Do people dislike Uraraka just because of ships? (Part 3/3)
I often see people saying "you only hate Uraraka because of ships!", not to me as I generally enjoy her, but to shippers. The thing is... non-Izuocha and non-Kacchako fans, non-bkdk, non-shippers in general do not have a good or high opinion on Uraraka. If you want to know how and why I would say such a thing, well...
I decided to check.

Of course Ochako would be extremely popular among her own ships, so what happens when we exclude Ochako-ships? How often is she added in gen (non-shippy) fics? How often is she added in non-rival ships?
A) First a quick check of all fics, excluding no ship: BNHA has 249049 fanfics. Ochako was tagged in 46679. That is 18.74%
For comparison, Deku is tagged in 51.52% of fics, Bakugou is tagged in 47.84% of fics, Todoroki is tagged in 28.27% of fics, Aizawa is tagged in 26.11% of fics. Because these are probably due to ships, let's check more.
We can see that there is a massive difference.
B) Gen ships: only fanfics that have friendship. I checked the top10 characters added and the top10 relationships. Then I checked the percentage of Ochako being tagged in all BNHA gen fics on AO3.
Gen fanfics tagged with Ochako (no ship excluded): 9316 over 50934
Above her we have Izuku (30499), Bakugou (20337), Aizawa (19119), Todoroki (13494), All Might (10362) and Class 1-A (10362).
Of course Deku is the MC in BNHA and he is extremely popular, so it is better to compare Ochako with other secondary characters instead of the MC. We see that her percentage of presence is comparable to the "Class 1-A" and All Might.
Interestingly the number is very similar to her percentage in the total fics.
If, to be sure, we exclude the main rival ships (kiribaku, bakudeku, tododeku, todobaku, shindeku) and the main Ochako ships (izuocha, kacchako), the numbers are of course smaller, as some people tag gen as well as FM or MM, in case their fic focuses on ships and friendship:
Gen fanfics tagged with Ochako (excluding her ships and rival): 6715 over 44386
The percentages for the others characters presence is similar ( Izuku (25380), Bakugou (15368), Aizawa (16786), Todoroki (10052), All Might (19114) and Class 1-A (8496) ), but this time Ochako is pushed down of one step, as Shinsou get 7403 fanfics.
Her numbers go down similarly to other characters.
C) Ship fics minus the rivals: To make sure to exclude the supposed "they hate her because she is in the way of their ships" I excluded the main Izuocha rival ships: Bakudeku, Tododeku, Shindeku. And then I did the same with the main Kacchako rival ships: Bakudeku, Todobaku, Kiribaku. Of course, Izuocha and Kacchako were also excluded.
In this case I simply took the whole of BNHA fics and just excluded these ships. What this means is the presence of Ochako in fanfics that are about other ships.
Ochako was tagged in 19016 fics over 157534. That is 12.07% of fics only.
This is quite less than when we look at her general presence in the whole of BNHA fics.
D) Ochako in rival ships fics
I also, for curiosity, checked the percentage of her presence in specific shippy fics that used rival ships, to see if people who liked those ships were more likely to add her or exclude her. These are the percentages of Ochako Uraraka being tagged as a character in the ship for:
- Bakudeku: 7037 works over 33987
- Kiribaku: 5289 over 28229
- Todobaku: 1180 over 9764
- Tododeku: 6449 over 22059
- Shindeku: 792 over 4000
(keep in mind that for all these ships I still excluded izuocha and kacchako, to make sure to exclude "breaking up"/"cheating" fics as much as I could)
As you can see, in Tododeku and Bakudeku fics her % of presence is actually higher than in the whole of BNHA fics (around 18% in that case). Keep in mind that these are fics with no Ochako main ships, but I did not exclude every Ochako ship (ex. Tsuchako or Togachako).
Now, let's put all our percentages together.
As you can see, rival ships fanfics actually had a higher percentage of Ochako Uraraka in them than non-ships or other ships. In particular, Tododeku was at first place, followed by Bakudeku fanfics. Then we have Kiribaku at 18% which is the same we have in all fanfics on AO3, and the same for just gen fanfics.
When we actually exclude rival ships, then the percentage of Ochako's presence decrease.
The lowest was actually for all the other non-Uraraka ships and non rival ships. In this case we had ships like Shinkami, Aizawa/Mic, friendship fics etc. and they only had a 12% of Ochako presence.
I think this concludes that, at least for what concerns AO3 and using tags as a proxy, Ochako Uraraka is not sidelined or hated by rival ships more than non-rival shippers.
Now, I was wondering: you know, maybe it is the same for all characters. Unless they are on ships that focus on them, we have them sidelined, 20% or less of presence. Let's check Bakugou and Todoroki.
E) Similar patterns for other characters?
They do follow a similar trend as Uraraka, but they actually have a higher presence in gen fics...
Uraraka has a higher presence in rival ships than she has in gen (non shippy) fics, while Bakugou and Todoroki have the opposite, which is why I would expect.

I'm sorry, but one more thing. Because I'm sure there is some anti-BKDK reading this and those other posts and going, "Hm, she must hate other ships" or something stupid along those lines.
I feel this way about any ship. It gets on my nerve to see anyone, regardless of what they ship, to dictate what another person writes or draws.
I'm not saying all KiriDeku shippers are toxic or BakuDeku shippers are the best people. What am saying is any fandom has its toxic shippers for any ship.
There are BakuDeku shippers who harass IzuOcha shippers. There has been a time when a, let's say, DabiHawks shipper harassed MiruHawks shipper.
Just because we don't see it, doesn't mean it doesn't happen.
Even so!
I don't care if the artist drew BakuDeku or if a writer wrote a TodoBaku fic instead of a TodoDeku one. It is not your place to come and tell them how much you hate the ship and they should have used their potential on a "better" one. Have fucking boundaries. If you don't like the content, don't engage in it.
It's fiction, not some policitial debate. Don't be a fucking ass to someone who probably built up the confidence to post something they enjoyed making. That hate you left could have been space for someone else to put their positivity into.
It's not that hard to avoid something you don't like. Block it. Exclude it. Don't simply look or read it.
Half of the time, I think some of you purposely go looking for the content you hate because you're miserable as hell and need someone to bully. Probably why some of you do it behind anon because you're cowards.
Fandoms were supposed to be communities for people to be apart of so they can enjoy the content they get with other people. Not a place for some of you to be assholes.
And if you are that person who leaves nothing but nasty comments in people's inboxes, if you truly stand by what you say, how about don't do it as an anon? That way it would be easier to block you.

Am I the only one who doesn’t get why some (tw) are shitting on Haru and Rin separately just for the fact that they reciprocate each others feelings? Because it’s not the feelings they wanted them to reciprocate? Just curious because I'm new and recently entered the fandom. And since when miscommunication in between means that they don't deserve to be happy at the end? Because you're an idiot when it comes to love, doesn't mean you're a bad person. I came from chinese bl and it's weird to me.
Hehe welcome to the madness, perfect time to join! Yeah, tbh that's the thing in the fandom that always bugged me the most. The fact that some act like if you don't reciprocate someone's feelings, it makes you a bad person. I always found it incredibly cringy when ppl in real life for example make ppl feel guilty for not feeling the same way and make you feel like shit bc of it. I don't get why you have to apologize for that or feel bad, if you never ever gave him any hope or anything in the first place.
Nowdays it's thankfully a rare sight already in this fandom, bc most already grown and see perfectly what's truly healthy and unhealthy, it's just tbh only the same 3 accounts ppl keep sending me that are still on that, who also think that Haru is literally possessed in the last movie so I don't see the point of like arguing with ppl like this. It's just they're always getting extremely angry when Haru wants Rin as if it's his fault that he feels this way and always go about it like he is inconsiderate of Makoto's feelings. Implying that they're mad that he doesn't feel that way about Makoto, while Makoto does. I'm same as @tododeku-or-bust for example said here (idk what fandom brought this on, but just in general) also do not get what's appealing about this kind of relationships in the first place.
If they shipped it in terms of like it's mutual I'd get it, but they go on about how Rin or Haru are bad friends bc they're not in love with their best friends... like ?????? I didn't know you owe it to your friends to have romantic feelings for them.
In real life if you found out that your bestie feels that way for you while you don't reciprocate, it's a burden, that'll make you feel uncomfortable and at times guilty when you shouldn't technically feel that way. So putting on someone a burden of "I was pining for you all along", when you know they don't feel the same is giving me this feeling of cringe. So I personally do not get what's enjoyable at seeing it like that in Free. But to each their own kink lmao.
It's like... is Haru at fault for the fact that he was Ikuya's first love too? I do not get it really. Like he doesn't have to take responsibility for everyone who falls for him and he doesn't owe anyone to reciprocate their feelings. Even to Rin. Like if he didn't feel the same way for Rin, it wouldn't be his fault either. But since he does feel the same way for him, it's like... good, great, happy for them.
Like once again if someone believes that Makoto and Sousuke are unrequitedly in love with Rin and Haru, that's not rinharu fault. Haru literally never ever lead Makoto on EVER. He never ever did anything that would make Makoto believe that they're more than friends. He was always honest about everything. Like when Makoto thought that he went out to see him, but Haru just wanted to see the sunrise, he told him just that. He never encoraged anything, he refused to live with him and never wanted. I do not get why it's supposed to be his fault that he doesn't like his friend in that way. If Makoto has some unrequited feelings for him and decided to hang up on this, it's his own life choice in my opinion.
It's like saying that Onodera and Takano for example don't deserve to be together just because they unintentionally hurt each other and got separated for 10 years bc of misunderstanding. This argument is like typical Yokozawa life position aka "but I was there when he left you heartbroken for several years, that means you MUST pick me". As I've said before, that's just not how it fucking works. And just bc they couldn't explain things to each other normally, doesn't mean that they don't deserve be happy now. Being idiots is not a crime.
Or if you came from chinese bl, lets go "Guardian" for example. Zhu Hong also was on about how "why you love Shen Wei, not me, I always did everything for you and I was always there, I even wore heels bc you once said you liked those etc". Like he never asked her to do this, he never gave her any hope, he was beyond rude and open about the fact that he's not interested, he never did anything to make her think she had a chance since the beginning. Just bc she decided to dedicate her life to false hope that maybe one day something might change is not his fault. It was her choice. Why Yunlan should feel like shit bc of that I do not get personally.
I'm just buffled bc like Haru for example is the most caring about other ppl's pain person, but they call him selfish and rude bc of the way he is with Makoto at times, not even realising that it IS in fact what means being kind sometimes.. to not give someone a chance when you know you don't feel it. I was always saying this like since forever, being kind doesn't mean for example giving everyone second chances, loving everyone, wanting to be friends with anyone etc. In some situations it's not being kind, it's being stupid or even not being a good person. Once again... offering someone friendship after he openly dissed your friend and you see that he's not in any position to talk back is not kind. Or if someone cheats on you constantly, but you always forgive them it's also not you being kind. It's you being stupid. Sometimes you have to be harsh. It's for the greater good.
And like I saw several times stuff like someone under scenes where Rin has his eyes for Haru only, commenting like "oh great, look at Rin being inconsiderate of Sousuke's feelings again. Can't believe you guys find this romantic." I mean, if in their opinion Sousuke is in pain from being Rin's friend, he can end it, it's his choice. It's not Rin's fault that he thinks of him as just his friend. So thinking that Rin is an asshole bc each time he simply hangs out with Sousuke he's a selfish bitch is fucking insane. I'd feel extremely bad if my best friend was seeing it this way for example. It's like hella ugly.
This annoys me also bc of the fact that Rin, the person who at the age of 12 single-handedly saved his family from falling apart after his father's death, who's an amazing friend to Sousuke and did everything to make his happy after he found out about his trauma and always checks on him first and cries about his shoulder, who in the late evenings taught Rei to swim, when everyone else gave up already xD, who was looking after Nitori during his training, who pretends to walk the same road, just because he's scared to let Gou return alone in the evenings, the most amazing son and brother, is suddenly an asshole just because Haru is in love with him, but not with Makoto. I mean, thats just... huh? Like I dont mind you ship what you want to ship, it's like to each their own crayons for real. But like dissing them and call them selfish just bc they only see their friends as friends and don't want anything more is weird to me.
As for the fact that bc of the misunderstanding they don't deserve to be happy, that's just idiotic. I mean, lets punish Wei Wuxian and Lan Zhan too just bc Lan Zhan couldn't voice his real feelings back then and bc WWX misunderstood him. Lets ship WWX with Wen Ning instead. Nezumi is cancelled, he doesn't deserve to be with Shion. He left him. Takano should stay with Yokozawa, Onodera is trash. Wu Xie is trash for wanting to be with Zhang Qiling too. It doesn't matter why he leaves, it only matters that he always does. I can't believe he doesn't see that Pangzi is there with him all along xD. What an ungrateful trash of a human being I can't even.
And anyways btw both Rin and Haru are not ideal human beings in any way (otherwise I wouldn't love them this much tbh xD). But their flaws are definitely not what for example mh shippers usually blame them for. You can argue about their other imperfections easily. Like being stupidly stubborn for example. I won't point fingers here, Haru lolz. Or literally anything else.
My point is you can find what to trash them for logically, if you wanna. Do it smartly tho. Otherwise you make your ship look bad.
And I once again say what wise person said about his relationships and about the fact that not being able with someone he loves hurt him and 'why is he doing this to himself' he answered: "it's not on him. my happiness and my pain is for me to handle". Everyone decides for themselves. This is why for example Haru was so broken about voicing this to Rin and didn't have any intentions to tell him that in the first place. Bc it's not right, if you're not sure that it's requited. Technically he has no right to blame Rin for making him fall in love with him and then leaving in the first place. It's not Rin's fault really, that he made him feel what he feels for him, it's ultimately Haru's problem. That's why he feels has no right to blame him in the first place. I mean, he doesn't know that Rin feels the same, that means saying to him "you break my heart each time you leave" and making him feel bad about it is technically wrong. That's why Haru to himself said "no, please, don't say such things to him". Everyone for himself decides who deserves your 5, 7, 800 or 10000 years of your pain. It's your decision. It's your life. If Haru feels like Rin is worth it, then you have no say in that matter really. The only reason we call Rin an idiot or Haru an idiot is because we know they feel the same, so we can. But blame someone else for not feeling what you're feeling is not right.
So like even if you feel like Makoto and Sousuke have feelings for their friends, blaming Haru and Rin for having feelings for each other and not for them is beyond weird. And there's nothing wrong with putting someone you love first, every bro/sis gets it. You can say bros before hoes all you want, but like Lan Zhan might just drop his bro for his hoe, if he was given a choice. Would it make him a bad person? The fact that Wu Xie chose to save Xiaoge before Pangzi makes his a bad person? My point is it's not all that easy.
I just feel like many ppl in this fandom are very weird about many things. Either because they do not get what it's like to go through some things or maybe they just do not get that no matter how cheesy this sounds love is not that simple. I mean, for example not all selfish is bad, sometimes like in Haru's case for example not being selfish is also bad. Bc if he finally asks for what he wants, he will make both himself AND Rin happy.
To be angry at Rin bc of the aftermath of his father's death and s1 I never had it in me, after knowing everything and how adults handled it. If some of Sousuke's fans bc of Yakusoku and the fact that Rin found his salvation in Haru bc he helped him to move forward after getting his family out of this hell alone and that Haru was the safe haven that made him happy in this moment of his life, want to trash Rin for the fact that he "neglected" Sousuke, its like your opinion. I personally do not get it. Rin doesn't owe Sousuke anything. It's not his fault again that Haru's existence helped him to feel better.
Just like not everyone will get why Haru in 1x12 was so happy about the fact that he could help Rin. To be that special somebody for someone who can "save" you in moments of your life like this, especially if you love them is an incredible feeling. And no, your bestie isn't always the person for this job, no. I don't see why people do not get that I guess, that's all. But we all have our own opinion on everything, so...
We same as you do not get it since forever, but its like it is what it is in this fandom. I personally just have another life position on stuff, so I'm very far from that point of view they have.

I’m going to be mauled for this, but Tododeku is cringy as fuckkkkk. Now, I’m not trying to bash the ship. It’s decent, I suppose but the Tododeku shippers be wildin’. I swear I can’t go two seconds without seeing some straight twelve year old girl preaching about how Tododeku is endgame. It’s not just how popular it is, if it was just that I wouldn’t mind the ship, it’s how y’all express Tododeku. A Bakudeku fic? Spam the comments with Tododeku. A Momoroki fic? Spam the comments with Tododeku. A Deku x reader fic? Spam the comments with Tododeku. Tododeku shippers are like the Dan and Phil shippers of BNHA. Also, this one is specific to artists and fan fic writers. Please remember that these characters are underage!!!! I can’t count the times I’ve seen nsfw art of Tododeku. They are literal children. Anime or not, it’s still weird.

First impression: Baby.
Impression now: Still baby but feral now.
Favorite moment: Hnnn there’s a lot to choose from. Probably his quick thinking during the Kamino incident. It really shows how he’s able to think on his feet and under immense pressure, which I can appreciate.
Idea for a story: I’m not certain. I don’t have anything in the works that seriously involves him. I suppose that a story exploring a villain!AU might be fun!
Unpopular opinion: I actually think that Midoriya is a good protagonist. I don’t find him boring in the slightest and I am rooting for his development. Do I enjoy other characters and wish they had more time? Yes. Do I think that Midoriya as the main character at all detracts from the story? Absolutely not.
Favorite relationship: Platonically, it has to be the relationship between him and All Might. As a shipper, I really enjoy TodoDeku and IiDeku.
Favorite headcanon: I am a big fan of the Dad for One theory, so my favorite headcanon is definitely that he is able to inherit all of these quirks because he’s built for it.

Eternal eclipse - Klance Month Week 4
I have no idea where I was going with this but it happened, so yeah. I do wanna redo week 2 of @monthlyklance at some point, but I’ve got a mer bang to finish, so don’t be too surprised if the last prompt for this week is late. Enjoy I guess.

“What does that even mean?”
“We’re apart, but an eclipse is a moment worth watching.”
Keith burst into laughter. “That made no sense.”
“Yes it does!”
“No it doesn’t.”
Crappy webcams couldn’t distort the pout on Lance’s lips.
“What I mean is when they do get to pass each other, it’s one of the world greatest wonders and us being reunited would be the airport’s greatest wonder. Or at least, me getting to see you would be mine.”
While the analogy made no sense what so ever, knowing that he was Lance’s always put a smile on his face. Even when they were miles apart.
He and Lance met at a convention and had a slight competition over who had the better mecha lion cosplay from their shared favourite show, Space Warriors. Keith wouldn’t admit it then, but Lance had won with his Blue Lion cosplay, seeing as the people he came with were engineers and had made the moving pieces of their costumes. Lance himself, despite being a professional stage manager, was able to create the light up weapons they used. Keith made his Red Lion cosplay with hard work and long nights but he was willing to wave the white flag, if Lance hadn’t been so smug about it. In the 3 days of the convention, they always seemed to bump into each other, competing over the smallest things, like who could get a better score in the game room or who could find the better deal on a plush in the dealer’s hall. Even though they spent a good amount of time arguing, Lance had given him his number and told him to call if he ever wanted to admit Lance was better.
Keith was mostly never planning but he was working on a cosplay and the top didn’t look right and he had no other friends who liked cosplay, so he texted Lance.
‘Ah, so you admit I am the better cosplayer. it’s fine, no need to send a voice memo saying so. By the way, the shirt is the wrong colour if that’s the character your going for. You can actually order to correct colour from Jo Anne’s if you want to make it yourself. Check H&M or Forever 21 for similar looking shirts in the correct colour.’
While he rolled his eyes at how utterly smug the guy sounded, he took his advice. It was easier to get the shirt and fix it up himself and it was actually surprising how close to the real thing he needed was. Their relationship continued in asking for advice on cosplays or line ups for conventions and then he happened to find Lance’s Instagram.
Keith kept his cosplays and personal life separate, but Lance combined everything. Pictures of his cat, pictures of the beach, pictures of his friends as they lounged around, somewhat professional pictures as Lance worked, even though Keith knew enough about theatre to know Lance should be completely in the dark in the booth. So, Keith started asking questions about his life, Lance asked about his and they started to become friends. Lance could still be as snooty about his cosplay skills as possible but he was always helpful when it came to offering advice. Somehow it took finding a small fandom they both liked to make them closer.
“Whoa, wait a second. You like Kirarin Revolution?”
“Yeah?” Keith had been playing his usual cosplay making focus playlist and the second opening had come on and Lance heard it over the phone.
“Do you have any idea how hard it is to find someone who likes that anime? Almost no one knows it! I’ve been trying to find someone to be my Hiroto to my Seiji for a cosplay. What convention are you going to next?”
“Um, Galaxy Con?”
“Prefect, text me your sizes. we’re doing a cosplay together.”
“Wait, my size?”
“How else am I suppose to make your cosplay?”
“Wait what?”
Lance would not be swayed and when he arrived at his hotel on badge pick up day, like a hound dog, Lance found him and put him in his cosplay to do finishing touches. He even styled his wig for him.
“Why don’t we do this more?” Lance asked as he fixed the feathered pieces for the coat.
“Because you live in LA and I live in Texas.”
Despite Lance claiming not a lot of people knew the anime, they had made quite a hit at the convention. He became good friends with Hunk and Pidge and got to see another side to Lance that wasn’t hidden in smugness. Lance was actually a pretty nice guy and once they had separated again, they still kept that closeness they gained during that convention. They had even started to stream animes together, texting each other on everything.
Even with the distance between and the fact that they didn’t always go to the same convention and see each other, they kept getting closer and closer. One day, they were video chatting and Lance had been falling asleep on himself. His cat had joined him and was asleep herself and looking at him with his face squished by his hand, his half awake eyes and how he was all cosied up, Keith couldn’t help thinking he looked really cute.
He might not of been one for relationships, but was he even considering doing a relationship when your significant other lived so far away. Ok, maybe not that far, but long distance was hard. There was a reason it had such a stigma around it, even if people claimed it could work out.
Keith broached the subject and while ecstatic that Lance felt the same, he’d been as worried as Lance was. They were such good friends, what if this relationship didn’t work?
It took a lot of communication to make it work. Keith tended to keep things inside, including his nerves about how to act around Lance when they could meet at conventions. Lance was always nervous he’d be too clingy. There was a good moment where they stopped talking because not talking meant things couldn’t change or get worse. It was miserable and if it hadn’t been for Shiro – and Hunk on Lance’s side – it would of kept up. Once they talked everything through, it got better. It wasn’t like they’d go ages without seeing each other. Keith always saved up his vacation days at the Fire Station for conventions and he was always working so often anyway that the guys kept insisting he take more time off. Plus they loved teasing him about Lance, trying to sneak into the background of any video calls.
Lance would talk to Keith during shows that he knew the cues for like the back of his hand. He considered it worth getting in trouble for. he’d always count down to the next convention they’d meet at, somehow always knowing where he’d bump into Keith. they’d been doing it for a year now. There were long periods were they couldn’t see each other at conventions, maybe due to flight issues or work and the distance, while manageable, did hurt. Keith didn’t know why he didn’t just take a random week off when the theatre Lance worked with was in the dark and just spend the week with him. Maybe the fear that without conventions, they’d fall apart. Not a healthy way to live, which was why he was sure Lance announced on this very chat he was coming to visit him. Which kinda lead to their discussion on eclipses. When Lance was in town, in between actually hanging out and not sticking to a convention schedule, he wanted to make a couples cosplay with him. they’d been bouncing back ideas, almost going with Zuko and Sokka from ATLA (even though Keith knew he was more into Zuko and Katara), when Keith went on a tangent about the BNHA manga.
“You know I rarely read manga half the time.” Lance complained.
“I think you’ll like this one. The artist made this little drawing moon Todoroki and Sun Izuku and tododeku shippers have been going insane. it’s a whole huge thing now. I mean, everyone already says things like ‘oh the moon and sun get to kiss each other during an eclipse’. I must of seen 1000 fan arts of those two getting their kiss.”
“Oh! We should do that! it’ll be like us!”
which then lead back into their current conversation.
“Lance, when I get to see you, it’s not going to be a one time thing to kiss you. If it’s up to me, I wouldn’t stop. We might not even get any cosplay work done because I’ll be too busy kissing you.”
“Ooh, eternal eclipse. Kinda like the final battle with the Dead Moon Circus.”
Keith furrowed his brow. “What?”
“Sailor Moon? My god Keith, we might not be doing any cosplay stuff if I have to school you on essential anime.”
Keith rolled his eyes. “It’s not essential.”
“Keith, it’s changed the whole game. it’s essential.”
Keith could put up being school with ‘essential anime’, as long as he got Lance with it.

I definitely don’t think I started shipping it right away...I know I was head over heels in love once I caught up with the manga. But the actual start...it might have been Uraraka vs Bakugou in the Sports Festival? Which is funny cause I think that’s where a lot kacchako shippers are made. But I think it was their moment together after the fight. When she encouraged him, and when he was thinking after walking away that of course she had to be upset but it meant so much that she was still trying to support him. He wanted to help her but instead she just encouraged him all over again. They just care about each other so much it made my heart soar...
my thoughts:
I think the reason I fell so hard for Izuocha is like...it’s just so my speed lmao. My OTPs are always “they’re super crazy good friends but they also have crushes on each other.” And like that’s how I feel about them 100%.
What makes me happy about them:
They encourage and believe in each other so much!!! And like they’re interactions with one another have helped them both to believe in themselves more??? It makes my heart full...
What makes me sad about them:
Neither of them know what to do at this point. And like, I can’t say I really blame them? But I’ve been in that kind of situation before and it royally sucks. Also like...they both keep secrets from one another. It’s usually for the others benefit, granted. But that still doesn’t make it any less sad lol
Things done in fanfic that annoys me:
I hate fics that don’t...treat Ochako like a person. If you don’t give Ochako any agency, then I’m out and done. So like breaking her actions down into things that only relate to Deku? That bothers me immensely. Even if she has a crush, she’s her own person with other wants and desires. And narrowing her down into “she just likes Deku” and making her like jealous all the time is a huge disservice to her character that really drives me up a wall.
On the flip side of that...fics that take away Deku’s confidence that we’ve seen get built up over the course of the story is really annoying too.
Things I look for in fanfic:
This is gonna sound weird but like...fics that are unquestionably them. Sometimes fics are cute and I’ll like them. But if you write a fic were I could insert, like, any other couple and it would still work? I’ll still like it, but it doesn’t give me the doki dokis in quite the same way.
Now, if you give me a fic that could only work because it’s the two of them? Congrats you have succeeded in taking my heart. That’s my favorite thing to read.

(Soon-to-be) Pros At Cons
A hero nerd as big as Izuku couldn’t call himself as such without having attended at least one hero con, and throughout the years, whenever money allowed it, he had been to plenty. He loved it all: the panels, the merch, the guests, the cosplayers. Every part of it was just as exciting the tenth time as it had been the first, even when most of the stalls were the same every year, if some faces were so often present, they became familiar.
Izuku had tried to cosplay his favourite hero once, his mother had helped him fix up his All Might onesie into a more proper suit that earned him some excited compliments and a few requests for photos. Though Izuku isn’t really one for being the centre of attention—seeing as most of the time when eyes were on him, it was for all the wrong reasons, it seemed—, it had been a nice change of pace from his middle school interactions. At the cons, he was among his people, so to speak.
People of all shapes and sizes, from all sorts of backgrounds, came to these events to share in their love and admirations of Japan’s heroes. And the people who noticed him were just as enthusiastic about them as he was. It was nice, to not be looked at as the quirkless kid who aspired to be more than he was meant to. No one knew him, who he was, whether or not he had a quirk or what it might be. No one really cared either. They knew he loved heroes and that was that, enough to strike up a friendly conversation before they parted ways after only a few minutes.
When he started at U.A., things changed slightly though. After not only the villain attacks, but the sports festival as well, Izuku grew a little more recognisable than he had originally expected. Now that his face had been imprinted in hero aficionados’ minds as the kid who broke nearly all the bones in his arm in the fight with Endeavor’s son, people started approaching him even as he was just dressed as casually as any other day of the year. The con had happened not that long after the event was broadcast for all of Japan to see, so he reasoned that it was only natural the fight was still fresh in people’s minds. They were bound to forget about him once the hype had died down, and the next convention he managed to go to, he would go just as unnoticed as he had done in the past.
Or at least, that was what Izuku thought would happen.
To be fair, he hadn’t expected to get himself a boyfriend between then and now. He most certainly didn’t expect it to be the very boy with whom he had fought to make him noticeable in the first place. And the thing about Todoroki is that his hair doesn’t really qualify as something one could consider discreet. After the hero nerds found out who he was, who his father was, it was unlikely that they would forget.
In retrospect, Izuku should have expected this particular outcome. But he didn’t. And he invited Todoroki to come to the convention with him because he thought it could be fun, a bit of a date but not really. He just wanted to enjoy something he loves with someone he cares about. It seemed harmless.
But then people saw Todoroki, they recognised his hair, his face, his standing in the hero world. They saw Izuku beside him, their fingers laced together as they absentmindedly browsed an artist’s table. First came the shoulder taps, then the questions of whether they really were Endeavor’s son and the guy he had thrown out of bounds in a fit of blazing glory, and finally, the long, awkwardly silent stares as the cogs turned in these people’s brains. Some legitimately shrieked in uncontained excitement, and Izuku was torn between feeling amused at these stranger’s enthusiasm for their relationship, guilty for the way it made Todoroki shift uncomfortably and anxious about the possible consequences it could have.
Luckily, everyone was relatively nice and only wanted some pictures with some of U.A.’s most promising. It made Izuku feel like some sort of celebrity, which was a little strange. Todoroki kept mostly to himself though, almost cowering behind Izuku as he made all the small talk for the both of them. He was clearly thankful when people didn’t pry at his standoffish behaviour, though Izuku had done his best to steer their attention off of him to begin with.
Despite most simply approaching them about their iconic fight, however, they had a few stray encounters that were… interesting, to put it nicely.
It was definitely weird finding out that some people shipped them together ever since the U.A. sports festival. According to them, it was something about some obvious romantic tension—a couple of people may have called it by a slightly different name—that made Izuku blush so hard he was worryingly close to passing out from the lack of blood reaching his brain. Apparently, there was even a forum in some dark corner of the internet dedicated to speculating whether there was something between them in the little glimpses they caught of their lives when they were thrust into the media for one reason or another.
Izuku didn’t know whether to be impressed or extremely put off by the fact that these complete strangers had pieced together their mutual feelings long before they had managed to do it themselves.
Regardless, it was an overall taxing experience. Between trying to enjoy what the con had to offer and running around the venue to reach all the things that caught their eye as soon as possible, and handling their supposed fans and/or supporters (shippers?) while doing his best to keep them from poking at Todoroki’s life… Izuku got to the end of the day utterly exhausted. Conventions always took a lot out of him, no doubt about it, but this… this was a whole other level of tiresome.
If Izuku had a say in it, the next time they went together would go without a hitch. No people nearly cornering them with questions or requests that sometimes were borderline invasion of privacy. He knew that they meant well, but it was still clearly uncomfortable for Todoroki to be in these situations, so Izuku would like to find a way to avoid them entirely in order for him to actually have a good time.
“You want me to go with you to another one of these?” Todoroki asked, and Izuku realised with a start he had mumbled his musings out loud.
“Ah, sorry, you probably don’t want to go to something like this again, huh? After how this one went, I don’t really blame you, since it’s not even your kind of thing…”
Izuku smiled bashfully, though a hint of sadness settled in his chest at the thought of not getting to enjoy his boyfriend’s company at the next convention without people bothering them about something or other every few minutes. With a small shake of his head, Todoroki pulled Izuku into his arms, letting himself fall back onto one of the empty couches on the common room with him on top of his chest and stomach. Another rush of blood pooled in Izuku’s cheeks and he buried his face in Todoroki’s shirt in a futile attempt to hide it.
“I just didn’t think you’d want the attention I draw to us. I like spending time with you, especially if it’s something you like doing…”
A little whine of embarrassment sounded muffled against Todoroki’s chest and Izuku bit on his lower lip for a moment before lifting his chin and propping himself up on his elbows to look into his boyfriend’s tired, mismatched eyes.
“We could wear disguises… Maybe even couple’s cosplay… If you wanted, of course…”
Todoroki hummed softly, letting his head fall back against the armrest and his lids droop closed. “That would be nice… People wouldn’t really recognise us…”
Izuku tried to agree but was cut off by a large yawn, covering his mouth just in time to stop the little yelp from escaping his lips entirely when Todoroki wrapped his arms around his waist and pulled him closer to his chest. His breaths quickly settled on an even tempo and Izuku shifted to a more comfortable position, closing his eyes too and listening closely to Todoroki’s calm heartbeat. The exhaustion from the convention finally took over him as well, and by the time Iida woke them up to go up to their dorms before curfew, they had spent hours napping it away in each other’s arms. Even if the day didn’t go quite as he expected, Izuku couldn’t really complain about how it ended.

Since I've been seeing a lot of Monoshin/Monoma hate, I'm going to talk about it. Our differences and preferences aside, let's talk.
Doing something for others is way more rewarding then trying to bring people down. And in the instance of fandoms, doing something for others is as simple as not tagging your posts ranting about something you don't like. I'm going to be a little harsh here: nobody purposefully looking up the tag wants to fucking see it. Ok, back to nice Ivey haha.
Imagine your favorite ship is hated by a large group in the fandom, or your favorite character. You just want to scroll through the tag and have a good time. Maybe you want to relax after a stressful day and enjoy something that makes you happy. But the majority of what you see is hate towards that ship/character. Even if it's just one post, it could make your mood even worse and you turn away angry and upset for the rest of the day. That may be your point, but let me tell you, it's so much more rewarding complimenting a ship you don't like then tearing it down.
I'm going to make an assumption, but I could be wrong. You don't ship Monoshin because you like kamishin. That's perfectly fine! I don't ship Todomomo because I like Tododeku. I don't ship Kirimina because I like Kiribaku. I don't ship Kamishin because I like Monoshin and that's fine! We're all human, we all have different preferences and that's what makes us unique. That's what makes fandom experiences FUN.
A couple days ago I made a post about how I don't ship kirimina but I respect it and people who do. I didn't tag it, so I only got three likes. But those were from people that followed me; they signed up for my content and what I post. And if they ship kirimina and liked it because I was being respectful? That makes me feel even better! That let's me know that even though we have differences, we can accept each other and look past that. And maybe even strike up a fun conversation on why we ship what we ship. Either way, we both walk away feeling good.
Now if I wrote the post trashing kirimina just because I didn't like it, then tagged it, I would have left feeling angry, and all the kirimina shippers just trying to enjoy their ship would have left feeling angry as well. And someone might even reply to the post, and we'd get into a fight that would make both of us look bad and make us even angrier. And I wouldn't doubt that we'd both loose followers, and their respect and trust.
I get being passionate. I get feeling like a show or a simple ship saved your life, and then seeing something rival that making you angry. I was like that. I am right now with a certain ship. But that isn't an excuse to treat people like crap. Because in the end, while fandoms can sometimes be our shining light in the darkness, they can also drag us down and wear us out.
If you don't like Monoshin because you find it toxic, that's fine. If you don't like Monoshin because you like kamishin, that's fine. If you don't like Monoshin for any reason at all that's fine- all I'm asking is that you don't put hate in the tag. In any tag for something you don't like. I'm not saying don't make the posts; make all the angry posts you want! All I'm asking is to treat everyone with kindness and respect. For us, for yourself, and for the fandoms image.
Fandoms are supposed to be a happy place for everyone. Let's keep it that way.

"Omg there's a todomomo shipper out there who stole the anti todomomo tag, how am I supposed to blog all my hate towards a perfectly healthy ship now". Why bother complaining about such a little thing? I'm sure if someone stole something like "antitododeku" and made it a positive ship space, the tododeku shippers would love it (no hate to tododeku supporters though, I know there are some of you out there who are chill).
I’m also a tddk shipper ahdhjd, i ship a lot of things owo, so it’s just so WILD to me that people have the gall to hate shit that’s so easily avoidable but also hate any positivity that goes into it... like... get a fucking job sjdsjdsds

“Yes. I would like it if you could pretend to be my boyfriend for the duration of the wedding,” Todoroki deadpans. “It would piss off my father.”

I won’t just buy you a rose
Shouto decides to visit his mother for the first time in years, and decides to stop at a flower shop along the way.
He freezes in place, and before he can move again someone is bustling through the door behind the counter, all messy hair and wide green eyes. It’s a teenager, a little shorter than Shouto but probably the same age. He’s got a wide smile and there’s a smudge of dirt on his cheek, which instantly draws Shouto’s attention. His fingers itch to rub it off.
Bedroom escapade [Rated M]
The sheets underneath them bundled and creased under the weight of their bodies. Midoriya grasped at the thin, white linens as Todoroki trailed his tongue ever so slowly down the other man's chest. Midoriya's back naturally curled at the feeling, Todoroki's tongue running over his lithe form and prominent ab muscles. Hands clung to Midoriya's waist, squeezing lightly as the younger man squirmed slightly.
I wish i could say all these things to you
Todoroki couldn’t help but want more, knowing his life means more with Midoriya in it. Wishing he could say how complete and whole he feels with him in his life. But willing pushing that aside for Midoriya to stay by his side for as long as possible.
Until one evening, a stinky dumpster cat aggressively entered their lives.

Todoroki visits Midoriya after an accident that takes a good chunk of his memory away, specifically his memory of All Might.

The silence that followed was killer, making him wonder if asking was really worth it. Midoriya looks on at him with a mix of emotions before huffing out a sigh, sagging in his seat, coming to a conclusion. “You’re going to think I’m weird, Todoroki-kun.”
“Try me.”
Fight Club
In his defense, Izuku would mention the fact that they are fifteen and that sparring with an extremely attractive male – it‘s just the adrenaline rush, really - is bound to result in this. Social media had taught him that much, at least.
It‘s just his rotten luck that his 'handsome sparring partner' happens to be his friend Todoroki Shouto. Which is entirely unfair and really bad for Izuku‘s poor rabbit-heart.

The awkward atmosphere had dissipated, and Todoroki felt a bit more vulnerable like that. Just him and Midoriya, hands intertwined, sharing some new unspoken secret that neither of them really knew what it was.
The Earth could have split in half right then and there, and Todoroki wouldn't have ever noticed.

Shouto’s eyes widened, as he looked at the boy sitting opposite of him. Midoriya was staring at him with such concentration, that he felt overwhelmed.

From the very beginning, Todoroki's always been walking on unsteady ground. He thinks of falling and he thinks of landing, and he isn't sure which he's more terrified of.
I’d fight for you
“What the hell is this?” Todoroki shot up at the voice, causing Midoriya to lose his balance, and tumble off his boyfriend and back onto the couch. It would have been quite comical, had the situation not become deadly in mere seconds.
“You’re not supposed to be back yet.”
Look out your window
“Izuku.” Todoroki placed a kiss on the tip of Midoriya’s nose. “Izuku.” His cheek. “Izuku.” His mouth.
They'd finally decided to call each other by their first names and Todoroki didn't know how he'd survived until now not saying it.
He leaned down and kissed Midoriya again. “Izuku.”

Yes to your reply because I agree with you 100% I am a fanfiction writer and I can't even tell you how many HOURS, how many DAYS I spend on writing a fic because I love doing it and it's fun and just bringing ideas to life that would possibly never happen in canon is such an amazing feeling for me and if your ship is supposedly "canon" wtf are you feeling the NEED to express it? I feel the majority of hate towards kacchako is izuocha shippers and there's just no reason. Let us have our fun?
I’m so glad you understand the feeling anon because it truly does take more than what people imagine to write a fic. It’s been weeks since I started one fic of mine and it’s not even close to being done but you know what? I’m enjoying writing it, I’m loving every inch of it even though it’s been tough and I wouldn’t change any of it for the world. At some point, even though this is a situation where you can easily brush it off and call them a troll (even though I want people to get away from considering people like that trolls), it still doesn’t change the fact that a work was discredited simply for the sake of a ship. It make me sad that people are so hung up about their ships that they have to go out of their way to comment on a piece of work and bash the ship. It’s completely disrespectful and rude and I just don’t see how hard it is just to simply scroll past it and move on with your life. Guaranteed you’ll feel the same way if you do that so I just don’t understand. and *wheezes* I really tried to avoid saying that but you know what? I’ve been a part of a lot of FB groups, Im on discord, VK, instagram, even here on tumblr and the people who have shown the most aggression towards other in regards to their ship have been the izu/ocha shippers. Of course all ships have their issue people and there have been some nasty Tododeku shippers in regards to Todomomo and I know some amazing Izu/ocha shippers that are so sweet and kind but, in regards to an overall sense, the people who have shown the most aggression to other ships that involve Izuku or Ochako have been the Izu/ocha shippers. It’s been the nasty group of them that have went on rants on blaming homosexual ships for lack of content, it’s been only them surprisingly that went onto my Kacchako posts and went out of their way to discredit my opinions towards Kacchako (like I actually had someone actually continuously comment on my posts when I started out and Im like???), it was them that went onto my Kacchako amv and went “EW, its supposed to be IZU/OCHA”, it’s them that you post a differing ship on FB and they all spam comment “ITS SUPPOSED TO BE IZU/OCHA” for no reason, like it’s not a respectful “i don’t ship this but this is cute!” it’s an actual “EW OCHAKO IS SUPPOSED TO BE WITH DEKU”, and it was also them that in a group I was in, I had someone tell me to my face “Why would you ship Kacchako? That makes no sense, like why ship them? Its abusive. You should ship Izu/ocha”. Again, all ships have their problematic people, I’ve seen some nasty Tododeku, Bakushima, Katsudeku, even Kacchako shpipers. Heck, I could technically be considered one of the nasty Kacchako shippers and it happens in each ship fandom so I am not here pointing fingers to one group and saying all the issues lie with them because that’s not true, especially when you do have those absolute sweethearts who just want to enjoy the fluffy nature of their ship (which you know who you are, I even want to write you guys something because of how sweet you are). However, in my own personal experience, those nasty guys are more apparent than others I have personally seen and for some reason, they do like to show a good amount of aggression towards Kacchako and sometimes Midotsuyu/Tododeku as well, which confuses me immensely. It was actually funny, I had a friend tell me “for shipping something so sweet, they can be pretty vicious” and I agreed with that since I can show you right now samples of that. I hope that these guys will one day mellow down because I know I’ve gotten to a point where I want to make content for the ship since it was my first ship and I still love it a lot but I am also being turned off by this aggressive behavior as well and it just gives such a negative image to those sweethearts who just are minding their own business.
Sorry! I’ve been having a lot of thoughts on this lately since I’m getting tired of seeing it everyday and it just rambled out so I’m super sorry! Personally, I just am in the belief that people have differing opinions on who they ship and that everyone should just be respectful towards that! I mean, you wouldn’t go up to someone at a restaurant and be like “EW, that eggplant IS SO GROSS. You should have gotten THE PASTA” so I don’t understand why there can’t be that same courtesy. We have different ways of viewing the world and there’s no need to be aggressive over something simple like which two fictional characters we think would work best together. There’s no need to be forceful or mean! I think that, instead of channeling our love for our ships in hurtful ways,we should just stay in our lane and respect each other. My OTP is Kacchako and my best friend ships Todobaku and my other best friend ships no one and we’re still the best of friends so I’m just not understanding.
