Shaking hands reaching to set around my bare throat but

You can't do it, can you?

Eyes on the prize, the life moving rhythmically under my skin, but all you can do is marvel at the life as it radiates from me

All it would take is one more inch to close the distance and just enough force to close off my airway but those hands find the back of my head instead

You close that distance

Pull my body flush against yours

You could end me here, drown me in your frustration and use me to snuff all your sorrows

But I'm delicious on your tongue and sugary against your lips as you find my heartbeat beneath that roving mouth

Apologies and prayers and curses and promises spill like blood onto my skin as we sink to the floor in a pile

I pull from you the anguish with butterfly wings for words and I lay it out before us like a portfolio as I bury you within me

It flows between us and the heavy breaths grows even and smooth as you remember why you came

Give it to me and I will walk the garden with you

My pulse can wait a second longer
