Cake pops are made from leftover cake pieces. They're scraps, and are one of the many things you do to prevent food waste -this is something people were doing before Starbucks commodified it, so this isn't a new idea, but for people who didn't know or who haven't found alternatives yet (and hopefully not because they don't care), OP gave a quick mug cake recipe (also I've made them before and they're good -just make sure to pick a neutral oil when making them if you do this with oil instead of butter because there are easier recipes out there, and adjust the recipe to your food sensitivities/etc of course, like I would use plant-based milks, butter and chocolate chips.)

I'm not sure if the person originally posting the recipe meant to be insensitive, but I understand the sentiment because if you're still going to Starbucks because they make 'this' that you love without making an effort to find an alternative, that's awful. Keep finding alternatives -they exist, I promise. And support local businesses as much as possible. Don't stop boycotting.

!help local music venues!

hello! i know the majority of users on here are probably American but i still wanted to pull attention to The Crown and Anchor hotel in Adelaide, South Australia.

Recently the popular venue has been sold to an overseas company who plans on turning it into student housing, this is horrible for the Adelaide music scene since The Crown and Anchor has been standing since the 1850’s and is one of the very few local live music venues.

If this loved venue is torn down the music community will suffer with a lack of locations and safe places when music is such an essential part to a community. I will make a more well-worded post later but please take time out of your day to look at, support and share the @SaveTheCranker account on instagram where there will be a lot more information than this post. help live music carry on and help support local bands, draw attention to this matter which is held so closely to many peoples hearts.

10/100 days of productivity 🐣 10/04/23

veeeeery minimal productivity today. i got out of bed on time today and went to work in the morning! i had a class scheduled for today, but i didn't attend the lecture because i went to a campus event. though, i plan to watch the lecture recording before my class tomorrow so i can get caught up! i skimmed through the assignment, and i am already quite familiar with the main topic, so i am not expecting too much difficulty. after the campus event, i went to the library to check out the book Traicionada, which is the Spanish version of the novel Betrayal by Danielle Steel. I am excited to read this so that I can improve my reading comprehension in Spanish! I read a little bit of it earlier when I went to a local café to eat some ice cream. When I got home, I did a bit more reading, and took an unplanned nap. overall, i mostly just had a me day and allowed myself to rest.

Your local library?

I love my local library. I go there at least twice a week and I have so many books checked out that it will take me months to finish. But I'm in there so often they just... Don't charge me late fees. 💀

Point being, local libraries are focal points of community, learning, knowledge, and togetherness.

My local library hosts meet ups, community events, crafts, classes and lessons, book clubs, writers clubs, crafting clubs. They have programs for kids AND teens, as well as adults. You can learn English as a second language for FREE at my local library!

I LOVE my library. It stays open because of all of its programs, and we're voting soon on whether or not to expand it. I say we absolutely should! Libraries are essential to the development of life skills, knowledge, and wisdom. Children love libraries! My favorite place to hang out after school was the library, always. I would grab a book and just start reading.

Libraries are SO important to not only me, but to many people who otherwise wouldn't have access to reading material and learning opportunities!

I just love libraries.
