original characters make the world go round, but it can be hard to get people excited about them. but we're building a space to celebrate your love and hard work!

you can send in/link a post you already made or just make a brand new introduction to your OC and their lore, as in depth or simple as you like! and we will share it so more people can have a chance to see. we want to be your microphone to spread the news of your characters, new or old, serious or silly, dramatic or simple, elaborate or otherwise. we can also share links to things like webcomics, games, or other amazing things you've made or started making that star those ocs!

this blog is a curated gallery of your creative excitement. it is not a place to take other people's ideas or art, of course. let's share with the intention of also making others feel seen and heard, and make it a positive space for finding new creators to hype up. none of these characters belong to this blog, which should be clear. all art and ideas will be clearly sourced, and if you want more, you can follow the creator that is linked. for that reason, we will not take anonymous submissions of characters-- however, the ask box will be open for your thoughts. it would be lovely to connect people looking for collaborators! to be clear, fan characters are allowed (ie a character that you created, but that goes with an existing property)

we will tag content as appropriately as possible. if you would like to add on to your post or share that you have commissions open, we would be happy to spread that as well.

if your character has been reblogged and you would prefer the post be removed, please message and it will be addressed ASAP, but of course there will be no reposting or otherwise falsely claiming ownership of any content. we are spotlighting you! we are absolutely not taking or claiming anything.

feel free to use your own art, art that was made for you (with permission and credit, please), or art made with a tool like picrew. we will also share picrew makers that help us with the creative process! your post does not have to have art, either, but it may help in getting others excited for your ideas.

you deserve to share your OCs with a broader audience and have your hard work recognized! we would love to help you out. and if you love finding new characters to fall in love with, and new creators to adore, please follow this blog for more.

I love original characters a lot, and my favourite thing to do online for years is to look at and learn about OCs and share my own. SO I'd like to try this. Each month there will be a new theme for people to share their OCs that fit the theme. You can be as loose with the theme as you want, btw.

For March, to kick things off, the theme is Freckles! Share your OCs with freckles, spots, and dots. Share some fun facts or story about them! Encourage your friends to share theirs! And most importantly, interact with other users and their OCs!

Sound like fun? Here's how to join: Share a tumblr post with an OC that fits the theme in either the comments here or through an ask. Then I'll reblog that OC here. Simple! I want to give OCs the love they deserve, and I want to bring traffic to your original posts, so please submit a link to your post and don't just submit the OC details directly through the ask.

Also! This is NOT just for art. A lot of shares like this exclude other forms of creativity, but if you've got written bios about your character, if you want to share a short story about them, or you've composed music for them, ANYTHING AT ALL, feel free to share.

Drops in my boi Aster from my webcomic @spiritcallercomic . A kind-hearted traveller roaming the lands of Telania to help restore the imbalances and conflicts between man and spirits. Skilled in magic, fortune telling, and communicating with animals.

In contrast, an antagonist from the comic is The Crimson Lady. A masked entity delighting in chaos and destruction. Often aggravating conflicts to lethal results all for their own amusement.

In contrast to that, there's my sweet bean Gwydion and Goch the dragon from my other comic, @mythicmayhemcomic .

Gwydion is living in a magical cottage in a strang fae realm nook, cooking delicious food and welcoming guests from all walks of life. He loves sharing a good story. Meanwhile, the energetic and sassy Goch enjoys causing mischeif and stealing roast chickens.

Finally putting my post together for @ocmonthly !!

I could have just done Mythril again for the fish prompt, but every mermay I must rep my totally unnamed mermaid from my game Caught by a Lure. Unnamed because she's named by the player in game, but for the purpose of this post, I'll just use her code name during production, Blue.

Blue is a mermaid based on a black crowntail betta fish who finds herself caught in a fisherman's net before being brought to a research facility for oceanic cryptids. There she meets a researcher that she finds fun to toy around with, but their relationship evolves into something else. (and that's not necessarily a good thing)

As the player takes on the roll of the researcher, and I never did the reverse side of the story, Blue comes off as very mysterious, playful, and a tad mean-spirited, but that's largely a front on her part. She knows how humans view mermaids, and puts on a good show. Underneath it all, she's scared but naturally curious about the people she meets. She's very good at reading other people, easily seeing through the researchers' own masks, but she's pretty bad at fully understanding her own heart.

Outside of the framework of the story, Blue would still be a playful and free spirited fish gal. She has a naturally inquisitive mind that leaves her daydreaming often. (the life of a mermaid is pretty easy in this world, minus the threat of humans)

Also FORGIVE ME all this art is 6 years old now LOLOL

Name: Tomás Herrera (He/Him)

Notable Family: Mateo Herrera (Brother), Horacio & Lucía Herrera (Parents)

Tomás Herrera is a quiet, mild-mannered young man who befriends Camilo during the rebuilding of Casita. His succinct and reserved nature masks an observant and introspective mind, and while he doesn't say much he has plenty of thoughts and feelings inside.

Tomás lives in his childhood home with his father and brother, while his mother passed from tuberculosis when Tomás was 9. Though the men of his family make their living in masonry and construction work, Tomás has pursued woodworking can often be found in his private wood shop. The framework of most furniture is left to the carpenters of the village, but Tomás carves the intricate patterns and details into the grain, adding that flair that pulls a piece together. Another creative endeavor is poetry, but he'd rather eat his notebook than let anyone see it.

Initially the friendship between Tomás and Camilo is a very casual one. But as their bond strengthens, their opposites-attract personalities result in them growing very close with one another. Camilo is the energetic mischief-maker while Tomás is his level-headed foil, and it's a combination some people are surprised to see works as well as it does.

For much of his adolescence he harbors a crush on Camilo's cousin Luisa, admiring her for her dependability and selflessness (plus a lifetime of rescues here and there). He's reluctant to reveal these feelings, believing himself unworthy of her attention, but Camilo thinks he should suck it up and be honest before someone else does it first. In certain future scenarios he succeeds and courts her, eventually marrying her and siring one daughter named Lilia.

For OCMonthly March’s theme: Freckles!! I actually have a lot of OCs with freckles but … I have to go with showcasing Cassine. I mean. She is THE character with freckles for me, my ride or die; the girl who took me surprise and clutched my heart so much harder than expected.

Cassine facts!

Full name: Cassine Lathyrus

Originally a Fire Emblem Three Houses OC (Golden Deer represent 💛🦌) she now has a gazillion AUs and timelines (usually accompanied by @magodangretsus’s Aude, who appears in some of the art in this post with her)

Can use a bow and arrow no matter the au

Both her first and last name come from scientific names of flowers 🌷🌺🌸

In modern/low- or no-fantasy settings she is usually a veterinarian or something similar

Loves parkour/reckless behavior

In Pokémon aus her Oddish/Gloom/Vileplume’s name is Freckles! (She raises him from Oddish to Vileplume)

What more can I say except I originally planned on her being a pretty minor OC as far as things go… hundreds of aus later she is cemented in my heart as MY GIRL. 💚
