Money or Happiness?

I’m going to be a bastard whether I’m happy or not, so I might as well be a rich bastard right? Plus, the only thing really making me unhappy is my money situation rn sooo…

And Ig I could buy a therapist with the money?

But it also kind of depends on the context of the question

Like, is it that I’m rich but the reason I’m unhappy is because my entire family is dead and the entire world hates me… then I’d chose to be happy instead

Or, I’m physically incapable of feeling happiness, then the therapist plan probably won’t work. Might still chose money for that context tho

If I’m already happy, would choosing money get rid of that?

If I’m already rich, would choosing happiness get rid of that?

Would anything be gotten rid of?

Is it just ‘gain money’ or ‘gain happiness’? ‘Cause if that’s the context, the answer if pretty obvious.

Or is the question like, ‘born happy but poor’ or ‘born rich but unhappy’?

Maybe choosing money gets rid of everything that makes me happy and choosing happiness gets rid of my money? That would be a hard choice. I’d choose money to buy the things that make me happy, but if they’re gone… then there would be no point. But I feel like that’s a bit unfair, and kind of pushing people to the happiness side, since I could still make money.

Or—for that context—I can no longer make money after choosing happiness, and would spend the rest of my life poor? Then I’d rather choose neither tbh

Also, how much money? Could I even say that I’d be rich after?

My friend also made a pretty good point. Is it that picking happiness would give me the things that make me happy? But, in that context, the answer would also be too easy, and every situation would lean towards choosing happiness. Like, money makes me happy, so would I get money? Books also make me happy, so maybe I’d just get books, but buying books is really the only reason I want money, so there’s no point in choosing money either way

Anyways, when I hear this question, I usually assume that you lose one or the other, because just gaining is really too easy to choose. I’m not unhappy right now, so why would I choose to gain happiness? Losing one would make the choice much more difficult

This is probably just a question of values, though, so, money.

Lieutenant Hank Anderson, Detroit Become Human

Okay, y'all know me and my Mass Effect: Andromeda obsession. I just mentioned how I couldn't help but love Alec Ryder in part because he's voiced by Clancy Brown who is also the voice and character model for Hank. *points up* 😎👍

I watched a playthrough of DBH pre-Halo because I didn't expect to ever get the chance to play it. However, looking up the Alec Ryder stuff for my post the other day brought DBH back to mind and I decided to pop it onto my Steam wishlist, just in case. NOT THAT I'M BUYING ANYMORE GAMES RIGHT NOW, OF COURSE. 😇😉

I've always been super intrigued by DBH and it's many, many endings and outcomes but I also have to take into consideration that, as silly as it might sound, that can trigger my anxiety about making "wrong" choices. I wasn't sure about Andromeda initially because of that and I've put off playing the original Mass Effect trilogy for the same reason. But, I thought, the thing I have to remember is that you can always go back and replay the game and make different choices and all that.

So if I ever do get DBH and make wrong choices that gets characters killed (very, very possible) or end up with outcomes I don't like (also very, very possible), then just replay and fix everything right?

And then I remembered Chloe.

We'll throw a spoiler break here even though the game is from 2018. So, fair warning for SPOILERS beneath the cut.

Chloe is your android host who has been with you since the start of the game. She makes comments on your choices, says things that are surprisingly personal (I know I'll definitely get this one, lol) or unexpectedly touching (I would've probably burst out crying if I didn't know about this one and just got it randomly) or might be pertinent to the date you're playing (I've seen one referencing that it's the 4th of July, one about Christmas, etc.). Once you reach the end of a game that has been full of choices and consequences, you get one more:

Jump to 4:52 for the reaction to yes, if you don't want to watch everything in between. 😉

And yes, this choice is permanent. If you free Chloe, she will not be back ever again through any playthrough. However, if you tell her no, then she'll erase her memory and, though she'll still be there in the menu, she'll never again offer any personal comments. Either way, you get the one playthrough with her having her initial personality, that's it.

Apparently, people were so distraught by this being a choice that can't be undone in subsequent games, (if this would've hit me blind, I would've been horrified by whatever I'd picked because I would've expected a new game to reset everything) that they created a patch where you'll get offered a "new" Chloe. However, if you accept, my understanding is that you'll basically get the impersonal Chloe from the "no" choice.

Now, my anxiety aside, I have to say that this is kinda brilliant considering that DBH is all about whether or not you believe androids should be free as autonomous beings or if they're merely "soulless" robots made to serve a purpose and that's all. Your choice for Chloe at the end will sum up how you played the game and you can't take it back. If you free her, "your" Chloe is gone. If you keep her, you get a soulless, impersonal machine that looks like your Chloe but who isn't.

Considering my absolute love for Cortana from Halo, it's no surprise that I would take this choice very personally. I honestly don't want to let her go but, if I ever do get the game and play it, then I'll definitely choose yes to freeing her. She looks and sounds so sad if you say no, I couldn't stand that. Yeah, I take my fictional people SERIOUSLY, y'all! 😑😉

Anyway, what would you choose? And if you've already played, what choice did you make?

Naturally, I also think Cortana and Chloe would be friends.

In order to save the princess you have to disguise yourself as a teen and go to the Prom. But you aren’t getting in without a date who actually goes to the school. You approach a group of students. Another member of your party assigns them numbers 1-20 and puts the numbers in a hat. The number you draw is the one you must ask to prom.

Roll a d20 to see who you ask

1. Jimbob the Teifling. He just got his driver’s license!

2. Betty the bard with a bucket hat

3. JT. They’re dad is the owner of the local super market

4. Carlos the Orc Druid. He’s new in town

5. Duchess Vanessa. She’s the princess’s cousin and is super jealous of her

6. Gooobydoob 6’5” tall human raised by kobolds. Can speak 6 languages

7. Enoby D’arkness Dementa Raven Way. She’s goffic

8. Apples the talking horse. She’s the class valedictorian and her dad is in jail for arson.

9. Chris. He’s flattered but politely declines because he’s already going with Tiffany. Roll again.

10. Tiffany. She already said yes to Chris but doesn’t tell you that because she would rather go with you because she was only going with Chris to make Carlos jealous, and she thinks you would make him more jealous. Meanwhile Carlos is completely oblivious to the fact that Tiffany has a crush on him. Which is probably for the best. Carlos has a crush on Ursula, but is too shy to admit it.

11. Ursula, the bug bear with great hair

12. Mike and Ezekiel, they are already going together but are open to a 3rd. (They only have one number because your friend didn’t see Ezekiel. He is wearing a very effective camouflage jump suit)

13. Marsha. She’s actually best friends with the princess and would be invaluable for your mission. The only problem, her parents are super strict and have forbid her from going to the dance. She accepts your invitation on the condition that you can break her out of the house and provide a prom dress. (All her dresses are little house on the prairie style)

14. Jacque the elvin jock. He’s the quarter back of the football team and his dad is the cop that put Apples’ dad in jail for arson.

15. Bryce. He gave everyone lice. In fact he did so twice. What an unfortunate roll of the dice.

16. Lord flip flop. King of the waves.

17. Rocko. Sells drugs to all the teachers.

18. Hyacinth. Shortest of her 11 siblings at only 10’9”, this giant barbarian is a (not so) huge disappointment to her family. She was also an unknowing accomplice in the arson that landed Apples’ dad in jail.

19. Beck. They were going to skip the prom to instead do a pop up art show featuring their art series entitled “lawfulness by definition is never neutral. a retrospective of systemic genocide of halflings and kobolds by creating strategic laws that codified pitting the two races against each other by the corrupt government of king Victor-Justin XI from the years 76899 to 76904 inclusive” the art itself consists of discarded wooden bowls from Red Oak Tavern, all painted with concentric circles in neon orange. But Beck likes your aura enough to go to the prom with you and re schedule the art show for next weekend.

20. Lucy. Her mom is the janitor. She stole a key ring with all the keys to all the rooms in the school ages ago. Her mom still has no idea. She’ll let you into any room in the school for a stick of gum. Or even for free if she thinks it’s funny enough. She just likes chaos.

finally got some time to finish these guys up! which is sort of ironic considering I started these because I wanted to draw Malleus with a Dragapult, and then I just didn't for a million years!

Malleus has the aforementioned Dragapult, except it's a super special non-canon color Dragapult (like an anime-only form that you could get in-game exclusively through some limited-time event where you have to show up in-person at a specific location in Japan) (it has some wacky overpowered exclusive move/form and the OT is listed as Malleus) (so like that kind of ridiculous specialness) (Leona is extremely salty about this). also hoards and hoards of Dreepy. Dreepy LOVE Malleus. they take naps on his horns inbetween begging him to throw them across the island at mach speeds.

Lilia has a Drampa and a bunch of Woobat that he hasn't actually caught, they just follow him around in swarms because they sense a kinship with him. (also breaking my own rule again to say that he had a Mawile in the past, because...I just really wanted to give him a Mawile...)

Sebek has Sandile for obvious reasons, and also a Pikachu that bullies him relentlessly. :(

Silver has a shiny Corvisquire; I really went back-and-forth on also giving him an Aegislash, but...hm. those pokedex entries though. he can stick with just one for now.

(I hadn't planned on the shiny for him, but after I'd decided on the Corvisquire line and was looking it up for reference, I realized that shiny Rookidee is gold and then turns silver when it evolves and I lost my entire goddamn mind)
