do you think five is sometimes childish? like in the comics when he sometimes acts like a child. mayb some headcanons about it?
I think in the show, not directly - Aidan does an insane job acting as a mature, 58 year old man.
As a headcanon? Yeah. I've talked around it a bit in some of my fics, but I do think Five has a lot of growing up to do. I think there's a not-insignificant part of him that's sort of stuck at 13. How could there not be, when he had no one around him to help him actually grow up and mature for 40 years?
This is not to be confused with him being a child or fully acting like a child. He is first and foremost a fully grown, middle-aged man. He has adult interests, he is capable and can take care of himself, he should be treated as and respected as an adult. He is Old and he is Tired. But I think it's more along the lines of that he's horrendously ignorant in how the world works, how to socialize, how to be an actually functional person. All those little lessons he missed out on because he was tragically trapped in the apocalypse. It's in those little nothing trips you go on with parents or friends or whatnot where you learn how a car wash works or how to make an appointment. It's all those cringe lessons we learn in middle and high school, figuring out how to fit in and find and make friends as we get older. It's those first few years in college, moved out from home and having to manage money and feeding ourselves and being fully responsible for ourselves.
The only real practice he's had with any of that was at the end of the world, where he's scavenging and literally everything was his because everyone else was dead, and with Delores, who is just him and doesn't exist. His only conversation partner was someone who already knew what was going on in his head so he didn't have to learn to really articulate his thoughts. If something didn't come out right, he could just handwave "ah, you get it" and Delores would get it because she is him.
I think everyday conversations, small talk, is so outside of Five's wheelhouse. His communication skills are Not Good. Big things? Big things that deal with consequences and time and his experience with all the fucked up shit he's had to do? He can do that. A nothing conversation with a sibling that winds for half an hour and no one is really saying anything? Absolutely not, what the fuck are they even talking about? Anything that has to deal with emotions and talking through them and identifying them is also so beyond him. The guy hasn't done any self reflection to figure out what he's feeling for decades (what's the point? He feels bad? Well, he's in the apocalypse and his family is dead, of course he feels bad. What more could there possibly be to it.) This is all stuff, for a lot of people, we learn and figure out how to do and communicate as we grow up, get to be adults, and go to therapy. For sure Reggie wasn't teaching them how to communicate well and to be in touch with their emotions, and Five absolutely did not get anything on that front when he was alone at the end of the world or getting used and abused at the Commission.
As to acting like a child, it has been a minute since I read the comics so I can't off the top of my head think of specifics (except for his Child Disguise during his corporate espionage phase which I Adore). But headcanons for show!Five, I think it comes down to more allowing himself to have random shit for no reason, have comfort items. As a 26-year-old adult, I have plushies and impulse buy little odds and ends regularly because I Like Them. I think allowing himself to have things that might come across as childish is a big hurdle for Five, because he's desperate for people to not see him as a child when he looks like one. Relaxing and letting himself Be is his first step, which is a thing a lot of us all learn, too. I, at least, had a phase in my early 20s, after I graduated college, where I cleaned house on explicitly fandom things and any plushies or whatnot I had were For Decoration. I was an adult and I thought my surroundings should reflect that. Now I have a cow ottoman in my living room that I think is technically for children because I'm embracing my accidentally cowboy-themed living room and also I wanted the cow ottoman.
I got sidetracked, there, but what I'm trying to get at is that part of growing up is figuring out what you like, don't like, and vibing with that and letting yourself just do that. Five has no fucking clue what he likes and doesn't like. He's never had a chance to really explore that or had resources to spare to do so. Any kindness he did for himself that wasn't Directly Survival Related, he pawned off reasoning as "being for Delores". Things can just be for him, now.
The growing up Five has to do is all hinged on learning how the modern world works and figuring out who he is as a person, outside of being an Academy member, an apocalypse survivor, and a Commission assassin - none of which are things he had a choice about. Who is Number Five when he gets a say in it? It's less of a "he's like a kid!" and more "these are the things he's fifty years behind in, developmentally, and he has some catching up to do".
(If this ramble got incoherent, because whups yeah, you can find these headcanons poking out in my fics like The Zoo Is Better When It's Not All Dead, Simple, and A Rusty Cog)

Ask game anon. Im stupid. Five/Eleven questions 2, 3, 8, 9 and 30 djdjdjcn
kajdkss no worries anon i felt that
im gonna do both <3 five first
2. When I think I truly started to like them (or dislike them, if you've sent me a character I don't like)
ok see the thing about five is that he is such a compelling character to me. INSANELY compelling. i mean come on, kid who lost himself in the literal apocalypse at THIRTEEN and his whole family was dead, and then he spent DECADES working his ass off and then working as an assassin all to get back and save his family but when he does he fucks up and is an old man stuck in a child's body? i ate that shit RIGHT UP. he's a bitch he's an old geezer he's a cranky weirdo he kills people and his morals are fucked as all hell. i LOVED five right away he was so cool
HOWEVER. HOWEVER. if u were in tua fandom circa 2019 u know what a hell hole it was. u know that no one could be normal about any fucking thing. the amount of victim blaming accusations at the siblings were ummm. yeah. it was hostile back then and to some degree it still is probably adkdsjds. so after a while that kind of ruined five for me a little bit because. no one GOT him u know? no one got him right and it was frustrating + all the five stans were the weirdest most rabid people around back then. so that began to put me off the character as a whole. plus aidan gallagher was being so rampantly silly (derogatory) back then too
but actually i do still like five. i think that his story is really interesting and his love for his family is so integral to the central plot of the whole show and he deserves to retire and have a chill relatively normal life. i didnt care for season 3 but even after all that yeah he should get to just hole up somewhere and idk do normal old man things. also five is funny as hell like im sorry but 13 year old boy losing his absolute shit 24/7 because he's actually a 58 year old adult man with the worst life in the world is never NOT gonna be funny
3. A song that reminds me of them
UNIVERSE EXPANDED BY FRANZ FERDINAND......... it is SO fivecore it is so him in the apocalypse trying to get back home. especially the parts that go "I'll meet you coming backwards, Yes I'll meet you coming back, When the universe has expanded, Time will contract, You'll come back" like . ARGHHHH. also not so much anymore but in my prime of tuaposting "lucky ball & chain" by they might be giants made me think of five and dolores every time without fail
8. Your favorite outfit of them
ok i actually do love fives s3 outfits. like it may not have been as good as the first two seasons but it DID go off with finally letting five wear things that arent a plain suit or an academy uniform. i love his stupid hat i love it when he rocks up to the family gathering decked out in old geezer swag
9. Your least favorite outfit of them
GRRR THE UNIFORM... listen i KNOW its iconic i KNOW he spends two seasons wearing it but AGHH FREE HIM!!!!!!! FREE HIM
30. The funniest scene they had?
every other scene he's in is so insanely fucking funny i cant pick. lets see tho umm big fan of when in s2 he rocks up to elliott's house and starts acting like he owns the place, big fan of his return scene in s1 where he's making the world's worst sandwich and calls diego stupid for not understanding quantum physics, also i liked the whole worlds biggest ball of twine subplot in s3. OH ALSO when he was making his list of who he needs to kill in s1 and luther was like "thats murder you cant do that" and he was like "oh my fucking GOD, luther, grow the fuck UP" there are so many fucking things wrong with him
OK THIS GOT LONG so ill put el in a separate post <3

My Top 8 Best Acting Moments from Aidan Gallagher!
Thank You to Anonymous for Requesting
Analysis Below
>>Warning: This is a giant post, so don’t click “read more” unless you genuinely want to read more. Otherwise, you’ll be scrolling for a long-ass time. This analysis covers the acting, psychology, and writing genius of Five Hargreeves.<<
Tumblr media
So, this may be the lowest on this list, but it is by no means his weakest acting scene. My god, this scene is incredible because of the accuracy given the age and, henceforth, the experience of the actor.
Acting is effective if the person is able to accurately tell a truth whilst in imaginary circumstances. In order to act powerfully, we are commonly taught to connect complicated emotional situations to something we know well and, therefore, can portray well.
For many, being drunk isn’t anything new. And being tipsy isn’t exactly uncommon to act out. But for a fourteen-year-old, this is awesome to see because it is incredibly accurate. And, given the character’s psychological/emotional status, it’s even more impressive.
Here’s why:
So, right off the bat, listening to Aidan’s speech is something awesome. His clear yet natural slurring, his guttural tone: these two things are perfect indications of intoxication, since volume control is practically gone and drunk people don’t think things through. They just talk, and talk, and stumble because their inhibitions are so low.
It’s can really be heard, best, when he says, “she said it makes me surly” and when Diego whips around, he says, “hmm?”
Another thing that makes this so fun to watch is the fact that Aidan is completely lax. Being carried is one sign of that, yes, but even his subtle movements are loose. He did his homework, not only for the vocalization of someone who is drunk, but also for their movements.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look how loose his movements are. He just tosses his hand up, lets it drop back down, and his head is too heavy, flopping all around. Completely uncoordinated and smooth, which is a bright contrast to Five’s usual coordinated, sharp, and calculated movements. The character is relatively rigid, which makes sense given his psychology and traumas.
Speaking of traumas.
Tumblr media
There is this beautiful, subtle self-soothing movement going on right here. It’s a clear comfort to him, and after the night he has had, and the trauma he has endured, it makes perfect sense for him to be clinging to her as such. Whether Aidan knew what he was doing with this, I can’t say, but what I can say was that it was a fantastic choice of action to follow through with.
KEY NOTES: Acting drunk is all about fluidity. You make yourself as liquid-y as possible. Become one with the water, though not in an elegant way. Rather, become the cup that’s just tipped over. Water is spilling over the side, getting everywhere, aimlessly spreading across the tabletop. It’s a mess, it has no direction nor stability, etc.
Aidan follows through with this beautifully. I could gush about this all day, just as I could with so much of his acting. Acting drunk is hard, even for some adults. Luckily, he has it on his side that Five is so completely opposite of what we see here, that him being so flimsy and giggly is strange as shit.
Additionally, if you’re ever needing to act drunk, do the opposite of your character, given the script allows it. If the character is normally very carefree and lighthearted, become the depressed, crying drunk, or the angry drunk. Or, like Aidan, if your character is normally rigid, become a giggling mess that can’t take shit seriously.
On to the next, where it’s more about the psychology of a character rather than the physical acting of the actor...
Tumblr media
This scene. This was the moment that made me realize just how much I adored Five when he’s absolutely batshit. Unlike most of this list, where internal conflict and monologue drives for an impressive performance, in this case, it is the external conflict and monologue that makes this scene fantastic!
Here’s why:
It is an absolute rollercoaster of emotions for Five Hargreeves.
Seriously, this guy is leaping from emotion to emotion, bouncing between frustration to borderline panic to bitter glee to mania to relief. You can practically see the gears turning in Aidan’s head throughout the entire scene as he throws Five through the ringer.
So, from the top, we’re given this glorious moment, both a genius writing move and fantastically acted.
Tumblr media
The vending machine.
I know a lot of people are like, “hell yeah” because Aidan gets to say “fuck”, or because he’s just off the shits. There are many reasons to love this scene. But I especially love this scene because it’s really introducing to the audience exactly what’s going to happen: intensity, violence, and Five snapping, losing his cool in a lapse of fear and frustration and desperation. And it’s beautifully encapsulated in this one fucking scene.
Aidan’s acting here might seem easy, and in a sense, it is. It’s easy to ram your shoulder against a vending machine and shake it and get mad. But what isn’t easy is knowing why you’re doing this, and feeling it. Just from observation and process of elimination, Aidan’s likely mostly a method-based actor. He bases his acting, and his characters, in his own reality. That means that, if Five is panicked, Aidan will force panic upon himself. He’ll induce an emotion physically to get a psychological and emotional reaction.
And here, it’s clear that whatever he was thinking out, however he had prepped for this scene, was working. Because you can freeze these frames and, sure, see funny faces. But you’ll also see flashes of fear, of desperation, of panic, of anger. Fear and panic because he may fail his siblings, he may not be able to save them. Desperation because he needs this to work, he is going to murder all these people and so he needs it to work. And anger because the Handler is making him do this again; he’s right under her thumb once more.
All of these emotions, every damn one, is played out in this one. fucking. scene. And that’s insane.
Those emotions come to a head here:
Tumblr media
Aidan’s deep, stabilizing breath grounds Five. He has gotten his rage and desperation and fear out. Now, there’s only one thing for Five to do: murder the Board. And it’s an instant click here.
There’s the deep breath. The understanding. The resignation to what needs to be done.
Then a head turn.
Then boom. Look carefully. You can see the light drain from his eyes, see the hesitation bleed out right there. Right there. All within a breath, head turn, a beat, then a face forward.
That is some intense grasp on your physicality, your emotions, and your portrayal of those emotions. Aidan’s always been fantastic at emoting, but subtle scenes like this just prove his class in it. It’s incredible to see.
And then this scene:
Tumblr media
This shit is actually an amazing move on Aidan’s part. It holds both literal and metaphorical weight: he sighs, from exhaustion, because Five is fucking tired after jumping that much, expending that much energy in a short amount of time, and narrowly letting his target escape. But it’s also showing a mental exhaustion, a wearing of the mind on the body. He sighs from relief, but it’s ironic, because the fight is far from over.
And you can see that.
Notice how Aidan may be sighing - sighing with his whole body - but the exhaustion is still in his eyes, his brow is still furrowed. There is no relief there, because there isn’t any relief for Five in this moment. His mission has been accomplished, but he has to deal with the Handler, with the aftermath, with the repercussions of his selfish actions to save his family.
And you can see it all in this movement.
KEY NOTES: When acting out internal conflict, be subtle. Obvious movements are made for obvious, external conflicts. A person who punches first in a bar fight as an obvious external conflict. But, like shown here, a person who is breaking from the inside out will have external action, but also internal emotion that comes out in the most subtle of ways, whether it be through expression, through contradicting action (the sigh, but no visible relief), etc.
More often than not, in the arts, less is more. However, you first need to understand the more to be able to do the less. So analyze the scene, analyze the character, understand it fully, and feel it truthfully.
Onto the next!
Tumblr media
This scene is quick but beautiful.
I love the entire apocalypse scene, and I’m sure you do as well. But this one moment right here. This moment where he sees Klaus and backs away? Fucking beautiful.
Let’s just zoom in, shall we?
Tumblr media
Yes, a lovely grainy gif. But God it shows everything you need it to. This scene is a fucking gutpunch, and here’s why:
You can see every flicker of emotion, every transition. It’s in the way his mouth eventually closes, the way he backs up, slowly. It’s so fucking evident that Five is heartbroken, and you can see the thoughts going through his head. The realization that this is Klaus, that his siblings are dead, that he is alone in this apocalypse and his family is dead. The tears in his eyes...
God, bro. It hits so good.
Not being able to use dialogue can sometimes be difficult, because the actor doesn’t have a key part of their craft with them: words. Being able to emote, to shift from emotion to emotion so seamlessly with just a meager movement of the jaw while backing away. It’s incredible.
That’s literally all this is about. I chose this as my number six because it is so powerful within only a hundred-or-so frames. Having an actor be able to emote to clearly with just facial expression...
Shit, bro. Shit. It’s fantastic.
Like I said, the rest of this scene is amazing, and him finding his other siblings is intense, but this look right here is just...unparalleled.
KEY NOTES: Feel that shit. If you can’t feel it, craft a narrative to make yourself feel it. Again, acting is always about believing and living truthfully in imaginary circumstances, and sometimes it’s difficult to express emotions and feelings as is, let alone without dialogue. To help that, think of something.
For example, in this scene, if I were Aidan, I would think about the fact that these people I love are dead, the world as I know it is destroyed. Sure, I may not know that literal feeling, but I do understand the feeling of hopelessness, of feeling so utterly alone. Make it so that you’re able to live truthfully, however you need to do that. People usually don’t have completely empty heads; they’re thinking of things, of many things, often. So think about those things in-scene and in-character, and feel it.
Additionally, this is going back to the less is more. Aidan barely moves, here. His expression is relatively static but that slow back away, that hardening of his jaw, those things are gentle shifts that drastically change the way Five is in the scene. He goes from shocked, slack-jawed and glassy-eyed, to feeling cold realization as he closes his mouth and backs away, the understanding dawning upon him.
I could gush about this for decades...
Next!
Tumblr media
This whole barn scene is just...gold as fuck. But this scene in particular, with the interwoven flashbacks of Five’s siblings, his father, his instances with time travel. The realizations that cross his face are beautiful, which in turn, makes this scene fantastic.
Get ready for some awkwardly close close-ups, because I’m about to explain some really cool shit as to how Aidan’s using facial expressions to navigate pain, realization, fear, surprise, etc.
So here’s why:
FEELING THE FEELINGS.
That’s how. A lot of what makes this scene powerful from an acting perspective is because Aidan completely suspends himself in disbelief. There are a lot of surprises that come to Five in this moment, and Aidan feels them all. And he feels them powerfully. He feels the shock around the pain of being shot, on top of it.
So to kick it off! Here:
Tumblr media
Aidan’s living in this moment. He’s living in the anger of the Handler, thinking he’s going to die right here. His siblings have just been murdered again, by this bitch. And the audience is able to live in that with him. His eyes harden. His jaw sets. He’s breathing tight around the pain, infuriated, either shaking from the agony or the hatred or both.
Five is so caught up in that moment, and Aidan suspends himself in that moment so clearly, that the next moment is powerful as shit.
The Handler gets shot.
Tumblr media
She gets turned to swiss-fucking-cheese right in front of him, and the way Aidan lets Five live in every second is beautiful. He goes from shocked, to confused, to going, “oh shit, that looks painful”. And it’s muted by his pain. Aidan doesn’t need to move much, he doesn’t need to make a grandiose gesture. It’s wide eyes, it’s knitted eyebrows, it’s swallowing around the blood and letting Five be in this moment.
And then Five realizes - Aidan lets Five realize - that the Swede has taken the Handler’s place. That he’s going to die all over again.
Tumblr media
There is that anger again. That pure fucking spite. It’s the look of a man who would murder someone if he could sit up. His jaw sets from before, where it was slack with surprise and sympathetic pain. Look how sharp his eyes are. Boy is fucking pissed and it’s beautiful.
Let’s hop back! Back to movement!
Aidan’s squirming around here?
Tumblr media
Realistic as shit. Five’s just been shot. That’s absolute agony. And there’s blood coming down the side of his mouth, which means his lungs have somehow been hurt. He can’t talk, breathing must suck, and so of course he’s writhing on the ground.
Tumblr media
And this?
Is Five clenching his hands from pain? Is he trying to blink? What’s going on here? I don’t know, maybe Aidan does, but either way, both motivations are powerful. Five may be trying to blink away. He may be trying to tap into his powers instinctively. Or maybe he’s squirming in pain, clenching and unclenching his fists. And that shit punches. It’s so subtle, but so good, keeping the audience in the moment. No matter where you look on his body, whether his hands, his face, his chest - it all shows the agony he’s in, the desperation he’s swimming in.
Which then leads to the coolest fucking moment:
Tumblr media
Look at how his eyes shift, only just so. His brows furrow only slightly. He’s realizing what’s going on, what he can do to save his family. Aidan played this perfectly. Again, less is more. These subtle movements make so much sense, because Five has been shot, he’s losing blood fast, and it’s dulling his movements and senses.
Tumblr media
And when Five begins turning back the seconds?
The pain, the shock, the “holy shit this is working???” My god, you can see him choking on the blood and around the agony. You can see his hesitation, his being startled by his own powers, by what he is capable of. The rapid blinking, the jumping eyebrows, the gasping for air as the bullets likely begin ripping out of him.
KEY NOTES: Subtle subtle subtle. Live in that moment. Suspend your disbelief. Here, in this scene, there are several key shifts. These shifts are supposed to be a massive surprise to Five. And because Aidan is king at staying in the moment, and letting that moment live in him, he is able to display these shifts perfectly.
1st Shift - Realizing he is alive, and his siblings are dead.
2nd Shift - The Handler getting shot.
3rd Shift - Axel moving to kill him.
4th Shift - The realization of his father’s words.
5th Shift - Holy shit time travel is working.
All of them need to have a shift in-scene/with the tone. Aidan shifts this with pure expression. He doesn’t need to utter a single word because he is able to live in that moment and truly let himself be shocked, scared, desperate, angry, etc. So, in order to do this, live in the moment.
Some people say knowing exactly what will happen helps, because you’re able to time your expressions perfectly. Others say that knowing nothing helps, because you’re literally letting yourself be surprised. This truly depends on the actor, and their style. Aidan has expressed that he waits to read his lines until he’s there, on set, because then it’ll be more of a shock to him. That works really well for him (clearly) but it may not work for you, so test that out how you’d like.
Onto the next!
Tumblr media
This.
Shit.
Is so good.
The moment when Five meets with Dolores again after god knows how much time while he was at the Commission-- It’s beautiful. And again, being the king of the subtle, Aidan can display the perfect mix of emotions that are occurring in this scene.
Here’s what’s up:
As many people may have noticed, a lot of these fantastic, key moments for me, in particular, are special due to subtlety. And subtlety is seen in the micro-expressions displayed through the face, mainly. Specifically, the eyes. Aidan’s ability to act solely through his eyes is something I’m going to focus on for this scene in particular.
Tumblr media
These are his eyes the moment he sees Dolores again. And what’s really, really fucking cool is that Aidan is completely living in this scene. It shows in his eyes: real compassion, real love, real care. Sure, Aidan may not care about the mannequin in front of him, but he is thinking about something, whether that’s Five’s ties to Dolores, or someone in his life that he truly feels fond over.
You can see it.
His eyes soften significantly as the gif continues, and you can even see the corners of his eyes upturn after he says, “Dolores”. There is real love here. The actor is able to portray true love through just the eyes. And that’s insane. Many actors express love through physical action because they may not be actually feeling it. They’ll say, “I love you” but express flatly, with dull eyes and a forced smile.
But here. No, not that shit. This shit has Aidan feeling everything. And it makes a big difference, makes everything feel so much more genuine. Good acting is through the eyes, not the words. Dialogue enhances the story, but being genuine, and selling that story as “reality”, is done by the actor, through the eyes, the subtle expressions, the minimal gestures and movements.
Let’s look at some more eyes?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, I fucking hate looking at eyes. But with Aidan - like with many good actors - I find them fascinating to watch. Because if an actor is feeling it, is living in the moment, they will express fantastically through their eyes. Most human communication is body language/unspoken, and I’m willing to bet a good chunk of that is through the eyes alone.
You can see Five thinking in that second gif, his eyes flicking left, left further, deep in thought for just a second. That is the thing you should be envisioning when authors say, “they could practice see the wheels turning in their head”.
In that first gif, Aidan’s compassion and softness, his quiet eyes, are contrasted by the sharp roll following the “obviously”, which makes the love being expressed to Dolores only that much stronger. It enhances the moment. See, because being too subtle the entire time makes it so the audiences don’t pick up much at all, they don’t feel it. And being too obvious makes you an amateur, makes it comical, almost.
When you’re strong in your craft, you’re able to make every single move in the most calculated of manners, but you make it seem effortless, make it seem natural. That’s incredible shit.
I’m by no means saying Aidan is perfect. He definitely isn’t. But, scenes like this showcase his experience in the field.
KEY NOTES:
Piggybacking off the subtlety discussed earlier, practice living in the moment. There is no real way to practice “being subtle” because it manifests naturally when the actor is living in the moment. Hence why this scene is so high on my list.
So learn to equate the emotions of your characters to your life. Tie your character’s life into yourself, somehow, all while keeping a safe distance. It’s by no means easy, and it takes years to learn how to do that, how to express naturally and not force a single thing. Being vulnerable, and raw, and flawed like that is hard, since so many people are taught that flaws are shameful, that perfection is required for success. But acting, like much of the arts, require you to unravel that believe and be truly vulnerable, exposed to possibly millions of viewers.
So learn to live in the moment. That will shield you all whilst letting you live freely as the character and, therefore, express truthfully and subtly.
Next!
Tumblr media
Remember my rant about subtlety?
Yeah, fuck that, because with this, we’re going to talk about going off the rails. But, going off the rails in a tasteful manner. The paradox psychosis scenes were a beautiful contrast to a normally stiff, calculated character. it was satisfying, and entertaining, and so fucking powerful when breaking down the psychology of Five.
So let’s hop into that:
Psychology is everything to a character, because it is everything to humanity, and people as a whole. Every decision made is dictated by psychology, by experiences and how those are compartmentalized and processed in the brain. An action isn’t done without it meaning something to the person.
And the same goes for every character made.
If you are a writer, you need to understand the actions and reactions of your characters based on their experiences and their psychology. If you just...write random shit because you want to, or because it seems funny or creepy, it may be good, but it won’t line up psychologically and it’ll show. It’ll be obvious to those of us that study this day-in-day-out.
The same goes for acting and actors.
An actor will be much more powerful in their role if they can understand their character’s psychology. The amount of empathy going into this is intense, especially for those playing “villains” or antagonists - those with flimsy morals - because you need to be able to break down, understand, and agree with the psychology of your character. It’ll make them so much more realistic and powerful.
That is why seeing Five - a normally calculated, sharp, careful character - off the shits is the best thing ever. And it’s in-character, too! He’s learned over the years that independence is the key to survival, that thought (as opposed to action, or outbursts) yields better results.
Yet here, in the scene, Five is relying upon Luther’s help. He’s trusting his brother. He’s acting irrationally. He’s skittish. And it’s such a beautiful contrast. Admittedly, this scene is more about the writing than Aidan’s acting, but it is still fantastically acted, and that only adds more to the realism, to the intensity, to the fact that it is so not Five to do this, and yet, it is very much so Five.
That! Is because of body language.
We know it is Five, that it is in-character, because it still follows Five’s normal body language, his gestures, his manic buzzing around despite his words sounding paranoid, despite his actions being rash. I’ve already spent a lot of time on this number already, so I’ll just demonstrate with a specific scene:
Tumblr media
He’s pensive as hell right here. Shoulders tense, shifting back wards. He knows what’s going on, he’s as terrified as he allows himself to be (because he can’t stifle it, perhaps), and it’s so very Five while also being not Five at all.
Tumblr media
Despite the music telling us it’s all gucci, it is not all gucci. Look at his eyes. They harden. They get dark. His demeanor completely shifts into caution. he swallows. Steels himself. This is the Five we know - a paranoid little shit - and yet, there is fear that is so uncharacteristic. All through Aidan’s beautiful acting. All through him understanding the psychology of Five perfectly. This is why it is required that you understand your character’s every move, every action, every line of dialogue, every thought.
So, this kind of shit throughout the entire paradox psychosis scene is just amazing. And it’s exactly for the reasons listed above. Aidan knows Five. Not only is he Five, but he knows Five. Inside and out. And god does it show.
KEY NOTES:
Know your character. Know them better than you know yourself. Deadass. Know them better thank you know yourself so that you can delve into the meat of their psychology and tweeze out exactly what you need to do in order to act them correctly.
Onto the next!
Tumblr media
This gourmet shit.
Time to get uncomfortably close once again.
Tumblr media
The jaw clench! The cheek tightening! The head tilt! The lips thinning! Look at that beautiful expression. See, acting, like writing, is all based on formula. Now, I’m going to out myself, but I’m autistic. Facial expressions, movements, twitches, etc. aren’t inherent to me, and understanding them and analysis them is a learned behavior.
Actors and writers, like me, need to understand the formula.
Clenched jaw + fidgeting + tightening lips = numerous things, ranging from frustration, to anger, to desperation, to pain.
But when you include the eyes.
Tumblr media
The eyes tell it all.
Small, watering, tight at the corners, knitted brows. All of these, plus our formula above, create the perfect mix of frustration, desperation, pain, fear.
He is frustrated with the situation, with Vanya. He is desperate to get her to listen. He is in pain because he hates to do this to her, hates to have to fight her on this. And he is scared because what if he has to fight her?
Actors are usually conscious - at least at first - about these movements. They learn to have complete control of their bodies, their faces, down to the muscle. Or, they should. I can’t speak for Aidan, because I’m not him, clearly. But I can safely say that, if he doesn’t consciously have control of his body and understand exactly what’s going on, then he  has some intense intuition about his emotions. He is able to perfectly display a mishmash of emotions, all perfect given the situation, the character, his experiences.
Aidan gives Five the multi-layering goodness that we analysis kids love because Five isn’t just upset. He isn’t just frustrated. He is frustrated on top of being scared, and agonized, and exhausted (you can see the weariness in his eyes; it’s all in the eyes).
KEY NOTES
I’m not sure if this would help, but try making a formula. If you are worried about your character not doing an emotion right, or wanting to do multiple emotions at once, craft a formula or a chart.
So, say you want depression and anger. A basic formula could look like this:
Depression = Hollow Eyes + Monotone Voice + Slumped Posture
Anger = Shaking + Sharp Eyes + Clenched Fists
Then, you can combine the two together. You can have hollowed eyes, and a monotone voice, but also sharpened corners to the eyes, and clenched fists. Here, Aidan is tapping into multiple things, things that have interwoven specifics to their formulas. That’s why it works so beautifully. His eyes scream agony, his jaw tightens with frustration, his eyebrow knit together with frustration--
Bless this kid and his acting.
Anyways, last but definitely not least, here is my final analysis:
Tumblr media
Now, this scene may not seem like the most intense acting ever, but in reality - to me - this shit is insanely powerful. It’s not just the acting going into work here; it’s the blocking, the dialogue, the pacing, the atmosphere, the emotional environment, the music and sound engineering...
It’s a fucking cinematic masterpiece.
But, since I am here to talk about just acting, and just Aidan’s acting, let me tell you about how this scene is made so good. There are two reasons:
One, is that Aidan is a master at post traumatic stress disorder and PTSD psychological processes and how that comes out in action, reaction, dialogue delivery, etc.
And two, he acts like a grown-ass old man.
Let’s talk about the second one first, because why not:
(apologies ahead of time for fucked gifs, this scene is impossible)
Tumblr media
This scene. It’s just a drink. Chill, whatever, right?
Wrong.
It’s the way he moves. The way he drinks. The way he holds himself when he is around Reginald, another man his age. Around another man his age that had abused him, had done him wrong, but in Five’s eyes, some whom he had done wrong, too.
Luther is the sibling that is always said to be in denial about their father’s wrongdoings, but a lot of people neglect the fact that Five is, too. He is just as much in denial as Luther, if not more so by the time season two wraps up.
And it shows.
It shows in the way he moves as if they were equals, when they are so clearly not. He tils his head, gives acknowledgement in the way old men do. The generational gap is closed by Aidan’s movements, not by his words. It’s incredibly satisfying to see Five’s psychology bleeding through as he instinctively shifts from “I’m dealing with a bunch of kids” to “I’m alongside a man my age, my father”.
And speaking of psychology, let’s please talk about PTSD.
Specifically, subtle show not tell of PTSD, all through the eyes.
Tumblr media
Right. Here.
Look, I’m not going to lie, if I analyze this scene, it’ll be the same things you’ve heard before. Everything I gushed about earlier is going to be repeated here for the ultimate finale on this long-ass fucking post.
But, humor me.
Five’s got trauma. Bitch has trauma for days. Though, he doesn’t wear it. He hides it, he buries it, because it is useless to him. Yet, it will always be there. His trauma of abandonment, and survival in the apocalypse, on top of the abuse from his father, the stress of his childhood, and topped off with the murder he had to shoulder for the sake of the Commission. Rarely does this show. Rarely is it seen.
Save for scene likes this. Right. Fucking. Here.
Aidan knows Five. And he knows the traumas Five’s endured.
Five can’t look at his father as he admits his failures, the snide, “I told you so” ringing through his head. He has to acknowledge that his father was right, that he was right all along. This is a burden Five has carried for decades, as seen with his discussion with Diego in 2x02. It’s not something small for him. So, to admit that...
The stare says it all.
His eyes are glazed over, lost in the past. He isn’t looking at Reggie, is looking past him. This is the thousand-yard stare you always read about. These are the eyes of agony, and regret, and a flashback. His eyes flick, flick to the side, towards the camera, as Five remembers something. Aidan knows how to play this. He knows how to play this trauma of remembering, of remembering what he had done to his siblings and how he has failed. And, finally, he is able to look and Reginald but he is choking back something. He swallows thickly, as if it’s almost sickening to do so.
Aidan’s understanding of Five, and his trauma and psychology, and expressing it all through his body language, and expression, and eyes. God, it’s fucking mesmerizing.
SO TO WRAP IT UP
Everything here is purely my opinion, but if I were to leave you with anything, acting (and writing) comes down to three basic things:
--Understanding the psychology of your character, through-and-through.
--Understanding your body, your expressions, your eyes, and how you react and can react to specific emotions.
--Living in the moment, and being present in the character’s life, being truthful to them over yourself.
These are the things that Aidan excels at. God, he is amazing at it. And I appreciate the hell out of it any time I see him. He is so truthful to Five, so honest to the character, that it’s beautiful to watch. Five is so flawed, so hurt, and so complex, and Aidan isn’t afraid to show us this vulnerability. I suppose that should be one last thing that all writers and actors and anyone in the arts should strive for:
--Vulnerability, pain, fear, and raw, oftentimes shielded emotions are not something to hide but, rather, are your greatest strength.

Poldark’s Aidan Turner on playing Leonardo da Vinci
The newly married heart-throb actor learnt to paint left-handed for his new role, and he’s still daubing now, he tells Ed Potton
Aidan Turner takes on the role of Renaissance polymath Leonardo
I’m trying to work out where Aidan Turner is Zooming from. Is it London, where he moved to in 2017 after his Ross Poldark became the drooled-over king of Sunday-night television? Dublin, where he grew up, trained as an actor and returned to spend the first lockdown with his parents? Or Rome, where he shot his new series, Leonardo, in which he plays a young Leonardo da Vinci?
“None of the above!” Turner says. “I’m in Toronto.” The enigmatic charm, feline eyes and gleaming locks that he deployed so mercilessly in Poldark, The Hobbit films and Being Human are all there. “My missus is working here,” he explains, and so is he. That’s the American actress Caitlin FitzGerald, his partner of three years, whom he met when they starred in the 2018 film The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot. At first I assume the “missus” is laddish affectation but it turns out that it’s official: Turner and FitzGerald, both 37, got married in secret in Italy in August after filming finished on Leonardo. You can almost hear the sighs of disappointment ripple around the world.
Turner won’t say any more — he is famously guarded about his personal life — but he looks insanely happy in the couple’s rented apartment. FitzGerald — whose grandfather Desmond was a CIA agent and organised several plots to assassinate Fidel Castro — is shooting a series, Station Eleven, in Toronto while her husband works on another project that he’s not allowed to talk about. In their downtime they’ve been watching I’ll Be Gone in the Dark, an HBO documentary series about the Golden State Killer, and, on a lighter note, Ottolenghi and the Cakes of Versailles. They share the apartment with Charlie, an ebullient Norfolk terrier that Turner has to eject from the room halfway through our interview when he starts yapping. “I’m surprised he behaved for so long,” he says
Eight-part series Leonardo has been criticised for warping history
Like many of his fellow thesps, Turner has been doing a great deal of lockdown painting. “We have a roof garden here and the light has been really good,” he says. “I probably shouldn’t be saying this because I don’t know if the landlord knows. It’s not messy work anyway!” Unlike some of his peers — I’m looking at you, Pierce Brosnan — he has yet to unleash his daubings on the world. How would he describe his style? “I struggle to say abstract, but I haven’t quite figured out what it is yet.” Did it help with playing Leonardo? “I don’t know. If you saw my paintings, you’d assume very much not,” Turner says. He has a studied line in self-effacement, honed after years of “sexiest man on TV” questions.
Leonardo premiered in Italy last month and was watched by seven million, many of them doubtless keen to see Turner brooding in a succession of smocks. The eight-part series has been criticised for warping history, having the artist accused of murder and featuring an apparently fictional muse, Caterina da Cremona, played by Matilda De Angelis from The Undoing. Luca Bernabei, the chief executive of Lux Vide who produced the series, defended it stoutly. “Matilda De Angelis’s character did exist. She was a model Leonardo asked to paint,” he said. “We have been really careful in our research. But this is not a documentary, we are not historians and this is not a university history lecture.”
And if the history pedants are spluttering, the art pedants should be happier — the series goes to considerable lengths to make the painting look authentic. Each episode is themed around a different masterpiece, from the portrait of Ginevra de’ Benci to The Last Supper to the Mona Lisa, and the candlelit cinematography is often sumptuous. Turner’s research included a private view of a Leonardo exhibition. “I spent some time alone with the actual paintings, which was brilliant,” he says. “They’re just like high-definition photographs. I couldn’t wrap my head around the fact that a human had done this.”
Aidan Turner attended an artist’s boot camp before filming started
The series opens in Florence in the 1460s, with Leonardo a pupil of Verrocchio, played by the veteran Italian actor Giancarlo Giannini. Before the shoot Turner and his co-stars went on an artists’ boot camp (brush camp?) supervised by professionals. He says the hardest part was learning to paint, as Leonardo did, with his left hand. He compares it to learning to ride a horse for Poldark, which he pretended he knew how to do before going on a crash course when he got the part.
Brushwork was the same, he says. “I realised I had to get good quite quickly and look like I knew what I was doing with my left hand, which is more difficult than you would think. It’s keeping it steady — you find it just moves around a lot. Leonardo was very slow and precise — I think I got it down. After a few weeks you start picking up the brush with your left hand, it becomes natural.”
Leonardo was a vegetarian, Turner tells me, “and apparently later in life opened some sort of vegetarian restaurant”. He was also gay, something that, despite reports, the series does not shy away from. Was this Turner’s first time kissing a man on screen? He laughs. “Of all the things I was expecting you to ask next, that wasn’t one of them! In a lot of ways it was just another love scene. The fact that the gender was different — that was never a thing. No, it felt right. It didn’t feel any different at all. But yeah, to answer your question, that was the first time, which I’d never really thought of until now.”
What did feel weird, he says, were the Covid protocols. “Suddenly people are wearing masks and shields and hazmat suits. We had a big sanitisation machine as we walked in that would spray us. You take off the mask when you shoot the scene and it’s a bit strange for a second. Then you realise it’s the first time you’ve seen your co-star’s face that day. It’s not conducive to a very creative environment, for sure. But we made it work and nobody got sick.”
Turner spends a chunk of the first episode painting De Angelis, and both actors know what it’s like to be ogled. She has been asked endlessly about her naked locker-room sequence in The Undoing, just as he has been reminded of his shirtless scything scene in Poldark. Before that there was his lusted-after vampire in Being Human and his sexy dwarf in The Hobbit — branded a “dwilf” in some quarters — although that “definitely wasn’t the intention”, he says. “I think I just had less prosthetics on my face. My make-up call was 20 minutes and everyone else was sitting in the chair in the morning for three and a half hours. It wasn’t good to be around the other dwarfs in the mornings, that’s for sure.
“I get why people are interested,” he says of the ogling. “It’s just when it keeps coming up.”
We move on. According to a recent survey Cornwall has overtaken London as the most desirable place to live in Britain. Does he think Poldark played a part in that? He laughs. “Maybe we nudged a few people in the right direction. I think people forgot how beautiful that side of the world is. One of the first reviews of Poldark we read was like: ‘We can’t believe that this is our country, it looks like the south of France.’”
Could Poldark return, and would Turner be in it? If they stuck to the chronology of Winston Graham’s books they would have to leap ahead a few years. Maybe he could play an aged-up Ross Poldark in latex and fake paunch? “I don’t know if I’d be keen on the ageing-up thing,” he says. “It never really works. I don’t know whether they need to be too strict with that gap anyway. There’s the possibility someday, maybe. I enjoyed working with everybody on Poldark, from the writers right down to all the cast and crew. It really is like a family. So I’d be open to chat about it. But not for a while.”
Before that he will appear as the apostle Andrew in The Last Planet, the forthcoming biblical epic from Terrence Malick, revered creator of The Thin Red Line and The Tree of Life. Well, he doesn’t know for sure if he will appear. Actors of the calibre of Rachel Weisz, Mickey Rourke and Jessica Chastain have seen their performances in Malick films vanish during editing.
“You want what’s best for the film. And if you don’t fit into it, you don’t fit into it,” Turner says in the tone of hair-shirt devotion that actors tend to use when talking about Malick. With a cast including Ben Kingsley and Mark Rylance as Satan, the movie is meant to tell the story of Jesus through a series of parables. Turner doesn’t really have a clue, though.
“You don’t necessarily know what you’re signing up to. You’re signing up to Terrence Malick,” he says. The director has “a great way of working. Everything is around ‘where is the sun’ at this particular time. That’s our natural light and it’s all we use. So things happen fast. There’s no trailers, hair, make-up, we’re just all together. You don’t know from day to day what you’ll be doing. It’s quite renegade stuff. That’s the way I always wanted to work.”
It’s closer to the immediacy of the theatre, which is where Turner started out. The son of an electrician, Pearse, and an accountant, Eileen, he represented Ireland at ballroom dancing before falling into acting. After studying at the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin he acted in plays for five years and in 2018 he returned to the stage to rave reviews in Martin McDonagh’s The Lieutenant of Inishmore in the West End. Rave being the operative word — his performance was bracingly unhinged. “I can’t wait to get back to the theatre,” he says. “That’s what we’re looking at probably next.”
Turner’s character in The Lieutenant of Inishmore was an Irish freedom fighter, but he is reluctant to talk about the prospect of Irish reunification (“So I don’t get shot when I get home,” he told one interviewer). Culture is safer ground, and his native country is going through a purple patch with Sally Rooney in literature, Fontaines DC in music and the likes of McDonagh, Jessie Buckley and Denise Gough in drama. “It tends to happen in waves,” Turner says. “Coming out of drama school, Colin Farrell was such a big thing. When these actors really make it you can feel some of their light begin to shine on the industry back home.”
Like Farrell, Turner is an international star, although it has mainly been in period roles: Poldark, Leonardo, Andrew and his breakout turn as the 19th-century poet Dante Gabriel Rossetti in the 2009 series Desperate Romantics. It must be something about the hair.
That could be about to change, though. Toronto often stands in for New York, which suggests that his current mystery project has a contemporary setting. Does he yearn to act in jeans? “Yeah, you’re right,” he says with a laugh. “After Leonardo, I think tights and knee-length boots are out for a while.” Many would beg him to reconsider.

Poldark’s Aidan Turner on playing Leonardo da Vinci

Everything Wrong With The Umbrella Academy. Episode 2, Run Boy Run.
Link to the first episode!
Same disclaimer as last episode: This is all in good fun! I wanted to do a really nitpicky re-watch of the series and found some really cool and interesting things I didn’t notice before. This is meant to have a Cinema Sins-esque tone. However, I did take off a lot more sins than Cinema Sins would have because I do genuinely like the series and the people that made it possible. So all of the good things got one sin off and all the bad things got one sin added. This is a really long post, so grab some popcorn. If there’s anything that I missed, feel free to add it!
Run Boy Run
Grace started the Herr Carlson record before the kids even arrived. How are they supposed to learn if they miss the first few seconds of it?  What is the point of the record if they’re not even around to hear all of it?+1
The kids all have their hands on the chairs except for Five, showing that he will do something out of the ordinary. -1
Diego is causing property damage to Reggie’s chairs and Reggie allows this. Be consistent, show! Is Reggie lenient or strict? You could make the argument that Reggie doesn’t care about the chair because he’s rich. In that case, sinning for capitalism.+1
Klaus is already into drugs at the age of 13. We can see him rolling a blunt, and doing it quite well, presumably. +1
Ben is straight up allowed to read at the table. So then what is the point of the record if the kids don’t have to pay attention to it? +1
The kids expressions when Five stabs the table. The ones that we see are pure gold. Especially Klaus’s. Well done Dante Albidone. -1
Diego’s side eye when Five starts arguing with Reggie. This is the perfect expression for “my sibling is about to get in trouble”, so props to Blake Talabis. -1
Vanya’s side eye is also good. TJ McGibbon did well. -1
We see Five jump faster than a bullet, but he’s significantly slower when jumping across the table. +1
Reggie is a dick to Five, who just wants to explore his powers. We know that it’s dangerous because we see Five getting stuck, but Five doesn’t think that that is really a possibility. Reggie only talks in confusing ice and acorn metaphors. +1
Five’s face when Reggie presents the ice and acorn metaphor. -1
Vanya and Allison both give Five a look in this scene. This is what makes Five hesitate. Two of his siblings tell him it’s a bad idea, but he does it anyway because he’s a stubborn bastard. +1
Grace’s face drops when Five starts running out the door. Allison and Vanya also look absolutely horrified. -1
“Run Boy Run” is a little on the nose. Especially once you remember that The Boy is Five’s hero name in the comics. +1
No one cares that a 13 year old popped into existence out of nowhere when Five starts traveling into the future. +1
Easter egg! There is an ice cream cart outside the academy. If you’ve read Dallas, you know why I think that’s significant. Also, it happens to be my icon. -1
Five’s look of complete disbelief and horror when he is faced with the apocalypse for the first time. -1
“Vanya! Ben!” This has created a lot of curiosity in the fandom. In the comics he left before they were named, but in the show it looks like he chose to keep Number Five. Why? +1
The apocalypse looks very believable. -1
Title screen umbrella! -1
The awesome scene with Ellen Page and Aidan Gallagher continues in the next episode. -1
Where would Five have heard that rumor about Twinkies having an endless shelf life? It’s not like he was very exposed to pop culture as a kid. +1
Vanya doesn’t keep her Violin in the case. She leaves it proped on a chair, which is basically begging gravity to come and fuck up your instrument. +1
Five plays the pronoun game and doesn’t tell Vanya about Dolores. +1
The last thing Five heard for 40 years was Reggie’s stupid metaphor. That’s a sin for the metaphor and a sin for Five’s pain and suffering. +2
Vanya gives someone with a thirteen-year-old’s liver a few shots worth of hard liquor in a tall glass. +1
“You think I didn’t try everything to get back to my family?” This quote is Five at his core. It shows his exact motivation. Aidan Gallagher really could have screwed up with this line because it’s so raw, but the delivery doesn’t suck. Well done. -1
Is that liquor real? Aidan Gallagher’s face suggests that it is and he only takes two sips of it. Also, Five takes a sip when it’s just a bit, pours more, then takes another sip, and doesn’t drink any more of it. Sin for showmakers possibly giving a kid real alcohol and sin for Five only taking a sip after pouring a lot out. +1
However, if the alcohol is fake, which I really hope it is, sin off for Aidan Gallagher’s acting. -1
Five expects Vanya to believe his crazy apocalypse story. I had a hard time believing it when we were shown flashbacks as the audience. It wasn’t until they brought in the Commission that I actually believed it. If Five had explained the Commission, just like he did to Luther, then Vanya would have had an easier time believing him. +1
Vanya calls Five crazy and then expects him to not be hurt and want to stay in her apartment. +1
Vanya takes the pills after an emotionally charged scene. Pills-foreshadowing. -1
Five’s hands are shaking when he’s looking at the eyeball. This shows both his uncertainty, with this being his only clue, and shows that he is unwilling to leave his sister again even after she called him insane. -1
Mary J. Bilge. -1
The Lunar Motor Lodge has rates by the week, day, and hour. The Commission is super sleazy for putting Hazel and Cha Cha in a place that also rents by the hour. +1
Hazel and Cha Cha are an underrated duo. The “It smells like cat piss” dialogue is honestly really funny. -1
Obvious villains are obvious. I know they’re meant to be obvious, but it doesn’t change the fact that a show with a lot of subtlety just kind of thrust Hazel and Cha Cha in there with no subtlety at all. +1
Hazel stores the briefcase away and throws a screw, foreshadowing that this will be an important detail later. -1
No one, including police, notices the blinking and beeping, neon green tracker. +1
Patch is sort of right. Five made a jump in the middle of two of the local hires, which caused them to shoot each other. -1
“The guy had an eclair and the kid had coffee”. Patch’s side eye says that she thinks Agnes is getting her story mixed up. If we didn’t see what happened, then the audience wouldn’t believe Agnes either. Great acting Ashley Madekwe. -1
Agnes doesn’t stay in the back room. She crawls out so her head can dramatically pop up over the counter after Five leaves. This is a stupid decision on Agnes’s part.+1
Agnes is seen handling American money. Somehow we as a fandom didn’t notice this. Klaus also uses American money to buy drugs later in this episode. Sinning the showmakers not specifying which state at the very least, but reluctantly because I know that’s a reference to the comics. +1
“What other detective”. Camera cuts to Diego exiting Griddys. -1
Diego is a vigilante. What he is doing impedes the law. In this instance, we want him to stop Patch’s investigation because we know that the answer leads back to Five, which would be bad for the plot. However, Patch’s annoyance suggests Diego has done this to her before. How many murderers have gone free because Diego intervenes in Patch’s cases? +1
Diego did not consent to being searched and having his personal belongings taken. +1
Ebay exists but there is no internet or smartphones. What? +1
Diego thinks that this looks like a botched robbery. No way in hell does this look like a robbery of a doughnut shop in any universe. A bank robbery, yeah sure, but not a doughnut shop. What kind of doughnut shop has the kind of money that requires multiple guys with very large weapons, Diego? +1
The way Patch is described to Five by Diego in a later episode does not match the personality she actually has. +1
A whole crowd of people had nothing better to do than to watch the cops investigate a murder scene in a densely populated city. +1
Is Luther hitting his head after he wakes up a character choice? He does it again with the model airplane. After the low ceilings on the moon for four years, you would think that he would learn to duck. +1
Emmy Raver-Lampman gives an amazing performance when talking to Luther about Claire. -1
Allison has multiple posters of herself in her room. I am sinning for her younger self’s narcissism. +1
However, this narcissism goes hand in hand with Allison as a character. Props to the set designers for making these posters and hanging them up. It adds detail to Allison’s room and really shows who she was as a character. -1
“When Claire was little I used to read her books about the moon. I’d tell her her Uncle was living up there” Allison doesn’t remember that Luther was on the moon and therefore shouldn’t know about her divorce in the first episode, but says this in the second episode. +1
Luther looks so genuinely happy at being Claire’s personal superhero. -1
The ghosts torturing Klaus. +1
That fucking animal print thing Klaus is wearing. +1
Robert Sheehan is very, very attractive. This makes up for the monstrosity Klaus is wearing. -1
“You know you talk in your sleep.” “Oh there’s no point. You’re out of drugs” I love Ben as a character so much. -1
“Shut your piehole, Ben. Said with love” smooch. I love this line. -1
“I’ve got a crazy idea. Why not try starting your day with… a glass of orange juice or some eggs”. Justin Min’s delivery of this line kills me every time. -1
Pogo is really vague about why the papers in Reggie’s box are important. If he said something about the papers detailing the Academy’s powers in explicit detail, Klaus would have tried harder to get them back. +1
We don’t see Klaus pull out the Red Journal in episode one. +1
“Liar” “Drop dead” “Low blow”. This is an iconic interaction for a reason. -1
Pogo knows that Klaus can talk to ghosts, but remains offended when Klaus tells a ghost to shut up. +1
“Really awful, terrible, depressing times” Reggie is a dick to his children. +7
Vanya sleeps with the door to her bedroom open, even though we saw her close it. So she must have gotten up to open the door and didn’t notice Five was gone. +1
Where did Five go all night? Did he sleep back in the Academy? It couldn’t have taken him this long to get to the MeriTech building, so what happened to him? He changed to a clean uniform, so presumably he went to the Academy, but why did the show vague this? Did he walk into a department store and buy/steal a clean shirt?+1
Only the plot relevant person notices Five. The front desk girl doesn’t question why he’s there. And that is her literal job. I would know, I run the front desk at a medical office. If you don’t greet the patients then you’re not doing your job, front desk girl.+1
“Must have just [click] popped out.” iconic.-1
Five decides that violence is the best course of action to get the information he needs, directly contradicting “I know how to do everything” +1
The 1938 fingerprints may be Five’s. However, police usually discard this kind of evidence because there is a very reasonable doubt. Not to mention that anyone could have touched the knife. It’s a public place. Forensic evidence is not as reliable as it is portrayed in the media. +1
Diego is an asshole to everyone, but especially to Patch. She’s right, Diego is obstructing justice. How many murderers have gone free because Diego interfered in an investigation? +1
Diego’s boiler room is way too big to be a boiler room. +1
Luther’s reflection in Diego’s mask shows that Luther wants to know what it would be like to be number two instead of number one. Luther can’t lead for shit and subconsciously wishes that he didn’t have to. -1
With an aerial shot of the Academy from the outside, we can see that Reggie never bothered to take the laundromat sign off the mansion or that Reggie sold ad space on the mansion exterior. +1
Reggie is a dick to animals. See: the animal skeletons and the taxidermy. +1
Part of the mansion is painted an ugly neon green for no reason. +1
“Sorry I left without saying goodbye”. The “both times” is unspoken. -1
Vanya apologises for calling him crazy and being dismissive, but still suggests he needs mental help. He does, but maybe suggest it later when he isn’t convinced you think he’s insane? +1
Five lies to Vanya about something stupid. If he said that he was having Klaus help him with the apocalypse, I don’t think she would have minded. +1
Why does Five have so many toys in his room? Including a baseball? +1
Klaus comes out of the wardrobe as loudly as possible. The mansion does not have sound proofing (see: I Think We’re Alone Now dance party). There is no way in hell Vanya didn’t hear him. +1
This is the last time Vanya and Five interact. +1
Five’s room is more childish than a thirteen-year-old’s room should be. It honestly looks like he was the favorite because his room has so many toys in it. Like Reggie wanted to win his favor or something. Sinning for the weird set design choice and for Reggie being an asshole. +1
The fake circumstances in which Five was born in their cover story gives me immense joy. -1
In one camera angle, if you look carefully they cut two takes of “what a disturbing glimpse into that thing you call a brain”. In the one where we can’t see his face properly, Aidan Gallagher is openly smiling. Corpsing. +1
Robert Sheehan is funny. -1
Syd the tow truck guy doesn’t really look like Sean Sullivan (actor that plays adult Five) enough for Cha Cha, a trained assassin, to not see that he isn’t their mark. +1
Hazel eating a sandwich in this scene. Also the “Italian for dinner line”. -1
And Cha Cha sees the differences between Syd and Five later! +1
“Time travel’s a bitch” “Especially without a briefcase” There's other time travel methods than briefcase or being Five? Elaborate. +1
Patrick is a dick to Allison. We understand why later, but really Patrick, you’re going to be an asshole when her father just died? Don’t get me wrong, Reggie abused the hell out of her, but still! Patrick should have let Allison talk to Claire. +1
Vanya tries to comfort Allison even though she knows nothing about the situation other than that it happened. She’s never even met Patrick! +1
Allison is clearly trying to get away from this conversation with Vanya, but Vanya presses on. +1
“Well if I wanted advice, Vanya, no offence, it wouldn’t be from you”. This is why Vanya doesn’t take Allison’s advice about Leonard. Also, Allison is a dick to Vanya. +1
This scene with Allison and Vanya is interesting. Allison is projecting her pain and taking it out on Vanya, who really should have seen and heard what happened enough to leave her alone. Both of them are the bad guy here regardless of how you slice it. I am sinning the show for this moment because they really tried to villainize Allison for this scene, but she does have some well thought out points and is in an emotionally compromised state. Or in other words, the fight between Allison and Vanya is stupid. +1
Grant/Lance/whatever gave Klaus and Five valuable office time. Doctors do not have time for this sort of crap. Shouldn’t this guy have patients? +1
Aidan Gallagher looks to the actor playing Grant/Lance/whatever as if he’s waiting for him to say his line. I see this all the time with younger kids in theatre, but they can get away with it if their character has a reason to look at that character. That being said, Five would have no reason to do this.+1
The sound effect that plays when Klaus slaps Five is really out of place. +1
Seeing Robert Sheehan slap Aidan Gallagher. -1
Klaus pauses as if he’s listening to Ben before he picks up the snowglobe. -1
The snowglobe. Robert Sheehan pretending to be Klaus pretending to be Five’s crazy dad. Acting. -1
Five looks like a proud grandfather when Klaus gets Lance to show them the records. -1
Five doesn’t pay Klaus for that brilliant acting. Also, how was Five planning to give Klaus $20. He doesn’t have any money nor do we ever see him with money. Five is a cheapskate. +1
Klaus calls Five “old man”. I thought that was just a fandom thing lmao. -1
“You must be horny as hell”. Great Klaus line, but super weird that he’s saying it to someone that looks thirteen. +1
Klaus is wearing the shirt that goes with his nicest outfit underneath Reggie’s pinstripe suit. -1
“Goodbye Dolores”, a song from the soundtrack, starts playing when Five starts talking about Dolores. This is good placement of that song because we later learn that he left her in the apocalypse when he left to work for the Commission. -1
Five is a dick to Klaus. Klaus is really trying to connect with his long lost brother, but Five jumps away. +1
That taxi driver doesn’t freak out and cause a car accident when a random kid appears in his car. +1
Also, how did Five pay for that taxi? Did he jump out of the moving vehicle too? +1
Leonard is so obvious from the start. So charming that he’s slimy. +1
Vanya can’t see this and is actually attracted to him. This may go back to that conversation with Allison when she asks if Vanya has ever been in a relationship. For all we know, the answer is no. +1
Leonard took three years of German in prison. I don't think American jails are that nice. +1
Leonard picks up another person’s instrument without their consent. As a musician, this is very, very painful. +2
Diego is paranoid, but also observant as fuck. -1
But how did he get his weapons back from the police? Are knives open carry in whatever state this is in? There are some states where Diego’s harness would be legal so it’s possible. I’ll have to look into this. Sinning the show for being vauge as fuck. +1
Luther didn’t notice the boiler room door open. +1
Diego throws weapons on his siblings. +1
Reginald Hargreeves died March 21st. The funeral is on March 24th. This is way too soon. It should have been a week or two not two days between the date of death and the funeral. Especially considering Luther suspects Reggie was murdered. And if you say that Reggie, Pogo, or Grace bribed them, then I’m sinning for bribery.+1
Diego eats a raw egg. Salmonella headass. +2
David Castaneda eats a raw egg. Why did you make him do this? It adds nothing to the character other than making Diego look dumb as hell. +1
Vanya interrupts her student while he’s playing and doing well. Whenever my teacher does that I get a minor heart attack. +1
Leonard is already lying to Vanya. He manipulates her by saying his Dad was into music and that's why he’s taking violin lessons. +1
An actual place named “Bricktown” in a place called “The City.” Sigh. +1
It is four o’clock when Leonard takes his lesson, but then after the lesson we cut to night time. What happened in those couple hours, show? Are you really saying that these characters did nothing interesting for all that time? +1
Emmy Raver-Lampman clearly isn’t smoking. Which is fine because she’s a Broadway actress and needs her voice/lungs for that part of her career. It’s weird because it shows that Allison isn't smoking. +1
Pogo scolds Allison for her language. Allison is an adult, Pogo. +1
Klaus made a drink at a young age and Reggie didn’t stop him. Or talk to him. He recorded Klaus drinking, but didn’t care. +1
The showmakers show us Allison’s face for dramatic tension instead of showing us the tape. This was a good choice and I feel it helped the narative.-1
They show a sign “Gimbel Brothers Seniors Tuesdays 10% Off.” after Five walks by. -1
The most awkward and dopey smile in existence when Five finds Dolores. -1
They play “Goodbye Dolores” after he finds her. That could have worked if they transposed it to the major key. Hello Dolores. +1
“Goodbye Dolores” transitioning into “Don’t Stop Me Now” by Queen. -1
This action sequence is great. -1
Hazel’s wrist splint. -1
Five cuts Cha Cha with a trowel. -1
The dual screen thing is cool. -1
Five literally jumps over a stand and somehow doesn’t get shot. Hazel and Cha Cha have Stormtrooper aim. +1
How did Hazel and Cha Cha leave? You would think the police would notice someone leaving through the back. +1
Similarly, how did Five and Dolores get out of this? Did he wait until he could jump and teleport outside the store? Can he teleport that far? +1
How did Diego get another police scanner so quickly? Unless that’s the scanner Patch confiscated? +1
“I gotta show you something” +1
Once again, Five should be a lot sweatier. What are these magic, sweat absorbing things you can buy in a department store and where can I buy them? +1
Five sees an eyeball and immediately picks it up for no reason. He doesn’t even know that’s Luther’s body yet. He just picked up an eye for no reason. +1
Five as a thirteen-year-old boy saw his siblings' dead bodies. Sinning for trauma. +1
Aidan Gallagher portrays this trauma well. -1
Overall Review:
I love this episode and had a hard time finding things wrong with it. I genuinely like this episode and I think that it could have stood alone as the pilot.
Some acting things I noticed, David Castaneda, John Magaro (Leonard), and Ashley Madekwe were the standouts this episode. All three brought something interesting to the table this episode and I look forward to re-watching their scenes. I wish Madekwe and Magaro all the best as I know that they probably won’t be returning for season two.
The plot thickens! Hazel and Cha Cha were introduced in a very obvious way compared to the subtle way they introduced Leonard. There is a reason I adore this episode, and it’s not just for Klaus slapping Five (though that is part of it).
Total: 52
Sentence: We saw Diego eat a raw egg. That’s punishment enough for this episode.

Umbrella Academy - Season 2 Thoughts
*SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS*
What I really enjoyed about this season was how it mirrored, contrasted, and complemented Season 1. In the first season, we met the individuals in the Umbrella Academy being defined by their powers and their relationship (or conscious lack of relationship) to them and their heritage. Luther staying on way past adulthood, Diego using his powers to play at being a cop, Alison using hers to create a fake life, Klaus burying his in addiction, Vanya not even knowing she had powers and being defined by her buried emotions...
Now, in Season 2, we get to see the gang defined by themselves - outside their family and their supernatural abilities.
But here’s the thing - even when they are living a “normal” existence - they are still outsiders. Luther and his “deformed” body being used by the mob. Diego and his paranoia landing him in the asylum. Alison being black in the 1960s. Klaus being gay. Ben being a ghost. Vanya being gay. How do we define who is on the outside and by what parameters? It seems all the Hargreeves kids are outsiders, powers or not. (And Five is the perennial outsider, a man outside of time and his own body.)
Along those lines...did anyone feel a sigh of relief when Vanya finally switched teams?
Ben keeps complaining about Klaus taking him away from San Fransisco. Even though it’s not explicitly mentioned, the Bay Area had a huge Asian-American movement (and population). Considering the political tone of the season, I wouldn’t be surprised if this was part of what Ben might have been pissed about. (Among many other things.)
It was also...so nice to see more Ben?
I really enjoyed seeing the siblings in very different combinations this time around - Diego and Five; Luther and Vanya; Diego and Vanya (at the end); Klaus and Alison (and Ray).
So the time travel thing. Young!Five basically pushes Old!Five back through the vortex/portal with the correct calculations. But is this the same timeline that births the “Sparrow Academy?” And what role would Old!Five have had in that?
This Season was a lot slower - and in some ways - a lot less quirky than Season 1. I sometimes missed the more “zany” feel of the first season, when everyone was still finding their footing and we were being introduced to these new characters/universe. That being said, there was a depth to this Season that was highly enjoyable, even if it did mean things got a little slow at times. I thought the civil rights storyline with Alison was really well done and a pretty unflinching look at race relations at the time. Same with Vanya and Klaus and their romances. While I find the Cold War to be a fascinating era of US history, I’m also really glad I didn’t have to come of age during it.
Ah, it wouldn’t be an Umbrella Academy season without Five having at least one good ol’ slaughter at some point.
I have to admit, I legit teared up at Ben’s second “death.” And the knowledge that he was only still around because he was too afraid to go into the light. (So...does that mean all of Klaus’s conjured figures are ones that were too afraid to “move on,” as it were?)
Okay, but a few questions. Firstly - was that Christopher Lloyd with Luther in the opening?
Tumblr media
(Would make perfect sense, tbh.)
Also, Ray Chestnut is Famine from Good Omens and *knows* how to rock a damned suit.
Tumblr media
Aidan Gallagher’s physical comedy was 1000% fantastic when he met his older self. It also birthed what, to me, was the funniest damn line in the season:
Tumblr media
It’s interesting how so much of this Season was, again, about preventing the apocalypse but also more about family relations and finding one’s self. And Kennedy’s assassination seems to be one of those (to borrow from Dr. Who) fixed points in time, something that has to happen. (It’s also funny that they chose to roll with an inevitable nuclear standoff if Kennedy had lived, as opposed to the Night Vale rendering of the same subject, which saw Kennedy become President for life. No matter what you think, his (and RFK’S) assassination was a turning point in American politics and society.
What was up with emo!Ben at the end? I have questions.
I enjoyed the Swedes. They killed people, looked menacing, and served their purpose without taking over the narrative, which was fine. We had a big, big bad with Hazel and Cha Cha last season. This season, the real antagonists were a lot more subtle and yes, the Handler and Lila were they enemy, but so was the greater American society, in a way.
I will say that last episode had a ton of fakeouts and was totally balls-over-the-wall insane. You knew that advice from Reginald to Five was going to appear again at some point, but still, the initial slaughter was...something else.
I’m pretty sure that we’ll get a Season 3 at this point. I personally think the show can go 4 Seasons and then be wrapped up. They’ve averted the apocalypse twice, now it’s time to see if they can stitch their family back together and put together the mystery of Reginald Hargreeves.
Compelling storylines although a little lower on the zany humor and at times, the story dragged a bit. A typical Act 2, as it were. 8.5/10 would watch again.

charactersssss (a constant wip)
annie morris … twenty-five. currently haunted by her paintings and doodles. how embarrassing! waitress, artist, medicated for an illness she doesn’t has. is actually just from a bloodline of cursed female creative types. more info can be found @tghluck. (fc: mary elizabeth winstead)
edward ainsley … sixteen years old, is actually fifty-seven, vegan vampire. utterly disliked by his vampiric peers due to his being turned into a vampire in his youth, rendered sixteen years old for life. has a tendency towards alcoholism in order to silence his cravings for blood since he deems vampirism altogether unethical. more info found @pastytwat (fc: craig roberts)
robbie moore … fifty. always one of those too big for his own boots kinda guys – one of the ‘i’m jumping ship as soon as hit eighteen’ types. that’s what he did, and that’s when he absolutely fucked it. ran his mouth too loud for too long and ruined any chances he had anywhere he went. robbie is a writer but his unwillingness to compromise with his work leaves him unable to find any real place in the industry. an absolute self publishing expert. to pay the bills he’s an english teacher but there’s no real passion for it. he came back to his hometown after struggling his way around the country and settled down in a marriage with his high school sweetheart that turned sour quickly. the pair never had children and were heading to a painful divorce when his wife passed away suddenly. years down the line and he’s still trying to wrap his head around it. jesus fuck this guy. (fc: marc maron)
tara shaw … thirty-four. owner of SHAWSPB, an independent publishing company ran (run? past tense…? it’s confusing) by one tara shaw, someone who needs to work on her social skills. as it seems, you can actually only reject so many people so many times before it bites you in the ass. more specifically (and more accurately), you can only reject so many people so meanly after you fire the companies’ reader because they’ve let one too many trashy reads out of the slush pile and you have to start wading through the heaving thing yourself. opening manuscripts seemed well and good and safe enough because all you’d be facing is words that were crappy in a worst case scenario, until late one night, you stumble upon something that a sour faced rejectee (yes, one that landed themselves with a personalised handwritten and very specific rejection from the woman herself) gets their pages in the pile. tara opens it and finds that it’s no story at all. it’s a string of nonsense – words that don’t exist, script she’s not sure she’s ever seen before, but transfixed on the page, tara shaw reads the thing front to back and the second she puts the papers down is hurtled into the space time continuum, left to float around in there til something grounds her back into the real world, when or wherever that is. it’s an act of karma, or something, and whenever she lands she pukes her guts out because that’s what that kind of thing does to the human body apparently. (fc: natasha lyonne)
genevieve walsh … seventeen. was made fun of in year six for choosing to go to an all girl’s catholic secondary school, her classmates saying that she would end up a lesbian. she did, though it was unrelated to her formal teaching. very unrelated. she has too much going on and is too moody for her own good. extra info can be found @genegrieve.
morrigan kenny … age unknown. bringer of the apocalypse. wanders earth with her way too long hair (it collects twigs and mud) looking for someone to spend the rest of the end with.
alex … thirty-odd (undisclosed actual age) years old. she is yet to learn to do her taxes, and is for all intents and purposes: a con-woman. arguably not an ethical profession, charging the old and the gullible for exorcisms and that of a supernatural variety while having no knowledge of the subject. but a girl’s gotta make a living — volunteering yourself for stand up gigs at the same place night in night out with little to no compensation doesn’t provide much. she’s a kind person, if you ignore the conning, and is decent to talk to. will give away any information. whoops. (fc: jenny slate)
lou webster … seventeen. modern prophet. refuses touch with good reason (skin on skin means she see the other person’s skin melting off, right to the bone). regularly sees the end of the world and it gives her stomach aches. (fc: natalia dyer)
liv o'dell … twenty-nine. screaming messy would probably win the lottery (the luck of her) if she ever tried it, multiple time accidental murderer. makes no sense. is rude. is annoying. has a surprisingly sweet daughter (kitty). more info @heavyroads
betty cloverfield … a twenty one year old motormouth who can’t hold down a single thing she’s meant to. she happens to have recently induced some type of magenta sensitive dissonance in her sensory processing that she can’t shake. it’s speculated by many that she’s taken one too many poppers and it’s taken its toll. (fc: kat dennings)

Freaks and Geeks
So this episode kinda makes me upset for a few reasons. I love Krissy, but wow child!
So this episode helps highlight some of the differences in Sam and Dean, how they feel about hunting and kids. Dean is once again firmly on the fence of gatekeeping hunting in the best of ways. Dean tries to keep anyone who isn’t a hunter out. Richi, Jo, Ben, and Krissy are some examples. He also tries to get other hunters to leave when they can, like Lee. Dean hates hunting, he hates how it makes him and others feel. He doesn’t want anyone to put themselves into that life if they don’t have to. The feeling is double that for children. Dean almost takes it as a personal offense when someone involves children into hunting. Here is another parallel between him and his mother, who also didn’t want children involved. I think part of that comes from the whole being raised in hunting and not having any other choice. Dean learned about the supernatural and monsters at the age of four, it’s practically all he knows. Dean is fully intent on not letting any other children live his childhood. So when he learns about Victor, who is teaching children how to hunt, Dean is furious. It is all kinds of wrong in ways that I can’t even go into. When I was a kid, I had loved stories about heroes my age. Now that I’m an adult, I hate the stories about kid heroes because they should be doing homework, going on dates, playing baseball. Not fighting for they’re lives. They are children after all, they have they’re whole lives to make decisions like that. Not die before they have a chance to make informed decisions and decide if it’s a war they want to be in or not.
And then you have Sam. Sam is all for it. we had the similar attitude from Sam before with Adam. Now Sam learned about hunting and monsters later. Sam didn’t learn about monsters until he was eight, and then he didn’t even start hunting until he was nine and in episodes like ‘The Girl Next Door’ we see Sam was sheltered from some of the more dangerous hunts, getting limited to more research roles. Part of that was John and Dean trying to protect him. Sam sort of has the mentality of ‘I didn’t get a choice so why should they?’ as well as Sam having chosen to hunt. We learn in the episode with Sully that Sam was the one begging to hunt, Sam was the one asking John and Dean many times if he can go hunting and they were the ones telling him no. It was only after Sam started to actually hunt that he realized he didn’t like it and wanted out. Sam doesn’t see the problem with it, that if the kids want to hunt they should be allowed. In this regard, Sam is a little more like John. He sees the hunting abilities as necessary for survival and is fully alright with a child learning to hunt. In anther way, Sam kind of wishes it was the childhood he had. A mix of normal and hunting.
Then you have Victor and holy crap this guy. This guy is a real piece of work. Now his very first point is something I agree with. They’re generation of hunters does have some issues. There was John, who I always will have mixed feelings about but love. Mary, which I guess second verse is the same as the first there. He lists out Martin, who went insane due to the job. He mentions Garth and Bobby, but those two are super good! Garth is such a sweetheart and saying someone dropped him on his head as a baby is just rude! And Bobby...alright, I loved Bobby and Rufus to death, but they had a few issues as in drinking and such. However they were pretty well put together men. Dean and Sam had suffered more than any human ever should, and hunting in general is not a rewarding job. You risk you life every day to protect people who never thank you, hide from police so you don’t go down for a crime you didn’t commit and your reward is to have one monster eventually be a step ahead of you and possibly end you quickly. I see Dean’s point here on why people shouldn’t get into hunting. Some like Jo view it in a romantic light but as Dean tries to emphasize, it’s dangerous and bloody and messes with you so much that your pretty much a murderer.
Victor decided to take matters into his own hands though. He wants to make a better generation of hunters. He has a vampire kill three families of kids that he felt had potential, then brings them all ino his home as his adopted children. He teaches them about hunting then has Seth go out and make vampires and create scenes and situations that will allow them to ‘kill the vampire that murdered they’re family’. He is assuming here that all three will stay hunting after they get they’re revenge. Although I see all three acting more like Sam and being like ‘okay, family avenged. I’m done hunting now’. That’d really jack up his plans.
While I have no love for Aidan and find him really freaking annoying, I like Josephine. Aidan is
I also love Dean’s instincts here. Dean is suspicious about all of this from the jump. He is the only one to notice the blue van, the only one to feel like the whole hotel incident felt staged. And Sam, being the brother that he is and trying to be understanding goes along with Dean, although he’s not sure he fully agrees with him. As the episode goes on we Sam loses the glamor of the life Victor paints to see all the issues Dean was so concerned about. We also see more of the rush both Dean and Kevin are having to close the gates of Hell. For Dean, the gates being closed means the kids like Krissy, Aidan, Josephine, Kevin, and all the others can have a normal life. Kevin sees it the same.

The Boy and his Doll
sup
I have desired to do another deep dive into the boy with no name, Number 5 there is A LOT out there about five so i am only going to look at one aspect of him, his relationship with Dolores.
Five, life was not kind to you was it, not that it was kind to anyone else in this story. but good god did he get the short stick. there is so many things to say about 5 but I will be talking about something i find strange or rather what i didn’t
5 ‘s relationship with Dolores
I noticed that no else really has that big of a problem with it (in story context anyway) either and i find that SO INTERESTING.
so i thought i would look at why that is.
I think one of the main reasons is that we are introduced to this relationship they way it started more or less. in that 5 was a kid when he meet Dolores a lonely, scared, distressed and isolated kid.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now we can gather that Dolores is very much a coping mechanisms that 5 used to handle his loneliness.
but Dolores was also something for him to take care of and protect,
1-dressed her in season appropriate clothes (sunglasses, warm hats in winter ect)
2-she acts as both his conscious and his doubts, as he says it is usually her that says he drinks to much or that she said the equations were off.
as so note that these are two attributes that 5 was lacking before he got stuck in the future, (not thinking things through and thinking he could not fail)
Tumblr media
But here’s were it gets interesting when we first meet Dolores the audience don’t know this (we can guess but didn’t see it until the next ep)
so WHY is it not weird, that a character that has so far been smart, rational and in control of just about ever situations they are in (arrogant and smug but still very much able to read the room, even if he acts like an ass). why is it that we look at the scene in the store and not find him confiding in a maniquin to be overzealous (even if you were a bit confused)
let me ask a simple question, how would you react to this scene if 5 had an adult body.
think about that, if this was an adult man holding and looking at a mannequin this way it would get a different reaction.
it would be played for comedy or it would be used to make 5 look straight up insane, unhinged or creepy.
not to say that it’s not played this way from time to time in the show (comedy), but look at the frames above and below and tell me that is not just heartbreaking
(Aidan Gallagher performance dose hold a big part in this, not taking that away him but i think this idea is just a lot easier to go along with if its a boy and not a man)
As it puts there relationship into context, this is the thing that kept him going, kept him company made him feel just that little bit less alone. The thing a boy found in the ruins of the world.
So we are introduced to her as a figure of support for 5
Tumblr media
Now someone has pointed out that Dolores means sorrow (which is perfect and i can’t find that post and it kills me)
BUT
if i may offer another point i don’t think has been said. what is a nick name that is common for the name Dolores
DOLLY
he literally called her Dolly. he was a scared little boy who needed a toy or dolly for comfort. (AHHHHHHH)
this boy, the boy needed his dolly to get through the end of the world.
But not just the end of the world, but when he is trying to save it.
Tumblr media
so Dolores is not just his companion but is also his crutch. as we know 5 does care about people (his family) but we also know that he doesn't like or deal with them if he can avoid it. Despite not having any real human contacted for years,
1- the only people he has really seen for 1-5 years (commission contract length) are the ones he has had to kill.
2- he can not trust anyone at the commission.
3- the time periods he went to are not anywhere near his life (JFK, Hindenburg ect)
so he never felt at home or safe when with the commission or any place they set him, so Dolores was his connection to his home and life the only thing that can tell him that they were real and waiting for him (other than Vanya’s book)
so when he is home, with his family and trying to follow the clues that his brother died to give him (the eye in Luther’s hand) he even enlist Klaus help to do so to no good end,
so when he finally realises that his family may be to far gone for this mission because 5 remember’s them as a crime fighting team (a good one at that). this was the moment when 5 realised they can’t help him even if he wanted them to now (i think he wanted them to help from the start he was just proud and did not want to lose them again)
(also note that he knew the were dysfunctional they always were but this is when he realised that they lose the fight and the world because his family is just so god damn incompetent,)
as he say to Klaus
“your useless every last one of you.”
note that he knew where Dolores was since ep 1x01 but did not go to get her until this moment. When he needed her, up until this moment with Klaus his path was easy (more or less, for a time assassin)
1-go to where the eye was made
2-find how owned it
3-find them
4-kill them
that’s it that’s all he had to do and he was so close and he felt it all coming down so he went to the only other person that he cared for and could comfort him
Dolores.
Tumblr media
now Dolores is a crutch as she is both the protector and the reminder of his loneliness.
as Klaus said he is addicted to the apocalypses and Dolores is tied right into it.
1- Dolores was one of the first things he found in the apocalypse (after his family’s body’s)
2- he took care of her all those years as the only thing he had
3- as mentioned she was the only thing that made him feel at home in him commission days
4-the longest and most powerful connection he had with anyone and their whole relationship would not exist without the apocalypse
5-in the end Dolores is the only thing he can’t really ever lose in that she feels no pain, she will never leave him, she will not die or grow old, she is the same as the day he found her and to five leaving in so much uncertainty that must have been a big comfort
But this also means that he can’t change or grow form the little boy that found her. as he put the his doubts and conscious on her and not himself so he can only ever grow in small ways through her and never completely on his own.
until his talk with Hazel about what now or what was only a what if question to 5 for over four decades
what do i do now the world is not ending? his answer
Grow up
leave his doll behind and grow but never forget what she did for him at his lowest and most vulnerable years.
Tumblr media
Dose this scene
.
.
.
.
.
.
LOOK FAMILIAR
Tumblr media
TO ANYONE
Tumblr media
anyway my point is it hits close to home as something most people have gone through giving up your toy’s, habits or something form childhood willingly even if reluctantly. and as i said before this dynamic works because 5 still looks like a kid (an older kid at that)
and the bittersweet truth of growing up, you have to leave somethings behind even if you love them but that dose not make them any less apart of you. but he needs to move on to bigger things, and he is not alone anymore.
Now when he put Dolores back he was fulling accepting the next part of his life, the life he can now have with his family and not just to save his family but to be apart of his family for the first time in years if not ever.
Tumblr media
he could have gone back by himself again but no he is taking them with him, because even if it is the end world he’s not facing it alone not again, not when he doesn't need to.
not when he has his family by his side.

Have ‘morally reprehensible’ Italy peaked too early?
Tumblr media
Get your views on Italy and much more in to [email protected]… Italy v Belgium I enjoyed both games of football last night but in particularly the Italy v Belgium game with so much attacking intent on both sides. What I do not understand is how Italy get away with so much, I guess I would call it cheating. It gets called gamesmanship or the dark arts but it amounts to the same thing. It was highlighted perfectly by the BBC commentators at half time and full time in relation to Immobile where, as ex-pros, they were all laughing and joking about his antics. Would this be the reaction if the game was against England? I suspect not. Many years ago, John Nicholson wrote an excellent article about a mate of his (probably a bass player or a drummer) who got away with things because of who he was and John likened this to Italian Football and the then Italian president Berlusconi. By John’s reasoning, Italy and their president got away with things that other countries/presidents couldn’t because it was expected of them. This still seems to be the case and they have almost become a parody of themselves. I have no affiliation with Spain but I do hope that they get past this highly skilful but morally reprehensible Italian team. Gwarrior (LCFC) Italy peaking Anything can happen in the semi against Spain, and I’m sure the best team will win, but is there anybody out there who still thinks Italy peaked too early? Dario (gutted for Spinazzola, he’s been immense) Club team Italy play like a really well drilled club team despite playing a very different game to the Italy I’ve always known (apart from excellent game management/dark arts). How does an international team do that? Aidan, Lfc (Based on my 1 game experience of watching Doku, and limited football knowledge, I confidently suggest Liverpool should sign him) Quick Euro thoughts… – Spain’s Pedri is an absolute talent, could easily see him becoming the talisman of Barcelona once Lionel Messi does leave – Switzerland did themselves proud and a few of their team put themselves forward for a potential summer move, Yan Sommer anyone? – Italy could just win this whole thing, really impressive blend of old style Italy and new style – Ciro Immobile with the finest acting since Luis Suarez against Norwich – Is Roberto Martinez actually a good manager because I just can’t tell – Jeremy Doku is going to be yet another player Rennes make an insane profit on in a short space of time Mikey, CFC Chip on England’s shoulder… I used to wonder why so many people dislike England during International tournaments. I now understand because I’ve joined the queue. It’s so frustrating and annoying to hear the English media seemingly proclaim England the best team in the world because of one victory…ONE VICTORY…against a team you all claimed were no longer the force they use to be. Suddenly, every other team has a deficit and only England is going from strength to strength… Really?…REALLY!!! The worst thing is you have been playing the worst football this tournament has seen(Yes it’s the worst. If you have the best attack in the tournament like you claim, you shouldn’t be parking your team’s aeroplane on the pitch). Nelson (I can’t wait for Ukraine to give you guys a thorough trashing so things can go back to normal.) Lagos. KDB When the pressure is on in the biggest games, the great players stand up and make a difference. Not for the first time, Kevin De Bruyne was nowhere to be seen when playing on the big stage. Jamie, Eire
Tumblr media
Dropping Sterling… First off, let me begin by saying I am not a fan of Raheem Sterling. He wouldn’t be on my fantasy team and I can’t understand why Southgate likes him so much. However, he is the leading goal scorer for England in the tournament and seems to be on a hot patch. How does dropping him make any sense? What other team would drop their leading goal scorer going into an important game? I would drop Kane, who let’s be honest has been woeful. Was not his goal also a tap-in? Yet the bias media celebrated the goal like it was some magical work of art. For Spurs yes he is magic, for England he has been below par. This same media is debating whether to start Grealish, he is England’s best player. He changed the last game as soon as he came on. I do think England will have enough for Ukraine, but Denmark will be a tough battle and could be the end of the road for England. Christian Gooner – Toronto Sterling right of reply… Enjoyed the replies to my Sterling email, less so the comments baselessly calling me part of the ‘Brexit/boo the knee crew’ and suggesting my analysis of some relative weaknesses of a footballer is based on ‘hatred’ – inaccurate, weird and offensive, ‘Luxongo’ et al. Sterling is a very impressive man on and off the pitch and has suffered deplorable abuse of all kinds – but it doesn’t make him (or anyone else) above fair criticism of his standard of play, nor does it mean anyone criticising his play should be associated with that abuse. Still, it’s useful to know how people must feel when they are ‘no-platformed’. Anyway – some perfectly reasonable opposing opinions (and it’s ok to disagree – I think?), but I have to take issue with Rob saying ‘ You simply cannot choose “whatabouts” over “reality”’. It seems he’s essentially saying that if you win, no one should ask: ‘what if we changed this, would we be better?’. A main point of my email was that if you rest on your laurels and don’t go through that exercise, eventually you are likely to come unstuck, just as we did in 2018. If you go through it and the answer is ‘no, we’d be no better’ then fine, but don’t stick your fingers in your ears and sing la-la-la at the process. I like John G’s comparison to Linker and Greaves because Sterling has obviously done well to be in a position to score his goals. There’s plenty of merit in that view if the idea is that Sterling and Kane are an old fashioned front two with Sterling as the poacher, but is that really the way people think we’re playing and the main role people expect Sterling to play? The other problem is that in 1990 Lineker played in an XI with Beardsley, Waddle, Platt and Gascoigne. Not quite the seven defensive players we deployed in the last 16. If it wasn’t already a long email, I would have said yesterday that I’m more (but not completely) in favour of playing Sterling if we revert to an attacking four for the rest of the tournament, but in a 5-2-3 there is pressure on Sterling to create and, as Derek points out, we create a ‘paucity’ of chances with him as one of our attackers, with a number of promising scenarios breaking down as a result of his decision making and/or poor touch (something that’s pretty hard to prove or disprove with stats). Anyway, assuming Southgate persists with Sterling, obviously I hope I am proved wrong – it’s just that there’s a difference between what I hope and what I think. Shappo The real ambition in the tournament With the hands of time ticking inevitably towards another great sadly leaving the game, it’s clear that one man at the Euros is seizing the world stage to show that he’s ready to take over. In a match filled with stars, only one has stepped up to make it about them. No hesitation, confidence in spades – he’s stolen the show. Michael Oliver is clearly the next Mike Dean. Ryan, Bermuda (a normal human being would err on the side of a yellow and go to VAR, but never Oliver or the great Deano. Own those game-ruining mistakes I say!) Time for a Sin Bin? Football is an evolving sport. VAR is becoming less intrusive as we get used to it. But for me it is the acceptance of constant fouls that now needs addressed. Trips, pushes, niggles that stop the game and often stop real attacking opportunities, but are not bookable until about ten have been let go. So time for a 10 minute sin bin. A punishment that will impact on the game, give the perps a real disadvantage, and stop them doing it. The evidence is there from rugby. The ref warns then bins. It would make football a better game. Tim Haaland dreams… Imagine this: Haaland stays put in Dortmund this season.  His goals output next season drops with Sancho’s departure. (Haaland’s father reportedly went “F**k…” upon hearing confirmation of Sancho’s transfer to Man U”.) Man U goes on a deeper run in CL say semi-finals… What are chances Haaland joins Man U next summer -to re-unite with the man that assisted the most for his goals, and with the man who coached him in the youth ranks?  Many ifs, but one can dream… Lionel, Singapore Salzburg is in Germany? Hi there, I’m not taking issue with Lee’s general point about the BuLi being a less physical league , but Takumi Minamino signed for Liverpool from Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg. Austria hasn’t been a part of Germany since, well, some unpleasantness that is rarely discussed in the British tabloids, and certainly hasn’t been mentioned at all recently… Dara O’Reilly, London Souey Anyone who doesn’t have a man crush on Graeme Souness is made of stone. Biggun’s in June, Tonka Teas, The Pig Saga (part 3) and some serious Boat Drama, Cedar Lake (New Prague) and Lake Minnetonka 6/21/19 -6/24/19
June fishing has been historically great fishing for me!  I’ve some serious pigs in June, and I’m not talking about the pork variety.  Generally, June sees fish coming out of their post spawn funk and ready to get chomping.  This is exactly what we experienced on 6/21/19 at Cedar Lake in New Prague.  The only thing is, the highlight of the night was quite unexpected.
I had a slight dilemma on my hands.  Nerd Alert: Josh and I had a good session of Call of Duty going.  We had one victory in the books and were playing well.  Mike texted and asked about fishing.  We had talked about taking my boat because his was in the shop getting some electrical work done.  I had a decision to make.  Fishing or Call of Duty.  The wind was blowing like a hurricane, which I hate.  But obviously, I still picked fishing!  I loaded the boat up and headed over to Mike’s.
Prelude to the Boat Drama (later in the blog): My boat trailer has been acting up.  The wheels have been getting blazing hot on occasion and smell like something is burning.  I knew something wasn’t right with the trailer which is why I canceled our Mille Lacs trip that weekend.  I didn’t want to take the trailer on a long ride.  Instead I suggested we stay local.
So local is what we did.  Mike and I trailered my boat over to Cedar Lake, a short 5 minute drive from his house.  We dumped the Nitro in the lake, and slowly made our way out of the shallow bay and toward the main lake.  Cedar Lake is a very shallow lake, known for it’s crappies, largemouth bass and occasional tiger musky.  Mike an I have fished this lake a few times together and had some decent luck.
We spent the first 30 minutes using side imaging to mark locations (rocks) we wanted to come back and fish.  We couldn’t fish them while marking the rocks because we were running the motor in about 5-7FOW and likely spooking everything around us.  We’d come back later and sneak up on ‘em with the trolling motor (if we could get it to work...)
We started on the eastern shoreline, a bit protected from the wind.  We hit it with jig, crankbait and spinnerbait.  Picking up a couple of very small bass.
We buzzed to the western shoreline looking for a downed tree that has ALWAYS produced fish on previous occasions.  Unfortunately, the bay was choked out with weeds this year which is very unusual because the lake floor is usually so clean in this area.  Anyway, it took us awhile, but we did find the tree buried in curly tail pondweed.  We fished it for less than 5 minutes before leaving.  Now that the fish have cover in all the weeds around the tree, they didn’t appear to be sitting on the tree.  Bummer.
We moved over to the prominent point on the SW side of the lake.  No bites.  We continued south, around the point.  I decided to slow down the presentation.  I tied on a shakeyhead with a 7” Motor Oil ribbontail worm.  On my fist cast, I landed just next to a dock post.  Let it sink.  Popped it two times.  It was buried in the grass.  Popped it again.  At this point the line started moving to the left.  Something had picked it up.  I set the hook hard to some solid resistance.  I started reeling it in telling Mike I didn’t think it was very big.  The fish came flying out of the water and Mike bellow out, “That’s a giant!”  The fish pulled around the back side of the boat before I pulled him in next to the boat.  Mike pulled him out.  He was a giant.  Although my scale had run out of batteries, we figured this fish was in the 4.5 pound range.
Tumblr media
We were getting hammered with the wind so we moved out of the wind to the eastern shoreline, fishing docks with shakeyhead and other more finesse techniques.  We were getting bit, but most fish were in the 10-12” range.  Not the size fish we were looking for.
We decided on moving back out on the rocks in open water.  Yes, the wind may make things tough for boat control, but we have Ultrex spot lock which makes fishing in wind less of a hassle.  Mike worked the rocks with a big jig while I went with the drop shot.  We picked up a couple more small bass and one crappie.  We moved down the rocky point close to the shoreline.  As the wind blew around the corner, there was a swirl in the water – looked like an eddy.  I cast right in the middle of it.  Right as I cast, Mike mentioned something about the swirl in the water and how I needed to cast it.  Great minds think alike!  Just as he said it, I felt a fish bump my 2.5” natural colored Gulp drop shot worm.  I set the hook.  Oh yeah, there was definitely a fish on.  The fish almost lethargically moved from the front to the back of the boat, staying deep in the water column.  I laugh when I think about that because deep in this area means the fish was circling the boat in 4-5 FOW.  It’s a bit surprising we could not see him swimming, but it was overcast, and the water is stained.  The fish worked the length of the boat two different times as I tried my best to reel in the drag it was pulling out.  My setup was either 4lb test line, and the only reason I was using such light line is that I had it setup for Aidan when he goes fishing over at Cobblestone for panfish.  After about 2 minutes of cursing myself as to why I didn’t bump up the line diameter on this reel, the fish finally came to the surface.  It was a musky, a big strong tiger musky!  An excitement came over the boat that doesn’t usually happen.  Musky are rare.  It’s said that musky hit on 1 in 10,000 casts.   For me, it’s probably more like 1:30,000. Mike and I both wanted this fish in the boat.  Mike netted the musky, which didn’t fit in the net too well.  The back half of the freshwater Jaws spilled out of the net, dangling over the edge.  Mike hoisted the net into the boat.  She was secured.
Tumblr media
Only the second musky I have ever caught and landed in my life!  This one came in at 44” long.  A true giant by tiger musky standards.
Tumblr media
We finished the evening fishing the south shoreline of the lake.  Neither of us had ever fished this area, which is surprising, because the shoreline was littered with downed trees, docks and lily pads One tree in particular, we mush have taken a dozen casts at with no bites.  We came back to the tree after a few minutes and casted it another dozen times.  Mike worked it hard with the lizard.  On his last cast to the tree, he was rewarded with this 3+ pound bass.
Tumblr media

As I eluded to earlier, Mike and I were supposed to take my boat up to Mille Lacs this morning.  But, with the trailer problem I was having, I decided to keep our fishing trip local.  Mike showed up at my house at 4:40AM and we headed off to Minnetonka.
We spent a significant portion of the morning fishing the bridge between Crystal and Smith Bay as well as the shoreline of Smith Bay.  Smith Bay proved most productive as we picked up several smaller bass.  We looked for bass around Gale Island, Mahpiyata Island, the boat slip inlet around Narrows Bridge.  We ventured further west fishing in Spring Park Bay, Black Lake, Seton Lake before moving into Jennings Bay.  Just before the girls were set to meet us at Lord Fletchers, I hooked up with this chunky little girl using a Strike King squarebill crankbait over a rocky hump just south of Deering Island.

By 1PM, the weekend warriors owned the lake with their jet skis, wake boats and yachts.  The seas were fierce.  Fishing the main lake was out of the question.  Dyan and Rachel met us at Lord Fletchers for some great food, and drinks.  I think they were called Tonka Teas.  A little bit of tea, and a whole lot of vodka!
We all then made a crazy insane boat ride down to Menards.  The waves were so big, some of those in our party had bruises on their butts by the time we arrived.  The ride made for a lot of laughs.  We had more good food, and more beverages.  Before taking a final boat ride back to Grays Bay.  An amazing day on the water!

Mike put Pepa on the smoker around 8AM.  She cooked all day long and turned out looking a little prettier than her sister, George.

Around 4PM, Mike sliced her open.  She was done perfectly.  The extra week she lived allowed her to put on nearly 10 more pounds, and it definitely made a noticeable difference in the amount of meat yielded.

Seriously, with the amount of issues I’ve had with my Z19, I almost have to chuckle and look around for the hidden camera.  Nobody in their right mind would spend the amount of money on a brand new boat that we spent and be cool with the boat being at the shop more than it’s been on the water.   The boat went back to the shop first thing Monday morning.  I dropped it off at Cabela’s at 9AM.  The service manager approached my boat along with a technician before I even got out of the truck.  Nice, this was some serious service!  But it was short lived….very short lived.
Without even inspecting the boat, the service manager indicated everything looked just fine, and that the wheels were supposed to heat up.  As the service manager was doing his best job to send me on my way,the tech reached down and felt the wheel.  Blazing hot.  He pulled his hand away like he’d just had molten lava spilled on him. “Whoa!” he yelped, “that’s not normal.”  The tech ran off to the garage like he was in search of ice.  The service manager rolled his eyes and asked where I bought the boat.  “Oklahoma,” I responded.  But he cut off anything else I was about to say with informing me I clearly bought it from a “sh!tty” dealership that didn’t give a “rat’s @ss” about the rigging of the boat.  I was listening.  He informed me the dealership didn’t set up the trolling motor or Talons correctly.   The tech returned, with a jack.  He raised one side of the trailer.  Both wheels should have spun freely.  Both were locked up in place.  He lifted the other side.  Same result.  This trailer had major issues.  The service manager now believed it was shot bearing and needed now brakes, pads and rotors.  I would be leaving the boat with them today.  I also told him about the intermittent power and the problematic release cable on the trolling motor.  They said they would look at it.
Later in the afternoon, Cabelas called saying the boat and trailer were fixed up and ready to be picked up.  Upon arriving, the service manager again met me in the parking lot.  He said they fixed the bearings, and e-brake.  He then went on to tell me that they re-rigged my Talons and are now done correct.  They also said they could not replicate the trolling motor issues, so nothing was fixed.
I left Cabelas happy to have my trailer fixed.  When I got home that night, I backed the trailer into the garage.  For good measure, I felt the trailer wheels fully expecting them to be perfectly cool.  They were blazing hot.  You’ve got to be kidding me.  Nothing had been fixed, or at least the problem had not been fixed.  This trailer needed more time in the shop.
National Dance Competition, Wisconsin Dells, 6/26/19
The girls have been so excited for this week for a long time now.  It was Nationals Week!  Lucky for me, all but one of the girls dances fell on one day, so I was able to drive to the Dells early Wednesday morning and catch  their dances.  As usual, the girls both received platinum awards for their dances - the highest awards given.  They’ve worked so hard all year. so I was thrilled for them that they were rewarded with such amazing results at Nationals!

The Calm before the Storm
Who: Aidan and Phoebe Tagged: @welshgameraidan @warriorqueenphoebe What: Questing and banter. Where: The Shadow Waste Word Count: 2.600
Aidan: Aidan was starting to get used to the quests, he wasn't as nervous as he used to be before. And he actually was glad every time there was a new one, because a new quest, meant more gold or level up, or even something else, but he always preferred when it was gold or when he leveled up, especially now that he wanted to buy a pet and needed the gold for that. He walked to his partner and smiled at her. "Are you ready ta go?"
Phoebe: Phoebe wasn't exactly the kind of person to get involved with quests. She didn't really like the idea of depending on another person. But by now even she realized that she couldn't avoid them forever, needed the levels if she actually wanted to survive this. And Aidan seemed nice enough, so when he walked over to her, she mirrored his smile kindly. "Ready when you are," she said, nodding at him to follow her as she started down the road towards the port. "The first thing we need is a ship that takes us west."
Aidan: "I 'm always ready" he said with a grin as he started to walk with her. "Yeah, and I 'm usually lucky when it comes ta that, there's almost always a ship there goin' ta where I need ta go" he so far didn't have any bad luck when it comes to that. "Hop up on my back, we will get ta the port faster" they weren't exactly close, and using his super speed would help them get there faster than if they go walking normally, his powers came in handy at times like that.
Phoebe: "Well, maybe I should keep you around then. Hope that some of that good luck rubs off," she joked, yet it wasn't quite untrue. Ever since she entered the game luck didn't really seem to be on her side. Her brows knitted at his unusual request. To her, it didn't seem to make much sense. "Wait, are you serious? You want to carry me?"
Aidan: "I wouldn't mind that, I should keep you around too, since you're so badass, maybe that would rub off on me, I am in need of bein' more badass" he joked, he was a cop in real life, so he was pretty badass, even if he was too modest to admit that. "It's 'cause of my super speed, I'm a vampire"
Phoebe: "You totally should. I can show you my bad ass ways," she laughed, nudging him in the side with her elbow. When he mentioned the word vampire, her eyes widened immediately. "Oh my god, you're a vampire?! That's so cool!" It took a second for her to regain her composure, but when she did, she decided that she might as well take his offer. Getting behind him, she placed her hands on his shoulders. "Okay, you ready?"
Aidan: "I would love that, I think you can teach me so many things" he played along, he loved to joke around like that, he waa a big dorky, so he feel comfortable to do that even with someone he just met, like her. "T-Thank you, I am flattered you think it's cool" he smiled softly and blushed heavily, before kneeling down once she placed her hands on his shoulders, so she could hop up. "Yep, go ahead"
Phoebe: "Oh, totally! I wasn't lying when I said I got moves." She winked at him before laughing, enjoying the friendly banter. "Of course it's cool! I would have loved to be a vampire. Super strong, super fast. That has to be awesome." It reminded her of how she didn't even get to choose her species and while she didn't think being human was too bad, there were definitely a few perks Phoebe was kind of jealous of. "Okay. One, two, three!", with that she jumped on his back, wrapping her legs around him so she wouldn't fall off.
Aidan: "I can't wait to see those moves, I bet you can kick a lot of ass" he ended up blushing lightly when she winked at him, he knew it was a playfully one, but he was way too shy, so it was something that he couldn't help. He hated it, but what could he do? "Why didn't you pick it?" he asked her, maybe she picked something else and when she started the game she regretted, but couldn't change it anymore, since they were all stuck in the game. He got up once again when she was already on his back. "Hold on tight okay, don't unwrap your legs" he held her arms and wrapped them around him. "Don't unwrap your arms either" he told her, not wanting her to fall down. "One, two, three" he warned her, before he started to run.
Phoebe: "Oh, I do. Who knows, maybe this quest will give me a chance to demonstrate." This time, her smile was only half because of their joking - the other half being amusement by his light blush. "Oh, because I didn't actually intend to play the game. It was just supposed to be a promo event for my new movie. I play  a human soldier, so that's what I got," she shrugged. When the game first started, she would do nothing but complain about this, but eventually even she had to admit that complaining wouldn't actually improve her situation. Nodding in agreement, she held on tight, squealing when he started running. This was amazing.
Aidan: Once they arrived at the port, he stopped and helped her hop off, now she was on the ground once again. "Wait, did you say somethin' 'bout a movie? Is it your first movie? 'Cause I think I may have seen you somewhere, and when you told me your name, I remember hearin' it somewhere" he could be wrong and could just something on his head. "So what did you think 'bout it? You liked, you didn't? Some people get nauseous" he said, talking about running in super speed, as he walked to the first captain, so they could ask where the boat was going.
Phoebe: "It's not my first movie." She hadn't made up her mind if people recognizing her was great or annoying or amazing, but for right now, she would stick with amazing. It actually was pretty good for her ego. "It's the third part of a series. So you may actually have seen me before." Flipping her hair just for show, Phoebe gave another excited smile. "It was so awesome." As they approached the captain, she placed a hand against Aidan's chest to stop him. "You know what? I'll handle this. I bet I can get us on this ship without having to break any laws." With that she walked over to the captain, all smiles and batting her eyes at him, trying her best to charm their way onto the boat. After a short conversation she waved Aidan over with a pleased smile on her lips. "Told you I could get us on the ship. And it's going exactly where we need to be."
Aidan: "I have, I knew I knew you from somewhere, you're a really amazin' actress" he was a fan, but when it came to celebrities, he didn't scream and freak out like some people did. He was actually pretty calm when he talked to one, he knew that some of them didn't like that, so he played cool, but that doesn't mean he thought waa awesome when he met one. "Well, I can run with you any time you want, just let me know when you want ta do that again, and you can just hope up on my back ans we can run" he smiled, some would think he was joking, but he waa serious, he liked to use his powers. "Hm... Alright" he stay still and watched as she talked to the captain, he wasn't surprise when she told him that she was able to get them in. "Of course you did, you're a gorgeous girl, you can get anythin' you want, all you have ta do is use your charm" he teased her with a grin.
Phoebe: "Oh wow, thank you." The smile she gave him now was different. It wasn't her regular, casual smile. This smile was wide and bright and proud. "Are you sure? Because that would be so cool!" She almost jumped with excitement at the offer and she was sure that she was going to take it. The captain was wax in her hand. From the second she started talking to him, he couldn't take his eyes off of her. "Damn right," she agreed, winking again as she got on board.
Aidan: "Of course, no problem, you probably hear that a lot" he said with a small smile, even if not everyone thought she was a good actress, a lot of people probably did. "Yeah, I'm always glad when I have a excuse ta use my powers, I love havin' them" he was a geeky guy, and he always wanted to have powers, so he thought was cool he had them now. Even though being stuck in the game sucked. "Another reason ta keep you around, 'cause you can get me a lot of free stuff" he blushed again when she winked once more, as they got on board.
Phoebe: "Well, not quite as often as I'd like to," she joked lightly, "but it's always nice when people appreciate your work." It was right. She worked hard and put everything she had into those movies and it was moments like this that really made it worth it. "Okay, Flash. I promise I'll take you up on it." Phoebe was sure she would. Why would she miss out on the experience when Aidan offered it so willingly? Vampire speed was definitely better than any rollercoaster. "Totally. Food, shelter, drinks. All I have to do is play extra nice." Quickly finding a seat on deck, she plopped down on one of the wooden benches, looking at the ocean as ship started moving.
Aidan: "I will say that all the time then, since people don't say it too often" he said with a small smile, as he sat down by her side. "Flash? Is that goin' ta be my nickname?" he said with a grin, who waa hearing them, would think that he was her friend for a very long time, because of the way that they were acting. But he just felt comfortable around her enough to joke, he could easily start to feel comfortable around someone like that. "I hope you will share those things with me" he joked. The boat got to their destination after a while, they talked, so it didn't seem to be such a long journey, which was good, would be bad if they had gotten bored.
Phoebe: "Hell yeah, it's going to be your nickname." To her, it was fitting enough and since Aidan didn't really seem to mind it too much, she might just stick with it. "Of course. Anything else would be rude. You deserve some reward
for carrying me around after all." It was insane how fast the time passed when you had fun. It wasn't too long before the boat stopped and it was time for them to get off the ship. Peering at the sky, Phoebe noticed that the sun was slowly setting. "Are you going to be okay? With the sun and all?" After all they were about to step foot into the desert; probably not the best place for a vampire.
Aidan: "Well, I don't mind it" he assured her with a small smile, there waa worst things that he could be called, Flash waa actually a nice nickname, so there was nothing to complain about. It wasn't like a insult. "That is true" he let out a laugh, but he was of course just joking, he usually didn't charge for that kind of thing, he wouldn't start in that moment. "Yeah, I can be on the sun, but not for too lon', so hopefully we won't take too lon' ta finish this quest"
Phoebe: "Okay, good. Just let me know if the sun starts bothering you too much, okay?", she asked, almost frowning as she looked at him. Getting of the boat was nice. The sand under her shoes was soft and runny, yet it was a lot more steady than the shaking boat. Opening her user interface, she quickly took a glance at the map. "This way." Pointing into one direction, she closed the map again and started walking.
Aidan: "I will, don't worry 'bout it" he assured her with a small smile, he took a while to be bothered by the sun. He was glad that he could walk on the streets while the sun was still up, would make the quests a lot harder to do if he could just go out at night, so he was glad that was not the case. "Alright, thank god for the map, unlesa you're also good when it comes ta directions"
Phoebe: "Okay, good." She looked at him once more, the frown on her face disappearing. "In fact, I'm good with everything. Including directions," she joked, patting his shoulder as she skipped through sand. Keeping her eyes peeled for something, anything, she let her eyes wander over the dunes. "This would be a lot easier if we actually knew what we're looking for."
Aidan: "Yeah? That's good, 'cause without a map, I would be lost already" they were playing around, but there was some true on his words, he wasn't exactly the best when it came to directions. "The creater doesn't want this ta be easy for us, he wants it ta be as hard as possible" he let ou a sigh.
Phoebe: "That's why you go me." Blatant lie. She was horrible with directions. But for right now, a little bit of self flattery should be okay. "Well, you know what fuck tha-" Suddenly she stopped, pressing her pointer finger against her lips. "Sht! Did you just hear that?"
Aidan: "And I am glad I do" he grinned, before she suddenly stopped talking and talked about a noise. "No, I didn't, what did you hear?" he asked her, trying to hear what she heard, holding his sword tightly.
Phoebe: "Steps. Shouting." She shut up for another second, pointing at a direction before she started walking again, hand tightening around the grip of her sword. "That way. Somewhere behind that dune." Slowly, she made her way up the huge pile of sand, looking down when she reached the top. That was when she saw it. An army in the distance, someone shouting orders. "Okay. I know I said I'm a badass, but even I can't take on an army. We need to get out of here, now."
Aidan: He followed her, his hand holding the sword, preparing himself to start to fight if he needed to. He didn't like that part of the quest, because he always got scared he or his partner would die. Once they got to the top of the run, his mouth widened, there was a huge army, he couldn't take them all. "Me neither... We cant fight with them, they're too many" he shook his head. "Come on, let's get out of here before they see us"
Phoebe: "You're right," she agreed, nodding absently, eyes still glued to the army. It took another long moment before she managed to get her feet moving, almost running down the dune. If they would get caught now, they'd be done. "We need to get back to the ship. The sooner we're out of here, the better."
Aidan: He walked with her quickly, the dune was getting each time smaller, until they couldn't see it anymore, and he felt a huge relief. "Hopefully they didn't see us" he said as he kept walking, looking back once in a while just to be sure, he was more worried about her safety than about his own.

Episode 9 - "I have a bad idea......" - Tim
Tumblr media
ummmmmmmmmmmmmm okay. so yk how i said I had a bad feeling? my bad feeling came TRUE klajdflskfajsdfa APPARENTLY when I thought everyone was on board for the Dani thing, all of my closest allies (Except for Tim, love that bitch) wanted to blindside SAMMY!!! in the process,,, blindsiding ME!!! so lets backtrack a lil,,, the dog emoji alliance (consisting of myself, Sammy, Tim, Chelsea and Devon) got exposed by Devon to Alyssa and Jess, and suddenly everyone knew about it lmao. AND Devon exposes the plan to get Alyssa and Jess out to alyssa and jess, and APPARENTLY there was a plan to get Maynor out??? no bueno for me. not at all. Alyssa/TJ/Maynor/Jess all explained why they did what they did,, and honestly? I totally get it lmao. as long as I'm included and I know about why they did it, I totally get it. I MEAN I may or may not have cried,,, but i'm at peace. ALSO,, i'm gonna try and give alyssa the benefit of the doubt and say she's on my side? it might not,,, seem smart sklafjdslfk BUT but but BUT,, I know I have the numbers and will keep having the numbers if Jones's Angels continue to thrive, yk? we just have to make sure that we're all on the same page from now on,,, then we'll be good!! Knowing that Jess and Alyssa were able to explain everything to me,,,, i really appreciate that yk? I appreciate when people are open with me, and I try to be as open as I can be too. so knowing that they did that made me feel a lot better about it :) but devon,,, oh devon. he's being super sketchy?? like he's trying to make it seem like he's the innocent one that DIDN'T flip on me when I know full well that he's the one who snitched on the alliance? like,, he doesn't know I know, but I can't get a good read on him, and that's p sketchy to me. I think I handled the exposure well though,,, I can't just blow up at people and cry, yk? which I didn't (except to alyssa but she understand why I cried skaldkjf) so yeah!! F11 baby!! guess i'll die!!
Tumblr media
Samuel leaving was honestly amazing for my game. His goodbye message not so much. However, if people will strike I just hope it's not this round. I do see people trying to take me out over Alyssa. She's way more connected and people love her.
Devon put himself into such a hole right now and I'm kind of living for it? I think him being the one to make this move happen will put a giant target on his back or at least put some seeds of doubt into others about him. I don't think I'd use my idol on him though.
Jones not telling Alyssa or myself about knowing Sammy was coming for us is her official first strike. It has put her on "Jess's Watchlist" officially. I don't CARE if she was "waiting" to tell us or if it "Wasn't that serious" you fucking tell us. That just proved to me I can't trust Jones and she's acting in her own self interest.
The MOST concerning thing about this current Jones situation is.... how easy Alyssa is dismissing the current situation and all of its red flags. Am I missing something? Because someone who we thought we trusted and have an ALLIANCE WITH.... knew about a plot to get us out, didn't either of us tell us, and is now mad at us for leaving her out of a vote to get out Sammy? LIKE WHAT? This just fucking proved to me that those two are mega-close and I'll be dropped the INSTANT I become useless. As soon as I threw a little bit of Jones doubt Alyssa's way she wanted to call with Jones? LIKE GIRL. I WASN'T BORN YESTERDAY.  RED FLAGS EVERYWHERE. THESE HOES AIN'T LOYAL.
Tumblr media
Tisk Tisk Tisk. I come back to the game and I see to my genuine surprise that Sammy has been eliminated from the game. I am genuinely shook. To my knowledge, Jones, Devon, Sammy, and I are the only 4 that voted for Dani. Someone who I have no idea is, voted for Chelsea as a security plan. The other 7 votes went to Sammy.
To my knowledge, Chelsea flipped on the group?? Which to me is super dumb and no benefit at all??? But then again it could be Devon who is lying to me.
UPDATE: DEVON IS LYING TO ME AND CHELSEA IS INNOCENT.
Devon you lying mothertrucker lmaooo. I am so disappointed in Maynor and TJ especially for not informing me or Jones about the plan. Now we look like Boo Boo the fool. I am pissseddddd lmaoooo and I wasnt even that close to Sammy its just the principle behind it all. Aidan disappointed me too because I had told him that the vote was Dani ahead of time in order to gain some trust with him and this mothertrucker didn't even tell me what was going on.
What is even more funny to me is the pathetic damage control that these people call themselves doing. I am.... disgusted. But DEVON is literally lying to my face and I am on the verge of confronting himmmmmmmmm.
Tumblr media
That was HUGE for my game! Sammy was playing a huge role, but I dealt with the circumstance poorly afterwards.
I am afraid that Tim, Jones, and Chelsea may lead a strike against me next round. If TJ and Maynor were smart, they would join that strike and knock me out.
My gameplay has been aggressive, but to the point where I may be losing jury votes. Hopefully I can lay low and keep the target off my back....who knows.
Tumblr media
I want to win this immunity because everything is still up in the air. It may not be me leaving but at the same time it can be. Im just nervous from last tribal.
Tumblr media
Well, this should be a fun round; not only for rebuilding but for strategizing the next move. How do I position myself correctly.
General groups that I have: Me, Alyssa, Jess, Devon, Jones, Maynor Me, Jones, Maynor, Tim Me, Dani, Aidan (with the help that came with last round)
So obviously my target should be Chelsea or JD because those connections are as easily there, but I feel as if there are divisions I need to make in other groups like Jones, Maynor, Alyssa (even though Maynor just told me he would go for Alyssa). So is this the round to cut those ties, or is there a different plan... I'm glad I'm not the center of attention right now, but damn.
Tumblr media
I am so sad that i messed up this challenge, I have full faith that I would have been able to do it too lol all well, shit happens. I feel like my name will be tossed around cus it would be an easy one I think. We'll see if I decided to play my idol or not :)
Also, im not sure if I brought it up here or not but I am playing the game different then i ever have before. Rather then  ... Caring about the game I am just doing what I want. Telling people what they want to know, or basically if they ask me a questions I am gonna tell them the answer to the best of my knowledge. Including, who said what :3
Tumblr media
This round one of the angels will go home. I promise you that. I feel like it could be either me or Jones but Maynor and TJ are also on the table. Me and Jones had a talk about what we think we should do this round and we mentioned blindsiding Devon. All we need is 6 votes and we think we can get them. TJ, Maynor, Chelsea, JD, Jones, and myself would be that 6. All we have to do is try and get Chelsea and JD on board which is gonna be the hard part.
Jones wants to hold out on the Devon plan but I reallly dont want to. The time is NOW.
Tumblr media
I am pushing for JD to go. She called me a threat in comps and i dont need that to be in anyone’s ear right now. I hope this works cuz need her gone.
Tumblr media
JD or Chelsea?!?! Idek.
Tumblr media
This round is so messy....JD is the biggest nut case in the history of Orgs....Let's pray for tonight
Tumblr media
Damn, Maynor really got over 2000 on his counting score. He did THAT. I swore my 1200 was going to beat everyone but he killed it. Anyway, I'm pretty sure Devon, Alyssa, and Jess want me out because we have not talked in the alliance chat since Sunday, when Sammy got voted out. Alyssa has reached out, but Jess and Devon had not, which leads me to think that they want me out. I am incredibly disappointed if this ends up being true. Tim brought up voting Jess and at this point I am not against it. I would like to work with JD, Jones, Tim, Aidan, and TJ, even Maynor if possible. Even though we haven't talked much, none of them give me any vibes of being total sneaks. *shrugs* idk, im probably gonna go home tonight so oh well. This has not been the best game for me but since I just got voted out of my other game, I'm willing to be more focused and make alliances if I do happen to stay another round.

If I could describe this round in one word it'd be: MESS My name is being thrown out so in the words of Devon "Uhhhhhk". I'm not too sure if I'm in trouble. I don't even know. I want soooo many people out at this point.
Tumblr media
Omg. All chaos broke loose. JD finally coming out to play huh. It looked like Chelsea was leaving this round but JD may have caused her own downfall. I hope because i want JD to go.
Tumblr media
So listen up here's a lot of Tea on this messy round:
I have a bad idea... If the two inactive people came online I swear I could make something shake sjdhs but Chelsea and JD are in and out like they're doing the twin twist.
(Tim approaches JD about voting out Dani by using her vote along with Chelsea, Jones, TJ, Maynor, and Tim ofc to get her out. JD then decides to say "fuck all that lmaooo" and runs back to Dani.)
Like JD are you DUMB why would you run back to Dani and tell her I said her name when IM making an effort to play the game with YOU especially considering that you're on the chopping block???
So I came to JD about maybe voting out Dani instead of her and Chels and she went back and TOLD Dani. Now Dani thinks Im pushing her name. She then runs back and tells TJ and TJ tells the Angels and then the Angels do damage control ajdhdbs.
Chelsea made a group chat of Me, Jones, Aidan and TJ with JD IN ITTTTT to talk about the vote tonight after I've told her that the vote is JD. Sis..... She then REMOVES JD and creates a big ole mess lmaoooo. I expose Devon to her and warn her about where Aidan's loyalties lie. The angels DIE of laughter and insanity. JD aka Justgonna Digmyowngrave is hopefully going home and thats tea.
Tumblr media
This vote is a fucking MESS and so many things happened and changed but I think Tim might be going home? or JD? But I don't want Tim to go home but I guess I have to learn how to be a good ally and not always get my way.
Honesty I'm just taking the game a few rounds at a time and really trying to situate myself comfortably.
Tumblr media
okay,,,, JD is cracked right now. lemme see if I can list what she did in the past 4 hours? hmmmm okay: - she told Tim that she wanted to vote Jess - told Dani that Tim, TJ, and myself are voting for Dani - called Chelsea and TJ a final two - according to Dani she's still being shady skskksks
AND JUST SO YOU ALL KNOW,,, I haven't talked to JD this entire day??? so like??? IDK WHERE SHE'S GETTING THIS INFO,, BUT clearly there's at a printer or something bc these aren't fax. likee,,,,, you really can't just show up to the game 10 rounds late JUST BECAUSE your name's getting thrown out. like,,, play the game or don't sign up for it, ok? it's not fair for the other people who actually came to play ig. idk. she's really making this easier for everyone else tho,,,,
ALSO okay, so i love Chelsea. but she made an alliance and added me (without asking me btw) AND LIKE,,, ahhhhhhh!! she also added aidan,,,, like,,, I love aidan,,, but of all the people to add to that groupchat,,, she chooses aidan? isn't he like, not trusted?? idk??? um but yeah now i'm in a new alliance with chelsea and aidan so that's nice :) more coverage on my entire ass. TJ and Tim are also in the alliance so that's cool too, and Maynor knows it exists this time, which is gucci. so yay :) hopefully everything works out? who knows, time to cry!!
Tumblr media
Please tell me something isn't going on... I'm shaking in my fucking boots... or socks at the current moment.

Episode 3 - “Weak trust is better than rivalry!” - Crow
Tumblr media
This tribe swap is insane! I'm just lucky to be the separated one with the idol in his pocket to use when necessary. These Odawa members might not be trusted, and I need to make sure that I don't get put on the bottom.
I'm glad that Bodhi talked to me. It shows that there might be something there and maybe I am not in such trouble in the beginning.
I am talking to Dana and Carson and I am praying one of them asks for an alliance. I would like to work with Carson and Dana and maybe Bodhi but none of those other Odawa members. I don't think i can trust them as much after those votes.
Right now I realize that I have no alliances in this tribe, and all I had is the Gallaghers. I can meet up with them at my own time at shoreline but I need to build some trust with Dana, Carson, and Luke to have some chance of opposition, because there is no chance us original Meskwaki and Wyandot would be safe otherwise.
I am trying to give Dana bait, but I think I will have to make this chat myself in order to make it a thing.
Then I ask if I can make the alliance chat, and Dana responds after all that time. Come on. XD
When Dana says she can't vote next vote, I froze. We had the majority and now it crumbled right in front of us. I don't want to have to use an idol to assume the majority, but it scares me.
I know that I have the power to completely change this tribe but I don't know if it is too early. But I picked David Wright as my player to represent me for a reason. I am loyal to the people I am with and I can't lose my allies. It's going to be a very difficult decision when tribal quickly approaches, and it will lead the way for my game, and possibly others.
When I heard Luke say "I have the idol" I nearly crapped my pants in joy. I really was conflicted about whether or not to tell people I had the idol, and I see Luke has one. It's really making my day!
Right now I am a bit nervous about the vote because I am scared it might be a tie. I hope this vote goes our way though, because if one of us is out, even if 4 of us voted against someone with us, those 4 would be screwed later on.

i want to flip on my old tribe soooo bad. i dont trust anyone there as i feel they are all complete sheeps (mearl and crow). i love them personally but they would betray me if offered a better deal. dan and I aren't close haha. i have to get some connections with the vets asap!!

Tribe swap! Whaddaya know! The split was......good and bad? I hope us former Meskwaki aren't targeted for having 4 of us, but hey, my alliance with Dan/Matt will help me here. PLUS I HAVE KYLE which means I didn't make a fatal error making a good alliance with him early (phew!) <3 Little scared that this might turn into a numbers scramble though....4 returnees, 4 Meskwaki, 1 Odawa, with 1 person on the clear bottom of both former Wyandot and Meskwaki here.....mess!
With the number of advantages/idols in this game (and the fact that I have none), I need to make sure my name is in NOBODY's thoughts as a vote because we've seen how one vote was still too many for Andreas....and if I go out, I sure as hell don't wanna go out like that!
So I asked Scott for an alliance privately.....and I'm doing it for me, not my whole tribal alliance. I don't like the numbers on the tribe because with Kyle knowingly at the bottom with a 4-4-1 split, I could VERY easily end up in the minority. Plus, I didn't really get to pick to work with my former tribe, it was just assumed, so I'm hoping that in branching out, I'll get defined as my own player and not just some former Meskwaki mafia member ready to take a bullet for the family...
YAS! We won! I somehow was the 3rd strongest (including Andreas) out of everyone which is bittersweet.....hopefully no one looks too deep into the scores or else I might develop a target. Anywho, I'm glad to be one of the last four people to attend TC! It gives me an advantage because I can keep my cards hidden for longer. Right now, without votes to go off of - people have to take my word for face-value, and that's actually a good thing considering I have conflicting alliances already...;) Weak trust is better than rivalry!
"Ew AP, I try to avoid those classes tbh lmao" I've taken 9 AP classes and have a rather nice score on both the ACT and SAT. My point? Not to brag or anything (hehe) But to show that everything I say has a purpose. I don't need the intellectual stigma to stick to me because that's instantly associated with someone like Cochran which turns me into a target!

I AM DEAD. I JUST WANT THE HOSTS TO KNOW THAT. ALSO REALLY STRAND CARSON AND I HERE ON MESKWAKI ALONE- RUDE.
I just exiled myself for a clue to the immunity idol that I most likely won't find because I'm garbage at finding them. I gave my cult alliance half of the clue in good faith- hopefully that will make them want to keep me around. I'm going to try to get them to add an additional member- hopefully Bodhi because I like him so that we'll still have majority in the next tribal council. Also i didn't give them the other half of the clue- because I want to keep some sort of advantage for myself- but my plan is if they somehow find out I have another part of the clue, then i'll tell them I got that while I was exiled as some form of reward. Importantly, I'm leaving out where I searched in hopes that none of them will make this same move I have- and I think my odds are pretty good. Also I have to find some way to tell my tribe that i'm exiled without causing suspicion..so that'll be fun.

This tribe is such a massive culture shock honestly, on Odawa the official tribe chat wasn't that active until after tribal was posted and even then most things happened afaik on the Odawa majority alliance with the most boring name in history's chat. I feel pretty damn shook being the only Odawa on here and admitedly I've been slumping in the social part (aka the most important one) but I really need to step it up here especially on a bigger tribe

I deadass typed OwO unironically what is wrong wi th me
Back in another game I played, there was a weak, physically inept player than just always managed to avoid elimination despite nearly always being the target, due to being in numerous alliances at once, and stupid ass people voted strong players out over himself. Come merge he would make insane idol plays and manage to take out all the large threats while keeping himself off the radar. He made finals but lost, but the VL flew into a rage. God I wish that were me....

TRIBE SWAP!!!!!! Ok, so we ended up with 3 former Meskaakaikaikaia, 2 returnees, and everyone from my tribe except Scott RIP 😥. Right now, the plan I to stick together and try to pull one or two of the other newbies in to take out the returnees. Oh yeah, and we voted out Matt BYE FELICIA
Grrrrrrrrr, we lost. I'm not mad about that, I'm mad that my alliance wants to get Adam out. I want to get Carson out. I want to get him out because A: He is a returnee B: He did the worst in challenges & C: He will probally align with Andreas. So I am suuuuuuuppppppeeeeerrrr pissed. I want CARSON GONE. Everyone is voting for Adam tomorrow. I might throw my vote to Carson just in case Adam has an idol

This swap is dangerous for some of my allies. I am very confident that I will make it out alive, just because there's no good reason for anyone to target me, but I'm not as confident that Kage will. I'm setting him up as a nice big target, and I have been since the beginning, so I wouldn't be so surprised if he were to be taken out now. I don't have any desire to vote Kage out, but if others do, I can join in. He'll bring me as far as he can, and I don't mind that one bit. He thinks he's in charge, so I'll let him stay there until the time is right. His gameplay is so erratic that I don't really think that he has a chance to win. Even if he gets to the end, there's this whole smear campaign from the kind folks over at redemption, which essentially sets him up as the villain. In reality he's fun to be around, but when he votes people out, he gets VERY rude. He gave Matt and Ashton fake advantages, and expects them to be gracious now that they're out? I don't think so buddy. As far as new allies, I really like Dana and Carson. I get along just fine with Eric, Adam, and Luke. I think I'll be very alright in this swap! Aidan is still my number one, but past that, I don't really care who I vote with. As long as I can trust that they'll keep me around until later, I don't quite mind.
So somehow Kage has come into power yet again on this new tribe! First on Odawa, he makes every decision, and we all go with him. Now here, because of Dana being sent to exile, it's an 8 person tribal council, and the 4 Odawa here are staying strong, and we've also included 3 non Odawa in the plan to eliminate Adam. Tonight, Adam is probably going, but there is a slight chance that the other 4 don't want to be on the bottom of this tribe, and they're just playing us, planning to take Kage out with an idol, or maybe forcing a rock draw. If there's the threat of going to rocks this early, I might have to flip on Kage. I don't want him out, because he is a PHENOMENAL shield, one of the best possible, but I also don't want a 1/6 chance of myself going home third. I have confidence that if I were to flip in the case of a tie, taking Kage out, I'd be fairly safe after that point. I have good connections with Aidan, Christian, Dana, Carson, Eric, and Luke. The only person on this tribe that I can't see myself working with is Adam, and that is exactly why I got Kage to target him. I'm not too firmly in any alliance at this point. There's the Odawa 5, the cross tribal alliance with Kage, Crow, Eric, and myself, and there's a bunch of openings with the other folks on my tribe. I'm only dedicated to sticking with Aidan, because we are such similar people. But I'm not entirely sure if I want to go to the end with him. I also don't plan to flip on Kage unless I need to in order to stick in the game. He is a shield and a goat in one, why would I ever get rid of that? Some people would look at going to two tribal councils early in the game as a curse, but I think it's quite the contrary. Hell, looking back, I probably should've thrown those challenges entirely! I was careful not to be too helpful on either, which probably was outright better than throwing, because it doesn't put a target on me, but I had absolutely no reason to want to win those challenges if the swap was going to be like this, with two equally sized tribes, this early in the game. Going to tribal council builds a large amount of trust, and if I had not gone to any tribals, I doubt I would trust Kage and Christian this much at all. I'd also have the chance to be on a tribe with a Matt or an Ashton, who are both great people, but neither of them felt like people I could put my trust in. Kage did a great job eliminating all of the obvious strategists, aside from himself, so now I don't think anyone from Odawa will flip on me any time soon. The other two tribes barely have any trust in each other. The other newbie tribe never went to tribal, and while people definitely talked, no one knows who is on their side and who is against them. The returnee tribe had a unanimous vote with an idol play. They only voted who they did because of inactivity, so they clearly weren't completely in the thick of the strategy. I'm definitely not laying as low as I want to be, but I don't think that I'm too noticeable as a threat. I might be the second biggest visible threat on Odawa, but that's probably not true. I'm not at all worried for Scott. He's on a tribe with 4 people from each of the other two starting tribes, so he's in the perfect spot to align with one of those two, and cruise for a bit. If he gets voted out, it's because he's playing poorly. I'd vote out a returnee in his position, but I trust that he'll play smart.

I HAVEN’T DONE A CONFESSIONAL IN SO LONG WHOOPS SO ANYWAY HERES WHATS HAPPENED SINCE I LAST DID THIS BASICALLY, WE WENT TO TRIBAL AGAIN (BIG SURPRISE) AND VOTED OUT MATT. IT WAS HIGHKEY SO BEAUTIFUL BC BODHI AND SCOTT BOTH PLAYED FAKE ADVANTAGES OR IDOLS, GIVING US OUT REP AS THE FAKE IDOL TRIBE, AS WELL AS INTRODUCING THE WORLD TO THE BEAUTY THAT IS THE IMMUNITY SNATCHER. SO IT ALL GOES TO PLAN, AND WE’RE ALL CHILLING IN THE CHAT, KAGE INSULTING BOTH THE HOSTS THE FUCKING DUMBASS, AND THEN WE GET THIS EXCHANGE: [00:40:40] kage hamilton: Plz forgive and give me free advantage? [00:41:10] Isaiah (Great Lakes Host): Lol, you'll get something alright AND THEN I GET FUCKING KICKED FROM THE CHAT?? SO IM SITTING THERE CONFUSED OUT OF MY GODAMN MIND, WHEN IM ADDED TO ANOTHER TRIBAL CHAT- MESKWAKI!! AND IM SHOOK BECAUSE IT’S A FUCKING SWAP??! BUT WE CAME OUT OF THIS SO WELL TBH, 4/5 ODAWA REMEBERS ARE TOGETHER ON MESKWAKI AND WE ONLY NEED ONE MORE TO AVE MAJORITY AGAIN. IN THE TIBE WE’VE GOT ME, OBVIOUSLY, THEN MY BOIS BODHI KAGE AND CHRISTIAN FROM ODAWA, CARSON AND DANA FROM THE RETURNEE TRIBE, AND THEN ADAM, LUKE AND ERIC THE OG FROM MESKWAKI. I’VE BEEN THINKING ABOUT IT EVER SINCE WE MERGED, AND I THINK CARSON AND DANA MIGT BE OUT BEST SHOT AT AN ALLIANCE. THEY’RE TOTALLY ISOLATED ON THE TRIBE, SO EVEN IF THEY FLIPED ON US AFTER WE GO TO TRIBAL FOR THE FIRST TIME, THEY’D ONLY MANAGE TO MAKE IT EQUAL, AND I THINK THEY’RE PROBABLY THE BIGGEST THREATS HERE, AND YOU KNOW WHA THEY SAY- KEEP YOUR FRIENDS CLOSE AND YOUR EMEMIES WITHIN FIRING RANGE OF YOUR PRIMARY FIREARM (IM SORRY FOR THE RVB QUOTE LMAO) I MEAN, DANA ALMOST WON HER SEASON, SO SHE KNOW WHAT SHES DOING, AND SOMEONE THAT KNOWS OW TO DO THAT IS DEFINATLY SOMEONE I WANT ON MY SIDE WE’VE ALSO GOT A CHALLENGE AND IM SCREAMING BECAUSE I CAN’T SPELL OR TYPE SO MY SCORE IS GOING TO BE SHIT BUT HOPEFULLY I CAN FINNALLY WIN A CHALLENGE IN THIS GAME, AMIRITE? *SLIDES AUSTIN AND ISAIAH TWENTY DOLLARS* I ENDED UP SUMBITTING A SCORE OF 2568, WHICH I THINK IS OKAY?? BUT THEN AGAIN ANDREAS GOT LIKE 24K ON LAKE REDEMPTION SO I HAVE NO FUCKING CLUE WHATS A DECENT SCORE ANY MORE. ALL THAT’S LEFT TO DO NOW IT WAIT, AND SCREAM INTERNALLY.
Just once I would really love to not go to tribal. Oh well, back to pre-tribal hell it is.

Hey you guys, its me. Its Andreas, and welcome to my episodial confessional. So I won the duel. I'd love to say im surprised, but once again I misted another newbie into not doing well. MY EFFECT HUH ?? So I dont have much to say, besides that I hope Kage comes here so I can show him who the worse player is, and then my homeboy Carson can be safe. Also, I found an idol clue and its so much effing searching. That can literally choke. Not much is happening on Lake Redemption. Im getting to meet everyone which is nice. I hope im not here for long, otherwise ill cry.

So fuckity fuck fuck fuck. WHY DO I NEVER WIN CHALLENGES? IT'S THE DAY I WAS PUSHED OUT OF A VAGINA, WHY DOESN'T THAT MEAN ANYTHING????????? anyways, oh well. tribal again. i'm used to it. i don't trust kage. i don't really trust anyone on my tribe. I feel like everyone is playing super hard and trying to have 324934 different alliances and i'm just a fat squirrel eating whatever pieces of food they drop for me. ugh. good luck self. I do have a solution though, because I know how Dana got to get exiled, and I know that's exactly what I'm doing to myself if i get through this.
Tumblr media
um heyyy its (week?) 3 idk we're about to have the third tribal. we lost immunity after the swap and ive been swapfucked before so i really didnt want to be swapfucked again but guess what! i did nothing and apparently kage and bodhi are already gunning for me.................... WHY they literally gave me a valid reason for carson to be voted out and are voting ME out for what reason?? idk. anyway im in an alliance with eric luke carson and dana (who cant vote) and ive been talking to aidan and hes super cool so i should be okay? i think? the only person on my tribe i 100% trust is luke. i wish dan was here. he formed the alliance between he luke and i :( eric luke and carson want to get out kage but idc who it is as long as its not me. luke said we might go to rocks... UGHHH why is this happening.
Tumblr media
Okay so we won again and I still haven't been to tribal *dab* so that's lit. I'm glad I'm not going to tribal because I've made virtually no connections on my new tribe. I plan on being loyal to crow and Matt. We pulled in Kyle for a number (I know gross but hey whatevs) and I think we have stoner and maybe Seth (honestly unsure if there is actually a Seth in this game I just can't think of his name rn) but yeah. I'm just pretending to like Korean dramas so roxy likes me.
This just in his name is Scott not Seth. Huh.

Ok so Dana being at exile has caused this tribal council to go to shit. The vote would have been an easy 5-4 with an Odawa member leaving, but now our numbers are tied. I don't think we're going to rocks, but its now a possibility. I'm extremely worried about that. The Odawa members think we're all voting for Adam, which is not the case. From everything I've heard, Kage was running the show there, and now trying to do the same here. That doesn't fly with me, which is why he will be getting four votes tonight. Kage leaving also frees up Bodhi, who Dana and I could use as a vote if needed. By sending Kage home, I'm left with a lot of options. Even if they get pissed that I lied to them about voting Adam, I have an excuse. They told Adam, Andreas, and Dana that I was the backup incase Adam had an idol. So what else am I supposed to do? However, finding out that Luke had an idol was very comforting! Because! There! Was! No! Point! Worrying! About! Any! Of! It! I wish he would have said something earlier because i almost went to Christian to flip since Andreas told me he was on the bottom. That would have ruined everything because Christian isn't ready to flip. Anyways, all we need to do now is play the idol on Adam, and Kage leaves 4-0. If they throw votes at someone else, you'll be seeing me sliding into Christian's pms to flip him to our side during the tiebreaker.
