Repaired Relationships

I don’t know why I am the only one around me who can forgive a parent’s choices from their drinking days. My father made mistakes, but he never hurt me. His mistakes caused me to grow up without him for the majority, he always felt like he failed as a father. He didn’t fail. He got sober so he could have a relationship with his children again. I am the only one of his kids who fought to have that relationship with him. I just wish I could tell him how proud I was of him doing that. If a parent is trying to repair the relationship, and it wasn’t toxic to your life. Please, give them a chance. I regret not being in my dad’s life more. And now he’s gone. Rest in peace dad, I miss you and I love you.
