my plan to torture myself with every disney movie ever made
Tumblr media
rn i’m on a mission to torture myself with watching and re-watching every animated disney movie (not pixar, the shit from the other studio) bc i have absolutely no life and i choose to spend my time as a grown adult watching shit made for 3 year olds. i’ve never been a big disney fan i always found the movies boring af bc they’re way too kid friendly and hardly appeal to adults or have any edge to them, unlike nickelodeon cartoons and even shit from other animated movie studios like dreamworks and blue sky, but that’s a whole different story (i love pixar tho) like even before disney turned into woke bullshit i never cared for it that much, but the movies back then were still 100x better than the crap they’re making now, honestly i think disney went downhill when they started making the movies CGI bc tangled was their last good masterpiece. it ruined that classic animated 2D feel that walt brought to the table. honestly this is a huge problem in animation in general like why is every movie CGI now can we please go back to the 2D shit??? so yeah i’m actually uncultured af and have hardly seen any disney movies DJDJSKSK and the ones i have seen i only watched once when i was a kid so it feels like my first time watching a lot of these. so yeah anyway i feel the need to torture myself with a bunch of movies i don’t even like that much bc as an animation connoisseur i don’t like feeling uncultured abt literally the biggest animation company in the world and feel the need to give my expert opinion. aladdin is the best i’ve watched so far in my binge that movie is honestly top tier and the only one i consider a cinematic masterpiece (AND appeals to adults), now i understand the hype around that movie bc i’ve been living under a rock. i feel like the genie character added a huge comedic element to it that most disney movies are missing lol. beauty & the beast is def a close second tho that movie feels 100x more mature than the other disney princess movies. ig disney movies are supposed to be animated dramas rather than comedies so yeah if ima go in expecting comedy ima be disappointed lol. so if ya’ll see me randomly posting shit abt disney movies in the next few days now u know why. we’ll see if i can also get around to torturing myself with some of the live action remakes and direct to dvd sequels and see if they’re rlly bad as everyone says they are lol. the only remakes i’ve seen are alice in wonderland, cruella, christopher robin, & maleficent (and prob 101 dalmations a longass time ago). i’ve been scared to watch the rest bc of how shitty they look lol.
what i’ve watched so far in this binge:
•snow white & the seven dwarves - this movie is boring af and dopey carried the whole thing. like 50% of the screen time is spent on animals singing, imagine having the opportunity to make the first ever full length animated feature film in 1937 and u choose to make a movie about a bunch of dumb animals SINGING
•sleeping beauty - boring, what even is this movie? the title of this movie should actually be “three retarded fairies” bc sleeping beauty herself does absolutely nothing in this movie LOL
•cinderella - boring but better than sleeping beauty & snow white. i loved cinderella as a kid tho but yeah as an adult not so much fhjdjsks
•peter pan - so damn boring MY GOD this one might actually be the worst i’ve watched so far, it’s not as good as i remember it being as a kid
•aladdin - MASTERPIECE i’d def wanna watch this again
•beauty & the beast - i love this movie def one of the better disney princess movies
•bambi - sooo boring but it’s cute & i get why kids like it, and no i didn’t cry when bambi’s mom died bc i don’t give a fuck about a cartoon deer with 0 personality. also thumper carried the whole movie
•working on pocahontas now this movie is boring af so far and it makes 0 sense how the native americans speak english LOL

Why Rapunzel should have cut her own hair in Tangled
Though out the movie Tangled, Rapunzel has been shown to be out of control of her own life as Gothel has been in control of everything in rapunzel’s life. One of the many aspects of her life that were out of her control was her hair. As the movie tells us, Rapunzel needed to keep her hair long because of the magical power within the hair. Once the hair is cut, the power is gone forever. We also have been shown that rapunzel views this as a gift that should always be protected, and also a burden because everyone wants to abuse it (or so she has been told). It would have been great if the writers had her cut off her own hair because she found out the truth about gothel’s intentions and shown that rapunzel had broken free of her control. Even though she relied on her hair for many years to be able to do things, rapunzel realized that it was for her own good, and she would finally be free. Instead of this, we have Flynn making the decision for her!
Flynn cutting her hair WITHOUT her consent was counterproductive to her own story. “Gothel deciding what was best for her without her consent was wrong, but Flynn doing it was ok because he actually loved her!” Yeah, that’s bs. Even if that wasn’t the writer’s intention to make it seem like that, it does come off like that. Also, the fact that he basically tricked her, so he can cut her hair, was wrong and sends a bad message to kids. Plus Rapunzel relied on her hair for many things, and it was all taken away from her without her consent. This implication could have been avoided if Rapunzel had cut her own hair. It also would have been a better end to her own story as she finally had a say into something that defined her own life.
It ruined rapunzel’s character arc in favor of Flynn’s. Flynn cut her hair off without her consent because it shows he changed, and he’s willing to die for rapunzel because he fell in love her in 3 days. How many times have we seen in a movie where a girl character gets their own arc in the story ruined because the writers needed to focus on the boy’s character arc instead? This is supposed to be rapunzel movie, but the writers made Flynn the protagonist instead because of some sexist marketing reasons. Even the climax of the movie heavily focused on Flynn and gothel. It should have focused on rapunzel and gothel as this is what the movie is about, the abusive relationship. But they reduced rapunzel to a damsel just to prop up Flynn. Hell, the people that defend Flynn cutting her hair without the consent focuses on his story arc, not rapunzel! “HE thought Rapunzel shouldn’t be defined by her hair!”, “HE loved her for her and not the hair.”, and “HE needed to complete his story arc!” As you can see from these comments, they make her seem like a damsel that couldn’t save herself. It just proves my point about this whole issue. This is supposed to be rapunzel’s movie. It’s also supposed to be a feminist take on the fairy tale. However, the movie sacrifices rapunzel’s character and choices just so Flynn can be the hero. Maybe in the live action Disney can fix it. But I won’t hold my breath.

Rapunzel redesign for a hypothetical live action movie.
heavily inspired by concept art of the animated movie.
I've seen the redesigns people have been doing on twitter and Instagram were they make Rapunzel South Asian. and it got me thinking I love their designs but their is one major problem with their design which is that they gave Rapunzel black hair. In the movie when Rapunzel's hair is cut it changes colour. by giving Rapunzel dark hair they kind of ruin this as her hair can get any darker if it's already black.
my solution to this. purple hair. why is it purple because the magic flower was purple. When it get cut it turns black.
personally I'm not a fan of the more recent live action movies the first lot were good but they fail as remakes I think reimagines of the story is a better word for them. the remakes were good as their own movies because they did their own thing. which modern remakes haven't been doing. so they been sticking more closely to the originals but the people they put in charge of the movies don't understand the original films.
if Disney did a live action remake of tangled all it need to be a cute romance film. with a few new scenes that add stuff to the movie and characters.
maybe bring in character from the series for fanservice.
but as long as the relationship between Rapunzel and Flynn is good the movie should be good
but lets face it if Disney did a remake of tangled it would probably suck.
I'm going to post this to twitter wish me luck
if you have any thought or threats or ideas for the design(like a better solution to the hair colour problem) leave a comment or leave a message in my ask box.

Disney is reportedly gonna do live action Tangled and for the love of God leave it alone. Please. That movie is perfect as it is. Don't go and ruin my favorite princess movie. Like obviously og Tangled isn't going anywhere and I will not spend money on live action Tangled but even just the existence of it will sully the the original

Keeping Up With Thursday
It was an action-adventure, crime-thriller webcomic by Aaron Mocksing (AKA CrazyassBeethoven or Ari-Dynamic).
Taking place in 1894 in London, we meet Patrick, the infamous Thursday Thief. He’s a mouse who, despite his size, is well-known for his thieving prowess, his womanizing behavior, his rugged yet deceivingly handsome looks, and his general run-ins with the law. There is no creature or human he hasn’t pilfered, scammed, or, if pushed, killed in his long, heist-filled life. Although, even with such an impressive repertoire, his addiction to the constant thrills of his heists and fights in his career has its drawbacks. Some of them are his lack of permanent associates, his ego, and his general unfriendly behavior, which can often be his major downfalls in a declining spiral that will either be his wake-up call or the nail to his coffin.
Patrick isn’t the only one alone in the escapades, though. Joining in are the soon-to-be ex-partner of the Thursday Thief Vincent ‘Vinnie’ Edenton, the sweet but naïve lady Beverly Junebed, the anarchistic mouse Svenn, the happy-go-lucky chaotic girl Funday, and other colorful cast of characters as they get tangled in with the law as the growing changes in London and the British Empire in general, at the time, start closing in on all of them. Law enforcement is being doubled as politicians like Beauregard Finnigan attempt to snuff out crime in the United Kingdom to boost their own credibility, no matter how underhanded and scummy the method.
KUWT is definitely one of the more interesting and entertaining comics that, unfortunately, have become forgotten over time. As it promotes itself, it uses the styles and looks of both old Disney and Don Bluth movies (think The Great Mouse Detective and An American Tail) to great effect, minus the *rough art* in the beginning. While it’s an entertaining read, as I’ve said, it still has its share of flaws. It tends to try too hard to be gritty, whether it’s some of the older writing and author comments, the use of gore, especially with one poor tasting moment in issue 3, or some of the stuff Patrick tends to say. The middle portion of the comic where it dives into Pat and Vinnie’s backstories will overstay their welcome, most of the cast I didn’t mention by name don’t really live up to their full potential in one way or another, and you might feel a hole was left unfilled in some way once you finish it. They’re all not too bad to ruin your reading experience, but they are sticking points nonetheless.
*If you end up questioning the jumps in art quality in the early chapters, the artist had some habits to go back to older issues during certain years to redraw them.
This feels genuinely interesting. Like this could actually be good, but not competent enough to be unriffable. I will be giving it a shot in the future for sure.

FROM THE INBOX: MULTIMUSE MEME: Send a " ⭐ " and I will list muses I would be interested in throwing at yours, or potential muse combinations if you are also a multi. / @arcencielreve
Tumblr media
Really digs into your muse list cause we've been moots forever but I'm terrible at communicating with people.
Adrien and Gal count as magical girls so they could interact with Bu-Ling, there's also Dani or Timmy Turner for feral small child solidarity.
Any of my DC / Marvel muses and your DC muses would be amazing because I literally love all of them and they're a consistent joy to see on the dash. My primary muses on that front in general are Billy and Dick
There's also my Tangled OC Hugo for any of your disney movie muses + of course Rapunzel. If you're not weirded out by live action and animated muses interacting Jack Frost can mess with any of your Santa Clause characters! Also I always offer Harry Potter to halloweentown characters cause I love them.
Holds out Holt specifically for EAH and Monster High interactions. Holt's just here to vibe and have a good time he's such an extrovert.
I personally believe that Rachel and Abby specifically have the right to ruin Chad's life at every possible chance.
Plagg, Felix, and Adrien of course for ML muses (and Plagg for other immortals who can be done with his shit)
Most unlikely suggestion but Rose and Hunter could have the most wild 'they're just like me fr' conversations about being raised in manipulative environments full of magic hating propaganda.
Just off the top of my head.

In Season 7 of ABC/Disney's live-action television series "Once Upon A Time", it is revealed that the show's version of Lady Tremaine from "Cinderella" is also Rapunzel from "Tangled". How do you feel about this plot twist? Is it inappropriate?
Look, I watched a bunch of OUAT, but the reason I stopped watching it was because it was getting too ridiculous and frustrating for me to continue. I am well aware of that plot development towards the end of the series, and I can't say I care for it, but I can't say I care for most of what OUAT had to say about various fairytales. Seasons 1 and 2 very very strong, and when I rewatch them, I remember why I loved it at the beginning, but it started to ruin itself when it stopped pretending it wasn’t Disney’s version of the fairytales instead of just paying homage to them.
And Zorro being a dragon was the stupidest addition they could have possibly thrown on.

Stark Tea Time
Tumblr media
Summary || Morgan Stark drags Bucky to one of her legendary tea parties, Sam leaving him to drown in pink fluff and glitter.
Warnings || Bucky actually smiles
You do not have permission to post my work anywhere else
“Lay up Cyborg, live a little. It’s not like I’m gonna di—”
“Look! Sam, I drew something for you!”
The two men’s attention is diverted from their conversation as little Morgan Stark comes barreling down the hallway, paper flapping in one hand and an assortment of crayons in the other. Her hair is covered in little butterfly clips, strands adorned with a wide array of colors from the chalk dye strewn across her cherry wood floors. She’s wearing a massive tutu, dressing to the 9s in a blue ballerina costume.
Sam smiles at the little girl, always excited to see what she has to offer. Ever since Tony passed, all of the Avengers men have taken on a father-like role towards the child, always making sure she feels loved and cared for. It’s the least they can do.
He bends down to her eye level, giving her his full attention. The smile on Sam’s face is in complete contrast to the grimace adorning Bucky’s features.
“What’s up sweetheart? Whatcha got?”
The little Stark giggles in excitement, overjoyed to see her two favorite Avengers come to see her again. They’re always quite busy, saving the world and everything. So each visit is quite meaningful to her. They’ll never replace Tony, but they ensure that his memory and love for Morgan is something she’ll never lack. They’d all die before that happens, and she knows that.
She takes the drawing from behind her back and lays it out for both of them to see. It resembles some sort of bird-like figure, Sam thinks to himself. Next to it is a robot-type figure, not failing to notice the frown etched into his features with a Crayola marker. Shaking with excitement, the little Stark looks at the two men expectantly.
“What is it?”
Morgan sighs loudly, annoyed by their stupidity and lack of “artistic vision”. The two men have yet to figure out where she learned such a concept.
“It’s you guys! Duh!” Their mouthes form into an ‘o’ shape in understanding.
“Well it’s stunning. It’s absolutely beautiful Morg. You know, I might have frame this one actually. When you become a famous painter, this is gonna be worth so much money!” Morgan squeals, jumping around excitedly as Sam praises her.
“I think it’s kind of ugl—” Sam cuts him off by sending a small electrical current to Bucky’s arm, causing him to hunch over in pain as he’s being electrocuted.
“What he was trying to say is that it’s very avant-garde, meaning unique in the art world. Don’t worry little Stark, it’s a good thing.” Sam smiles at her encouragingly, hoping Terminator’s harsh words back there wash over her. She nods in understanding, James’s words already long forgotten.
The two men attempt to continue their conversation from before, discussing details about their next mission. There’s a hostage situation in the Palace of Westminster, the perpetrators threatening to blow the whole thing up with everyone in it. But before they can really strategize how to scope out the place, Sam feels a tap on his leg.
“Yes princess?”
“Can you guys come to my tea party?”
“Actually Morgan, we have to go so—” Bucky starts to say before being rudely cut off my bird-man to his left. Sam shoot daggers in his partner’s direction and the words die in his throat.
“Actually, I have to go take care of something really quickly. But Bucky can join you.” At those words, Bucky’s head jolts in his direction, giving Sam one of the meanest looks he’s probably ever seen. But the big man is all bark and no bite, so Sam just laughs in his face. Bucky’s fists tighten at his sides, thinking of all the ways he plans to torture and murder Sam when they leave the Stark house.
Morgan, on the other hand, is practically bursting at the seams. Bucky doesn’t know this, but he’s her favorite of all the Avengers, especially because his titanium arm reminds her of her dad’s suit. She feels closer to him when she’s with Bucky. Plus, they’re both kinda stoic, but it’s only an act in her eyes. She knows that deep down, he has a heart of gold.
Morgan takes Bucky by the hand, dragging him down the hallway back to her room. Meanwhile, Bucky looks back at Sam, pleading for some kind of mercy or aid. Sam, of course, provides no such thing and only cackles at his best friend’s misfortune. He says goodbye to Pepper, promising to be back once he finishes talking to Torres.
Meanwhile in a certain Stark’s bedroom…
Morgan bounced from corner to corner of her large bedroom, capturing all of the items she needs for this special occasion. It’s not often she has a guest for her weekly tea parties, let along James Buchanan Barnes of all people. She has to make a good impression if he’s ever going to come back.
Standing like a dark looming giant,surrounded by tiny chairs and more pink and purple than he’s ever seen, Bucky is clearly out of his element. At 6’0 tall, he stands taller than anything in this room, standing neck and neck with the canopy bed in the middle. Morgan doesn’t take notice of his discomfort however, she’s just happy to have him. She whips around him, gathering her stuffed animals at the table and setting up the placemats for each guest.
Almost as if having an epiphany, the mini Stark girl gasps and runs out the bedroom, yelling that she’ll be right back. Bucky wanders around the room, taking notice of all the little trinkets and toys that he, along with the rest of the team, gifted to her over time. His lips contort into a ghost of a smile, reminiscing all the times Morgan screamed for joy every time they came bearing gifts. The gifts didn’t really matter to her, though. It was just their presence that set her heart into cardiac arrest and her cheeks aflame. They were her family.
Not soon after, Morgan returns dragging a more normal sized chair into her room. Bucky is surprised at this action, as the small girl is barely breaking a sweat. That is, until he noticed the two small gadgets attached the back of the chair, marked with Tony’s insignia. So little Stark is smart, just like her dad.
Morgan sets the chair down next to her own pink, fluffy and bedazzled throne at the head of the table. She sits down, motioning Bucky to take a seat and calls the tea party into session. Bucky’s eyes wander over the pristinely white tabletop, taking in the wide assortment of snacks. From shortbread, frosted oatmeal cookies, to cheeseburgers and mini sandwiches, you name it and she’s got it. The baked goods are Pepper’s doing of course, courtesy of her daily afternoon attempts to become the next Martha Stewart. Morgan doesn’t mind at all, eager to indulge in a daily sugar high as the designated guinea pig.
“Tea?,” the child offers, “it’s raspberry, your favorite.” James can’t help but blush as her consideration of his tastes. For a kid, she’s a pretty decent host. He quickly covers up his blush by coughing and nods firmly.
After filling up the China tea cups lined up around the table, Morgan moves towards introductions. “Bucky, these are my friends. There’s Mr.Whiskers, Genevieve, Fae, Natasha, Tony, and James. They’re very happy to have you here with us. They think you look quite nice today.”
James? As in… Bucky can’t help but blush again, honored that Morgan named one of her beloved stuffed animals after him. He smiles shyly, staring at the lavender Elephant across the table. The girl doesn’t fail to notice his smile, happy that he’s happy.
“So James, how do you feel about glitter?”
~~~
The doorbell rings sometime around 7:00, just after sunset. Pepper opens the door to a smiling Sam, carrying a mysterious box by his side. He just left Torres house, the two men agreeing to scope out the place just before dawn when everyone is still sleeping. That way, they can get a good picture of what it looks like on the inside without having to use night vision technology.
“What’s in the box?”
“Lemon Merengue. For Morgan.” Lemon Merengue is Morgan’s favorite dessert. So by bringing her some, Sam hopes that she’ll forgive him for taking a rain check on one of her illustrious tea parties.
“They’re still down the hall.” Pepper points in the direction of mini Stark’s room, before returning to her baking. Tonight, she’s trying devil’s food cake.
Even from down the hall, Sam can hear the chatting of two distinct voices, a deep scratchy one and a much higher, daintier tone. He shakes his head at Morgan’s complete lack of an inside voice when she’s excited. They must be having a blast in there.
To Sam’s surprise, Bucky actually seems to be enjoying himself. He stands in the doorframe, watching the two chat back and forth while a Disney movie soundtrack plays in the background. From the distinct piano, Sam recognizes Beauty & the Beast (also one of Morgan’s favorites).
Sitting down obediently, Bucky gives Morgan his full attention as she places puffy stickers on his titanium arm and adds little doodles to his real one. He smiles as he watches her drawing a picture of the two of them with princess tiaras and feather boas, just like they are now. She babbles away, telling him the details of the movie she wants them to watch together. It’s called Tangled, he learns.
Sam decides to leave the two alone, going back to help Pepper bake in the kitchen. Although, not before snapping a picture of the two together, reminding himself to print it and put it on the fridge. He knows that Pepper isn’t exactly the kindest person to be in the kitchen with, as she is very bossy and demanding. But he’d take that over ruining this special moment in the princess-themed room down the hall.
He can still hear the faint giggles and screams of Morgan, this time begging Bucky to stop tickling her. She pleads for mercy but he refuses to budge, only making her laugh harder and her giggles to bounce off the walls like they’re in an echo chamber. And to think, he was gonna say no earlier.
Jenna Ortega To Play Lead Wednesday Addams In Netflix’s Live-Action Series From Tim Burton.
Tumblr media
From Dateline:
Jenna Ortega (Yes Day, Jane the Virgin) has been tapped for the title role in Wednesday, Tim Burton’s live-action Addams Family series for Netflix focused on the iconic character of Wednesday Addams.
The coming-of-age comedy, written by Smallville creators Al Gough and Miles Millar and to be directed by Burton, is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ (Ortega) years as a student at Nevermore Academy. That’s where she attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships.
The YA series, Wednesday Addams’ first solo vehicle, marks Burton’s first live-action show and his TV directing debut.
Ortega is taking over the role from Christina Ricci, the actress most closely associated the character, who played Wednesday in both feature films, The Addams Family in 1991 and sequel Addams Family Values in 1993.
Burton executive produces with Gough and Millar, who will serve as showrunners on the series. Wednesday is produced by MGM Television, which controls the underlying rights to the IP.
Also executive producing are TV writer-producer Kayla Alpert, former MGM TV President Steve Stark, as well as several producers associated with the Addams Family IP: Andrew Mittman for 1.21, Kevin Miserocchi, Jonathan Glickman for Glickmania and Gail Berman.
Ortega burst into the scene in 2014 with two major recurring roles on Fox’s Rake and the CW’s Jane the Virgin. The latter, where Ortega played younger version of the title character, put her on the map, and Ortega quickly landed her first series lead role on Disney Channel’s Stuck In the Middle.
A lead role on Season 2 of Netflix’s You followed. On the streamer, Ortega also recently co-starred in hit feature comedy Yes Day. Her recent feature credits also include leads in The Fallout and the upcoming Scream. She is repped by Gilbertson Entertainment, CAA and Jeff Hynick of Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
Ortega shared the news on Instagram:
Tumblr media
Honestly, considering how Burton’s films have been so bad lately (I love Dumbo, but that’s with recognizing its many, many flaws)  I am dreading how he may ruin my fandom.
Hello! May I know what is your favorite Disney couple? It may or may not be the princess and the prince charming tho
Hi!! Oh, such a difficult question! I love so many Disney couples, I would say it goes on phases. The first Disney princess I ever loved was Snow White (I dressed up as her when I was like 6 LOL) so I love her and Prince Ferdinand. I also love Snow and Charming (Mary Margaret and David) in Once Upon a Time, they're my OTP from that show 💖 (although I only watched the first season complete LMAO 😅 I'm not good at keeping up with long series). I also love Beauty and the Beast and Belle and Adam made me tear up in the final scene💙💛 I also liked Rumbelle in OUAT. There was also a time I was obssesed with The Little Mermaid and I love Ariel and Eric too 💖. I also like Pocahontas and John Smith (hated it when they ruined it in the sequel, I pretend that movie doesn't exist LMAO even tho I actually enjoyed the film). I was also obssesed with Hercules and Meg for a while and I even dressed up as Meg once too 😂😂 I love them so much🧡💜. I also love Cinderella (1950) but the love story didn't touch me that deeply because it wasn't much developed until 2015 when the live action movie was released and man, I love Ella and Kit so much, that movie is one of my favorites! 😭💙💖 My most recent Disney OTPs are Tiana and Naveen from The Princess and the Frog 💛💚 and Rapunzel and Eugene from Tangled 💙💜 I used to make Youtube videos with music and scenes of these movies, I love them so much. 💖 I think Kristanna is really cute too but I was never very obssesed with them or Frozen in general. I've read some amazing fanfics tho.
I'm not currently obssesed with any of them so you could say I love them all practically equally. 💝
Comfortember Day 20. Movie Night
Wrong Leavers and Pizza Boxes
@comfortember
I had the opportunity to use a really fun roleplay that I did with my best friend for this one! Thank you my darling @iambambistark for letting me use our work! I love you 3000🥺💛🌻
Read On AO3
Peter practically bounced into the common room of the compound, looking for his mentor. The older man had  promised that today would finally be their movie night and Peter was going to make him stick to it whether Tony wanted to or not.
Peter couldn’t help the smirk at his thoughts as he finally found Mr Stark, his body practically vibrating in excitement.
“Mr Stark! Are you ready for movie night?!”
Tony watched in amusement as Peter basically vibrated in place from his excitement. I wish I knew where he got the energy from because Thor knows I need some of it, Tony thought.
"Hey kid!" He smiled at Peter as he got up from his place on the couch to give him a hello hug. "I'm definitely ready. Are we doing Disney tonight again?" He asked with a soft smile.
Peter beamed when Tonh didn’t say that he couldn’t do movie night, yet again. He has way too many meetings, I veto meetings. Peter thought to himself.
“Of course! Would it really be movie night if we didn’t watch Disney! I want something funny though, too many Disney movies are sad.” There’s nothing better than laughing with Mr. Stark at a Disney movie.
Tony felt a laugh bubbling up in his chest. This kid always seemed to be able to make him smile and laugh. "Of course! How could I make the mistake of insinuating a movie night without Disney. It would be criminal!" Tony smirked at the teen.
The billionaire was glad that he had the chance to joke with him like this. He'd been swamped with meetings and conferences that couldn't be put off as much as he wanted to. It had led to a few lab days being cut short and cancelled movie nights, which Tony made sure to complain about to Pepper and Rhodey.
"Do you want to order take out or just grab some snacks from the kitchen?"
“Hmm, well, if we only do one movie then snacks are good, but if we do multiple movies then I think take out would be good. How many movies will we doooo?” Peter drew out the last word. He hoped Tony would say that they could watch multiple movies, but he was just thankful Tony was available to spend time with him at all.
"What are May's shifts like this weekend?" Tony asked Peter, a plan already being thought out in his head. "Because if she is busy at the hospital and fine with you staying the weekend again then we can binge a few movies and get take out." Tony tried to keep the eagerness at spending more time with Peter from his expression. He knew it probably didn't matter at this point but he still had a slight reputation to uphold.
Can't let the world know that Iron Man goes soft because of a spider kid who is literally a puppy in human form. Oh who am I kidding. It's too late I might as well roll with it at this point.
Peter somehow smiled even bigger upon seeing her smile, “Mays gonna be out, she’s been picking up a lot of extra shifts lately.” He said, his smile drooping a bit. No I can’t make this sad I can’t ruin our night being sad , Peter changed subjects, “I can text her real quick to double check I can spend the night! I’m sure I can though,” The smile came back to his face. He pulled out his phone, and asked May if he could stay the night, surprisingly she responded pretty quickly.
She must be on break. She already expected my question though, and allowed me to stay, but warned me not to make Mr. Stark lose even more sleep than normal. Looking back up at his mentor, Peter was pretty much bouncing again in excitement. “She said I could stay! If you still want me, I mean, like if you still want me to spend the night. Anyway, what are we gonna get for take out?”
Tony huffed out a laugh at the rapid action and conversation shifts that Peter was prone to. The man could tell that Peter had been a little sad about May being more busy with work but trying to hide it. Tony pulled the teen into another hug and rested his chin on his head.
"I'm sorry she's been working more shifts, kid." He muttered knowing he would hear it clearly because of his enhanced hearing.
Tony shifted away gently and smiled at Peter before dropping the subject. "Since we had Thai last week, what about pizza or Chinese?" He asked as he turned back towards the couch, making a slight detour to grab the big blanket they liked to use for movie nights before dropping down to sit on the couch. "You can choose whatever." He continued as he shifted into the corner slightly so Peter could squeeze in snuggly next to him the way they both knew he liked to.
Though part of Peter was disappointed when Tony pulled away from the hug, the comfort still meant the world to him. It still amazes Peter sometimes how Tony can always tell his emotions even when he tried to hide them.
The teen followed the older man to the couch like a puppy, “Pizza sounds good. Is that okay with you?” He asked, sitting down, snuggling into Tony. At this point Peter knew Tony didn't actually mind his craving for physical affection.
Peter moved the blanket so it covered them both nice and cozily. God what did I do to deserve such an amazing dad- I mean mentor. An amazing mentor. He could feel the blush start to rise to his cheeks before he could stop it. Dammit, he didn’t even say it out loud! Peter hid the blush by snuggling into Mr Stark more.
"Pizza is perfect, kid." Tony grinned at him when he snuggled into his side and shifted a hand to run it through his curls. How he always has such soft hair I'll never know.
"What movie do you wanna watch? You said a happier one right? What about Brave, Moana, Tangled, Emperor's New Groove?" Tony was slightly surprised that he could actually list the movies. It seemed that he would always remember something as long as it related to Peter Parker
“Mm” Peter hummed in comfort as Tony held him close, running his fingers through his hair. How a guy who always works with his hands can be so gentle and comfortable beats me but I will always relish in it .
Peter smiled when he heard how many movies Tony knew. A few months ago the man wouldn't have been able to tell the difference between Moana and Brave and now he actually knew different movies. It made Peter feel warm inside. “Why don’t we start with Emperors New Groove, it’s the funniest I think. Then after that you pick.”
I wish it could be like this all the time, if May and I could move here and be with Mr Stark and Miss Potts and all the avengers, I would be the happiest person in the world. But no use wishing for things that’ll never happen, I need to just relish in this moment. This happiness.
“What kinda pizza do you want?” Peter asked, trying to move away from his thoughts.
"Good choice." Tony smiled. Emperor's New Groove was one of his favourites.
He gently combed his fingers through when they snagged on a knot in Peter's hair as he contemplated on what pizza he wanted. "I think I want plain cheese pizza. Maybe get a pepperoni for later on so Pep can grab something when she gets home. What do you want?" Tony asked the teen back.
Unknowingly, he echoed Peter's own thoughts from moments before. Je wished that it could be like this all the time, just them together and doing what they enjoy. That Peter and May lived with him and Pepper.
He could picture evenings like this, waiting for Pepper and May to get back from work and them joining in on their movie nights would be amazing. Rhodey, Happy and the rest of the team joining from time to time too.
Peter winced when Tony tried to get a particularly stubborn knot out of his curls, but Tony gently rubbed over the sensitive part, making it all better.
“Pepperoni for Pepper,” The teen giggled, "Pep for Pep.”
Tony laughed at the name pun. "Yeah, it's her favourite pizza type. I find it hilarious."
It would be so nice if Pepper could join us too, she’s like my second mom, well second to Aunt May who pretty much is my mom.
“Cheese sounds good to me. But we might not be able to share with my metabolism.” Peter felt bad to hinder the man, not wanting to waste his money. "But it’s okay! I’m happy to share if you wanna.”
I can’t be a bother to him, I should be grateful enough he’s letting me spend the night.
Tony frowned  slightly at Peter's comment about sharing the pizza. Luckily Peter didn't see it because of the position of his head. "Don't worry about it at all, Roo." Tony reassured him. "I asked FRIDAY to always add to your orders so that you have enough to fill you and have leftovers."
Before Peter could speak, Tony carried on. "And you don't have to worry about it being an inconvenience either since I did the same for Steve and Bucky because they have similar enhanced metabolisms to you."
Tony had a sudden idea. A stroke of genius on his part if he did say so himself. "We should make our own pizza sometime again. Maybe don't tell Pepper though. She still has me banned from the kitchen." Tony smirked. "Buuuut she didn't ban me from the communal one!"
He always manages to make me smile when he calls me Roo, always reminds me of Winnie the Pooh with his friends Kanga and Roo. How does he always know what I’m thinking? He knew I felt like an inconvenience even without me saying it, and they call Wanda the mind reader.
“That would be SO fun to make our own pizza! But I can’t promise I can keep us from being banned from the communal kitchen,” Peter laughed. How could one even be banned from one's own kitchen? The thought made him giggle harder.
Tony laughed as well when he saw the amused curiosity on Peter's face. "I may or may not have accidentally blown up the toaster while I was making Pepper an omelette. And no I don't know how because I wasn't even making toast!" He explained knowing that the kid was curious about it.
"But, in my defence, I hadn't slept for a few days so the file not found error was bouncing around in my brain a lot. It was a disaster at the time but now it's just plain funny."
Yeah yeah, Tony thought to himself, I was a walking disaster but it has gotten a lot better since I've been trying to be a good role model and influence for the spider baby. Take that, toaster.
Peter couldn't stifle his laughter at the ridiculous story, he wanted to ask how Tony could manage to do that but knew that he was prone to even more ridiculous disasters himself.
“It’s definitely funny,” He laughed. “For tonight we should probably stick to ordering out though,” He kept giggling. How does he always manage to make me so happy?
"That would definitely be for the best, kid." Tony smirked "No messed up appliances or kitchens tonight." This kid was amazing. How he always amuses me and makes me smile is something I'll never know. I just know I like it. Pep and Rhodey can laugh all they want but I'm so here for this super dad/mentor thing I have going.
“When are we gonna order?” Said kid asked.
"We can order now if you want? If you get hungry later we can just heat up some of the extras."
He knows me too well, it still surprises me sometimes that he’s so accepting of my stupidly ridiculous metabolism. I never told him I don’t eat enough at home, the amount of food I need is just too much money to ask May to buy, yet somehow he just knows to make sure I always have more than enough food. He really is better than I could ever ask for...
“Sounds good! Wanna start the movie now or once the pizza gets here?” Realising just how many questions he seemed to be asking, Peter cringed inwardly. I hope he doesn’t get annoyed by my endless questions.
"I'm about ready to eat anyway so I'm sure you are more than ready for some cheesy goodness considering that metabolism of yours." Tony answered him. "Now, what pizza do you want?"
“I’ll eat anything, get whatever,” Peter smiled. Even though he ate before he came over, his stomach was already getting that hollow feeling.
I just need to eat something, I don’t care what. Is this annoying? Me needing so much? I ask so much of him, I text way too much, always want to come over, and practically invited myself over for a sleepover. What if he gets sick of me? Should I ask?
Tony was about to ask if the plain cheese with a few other flavours for the others would be okay when he practically felt Peter's mood shift.
“Mr Stark,” Peter began but changed his mind. It would be stupid to ask, if he wasn’t thinking about me being a nuisance before then I’ll just put the thought in his head and neither of us need that .
"Yeah kid?"
“Nevermind.” Peter mumbled, shifting to bury his head in the man's shoulder. Why am I so stupid?
Tony nudged him, trying to encourage Peter to talk but the life just shrugged his it away and burrowed into the man's shoulder and side.
"You okay?" Tony asked in concern, bringing a hand back up to his head and smoothed some stray curls away. Tony lifted his chin so I could look at him properly. "You can ask and say whatever you want, kiddo."
If I let myself, I could just break open. I could just spill out every bit of emotion I’ve been suppressing my whole life. But I can’t, I shouldn’t, it’s crazy to think he’s sick of me, right? He wouldn’t have invited me to spend the night if he was sick of me, and he wouldn’t be holding me like this if he couldn’t stand me. Peter thought.
Peter pulled away from Tony's hand on his chin. Pressing his face back into his shoulder, he mumbled, “S nothing.” It was a feeble attempt and even Peter knew that it wouldn't suffice. “Just dumb thoughts.” He finished.
I get a lot of dumb thoughts for someone Mr Stark says is so smart.
Tony seeing that Peter was at war with himself for saying anything. Sadly, he knew what it felt to second guess yourself like that all too well. He hated that Peter had to feel it too.
Tony let Peter press his face back against him, knowing it was so much easier than the vulnerability that eye contact brought.
"It might be nothing or something you think dumb, but wouldn't it be nice to say it anyway? What's going on up here, Bambino?" He murmured gently to his kid, tracing a finger over his temple.
Despite feeling that his mind was being all dumb, the silly and sweet nickname still gave Peter the slightest smile. Though I know he has a point and I trust he knows what he’s talking about, it’s not so easy just to be honest and open. Maybe if I just say part of it then it would satisfy him, but not maybe me too vulnerable .
“Do you ever get sick of me?” Peter whispered. Since he was still cuddling close to him, Peter wasn’t sure if Tony could even hear him, but he didn’t dare repeat the stupid question. Why do I always have to ruin the mood? I picked a funny movie so we could be happy and I ruined it before we even had a chance to start.
When Peter asked him if he ever got sick of him, Tony felt like his whole body froze. Like he was a tv in the middle of a show that had been unplugged suddenly. "Oh, Tesoro. No! I don't get sick of you." Tony decided to let himself be fully open with his kid. It was hard but he made it easier, brought out a trust in Tony that he didn't know he had. "I couldn't get sick of you if I tried. I always miss you when you aren't around and talking my ear off about Star Wars and Ned, or a puppy you saw on patrol, or the latest food that May attempted only to burn."
He pressed a kiss on the top of his head. "Everything is too quiet when you aren't around. The silence used to be normal but now it bores me and makes me lonely sometimes. I always look forward to the time we spend together and the messages we send to each other. I don't get sick of you, I get the opposite. Unsick? I dunno what the word would be but that's what I'm trying to say here." Tony finished. He wrapped both of arms around Peter and pulled him close. They both always needed these easy hugs from each other
While Tony spoke, Peter found himself blinking back the tears from his eyes. God, he hoped everything he was saying was true.
Peter wrapped his arms around his neck, holding as close as he could to his dad. He didn’t try to correct himself to mentor instead of dad. “‘M unsick of you too.” Peter said into his chest as he hugged him.
Tony couldn't stop the sudden burst of laughter when Peter said he was unsick of hom too. The laugh may have slightly stuck his throat from the rush of affection but that was neither here nor there.
"I love you, bud. So so much. You're my spidey kid." Tony mumbled, resting his cheek on his head, never letting him slip from his place in his arms. Peter hugs are the best
Peter thought his cheeks would catch on fire from how red they were when he said it. “I love you too Da- Mr Stark.” Hopefully he missed that little slip up, I don’t need any more vulnerability today. Peter thought.
Trying to distract him, Peter joked, “And I’m not a kid, I’m a spider man! ” He insisted with a nervous smile.
Tony smiled also at his slip up but didn't comment on it. He could see that Peter was at his limit, especially after he used a joke to deflect. "Nah, you're a spider baby. Ask anyone, May, Pepper, Rhodey. Heck, even FRIDAY."
Just don't ask Karen, Tony thought to himself. That AI was endearingly loyal to Peter.
"Since FRI ordered for us, the pizzas should be here soon. Do you want to start the movie now or wait for it to arrive?"
Peter stayed cuddled up with him, soaking in the comfort. “If ‘m a spider baby then you’re an old iron man.” Even though he knew it was a lame come back, Peter was suddenly too tired to care. Opening up had exhausted him and he couldn't be bothered to think anymore. “Can we start the movie now?” He asked, wanting to focus on something more light hearted, “That okay?”
Tony gasped in faux shock. "How could you betray me like this!?" He dramatically put a hand over his forehead. "I am not old! I am the very picture and essence of youth! I am appalled that you would ever suggest otherwise!" He exaggerated as he poked Peter in the side.
"But, moving on from your treachery, we can start the movie. Do you want a pillow or anything or are you comfortable where you are?" Tony arched a brow at him in amusement at how cuddled Peter was into his side.
Peter smiled at Tony's antics. The fact that he wants to get Peter to laugh makes him smile even bigger. I could never deserve someone so wonderful and kind and caring and loving as him as my mentor.
“Mm” Peter thought, but just the idea of moving from his comfort made his chest tighten uncomfortably, “No you’re comfyyyy” He drew out the word, stating right where he was. Though he did shift a bit so he could see the tv better.
"Well I'm so glad I make such a good pillow then." Tony chuckled and fixed the blanket that had fallen slightly when Peter shifted. "I can add personal pillow to my various monikers now. Genius, billionaire, philanthropist, and personal pillow. Oh, and irondad as Rhodey so affectionately dubbed me." He smiled softly down at Peter and rested his cheek on his fluffy curls.
Peter giggled at that, “if you're my iron dad, then am I your spider-son?”
“Cuz then I know what to put on the Father’s Day card this year,” Peter hoped Tony could feel his smirk even if he couldn’t see it as he faced the tv.
"It works. We can coin it. It'll drive Rhodey insane that he can't use it to annoy us." Tony smirked back.
"FRI, play Emperor's New Groove please?" The only response was the lights being dimmed and the beginning of the movie playing on the tv screen.
Once the movie started Peter asked, “oh! Who’s your favorite character?”
"Kronk. He's a lovable oaf and kinda reminds me of Thor. And you, piccolo ragno?"
“I love kronk too,” The teen said in approval. Not stopping the smile at Tony's nickname for him. The world would end if he ever ran out of nicknames for me.
Only a few minutes into the film, Friday announced that the pizza was here. When Peter I felt Tony shift to get up to get it, he started whining not caring how childish he sounded. “Noo stayyyyy.” He grabbed onto his shirt so that his ‘pillow’ wouldn’t leave.
"Nooo, sustenance." Tony whined back as he chuckled. How Peter simultaneously brings out my dad side as well as my childish side I'll never know.
Tony didn't bother letting Peter go as he got up from the couch. He just hefted him over his shoulder like a bag of potatoes and walked to the elevator to grab the pizza.
It still surprised Peter at times that Tony could carry him around like he was just a little kid. I mean I can’t weigh that little right? Maybe it has something to do with my powers.
Inside the elevator there was a compartment that had been added so that the various take out delivery people placed the food in so that they didn't have to deal with the stammering and gawking. It got old after the first six times that it resulted in cold food.
Tony dropped Peter gently to the ground and gave him some of the pizza boxes to carry. Eight pizzas were a little difficult to carry alone.
Peter easily took the pizzas, relishing in the delicious smell as they brought the boxes back over to the couch and placed them on the coffee table in front of it. No use bringing it to the kitchen when they both know they'll just be eating on the couch anyway.
The teen put them down, checking the labels for Tony's pizza before handing him the box. He sat down next to him, once again putting the large blanket over their laps. “Is there a specific one for me or any?” Peter asked, not remembering if he had asked for a specific  order or not.
"Nah there isn't really. Although I did get you at least one or two that are plain cheese because I know you like that. Otherwise I just had FRIDAY order the kinds we both like so grab whatever." Tony answered as opened his box and passed Peter a napkin when he grabbed one for himself.
“Okie dokie,” Peter grabbed a box at random, opening it up to discover pineapple pizza, “yum,”He smiled and leaned back into the couch, not sure whether it would be weird to cuddle so close to Tony again after being so openly clingy.
Tony pouted dramatically when he saw the pineapple. "I forgot that you and Rhodey have the ability to eat fruit on pizza. It's not right. I can feel  disturbance in the force." He bumped Peter with his shoulder and shifted so that they were sitting close, knees bumping as well as their elbows occasionally when they took a bite from their pizzas.
Peter smiled when he shifted closer. Somehow he just knows I want to be close even without me having to say it. It still astounds me sometimes how close we’ve gotten. He really is like a dad to me... my iron dad. That thought made him smile more as he went onto the next piece of pizza.
After a few moments of silence Tony saw Peter smirk at him, taking a dramatically large bite of the (in his opinion) delicious pizza. “It’s criminal that you don’t like pineapple pizza, it’s clearly the best.”
"What's criminal is that you think pineapple pizza is the best. I shall never accept it. It's a felony." Tony gestured at him with the slice in his hand. He wiped the grease from his fingers with a napkin before nudging the kid. "I'm gonna grab something to drink, do you want anything? There's coke, juice, milk, lemonade, and probably a few other things."
“Mm," Peter thought over the options, "Can I have juice por favor? Do you have orange juice?” He asked, watching Tony throw the part of the blanket that was on him onto Peter's, suffocating him in warmth. I could follow him, so we can keep talking. No no that’s weird, I should stay here.
"Yup sure do. One coke for me and orange for you coming up." Tony darted into the kitchen hoping his hurry to get back to the couch wasn't too obvious. He grabbed their drinks, and darted back, plopping down heavily next to Peter, careful not to spill anything, and passed him his juice.
Tony wriggled around to get comfortable before grabbing the last slice of his pizza. He finished it and wiped his hands again before relaxing back into the couch, coke in hand.
Peter mumbled a thank you with a smile when he was handed the glass. He had to refrain from chugging down the whole glass of orange juice. It wasn't like he would get sick from drinking too quickly but he didn't want to make Tony have to get up again.
He easily went through one entire pizza but stopped himself from grabbing a second pizza, he didn't want to be rude and eat too much of the food.
Tony finished his coke and put the glass on the coffee table. AsIhe did, he noticed Peter's half full glass and empty pizza box. "Have more pizza if you want, kid. I know that one isn't nearly enough for your metabolism." The man grinned reassuringly. "And you can have as much juice as you want as well." He leant forward and grabbed another random pizza and passed Peter the box in hope that he would take the invitation and eat and drink his full.
Peter, after only a moment of hesitation, happily took the pizza box and practically inhaled the first slice. God this pizza is so good.
Between pieces of pizza he laughed at the movie. “This movie is so underrated,” Peter said offhandedly as he finished the second box of pizza. Before grabbing a third, he looked over at his mentor for approval before being greedy.
"Agreed. The 'wrong lever' part is brilliant and I hate it but the cat Yzma turns into is adorable." Tony said in agreement. He turned his head when he felt Peter's eyes on him.
The kid was holding another pizza and his head was tilted in question. He looked like a puppy. "Go ahead, bud. Eat as much as you want." Tony reassured him again as he got up to grab the juice box from the fridge for when Peter's glass finished.
Peter nodded in thanks when Tony let him continue eating even though he himself was far done with his own dinner. Once Tony settled back in, Peter commented, “They really should make a roller coaster for the wrong lever part, would be so great,” He chuckled at his own statement and Tony laughed too.
"They should make it look like it's going up, only to suddenly have Yzma's voice saying 'Pull the lever, Kronk. Wrong lever!' as the ride suddenly drops out of nowhere." The man snickered at the idea and turned back to watching the movie as Peter continued eating. He would occasionally poke Peter at a funny part or they would laugh at something but they mostly sat in content silence.
Peter giggled when Tony continued onto his dumb idea, “Aw that’s the kinda thing you’d see on tumblr,” He snickered and picked up the last slice in his box. By the time he actually felt full he had eaten almost all the pizza that Tony had bought. But thankfully he didn’t seem to mind.
As the movie continued Peter began leaning more and more onto Tony until they were cuddling like before again. Like a dad and his son.
Days like these were Peter's favorite, when they can just be together and have deeper conversations and but also talk lightheartedly about funny movies.
Tony felt him get heavier on his side as the movie went along. He was probably getting sleepy from the food which Tony was happy that Peter had eaten and seemed to enjoy the pizzas. He liked that he could do small things like that for him.
Feeling the kid shift slightly again, Tony shifted as well to lay with his head on the arm of the couch and let Peter snuggle back into his side. He absent-mindedly started running his fingers through his curls again as they watched the movie.
Full from the food and relaxing more from the hand in his hair had Peter finding it harder and harder to keep his eyes open. Every time he blinked his eyes stayed closed longer and longer until they just didn’t open again. Peter didn't let himself fall asleep right away, though. Maybe if I just rest my eyes for a few minutes then I can focus back on the movie after.
Before long he couldn’t focus on the movie anymore, only thinking of the gentle fingers combing through his hair, and how peaceful and comfortable he was. The call of sleep was strong however. He felt like he could sleep forever like this if he let himself.
When Tony noticed that Peter was falling asleep, he started humming slightly, knowing the vibrations soothed him because of his senses. He was more than happy that he would fall asleep, the kid needed the rest.
With the soft glow from the tv and Peter's rhythmic breaths slowing to a gentle snore, Tony soon found himself falling asleep too. Just before he let himself drift off, he tightened his arms around Peter and pressed a kiss to his head.
He let himself all asleep, content to lay there with his Piccolo Ragno.
No one asked but here are some headcanons I have for the different LIs and their relationship to Disney. All the park-related ones I have will be for Disney World (instead of Disneyland). This is a long one so I apologize, I just have Thoughts(TM).
Bobby
Insists on riding journey into imagination every time MC and him go to the park. He knows it’s not as good as it used to be but he still thinks it’s delightful. He never even went back when it was the original ride, but he’s read enough about it to buy into the hype. He definitely owns a plushie of figment
He’s not really one to meet the characters, preferring the shows instead, but he got really blushy the one time he met Belle because she’s his favorite.
Bobby always got the citrus swirl and is genuinely salty that they’ve removed it
He’s a little too into Disney. Whenever MC suggests a vacation he always suggests it and like... Bobs... I want to travel to actual places. He’s definitely made the argument that ‘epcot is basically like travelling!’
His favorite Disney movie is Sleeping Beauty because he loves the art and the music (and secretly really liked the idea of saving a girl who’s vulnerable)
He’s WAY too into the live action remakes. He’ll rant about Belle’s dress and how Emma Watson refusing to wear a corset or structure ruined the design. He paid $30 to watch Mulan which is Big Yikes considering... everything about that.
Noah
He’s not really into Disney. He didn’t watch the movies growing up, and when people have tried to be like !!!you NEED to watch ‘x’!!! He never got over thinking they were overhyped. He definitely did not like Frozen or Tangled, and he justifies it with a bunch of nitpicks he’s learned from articles and blogs but the real reason is that he didn’t want to like them.
He definitely is slightly condescending to people who are big Disney fans (which like... Sir.... You’re a homestuck stan get over it), but if MC admits she really likes Disney he’ll bite his tongue. He’d be happy never having visited the parks, but if MC wants to go he’ll go along without complaining too much.
He gets super overwhelmed in the parks. Lots of people, lots of noise, lots of waiting in the heat, it’s not his scene.
Not to force Bobby/Noah down yalls throat (who am I kidding I love that ship so much), but oh my godddd. Bobby dragging Noah around and excitedly explaining lore and talking about his favorite rides while Noah is quiet and incredibly stressed. Noah’s stress slowly gives way to quiet amusement- he doesn’t like the parks but he LOVES how enthusiastic Bobby is about them. He quietly buys Bobby a ton of merch and intently listens to all of Bobby’s rambling.
After being forced to do basically everything, Noah genuinely enjoys the carousel of progress. He’ll bashfully ask Bobby to ride it at the end of the day, and Bobby will be like ‘we already did?’ and Noah will blush and not say anything. Bobby of course agrees.
His favorite Disney movie is the Hunchback of Notre Dame.
Carl
Enjoys going to the park just fine but ONLY if yall have a fastpass and if he’s able to make an itinerary for the day. He gets pretty stressed if they’re off schedule, but will calm down once they find a quiet corner to sit.
He LOVES avatar land. I think highkey Carl loved the movie and world, so he was already hype for the park, but he adores the immersion and the worldbuilding. He would spend all day just wandering around and not going on any rides if he could. He doesn’t care about Magic Kingdom at all, but always goes specifically for avatar land.
Disney was definitely a hyperfixation of his at one point. I think he didn’t really care all that much about park history, but he loves the corporate politics and knows way too much about Disney history abroad.
He’s one of those dudes who think Disney ruined starwars and refuses to go to Galaxy’s Edge because of it (even if he’d really enjoy it). I want to clarify that he’s not an incel saying that Rey shouldn’t be a main character, he thinks the first new movie was amazing but its potential was squandered.
His favorite movie is Treasure Planet
Henrik
Not huge on Disney but he won’t say no to a theme park. He’s especially into roller coasters, so all of the mountains are his jam. I think he prefers Six Flags, but if MC wants to go to Disney they’ll go. His favorite rides are all the mountains accordingly.
You think they’re staying anywhere other than Fort Wilderness? You’re wronggggg. He’s lowkey salty that it’s so commercialized, but loves the canoeing anyways. He will complain forever about the mosquito bites tho ’ they’re way worse than they normally are’.
Loves!!! the cats!!! He’ll always try to pet them and MC has to remind him they’re feral.
HATES!!! Small world!!!! He thinks it’s really creepy and doesn’t really like slow boat rides anyways.
He always brings games for the long lines and doesn’t mind waiting unless they’re in the sun. He sunscreens up but burns anyways. He carries the backpack and MC doesn’t need to bring a purse- he’s got the water and the storage and the money and everything they could possibly need. MC might find his ‘treating the parks like a hike’ a bit annoying, but always appreciates his preparedness.
His favorite Disney movie is Atlantis (do you see what I’m doing I’m just projecting my favorites onto my favorite LITG characters. Realistically his favorite Disney movie would probably be Brave or The Princess and the Frog, but it’s my sleepover and I get to pick the movie)
Marisol
I shouldn’t even have to say it, but we all know Marisol is a Potterhead, right? She always laments that Universal studios is better and wants to go there instead of Disney. She’ll only agree to go to Disney if they go to Universal first. And she buys a cloak/vest specifically for Universal, but refuses to wear anything themed Disney in the parks. Marisol will act embarrassed if MC wants to wear ears but maam... You created a whole backstory for your self-insert HP character to use in the park...
She loves Haunted Mansion. Full stop, end of thought. She just really likes it and it’s the only line she won’t complain it.
She definitely complains about the crowd and people in general....
She won’t admit how much she likes the shows, despite getting really into them.
Her favorite park is Animal Kingdom because she genuinely likes zoos. Her favorite ride is the Conservation Station boat tour.
Gets excessively sappy during the fireworks display. She’s definitely cried and kissed MC a few times.
Her favorite Disney movie is Frozen II because she has bad taste but also wants wlw representation. She definitely has watched the Tangled tv series and is unironically invested in it, though. I think a lot of Disney movies are her guilty pleasure- she really likes the Tinkerbelle movies and some of the animated kids shows even if she’s super embarrassed about it. She adores Gravity Falls and that’s because she has impeccable taste.
I don't think this is an ask but I wish we got a Ranger's Apprentice animated series/movie instead of a live action
I would love an animated series! I’ve been watching the Tangled TV show and it has this neat storybook style art. I think something heavily stylized like that (or like Spider-Verse 👀) would be amazing
I’ve also been saying for ages that it would work better as a miniseries or a full length show, a la GoT or Good Omens. I think the people in positions to make these things happen are too caught up in the idea of movie adaptations. RA, especially early on, feels more episodic. The pacing would be awful for a movie, even for a series of movies.
Season one would be books 1 and 2, culminating in the duel with Morgarath and Halt just barely missing Will. During the training, throw in some lines about the Temujai warriors, maybe about the Scotti at the border to help set up future seasons
Season two is book 3 and 4. The alternating viewpoints in book 3 would make for great A and B plots in episodes
Season three is book seven. Out of order books are a lot easier than out of order episodes in a TV show, so I think it would have to be chronological. After Will splits off, he spends the episode getting lost until he collapses. There are two options—either the last moments are the other rider finding him, or the beginning of the next episode is that. Depends on if you want a darker tone. Also, Will being separated allows for easy A and B plot structure
Season four is books 5 and 6. I would adore Malkalam’s interrogation fully animated. Can you imagine the effects? And Grimsdell wood in general. So spooky, I love it. I forgot to mention that prior to now, Alyss is made a more important character. She shows up to more things (welcome home parties, downtime, etc). As fans of the book, we know she’s going to be the love interest and we also know that she’s kind of forced in, so we can avoid that with hindsight. (I would also be okay with a bigger adaptations change to make Hill canon, but for the sake of argument, I’m trying to stick as close to the books for this as possible.)
Season five is books 8 and 9. I think at this point in the series you could argue for the books to be split because of length but I like how cleanly the arcs break up. You could either have the same VA for Halt and Ferris and let the actor have fun with it, or have two different VAs who sound similar. I could honestly argue for either way. Both have merit.
Season six is book ten. If we made it this far, the show will hopefully be popular enough that they can pull in some really good consultants on historical Japan so that everything is respectful. Imagine the landscapes, though. Animated, stylized Japanese topography. I’d die
Lost Stories is an odd duck. I would love to include them, but it’s hard to find where they’d fit in a way that doesn’t ruin the flow. We could make the seasons longer, a little more flowing, and split the books up further, but I personally like this structure. If someone wants to figure that out in more detail, I’m happy to see it work, though. Maybe a miniseries between seasons, animated by different people in different styles to give newer artists a chance to work on a bigger project?
Adapting the story now that it’s complete lets us address issues and ideas to make the new version better. More diversity, clearing up the timeline a bit, making minor characters more defined early on, etc. The biggest thing, in my opinion, is the magical elements. I would love more magic in RA, but there needs to be a careful balance because we have arcs later on that are explicitly about fakers, both arcane and divine. But there are also moments that are undeniably magical—the Wargals, The Kalkara, and the hypnotism in book 6. That’s not how real hypnotism works and is borderline magical in its effects and application. I think if more magical elements are added to maintain consistency, they should be grounded and treated as natural. Beasts that come from mythology but are just more weird animals, for example. Maybe give the Rangers a more magical connection to nature that Halt has to sever when he’s banished. The Bedouin live around springs and oases that extend their lives a bit and give them stronger bodies that can withstand the desert. No spells or transformations or anything really flashy. That way, there becomes a distinction between “real” magic and what Malcolm and Tennyson do. The Wargals aren’t treated like fantasy monsters. No one really questions how they’re real. Magic like that is just part of the world.
That would be the biggest change. (And canon Hill if half the fandom wouldn’t be upset over losing Willyss.) I’d love to see an otherwise faithful adaptation of the series. I think structurally and stylistically, it’s already set up for a great TV show. And making it animated like anon suggested would be absolutely amazing, particularly if the producers allow a more unique look rather than trying to mimic classic Disney CGI style. It looks great, but it’s so boring and they all look the same. Give me Tangled the Series style, or Into The Spider-Verse, or even a more traditional comic book style (think Teen Titans or Batman the Animated Series) or something inspired by anime or more recent Western cartoons.
I’m not going to tackle BB and TRR because I haven’t read most of them, but they would most likely be spinoffs/sequels. Same with TEY, though I don’t know if there’s enough there to make a full, satisfying show. (I haven’t finished TEY either whoops) I also didn’t mean for this to get away from me like this, but here you go. All my RA adaptation thoughts in one place
Everyone’s in love (but you and me)
Summary: Everyone at your best friends wedding seems to be in love. But you and Tom.
Words: 2892
Warnings: This is all just fluff, please enjoy and remember to send feedback/reblog if you enjoyed it!
This is a piece for a writing challenge!! (wow, Sophie actually posts for one of the many, many writing challenges she entered? unheard of!) it’s for @marvelousxtsh and @peeterparkr romcom writing challenge. the quote is “Number of current boyfriends: Zero.“ from Bridget jones’ diary
Tumblr media
Nothing about weddings were fun for Tom, who was so used to being alone that he was hardly phased when he ended up sitting alone at the table with a creaseless table cloth beneath his untouched expensive wedding food. He’d barely even lifted the fork, only choosing to glance briefly at his reflection to make sure his hair was still in place and there was nothing caught between his teeth.
It wasn’t that he was used to being alone. It was just that he wasn’t used to having someone's hand to hold or hair to wrap around his fingers. He had long forgotten what it was like to have someone tangled up between his sheets as the sun streams in through the slit in the curtains and plush lips to kiss when his got bored.
He only knew what it was like to have temporary lovers who escaped before dawn, throwing on items of clothing back to front or inside out and wiping off the remains of their smudged lipstick.
Tom was so used to relying on one night stands for the slightest bit of intimacy that the sight of the loved up couples around him made him screw his face up. Even if deep down inside, he was itching to have someone to hold too – someone that wasn’t his dog who enjoyed snuggling up beside him at night.
Some guests were drunk on the alcohol, barely letting their champagne glasses run empty while others were love drunk. Sipping solely on gentle sways in the centre of the ballroom, consumed with the thought and presence of the other.
Tom swirls the liquid around in his glass, alcohol still staining his tongue but he was nowhere near drunk. He hated being drunk – being as unaware of his actions as could be and the last place you’d find him utterly wasted would be his best friends wedding. And when he had to do a heartfelt, humorous speech too? The last of the liquor in his glass would remain untouched for the majority of the evening.
Romance paints the room, with shades of red scattered at every angle.
Red, the most romantic colour. It stood for love, passion, intimacy. But it also stood for anger, frustration. There were pictures of the newlyweds surrounding the large tent, some Tom swore he’d never seen despite having known the couple for nearly ten years now.
Across the room you sit on one of the wooden chairs, beaming as you watch with stars in your eyes as your best friend sways left and right, a smile that could reach the Caribbean highlighting her features. Others danced, some giggled over overflowing drinks.
You twiddle your thumbs. That sounded so pathetic. You were at a wedding for christ sake – twiddling your thumbs as if that were the most interesting thing to do right now. Your eyes would land on dancing, cheerful couples for a couple of seconds before they’d land back on your plate that looked like it’d been licked clean.
You had to be the only person without a date to this darn thing, having found conversation with a couple of the elderly women so you didn’t look like an absolute loser at this thing but still, you found yourself alone at the table while everyone else made basked in the presence of another, wrapping themselves up in each other's arms until they were no more then a mess of tangled limbs.
Your foot taps against the floor, heel remaining on the transferable flooring. The first mistake you’d made tonight was wearing heels to an outdoor wedding. The heel sunk into the sludge, brown muck sticking to the bottoms. But you weren’t one to allow a little mud to ruin your night! No way.
How could you when you were wearing the most beautiful lavender dress, with silver jewellery adorning your neck and wrist. Sure, there was no diamond ring hugging your ring finger like the one your best friend had been gifted and maybe your parents had expressed their disappointment that their twenty-five-year-old daughter was still living alone – something that had you feeling mildly perplexed. (because you’re only twenty-five. How were you meant to settle down when you couldn’t even figure out what ready-made meal you wanted for dinner?)
The song comes to an end and you force your painted lips into a grin, clapping your hands together. Crowds cheer in joy. Your heart aches from hidden loneliness.
No one leaves the dance floor just yet, feet remaining planted on the tarmac. Maybe they were too lost in each other to be bothered by the voice that begs them to take a sip of water or to finally consume the meals that sit around each table.
Love. Maybe you craved the feeling of being in love after being alone for so long. You, a hopeless romantic who had watched nearly every romcom on Netflix twice desired it below small ‘I’m okay on my own!’s’
Maybe you just wanted to enjoy dessert without pitiful whispers being shared about the one girl sitting alone.
You roll your eyes, reminding yourself that they called it falling in love for a reason.
Tapping your foot and pursing your lips, your eyes roam around the room hoping for an escape before they find someone who just like you, was enjoying the company of themselves.
He was cute, really. With slicked back brown hair and a suit that perfectly hugged his form. It was probably one of those not too expensive rental ones and maybe... just like your dress that made you feel like some kind of Disney princess, it had to be returned on Monday.
If you were really a Disney Princess then you’d most likely have a prince by now.
Nothing can stop you from getting up, straightening out the bottom of your above knee length dress and heading over to him in the heels. Not even the doubts that plague your mind although they were strong and tempting to give in to.
What if he has a girlfriend and she’s just gone to the bathroom? Or a boyfriend!
What if he’s an ass?
What if he hates me?
“Do you want to dance?”
You ask before you can give in to the magnitude od doubts – slipping your bottom lip between your teeth. You chew softly, pursing them when the stranger looks up.
Tom gives you a confused grin, brown eyes the colour of the coffees you sip on every morning with a thin layer of foam and cinnamon. Maybe it was the lighting that painted the walls of the large tent but you saw galaxies – beautiful arrays of stars.
One second he was poking around at his food, glaring at his own reflection in the fork and the next he was looking at you.
“Sorry, what?” He cocks his head. Tom squints his eyes, trying to make out the endless details and decorations that rest in your hair under the light – from the sequenced bobby pins that hold your hair back and the small patterns on the waist of the dress.
He knew you. You had walked down the aisle with a bouquet of flowers in your hands while Tom stood at the front of the alter tapping his feet. The room had been thick with comments about your dress and your makeup before the bride stepped out. Both of which were nothing less then perfect and while Tom knew shit all about makeup and fashion, he couldn’t disagree.
You had shone, practically glowed. And all Tom knew was that you were one of the brides closest friends. Someone his best mate had probably bought up in a conversation or two.
“I’m asking you to dance with me. I know that if I don’t get at least one dance in at my best friends wedding I’ll regret it for the rest of my life, and truth be told I’m sick of looking like a loser by myself. And it looks to me like you don’t have anyone to dance with too.” You huff, sticking a hand out. “So, will you please dance with me?”
“Don’t you have a boyfriend or something? Everyone else here seems to be in love.” Tom furrows his brows and you begin to regret your decision to demand the stranger to dance.
Suddenly you want to curl up back into your shell and wallow in endless embarrassment.
“Number of current boyfriends: Zero.“ You huff. “Look, It took a lot for me to come over here and ask you to dance and I’m really starting to regret it.”
Tom smiles at how assertive you are, though you’re quietly pleading with your eyes for him to hurry up and take your hand.
“Only if you promise you don’t bite.” He jokes, slipping his hand into yours. “I’m Tom, by the way.”
You grin, swallowing the embarrassment that had previously sent you into a fit of nausea. Large, calloused fingers intertwine with your own and the palm of his hand is slightly cold – you blame the glass of champagne he’d carried around all night and lead the best man onto the dance floor where couples make way, slipping aside with ease.
“I know, you’re the best man. Y/F/N mentioned you a few times and I’ve seen photos.” The tune shifts as the song changes and a familiar beat begins. Your head is reeling, being so close to an utter stranger had you doubting whether or not you’d be able to pull out your best moves and not end up looking like a fool. But Elton Johns voice soothes you, sending waves of reassurance throughout you.
“I’m Y/N.” You finally say.
“So I have a fan club, huh?” Tom teases.
“Not all the things I’ve heard have been good but I will say, you sound like quite the charmer.”
Nothing else is said as your hand slips out of his. Lonely fingers dance their way to his collar before they wrap around his neck, intertwining at the back. Tom hesitates before letting his hands rest on either side of your waist. He hardly lets them rest, allowing his fingertips to merely ghost over the fabric.
Is he too high? Too low? Were you regretting your decisions?
I hope you don’t mind
That I put into words
How wonderful life is while you’re in the world
The song oozes romance. It was one not meant to be shared between two lonely twenty-something-year-olds who just happened to stumble together for the first time ever but couples long in love. Much like the newlyweds who sway with smiles adorning tired faces and the couple next to you who had been married thirty-four years.
The thought hardly crosses your mind as you and Tom begin to rock back and forth, both attempting to find a pace that fit. It’s a little awkward ad you both stumble once or twice. Tom chokes for a moment before regaining himself and you can’t stop your laced hands from resting over his gell covered curls at the back of his head. It’s intimate and neither of you says a word for a moment – Tom doesn’t even mention the realisation that had him smiling softly.
While your dress is a gorgeous lavender, you smell like a hypnotizing combination of strawberries and wedding cake.
And maybe you like the feeling of having another human so close, you still felt his presence in the palm of your hands.
You glance at him, mascara painted lashes batting together. “This isn’t so bad. Better then sitting alone, is it?”
“I haven’t decided yet,” Tom replies quickly, hasty eyes racing around the room before they land back on your face. Your features fall, hurt and uncertainty filling your eyes and Tom realises that what he said could’ve possibly come out wrong. “I didn’t mean it like that – I mean, I don’t dance. I don’t know how. I kind of suck at slow dancing.”
“You’re doing great so far, I could hardly tell.”
Hesitantly, you allow your head to rest on the stranger's shoulder and even from there you can feel the unsteady beating of his heart. You barely feel the boy gulp, swallowing back his nerves. Tom felt like he was back at his high school prom, nervously trying to dance with the girl he’d asked over a cupcake and a bouquet of flowers.
He had stepped on her toes more times then he could count that night and left the dance alone.
Closing his eyes for a second, Tom tries to think up a sentence that won’t make him sound like an absolute weirdo. Opening his eyes, they find a bouquet of orange feathers and Tom snorts.
“Have you seen that ridiculous hat the bride's aunt is wearing?” Tom asks suddenly, speaking over the lyrics to mock the set of orange frills.
You chuckle, vibrating against his black suit. “She wore that to their Christmas dinner too – and thanksgiving. The colour kind of reminds me of carrots… or orange soda.”
Tom stifles his laughs, fingers tightening their grip slightly around your waist. Just to the point where you can now feel his fingertips through the lavender dress.
“It’s like candy corn.” Tom chuckles, “I used to only eat candy corn every year for Halloween when I was a kid, you know?”
You try not to chuckle, focusing on the hands on your waist and the heavy beating of your heart. You fit so perfectly, inching together like two pieces of a puzzle. You almost hate how warm he makes you feel.
“I hated candy corn,” You tell him, “Even now I can’t stand the stuff, I guess I just enjoy savoury foods more. I always get a sore stomach after eating sweet foods.”
Tom hums, his wandering thoughts telling him that this was exactly what he needed. Not wanted, because Tom wouldn’t admit to wanting bucketloads of affection. He wouldn’t admit to craving the feeling of bare hands resting on his shoulders and warm breath in the crook of his neck.
But here he was, melting under the touch of a near stranger.
Melting was a bit of an overstatement. His heart was in a frenzy, mind positively, absolutely reeling.
The lyrics worm their way into his head, Elton Johns heavenly voice pulling him down to earth and closer to the girl in his arms. All he knew was her name and the fact that maybe he’d just found his soulmate.
Maybe Tom was being overdramatic about the whole soulmate thing – but he wasn’t one to fall head over heels every girl he runs into. But in you, Tom saw potential. Potential that he could grow weak at the knees on your first date and maybe he’d allow his cheeks to turn a soft shade of pink as he mutters compliments across the dinner table.
“Have you ever danced like this with someone before?” Tom asks, speaking softly so only you can hear. It’s not like anyone else was listening in any way – everyone except the groom and bride who smirked knowingly at one another.
“Not really, no.” You respond, trying to think back to a time you’d swayed like this with merely the top of the tent separating you from an array of stars.
“You’re really good.” And I’d like to do this again.
“Thank you,” You speak, head resting on his shoulder. You hope you’re not getting makeup on his suit – but you also hope that Tom is aware of the fact that his heart is beating way too fast and that may be dangerous. “You’re pretty good for a beginner.”
You both continue to sway as the song comes to a close, both secretly hoping that the song could somehow extend itself and you could just remain there for a few more moments
The lyrics would be stuck in your head for days, as well as the feel of being cuddled close and the shallow breathes slipping past your dance partners lips. In fact, from being so close to him you’d learnt that Toms breath was minty… like he’d somehow had the chance to chew on an eclipse mint in between meals.
The tune is drowned out by the cheers of the crowd and you hesitantly remove your head from his chest, brushing away strands of hair that had chosen to stick to the side of your face during the dance.
“This is going to sound really stupid but I know we just met like… three minutes ago but, will I see you again?” Tom asks, quirking a brow. A hand still remained on your waist, nimble fingers barely ghosting over the fabric of your lavender bridesmaid dress. The one you had promised to return to the store by twelve o’clock on Monday.
“You’re the best man, correct?” You reply. I want to see you again too.
Tom nods, brown curls falling over his forehead. “Correct.”
“So you’re staying in the hotel they assigned us?” You were unsure if your next set of words came out as a suggestion or not. But it didn’t matter all that much. “I’m staying in room 302, I’ll see you at breakfast. Maybe sooner if fate allows it.”
“P-Perfect.” He coughs, cheeks turning a peachy shade of pink. “Perfect.”
