Thinking about how Az was being so gentle and slow with Elain in the bonus chapter even though every instinct he had was roaring to claim her immediately. This guy may be the freakiest of the bat boys but he is also the softest.

This is also the same guy who says I don’t have to resort to poetry but with Elain he does.

If Chaol was a woman, I think there would be more forgiveness for his personality and struggles. His growth would also not be ignored.

Everything Chaol knew changed. He was raised in a kingdom that hated magic and he was at such an impressionable age, as well as being with a family he preferred over his own. Of course he would hold their prejudices.

Chaol's first kill and his distress over it makes everyone roll their eyes, but what if he was a woman? A woman soldier with strong morals and always trying to make the right decision makes her first kill and it upsets her. That would be fine, right?

And then his entire identity- being a good soldier, strong, and protecting everyone he loves- is upended when he is injured and cannot move the way he used to. Of course he is going to be angry, of course he's going to struggle with accepting it. Of course he is going to "complain" about it.

In the end, he accepted himself. He accepted Aelin. He accepted help, and he understood that his disability didn't make him "less of a man". He had real, true character growth and is the most human character in all of SJM's writings. Yet y'all demonize him for it.

Just say you want male characters who are strong and perfect from the beginning and move on.

One of the most life-changing things I ever learned came from Mythbusters, where they tested and proved (with cognitive testing puzzles and reaction time tests) that lying down and resting with the intention to sleep STILL provided significant mental benefits over just staying awake, even if a person couldn’t fall asleep in the amount of time they had. 

It helps me to actually sleep to know that just lying down with my eyes closed is still doing me some good, and helps me to not freak out/beat myself up when I stay up later than intended. Any amount of rest is better than no rest!

So if you didn’t know that…now you do

You are fucking delusional if you think what Rhys did UTM with Feyre was anything outside of keeping her alive and protected. It is literally said in the text, very plainly, that what he did was out of protection from her seeing and processing the true horrors of what went on around them.
