“ROSS WILL PAY PENALTY FOR PARKINSON MURDER,” Cobalt Daily Nugget. April 11, 1910. Page 1.  ---- Moran Gets 10 Years io Penitentiary — Gouin Guilty of Lesser Charge of Doing Serious Bodily Harm ---- North Bay, April 11, — After a weary, nerve-wracking session which lasted from Monday until Saturday night, the Spring Assizes came to a close. Criminal cases took up almost the entire time of the court and the great majority of civil cases were either settled or transferred to the June sittings.
Intense Interest was taken In the criminal cases and the court room was packed day and night by the eager throng listening to the battle of the giants: Blackstock, the veteran of many legal battlefields, and McGarry, the young, but brilliant, master of criminal defence.
All day Saturday the court wrestled with the charge against Saul Gouin of wounding Mary Smith with intent to kill and the lesser charge of wounding and causing serious bodily harm.
The Jury comprised: Wm. Hunt’, F. X. Duval, A. Gauvreau; H. Dewiller; A. Britton; Wm. Dufresne; M. Delorme; M. Hogan; W Mackie; T. W. Borramie; Alex. Belanger; Ed. McDonald.
After being out two hours the jury returned a verdict of "Guilty of wounding and Inflicting serious bodily harm”
Judge Mulock In passing sentence made a scathing denunciation  of Gouin whom he charged with being guilty of cold-blooded murder without the shadow of reason or excuse and sent him back to Jail until the autumn assizes when he will receive sentence, his time in jail to he counted upon his ultimate sentence. ROSS WILL HANG  Walter Ross was sentenced to he hanged on Friday, May 20, for the murder of Percy Parkinson near Matheson. TEN YEARS FOR MORAN James Moran was sentenced to ten years for the murder of Dyson the Redwater operator.
This comes as a surprise as prisoner’s counsel, G. L. T. Bull, made a strong plea for clemency, backed up by petitions from leading citizens of Ottawa and strong letters recited the prisoner’s good previous record and the fact that he had been left fatherless at five years of age and had been forced to make hie own way in the world since be was ten. Prosecutor Blackstock seconded the plea for mercy in a strong plea full of charity for the prisoner and the Judge concurred in both, but said that the interest of Justice demanded the sentence.
None of the prisoners had anything to say, except through their counsels. Moran being the most affected by his position, apparently seeming to be dazed after the sentence, and standing with his head down and had to be told repeatedly by the constable to take his seat, Gouin was visibly affected by his position but Rosa showed very little sign of emotion, if any, and walked firmly hack to his cell.
The scene in the crowded court room when the sentences were passed was one of intense interest, as the audience listened in a hushed and oppressive silence to Judge Mulock's solemn and kindly remarks, as he sentenced Ross and Moran and his denunciation of Gouin as a murderer for whom no sympathy could be extended but to whom a large measure of mercy had been extended by the various judges who had considered his case.
He deplored a seeming growth of disregard for the law and hoped that in this district the lesson of this court would result in men controlling their passions and living good and true lives as befitted the best type of citizenship.

More progress shots from this weekend’s mural project as part of City’s ReOpen [Realizing Opportunities for Public Enjoyment of Neighborhoods] initiative, aiming to bring art front and center after what feels like a long hiatus of exposure to the arts for many. • It was pretty amazing seeing people engaging in the art and engaging with the artists. It was a good reminder of how important it is to support artists and public art initiatives. Art makes you feel and is essential. • This special project has been made possible by the City of Asbury Park @cityofasburyparknj Asbury Park Public Arts Commission Asbury Park Arts Council @apartscouncil Monmouth Arts @monmoutharts and New Jersey Arts and Culture Recovery Fund of the Princeton Area Community Foundation. • Participating artists include: Charles Trott Alex Zanello @matalex.art Brianne Delorme @twilightdance Brittany James @brittanyjamesart Caroline DeFelice @carolinedefelice Courtney Pasterchick @courtney_makes_art George Bates @bates_george Isabella Ybarra @isa.ybarra Maragalit Romano @margalit_arts Mike Indorato @indoratostudio Ziyannah Davis @ziyanahd6 Michael Teters @mtetersart Jennifer Dizefalo @jmd.barn.quilts (at Asbury Park, New Jersey) https://www.instagram.com/p/CPV0D-9j3t9/?utm_medium=tumblr

You will always be that one that got away..
Or the one I let get away.
Anyways,
We came close to something extraordinary.
I thank you for the all the love you've given me on this journey of life.
I hope you find another greatness again,
And keep it this time.
