Shadow and Bone - season 2 episode 5:

I’m so pissed. First of all I agreed with Mal, he was right, Alina was wrong. And just agreeing with Mal pissed me off.

But they are ruining Darklina. And I didn’t think that could be ruined more than what Rules of Wolves already did.

They are taking away everything! The loneliness of them, the angst. The fact that they are one another only true match and they are technically destined to be together. The show is showing us only the worst. Where is my tragic romance? I’m not asking for more than our few scenes. I want my Darklina.

I want them calling each other through the bond because despite everything, despite being on opposite sides they need each other comfort because this make them less alone. I want Alina crying when she kills him because he’s the only one who truly loved her for what she was and never turned away. Where is that?! I’m not asking for changes in the ending, I’ve long ago stop wishing for that, my hopes are dead.

I’m so angry! And it’s not even Mal’s fault. He’s just so boring.

But the point is: how the story will continue?

Mal being a di*k is what hold together the plot of book 2 and 3.

Mal hates toward Nikolai and Mal not accepting Alina is what started Niklina and if Mal won’t be a di*k how will we get Alina calling for the Darkling while she’s alone?

Ben Barnes was really doing the absolute MOST in all of his scenes. He was like: my entrance is going to be fabulous. In the first scene my presence will literally fill the tent. I will have so much sexual tension with the main character that you can almost physically see it. I am going to play a man who is absolutely lost but absolutely in love at the same time. And then I am going to embrace the darkness. The feral anger. The angst. I am going to look so good being bad everyone will hold their breath when I walk into the room. But still have SO much emotion. And then AND THEN in my backstory I am just going to be so full of emotions that you’re really left thinking ‘maybe the Darkling has points?’ I will treat every moment deathly seriously but also have moments of humor. I am on 110% mode every waking moment from my first arrival to when I walk out of the fold.

And I think that’s very sexy of him.

He fulfills the role of the villain but has a heroic cause–fighting to protect his people, but he has been around for so long that he is caught in the big picture and fails to see the individual human cost of his actions. His relationship with Alina is so fascinating because she is the opposite, seeing primarily the human cost, and her compassion/idealism reminds him of who he used to be. In this essay I will…

Me with antis: The Darkling has never done a single wrong thing in his life. Every time he killed it was good and correct. I consider him both a role model AND good husband material. In fact, I wish he committed MORE atrocities. It would be sexy.

The most amazing thing about LBD is that they looked at Fitzwilliam Darcy, a guy that 1) is THE Love Interest in pop culture, 2) has qualities that back then made him a weirdo but now are basically the YA! LI Starter Pack, 3) is canonically handsome and elegant-looking and still found a way to adapt him that made Lizzie completely justified for thinking him an undateable prat at first.
