Grimm Brothers
The Grimm brothers collected folktales for a variety of reasons. After going to university, the brothers meet Friedrich von Savigny, who was their muse to Germanic folktales and literature. However, the reason for which they began to collect said folktales was because the brothers wanted to craft a “scholarly treatise” of traditional folktales from stories that had been passed down generation after generation. The main reason the brothers collected these folktales was for culture. Due to the relation these folktales had with the common folk, these folktales helped those find an identity within popular culture. All the folk tales collected and recorded reflected German society at the time. It helped in identifying Germany’s cultural identity. In these folktales, the most common setting is forest-like, and the most common theme is a happy ending. There is usually a villain, such as an evil stepmother, who loses in the end. These are effective settings, characters and plots because they relate with how Germany was as a society and country at the time. Most of Germany was underdeveloped (in terms of industrialization), and the common folk could relate with these stories because Germany was a very wooded country. In other words, a lady living in the woods with her family was not a rare occurrence in Germany. These are extremely effective tactics because the commonfolk can relate to these stories, and due to their happy endings, they like to read them. They are family-friendly and it increases the popularity of these stories. No, there are no tales similar to those of the Grimm brothers. They are unique, pertaining mainly to Germany. France had similar tales, and other countries as well, but the Grimm tales had a unique twist perse, that other countries did not bring to these stories,
There are various consistent themes in the works we have analyzed, but the one theme that is appearing the most is death. Throughout every work we have analyzed in class, someone most likely always dies. I feel like this is a consistent theme because it puts emphasis on the reality of life and that happy endings are not always going to happen. It is an easy theme, and it provides a sense of suspense (or shock) to the reading that no other theme can give. The theme of death is a dark one, and while it may be the villain, Perse, who dies, death is still prevalent. Other themes can include happy endings (for the hero), good vs. evil (hero vs. villain). These two themes are also consistent because it provides, as well, a sense of suspense for the reader. In terms of a happy ending, everybody loves a happy ending. It will keep the reader satisfied, and with the good vs. evil conflict, it provides that suspense that readers want in a story that will draw attention and keep the reader interested throughout. All of these themes are common in literature of other cultures. If we were to talk about literature in today’s world, British culture does a good job at this. In the book, Harry Potter, there is a consistent theme of death, good vs. evil, and in the end, a happy ending. These themes are consistent throughout other literature and cultures because, as previously stated, they keep the reader interested. Throughout the tales, readers become attached to the characters and want the good character to get their happy ending, and they want the bad character to lose. It is because this is simply what most people like to read. The audience likes to see the good guys win, and see the bad guys lose. It provides that suspense and characterization that readers are looking for to keep their eyes glued to the page.
The Grimm tales and romantic writings from the medieval period of Germany both contain similarities and differences. Comparing the romantic short story The Elf King to that of Little Red Hood, a Grimm tale, one can notice that there are similar themes in each story. In each story, it can be said there is a villian. In the case of The Elf King, the elf king, and Little Red Hood, the wolf. These villains both try to lure the children of the story, to kill them. Although they are both two separate ideas in each story, the end result would be each child’s death by fault of the villain in each story. However, even with the similarity of themes and storytelling, the endings are two separate ideas. In Little Red Hood, along with the other Grimm tales, there is a happy ending for the main character(s). Red kills the villain, the wolf, and survives and learns her lesson. However, in The Elf King, the villain, in the end wins, and the child of the story ends up dead. These romantic writings during this time period were often written with a melancholy tone. There were no happy endings. In the Grimm tales, the villain almost always lost, and there was almost always a happy ending. This can indicate that during the time the Grimm tales were written, Germany was doing good. Since these stories were written with such a positive, happy-go-lucky way of life, German society was progressing, and people were happy. However, during the times of the romantic writings, people were welcoming depression, sadness, and wallowing. One can assume that during the time these romantic writings were written, these writers could be compared to what is emo in the current day. Writers of the romantic period did not see positives, happiness. These writers focused mainly on stories that would invoke feelings, while writing with feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and sorrow.
One major historical event that impacted the way German literature and culture were created, was the protestant reformation. The protestant reformation began when Martin Luther put his work, The 95 Theses, on the church’s door. Luther had never thought that his 95 these would start a reformation so grand. With his only intention to be allowed to have his voice heard, Luther had never thought that the violence would occur to such an extent that which it did, only due to his 95 theses. Due to the fury his 95 theses caused in the church, Luther continued with protesting against the church. His 95 theses were an attack on the catholic church and the Pope and many people could relate to what his 95 theses had stated. His 95 theses started discussion among the Holy Roman Empire. It allowed people to see what was actually going on inside the church, and allowed them to know the truth. His 95 Theses was the beginning of the protestant reformation which led, in the end, to the fall of the Holy Roman Empire. The Protestant Reformation changed German literature and culture forever. What was once prohibited by the Catholic Church, began to be written about. New ideas began to spread, due to the creation of the printing press, and people began to talk about and express ideas that were once illegal and could lead to, at worst, execution. The protestant reformation was highly influential leading up to the second major historical event, the Age of Enlightenment. Begun after the protestant reformation, the Enlightenment was a movement made to counteract the way things had been done in the past. Whether governmental, societal, etc. During the enlightenment, people focused on new ideas such as knowledge and reason, and separation of church and state. The Enlightenment led to new works, such as painting, literature, plays and more. Many things that were rejected during the rule of the Holy Roman Empire, in other words prohibited, began to be expressed during this time. The Protestant Reformation was highly influential to the Enlightenment period and many ideas expressed throughout and during the Protestant Reformation play a part in the Enlightenment. In the Age of Enlightenment, those ideas expressed during the Protestant Reformation were further expanded on. The works done during the Age of Enlightenment were stretched and done to a greater extent than those done during the Protestant Reformation. This leads to a greater and more sentimental understanding.
The original Grimm tales are different from the modern adaptations for one obvious reason. Disney. In this day and age, it is not about sticking to the story. The Grimm tales stuck to the stories as they were told. They recorded these stories from German folk, and didn’t change them necessarily in order to fit an audience. These stories were to preserve and record German culture. However, these days, stories are changed in order to make money. The stories are changed to be more interesting towards a certain demographic, in this case, children. These modern adaptations, often always done by Disney, need to be kid-friendly so that all audiences can watch them. This way, Disney is able to make profit off of these stories, and it is how they built, and continue to build, one of the largest business empires in the world. These modern adaptations need to appeal to the modern day, and not relish in the past. If these stories were told as they were written in the Grimm tales, they would not be interesting. They would be a bore, Disney would not make money, and there would be no point in making these modern adaptations. Overall, it’s about the money. Disney does what Disney needs to do to whatever story, even if it means changing it almost completely while sticking with just the foundations of the story, in order to grow as a company, gain a larger profit, and continue to produce more. One example of these differences is with the modern adaption of Rapunzel. The German-folk tale, Rapunzel, known as Rampion in the English translation, tells the story of a young girl sold as a prize for stealing from a witch’s garden. Off the bat, the title is different from the English translation. Known in German as Rapunzel, but English as Rampion, the Disney modern adaption kept her name as Rapunzel. In German, it sounds cute. However, in English, Rampion sounds just gross. Disney kept this name, most likely, for sound-reasons because Rapunzel sounds like a better name than Rampion, and that is a fact. To summarize, in the Grimm tale, Rapunzel is born to a husband and a wife. This couple stole rampions from the witch's garden, that they could see from outside their back window. When the husband was caught stealing these rampions, the witch would forgive him at the cost of their newborn child. She named the daughter Rampion, and so-on. The whole beginning of this story is completely different from the modern adaption by Disney. Rapunzel, as called in the Disney adaption, is born to the king and the queen of Corona. The queen becomes sick while pregnant, so using a magic flower, they heal the queen and the baby in utero. However, an evil old woman, named Gothel, used the magic flower to stay young, so late at night, she sneaks into the castle and steals Rapunzel from her family, using her to stay forever young. From the start, the stories take two separate turns. Gothel, the evil antagonist, in the movie is not a witch, but in the Grimm tales, she is a witch. In the Grimm tales, she does not use Rapunzel to stay young, in the movie however, she does. In the movie, Gothel steals Rapunzel from the castle of Corona, but in the Grimm tale, Gothel takes Rampion as the cost of stealing from her garden.
In the show, Once Upon a Time, the character Rumpelstiltskin is known as The Dark One. He is the most powerful dark sorcerer, and is unable to die. Comparing his story to the one of the Grimm brothers, they are similar, with various differences. There is a miller’s daughter, who is extremely beautiful. She delivers flowers to the kingdom weekly, but is tired of the way she is treated, as in low-class. She tells the king she is able to spin straw into gold. Similarly, she is locked into a tower until all the string is spun into gold. This is when things begin to take a twist. In the modern adaption, Rumplestiltskin appears, but the miller’s daughter, who is known as Cora, insists that he teaches her how to spin straw into gold, unlike the Grimm tale where Rumple does it for her. The deal is her first-born, but a twist happens when Cora and Rumple fall in love with each other, and he changes the deal. In the end, Cora rips her heart out, so she will not have to feel emotions as love is weakness, and does not go off with him. Rumplestiltskin does not die and rip himself into pieces, but Cora does not have to raise her child, since he had changed the contract upon confessing their love for each other.
In honesty, the stories written by the Grimm brothers are boring. Since they are stories recorded by the brother’s based on true events, German society during this time period was boring, but happy. Maybe there were a lot of widows during this time, due to the constant reappearance of evil stepmothers. However, each Grimm story ended with a happy ending, so although the stories appear cold, and harsh, to modern-day society, Germans were relatively happy people, with a strong backbone, and not very sensitive. German parents wanted their kids to grow up to be strong. This differs from modern society because, as I stated earlier, modern society wants a good story to stay entertained and interested. Modern society does not want stories where characters die, where people are harmed, and where there is not any bad, in general. German people back then, were simple people with a simple life. They did not think too much into things, were not very sensitive, and had a strong mental-mind.

Okay, so Matthew thinks he's got this whole Raven of the Dreaming business down pat, right?
What? It's been a hundred years. There was one harrowing moment where he thought that they were all gonna lose the Boss and end up with Daniel becoming the new Boss but that didn't happen, thank Christ and all His Angels (especially Michael) for that.
But hey, things worked out, right? The Boss is happily married to Hob Gadling and it's kinda sweet how those two had never seemed to have left the "honeymoon phase" what with all the cooing and flirting via poetry.
(It had the added benefit of sending Desire of the Endless into a total hissy fit because ewww not my brother ick ick ick nooooo and apparently there WAS such a thing as Brain Bleach™ which was just karma, in Matthew's considered opinion.)
Anyway!
There had been a few weird happenings in the Dreaming lately, what with Lucienne suddenly finding the Library completely upside down, for starters. Then, there was that day where everyone seemed to be suffering the worst Migraine in History and the Dreaming had collectively gone, "Yeah, nope, we're not going to be working today. Eurgh."
And then, there were a few nights where everyone just woke up craving all sorts of food. Like Matthew himself suddenly just wanted a pizza with all the toppings, including pineapple, for Chrissakes and pineapple was a mortal sin against pizza, worthy of being damned to the lowest pit of hell, okay?!
So Matthew just gets this strange compulsion, like he needed to check things out over by the Giant Rapunzel Patch™ - which, apparently, was in use by the more Fairy Tale-inclined dreams. Sure, whatever - Matthew wasn't exactly a big fan of eating his vegetables. Sorry, kids.
And he settles down by this utterly ginormous patch of rampion and finds... a baby.
A very familiar looking baby.
Look, the kid looked very much like a certain Lord of Dreams - what with the whole Snow White routine, right down to the rosebud lips in that Familiar Pout, protesting his current indignity with all his might.
Matthew manages to scrounge up the softest blanket he could find and wraps the kid up, a minor feat, what with the lack of opposable thumbs. But he did it and he flew off to the Castle with the baby, who calmed down immediately, much to Matthew's relief.
His Darkness was oddly unsurprised when Matthew deposited the kid into his arms, snuggling him close and greeting him with a: "Hello, my little love. Welcome home."
Look, Matthew could be forgiven for the incoherent: "Uh, Boss, how?!!! And what's his name?!"
Dream declined to answer the first question. But the answer to the second was, "His name is Oliver. His other father will be very glad to meet him."
Oliver, the little Prince of the Dreaming, was just as delighted to meet his Da, at least as far as they could tell with the happy gurgling and cooing.
-end-
Footnote the First: Dream is STILL refusing to explain how Oliver came to be, other than: "It is all very much my husband's fault."
Footnote the Second: Hob's only response to this is: "Welp, when two people love each other very much..."
Footnote the Third: Oliver's godparents include a Muse, one Really Old Guy, an Archangel, Death of the Endless and Rose Walker.
Footnote the Fourth: Oliver's first complete sentence was "Shaxbert yucky!" much to the delight of his other father. Look, if Dream wasn't singing him lullabies, he tended to fall asleep to Hob's infamous Shakespeare Rants™!

I am here to talk about my OCs!
Because @elianaroselight and I have talked about them so much we developed 4 RPs about them (that have been going for over a year now) and got a whole system going
Buckle up, it's long
First, there's Ju Ling's family, who now has 3 mates and 7 children (without counting the ones she lost). Her mates are Ju Jing the oni, Ri Shi and the white tiger of the west, Baihu. Her siblings are Hua and Ping, who have, respectively, the vermilion bird of the south, Zhuque, and the azure dragon of the east, Qinglong, as their mates.
Then there's Yue Shi and his mate Fengbao. Feng became friends with their doctor Jiahao, who had two twin kits that became friends (and enemies if you ask Shu) with Feng's kits. Jiahao's husband is Pingyi, who teaches sign language, and is friends with Ju Jing because he and his sister (name missing) were all at the same orphanage. Pingyi is also Cixin's teacher, Zan's adopted son. He's not mute or def but has trouble speaking and often communicates by repeating sounds or words (in the voice of the person that spoke them). Cixin and Tai Shi (one of Ju Ling's cubs) have pet ducks together.
The biological mothers of Tai Shi and the rest of the tiger cubs are Lan (who has Tai Shi, 2 tiger cubs that she lost, and Ju, a lynx cub she adopted) and An (who has Jingyi, Ling Min, Heng and Yawen) Tai Shi's dad is Qiong Qi, no one likes him. Baihu is the father of the other cubs. Depending on the AU, An and Lan are platonic mates with Ju Ling and the others and live in a huge ass house.
But anyway, Baihu is a big sweetheart who does his best to be a good baba. He loves seafood and spicy food and Ju Jing and Ri Shi very much feed into that. Lan grew a passion for gardening and plants and it was a great bonding moment for her and Ju Ling.
But anyway, all of An's cubs are adorable Jingyi likes plants and helps her moma with her garden. She even found a salamander once and wanted to keep it as a pet. Heng loves the sky and the sea, which works well with his uncle Ping, who works at an aquarium, and his yeye who used to be an astrologist. Yawen likes the sky, but specifically the clouds. He loves Wukong's nimbus and asks him to conjure it any time he comes over. And Ling Min is a little fighter that loves dragons and adores her gugu Mei.
Then there is Bai He's family. Obviously, her parents are the general Ba and Beng. Her wife is Zhi Hao, a gibbon demon the size of a wardrobe which works as a blacksmith. So you know, guaranteed thirst trap. Their children are Hua Mei, the oldest girl, Hao the only boy, and their twins Guiyin and Li Lei who is named after the empress of the kingdom of women, who Bai He is friend with.
There's also Kai Hu's group of friends! They call themselves the lost ones because Kai's cousin calls him Peter Pan. They are Chao a cat fish demon (not a catfish. a cat and fish demon), Juan a one-eyed cat demon, Fen a bunny demon, Bo the only human and Huangshu, a gibbon demon that was adopted into Kai's family and became his cousin.
And then there's Shu's group (she is one of Yue Shi and Fengbao's triplets kits), aka Lupin gang wannabe. Shu is of course Lupin, then we have Leale, a dog demon who is 100% based on Jigen, I'm not even going to hide that, and just discovered that he has 2 siblings, and Rampion, who was made as a joke with Skelle but he fits in this group of misfits. And I can't forget the Fujiko of the group, Junjie, who is also one of Jiahao's kits. The other one of Jiahao's kits is Xinyi who married Bao, Shu's second brother.
Last group that I can remember is Ling Min's family. Her mate is Hebo, a leopard gecko demon, and their adopted kids: Xu Qiu a dear and lion demon, Bian a they/them human, Hongbo an otter demon and Wuyue a baby lizard demon that Xu Qiu found in the snow

give me the most random tlc hc's you have about the crew during the revolution
oh yes please!
number one, wolflet DID NOT HAVE SEX ON THE RAMPION VIOLETA I SWEAR TO GOD I WILL FIGHT YOU TO THE DEATH ON THIS
wolf sang to himself and hummed while making coffee
jacin was purposely luxurious in using the rampion’s supplies. maybe because it had been a while before he could be mean to his peers without punishment, so he took this chance to mess with cinder. because he’s a little bitch.
iko and cress were very close. their friendship started when iko cut her hair and cress confessed to iko about her feelings for thorne. i have no idea if iko’s mental age is fourteen or forty five, but i think it’d be a fun experience for her to just be a girl and have fun. and cress totally did weird technology programming stuff to her. sounds creepy but. oh well.
kaider had unsatisfactory sex for the first time on the rampion and felt a little embarrassed about it for a while, but they eventually powered through it and kept their relationship strong.
wolf wanted to grow a beard, like a huge one, but felt that it would only bring attention to the fact that he’s TWENTY THREE YEARS OLD, so reluctantly kept it clean shaven. he and thorne were definitely beard buddies after the war though.
THORNE AND WOLF ARE BROTHERS OK. wolf is like the older male figure that thorne looked up to, and thorne is wolf’s chance at another younger brother. their contrast between abused lunar soldier and rich, sheltered american really seals the deal for a bomb dynamic. and wolf would totally redefine the idea of masculinity for thorne, really make him get rid of all that toxic shit. he also calls thorne carswell to piss them off. no this is not a carswolf post but could be.
scarlet was either bra-less or only wearing a bra on the rampion. not in a sexual way but in a farm girl way.

King
The darkness made him who he is today. Able to see without a light, not afraid of anything, and grateful for what he has.
~|~
Rampion Bellflower - Also called the Creeping Bellflower or the Repunzel, it has the meanings of Unwavering Love or... Love in Vain Sundew - A carnivorous family of over 194 species, the only meaning found was that of Surprise, as its beauty is a trick to draw in unsuspecting prey
~|~
"Come now, brother," Dream pleaded, following the other deeper into the wood in their battle. "Let go of the evil inside you and come back to me―"
"Evil? Me?" Nightmare scoffed, grabbing Dream's ankle before picking him up and slamming him into a tree. "That's not a word strong enough to describe me," he hissed, causing Dream's eye to widen. He opened his mouth to object, but Nightmare cut him off. "But don't you dare forget when you look at me with those eyes that you were the one who filled this once beating heart with lies."
This is a piece inspired by our Nightmare Drosera and his backstory in To Cure A Glitch's Blues on AO3.
Hi! The quote said by Nightmare is by S.S.W. if you're curious. Yeah, we know we've been gone, but we had mental health stuff and we are back! Might be a little late for Nightmarch, but we can still post things for our story as we work on fleshing out characters before continuing.
This is our official Nightmare design for our fic, To Cure A Glitch's Blues―yes, we know the tag isn't quite right, same thing―in which Nightmare is not a skeleton or a spirit, but an Anthousai with the half power of his Hamadryad mother Nim. An Anthousai is a flower fae, not dissimilar to the Hamadryad in mythology in which a spirit would be born of a tree and live as long as the tree remained or its seeds did.
That brings up the question―what species is Drosera? Well, he is, of course, a Drosera or Sundew, a beautiful carnivorous plant that looks to be covered in glistening dew, thus the name. The second is the Rampion Bellflower or Creeping Bellflower, which is the inspiration behind the Tangled flower because of its name the Repunzel. We love the movie and the franchise, so we thought it'd be fun.
This particular plant is a deep brown/black stem with bioluminescent cyan blooms. Many of the original Drosera doesn't need pollinating, but we have something fun planned so the Bellflowers are the pollinating blooms and the Sundew are the carnivorous ones. You can see the curled-up Sundews on the end of his tentacles/vines, which can open if he needs them. Yes, Nightmare is carnivorous, and no, he doesn't have a monster soul, but a mangosteen-esque fruit at the center of his being that he protects with his very being. We call the species Drosera Lunaris, or the Lunarbloom.
Oh, and those aren't his bones.
Toodles! Hope to see you on AO3 soon!

So like someone said one the discord about me being like a child and the iaptbap boys becoming like a adopted brother and it seem like a pretty cool au what are some headcannons you can think of?
NOOO THIS IS SO CUTE, all the platonic fluff you could make with this au <333 also, someone please send me a link to the discord, i searched everywhere but couldn't find it, maybe i need glasses 😭😭😭😭
anyways, onto the headcannons!
Tumblr media
Winter White would be at first pretty reluctant to take care of a young mc. if i remember well, violet said in the QnA that winter didn't like children very much— that, or he didn't want to have kids with mc, so i'm just gonna assume that he just doesn't like children lol.
quickly though, you'd grow on him, and he'll start to get very protective of you, kind of like a big brother. he'd bring you to theme parks (modern au okay-), would buy you ice-cream, and would just be a very cool cool big brother. there would be many slip-ups, such as him sometimes letting you do things that children are NOT supposed to do. like, watching a horror movie or carrying a knife around. i rate winter white a 7/10
Tumblr media
Beau would be a great adoptive big brother! he'd read you bedtime stories, spend a lot of time with you, and educate you on many topics. with him, you'll become a nerd kid. /lh
if you don't know how to read already, beau would love to teach you how to read! :]
he'd turn the boring school lessons into more interesting stuff, if you want to. and if you're struggling with homework, rest assured, he'll help you asap on it.
okay, sometimes he can be a bit boring... not every kid wants to learn algebra every day. but he's trying his best to be a good big brother to you, and that includes making you a smart kid!
9/10 for beau!
Tumblr media
Tyrian would be an excellent big brother. he's kind of a mix of beau and winter (teaching you stuff and letting you have fun at parks) but he'll also cook you the best meals ever! tyrian would spend most, if not all of his time taking care of you, making sure you're happy and healthy. he'd take you around new-orleans, making you visit the city until you know where every street leads, where the best restaurants are, etc.
not only that, charlie would often come and help tyrian into dressing you up like a pretty little princess! you'd always have the most classy, cute and colorful clothes!
an absolute 10/10 for tyrian. amazing, spectacular.
Tumblr media
okay, when im saying that he's trying his best, i mean that Rampion has absolutely no idea of how to care for a kid, but he's still trying.
mc wants to eat a tide pod. rampion doesn't know if he should let her eat the tide pod. ten minutes later they're at the hospital.
rampion would also read you the quite traumatizing books his father read him when he was a child himself— but would quickly stop when you start crying because damn that's terrifying.
ok, so rampion doesn't know how to look for a kid. however, i believe he'd be great at styling your hair! everyday, you'd have a different but still amazing-looking hairstyle. thanks, ramps!
overall, rampion is a 6/10. please do not let him look for your siblings or kids.
Tumblr media
Sen also has no idea of how to care for a child! he'll try to teach you his knowledge of the forest, such as hunting, talking to animals, etc, but you, being a seven year old kid, are absolutely terrified of the giant wolves and boars.
speaking od hunting, the moment he lets you in front of a tiny animal with the instruction to kill it, you start to cry and refuse to do it. he doesn't understand why and that angers him so he might accidentally yell at you, making you cry even more.
however, i guess sen would eventually come around and understand that kids like you aren't meant for hunting live animals and eating raw meat. so, reluctantly, he'll get you your own food (he would've preferred it if you were the one to get it) and would cook it for you.
also, your hygiene is at risk with sen. my man never washes and smells like the foulest rotten food, so if you stay with him, you won't stay clean for too long.
3/10 for the wild wolf dude.
Tumblr media
hope you liked these headcanons! it was so fun to write them, maybe i'll do a part two? who knows hehe...

"Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair!"
"Rapunzel" is one of well known famous stories by the Brothers Grimm tale No. 12 but also features it's very first digital animated film Tangled in 2010 by Walt Disney Company as well as a spin off series too up to 3 Seasons and featured in the Musical "Into the Woods";
The tale is about a young woman whose name is after a special vegetable called a "Rampion" by her parents but was taken away by a witch named Mother Gothel as payment after she caught her Father stealing one of her rampions and had her locked in a tall tower when she reaches the end of her childhood. As the years past with her so long and fine Yellow as Summer's corn but her life will soon change when she set eyes and fell in love on a dashing stranger who climbed up the tower after he overheard her singing.
Note: This story is never prefect without Good ol' Raps herself to feature the main character on the sketch and the dashing stranger that's totally Eugene, Plus I even added the Sundrop as her rampion.

marissameyerauthor: 'Tis the end of Cress Week and I wanted to share one of my personal favorite Cresswell moments after seeing so many of you sharing yours! Personally, my favorite Cresswell moment doesn't happen in the core books, but in the graphic novels. I really loved writing their relationship after things had a chance to settle and "normalize" - and writing this sweet little moment in Wires & Nerve was sort of my chance to show what "happily ever after" was going to look like for them. Common cold symptoms aside ... happily ever after doesn't look too shabby! #TeamCress #lunareverafter

give me the most random tlc hc's you have about the crew during the revolution
oh yes please!
number one, wolflet DID NOT HAVE SEX ON THE RAMPION VIOLETA I SWEAR TO GOD I WILL FIGHT YOU TO THE DEATH ON THIS
wolf sang to himself and hummed while making coffee
jacin was purposely luxurious in using the rampion’s supplies. maybe because it had been a while before he could be mean to his peers without punishment, so he took this chance to mess with cinder. because he’s a little bitch.
iko and cress were very close. their friendship started when iko cut her hair and cress confessed to iko about her feelings for thorne. i have no idea if iko’s mental age is fourteen or forty five, but i think it’d be a fun experience for her to just be a girl and have fun. and cress totally did weird technology programming stuff to her. sounds creepy but. oh well.
kaider had unsatisfactory sex for the first time on the rampion and felt a little embarrassed about it for a while, but they eventually powered through it and kept their relationship strong.
wolf wanted to grow a beard, like a huge one, but felt that it would only bring attention to the fact that he’s TWENTY THREE YEARS OLD, so reluctantly kept it clean shaven. he and thorne were definitely beard buddies after the war though.
THORNE AND WOLF ARE BROTHERS OK. wolf is like the older male figure that thorne looked up to, and thorne is wolf’s chance at another younger brother. their contrast between abused lunar soldier and rich, sheltered american really seals the deal for a bomb dynamic. and wolf would totally redefine the idea of masculinity for thorne, really make him get rid of all that toxic shit. he also calls thorne carswell to piss them off. no this is not a carswolf post but could be.
scarlet was either bra-less or only wearing a bra on the rampion. not in a sexual way but in a farm girl way.

it would be so cool if the tlc adaptation kept the characters’ accents!! chinese for cinder, iko, and kai, french for scarlet, american for thorne, maybe create something new for lunars? let the voice actors have fun!

I'm reading the Lunar Chronicles again, as one does when in desperate need of a sassy cyborg and her crew of girls who get stuff done.

'I would go with you this very night,' she said. 'But how will I get down? No; here is what we will do; every time you come, bring a skein of silk, until I have woven myself a ladder.'
Rampion from 'Sweet Rampion,' a fairytale by the Brothers Grimm that is often known as 'Rapunzel'
Some people sing because they want to feel closer to the birds. Those lucky angels! Their wings brush from the palm to the fingertips of the azure sky; the wind catches them under; the Sun waves them by. Each kiss of the sunset and stroke of the breeze is new; whilst to some, the world is a narrow tower, and they know too intimately the deceptive cracks and crumbles in the bricks. But every song of such a person is an anthem; a promise; a plan; a call. Those birds-in-spirit are not meant for doors at all.
for the anon who loves music and instruments and can't wait to explore the world ♡
send me a 📚 if you want a poem written for a character from folklore, mythology or classic literature that your blog reminds me of!

Rapunzel Intothewoods is trans. Evidence:
“I had a brother?” / “No, but you had a sister.”
Her name is Rapunzel, which means lettuce. Since in this version, the witch is obsessed with beans instead of her rampion, this doesn’t make much sense, unless Rapunzel named herself.
That soprano? That’s some hardcore femme vocal training.
I know she get pregnant but like. there’s magic at play here, suspend your disbelief.
