i definitely do on tumblr! it's one of the first things i do when i wake up actually. on ao3, though...i'm pretty sure i have about eight hundred unanswered comments sitting in my inbox 💀 it's an ongoing issue

6. what’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

i'm almost sure it's this post-game show lance leaving fic, because i got comments and asks for weeks begging me to write a happy ending lol. but this fic from the hana universe, from when keith is little and shiro is fighting for custody and they haven't figured things out yet. that one is sad. this dream pov adashi fic is also sad and has no happy ending bc, you know. shiro is in space and adam thinks he's dead and everything. my loneliest series is also still in progress and as such there is no happy ending. and this is my earliest angsty-ending fic with MCD

7. what’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

oh god pretty much everything i write has a happy ending?? if i’m being serious?? frankly i don’t do a lot of linear plot. i just write Scenes that are vaguely connected. BUT my h2o fic had a plot that ended happily, as did my cowboy fic, but truly i’m more of a slice of life kinda gal. all my active wips are plot-driven, though, and i plan for all of them to end happily.

8. do you get hate on fics?

oh god yeah. i get it on brown eyed lance, autistic lance, adhd keith, allura just in general (are you sensing a pattern), my refusal to use readmores, and lately just some demands for me to write differently/more?? most of it is just funny so i post it to goof on it lol, but some of it i just delete and pout about until i forget about it 💀

9. do you write smut? if so, what kind?

yes and it’s nasty and i will literally never ever post it. although i guess i’ve written some softer stuff that’s more allusion than anything, like in my loneliest series.

10. do you write crossovers? what’s the craziest one you’ve written?

not anymore, but i did when i was a kid?? i think i wrote a pjo/hoo/divergent/the mortal instruments/homestuck/a bunch of other shit fic when i was 13. i’ve successfully blocked that era out of my mind tho so i’m not sure. i do a lot of insane aus, tho. i wrote a fic based off a country song written in the sixties. so.

11. have you ever had a fic stolen?

i’ve had people write continuations of my wips?? which i didn’t rly like. i just ignored it.

12. have you ever had a fic translated?

someone has asked me about translating a fic before! haven’t heard anything since tho.

13. have you ever co-written a fic before?

i have tried. i’m not very good at it. i have very Specific ideas about things and can be very controlling, so it’s honestly better that i don’t lol.

klance, easy. been in the trenches of this goddamn fandom since i was 13 years of age. it’s been a Journey.

15. what’s a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

god, the butterfly effect. i get people asking me to update all the time and i genuinely feel bad, because i have absolutely no ideas or plans for it. i might try to come up with an ending of some kind?? but i wrote that like two years ago, so i have changed a LOT about my writing since then.

16. what are your writing strengths?

dialogue and humour, i think. and sometimes writing lack of emotional communication (if that makes sense — i like to try and write around an emotion).

17. what are your writing weaknesses?

i over explain a lot. and i overuse dialog ur tags sometimes. i have a Very Specific scene playing out in my head and i want everyone else to see it like i’m seeing it, which is my downfall a lot. i’ve been trying to work on implicit stage directions.

18. thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

i think sometimes it’s necessary? it can be a good tool for humour, like with cussing that can’t be achieved in english. but while i understand and read several languages i have always always struggled to speak or write in them. it’s very frustrating so i often avoid the subject entirely lol.

19. first fandom you wrote for?

i’ve been writing fanfic in my head since before i knew what it was, but i started typing things at around 11 when i used to homestuck roleplay with my friends lol. messy messy times.

oh i am my own target audience. i have several.

i need a man (who’s patient and kind): keith-centric post canon (divergence) fic where lance takes him to his family and keith is good with kids and just keith being loved is the whole point. always.

what if i lose it all: an alternate universe where lance, as a baby, loses both his parents, and then is raised by his oldest siblings. in luis’ pov.

when does a ripple become a tidal wave (when does the reason become the flame): brogane fight & angst canon divergence post season 6; covering shiro’s guilt complex and keith’s unwavering loyalty

Klance fic ideas: Cinderella AU

Okay so this has probably been done before but I had some ideas. This is more loosely based around Cinderella and I love it so here goes:

Keith is the dumb prince duh

Keith is complaining to Pidge, his butler, about not finding any of his marriage offers attractive

Side note: just like in the show Pidge is a girl who pretends to be a dude to sneak into the garrison, or in this case, the castle. She snuck in bc Matt is a knight and he's also kindof a dumbass so she wants to look out for him

Pidge is heckin smart obviously and asks: "Hey what about dudes?"

Keith is dumbstruck. He'd never thought about it before.

Then he thinks about it.

"My dear friend, I have reason to believe you might like dudes."

Keith's a blushing mess but looks at Pidge and says: "I think... I think you may be right..."

K: "What do I do?! How am I ever going to meet the right guy if I can only ever be seen flirting with chicks?!"

Thus is born the Ball.

P: "Throw a bigass Ball for the whole kingdom and sneak away with a hot guy who's also into guys. Simple."

K: "NOT SIMPLE!! ....but you may be onto something..."

So they plan to throw a Ball and invite the whole kingdom.

They obviously tell Shiro, because Shiro is awesome and also a raging homosexual.

Poor Shiro's in the same boat

He is definitely NOT smitten with his butler Adam. Who also happens to be a badass knight.

He's 100% on board and they convince their parents to let them host a Ball so they can get to know their citizens and form a good relationship with their kingdom.

Krolia and Texas agree, because obviously Texas was just gonna go with whatever his badass amazing wife Queen said, and she's awesome so she said yes, so then they get to planning and it's awesome.

More on Texas and Krolia: Texas is born into the royal family, Krolia was a general in their army. Texas fell in love with Krolia, and thankfully she returned his feelings bc he was absolutely head over heels for this wonderful woman. She might have also been very smitten with the big hearted young prince. They got married and had Shiro then Keith. They're very good to their people and Texas has always had a great relationship with his kingdom. He loves and cares for all of them very much. He does his best to assure everyone is employed, housed, fed, and doing well in general. He spends a lot of his spare time in the villages helping his people. Krolia allows this because she's always been better at handling diplomatic things, so it's a win-win for the both of them and they're both very happy with their jobs. It's a very good kingdom bc I said rights for the royals and they made good decisions for their people.

Anyways,

Keith, Pidge, and Shiro decide on a masquerade ball so that it'll be easier for them to sneak away.

The plan is set and they begin preparations.

Shiro decides he's finally going to confess his love to Adam at the ball once they can slip away from the crowd.

Pidge, having lived in the village nearby, had some connections to the common folk and can make her special preparations under the radar of the castle's staff

Coran, Allura, and Hunk are witches in the same coven as Pidge, so that's exactly who she goes to for advice.

Coran & Allura's backstory: Coran is an eccentric older Man who was secretly the lover of Alfor, a witch and healer in the village. Allura is Alfor's daughter. Coran is the only parent she's ever known because her mother died in childbirth (which is why Alfor began practicing witchcraft and healing, so that no one else had to share his pain of losing someone to misfortune) and Alfor was hanged for witchcraft when Allura was too young to remember him. Coran, being Allura's godfather and therefore next of kin, adopted her and claimed to know nothing of Alfor's participation with witchcraft. He raised her and taught her about magic and the good it can bring and to stay away from the dark magic.

Pidge decides to make Keith a good luck charm to ease his nerves about the whole ordeal.

Hunk decides he's going to do the same thing for his closest friend, who is excited and nervous about attending the ball.

Can you guess who that is? Let's backtrack for a minute.

Lance is a peasant and lives with his bigass family who love him very much. They're all tailors.

But he's a closeted raging bisexual who happens to love dresses and makeup and men just as much as the next maiden

He can't always show his love of fashion, which sucks.

His mother knows her son's vanity well, and buys him a pair of simple silver earrings for his birthday about two years ago

It's his favorite thing that he owns and he hasn't taken them off since his mother pieced his ears for him on his 17th birthday

He's ecstatic when his family receives the invitation letter.

It states that all members of the household are welcome and encouraged to attend the Royal Masquerade Ball hosted by the Princes. The Queen and King will be in attendance as well, and the royal family is beyond ecstatic to welcome the kingdom into their home for a night of dancing and fun.

Hell yeah, Lance loves dressing up and dancing and fun

Lance also lo- ADMIRES- ahem. Yes. Admires the younger prince very much.

He's quiet and kindof mysterious and broody, but something about that just does it for Lance

Lance is determined to capture the prince's attention. He's had his fair share of crushes, but he's never felt his heartstrings pulled like he does when it comes to Prince Keith.

Lance assumes Prince Keith is probably straight (thank you, heteronormativity) and decides to go to Hunk for help with his crazy idea.

Hunk loves and supports Lance, even when he's being crazy, and goes along with it.

And Hunk is a witch. So he's gonna work his magic on Lance.

In preparation for the ball, Hunk and Lance spend hours practicing the spell and getting Lance's measurements right.

Hunk (and his family and his lovely girlfriend Shay) is one of the caterers for the event.

There's no way the royal chefs would be able to prepare that much food, so a bunch of chefs from the kingdom stepped up to help

Lance's whole family is booked making outfits for other villagers too. Of course they save time to make their own outfits as well.

Lance has always loved being the center of attention so his outfit, his hair, everything has to be perfect.

Hunk agrees that his best friend is going to outshine even the royal family

He's so proud of his bestie and so happy to help him like how Lance helped him with Shay (long story short, Lance is the best wingman ever) and Hunk wants to return the favor)

Lance makes himself a gorgeous blue tux for Hunk to enchant so he looks equally as stunning when the magic inevitably wears off.

Remember that good luck charm mentioned earlier? Hunk decides to give Lance luck from head to toe, so he gifts Lance with a silver hairpiece encrusted with sapphires to match prized silver earrings, and heels made of Opal.

Lance is awestruck and cries to Hunk about how he's the best man in the whole world ("I'd marry you myself if I could, Hunk. Seriously, Shay might just have to share." XD)

i have been meaning to put some grocery shopping headcanons out there… so here u go (plenty more beneath the cut as well):

-when keith and lance are falling in love and in their honeymoon phase with each other, they jump at the opportunity to go grocery shopping together because a) they wanna spend every moment with each other, and b) it’s domestic af and it makes them feel like they Have Something

-once they’ve been together a while, the novelty wears off and the laziness kicks in and they both try to find increasingly ridiculous ways to get the other person to go shopping without them

-keith usually goes for willful/feigned ignorance: “what kind of toothpaste did you say you wanted?” like 4 separate times, and then “idk they all look the same to me, i usually just grab whatever” and when lance inevitably goes on a tirade about the importance of his Very Specific brand and flavor, keith concludes with a “maybe you should buy it in person if you want to be sure you get the right one”

-lance’s tactic neglects logos and instead relies on pathos: “keeeith i am so tired” “keeeith my toes are still so cold from the walk home” “i promise i’ll go next time keith pleeeaase kosmo is in my lap and he’s so comfy look at him keith look. we are having a bonding moment keith dont interrupt us”

-when lance REALLY wants something Very Specific and is genuinely worried that keith will mess it up, he will give in to keith’s strategy and just go shopping himself, but 90% of the time keith is a Weak man and lance always gives him a big toothy grin and a kiss whenever he agrees so honestly you can’t blame him

-also it gives him a chance to restock his emergency midnight snack lunchables stash without lance giving him the “you are a grown man and my mamá gave me so many good recipes for us to try out and yet you choose to bring this under our roof” lecture (even though keith is sure that he bought 5 packs last time and only ate 3 of them but now their pantry is mysteriously devoid of lunchables, which means somebody in this house is lying about their disdain for lunchables)

-but ANYWAY sometimes they still actually do go to the store together just like old times and when they do:

-taking turns doing the thing where you run and put your weight on the back of the shopping cart and let it glide-(getting caught doing exactly that by an employee and being told off for it after they nearly knock over a chef boyardee can display)

-choosing an item on the list that they have no idea where to find & racing each other to see who can find it first

-“do you see this toothpaste keith. do you see this? can you see the name? can you read the flavor? you see how it says ‘for sensitive teeth’? do you see it?”-“considering you are practically shoving it down my throat, yes.”-“well then maybe your esophagus will be able to remember it for you next time you go shopping”

-keith grabbing the last pack of rainbow gold fish bc they are his favorite-toddler wanted those goldfish & starts crying-”ah shit fuck hey hey hey uhhh” cue keith turning a desperate look toward lance bc he Does Not Know how tf to handle small crying child-lance is like “dude, baby, sweetheart, my man, just give him the goldfish we can get the regular ones”-but keiths like?? bitch?? i got these first?? also im gay and these are my pride fish?? dont be homophobic-lance is about to argue with him abt it but then the kid’s mom gets involved and is like “how could you make my baby cry he’s just a kid let him have his goldfish dont be selfish”-you’ve activated Protective Lance mode-“um okay first of all, rude, keith got them first. second of all, this isnt even healthy for your kid. THIRD of all these are rainbow colored and keith is gay so maybe dont be homophobic??”-things escalate and keith and lance nearly throw down with karen and little jimmy in the snack aisle-they savor every last one of those fucking rainbow goldfish later that night, just out of pure gay spite

-lance spending several minutes inspecting individual broccoli stalks meticulously to make sure they buy only the very best-he narrows it down to two but keeps debating between them until keith comes up behind him and slumps against his back, wrapping his arms around lance’s waist and muttering something about how cold the produce aisle is-lance makes a snarky comment about keith being a whiny baby & keith retaliates by slipping his freezing fingers under lance’s shirt, prompting a startled yelp and giving keith the opportunity to pluck a broccoli stalk from lance’s hand and put it in the cart

-“okay, while we’re here, let’s grab a cucumber for the salad”-“gotcha, one cucumber coming right up–.. hey.. hey, keith, this one kinda looks like a–hehehe–hey keith, do you think i could–hnnkeehehe–do you think i could fit this one up–”-“oh my god”-“what do you say keith–you, me, this cucumber, a bottle of wine–”-“alright im getting on line.”-“wait wait babe im kidding come back let me put the cucumber in the cart”-“NO go get a different one, i am NOT letting that one anywhere near our salad”

-selfies with the local Stop & Shop robot. lance thinks it’s kind of creepy but keith thinks it’s cute and lance thinks that’s cute, so

-“lance we left the reusable bags in the car”-“quiznak. well that’s okay, we can just use plastic bags this one time and i’ll make sure we put them to good use at home so it’s not wastefu–”-“no. we paid money for our bags. we have to use them. i’ll be right back”-“keith we parked way down on the other side of the–oh my god KEITH WATCH OUT FOR THAT OLD LADY holy shit SLOW DOWN oh my god man”

-keith tries to sneak those storebought sugar cookies, you know the clear-boxed ones that they always put out front with holiday-colored frosting and sprinkles, into their cart-“keith what is with your obsession with processed food”-“it was all had to eat when i was living alone in the desert”---“baby that is very sad and you know i empathize with your tragic anime backstory but put those godawful abominations back or so help me”

-only, keith isn’t the only one who likes processed food

-yeah, another reason keith is so used to it is because even after he started living with shiro, he kept eating that junk because that’s all shiro ever ate too

-shiro is a slut for kraft mac & cheese

-this presents a problem for him and adam, because adam loves spicy food and loves to make spicy food for shiro to eat

-but shiro is a big baby, and due to his inability to cook and his subsequent reliance on kraft & campbell’s & top ramen, he basically has white people taste buds

-adam is scandalized when he learns this the hard way after finding shiro nearly in tears over his half-eaten serving of dum aloo

-adam promptly declares that shiro needs a culinary intervention and they have been working towards the recovery of his palate ever since

-shiro is a creature of habit though, and he will try to convince adam to let them buy kraft mac & cheese whenever they go to the store together (which is often because unlike keith and lance, they never got tired of it and they still consider it a romantic domestic activity to this day. they’re just gay like that)

-when keith and shiro have their “broganights” together they indulge in all their crappy processed comfort food, much to the consternation of lance and adam, who bond over their shared exasperation and begrudging affection for their respective partners

we start our story with the conflict already in progress- aliens have invaded the Earth! they call themselves the Galra, and the only thing standing in their way is a team of mysterious heroes with elemental powers known as the Paladins

no one knows their identities but they’re viewed as heroes by the people of Plaht City who seem to suffer a disproportionate number of attacks by said aliens, which... rude.

actually just kidding there’s one person who knows their identities and his name is Adam

Adam has known for awhile that his fiancee is the black paladin, mostly because shiro just straight up told him almost right after becoming a paladin bc communication is the key to a healthy relationship

allura, the alien princess who granted all the paladins their powers is slightly less than thrilled with this, but adam is tight-lipped so she gets over it pretty quick

allura says that she came to earth in pursuit of the galra who caused untold devastation to her home planet and she would like earth to avoid that fate

upon arriving, she immediately found four humans to grant powers to- shiro, lance, hunk, and pidge

shiro controls wind, lance controls water, hunk controls the earth and pidge has power over plants. allura is also a paladin and has light-based powers and is the white paladin!!

tbh there’s a big sentai vibe in this even tho I don’t watch sentai... it’s the precure influence again

you might notice there’s a paladin missing from that lineup

which brings us back to adam who one day gets involved in a dicey situation between what’s clearly a runaway teen and the cops one day and blurts out a lie that this runaway kid he’s never met in his life is actually living with him and his fiancee

and that’s how he brings keith home

yes. this is an au where adam is the one who brings home the surprise kid. it’s all about equality!!!

anyways adam’s like ‘shiro can we let this kid live with us’ and shiro’s like ‘yeah sure I don’t see how this could possibly go wrong’

Full disclosure, Keith had actually woken up about fifteen minutes ago. B-list action movies were the worst genre of film, as far as falling asleep in the middle of them went, and all it had taken was one (of several, he’d gleaned over the last quarter hour) car explosion too many to jolt him begrudgingly out of his slumber.

Still, he’d learned many years ago that if you fell asleep at the end of a movie, people usually didn’t expect you to help clean up after. And though the trick no longer worked with movie nights at home—not since Adam had moved in—it had worked like a charm with his new friends over the past few months. As the end credits rolled before his closed eyelids, the couch beneath him creaked under someone standing up with a yawn.

“Let’s draw a dick on his face,” Pidge muttered.

Never mind, Keith groaned internally, lamenting the loss of his sloth for the sake of his pride. He drew in a breath—

“Don’t.”

And let it go. It was almost a task to keep his slack expression from adopting a furrowed brow, because that was definitely—

“Just let him be.” The scrape of a plastic bowl on a wooden coffee table played harmony to Lance’s continued argument, the creak of the floorboards his percussion. “He deals with enough torture from us already.”

Hunk scoffed from his place on the recliner, the silence of a nonverbal communication hanging in the air before Lance’s footfalls echoed back into the room.

Lance clicked his tongue. “The things I do for him—and he’s never going to know,” he muttered.

“Probably ‘cause of how you act when he’s awake,” Hunk pointed out, the sharp click of the recliner locking back upright following suit.

“Yeah, well—” another wordless gesture, probably “—okay? I’m dealing with it the best I can.”

Keith almost rolled his eyes, figuring the vaguery was about as much reasoning as Lance could have for the continued tension between the two of them, despite Lance denouncing their purported (A.K.A. fabricated) rivalry some few weeks ago.

Until Pidge’s response, that is.

“So you’re not going to tell him?”

“I…” Lance’s voice lowered to a murmur. “You’re sure he’s asleep?”

He felt a scrutinous gaze against his skin, and he did his best to sell the slump in his body (the tension it gave him likely not helping his case, but it must’ve been enough for Pidge.)

She hummed assent. “He could sleep through the apocalypse, honest.”

“So?” Hunk prompted.

Lance sighed. “‘Course not.”

Keith bit his tongue. Could these assholes start being more specific? Or at least have the decency to leave the room so he could pretend to wake up without embroiling himself in this secret that he can’t even understand anyway?

Hunk gave a low whistle. “Never thought I’d live to see the day.”

“Does this mean loverboy Lance has hung up his bow and arrow?”

Keith’s heart kicked in his chest. Wait, loverboy? Did she mean…

“You said it yourself: it’d only freak him out if he knew—and I’m not going to do that to the group. ‘Sides, Keith needs us: his only other friends are his dog and brother-in-law, and Adam only counts on good days.” He laughed, but the others didn’t seem as eager to join in.

Hunk gave an uneasy sound. “I don’t know if Keith—”

“He would. Trust me—Pidge?”

“I…” She sighed. “I won’t say I’ve run the numbers, but it’s not exactly promising.”

“It’s not worth it,” Lance concluded. “Even if he’d stay, what’s the point? It’s not like I have a chance anyway.”

“Lance—”

“You’re going to tell me I’m a catch?” Lance interrupted, then laughed. “Please do; I need to hear it.”

Hunk joined in with a chuckle of his own. “If I didn’t have a girlfriend, I’d date you in a heartbeat.”

Lance’s hand thumped against his chest. “A man after my own heart. Pidge?”

She scoffed. “If I had to date anyone, I think you’d be one of the least offensive options out there.”

Empty beer bottles clinked against each other. “Oh, it’s an honour just to be nominated!”

“Y’need any help, bud?” Hunk called out after his retreating steps.

“Nah, you guys can head home; I got the rest of it.”

Hunk lowered his voice, clearly addressing Pidge. “Draw straws on who’s got to wake him up?”

“Just let him sleep,” Lance answered, his voice floating over the back of the couch now. “I’ll drive him home when he wakes up.”

“Ooh,” Pidge cooed, “want him all to yourself, do you?”

“Don’t want us to know how long you’re going to watch him sleep?”

“You—” Lance groaned. “I thought we were being nice to Lance tonight!”

“We were,” Pidge argued. “Hunk, we were nice, weren’t we?”

“Super nice,” Hunk agreed, “so now we get to be mean.”

“Ugh, you guys are the worst.” The couch complained as he pushed off, their voices echoing towards the front door. “Why do I tell you anything, again?”

“‘Cause we already know all of your other secrets,” Pidge replied. “You’re forced to trust us now.”

Lance sucked on his teeth. “Yeah, can’t have that shit leaked to the press.” The front door was wrenched open. “Love you, assholes.”

Hunk and Pidge’s goodbyes were a bit too quiet for Keith to discern, but soon after they were spoken, the front door slid shut, and Keith was insulated in the soft bubble of silence of Lance’s living room. He held his breath for Lance to step out of sightline long enough so he could feign rousing, practically celebrating when Lance’s footsteps led him back to the living room, hoping they’d keep on going to the kitchen.

The echo stilled, just as he reached the foot of the couch.

“Of course, you have to look adorable when you sleep, too,” he practically spat under his breath. Then he heaved a sigh, and continued to the kitchen.

The moment the sound transferred from hardwood to tile, Keith pushed himself up to sit. His stiff muscles complained, and he rolled out his shoulders as his eyes cracked open, taking in the gentle lamplight and distant kitchen light with squinted eyes. He yawned, elbows resting on his knees as he rubbed his fingers into his eyelids.

“Oh, you’re awake.”

Keith drew in his first full breath, turning to look over his shoulder as Lance walked back in from the kitchen. “Mm.” He cleared his throat, his voice still heavy with the sleep he hadn’t feigned earlier. He scanned the living room then as Lance passed the couch, picking up a couple empty soda cans from the coffee table. He remembered himself a little, and decided to ask, “Where’s Hunk and Pidge?”

He swore he saw Lance freeze for a split-second when he asked it, saw a tension in his shoulders dissipate when he looked Keith in the eye again. He gave an apologetic smile. “Yeah, Pidge didn’t want to wait ‘til you got up to drive you home.”

Keith almost felt uneasy under Lance’s gaze—his attention undivided in the low light, his expression soft and open, dare Keith even say fond. He had no business looking at him like that, not when Keith had just woken up, and probably had bedhead or—shit, did he? He ducked and smoothed his hair down with his hands, hoping it looked as casual as he’d envisioned it in his mind’s eye.

“Well, shit.”

“I know,” Lance laughed, leaning a hip against the far armrest, “typical Pidge, am I right? But I can drive you home, if you want.”

Keith chewed on his tongue. Should I tell him?

“Lance, listen.”

It would be easy. Keith wasn’t a good actor, anyway—and Shiro always said honesty was the best policy, especially with people you cared about.

“I heard what you guys were talking about before, and…”

And what? Keith didn’t have a good answer for him—he’d hardly believed Lance tolerated him as a friend, let alone adding the prospect of… other feelings.

“Keith?” He blinked, eyes refocusing and lifting back up to match Lance’s. Lance chuckled. “Thought you fell asleep on me again.”

“No, I…” He was far too tired to think this over properly, right now. And a ride home sounded much nicer than a half-hour walk in the cold. “Thanks.”

Lance gave him a smile that made his insides flip. “Cool. I’ll just—” He pushed off the couch. “—Let me chuck these in the kitchen, and we can go.”

“Sure.”

“Don’t fall asleep on me again, ‘kay?” He called back from the other room.

Keith rolled his eyes, pushing up to stand. “I can manage.”

Lance hummed uncertainly. “You sure? You were completely out of it during the movie—snoring and the whole bit.”

Keith froze mid-stretch, dropping his hands with an indignant pout. “I did not snore.”

“Did too.”

“I don’t snore!”

Lance rounded back into sight, waving his keys in front of him. “And somehow I heard it with my own ears. Funny how that works.”

He winked at Keith in passing, and Keith’s stomach flipped. He gave a quiet groan, hoping that reaction wouldn’t become the norm, in the wake of this unfortunate revelation—Lance was the one with the crush, after all.

Right?

He twisted his neck until it gave a satisfying pop, then smirked when Lance inevitably vocalised his disgust at it.

i did fem reader i’m sorry (they’ll probably be another one of the same exact story that’s posted after this that’s the male version bc i feel real bad for excluding those readers)

If there was one thing that Shiro loved more than the universe, it had to be his daughter. After coming back to Earth, he spent a lot of time by himself. Of course, he’d usually spend his days training with the MFE’s and training them into one of the best defenders of Earth. He’d also go out and talk to some children about the Galaxy Garrison and why it’s a good place to join. But after all of that, Shiro spent his nights alone, either busing himself with paperwork or training to keep his mind off of things. He always convinced himself that he didn’t have time for anything else.

His continuous volunteering at elementary schools to supply them with information about the Garrison had him questioning why he was even going there in the first place. With his position as captain, he could very well have any other officer under his rank do this task rather than him, but he refused to let anyone else go. Watching all of the kids looking at him in amazement as he told stories about his space travels made him realize that there was something missing in his life. Of course, before, with Adam, they’d planned to adopt kids after they got married, but that plan never happened. Shiro thought that he was only thinking about kids because of his partner, but he never realized that he would actually want children himself. 

So after a tedious adoption process, making sure that he wasn’t a criminal or anyone dangerous, he was finally put onto the list. That list in itself made him rather anxious, as he couldn’t wait to adopt a kid. Finally, after months and months of waiting rather impatiently, Shiro was finally allowed to adopt. Instead of adopting a baby like most folks did, he decided that he had no idea on how to take care of something so little so he decided to adopt a little girl, who was only seven.  Her name was Alice, and from that day forward, she was the most important person in his life. 

It was fair to say that everyone in the Garrison was used to Alice’s presence by the second week. Shiro refused to put Alice in daycare and would send harsh glares at anyone who questioned why a little girl was in the captain’s office. Of course, there were days when Alice would get restless and Shiro would let her go and run around with the supervision of Keith, who was less than thrilled about taking care of of kid, even if it was just for a few minutes. Most of the time she would stay inside his office, talking his ear off about anything and everything.

“—and then we went to the training room where I saw auntie Allura flip uncle Keith!”

Shiro smiled at his daughter, a fond look on his face. “Wow sweetheart, you weren’t near them, were you?”

She shook her head, a pout forming on her face. “No, uncle Keith said that I had to stay by the wall.”

Shiro huffed out a laugh, finishing off the last of his paperwork. “Well, he was probably making sure that you wouldn’t get hurt when they were sparring.”

“What’s sparring?” 

“It’s like play fighting. You don’t actually try to hurt each other, you just try to work on your skills.”

Alice made a face. “Auntie Allura seemed like she was hurting uncle,”

Shiro laughed wholeheartedly at that, fixing his desk before going to pick Alice up. “Well, don’t tell auntie Allura this, but she’s too strong for her own good.”

Shiro felt his smile growing larger at the sound of his daughter’s giggling. As they were heading back home Shiro decided to bring up a new topic: “So, are you ready to start school tomorrow?”

Alice nodded her head enthusiastically, wiggling a bit in his grip. “Yeah! I wanna make friends!”

The rest of the drive home consisted of Alice excitedly talking about going to school the next day. Takashi “Golden Boy” Shirogane was so thankful for having a kid who liked school.

The next day was the first time that Shiro had ever taken a day off. When he called in, telling Iverson that he wouldn’t be in, Iverson immediately began to question him. He asked whether or not Shiro was sick, if someone died, if Shiro died again and Allura resurrected him. 

After about ten minutes of assuring Iverson that, no, he wasn’t sick, and no, no one had died, he went to check up on his daughter, who was currently getting dressed for school. Knocking on the door, he called for her:

“Hey, sweetheart, you almost done? We’ll be late!”

At the sound of his voice Alice opened the door, a gigantic grin on her face. “Let’s go!”

Tugging her father’s hand, she ran towards the door, eliciting a laugh from Shiro. Once they were in the car, Alice kept telling Shiro about how excited she was to start school, and that she couldn’t wait to meet her teacher. 

Fifteen minutes later and they finally made it to the school. Getting out of the car, he moved to open the door for Alice, helping her out of it. Locking the car, he took her hand in his, allowing himself to be pulled along to the entrance.

“Do you know who your teacher is?” Shiro asked, looking around at the first grade section of the building.

“Ms. (y/l/n)!” Alice said happily. 

Shiro nodded his head, walking over towards the first grade classrooms and looking at the name tags. He finally reached a door with little birds surrounding a name tag reading “Ms. (y/l/n)’s First Grade Class”. Walking inside the class he was greeted by twenty or so little kids jumping around while the parents were huddled in a corner. He let go of Alice’s hand, kneeling down to meet her eyes.

“Go and make some friends, okay? I’ll go talk to your teacher,”

Alice nodded, skipping away to talk to some of her classmates. Standing back up, Shiro brushed his shirt off and scanned the room, looking for the teacher. When he finally found the teacher, he felt himself freeze.

Yes, Shiro may have come in contact with an Altean princess who was extremely gorgeous, and yes, he’s also met many alien men who were also exceptionally attractive, but he doesn’t think that they could compare to you. 

You were currently getting some things in order on your desk, your glasses slipping down your nose slightly. Seeing how you were flustered with the amount of kids in your room only added to your attractiveness. There was a sort of domestic aura that you omitted that made Shiro want to get to know you. Walking over to you, he cleared his throat to gain your attention.

“Hey, sorry to bother you, I just wanted to introduce myself. I’m Takashi Shirogane, Alice Shirogane’s dad.”

You looked at him for a second, momentarily dazed by how attractive he was, before shaking his hand. “(y/n) (y/l/n), it’s a pleasure to meet you,” Letting go of his hand, you pointed at him, brows furrowing slightly, “Aren’t you from the Garrison?”

Shiro nodded his head, flushing slightly. “Ah, yeah. I’m the captain of the Atlas,”

Your eyes widened in realization. Pushing back your hair you frantically tried to look “presentable”. “I’m so sorry, I’m just a little frazzled—“

“That’s alright,” Shiro laughed, rubbing the back of his neck, “It’s the first day of school, everyone’s freaking out.”

You nodded your head, a sheepish smile on your face. Taking a deep breath, you calmed yourself. “Well, if you have any questions, feel free to ask. Today we allow the parents to stay in the class, to get an understanding of what we’ll be doing,” You pointed towards the corner of parents, “Parents sit over there.”

Shiro nodded his head, a smile of his face. “Alright, thank you.”

Once he left, you let out a huge sigh. Looking at the clock, you readied yourself, starting the class off.

“Good morning class!”

“So how was your first day?” Shiro asked, holding his daughters hand while walking out to the car.

“Amazing!” Alice squealed, “I met so many friends today! And Ms. (y/l/n) is so nice!”

Shiro nodded his head, a smile creeping onto his face at the thought of you. Buckling Alice in, he got into the drivers seat, looking at her through the rear view mirror.

“Hey Alice, can you keep a secret?”

That seemed to catch her attention, as she nodded rapidly, an excited look on her face. Shiro sighed, a content look on his face.

“I think I have a crush on Ms. (y/l/n),”

Alice gasped, her hands flying to her mouth. “What?”

Shiro put a finger to his lips, making a quiet “shh” noise. “You can’t tell anyone though,” Thinking back to your flustered state, he grinned, “But I think she’s very cute.”

Alice squealing in the backseat made Shiro’s smile grow in size. Sighing, he kept his eyes on the road and prayed that Alice wouldn’t say anything to you about it. He was debating on whether or not it was a good idea on telling his young daughter about his secret crush on the teacher.

It was not a good idea to tell Alice about his crush on you. The next morning Shiro woke Alice up and started their day by making her pancakes, then dressed in his uniform. After breakfast Alice was ready to go to school. Hopping into the car, Shiro quickly, but safely, drove them to the school, just like yesterday.

Once they were there, Shiro went to help Alice out of the car and walked her to your class, and that’s when Shiro regretted his life choices.

“Ms. (y/l/n)!” Alice quickly rushed over towards you, a gigantic smile on her face.

You leaned down, smiling as you greeted her. “Good morning, Alice. You seem excited.”

She nodded her head. “I need to tell you something, but you need to promise that you’ll keep it a secret!”

She held out her pinkie finger, and Shiro’s gut dropped to the floor. You laughed, entwining your pinkie with her’s. “Alright, what’s up?”

“My dad told me he has a crush on you.”

You raised an eyebrow, looking at the extremely embarrassed man behind her. “Is that so?”

She nodded her head. You smiled, patting her on the shoulder. “Why don’t you go and talk to the other students?”

Alice chirped in agreement, running off to see some of her friends. Standing back up, you crossed your arms, a smirk finding its way onto your face.

“So,” You started, “A crush, you say?”

He turned away from you, his face starting to heat up. “Yeah, you can ignore what she said.”

You tilted your head in confusion for a second, before walking over to your desk and scribbling something on a piece of paper. Tearing the piece off, you handed it to him, a smile on your face.

“Well Mr. Shirogane, I know that you’re a busy man, so I won’t keep you here. But when you want to tell me about your little ‘secret’, call me.”

With that, you walked over to the group of students, ushering them to their assigned seats. Shiro looked down at the tiny piece of paper, smiling at the numbers that stretched across it. Looking at you one last time, he walked out of the class, tucking the small paper into his uniform pocket.

He couldn’t wait until his shift was over.

THE QUEST FOLLOWS UNDER THE CUT 

SOME ALLURA BACKSTORY

The real deal is that the gods have gone radio silent to the romans FOR A LONG TIME long enough for praetors allura and lotor ( an apollo son btw) to worry too much what if they did something so wrong the gods take retaliation or something? truth is also that saturn (roman chronos) have been using this need to keep the camp jupiter running to poisoning lotors mind to get it against the gods for abandoning them and the usual demigod sad stuff… thats why he convinced allura to go look for the gods since she is so good with the mist and stuff while he stays…and basically reigns. But all in “”good heart””. 

Reah sees this and its like oh no, and when she founds Allura she immediately loves her and sees in her the way to not let saturn break the spirit of her grandchildren since he is basically instigating the hate from the demigods to their parents (and other demigods maybe??). she sees in allura a way to not repeat the same saturn family breaker story that is happening with lotor going against the gods. so she is the one who transports allura to camp half blood , actually the one that leads her is a big ass lion but cyclops attack them and he dies defending allura and it is so sad (then revealed by reah that such is the circle of life and the lion reincarnated in a cub who is going to be allura’s but bear with me) but she saw on allura the energy to face the patriarchal oppression against saturn and lotor in camp jupiter. BUT she fails on telling Allura that Lotor is the one behind everything, since Reah thinks/knows that Allura still dont have the support system to go against Lotor herself…because of romantic feelings.

ALSO, Lotor despises Apollo for knowing things and still letting them happen while with the help of the gods a lot of terrible things can be avoided, couldnt they?  but he would never refuse to use any kind of power, which makes apollo think he is important enough to lotor. Still,  that’s why he is siding with chronos. 

ANYWAY

Allura is at chb, and when she wakes up all repaired thanks to apollo cabin magic and she remembers Reah asking her to not reveal the other camp and making her swear over the river styx. so, she cant tell them there about the other camp bc if they expose themselves probably chronos is gonna go after them too and bye new greek allies. Anyway, Allura explains that in California *wink wonk* mount othrys has been appearing slowly and it only means chornos is  kind of waking up  and it can only happen bc some…demigods (lotor and the romans but she cant tell) are siding with chornos.

 BUT she goes with the legal void of just saying demigods who never made it to chb. But keith is like intense staring at her and  why that  SPQR on her shirt…that is obviously roman like on his coin but after all romans where kind of related to greeks ?? he need to know more about this. and while he is basically interrogating Allura about this and she is avoiding his questions Lance kind of confuses this in Keith being interested in Allura and OH NO.

And shiro is all like, rough demigods? I knew some of those at the gladiator thing in the labyrinth so he is gonna help allura because he is sick and tired of demigods putting themselves at risk because the gods are never clear to them and he feels mildly responsible since it is usually zeus rules the ones that fuck demigods more… so he is going with Allura.Keith jumps at the opportunity of getting away from his latent crush on Lance AND know more about this roman jargon Allura slips while talking and that means  he gets to do TWO things at once!The new quest trio ( shiro allura and keith)are ready to go sooner than pidges who still needs some preparations and now Lance is all….what cha mean Keith AND Allura..are both going and he is all confused because he is caring too much about it. Is he Jealous? of….?? Keith maybe? of course it is of keith! since he is NOT into him, and if Allura, the wonderful mysterious and powerful new demigod who saved them from the cyclops, goes with Keith, monster slayer and extremely capable hero… she probably will end up liking Keith (because who wouldn’t like keith and his cool moves) 

And when they are partying and pidge is still asking Shiro all the details he can remember about the matt last whereabouts and hunk is basically asking for all the tips on NOT dying on a quest and Lance is into interrupting ANY Keith-Allura interaction , the six of them are basically walking to the edge of camp  but when they all suddenly feel in the forest in their way out is when they get a prophecy of dodona (thank you garnny Reah) along the lines  that the six of them were to go IMMEDIATELY because in like a week Mt Osyris will be at its strongest and thats when there would not be gong back, that both quest were actually one and the same and only finding the missing family member they will get  there.

they are like oh yes the missing one is matt, OBVIOUSLY, And well, six is not an unlucky number for quests….but Keith is like NO - bc he dont want to spend time worrying about certain inexperienced in quests demigods -, pidge is like YES because that means finding her brother with more help.  hunk is like NO this means more problems and danger , Lance is like HELL YES i get to go with allura and keep an eye on keith so he doesn’t get all the glory and the girl. Allura just want to go and wonders why greeks cant follow simple orders, But Shiro is just “CHILDREN LISTEN, we aint separating. not for our lives. we are only strong in numbers”And team voltron parts immediately to the place hunk has traced technology like shiro’s who coincides with the last place shiro saw Matt: Arizona

BONUS OF THE CERBERUS QUEST (Shiro Matt and Adam failed quest)

Matt had to get back cerberus bc some demigods took him and Persephone wasn’t getting any of that so she went for “who is the brightest demigod so he can bring back my dog instead of me telling my husband”  and  That’s how the trio went directly to hell/the Hades. since they had to start looking somewhere.

Adam is an Hermes child, having a sword power and can know when shit are traps who only went on this quest because Shiro insisted on also going and he had a really bad feeling about it.  his relation ship with Hermes is hermes going all “no dont do that my boy” and adam going “what if i do anyway” but hermes respect he is so straightforward.Matt is an Athena son, who wasn’t too sure about going on a quests until he wanted to graduate from camp demonstrating to his sister that demigods have bright futures out there. 

how did the three brightest and oldest demigods in camp half blood got themselves lost, probably dead and separated?

On their way there shiro and adam get on each other nerves to the point when they both say  “i will do it my way”. Adam is all there is something is deeply wrong with this quest LISTEN TO ME we gotta NOT do this, but Shiro is there for proving this quest successful,Matt is just in the middle… but at the end chooses shiro bc he wants to be the prove of a future for pidgey. And then they get separated in the underworld, never getting to cerberus.Shiro> A zeus child is the best way to get any revenge on zeus and all the gods represent and he is forced to fight in the gladiator arena against monsters and demigods alike, losing an arm.

Matt > ended up in the labyrinth alone passing doors avoiding any kind of evil demigods and creatures without much of a physical fight  bc he is bright that way.  discovering much more stuff about the demigods away from camp and only wants  to see his sister again

Adam> got himself into tartarus because he is unlucky that way

Something tells me they wont dispose of her right away. And they in turn are not sure he is alive. --When Allura is being harsh to Keith about his Galran heritage, he pulls her over and explains to her the past of Earth similar to her background, but that hating doesn’t solve anything. what is important is to love others for who they are, not their ethnic background. He even brings up the evil Alteans, that no one is all pure and no one is all evil.  --When one of the evil altean sentry’s almost shot lance (but sven jumped in), Allura hears and checks up on him, going all healer mode. Same with sven (altean magic biiiiissshhhh where wAS IT THE REST OF THE SEASONS IM DISTRAUGHT) --Lance doesn’t really flirt with the mermaids in season 2 and when plaxum goes to kiss him on the mouth he gets distracted and she gets his cheek --Lance: O_O surprised but also going “why do am I not a fan of that??? I should be? @ God explain” --When Lance unlocks his sword bayard she teaches him all sorts of sword techniques since Keith is gone and when Keith does return, the two of them teach him. Allura demonstrates with Keith so Lance can analyze and Keith most of the time doesn’t react to Allura “attacking” and touching him bc again, ACE AS FUQ. --Lance: Man I wish that were me Allura: *literally flings Keith across the room with one well planned kick to the solar plexus* Lance: Man I wish that were me --Lance at Keith: I need relationship advice Keith mcfucking knife kogane: what’s a relationship Lance: God I need to set you up on dates. What about that acxa chick Keith: nah I’m good *goes back to book* --Lance at hunk: i need relationship advice Hunk: say no more *whips out countless of poetry and song lists for lance to use to wooTM Allura* --When lotor comes in fuck jealousy. Fuck it I hate the jealousy trait so Lance is sitting there, seeing them interact, and is confused as to why it slightly hurts but he is willing to let go --When you love someone so much you see them happy with someone else, you let them go bc you care about their happiness more than forcing a happy ending for yourself (cue more langst rip SHE LIKES YOU YOU SILLY BOY) --While I am a lotura shipper since this is strictly Allurance rewrite, Lotor is ace as fuq and sees Allura as a friend and she in turn thinks the same thing --As they are looking into alchemy and shit they stumble upon Honerva’s entry on Zarkon and her growing affection of him and Allura is like “Love is both beautiful and chaotic Lotor: Maybe, but it is what warms the heart and sparks endless passion Allura: Do you love anyone? Lotor: I love my generals. Not romantically, but they are my family. Allura: What is romantic love like? Lotor: That, my dear, is something you must find out on your own. Alchemy can only take you so far. Allura: *crISIS* -When Allura saved Lance from death’s grasp she is checking on him like, every hour  “Allura I’m okay” Allura: you dIED Lance: But your sweet talking brought me back to life *cue goofy grin* Allura: I don’t know if I should smack you or kiss you Lance: What Allura: whAT --Fuck the fight with Lotor bc they are now best friends and allura goes to him for advice and gossip and be like “what is this feeling so sudden and new” --Lotor: :3 --Lance one night is walking around the castle with his face mask on and runs into Allura and she sCREECHES “WHAT IS THAT” “IT’S A FACE MASK” “WHY IS IT EATING YOUR FACE OH MY GOD LANCE TAKE IT OFF” *Cue Lance informing her of what a face mask is and, when he removes it, she can’t stop stroking his cheeks and he’s livingTM) -They have a night of talking about their families and Lance putting a face mask on her to help her skin and braids her hair. It soothes her from all the stress she has been dealing, especially as a diplomat and paladin of voltron. --Hunk even made them altean brownies in the shape of hearts awwww --They fall asleep next to each other and the mice inbetween them --They were spooning until fucking pidge barges into Allura’s room and stARTS PLAYING THE HORN TO WAKE THEM UP PIDGE WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS --They scream, I scream, we all scream bc pidge is a shit --They don’t kiss in season 8 no no no they actually kiss in like, season 5 or 6 as the finale and it’s under the stars in the castle and all pretty and despite my bitterness over the red and blue and pink stars being completely thrown out the window, the blue and pink stars glow -three words: Space Mall Date --He gets her something sparkly at said mall or on earth and she marvels over it.  --On earth he gets her a rose quartz necklace and she loves it and never takes it off. She tucks it under her armor and when Coran advises it would be best to take it off she refuses  --When they crash land on earth after honerva’s fucking weird ass altean mech attacked for like, two episodes, Lance is sleeping by Allura’s side bc he woke up first and when she wakes up she pats his head. --She frames his drawing what do you mean it isn’t nice it is pure ART --Lance makes her another tiara as a replica of the one she sacrificed for Shiro. He gets Shiro’s help in finding the perfect stone to resemble the one she gave Shiro --It sparkles. Cue brownie points --They get in like, one argument and its about who the space mice are traveling with when they were in the voidTM --Lance doesn’t know how to dance but Shiro and hunk teach him so he can woo the socks off Allura --There is a ball episode. She enters in a beautiful dress and Lance is pure mush holy shit thats mY GIRLFRIEND --She even hAS THE NECKLACE HE GAVE HER RATHER THAN THE DIAMOND ONES ROMELLE FOUND OOF --Allura? Dying?? No the lions are sacrificed or there is no sacrifice at all bc Honerva alone should have been the one to have died only, not Allura. Dying is Dumb. --The alteans see through Honerva’s lies and actually overthrow her and Allura takes over the Altean colony because she deserves to be with her people and get to know them and yes that is her human boyfriend what about it. --They have a pretty wedding and she has juniberries as her bouquet. Shiro catches it. Adam isn’t dead bc like I said DYING IS DUMB. --They rule new altea together and explore the universe and help other planets learn to be independent and no longer used to Galra control. They help find proper galra diplomats (like the blades and kolivan and krolia and Keith) --They still have to fight the living supporters of Sendak bc the fires of purification yea what happened to them did they die --Peace is a long road for them but they achieve their dreams, love each other, and have fantastic friends  --side note lotor still not dead bc again he is a diplomat for both alteans and galrans and is as valuable as Allura is with diplomacy

basically this post i made expanded on bc i started thinking about a lot of other stuff that couldn’t fit into the neat meme format

hell fucking yeah lance finally gets some recognition because there’s still that suspended disbelief of “oh this kid used to be a cargo pilot, c’mon, it has to be a fluke” and then he’s out here, flying the red lion like it’s his business (because it is) and they’re like “well shit”

maybe lance still gets the altean marks because allura brought him back to life and the exposure to raw quintessence in haggar’s mind calls them up which i’m really only adding bc i think he looks pretty and keith probs likes smooching them ;;;)

so we have this awkward one year where the defenders of the universe attend some of the garrison classes because they still need the credits to graduate before they can actually start working sjfmv

iverson: actually before you can take the position, you need to officially receive your garrison diploma

lance: yall deadass?

it’s a trainwreck when they have to take math with adam and he actually makes keith sit in the corner at one point for chucking a piece of paper at pidge

lance becomes a teacher because he never wants someone to feel the way he did in school and despite the fact he’s still sort of insecure about the fact he doesn’t think he’s the smartest, he wants to inspire people the way shiro inspired him because of how much having a role model like that meant to him

keith becomes a teacher part-time because he gets to still be around his family in that position and it is understood he has to go away sometimes for the blade’s relief missions

they’re grossly in love and everybody knows it, captain shirogane and professor wahaba all over again, and they know when professor garret subs in for prof kogane then prof mcclain’s gonna need some cheering up so everybody does their best to make him smile bc he’s one of the favorite teachers in the garrison

or on the flip side when the cadets don’t want to do anything in lance’s class, they just get him to start talking about keith and the periods blow by

yes knowledge of both the teacher power couples is common and yes kl and adashi absolutely say they don’t care about what people say but if u think they arent constantly duking it out for cutest couple in the garrison then ur sorely mistaken my guy

lance, bursting into adam’s class with a giant fucking bouquet of roses and a teddy bear with huge bow that says for my perfect fiancee: oh sorry did i get the wrong room?? :)))

adam gets matching mugs for he and shiro the next day that say i have the best husband in the galaxy and he sips his coffee very loudly in the teacher’s lounge it’s great

hunk eventually becomes a garrison engineer full time but pidge, though teching for the garrison half the time, never really has a set job. she just like. bounces around to the next big technical breakthrough to learn as much as she can and matt’s basically the same thing except he does stay pretty consistently at the garrison.

they want to find ways to incorporate all the technology they saw in space into earth tech but earth’s still a long way to go

pidge, walking into the mall: where are. the robots.

matt: alienss? hello???? anliens???? 

the alteans visit often but more often than not it’s just romelle and coran because allura has so much more responsibility

when she does come, it’s usually a surprise, punctuated by her interrupting lance’s class and tackling him in a hug

queue the entire class going apeshit as professor mcclain is picked up and swung around by queen allura of altea while they both squeal at the top of their lungs

keith and lance do live in the garrison but krolia stays in the shack with kosmo, mostly doing maintenance on the house and starting a small garden alongside the patch of flowers behind it to keep herself occupied when she’s not helping organize the blade’s relief missions from there

everybody goes on that sunday for their weekly dinners, though, and they bring the dining table out on the front lawn because they can’t all fit inside

if not physically present, allura, coran, and romelle appear via video call

they just catch up with each other 

despite everything, they’re all happy with where they ended up

I love shallura. I think shiro and allura's personalities compliment each other really well. But I wouldn't have let myself get so emotionally invested in the ship over the past two years if I knew shiro was gay from the start. I know they said they'd leave his orientation open to interpretation, but gay is going to be the go-to assumption for most people, leading to accusations of homophobia towards shallura. It just seems... irresponsible? of the writers to drop the revaluation this late.

gonna unpack this, bc there’s… a lot here.

“if I knew shiro was gay from the start” shiro can be bi or pan or gayace. and why can he be? see next point

(further more, shiro being mlm does not detract or change his conceviably romantic relationship with allura. bi and pan people exist too! queerness doesn’t change anything about shiro, especially in the shallura fandom where seeing him as mlm was very common, and shiro’s queerness is not dependent on the gender of the partner he’s with, nor if he’s by himself)

“i know they said they’d leave his orientation open to interpretation” they didn’t say they were going to. they said it, plan and simple, the fans can see what they want to see, and be represented in shiro in whatever way fits them, upon being asked about shiro and adam’s sexual orientations for the very first time. that’s canon.

“leading to accusations of homophobia towards shallura.” other people attacking you for their ship doesn’t make them right. and if people do, it means they feel threatened by shallura, for some reason, and likely blame it as the reason the creators didn’t say shiro was solely attracted to men (which they never have, btw) and even if that turns out to be the case… who cares? queer people need to understand that a win for one of us is, at its core, a win for all of us, and if they can’t name good solely gay representation, then they need to broaden their horizons, work with creators, or make their own content. not harass other queer people in fandom over something that won’t even be a blimp on other people’s maps. 

bi and pan shiro is not homophobic; or at least, if i saw him that way, people wouldn’t hate on me if i just shipped him with adam. aka implying that bi and pan people are only valid representation, or members of the lgbtq+ community when we’re in same sex relationships, which is… such utter bullshit and bi / pan-erasure. i’m panace whether i’m with a woman, a man, or a nonbinary person, and i’m fucking valid whether strangers who have nothing better do with their time like it or not. if someone tells you you’re homophobic for shipping shallura, it means they are ignoring the words of creator and the use of gay as an umbrella term because people like them have made ‘queer’ such a dirty word, and you can go tell them to fuck off, for all i care. 

“It just seems… irresponsible? of the writers to drop the revaluation this late.” again: shiro can be mlm and in a relationship with allura. these things are not mutually exclusive. would i have liked shiro being m-spec to have been made known sooner, say s2? yes, because it means representation would have been more well known perhaps, and my bi shiro headcanon would have been made practically canon sooner too! Nothing else would have changed. Not my love for Shallura, and certainly not my investment in it, because it never needed to, and it still doesn’t.

Judging by your ask, it seems you’re more concerned with the state of the fandom, rather than the writers. My advice about the general VLD fandom is, like always: the fandom is dumb so just ignore them. They’re not your time, and appear to be watching such a different version of Voltron then the way you are a conversation isn’t even possible. 

As someone who’s been in fandoms for seven years, I’m not kidding when I saw that the Voltron fandom, at large, is probably the stupidest fandom I’ve ever seen when it comes to how they interpret plotlines, characters, and development. (And now, in the wake of s7, it’s clear that LM and JDS aren’t much better, either.)

The sheer popularity of the Black Paladin Lance theory, which I’ve talked about here, demonstrates this almost wholly perfectly. More currently, the fandom’s rage over queerbaiting / bury your gays but not the ableism that surrounded and over shadowed it in massive ways.

As a queer writer who writes queer characters, I also know I’m going to be upfront with my main characters’ sexualities (aka characters who I know the sexualities of). It doesn’t matter if some of them are 11 when the books start, or don’t get a love interest in the end, or even at all. If someone asks me if a character is gay, or what a character’s sexuality is, I am going to answer truthfully. If someone asks me if one of my bi protagonists ends up with a boy or a girl, I am going to say a boy, because that is the version of this story I have chosen to write. If they want to write another, by all means they can! I would love for people to write all the wlw & mlm ships they want that don’t already exist in canon. I’m doing that because I want queer people to be able to connect and know that when they see themselves in these characters, that they’re seeing them as I intended, too. That they aren’t the ones doing the translating, the way they have with every other piece of media.

But even if I didn’t do all those things, having my bi-protag only have female love interests in the first two books and only mention an interest in boys doesn’t make her any less bi when she does end up with a boy. Same thing with other bi or pan women or men who end up in same or other sex relationships. Their queerness exists regardless of their relationship status, because they exist regardless of it. But the revelation that Shiro was queer, no matter how sloppily handled, perhaps, given what the writers knew would happen to Shiro (and Adam) s7, could never be irresponsible. Thoughtless and arrogant, perhaps, but never irresponsible.

I only wish the creators had actually given a single flying shit about him.
