canon winterhawk is like best friends who are so ride or die to distant besties who are still very ride or die honestly

like the time clint and bobbi are having problems and who is there to help clint actually realize the extent of his wifes trauma? bucky

when natasha loses her memories and bucky is drowning under pressure who is there for him without asking for anything in return? clint

when something seems wrong about natashas death they depend on each other to discover the truth because they've got each other's backs

when clint doesn't feel like he belongs to the avengers anymore and starts lying to his friends about what he's doing, who sees through him but decides to send kate to help because he still supports clint? bucky

like they just have all of these tiny little moments littered throughout canon where it's just them quietly having each other's backs and it makes me insane

“You are making it very hard to stay mad at you,” he said softly.

“I’ll pretend I heard that. I’m going with ‘holy shit, Clint Barton, I love you’,” Clint said.

The problem was that, despite Clint’s joking tone, Bucky really did love him. He knew it from the moment he walked into that restaurant and Clint’s first reaction was to apologize for being late and asking that Bucky not tell Natasha. He knew it when Clint kissed him in the rain, or let himself be vulnerable on the second date to tell Bucky about his sexuality, and helped set up healthy boundaries after that. Bucky knew he loved Clint every time he saw that bright smile, watched him lay on the ground, cuddling Lucky, or the times they had to stop whatever they were doing because he saw a dog, or someone that needed help.

Bucky stood up on his toes and kissed Clint’s forehead. “That is exactly what I said.” Clint looked in awe for a moment before his face turned red.

B/N/C Writing Challenge (2023a)

A while back, I promised to host a writing challenge for those who ship Bucky Barnes and Natasha Romanoff. I abandoned the idea after a few little attempts and came back to it only today.

I reworked the original concept to center around three characters, Bucky Barnes, Natasha Romanoff, and Clint Barton, to accommodate a variety of shippers.

Clothes thieves

Pairing: Bucky Barnes/ Clint Barton

Warning: Clint tells a terrible (just for him funny) joke. implied sexuel content.

When Clint wakes up, the world outside is gray and cloudy and snowflakes are dancing and swirling around. “Snow,” he murmurs sleepily and turns around, only to find the bed empty. Yawning, he sits up and looks confused at the small piece of paper lying on Bucky's pillow.

I'm outside with Lucky :)

Clint grumbles grumpily to himself, reaches for the hearing aids that are on the bedside table, gets out of bed and grabs a black sweater that is on the floor. While putting it on, he realizes it's a bit too small for him. The soft material smells like Bucky and so he just shrugs his shoulders and leaves the bedroom.

He has reached the end of the stairs when the apartment door swings open and Lucky storms in happily. However, Clint's eyes fall on Bucky, who comes through the door in a sweater that's too big. “Is that my sweater?” they both ask at the same time, pointing at each other with a grin.

“A little small for you, huh?” Bucky says slightly teasingly. He takes off his shoes and then comes over to him. “A little big for you, huh?” Clint replies, brushing snowflakes off Bucky’s head. “At least I don’t look like I washed it too hot,” Bucky says, standing on his tiptoes and placing a kiss on Clint’s cheek.

"Mh, maybe I should just get a bigger boy-"

“Clinton,” Bucky says indignantly, still grinning, but with a mock dramatic tone.

"That was a joke. I love you no matter how small you are"

“And I love you no matter how big you are”

“Do you want me to show you how big I am,” Clint asks teasingly and winks.

"Clint!"

However, Clint just wiggles his eyebrows and gives Bucky a kiss, which ends with them lying satisfied and exhausted in bed.

was scrutinizing why I like winterhawk so much in 616 outside of their connection to Steve and I think I found my answer

clint and bucky are both dead men readjusting to reality and finding their footing in a modern world at the same time and i never considered this perspective before but it's undeniable that it would create a deeper connection imo

like they found each other and became best friends during one of the hardest and most difficult processes that either of them have experienced and im just sitting here like why have i not explored this yet why is this just hitting me NOW oh my god

like sure Bucky didn't actually die but like losing 60 years and coming back to everyone you care about being dead and then your longest friend dying immediately after?

and then Clint actually died (twice!!) and came back and everything was so different and the people are the same sure but everything he loved about the avengers is over

they're both processing so much grief and loss in such a unique way that I just can't help but think "i must ship them immediately"

I love how the Clint Barton tag right now is literally just him as Ken in the Barbie meme with various people. because one, we all saw it and immediately went “oh that’s so Hawkeyecore” and two, he has such a type. he collects black cats to his golden retriever.
