I got some early copies in the post today and getting to actually hold 'em made me cryyyyy - I'm so happy and I still can't believe my art's gonna be in actual bookstores out in the big wide world 🥹💖📖
HatoKing? More like Hand-o King, but not, like, because of hand jobs 'cause she makes tons of hand drawing reference material! (I use these all the time in my own drawing.)
Made by the guy who created Hatoful Boyfriend, the pigeon dating sim. (The bio is in Japanese so I'm unclear on whether they made it are just a huge fan.)*
*edit to add: confirmed by @fluffyheretic: HatoMoa is the creator of Hatoful Boyfriend (a lady-king and I should have referred to as "she")

Pigeon King of Drawn Hand Gestures!
Made an unbelievably indulgent flash sheet for a tattoo artist friend inspired by the “out of this world bishoujo” page in the holy book aka How To Draw Manga~
A wizard cast the curse of "how to draw manga" on me, so now whenever I see a How To Draw Manga book I just gotta... Even if it means drawing the fin on top of the shark's head...T0T
They're so late for school core 🍞🌸
Drawings I did with my bff @halo-mango at a café :3
very quick tip* on what i prefer to see in lineart
lines want to generally be thicker where they connect and they should not sort of peter out and get thinner then leave a gap where they ought to connect - that’s basically the gist of it.
*tip i have heard from many, many sources much smarter, more talented, and more accomplished than I, which has improved my lineart greatly. You are free to develop your own artistic practice in any way you see fit, or to not develop it at all; for some art is a passion, others a profession, others a hobby, or emotional outlet. Many some combination.
Recorded this in sketchbook pro - almost my least favorite program for drawing these days but amazing recording feature that only captures strokes instead of a full screengrab
So, I found a PDF of my favorite How to Draw Manga Book when I was little and decided to compare my art to the art in the book! I think this is super interesting bc you can def see the influence, I think most in the eyes and how I put a lot of effort into clothes.
While I had been home for the holidays I had been going through stacks of drawings from my childhood. Then when trapped in the airport going home I decided to redraw one. The drawing on the left I believe I drew around the time I was 16 or so following a tutorial from a how to draw manga book. Hard to believe it’s been over a decade since then but hey I’ve improved!
I once saw an Instagram post saying “remember when we all drew big detailed hyperrealistic eyes in our notebooks” and I was like “haha nope I was one of the girls who drew big sparkly Christopher Hart manga eyes in my notebook”
Major props to the people who can draw realism though. I salute you.
Remember those 'How To Draw' manga books from the 2000s? I decided to grab the two most infamous images and redraw them in my style, to see if I could do them any better.
Not perfect, but hey, I managed to give the girl a more natural expression (and IMHO a much better crown), and toned that BUSH they called the guy's hair WAY down. So I like to think I did a good job.
If you 'like' my art, I kindly ask that you also reblog it.
