Mabel Hampton (May 2, 1902 – October 26, 1989)

“I have been a lesbian all my life, for eighty-two years, and I am proud of myself and my people. I would like all my people to be free in this world, my gay people and my black people.” – Mabel Hampton (New York Pride 1984)

Mabel Hampton was born in 1902. She was a Black lesbian activist, dancer and philanthropist. Born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Hampton was only two months old when her mother died. She was raised by her grandmother and then by her aunt and uncle, who treated her badly. From the age of eight to 17, Hampton lived with a white family in New Jersey.  In 1919 she went to jail for prostitution, which she saw as a lesbian code. After serving 13 months of a three-year sentence at Bedford Hills, Hampton was released. In the 1920s, Hampton danced in all-black productions alongside the stars of the Harlem Renaissance. In 1932 she met Lillian Foster and the two women began a relationship that lasted until Foster's death in 1978. Throughout the 60s, Hampton was the central figure in a black lesbian community that flourished in the Bronx, and in 1974 she began working with the Lesbian Herstory Archives. Mabel was also an important person in the gay rights movement - she participated in every gay pride march during her lifetime, including the first historic march and demonstration for gay rights in Washington, D.C., in 1979. In 1985, Mabel was named Grand Marshal of the New York City Gay Pride March. In the same year, Mabel received a lifetime achievement award from the National Coalition of Black Lesbians and Gays. Interviews with Mabel are featured in the movies „Before Stonewall“ and „Silent Pioneers“, both of which document the struggle for gay rights and efforts to achieve equality. Mabel died of pneumonia in 1989 in New York, USA, at the age of eighty-seven.

idk it feels more like rp blogs are more meant to be places you dump info abt characters and less places to interact with others anymore. I mean I do write exclusively female ocs or heavily canon divergent they may as well be ocs, which we all know is at the very bottom of the barrel, no matter how many positivity posts go around, which colors my experience. I'm just tired of doing all the reaching, yk? Sending a million memes and getting none sent back. Writing opens that get ignored, writing starters that get less than 10 notes, posting plot and starter calls and getting crickets. It's exhausting, and my cocktail of mental illness makes it particularly draining.

TWD/Telltale - The Walking Dead AU - "Bad People or Good People?" Masterlist

Father Daughter relationship between Daryl and Clementine. Watch as she grows to become even more badass than the two men who taught her how to survive a zombie apocalypse <3

Summary:

"Find a group…" are one of the last words Lee says to Clementine. And so, Clementine does. Over and over and over again… until Clementine finds Daryl Dixon and his group at the prison. Whilst it's easy to gain the affection of Daryl, a man who soon becomes like a father to her, other members of the group might have some issues with her… not to mention the looming threat of other people still out there.

Changes Clementine’s fate after telltale's season 1 to fit in with the Walking Dead show, intertwining the stories from mid season 3 and onwards. Clementine is therefore 9 at the start!

(I will try to write with enough details that if you haven't seen or played either of the medias, you can follow along. But I also keep in mind that some have played and seen things multiple times so if something that was canon doesn't make sense immediately, it will in a later chapter <3 )

Chapters:

Glenn || A year after Lee's death, Clementine is on the run from Walkers after a horrible year. Right as she's on the brink of dying, an arrow saves her life.

Daryl Dixon's arrow.

Find a Group || Clementine's introduction to the group does not go as smoothly as Rick had hoped... Already existing tensions surface, and Clementine starts to notice that there might be something going on here at the prison... something involving bad people?

Fever || As Clementine falls unconscious from a fever, the group goes through various debates on Clementine's presence... whilst Glenn and Daryl bond over their care for the girl.

Forgiveness || When Clementine wakes from her fever, she's faced with the Greenes' grieving anger of the death of Shawn Greene... But Hershel's Farm is not the only thing from Clementine's past that is still haunting her.

An Honest Man || When Daryl and Merle return to the prison, tensions are high as both children of the group get offended by their father figures.

How is Daryl Dixon, the least talkative of all people, going to apologise to Clementine?

A Stronger Girl  || Whilst fixing cars with Daryl (and Merle), Clementine ponders on whether she should tell the group where to find Ylva's group now that she's finally free of it. In the end, it's the last two people one would think to change Clementine's mind that convince her...

We're the Good Guys, Clem (Part 1) || With Clementine revealing the location of the group after her, Rick makes a risky decision to take some of the group’s fighters to go after them despite the Governor looming on their doorstep. Meanwhile, Merle finds more reasons to provoke Daryl.

We're the Good Guys, Clem (Part 2) || Worried about Daryl as he goes after Ylva's group, Clementine finds herself stuck in her emotions until she cannot keep it together anymore...

We're the Good Guys, Clem (Part 3) || New alliances are made. Tyreese doesn't like what Woodbury seems to be, but Kenny is blind to it all. Rick doesn't like what he is turning into, meanwhile Clementine might have finally found a friend in Carl.

Based on story:

All on His Lonesome (only on AO3 atm, sorry) || At Daryl Dixon's grave, Clementine copes with her father figure's death with the help of Judith Grimes.

I love your OCs and I especially appreciate the time you put in creating gif sets with your dialogue in the color of your particular OC. Sorry in advance, I have lots of questions ahead!

Do you have any tips for someone who’s just starting out with Baldur’s Gate 3 and playing around with character creation? Do you spend a lot of time with resources that are already available or is there a particular mod or two you use to get details just right?

Do you usually have an idea of what you want/a character backstory in mind and just breathe it to life?

hiii! thank you so much for the kind words. ♡ happy to have you here! no need to apologize! i don't mind questions at all. i don't have many tips gameplay wise, so if you don't have an experience with isometric RPGs, i would advise you to keep the tutorials on. it's a bit of a learning curve if you're not used to it, but it's not super hard to get into. the game is really fun once you get the hang of it.

as for character creation, i am a bit of a mod whore and use several mods in almost any game i play. that being said, the vanilla game still has tons of options to choose from to customize your character. i would def boot it up w/o mods first to play around with all the options and see what you can come up with. i usually have an idea in mind before i create a character, whether it be a color palette i want to experiment with or just a random idea that popped into my mind from a quote or song i'm listening to. however, there have been times where my characters were purely born from seeing a certain mod and wanting to create a character with that asset. (like horns, hair, tattoos, a modded head, etc.) i tend to lean more towards elves or horned characters, which is the whole reason i have so many tieflings lol. horns, fangs, and pointy ears? sign me up! as for their backstories/personalities, it all depends. there have been times where my characters backstory was already forming before i made them, like my werewolf Ylva, and there are other times where their story came much later after their creation, like Khione. i will say the majority of their backstories come after i've made them, and i play around with dialogue options in game to kind of flesh out what feels right for them. i also keep a personal Discord where i ramble when the ideas hit me and individual Pinterest boards for inspiration on their personalities. i hope this helps! just know there is no right or wrong way to breathe your characters to life. sometimes their stories or looks might change drastically after you've started playing them and you switch it up, but it's so fun once that creative wave hits you. i also have a page where i list all the mods i use here, but please be wary that some contain spoilers for the main game, so i would def run a vanilla playthrough first before playing with mods. i also have some that are personal mods that aren't released, so always feel free to ask what outfits, accessories, horns, faces, etc i'm using on a certain gifset and i'll do my best to link them for you!

I've been enjoying seeing the early reviews trickle in. Some of them are so lovely, gushing five stars, and that's always so nice to see but I've especially been enjoying the reviews who say it's unusual or not like anything they've read before because it's not always fluffy and it deals with the serious topics of grief and depression. But it DOES have a happy ending.

This is great news to me because it means it's not like everything else out there! It's unique and different and I think I'd rather offer something new than the same thing they've read 100 times.

The book is obviously the same story as the fic, but there are significant changes so I hope that people enjoy reading both.

Keep an eye on the Ylva Website, because that's the first place it will become available and then on Amazon and other booksellers a week after that. But don't worry, I'll let you know when you can order it.

It's the anon with the dog treats for Ylva again. I've been reading through the asks you've been receiving and I am so sorry this is happening to you. I hate the way people are not treating you as a person who can suffer from the nastiness thrown at her, but some sort of scapegoat they can use to express whatever frustration they have, with the excuse to fight against the nasty big blogs (???) who send their army of angry anons (?????) against those who dare talk back to the big bosses of the fandom (????????). The only thing they are managing is making sure everyone who is not them leaves the fandom until it withers and dies. I'm sending you all the good energies and hugs, I hope this hiatus helps you find a way to enjoy fandom again, I love reading you on my dash, even when I don't share your opinions.

I was wondering if you can give some name ideas for a female werewolf character (gender neutral names are fine as well tho). I’m pretty bad when it comes to naming characters so blogs like yours help me alot and I appreciate them. I was planning on making her some type of (monster) hunter if that helps.

This OC sounds super cool! Here’s some names with a couple meanings that I found. A lot of them stem from Mythology, so I highly recommend looking into the name you pick so you know the myth behind it! That way you can make the informed decision whether you want to deviate from the myth or play into it. (Also myths are just fun to research.)
