#Miles and Kamala feels right

I played Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and the fundamental problem I have with it is as someone who reads Miles Morales comics, I don’t see anything being remotely respected in that adaptation. Everything about his adaptation in that game annoys me from killing Jefferson in a way that is against his character, Rio being a teacher and then politician instead of a nurse, the portrayal of Brooklyn Visions not being an integral setting and obstacle to Miles, Miles being dependent on Peter up until the last stretch of the sequel, Ganke being the guy in the chair for both Miles and Peter, and moving him to Harlem because they didn’t feel like creating Brooklyn just feels like they cut corners for Miles to mold him around Peter. Not one character from Miles supporting cast not named Ganke or any of his own rogues made the cut. They even made Principal Evans who was a black male dwarf in the comic into a black woman. Even in his own game, not one collectible references anything about Miles alone but just his relationship with Phin or talks about how great Phin is. They mention Mr. Sumida. Hell in the original PS4 game before the remaster, Miles went to Midtown instead of fucking Brooklyn Visions. Everything feels like they wanted Miles in name only and it irks me so much because they never did that with Peter.
Yeah, this is such a complete thought I don't know what to add other than to agree. I do love new characters like Hailey Cooper, but the last time an adaptation felt free to almost completely replace Peter Parker's supporting cast and love interests with OCs they just made up was, like, the 1977 TV show. To some degree the amount of freedom an adaptation feels it can have depends on how long + culturally iconic the character's publishing history has been so far. But follow that explanation just a step further, and, well, it's not like it's a mystery why Miles has had a much shorter and harder to follow comics run, either.
Even Ganke being a constant here is so clearly because of Ned Leeds' presence in the MCU and ends up awkwardly tiptoeing around apologizing for someone else's theft of its ideas... I know that Judge, Billie, Tiana, even Kamala, they don't exactly represent iconic story arcs or character connections in the adaptation-driven public knowledge of Miles right now, but the way for that to change is for adaptations to iterate on and expand the existing base.
I'm also of the general opinion that Miles' whole character will never land as hard if it doesn't start with seeing Peter Parker die in costume in front of him but that might pose some problems to the structure of the video game LOL. I'm sure they could have figured it out if they'd wanted to.

have mixed feelings abt carol's perceived 'change' in this new run… on the one hand, i like that she ackowledges her past and i trust jed mckay to do right by her, but on the other CW2 writes the book on character assassination and it angers me to no end that she even has to dig herself out of that mess, instead of some deus ex machina just retconning the whole thing; anyone who takes carol for an autoritharian proto-fasc*st is just so incredibly off-base, but it saddens me that one single stupid book provides actual canon events to weaponize those arguments with :/
I agree. I hated what happened to Carol's character during CW2. That wasn't who she is. Taking any hero and making them into a fascist is horrible but Carol kept getting worse. And on top of that she had terrible hair. You know what, it was the hair. From what I've read of read of her recent comics, I've really liked how she's written. It's miles away from CW2.
I also hated that it did irreparable damage to Carol and Kamala's relationship. It's used as a reason for why Carol is bad for her and she needs to distance herself. And I hated that Kamala was blamed for certain things.

PROPAGANDA
KAMALA KHAN (MARVEL COMICS) (CW: Racism)
1.) One of the most prominent brown women in all of comics, beloved by the fan base. Recently killed in a PETER PARKER SPIDERMAN COMIC (despite being much closer with Miles Morales and having basically no relationship with Peter) in what’s probably the name of MCU synergy, which nobody wanted (she’ll probably be resurrected as a mutant, erasing her unique and interesting history as an Inhuman). She was using her shapeshifting powers again despite having stopped in her solo as she got more confident in her own skin and identity as a Pakistani American girl, died disguised as the very white Mary Jane as a fake out/last minute replacement for killing off MJ. I fucking hate it here. A cheap trick to drive sales. L + Misogyny + racism + are you fucking kidding me
STEPHANIE (EVERYMANHYBRID)
1.) Aw jeez. Starts out as a really interesting peripheral character with a lot of knowledge the main (male) characters don’t have and a unique voice and perspective, but almost as soon as she meets the main guys her role is reduced to Girlfriend, she gets vanishingly little screen time, and almost no attention is paid to her role in the larger plot. The story instead favors the male characters and their relationships. This is despite the fact that she’s metaphysically tied to the guys in the same way they are to each other (past life multiple reincarnations deal) - much attention is paid to the fact that the dude characters have this relationship to each other but this gets almost completely ignored for Steph! And then her boyfriend gets her pregnant (we hear nothing about it or her feelings on the situation until after her death) and THEN her boyfriend gets possessed by an evil murder entity who kills her. Also cannibalizes her infant daughter (yeah, for a misogyny bonus round, we know that the dead baby is a girl). After this, Steph disappears from the story completely - the next time she gets mentioned again is her boyfriend monologuing about how bad he feels about getting possessed and killing her. It’s a horror story, and during that point in the plot a lot of characters get killed off in grotesque and cruel ways - but it’s especially bad to the point of misogyny for Steph because 1. she’s the only woman at that point, every other female character has also been killed and 2. she gets so little focus and is not mentioned after her death except in the context of her boyfriend’s manpain. The other major character that gets murdered concurrent with this gets an eight minute video all to himself - Steph’s last appearance before she’s confirmed dead is less than a minute long and she shares the video with the death of a much more minor male character. It fucking sucks man. And we do know that her actress wanted to leave the project and had to be written out, but doing it in such a shitty, perfunctory way, having it be at the hands of her boyfriend, focusing on her baby and her boyfriend’s pain as if all that matters about women is their reproductive capacity and the fact that men have feelings about them sometimes - it’s bad! They put her in the fucking fridge dude!!! As an addendum - this one can’t be entirely blamed on the series itself because the fans came up with the nickname and the character approved it in the fiction, but still - before we knew her actual name, Steph was known as DAMSEL. christ alive.
2.) Completely Fridged. she was a promising standalone character and then the actress left the project and she went from Cool Artist with A Bone-Deep Lifelong Struggle with the paranormal to She Gave Birth And Then Died ¯(ツ)/¯ free my girl she should’ve done so much more shit
3.) She was killed by a demon possessing her boyfriend right after having their child and then both she and the child were literally never mentioned again except to underscore the boyfriend’s pain

May I request a story with Kamala Khan? She watches a Pinocchio movie and while watching, she wonders if she can stretch her nose like Pinocchio. She manages to do it, but her nose grows a bit too long. And worse, she can't shrink it. Scared at first, she's in awe as birds rest on her nose. She even manages to help a cat down a tree with her nose. The cat paws the end of her nose and it shrinks her nose back to normal, for a boop was all that was necessary to reverse it.
oh my god this is hilarious. okay, absolutely.
———
If there was one thing that Kamala Khan loved about shapeshifting, it was the potential that it had. There had been a time where she'd used her abilities to turn into her hero, a time when she'd believed nobody would take a brown girl seriously. Nowadays, she used her polymorphing for more than just heroism.
If Mr. Fantastic could, why couldn't she?
On a sleepy Sunday evening, Kamala was curled up in her bed. She was bundled up in her softest pajamas, with her hair braided so it would stay out of her face. From her phone, music rang out, filling the otherwise silent room with an almost magical tune. She'd been meaning to get around to watching Pinocchio for way too long, and it seemed today was the day for it.
As she watched the wooden boy frolic around on screen, an idea popped into her head: what would happen if she stretched her nose out?
She blinked, then held her phone to her chest as she stared blankly at her wall. Some people may consider that silliness an abuse of her powers but oh did it have potential. A wicked grin twisted at her lips, and she surged up, throwing off the blankets and springing to her feet. She tossed her phone onto her bed, and the sound from the movie became muffled.
Alright. First, she had to tell a lie, right?
She set her hands on her hips and thought hard, her lips pouting. "Oh!" she said to herself, bouncing on her feet as the idea came to her. "I... hate Captain Marvel." She willed her nose to grow, and grow it did. It stretched out two inches in front of her face, and Kamala shrieked with amusement.
"I'm a mutant!" Again, her nose grew. It stretched out further and further, growing thinner as the tip became a sharp point. "My favorite color is pink." Though the lying wasn't actually necessary for her, it did help her get into character, so to speak. When she ran out of ideas, her nose was over five feet long. She looked down her nose, then laughed. "I can't wait to tell Miles and Sam about this," she sighed to herself. "Well, okay." She breathed in, willing her nose to shrink, and...
Nothing.
"Odd," she muttered. She willed it again. Nothing. Kamala's eyes widened, and she stared in horror. "Come on, shrink!" She grabbed her elongated nose with two hands and pulled, wondering if she could force herself back into shape. "Come on!"
A pair of knuckles rapped on the door. "Beta? Why are you shouting?"
She turned her wide stare to her door. "Um, sorry Ammi! I'm just playing a game!" Her nose grew another two inches.
She could hear her mother shuffle, then sigh. "Well, stop yelling. You are going to wake up the entire house."
"Sorry," she whisper-shouted. As she heard her mother leave, Kamala slouched. What was she going to do if she couldn't get her nose back in place? Was she going to have to get it cut off? Change her name to The Magnificent Ms. Nosegirl? She'd have to drop out of school, and she'd lose all of her friends and teammates, and nobody would want to talk to her and—
She took in a deep breath. She slowly turned, cringing as her nose knocked over a few items on her desk across the room. She backed up until she could feel her window behind her, then pushed it up. She walked forward, turned to face her window, then stuck her nose outside. She climbed down backwards, hopping the last foot. It didn't seem like anyone was around, so she had that going for her, at least.
Kamala quickly hurried through the neighborhood and made her way to the luckily empty park. With a huffy sigh, she sat down on a bench. "I'm gonna have to run away," she whined. "But how can I do that if I hit something every time I move?"
A beat passed, and she laughed at herself. "I probably just need to concentrate. If I calm down, it'll go back to normal. It has to." She pulled her legs up on the bench and folded them into the lotus position, then dropped her hands on her knees. She took a deep breath, then closed her eyes and let herself relax.
Behind her somewhere, she could hear pigeons coo. She squeezed her eyes shut a little tighter, willing herself to ignore them. Calm. She had to be calm. She couldn't let anything distract her.
The pigeons cooed again. She heard the flapping of wings. Kamala tightened her jaw and breathed in deeply, then hummed softly to herself. Another coo and another sudden flap of wings, and then she felt a weight on her nose.
She opened her eyes, then shrieked, covering her face with her arms as several pigeons flew off her nose. Feathers floated down around her, making a circle on the ground around her. "Come on!" she shouted towards the sky, standing up. "Isn't there anything you can do?"
She heard leaves rustle above her, and then a soft "mrow?" Kamala blinked and looked up, spotting an orange cat fearfully clinging to the branch. "Can't get down?" she asked.
The cat, obviously, did not respond.
With a sigh, she approached the tree. "The Magnificent Ms. Nosegirl is on the case," she muttered. If she was going to have a weird nose forever, she might as well put it to use. "Here, kitty kitty." She angeled her face just right, then pushed the tip of her nose against the branch. "Pspsps. Here, kitty. You get down from there."
The orange cat looked at her strangely, and Kamala swore she could see horror in its eyes. She didn't move or back away, and just waited patiently for the cat to come closer. It detached its claws from the branch, then slowly approached. It touched the edge of her nose, and then once it determined it was steady enough, climbed down using it.
"Ow," she muttered. "Watch the claws." The cat got about halfway down, then jumped the rest of the way. "There you go," she said softly. She lowered herself into a crouch, watching the cat scamper away. "Bye, kitty. Be safer next time."
The cat stopped, then turned. It did nothing but flick its tail for a moment. Then, it approached the point of her nose. She watched quietly as its paw reached out, then tapped the tip of her nose. Then, it bolted, disappearing into the night.
"Thanks?" she snorted softly, then cringed. "Oh, ew, ew." Her nose rapidly began to shrink, and she gasped loudly as she leapt to her feet. Once it got back to normal size, Kamala touched her face to make sure nothing else was wrong. "Yes! Finally!" She quite literally leapt with joy, shaking out her hands as she laughed.
"Oh, man. I'm never watching that movie again."

Hey I’m a 23 year old superhero fan, is it wrong to say I found a lot of modern legacy characters from the 2010’s such as Miles Morales, Kamala Khan, Riri Williams as….boring?
Maybe i chemically mess up, but a lot of these legacy characters feel…safe I want to say? They never cause huge issues or conflicts themselves. Feel like 98% of the hero community easily accepts them and kisses their asses.
I’m been thinking making a Indian teen boy legacy character that becomes the Henry Ford to Tony Stark’s Thomas Edison.
Is something wrong with me? Idk, I just want something else besides the McDonald’s dc and marvel gives me.
Nah, there's nothing wrong with you. Comics just suck shit these days. Writing is all about presenting the right "representation", so minority characters are supposed to be liked by everyone because not liking them means you're racist, blah blah blah.
Remember that god awful Lady Thor comic where the bad guys were all spouting reddit-tier misogyny that sounded like it was ripped directly from a "and the whole bus clapped" tumblr post from 2013?
Comic book writing has gotten even worse since then.
If you want a recommendation for good comics, I'd suggest giving Eric July's The Rippaverse a try. It's a new comic universe built from the ground up to be like comics of old, where story and characters take center stage and politics and agenda pushing is left out completely.
There are already two comics out Isom #1 and Isom #2, written by Eric July, the latter of which is just wrapping up its pre-order campaign. They have three other books in the works too. Alphacore, written by Chuck Dixon who used to write The Punisher for Marvel and created the Batman villain Bane, and Yaira, written by The Soska Sisters, who make low budget horror movies and wrote a Black Widow series where Black Widow destroyed a child trafficking ring. Those will be released by the end of this year if all goes well. There's also an unannounced book also being written by Chuck Dixon that's probably going to be released next year, along with Isom #3.
You could also search the #IronAge tag on twitter. That has a lot of independent comics and other writing projects from people who don't like the modern woke comic industry and want to try and present something better than the current Marvel/DC/Image offerings.

i have 2 separate q's: did they ever explain why they made jess pregnant? or is that a men-writing-comics / misogyny thing? what do you hope for in beyond the spiderverse story and character-wise? i'm not fond of gwen (outside the trans-coding) so i'm a lil ticked she took a lot of the storyline when it could've been MORE miles (or even hobie, pav, AND JESS) and i still have hope for cindy and more anya and maybe felicia from the concept art ;_;
i think its a men thing. like she was a single woman with no real love interests at the time so what else do men think women do next aside from have children tbh like. what else is there for her.
as for spiderverse!!!! i would love to see cindy and kaine, more of anya and ben and miguel. miguel can fight any 15 year old he wants to just not miles. some resolution with miles and his parents is important to me like. hes such a family oriented kid. whether its because he tells them he's spiderman or they figure it out or he tells them as much as hes capable of telling them idk. spiderverse right now i feel is missing miles' key supporting cast??? where's ganke??? he gets a 2 second cameo whilst remixed mcu ganke but ned actually lives his life. right now it just doesnt seem like miles has any friends outside of gwen etc. theyre gonna have to figure out what theyre doing with alternate universes and im not sure how theyre gonna do that lmao like 616 merged so everyone is in the same place but i dont think that will work for spiderverse. but i also dont want miles to be shut off from others like him???? unless they give him some more people in his own universe to work with?? spider people or not. they could give him a sam alexander and a kamala

i feel like the superhero secret identity is slowly being washed away in movies and in comic books. like seriously think about how many superheroes have secret identities in, say, the mcu. like, pretty much none, right? all the avengers are pretty much celebrities.
Tumblr media
back when the fantastic four started, it was a big deal to have a team of superheroes all without secret identities, it made them unique! and it was because they were a unique superhero team different than what was coming out at the time. and they are a family, duh. but now that’s just like... every superhero. i mean, hell, in the comics superman doesn’t even have a secret identity anymore! neither does his son!! like... it just doesn’t make sense to me. i guess it’s not so much that “NOTHING CAN CHANGE EVER ABOUT COMICS”, but that secret identities are such a clear opportunity to mine drama from you are kind of cutting yourself off at the legs here guys.
if you go back and read old issues of spider-man, he is SO paranoid about his secret identity it’s perfect. like you believe this guy keeps his secret identity cause it will occasionally take you through the minutia of peter having to keep things under wraps, or his insane paranoid thought process about how someone will figure out his secret identity. but in modern comics you just get... none of that.
Tumblr media
(seriously this guy has issues, but that’s why he’s great)
a good counterpoint to peter is miles morales. his whole supporting cast pretty much knows his secret identity. and that is all well and fine, and it’s probably much better for his mental health, but at the same time it seems kind of uninteresting. same with kamala khan. i dunno. maybe i’m just overthinking it. but it’s kind of sad to see a major part of the superhero mythos just kind of fade away.
ah, when i was gathering images to put here i thought of more stuff. i think i’m fine with the shift away from the truly-secret identity in characters like kamala and miles because they’re the new generation. they’re not so paranoid, and are a little more in touch with their feelings, which i think is true of today’s youth vs. teens in the 60s. but in the movies it all kind of rings false because it’s NOT young people. it all stems from iron man, which ditches the secret identity because the movie thinks that superhero comic books shouldn’t be silly (eg. tony stark tossing away the “iron man is my bodyguard card”). so it’s all an extension of that way of thinking, which always got on my nerves. because superhero comics ARE for kids, or they were meant to be. and most of the best ones were written for kids ages 6-11. and yeah there have been exceptions but there is intention behind them that makes them good. like watchmen isn’t good because it’s “for adults”, it’s good because it’s good and adults happen to be the target audience. but not everything is watchmen, certainly not the avengers, and certainly not spider-man. blargh. this post because something else entirely.

i gave probably adked you categorically too many things but uhhh humor me, thoughts on the different "young" teams (like young avengers, west coast avengers, all-new all different avengers, and the champions + any other u can think of) which is your fav & why?
I love all these teams, absolutely adore them although non-comic fans that engage with them bug the ever-loving fuck out of me hold on let me go on a little rant
so mcu fans have claimed all the younger characters as young avengers which like why??? So this team according to the mcu is Kate Bishop, America Chavez, Billy and Tommy Maximoff (even though they don't technically exist yet), Kamala Khan, Yelena Belova, and Peter Parker. I try not to be the "um actually" person but like there's a point where you put a character into a narrative position that isn't theirs and then the character that is originally made for that role doesn't get to have it. Peter Parker is not a Young Avenger! he's a regular Avenger sometimes but frankly not often. Kamala Khan is not a Young Avenger she's a Champion!! And Miles is on the Champions, but when the mcu team up Kamala with a different Spider-Man it erasures any chance of Miles in the mcu. Not only that but because Peter is so fucking young in the mcu he's being shipped with Kamala by the fandom and like listen fans don't have that much influence but idk I worry especially since Marvel comics wants to keep Peter young. Like fuck Miles and Kamala have such a cute friendship and it's so weird to see her interacting with Peter in fan content. It breaks my heart to see Miles just replaced. Like it really gets under my skin that people are comfortable shipping a character that is 30 in the comics with another character that is 17. Like it's weird right???
Okay, that was a whole tangent. Of the MCU "young Avengers" only Kate, Billy, Tommy, and America have actually been on the team and America isn't even a founding member. Idk it's just weird to see a really diverse team from the comics be replaced with white characters and white washed characters (Marvel why isn't America Black??? Why you'd take away Billy and Tommy's Jewish and Romani identity???) Like at some point, it's not even about comic accuracy it's about fans not wanting to see people of color on screen or in fan content. I feel like I'm going fucking crazy no one else has a fucking problem with it I feel like I'm being gaslighted by the whole internet.
And to like actually answer your question I love the young teams in comics because they showcase legacy characters and by giving them a big team comic it only gives them more time to shine and they're not tokenized on an already existing team. Like I fucking adore the Champions because one Kamala and Miles!! but two they're engaging with deeper societal questions, even though it is a comic run aimed at a younger audience they don't pull punches, they say this isn't a problem we can punch away, it's not aliens, it's bigotry that's the true villain. In fact I think because they are aimed at a fresher comic audience they have the freedom to do new things and tackle tougher issues. They're fucking amazing and what I recommend to people who've never picked up a comic before
Also not be nit picky but the West Coast Avengers aren't a young or a new team. Volume 3 (the one Gwenpool was in) was kinda an outliner with a slightly younger hip team, but Clint was still there, kinda a passing the torch thing, but that was only 10 issues and we've got nothing since smh

Dude, Sherlock Holmes exists in Marvel. Mystique is literally married to Irene Adler. Most people honestly wouldn’t have a problem with believing Gwen’s real backstory, especially those with all their multiversal experience. Anyone who disbelieves it just have misunderstood the explanation, like Kamala Khan. Like her response just seemed so condescending I thought ‘Damn, they really have me disliking Ms. Marvel right now, and I love Ms. Marvel’, you feel me!?
I legit didn't know abt the Sherlock Holmes bit and agnsjsu???? I thought Mystique was married to Destiny or someone.
Also I don't know the relevance of this, unless people have made references to Sherlock Holmes being not real.
The issue that comes from Gwen explaining to people about her powers is that she's very insistent about people being Not Real. Not just heehoo in our universe ur made up, but categorically no room for argument this is all fake and being made by writers and artists.
Imo that will make some people uncomfortable, bc you would refuse to believe that you are being dreamed up. That's just a normal reaction.
Also Ms. Marvel as a whole doesn't exactly have much understanding of alternate universes. She seemed oblivious to the possibility that Spider Gwen was from a different dimension even tho Miles has referenced an alternate universe spider woman he knows multiple times to her.
There's just a lot of stuff like that that piles up and it's all confusing. Comics are like that. If they want Gwen to be Unbelievable then damn well she will be.

Right, but I mean that in-universe there’s an actual reason for that? Despite a sliding timline, Gwen very definitively entered the Marvel Universe in 2015, and beyond the occasional update on select things (in 2016 with “Beyond the Fourth Wall” and in 2019 with “EventPool”) she’s still at 2015 in terms of pop culture knowledge?
Eh- I think the writer tried to update it with COVID jokes….
But again… most comic book characters feel stuck in the past. I would say past the NXM…newer X-generations DON’T feel particularly “relatable” to the generations their supposed to represent -\_😕_/-
It’s funny because the original Generation X felt SUPER relevant to the 90’s and Pop Culture…
NXM/The Runaways/YA/ect FELT like great commentary on Millennials and the 2000’s….
Past Kamala/Miles/ect… I can’t think of any recent characters that really feel like strongly represent Gen Z; but I would say DC comics more or less HAS that same problem.
I don’t really KNOW what happened to teen comic books- but for the last few years they just haven’t felt relevant.
Most of the X-books feel like a mix of nostalgia and AGAIN the pop culture FEELS pretty outdated. Same with a lot of other DC and Marvel titles.
I would say it’s a problem of writers not really updating things than Gwenpool herself.

Inhumanity
The most recent chapter of Twilight of the Superheroes. Kamala Khan, the King of the Inhumans grapples with her role as King while a potential war is on the horizon.
-New Attilan-
Kamala rested with an uneasy mind as she stared up at the ceiling of her chamber. She was joined in her uneasy rest by one of her consorts, Miles. He was asleep, seemingly unburdened by the weight of everything that rested on her shoulders. She traced her fingers along his jawline as he slept, and he sturred slightly. She thought back to those days before everything changed. Kamala shapeshifted her fingers as she pulled away from his face, forming them into long, sharp talons. She didn’t enjoy it, but keeping it in her memory was important. It was a reminder that life beyond Earth could not be trusted. A Skrull wearing the face of the woman she admired the most tore Sam apart like a pit bull with a babydoll.
She thought on that moment; she thought about the feeling of her fingers stabbing through the Skrull and watching as their features melted, transforming back from Carol Danvers and into the proper Skrull features. Kamala then discovered that as that happened,  the Inhuman royals were finally taken out by Maximus. But, gradually, she pieced together their broken society, and they made her king for it.
A communications device dinged, and Kamala stretched her hand out to retrieve it. The image of Lunella’s displeased face appeared above the little box with all of its mysterious solid wires and circular outlines. She liked the device; the holograms made her feel like a character in Star Wars. Lunella was, by contrast,  not excited by the comparison.
“I hope I didn’t disturb you,” said Lunella.
Behind her, Miles stirred, and she exited their bedroom and stood in the corridor that connected the rooms of all of her spouses.
“Better now,” said Kamala. “Let’s talk; I know you wouldn’t bother me this early in the morning without a reason.”
“It’s the usual cluster fuck,” began Lunella. “My eyes in the new Genetic Council keep giving me horrifying reports. But I’m ready to send in a breaker if they decide to act against us.”
Kamala pinched the bridge of her nose; it wasn’t the first report she’d gotten from Lunella about the new Genetic Council. They’d stepped in once to prevent them from creating new Alpha Primitives. Lunella’s wonder machines could do anything a slave population could do, but she always found that this Genetic Council kept pushing and pushing. First, they tried to enforce ancient eugenicist customs on lower-level members of the population while directing ire at her. She considered methods of putting the council down, but wasn’t sure how to yet. A big show of power could castrate or enflame their beliefs throughout the population.
“Right,” she said. “Keep me posted on whatever happens…Is that all?”
“I received word from the House of Might stating that there’s to be a wedding between Valeria Richards and Gabrielle Kinney. A union between the Houses Fantastic and X,” she said.
Kamala winced, “If they unite, do you think they’ll bring war to us?”
“I think it shifts the odds towards that, yes,” she said.
She pursed her lips and stood with her back pressed flat against the wall; all she wanted in this world was to collapse into a ball and stay like that forever. Instead, she stood resolute and faced the flickering hologram of her second in command.
“We’ll talk with Cap soon; I want to have as much support as possible if the time comes,” said Kamala.
“What about a preemptive strike?” offered Lunella. “Hit them at the wedding before they can get at us.”
“Out of the question,” said Kamala. “Completely out. I want us to avoid war if we can, but we should be ready if it comes. We don’t start fights, Lunella.”
The girl’s mouth was pressed flat, and her expression was stern, “Fine. If that’s how you want to play it, then we’ll do it. I’ll call New York, and we’ll hash out what needs to be done.”
The device clicked off, and Kamala could hear a door nearby open; she turned toward it, expecting to see Miles, but it wasn’t. It was Nakia and Zoe standing in the doorway to their bedroom.
“Kam?” asked Zoe. “Is everything alright?”
Nakia said nothing, still rubbing the sleep out of her eyes.
“Yeah,” lied Kamala. “Everything’s fine. Need me to lay you both down?”
Nakia nodded.
Kamala tucked the communicator into her nightgown and vanished into the room with her consorts.

What is Peter’s dynamic with each of the Young Avengers? (Cassie, Kamala, Billy + Tommy, Kate, America, Riri, and Miles)
Just going off of my main verse and any versions I've interacted with, though I think that the only one of these I've actually interacted with are Noodle's @billytothemax and the Kate Anon in Peter's Recluse verse. I'm gonna go with a Young Avengers sort of verse for this answer though.
Cassie:
I feel like they would be at least passing friends in the beginning, he would have met her because of Scott being her Dad and probably bonded over having Avenger parents that they were always afraid to lose as a kid. Though Cassie did actually lose Scott for awhile there.
Kamala:
I've never really thought about it much honestly? Mostly bc I haven't interacted with any lol. But I feel like her and Peter would get along well, he used to sneak out to do the hero thing to before Tony, Pepper and May found out the truth. He gets wanting to help but not wanting to worry the people you care about.
Billy & Tommy:
Peter def sees them as nephews of sorts because of Wanda and Visions relationship, even though they didn't really have much of a chance to bond with everything that went down? Vision was in a sense Tony's child and in Peter's eyes that makes him & Vision siblings.
Kate:
Peter gets along pretty well with Kate, they do bump heads sometimes but I feel like with Kate? That happens with most people because she speaks up when she sees something happening, whether that be thinking a plan is bad or people suppressing things. He knows it's well meaning though and usually she's right.
America:
I feel like they would get along fine, but I don't necessarily think they would be bff's.
Riri:
I don't really know enough about Riri to say? I feel like at first he would resist going anywhere near he because like “this girl who didn't even know my Dad is trying to take his place wtf”
Miles:
LISTEN. I personally feel like the best way for them to do Miles in the MCU if they don't go with him being from another version of Earth is that Peter is the reason that he has powers, like the spider appeared because of the spell that strange and Peter did and that's how he ended up getting powers.
So I feel like Peter would both try to take miles under his wing in a way, but also feel guilty that he's the reason he's been thrown into the superhero life.

--THE AMERICAN IDIOTS—
June 26, 2022
Coffee Time: 5:09 pm
Paul McCartney and Wings, BAND ON THE RUN Miles Davis, PORGY AND BESS New Order, LOW LIFE Joy Division, UNKNOWN PLEASURES Joy Division, SUBSTANCE Echo and the Bunnymen, PORCUPINE
Day 3, post Roe Vs Wade Repeal.
I’m seeing people now blame Joe Biden and Kamala Harris for the Supreme Court decision. How fucked up is that? Last night, an activist friend posted on Instagram a “direct action” meet at Grant Park at 9 pm, wear black. This group then marched down Sandy Boulevard, committing as many acts of vandalism that they could. Somehow, we’re supposed to respect the activism of people who think the best way to fight the rollback of human rights in America is to smash the windows at our local Starbucks. This is how the right-wing wins. We basically resort to self-destructive acts that further the divide.
So few people understand the basics of American Government and the American electoral system. And what’s infuriating is that it isn’t really that complicated.
So many of my working customers had a lame night last night. I believe much of it is the SCOTUS decision affecting the culture as a whole. It’s just my impression and it seems to make sense, but I don’t truly know if I’m right. I feel funny about everything. A kind of shame and a sense of feeling wounded. I’m just sure that others must feel the way I do. How do you party on a Saturday Night in the wake of something like this. Of course, there was the oblivious asshole from the other night. He could party during a funereal.
The biggest menace is the persnickety desperate fundamentalism of many of my fellow liberals. The Democrats aren’t perfect, so they abandon them. This is divide and conquer in the flesh. Get the Milquetoast coalition in power and destroy the fascists: then worry about how much the powers that be fall short.

I’ll never understand why people want to ship Miles Morales with Spider-Gwen when Kamala Khan exists.

We've got Peter Parker, Gwen Stacy, Miles Morales and various variants of Peter Parker in film but out of the entire list of Spider people that I wanna see on the big it's these three and order of how badly I need them!

First off, Anya Corazón is probably one of the most underrated versions of Spider-Girl. She's Hispanic which is one of the biggest reasons I wanna see her on the big screen, I want more diversity (more than just Miles Morales and Peni Parker, like we've got Kamala Khan!) And her costume is just the best ever. She looks so cool and fucking badass!

Second is Mayday Parker, daughter of the OG Peter Parker. Ever since, <<spoilers>>

No Way Home opened up the multiverse, it's had me super excited for things to come in the entire MCU, especially the hopeful reprises of Tobey and Andrew as Spider-Man. It's never specifically stated if Tobey's Peter is married to Mary Jane but I really hope so because maybe just maybe they have a kid or plan on one, now I'm not saying this is the only way to introduce her but it might be hard unless we do more time travel (oh boy) but I'm sure they'll figure something out right?

Last but not least, Silk. Yes I'm aware that there is a Cindy Moon within the MCU but I'm not sure if they'll ever play that card but we'll see and I've seen that Sony has a tv show in mind which is why I'm not asking for Silk as demandingly as I am with the other two up above. I do love her though because of how different the outfit is compared to the other heroes.
So yeah, if I think of any more, maybe I'll do another one of these, who knows. It definitely feels strange trying to upload here more. I don't want to treat this like Facebook or anything but it is what is right?
