The Game (just started)

Elowen POV

I've always prided myself on being a keen observer, a skill honed by years as a bard. I watch people closely, dissect their expressions, and delve beneath the surface to understand their true intentions. It's a talent that serves me well in my performances, and it's made me acutely perceptive to the nuances of those around me.

When I first encountered Astarion, I knew he was charming.

It was impossible not to notice his playful banter and the twinkle in his eye. We engaged in verbal sparring, exchanging witty remarks and humorous jabs. It was fun, a diversion from the grim reality of our situation.

But then, like a sudden storm on a clear day, it hit me – Astarion's charm wasn't just harmless banter. It was a weapon, and I was his intended target.

The realization stung, and for a moment, I felt a pang of offense.

I had allowed myself to be drawn into his web, thinking that there might be something genuine beneath his roguish exterior. But now, I saw through it all – the compliments, the flattery, the theatricality – none of it was sincere. He had an agenda, something beyond our shared goal of ridding ourselves of the insidious tadpoles. He wanted to use me, to manipulate me.

The bitterness of that realization hung in the air, but I was no stranger to games of wit and manipulation. As a bard, I had spent years mastering the art of words and actions to my advantage. If Astarion wanted to play this game, then I would play it with him.

I was determined to turn the tables.

If he thought he could use me, I would use him as a distraction, a pawn in my own plans.

He would soon discover that targeting me had consequences, for I was well-versed in the subtle dance of manipulation.

Little did I know that our verbal sparring would evolve into something far more complex, altering the trajectory of our journey and our lives in ways we couldn't have foreseen.

I wrote a silly little thing today. It's based on something I saw on Facebook.

I didn't think it'd be that long honestly, but Sam and Dean wanted to argue more than what I previously planned so...

Anyway, go read The game is on if you want to- I don't know, slap Dean upside the head or laugh at Sam's incredulity.

If Sam still doubted his brother's devotion to him... Now he doesn't anymore. He still thinks that Dean goes too far sometimes but hey, it's not like he doesn't enjoy it.

It wasn't the first time a barrel had been pointed and her. And the thief doubted it would be the last. At this point it was more like a greeting. Or if she wanted to be grandiose, a heralding of a thief's grand appearance.

To the step, Bijou made no move back nor forward. Instead she gave an amused titter, "Oh, mon chevalier, have you no sense of mystique? It would be awfully dull if the game was up so quickly."

She raised her hand as if to surrender. However, as she raised, two knives darted forward. One went in line with the barrel. The other missed him entirely, instead going for light switch. Even if it were dark for a few moments, moments were what she lived by.

My solution for bloatware is this: by law you should hire in every programming team someone who is Like, A Guy who has a crappy laptop with 4GB and an integrated graphics card, no scratch that, 2 GB of RAM, and a rural internet connection. And every time someone in your team proposes to add shit like NPCs with visible pores or ray tracing or all the bloatware that Windows, Adobe, etc. are doing now, they have to come back and try your project in the Guy's laptop and answer to him. He is allowed to insult you and humilliate you if it doesn't work in his laptop, and you should by law apologize and optimize it for him. If you try to put any kind of DRM or permanent internet connection, he is legally allowed to shoot you.

With about 5 or 10 years of that, we will fix the world.
