about, aside from internally screaming in horror, rage, and grief as your autonomy is taken by the so-called “hero” of Hyrule.
Link is not a good man, but a coward, and cowards will always prioritize their own wants over the needs of others.
Even yours.)
A good man wouldn’t be doing any of this. But Warriors isn’t a good man. And when your eyes flutter, the light returns back to them. He ignores the blistering hatred concealed under dull eyes that show “love.”
A good man doesn’t exist in Hyrule. Only devils in human skin.

ꨄ︎ - ,, Yandere Hyrule - ,, ꨄ︎
"Here. I got you these."
"Flowers? Thank you, Hyrule. They're really pretty."
"Wild helped me pick them out. Since he's good with vegetation and all."
"They're my favorite. How did you know?"
"Um... Intuition! You pick up a few things when traveling for so long. I always saw your eyes linger on them when we traveled through fields."
I stalked you as well. I read through your private daily journal. I realized that whenever you were sad, you and Wind would pick flowers together and make flower crowns. I was in the woods watching both of you, feeling jealous and insecure when you mentioned that those flowers were your favorite. You looked so pretty when Wind put that flower crown on your head, like a ruler, like a god(dess).
"It means a lot that you're so insightful."
A lot more than you would know, love. Just for you. Only for you.

Pretty Boy
Finally, I got this finished. I had hoped to get this posted about two days earlier but damn did ending it kick my ass six ways 'til Sunday. I also changed the title of this fic because I kept reading the old title and it didn't gel as well as it used to for me. It may be a bit generic in my eyes, but it works. Although I do like him, I feel like I'm not the best at imagining or summarizing what Warriors' character is like. I still tried my best and am satisfied enough with the result. Enjoy!
TW: Yandere themes, gore, blood, long and detailed descriptions of torture, slightly suggestive in certain parts, some self deprecation on Wars' part, Wars is pretty... fucked up
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Being pretty wasn’t easy- and Wars knew this well. Yes, you could be considered attractive, but that was so… surface level. Surface level was enough to make merchants a bit more lenient towards you, makes it easier to obtain gossip, and made making “friends” less tiresome. Walking the walk wasn’t the hard part of being pretty. It was the talk.
To be pretty, handsome, desirable, beautiful, and more, required work. It required proper etiquette and good habits. It required a level head and a pleasant attitude. It required a good handle on your emotions regardless the situation. It required all of this and more. If you failed at any of this, even for a moment, pretty could get ugly.
For the longest time, Wars believed himself to be good at staying pretty. He knew he was on the surface- he wouldn’t be teased by his brothers otherwise if he wasn’t. He was usually chosen to be the face of the group when it came to handling locals and gathering information. A handsome face and charming attitude was nicer to deal with than a rugged face or snarky personality. No offense to Time and… maybe some offense to Legend.
It was tiresome. Playing nice with others he would sooner prefer to ignore or even berate. Hero he may be, he never saw himself as the tried and true goody-goody type. Thankfully, though, he didn’t have to be that with his brothers. He could partake in stupid games such as who can smash the most pots in a minute or who can last the longest in a cucco pen. He could make all sorts of dirty and dark jokes and have laughter answer him instead of shocked faces and gasps. It was freeing to be around his brothers- to forgo the title of hero and just be him.
And then you came along.
It was an unwelcome adjustment, at first. At all times now did he have to put on the facade of being this charming and polished hero. He forced himself to come to your aid whenever you stumbled or struggled with the journey they were on. Came to your defense whenever one of his brothers would snap at you for making a rookie mistake. It was clockwork to him. But you, on the other hand, weren’t.
“Wars? Mind if I talk to you about something? Uhm, privately?” You ask as you approach him with a noticeable level of hesitancy. It peaked Wars’ curiosity by a tad but he was far from surprised. He was your regular confidant amidst the group, after all.
“Sure,” Wars agrees as he follows you a distance away from the group. He wondered what you wanted to tell him this time. Was Legend getting too snarky with you again? Was Time making your training too rough to handle? Maybe Wind played a prank on you that crossed a line? Or was it not related to them at all? Perhaps you were feeling homesick and just wanted to talk one on one or just wanted to confide in him about something personal?
“Could you just… stop?”
… Huh?
“Listen I… appreciate you for what you’re doing- truly, I do. But… you don’t have to force yourself to like me or make the others like me,” You sigh and face him with a complex expression. Displeasure was the emotion Wars could make out the clearest and it made him squirm more than he’d like to admit.
“I… what? I’m not sure I follow,” Wars replied robotically. “Could you elaborate on what you mean?”
“I think I’m being clear enough already,” You sigh again but it’s deeper this time and Wars only finds himself growing more jittery. Why? Why was that? Why was your displeasure with him suddenly so… bad? “Please, just… stop with the facade. I’d rather you dislike me, or even hate me, then be some kind of- of fake friend with me. It’s not nice.”
Wars was left gaping like a fish. Even as you grew more suspicious with his silence and eventually walked away because of it, Wars couldn’t even formulate a word. Why was this shaking him up so badly? It was an act, yes, but… was it really? Had he actually grown to like you? Perhaps he had… and Wars didn’t know how to feel about it.
The next few days were awkward, to say the least. You’d seek out help from anyone else and Wars didn’t pipe up once. The tension was not missed by his brothers, but they didn’t butt in to help. Honestly, some seemed to enjoy the fact that the spot by your side was now left open. It was a bitter pill to swallow when Wars noticed that. Why?
He fell back on his training as a knight in hopes it would help him. When wanting to learn about the target, one must observe. He gathered intel left, right, and center in hopes of quelling the rapids of unease in his chest. He asked pestered his brothers about you whenever he was one on one with them. He’d strategically place himself behind you when the group traveled so he could watch you without worry. The more he observed, the more he learned, made him only grow more confused and… yearn.
Why were you asking Twilight how to ride horses? He could teach you that! It was drilled into him when he was training to be a knight, so no need to turn to the ranch hand for help! Why were you pestering Time for stories? Wars was a captain during a time of war! He had many stories to tell you (the not so gruesome ones, of course) and they’d be just as interesting! And why were you wanting to go into town with Legend? He’s good with merchants too, y’know?!
The unease in his chest only grew each day. The rapids had turned into a tsunami and the waters grew murky with green. The snarling and biting sensation of his heart hurt- like a viper had seized it. These boiling and bubbling feelings were awful and gross and disgusting and ugly. Pay attention to me! Think of me! Come to me first! Ask for my help! Look at me! Look at me! Look at me look at me look at me look at me look at me look at me look at me look at me LOOK AT ME!
As his patience was about to run dry, Hylia finally threw him a bone.
When it came to espionage, Wars was almost always the first pick. It was obvious he was the best suited for it considering he bothered to take care of himself and had formal etiquette drilled into him like a screw. Though, this event he had to sneak into was different. Why? Because it was a couple’s event and by a stroke of luck, you were his partner for the night.
Even though the outfit and make-up you were dolled up in was basic, Wars felt flabbergasted. He was so used to you being slightly grimey and dirtied up like most of the others that he never realized what all was hiding underneath that. For the first time in what felt like years, his heart was floating along on crystal clear waters. Despite this mission being supposedly high risk, Wars couldn’t help but feel relaxed as he had your hand in his nearly the whole night. Having you cling to him and coo at him, no matter how fake, had him light headed. Not even a higher power would be able to rip his gaze from you. Not like they’d be any more divine than you were.
From that night onward, Wars knew his place beside you now. While he missed being your sole confidant, he couldn’t exactly complain about his new role. A role that allowed him to be privy to every detail about you. From your routines to your clothes to your diet to your habits and even to your body. He’s lived around a castle and royalty long enough to know how to be an attendant.
He had to start small and work his way up. Given that your relationship with him was still on slightly rocky waters, he had to be patient yet again. Suggestions on what to potentially wear or little tips about hygiene were a good start in his mind. Just words, no touching- yes, that’s fine for now. Far from what he fully wants, but it’s enough to tide him over in the beginning.
And then… hmm… would you mind if he did your hair, (Name)? Nothing too fancy- just wanting to make sure it’s being taken care of and there’s a new style he thinks you might like. It’s an even mix of practical and fashionable and he’s sure you’ll like it. Hmm? Oh no no no no no! He wasn’t smelling your hair he was worshiping it, he was just getting close to get a piece of fuzz out! That’s all!
Also, what do you think about wearing this tunic with this pair of pants? He thinks the colors look well together. If it’s not your style, how about a few other outfits he came up with? Perhaps… a good ol’ green tunic to top off this pair of brown pants? Maybe maroon with something more tan colored? How about something bright like yellow? Or… oh, you’d look good in royal blue. … Oh? Why was he doing that? Well, you complained about having to pick out an outfit at times so he thought he’d help you out! Besides, he knows you trust in his style! So… is it okay if he takes care of that for you now? Okay? Okay! Great! And, uhm… do you need help getting dressed? Well, you did twist your ankle a few days ago and he wants to make sure you don’t irritate it while getting dressed. A-Are you sure? Positive? Well, okay… he’ll be right outside while you change just in case you need help please.
Ah ah ah! Don’t you give him that look! Look at your hands, do you really think you should be gripping a spoon at the moment? More than half of the soup is ending up back in the bowl and all over you, so just let him help! He’ll make sure to blow on it so that it’s not too hot, he promises. He’ll also handle getting you seconds or even thirds- yes, thirds. You need meat on your bones just as much as the rest of them and you know Wild cooks as much as he can for dinner. Just remember to open wide and say ah~.
He knows, he knows- it’s cold. Just do your best to stay still for him, will you? Can’t have your pores staying gunked up for much longer or else you could break out or even get sick. Also, your face will just feel nicer once he’s done. He’ll be careful around your eyes and lips. Actually, speaking of lips, why don’t you try out this lip balm he’s been using. No no no, don’t swat his hands- he’s just making sure to apply the right about. And… hold on, just a little more… there! Don’t your lips feel much better now? Look at how plump and pink they are now! Pretty, yes? Please just let him kiss them.
Hey! Settle down, you’ll just make your injuries worse! Yes, yes, you’re a capable adult and can wash yourself but look at you! There aren’t any potions or fairies to spare and Hyrule just knocked himself out from using too much magic! Now, please… let him help. Please, it hurts him to see you hurting like this. He won’t wash anywhere you don’t want him to and he’ll make sure to be as gentle as possible when it comes to dressing your wounds. He promises. Cross his heart and hope to die.
So, yes…
He was very content with his new role.
But don’t think this praise is one sided- oh no. He expects you to praise him back. He needs you to. If you don’t… well, he doesn’t mean to be dramatic but he’s sure his heart would stop beating.
So, please, praise him. Yes, comb your hands through his hair and admire how soft it is. No no, he doesn’t care that he just styled it- he can always style it again. Do you like it? Do you want to try out the products he’s been using? Ah, the way your fingers massage and scratch at his scalp feel lovely. Do keep going- he really doesn’t mind.
Hm? Does his voice really sound that nice? It’s nothing much, really, just his natural accent mixed with the elegancy expected from someone of his rank and title. If you like it so much… would you like to listen to him narrate a few poems he wrote? He’s been meaning to proof read them, anyways. Proof reading is easier when done aloud and with someone else there to check his work. Don’t cut back on criticism or praise- he wants to hear all of it.
Woah! No, it’s okay! It’s okay, it’s okay! You didn’t mean to barge in on him and it’s not like he’s indecent- just shirtless. But, since you’re here… would you do him a favor? He’s been checking himself out- wanting to see if his new training regiment is doing him any good. Do his biceps look bigger than before? Are his abs more defined? What do you mean he could just look in the mirror? Those things add ten pounds, you know! Just spoil him a little, wouldn’t you? He wants to hear your opinion because it’s the only one that ever matters to him anymore. No matter what he thinks of himself anymore, it’s nothing compared to how you see him. He’s all beautiful and pretty and dolled up just for you. Tell him what to change, what to do, how to act and he’ll follow every order to a T. Whatever it takes for you to hold him and touch him like he’s the embodiment of luxury. Mold the clay of his person into a masterpiece and admire the art turned life before you. Please just treasure him even a fraction of how he treasures you.
This perfect balance he had achieved with you was what made him wake up in the morning- figuratively and literally. He was there for almost every step of your daily routine now. Big or small, he had some hand in it even if you didn’t realize it. He had worked out every minute detail to the point that he’s not suffocating but he’ll never be far either. He’s good at what he does and he knows it- you make sure he does. He never gets less than five words of praise a day and if you short him- unknowingly, of course, you’re not cruel not like her- then he just has to perform at 110% the next day. So…
“The swelling and redness isn’t going down. It’s clearly poison. From what, I don’t know yet, but I intend to find out as soon as possible and have someone pay for doing this to them.”
How could he have let this happen?
You laid prone in the inn’s bed looking like you had just had your face slammed into a nest of vengeful hornets. It was swollen beyond belief and too red. Wild was silent as he slowly spooned homemade porridge into your mouth. His long and unkempt hair cascaded down his shoulders and covered his face. Wars didn’t need to look Wild in the eye to know how he silently sobbed- he was no better, after all.
“Any idea as to what happened?” Hyrule’s question draws Wars out of his stupor. He looks over at the brunette with an empty gaze. Hyrule narrows his eyes and waits with hands on hips for Wars to answer. Seconds tick by and Wars makes no sound but ultimately shakes his head.
“How… how do you not know? You’re always by their side…” Wild quietly pipes up. He’s barely turned his head and Wars can see his red rimmed eyes staring straight through him. Sadness pools in them and rage makes it seem like his tears are about to start boiling as they fall down his cheeks. Wars understood Wild’s feelings because they were his own. The wild haired man seemed ready to pin the blame on Wars and pounce so he could let out his emotion. Wars didn’t know if he’d bother to defend himself.
“I can’t think of anyone who would want to do this. We haven’t pissed off anyone in town yet nor have they,” Hyrule sighs as he returns to your side. He lets a healing spell fall from his hands to bring you some comfort. The swelling and redness doesn’t fade a bit since whatever poisoned you was actively affecting you. You barely make a sound in reaction to Hyrule’s spell or Wild continuing to feed you. Could you even speak? Did you even register that they were there or was Wars illusioning himself into believing you were even smidge bit lucid?
The door to the room bursts open and Wars doesn’t have time to snap at the intruder until he’s being slammed against the wall. Rough hands close in on his throat with a crushing grip and Wars finds himself staring into the crazed eyes of Twilight. The larger man is huffing and puffing like a raging bull and sporting his abnormally sharp teeth. For a few tense moments, Twilight does nothing more than stare down Wars. Was he debating on strangling him or tearing into his neck with his fangs? Perhaps both given that Twilight was about to blow.
“You… you… did this,” Twilight accuses as he presses Wars against the wall even harder. The accusation chills Wars to the bone as he looks over to you. He felt like this was his fault anyways but… for him to actually be the one who harmed you? How? How was that possible?! He does everything he can to support you and comfort you! He would sooner cut off his own hands than let them bring you harm! So how… how could he… what did he…
Something is slapped against his face and he suddenly finds it hard to breathe. As he coughs and sneezes, powder comes out. He swipes at his face to wipe off whatever Twilight had slapped onto him but it only seems to spread it more. A wet and cold towel is scrubbed against his skin as Hyrule jumps into action to save Wars from what is likely the supposed “poison”.
“Enough!” Hyrule yells as he stops cleaning Wars’ face. He looks over at Twilight with rage that had finally boiled over. “What the hell are you doing, Twilight?! What good are you trying to achieve by poisoning one of us?! Especially with (Name) in the room?!”
“It’s his fault!” Twilight snaps back. He picks up a round, blue container from the ground and nearly shoves it back in Wars’ face. Wars’ eye nearly fall out of their sockets when he recognizes what it is. “He bought this the other night and put it on their face this morning. When I was looking through (Name)’s belongings to find what may have poisoned them, the stench of this powder caught my attention. I don’t know what it is but it smelled rancid.”
“Foundation…” Wars croaks out as he stares at the container and the powder on himself. “It… it was supposed to be foundation. I bought it the other night from a cosmetic merchant. I looked through their wares and- and all of it seemed well made and luxurious. I-It was supposed to be a gift and… and they loved it. I put it on their face this morning and it went on so nicely and they looked so lovely and… and… and then…”
Wars sinks to the floor with a choked sob. He shakes and crawls over to your bedside with his eyes trained on your poor face the whole time. He can see you try to look over at him past the swollen lids of your eyes but he doubts you can see much at all. He wants to reach out to you and comfort you through the pain. To caress your face and whisper sweet words. To pepper gentle kisses across your skin while he murmurs out his adoration but he can’t. He’s tainted by the very thing that harms you now. He bought and handed you the very poison that swells and reds your skin. He recalls how you trusted him- like you always do- when he applied your make up this morning. And now look at you- look at what he’s done to you.
He’s pulled away from you by the collar of his shirt and nearly dragged out of the room. Twilight forces him to his feet and looks him dead in the eye. Although he’s had his outburst, his eyes are still simmering with anger. Wars can hear heavy footsteps echo behind him before Time comes into view. He looks over Twilight’s shoulder and gives Wars his own stoney scowl with both eyes open perhaps a sign to Wars that he was also angry about what happened.
“Legend is currently isolating the offender away from the town. You are to meet him at the appointed place and take over from there. The poor bastard’s fate is going to be in your hands and when I come to check in on you within three hours, I better find that you’ve dealt him due punishment. I’ll let your imagination run wild with the possibilities of what will be done to you should you not meet my expectations. Understood?” Time tsked. His look and tone made it clear that this order might as well be regarded as law.
“Yes sir,” Warriors nodded. He straightened up and dusted himself up. Slowly, training was taking over him and seeping into every fiber of his being as he marched out of the building. He carried himself with purpose as he walked to where Legend was supposedly waiting for him. Crowds parted to let the man through as it was clear he was on a mission and the malice that seeped off of him was enough to make even the guards look the other way.
The well paved roads of the town quickly turned into nothing more than well trodded dirt pebbled with rocks and gravel. After more walking, moss and more overgrowth overtook the ground. Wars had to give it to the Veteran- he was good when it came to preparation. He had likely dragged the man off to a secluded area far enough away from town that no one could hear any screams. He also imagined that the Vet had picked out a secluded area that would be hard to see and get to.
“Fucking finally…” came the tired groan of a bored Legend as he emerged from the tree line. He may have put on a good poker face of being nothing more than annoyed, but Wars could easily see through it. Eyes were the window to the soul, after all, and Legend was positively burning. “I’ve gotten tired of listening to the bastard whimper and cry. Be lucky that I had the patience and benevolence to save him for you.”
“I’m more surprised than anything, Legend. The fact that you’re not jumping at me and trying to tear me a new one is a little… off putting,” Wars huffed. Legend only grins at the man and approaches him with a saunter. He claps a hand onto Wars’ shoulder and leers up at the captain.
“Oh, I wanted to and I still very much want to right now. But, then, I got to thinking about how you’re now here and not beside them like some sort of dog on a leash. Hyrule trusts me greatly so there’s no doubt in my mind that I can be at their side for hours on end without interruption. Given what you did to them- and I do plan to tell them everything- they’ll surely appreciate me being there instead of you, don’tcha think? I always thought I looked better beside them than you ever did. After today, I’m sure they’ll agree,” Legend provokes as he smiles snarls at Wars. It takes every shred of willpower Wars can spare to not deck Legend in the face right then and there. Legend obviously notices the barely masked rage and laughs. He gives Wars a pat on the back and struts off while whistling.
Wars stalks down the slope Legend had come from before dropping down a small ledge. His boots squelched as they sunk into the thick moss of the cave floor. In the very back, illuminated by a few lanterns, sat the perp. He was bound up to a wooden chair thanks to thick strands of rope and chains. He was gagged but not blindfolded. His gaze met Wars and, for a fraction of a second, he seemed relieved- as if he expected Wars to be his savior. Naturally, these delusions were dismissed the moment the bound man caught a glimpse of Wars’ ice cold scowl and clear look of intent.
Instead of immediately lashing out at the merchant, Wars observes what tools he’s been left to work with: A pair of shears, some rusty knives, a bottle of green and viscous liquid, and a few rods of metal. Of course Legend wouldn’t leave him with anything good. The thing that Wars seemed to have the most hope in was that bottle of liquid but that could be saved for later. Save the best for last and all that…
“What shall I start with first? Something small, of course, but nonetheless painful. Can’t have you dying too soon, can we?” Wars sighed in annoyance as he combed a hand through his hair. After some contemplation, he picked up the pair of shears and directed them to the merchants hands. “Let’s get rid of those pesky fingers, shall we? I think that would be a lovely place to start.”
With anger fueling him and well defined muscle lining his arms, chopping through each finger didn’t require much more effort than chopping carrots did. It sounded rather similar to it too, just with a bit more snap. Wars took his time too- bothering to get the bladed edges of the shears comfortable against each joint before he slammed a hand down on the handle. Despite his control and technique, the process still went by too quickly for Wars.
Putting the shears to the side for the moment, Wars armed himself with one of the rusted over knifes. The blade was so dull that it likely couldn’t even cut butter but Wars would make it work. He brought the knife to the man’s arm and began to cut against it with a sawing motion. It took a few back and forth motions for the skin to finally give in but Wars stopped the second that happened. He moved the blade over by a hairs length and began again. With each cut made, he would move the blade over and begin to slice again.
Were Wars a naturally more savage man, he would have caved into his rage and pummeled the sinner into broken bones and gore the second he was left along with him. It sounded tempting, he wouldn’t lie, but this felt much better to him. The slow increase of pain and letting the man before him hang on a thread for however long he allowed was much more soothing to him. Death by a thousand cuts would take awhile but awhile was something Wars didn’t exactly have and it would be too lenient in Time’s eyes.
Wars’ next pick were the metal rods. He grabbed the heaviest and thickest of them all and tested the weight of it in his hand. Once he had a sure grip, he wasted no time in introducing it to the merchant’s knees. Over and over and over and over and over again did Wars slam the makeshift weapon into the sinner’s kneecaps. Only once he heard and felt each knee pop and crack below his blows did Wars move on. In a single, powerful strike, Wars hit the man across the face with the rod and broke his nose.
The damage he’s done so far was good but not enough. The man was barely lucid anymore- overwhelmed by pain and bloodloss. The idea of removing his gag and listening to him plead for a few minutes was now out of the question. Were Wars not so limited on tools and too clouded by emotion, he was sure he could do a lot more.
Arming himself with the knives once again, Wars finally began to stab him. It wasn’t relentless and wild, but calculated. He wanted each stab wound to not be overlapped by another so he could count each one at the end of this all. Given the poor state of his equipment, the knives were quick to bend after about ten stabs each. Once the blade of each knife had bent, Wars turned back to his trusty shears to continue the job. He made sure no inch of skin was left untouched by his rage. Even once he felt like he had gotten to each part of the man possible, he untied him from the chair and flopped him down onto the ground to get to his back. He was long since dead by now, but that wasn’t going to stop Wars.
The minutes trickled on by as Wars continued his work. He grew sweaty and his arms ached but he refused to rest. With his hands slick from blood and sweat, his palms sliced across the blade of his shears more than once as the metal refused to stay steady in his grip. It stung but it was a welcome sting- it brought him away from the monotony of his actions.
“I see you’ve done well to keep yourself busy,” Time’s voice muses and it jolts Wars away from his actions. He stands up and greets the older man with a curt nod before stepping away from the body. He lets Time get a good look at the corpse and hopes that it’s up to the man’s liking. Time also looks at the bloody and/ or broken tools Wars had used. He merely hummed and picked up the bottle that Wars had forgotten about.
“How are they?” Wars asks as he discards his shears.
“Better. Their face isn’t fully red and swollen anymore, but it’s patchy and sensitive. A welcome improvement but still a sight none of us like to see,” Time replies. He uncorks the glass bottle and tips it over. The thick liquids falls out in blobs and seeps into the open wounds of the corpse. It takes Wars a moment to realize that it wasn’t some sort of acid like he had originally suspected. Instead, it was a juvenile chu chu. Good thing Wars didn’t use it or else he’d have nothing to show Time.
“That’s good to hear. Any idea when they’ll be fully recovered?” Wars inquires further.
“They should be mostly healed up in about two days, but Hyrule recommended to not have them wear anything on their face for about a week,” Time answers as he discards the bottle. He glares down once more at the body before looking back up at Wars and gives him a curt nod. “Not bad for what you had. It’ll do.”
With Time’s approval, Wars lets his shoulders sag and a breath of relief leaves him. He follows the older hero out of the cave and away from the scene. Wars tears off a few strips of cloth from his shirt to cover his bleeding hands as a makeshift bandage. He’d heal them up once back with the rest of the group. He’d also have to remember to get a change of clothes as his were very wet and very red.
He paid minimal attention to his brothers when he returned back to the inn. He fell back onto his routine to get cleaned up. He rushed at certain parts when he remembered that you were nearby and potentially hopefully waiting for him. Once he had triple checked himself and made sure no blood or poison still clung to him, he snuck over to your room. Realistically, you’d be sleeping but even getting a glimpse of your relaxed face would be far better than the pain you were in earlier.
“Warriors?” Oh… you were up.
With the face of a man caught red handed, Wars stopped trying to sneak into the room. He was still quiet as not to disrupt the peaceful air nor to alert his brothers that currently laid sleeping rooms over.
“Yes?” Wars whispered as he sat down on the chair at you bedside. It held some residual warmth, so whoever had accompanied you earlier hadn’t been gone long. If Wars had to guess, he would be all in on it being Legend.
“Where have you been? I vaguely remember you and Hyrule and… Twilight, I think? Getting into an argument earlier. I think I feel asleep and then woke up with Legend beside me…” You recount. Wars feels his heart drop to chest despite having the Vet tell him what he planned on doing.
“I’m sorry,” Wars apologies quietly as his shaking hands reach out to grab your own. He pulls them in close and presses a gentle kiss to both knuckles and palms. “I’m- I’m so sorry…”
“Don’t apologize,” You sigh and Wars shakes his head. No, no you couldn’t forgive him for this. He hurt you- he doesn’t deserve forgiveness. But, then… that wouldn’t exactly be you then, would it? You always forgave them for what they did, whether or not you knew the full extent of it. You always forgave them and never stopped loving them which only made Wars’ heart clench and hurt more in the moment. Even with your face starting to look like you once again, he could still make out the residual damage done.
A hand cards its ways through Wars’ hair and massages the back of his neck. With a small grunt, Wars leans over and rests his head against your chest. He believed you should sooner be slapping him than caressing him, but he wasn’t going to argue. You were stubborn as a mule and who was he to go against your word and decisions?
“It’s okay, Link. You didn’t mean for this to happen so don’t go blaming yourself,” You coo as you continue to love on him. Hearing his name fall from your lips never failed to make him shiver and feel so vulnerable. It was such a wonderful and liberating feeling- to be the apple in your eye. Although he felt rotten and worm infested to the core, you still held him and admired him like he was ruby red and ripe from the tree. To be loved for both his pretty and ugly sides meant more to him than he could ever convey. He just hoped that, in all the he did, you would have an inkling of an idea of this.
“Look at me?”
The order was so tender and mild that he felt like it was sooner addressed to a babe and not him. Nonetheless, Wars didn’t hesitate to lift his head up and look at you. In the depths of your pupils could he see his reflection. His hair was unkempt and ruffled up by you hands. His thick lashes were misted by tears and his ocean blue eyes wobbled as he held your gaze. His skin was clean and cleared of any concealer so every pore and flaw were visible. Even in this state, he watched your eyes soften and crinkle into something so warm and sweet that made him feel like this was his most stunning moments yet.
“My pretty boy…” You whispered as you held his head his heart, his soul, his very ambition and will to live in your hand.
“Yes…” Wars croaked as he nuzzled against the silky skin of your palm. It was in these tender moments did Wars finally understand what salvation meant. “Your pretty boy… pretty just for you.”

Dink is link or unknown as he calls himself, just the darkness within his heart,
Everyone says that he can't love, because he can't feel it
People say that something so heartless couldn't, not at all
Until you came...
This is your fault why he likes you so much
You should have listened to them
He keeps you in the dark, literally
He says he loves you but you know it's not true.
Something like him can't love
he can't
but he holds you with such warmth you can't help but feel that way.
How he courted you was uncanny and odd
It started with burning roses, then to books on dark spells, then to monsters dead at your doorstep
before you know it...
there was a beating heart at your door and a little note
it said;
"Everyone said I can't be with you, my master, the hero, the princess in my realm and in yours, but I do. I love you so much that you make him feel like I have a heart, it feels like there is something beating in my chest when close to you, barely grazing my shoulder, barely being able to see me in the dark, but it's ok, you'll understand soon
Your love.
Unknown"
Unknown was written in blood with an odd odor... but that's all you remember before being held in a dark room with warm, strong arms wrapped around you.
You couldn't help but enjoy it
-----
I had to feed you guys something,

Tumblr media
# #. TIME
Time offers you his bed with a gentle smile on his face, hands on your shoulders as he carefully guides you to the bed. His voice is soft, promising that you'd be in good hands while laying with him.
He laid beside you, his back to your front, as to not make you uncomfortable. Its silent and still for a few moments, before shifting closer to him. You can't help but press your chest up against his warm back, throwing your arms around him as you giggled. Time stilled, feeling your face press up against his built back. He chuckled as you fell asleep, a soft smile forming on his flushed face.
He doesn't shift much as the night goes on. Besides cuddling further into you, he sometimes turns on his back, laying your head on his chest. Time's arms wrap around your body, as the two of you snore the first of many nights away.
# #. TWILIGHT
Twilight takes your hand in his as he brings you to the room. Sweat dripped down your face as you looked back a the other boys- Twilight didn't even ask! He just straight up dragged you. But honestly? Could you really complain? It was Twilight for gods sake. It was a dream come true to just be besides him.
You lay on your side, facing away from Twilight as you try to rest. You can't help but notice how his eyes seem to be piercing thru you. He shifts onto the bed, your back to his chest. You could feel his breath against your neck as he shuffled closer into you. Oh my god. This man was going to kill you with his stare- jasajkqdkauiksuef. Twilight chuckled softly to himself, noticing you squirm uncomfortably. Before you knew it, however, Twilights hand wrapped around your waist.
You couldn't sleep much that night. Maybe it was because you didn't want to bother Twilight by moving in your sleep. Or maybe it was because you were too flushed to do so. Between his soft breaths against your bare neck, accompanied by the way he slightly rubbed your waist as you slept. You were never going to be able to sleep at this rate. Either way, Twilight had an amazing night.
# #. WILD
Like Twilight and Time, Wild offers his bed with no hesitation, that smile on his face growing even more so once you agree. He grabs you by the waist, carrying you bridal style all tye way to the bed. You couldn't help but the thoughts that ran over you due to his eagerness.
Wild falls asleep as soon as he hits the bed, meaning he's all over you as soon as he falls asleep. His legs are thrown over yours, arms wrapped around your waist in a tight grip. He often moves around in his sleep, and drags your body wherever he moves. No matter what you try he just won't let loose, it's honestly better to just let him hold on and move around until he wakes up. He's a great cuddle buddy tho!
Sometimes, late at night, you may catch him cuddling into your chest, listening to your heartbeat as he sleeps, his arms are wrapped tightly around you, as a small smile grace's his lips. It might even grow if you pet his head as you rest side by side.
# #. SKY
Sky is the kind of person most people would want to sleep by. He has a calming personality and a gentle aura that just draws you towards him. So how could you ever say no to his proposal?
He lays face to face beside you. His beautiful blue eyes gazing deeply into yous. Seriously what was with these men trying to swoon you at every turn smh. Although Sky seems like he's trying to start something with his alluring gaze, he sticks to himself. His hands and legs stay on his side of the bed, although, while the two of you lay under the soft blanket you may feel him brush up against you.
Deep into the night, however, Sky lets his body relax against yours, hands and legs intertwining with your own. He held your hands in his own, his body pressing up against yours. His head pressed against your own, as light snores left his lips. You cant help but smile at him. Sky loves sleep. But he loves it more when it's with you.
# #. WARRIORS
Warriors gives you a flirtatious smirk as he asks the question- but deep down you know he's squealing like a little girl finally getting to talk to her crush for the first time. It was funny watching him act all Macho as he laid on the bed, raising his eyebrows as he beckoned you over. This guy is a total nerd istg.
Honestly just to spite him it'd be kind of funny to just sleep on the floor- but then you remember that he's actually a pretty boy so can you really say no? No. You can't. At first you may think he'll be all up on you as you lay together- but in reality he just sticks to his side of the bed, out of your space. Little words are spoke between the two of you, just a quick goodnight with a gaze that leaves your heart melting, before he's off to sleep.
It doesn't take that long for either of you to fall asleep. But soon Warriors arms come to wrap around you. He’s holding you close to his body as he succumbs to sleep. Too close in fact. It’s as if he’s hugging you to death with how tight his grip is. However, you cant help but snuggle into him. It's not uncomfortable being in his arms, in fact, it may just be one of the best hugs you had ever experienced.
# #. LEGEND
Legend probably didn't invited you to sleep beside him. No, it was probably your fault that the two of you were stuck together. Instead of him inviting you, you invited himself into his bed. Honestly, its kind of funny.
He's probably scooted all the way towards the edge of the bed, facing away from you, and frowning in annoyance. The two of you definitely sleep back to back, no questions asked. Mainly because if he caught a look at your sleeping face he'd get all embarrassed for sure. There's is no contact or words spoken between the two of you, just utter and complete silence as he tries to sleep.
But deep into the night he shuffles closer to you, burying his head in your chest for warmth and comfort. His arms wrap loosely around your hips as his legs press against yours. It's very tempting to take a picture but you decide against it, keeping his head there for the rest of the night. When he awakes he's in a for a major surprise!!
# #. HYRULE
Hyrule is immediately nervous when he poses the question. Would you say no? Ugh that'd be so embarrassing for him if you did- would you even ever talk to him again? All these doubts consume his mind- rushing in on a never ending loop- until you agree with a smile on your face. That's still doesn't stop how nervous he is while laying besides you though.
Its awkward for a bit as you and Hyrule lay on your backs, staring up at the ceiling as you talked the night away. He relaxes as time goes on. His hands are laid across his chest, a smile on his face as he speaks. You converse about his adventures, world, and vise versa. He spoke to you so kindly and gently. That you couldn't help but giggle alongside him.
You talk deep into the night, but suddenly the waves of tiredness consume you both. Accompanied by the cold air and the long and excruciating day you just went thru, you almost fell asleep immediately. You and Hyrule cuddle close for comfort. It's hard being in a different world- away from all your friends and family. But being besides him made it just a bit better.
# #. FOUR
Four is a bit embarrassed to be sharing a room with you, yet he gravbs your hand, intertwining your fingers as he leads you to the room. He tells you he can shift into his minish as you guys sleep. Giving the both of you more room and space in the bed. Yet you disagree, mainly because don't want to crush him obviously-
So instead you just cuddle him close to your chest, holding him against you as you 'immediately' fall asleep. You can feel him tense and squirm around in your hold- yet he doesnt dare do anything. Four can't move- that would disrupt your sleep! His mind is running, his face flushing a deep red, ad he feels you hold him tighter. How the hell was he going to get out of this?!
He settles down in your embrace, slowly succumbing to sleep after his mini heart attack. He moves up your chest slightly, resting his head just below your neck. His legs intertwine with your own as his hands wrap around you in a tight hug. You can feel his soft, yet hot breathing against your neck, making you smile against his forehead.
..
Honestly just make a giant dog pile with all of them and sleep together. That'll be fun!
I love all these Links <3

The Final Promise₊˚✩⊹
Chapter 8
Linked Universe x reader
Warnings: depression, angst, mentions of mental health, some fluff
₊˚✩⊹
Sky tucks you in, placing another small cushion under your head to take a bit of pressure from your back, but it doesn’t relieve much pain.
“Need anything?” he asks, cradling your hands in his, so gently as if he was scared of hurting you more. You shake your head.
“Stay?” you ask.
He nods, a small smile on his face. He makes his way to the other side of the bed, slipping off his boots that he put on earlier. He wasn’t exactly dressed for the day when he experienced all of the commotion, so he was already in his sleeping tunic and pants.
Slipping under the covers, he faces you, examining your features for any possible open wounds or signs of discomfort.
“I can hear you panicking over me, Sky. I’m fine. Sore, but fine.” you say, glancing at him.
“Sorry.”
“You’re all good. Just don’t want you to be in even more stress, hell knows we don’t need more of it.”
You were both silent for a while. The only sounds being the occasional grunt from you or shuffling in the covers.
“What’s home like for you?” Sky asks.
Well that came out of the blue.
“What do you mean? Like in general or my life?”
He props himself up on his elbow, like Twilight did last night, but you shoo the the thought away quickly, not wanting to think about making out with your traveling partner.
“I guess more so your life. What’s it like, at least most recently?”
You think for a moment.
“Well, I go to school, college as they call it. I live in an apartment with my roommate with a dog and a cat, god knows how they even stand each other. I work at a bakery when I’m not in school, which is ran by my aunt. She’s kind of the only family I have, other than my pets, I guess.”
You smile before continuing, “Its nice back home, I miss it. Despite my past… i’m doing pretty ok right now. I hope to introduce you guys to my life someday, if its possible.”
Sky smiles at that, “That’d be nice. I’d love to meet your aunt, she sounds kind.”
Another beat of silence.
“What about your parents?”
Sky notices your wince at the question, “Sorr-”
“It’s fine. They’re not around anymore. Weren’t the best towards me. That’s all.” you mumble, wanting to change the subject.
He nods, but something is off about his demeanor. He seems… upset.
“Sky, hey, they’re not around anymore, they haven’t been since I was 15. It’s long in the past.”
He grasps your hands tighter, “But the fact that they treated you terribly, regardless of how long ago, is still horrible. You… didn’t deserve that. I wish I knew, so I could-”
“There’s literally no way you could’ve known, you could only barely hear me when I only played the game, much less hear me outside of it. Stop blaming yourself Sky, you carry so many burdens with you that shouldn’t be there in the first place.” your voice stern, but not because you were upset with him.
“It’s hard not to. I mean, I caused the curse to begin in the first place, consequently placing the burden on everyone else. In a way, it… is my fault.”
“You were young, Sky. You didn’t know, or ask for it. You can blame yourself as much as you want, but I saw what happened, and it wasn’t your fault.”
You both stayed silent for a while, processing.
“Thank you.”
“Don’t thank me for telling the truth, Link.”
When evening rolls around the others wonder where Sky is, prompting a few of the members to come upstairs, anticipating the worst.
They find you asleep on Sky’s chest, hands grasping each other.
~
“Ok, what animal do you think you’d be? I’d be a big ass shark!” Wind exclaims.
“Language.” Wind just rolls his eyes.
“I think I’d be a fox: sly and cunning.” Wars states.
“More like flirty and you hiss.” Twilight mumbles, earning a choked giggle from you.
“Says you! You’d probably be a mountain goat!” he exclaims, hand on his chest dramatically.
“You’re actually not far off, an Ordonian goat.” he says, smiling.
“Oh, shut up, cowboy.”
“Hmmm… I think I’d be a swallow or maybe a sparrow.” Sky mumbles, deep in thought.
“Suits you, birdbrain.” Legend says, sarcasm lacing his tone, Sky just shoots him a bored stare.
You roll your eyes, turning to Time, “How ‘bout you, Old man? Any ideas?”
He sighs, “Maybe a wolf, protective of family and travel in packs. Loyal and cautious.”
You raise your eyebrow at him, turning to Twilight with a smile. He shrugs back at you.
What a coincidence.
You turn to Legend with a teasing smile, “You’re definitely a rabbit. All bark, no bite.”
Legend guffaws at you, “H-How did you- why I’m offended Y/n! Really supportive of you, Mouse.”
You just laugh loudly, but it quickly follows with a sharp pain from your back, causing you to hiss with pain. The group around you gets silent, anticipating.
“Ah, ouch! Fucking ow- guys I’m fine, just laughed a bit too hard. Anyways, Wild? How about you?” you ask.
His expression still worried, he hesitates before answering “I-uh, I don’t really know. Never really thought about it.”
Hyrule pipes up, “I don’t know about you guys, but I feel like I’d be a goat. Not Ordonian, maybe more like the ones we saw in Hateno Village.”
Hums of agreement go around the group.
“Personally, I’m with Sky on the Sparrow. Probably because I’m part Minish.” Four says, crossing his arms while leaning back. He looks at you, “And, Y/n? What about you?”
All eyes were on you, anticipating your answer.
Just as you were about to answer, Legend beats you to it “Easy, a mouse. Ain’t that right, Mousey?”
You squeak in surprise, face bright red.
Legend just hums in satisfaction, leaning against the wall, “Told you, a squeaker.”
You just look at him, eyes wide. He just gazes at you, eyeing you like a predator.
The silence was unbearable. If you weren’t covered in wounds and bruises, you would’ve sprinted out of the room. The awkwardness tension was suffocating.
“Are you guys done drooling?” Four asked.
The next minute all you can hear was yells directed at Four and Wind dying of laughter on the floor.
~
The next couple days were agonizingly slow. All you did was lay in bed, change your bandages, or talk to the group and occasionally Malon. You felt so guilty for everything that had transpired the past few days for her, apologizing profusely every moment you were with her. She didn’t want to hear any of it.
By the end of the fourth day, you were finally able to stand up and walk downstairs, granted you were leaning on Wars the entire way down, almost falling face first halfway down.
“Look! Mouse is up!” Wind exclaimed, running to you and hugging your unoccupied arm to not put pressure onto your back.
“Seems like I have a new nickname, huh?” you chuckled, ruffling his sandy hair.
“How are you faring, Y/n?” Time asked, arms propped on the dining table. He looked tired.
You gave him a small smile, “Better, still really sore, but couldn’t be in that bed any longer, my ass was deflating.”
Legend coughs, “Can’t be flatter than Cap’s.” earning him a smack on the head from Sky.
You rolled your eyes for the millionth time, “Anyways… How has everyone been lately? I know things have been pretty shaken up around here the past few days.”
“Before ya go on apologizin’ and all, don’t. We don’t know who did that to you or if not someone, what did that to you.” Twilight said, voice stern.
You nodded, accepting his statement.
“But besides that, we’ve been alright. Mostly doin’ work around the ranch for Malon. She’s out in Castle Town right now.”
Time stands up from the chair, looking at you “Which is why now is a good time to talk about our next steps.”
Everyone sits down around the table, Wars helping you sit down without hitting your back in the process.
“We’ve been here for a little under a week and so far there’s been no news or updates on either the Shadow’s army or Y/n’s passageway home. Although the serenity for once is nice, it feels too serene. Too ideal. I want to say something is going on behind the scenes, but I don’t have any proof to show for that.”
Wars nods along before joining in, “I too have felt that way. It’s unlike for the Shadow to leave us like this for almost a week. It feels too convenient for us, especially since Y/n’s incident. Do you think he hurt Y/n to distract us?”
Time thought for a moment, eyes focused on the vase on the table.
“No. No, I don’t think it was to distract us, or not in the way you’re thinking. From what I’ve noticed from our battles with him, he needs to regenerate health over time to get back to his full potential again. He isn’t invincible, but he seems like it when we encounter him because he’s had time to heal.”
Legend sits up.
“So why don’t we ever track him down whenever he’s healing and finish him off? We could’ve been done with this bullshit so much sooner!!”
Four shoots him a look, Legend just quietly seethes in his chair.
“Pardon my language, but it’s practically impossible to track that fucker down. From what we’ve seen with the portals, he disappears through them, and we don’t have a way of summoning portals or knowing when or where they went.”
You nod along, things were starting to click together.
“All I’m gonna say is that the Shadow is definitely not who I encountered in my vision, dream, or whatever the fuck it was. I thought that’s who it was, but…. It’s very unlikely that it’s him.”
Time looks around the group, “Right, well, there’s not much we can do right now. My guess is that a portal may show up somewhere around here in the next few days to a week, so we should always be ready to leave. You never know when it’ll open back up, even in the middle of the night.”
You groan, “Why do I have a feeling that’s what’s gonna happen.”
You look at Twilight, “Twi if we have to leave at two in the morning, you’re carrying me.”
He raises an amused eyebrow at you, “Is tha’ right? You the boss all of a sudden?”
You smirk. “I’m the only woman in the group, so yeah. Plus… you wouldn’t wanna upset me during shark week, would ya?”
Twilight’s smile dropped, ears flushed. Everyone just stares at you, wide-eyed.
Wind high-fives you. You had them wrapped right around your finger.
~
The chain and you were currently sitting on the couch and floor, just talking and laughing over jokes while Wild and Sky cooked in the kitchen. You sat in the corner of the couch, a pillow propped up behind your back and a blanket wrapped around your form. You were half listening to the boys’ conversation when the topic of birthdays came up.
“When’s your birthday, Y/n?” You snap back into the conversation.
“God, I haven't thought about my birthday in ages! I have probably missed one since being here. My birthday is in the late winter, though our idea of seasons and months are different from Hyrule's, so I can’t pinpoint the day,” you smile sadly.
“So you’re… 19? 20?” Hyrule asks, counting in his head.
“I think I’m 19 right now, but I’ll be 20 soon.”
Wind jumps up, “We’ve gotta celebrate! Birthdays are like the best time of year! Other than the Winter and Summer festivals.”
You look at Time, “Yeah, maybe when things settle down a bit. To be honest I don’t even know what to do or how to celebrate my birthday here.”
“We could always celebrate it during one of the upcoming festivals. It'll be easier to plan and there’s plenty to do.” Time offers, looking around for responses. Everyone agrees, already discussing what they think would be fun for you.
“Dinner’s ready!” Wild shouts out, ending the conversation and starting a new one. Twilight holds your arm to walk you to the table, your legs still shaky from the lack of physical activity the past few days. He sits you first, then slides into the chair to the right of you. You feel his hand slide into yours, giving it a small squeeze.
~
Legend follows you up, arm under your armpit in case you lose your balance. It was his turn for watch over you, the routine being almost natural at this point.
“Easy, Mouse. We don’t want you opening up those wounds again.” he mumbles, checking over your back. Satisfied with the lack of blood, you both continue back to your room, him shutting the door behind him. It must have been past midnight, as you could feel your tiredness approaching you.
You climb into bed, too lazy to change into comfier clothes, as that could risk reopening the stitches again. Wincing, it takes you a few minutes to find a painless position, as you can’t fully lay on your back.
Once you’ve settled, you notice Legend is still standing by the door, watching you.
“You… do know you can sleep with me right? You don’t have to stand there watching me.”
He seems to snap out of it, shaking his head slightly.
“Right, uh, sure. Need anything before I turn the lights out?”
You shake your head, patting the empty space beside you.
He sits on top of the covers, fully clad in his tunic and robes, even in his pegasus boots. He was staring at the wall across from you both, seemingly deep in thought.
“Rupee for your thoughts?” you ask, it has taken you a while to switch up the terminology from “penny” to “Rupee”. The first time you said the phrase, it took a lot of explaining on your part.
Legend seems to take a breath to speak, but instead stays quiet. Almost as if someone told him to not talk.
You inch toward his hand with yours, lightly holding it. It was ice cold.
“You do know I’m here for you, right? Whatever it is, I’m here for you Leg.” you murmur, not wanting to trigger anything for him.
“Forget it, I’m fine. Just rest, Y/n.” he rasps, eyes still not meeting yours. This was unlike him. You’d like to think you’ve both grown to trust each other over the past year or so, so you weren’t sure as to why he’s being close off and snarky about it.
“Leg, are you sure-” “Leave it, Y/n.” he grunts, his entire body goes tense, you pulling your hand back towards yourself. You could feel your eyes burn, so you lay down and lie on your side, facing away from him. Your tears silently spilled from your waterline until you fell asleep.
~
The next time you were woken up, Wild was shaking you by your arm, “Y/n wake up. Portal at the edge of the farm. Start getting ready and someone will be up in a few to help you pack up.”
He quickly jogged out, leaving the door open. You could hear Malon talking to someone. When’d she get back?
Eyes bleary, you noticed that the spot where Legend was sitting was empty, covers not even pulled down. Seems like he left the first chance he’d gotten.
Wincing a bit, you hobble out of bed, heading over to where your pack lay on the dresser. You managed to pull on your tunic over your long sleeve shirt. Your pants were on just as Wars came into the room, looking disheveled for the first time in your time with them.
“Make sure you put your harness on, we might be dropped into battle.” he rambles, eyes flicking over the room, making sure you didn’t leave anything.
You were too tired to talk, silently tying your pack up and slinging it over your shoulder. Wars helped you adjust the chest harness, being careful to not squeeze your back too much.
“Ready?” you nod, “Alright, let's start heading out, it’s almost dawn.”
“Wars? Are you ok?” he seemed off, he was always composed, strictly business you once joked. But now was no laughing matter. You were worried for him. All of them.
He just smiled, but it didn’t reach his eyes.
“Just tired, Y/n.”
He rarely used your name except if he was being serious or if he was worried.
Before you could keep pestering him, he pulled you along the hallway and down the stairs, helping you down the stairs like he usually did. Everyone was already awake, packing last minute and putting on clothes and armor.
Twilight looks up from his boots, fastening the buckles around the calf.
“There ya are, was worried ya were still asleep. All ready?” he walks up to you, placing his hands on your shoulders. You nod, yawning. He chuckled, giving you a small kiss on the crown of your forehead, “Don’t worry, pumpkin, we’ll make up for yer lost sleeping hours as soon as we can, ok?” You were too tired to react to the physical affection, just nodding into his chest.
You could feel Legend’s eyes on you, but you couldn’t deal with him right now. Avoidance was definitely not the best thing to do right now, but everyone was on a time limit to get to that portal.
Malon walks up to you, “Before you say anythin’, I’m gonna miss you too and stop apologizin’.” You chuckle, “You know me too well, Mal. I’m sorry we have to go so soon. I’ll miss you.” She smiles sadly. She brings you into a warm hug, mumbling into your ear “Just be safe, Y/n. I know how dangerous it is travelin’ with ‘em. I fully trust Link, I just don’t want you to be reckless and get hurt. Look after him for me?” she asks, voice slightly cracking.
“Of course Mal. Anything for you.”
“You’re too kind for this cruel world Y/n. I hope you come back soon, under better circumstances perhaps.”
“I’ll be back before you know it. Ok?”
She lets you go, talking to Time about being careful and giving him the whole talk on “don’t be too hard on them, be careful”, the usual. Once that was done, Malon waves you all off, you walking through the field towards the portal. It was dark and imposing, standing amongst the fauna and flora of Lon Lon Ranch. You walked with Twilight, firmly grasping his arm.
You both walk in, hand in hand, the others following behind you through the murky purple abyss.
