via @blackfeministfuture Finally, BG is FREE! 🥳 We are relieved Brittney Griner has finally been released and is on the way home to her wife and loved ones. Today’s news is a cause for celebration, but we remain horrified by her detention and all that she had to endure when her case was not prioritized. Brittney’s story is just one of many that cannot be forgotten or erased. The systemic policing, criminalization, and deprioritization of Black people continue worldwide. We affirm and will continue fighting for the just and equal treatment of Black women, LGBTQ+, and gender-expansive people — no matter their status or class. We are overjoyed to finally #BringBrittneyHome. Let's keep building to get us all free. sharing this quote in preparation of the comments if they’re anything like those on the @veganhiphopmovement "Patriarchy has no gender." - bell hooks • @darkest.hue TW: mentions of domestic violence, s*xual assault, s*icide, misogyny Despite what many think, Chris Brown has actually NOT suffered enough for his CONTINUED violence against women. Following his 2009 assault of Rihanna, Chris Brown has since gone on to collaborate with popular artists (including fellow alleged abuser Tory Lanez). He has been allowed to perform at prominent award shows and music festivals. He has gone on to win prominent awards. He is still well-respected in the music industry, despite his lengthy history of abusing women. He even won an award at the recent AMAs. It is suspected that he was banned from attending because his ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran was in attendance, and Chris Brown would have violated the 5-year-restraining order she has against him. This false notion that Chris Brown has "lost everything" is pushed in an attempt to garner sympathy for the disgraced singer. Famous abusive men are rarely sufficiently held accountable for their behavior. Chris Brown is not an exception to this rule. Do not fall for the Chris Brown redemption campaign of 2022. #chrisbrown #amas https://www.instagram.com/p/Clp9xpsOzad/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

via @butchanarchy: The liberal reduction of a mass shooting that resulted from years of escalating genocidal rhetoric and violence towards trans and queer people (made possible by the media and the state) to being simply an issue of gun violence is a fucking insult as far as I’m concerned. • We’ve been sounding the alarm about how we are being actively targeted in organized attacks via social media, mainstream media fear mongering and misinformation about trans healthcare, forced detransition of youth, and more. But y’all want to make this all about guns. • This. The violence towards us is not a result of individual pathology. It is not dangling outside of history, the accidental result of too lax a weapon’s policy. It is organized, historical. It will not be disappeared by a strategic application of gun law. • Guns are such an easy focus for liberals because casting them as the main *cause* of mass violence allows them to flatten all incidents of mass violence and escape having to question the ways they are connected to and constructed by other forms of social violence in our society. • It allows them to think that the way to solve mass violence is through some bureaucratic adjustments to gun law, rather than having to look at the way that mass shooting is but one expression of a system of violence organized to erase entire groups of people from social life. • A system that they are complicit in and regularly benefit from. • In reality, guns are tools. In the hands of reactionaries they are used to strengthen systems of violence. In the hands of the marginalized, they are used as tools of protection from a system of violence that very literally wants us dead. • When you focus on legislating away guns, you engage in the liberal fantasy that gun laws will be applied evenly across all populations. In reality, the reactionaries will, by and large, keep their guns, because they are ultimately allies of the State. • Again, every law is effectively a police order and the police do not carry out those orders uniformly across the population, but, in reality, do so selectively on the most marginalized. Gun laws are not any different in this respect. • continued… https://www.instagram.com/p/Clcnd0YjgFb/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

[ID: 3 slides with same blue and orange gradient background with bold white text. slide 1 reads “there is nothing more dangerous than western imperialist terrorism masquerading as human rights.”; slide 2 reads “we’re supposed to believe that the same western imperialist nations that have spent decades bombing and genociding millions of women in Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Syria, Libya, Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Palestine and the millions of women they killed/are still killing in the Indigenous nations currently occupied by the U.S., Canada, Australia — that these imperialist mass murderers of women suddenly care about women in Iran???”; slide 3 reads “as people living inside the imperial core, our primary call to action should be to end all U.S. sanctions and hybrid warfare against Iran. if you are not calling for that, you are knowingly or unknowingly manufacturing consent for continued imperialist destruction.”] https://www.instagram.com/p/ClO-1I-P-WA/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

via @kadiatoutubman Patriarchy, like any system of dominance, dictates and regulates which behaviors, beliefs, and standards are acceptable, appropriate, and worthy. And those behvaiors, beliefs, and standards must always, all-ways, uphold and reinforce the power of the dominant group and maintain a social order. 😪 That is what scares folks (of all genders) to see a Black women and MaGes (marginalized genders) like @chloebailey enjoy/own/profit from their sexuality and body autonomy. Some are afraid of us and some are afraid for us. I was afraid for Chloe because I recognized that what she was doing directly (and publicly) challenged power, control, and dominance, which is always met with violence, repression, and policing from both men and women (see my previous post called "How 'Protect Black Women' Can Be Problematic" for a primer). It can't just be "Protect Black Women." It's also "Abolish the Patriarchy/Misogyny." So, to all the Black women folks, Trans folks, gender nonconforming folks, sex worker folks, marginalized folks, they will not bury us. Do you, boo, do you. #freedomfromshame #bodyautonomy #liberation #abolition #blacklivesmatter #smashthepatriarchy #blackwomenmatter #protectblackwomen #feminism #black #women #blackfeministfuture #transliberation #freedomfromfear #selfpreservation #decisionsdecisions #mypower #radicalselflove #radicalselfacceptance #selflove #blackwomenhealing #blackfeminist #blackfeminism #abolition https://www.instagram.com/p/ClHalhpvIOS/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

via @independentthought @cocktailsandcapitalism Iran is sentencing 15,000+ people to death - as a “hard lesson” for all rebels How this isn’t getting more coverage right now is beyond me, but that needs to change now! Please take the time to share this information ⚠️ Tag 🏷 news outlets Tag 🏷 politicians (even state & local) Help bring awareness to this story ✅ Here’s some info as reported by @newsweek ⬇️ After numerous calls for harsh punishments in recent days, the Iranian parliament on Tuesday voted overwhelmingly in favor of the death penalty for protesters. Iran has been experiencing unprecedented levels of protests and civil unrest since the death of Mahsa Amini on September 16. The 22-year-old Kurdish woman was arrested by the country's "morality police" for supposedly wearing an "improper" form of hijab during a visit to Tehran and allegedly beaten severely while in custody. Iranian lawmakers have, in recent days, called for strict punishments for the protesters who have been arrested. On Monday, CNN reported that a letter signed by 227 members of the Iranian parliament urged that the protesters be given harsh punishment that "would serve as a good lesson in the shortest possible time." On Tuesday, parliament did just that, voting to impose the death penalty on all protesters in custody as a "hard lesson" for all rebels. The majority in favor of the penalty was considerable, 227 out of the 290 total members. https://www.instagram.com/p/Ck64MgmPgn4/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
