not sure what should happen next in your story?

Embarrass your protagonist. Make them seem weak and vulnerable in some way.

Shoot someone. That always takes the reader by surprise. 

In relation, kidnap someone. Or, rather, make it seem to your protagonist like someone has been kidnapped. 

Have one of your side characters disappear or become unavailable for some reason. This will frustrate your protagonist.

Have someone kiss the wrong girl, boy, or person, especially if you’ve been setting up a romance angle. It’s annoying.

If this story involves parents, have them argue. Push the threat of divorce, even if you know it won’t ever happen. It’ll make your readers nervous.

Have someone frame your protagonist for a crime they didn’t commit. This could range from a dispute to a minor crime to a full-blown felony.

If this is a fantasy story involving magic or witchcraft, create a terrible accident that’s a direct result of their spell-casting. 

Injure your protagonist in some way, or push them into a treacherous scenario where they might not make it out alive. 

Have two side characters who are both close to the protagonist get into a literal fist-fight. This creates tension for the reader, especially if these characters are well-developed, because they won’t know who to root for.

Make your protagonist get lost somewhere (at night in the middle of town, in the woods, in someone else’s house, etc.) 

Involve a murder. It can be as in-depth and as important as you want it to be. 

Introduce a new character that seems to prey on your protagonist’s flaws and bring them out to light.

If it’s in-character, have one of your characters get drunk or take drugs. Show the fallout of that decision through your protagonist. 

Spread a rumor about your protagonist. 

If your protagonist is in high-school, create drama in the school atmosphere. A death of a student, even if your protagonist didn’t know them personally, changes the vibe. 

If your story involves children, have one of them do something dangerous (touch a hot stove, run out into the road, etc.) and show how the protagonist responds to this, even if the child isn’t related to them. 

In a fantasy story, toss out the idea of a rebellion or war between clans or villages (or whatever units you are working with). 

Add a scenario where your protagonist has to make a choice. We all have watched movies where we have screamed don’t go in there! at the top of our lungs at the main character. Make them go in there. 

Have your protagonist find something, even if they don’t understand the importance of it yet. A key, a document, an old stuffed animal, etc. 

Foreshadow later events in some way. (Need help? Ask me!)

Have your protagonist get involved in some sort of verbal altercation with someone else, even if they weren’t the one who started it. 

Let your protagonist get sick. No, but really, this happens in real life all the time and it’s rarely ever talked about in literature, unless it’s at its extremes. It could range from a common cold to pneumonia. Maybe they end up in the hospital because of it. Maybe they are unable to do that one thing (whatever that may be) because of it.

Have someone unexpected knock on your protagonist’s door. 

Introduce a character that takes immediate interest in your protagonist’s past, which might trigger a flashback.

Have your protagonist try to hide something from someone else and fail.

Formulate some sort of argument or dispute between your protagonist and their love interest to push them apart. 

Have your protagonist lose something of great value in their house and show their struggle to find it. This will frustrate the reader just as much as the protagonist.

Create a situation where your protagonist needs to sneak out in the middle of the night for some reason.

Prevent your character from getting home or to an important destination in some way (a car accident, a bad storm, flat tire, running out of gas, etc.)

- If you are just sad, or feel down, expect to be pampered

-You are getting showered with affection

-He’ll hug the sad out of you(as long as you’re okay with that)

-If you’re having a panic attack

-The first time he would probably be really confused

-Maybe you got overwhelmed by a big crowd or something?

- He wouldn’t get it at first since he’s such a social butterfly

-BUT he's really quick to learn!

-He’ll take you somewhere secluded, and walk you through breathing exercises

-If you want a hug he’ll wrap you up in a hug and rock you back and forth slightly to help calm you down

Dreams: How do they picture their future with their s/o?

-He definitely wants to marry you!

-Not for status or anything

-But because he loves you!

-He would love to have or adopt kids

-But if you didn’t want to, then he might be a bit disappointed at first, but be more than alright with it!

-If you did, he would want to raise them with much more kindness than his father showed him

-And make them feel loved

-All with the help of you!

Kiss: Are they a good kisser? What was the first kiss like?

-He’s a bit bashful with his first kiss, since he’s not super experienced

-It wasn’t bad, per say, but definitely a little awkward

-Flustered ferdie baby

-After the first few times, he does get better however

-He likes to kiss you on the forehead or knuckles, but likes kissing you just in general

-He melts if you kiss the nape of his neck

-He doesn’t often do it in public, as he has a reputation to upkeep

-But he will sometimes kiss your knuckles in public

Ashe

Comfort: How would they help their s/o when they feel down/have a panic attack etc.?

-Ashe tries his best to be aware of your feelings

-And he’s usually pretty good at it!

-If you’re feeling down, he’ll try not to be too overbearing

-But will still totally help you out!

-He’ll cook some of your favorite food 

-Or if you just want hugs then he’ll cuddle you, and maybe read one of his books to you!

-If you’re having a panic attack, there’s a chance he’ll notice before it gets really bad

-He’ll take you somewhere secluded and talk to you until you feel better

-If he doesn’t notice before it gets bad, he’ll still take you to a secluded place

-If you’re comfortable being hugged/want a hug, he’ll hug you, and tell you that you’re alright, and just in general be amazing at it

-Inside he’s a nervous mess because he’s worried about you, but even so, he does a great job at calming you down!

Dreams: How do they picture their future with their s/o?

-Ashe would love to open up a restaurant or something like that with his s/o!

-If they enjoyed cooking like he does, then even more so.

-He would like to have/adopt children, but if his s/o doesn’t want any, he’s fine with it as well!

-His first kiss he was an absolute blushing mess

-It was a really shy kiss, just a peck on the lips, but there was a lot of love behind it

Where they get married

-I feel Felix and Sylvain would like to get married somewhere that doesn’t have a crowd

-Or anything like that

-Though it was mainly Felix’s idea

-Sylvain really likes it too

-They would get married in an apple orchard, if they could.

When they get married

-They would get married in Autumn

-Not too hot, not too cold

-AND going off the apple orchard

-Apples

-That’s it

-That’s the main reason

What traditions they include

-They include some of them, but not all

-Ashe gets looped into being the flower girl

-They have a nice wedding cake that isn’t too sweet

-They do ‘tie the knot’ during the ceremony

-Sylvain went for poetry, and Felix was planning on doing the same

-But Felix pulls a blank, and instead improvises

-Annette and Merdeses are, because they were the ones baking the cake, and the first time they tried to bring it over, Annette accidentally tripped and dropped it…

Who’s in the bridal party/groomsmen/other

-The rest of the blue lions!

-Felix didn’t even pick a fight with Dimitri or Dedue

-Which is really surprising actually

What the bridal party/groomsmen/other are wearing

-They wear pretty much any navy blue outfit they had

-They got told to *not* go out and buy something for the wedding, so it’s a bit mismatched

Who gives speeches/ what are they?

-Ingrid!!

-She tells of all the shit they do, but also some sweet stories!

Who catches the bouquet? 

-Honestly, Annette’s probably one of the only ones who would try to catch it, though there’s a chance it’s going to land in someone’s face and they catch it to try to stop it from doing that

-there’s a 50/50 chance that someone is Ashe or Dimitri

-Which results in screaming and laughing either way

What are their wedding photo’s like?

-They are a mix of nice and sweet, like holding hands under an apple tree, and utter chaos

-You know how hard it is to take a photo of a cat?

-Felix is like that in some of them

What sort of food do they have at the reception?

-Not a whole lot of sweets, although there are some treats

-Mostly spicy or savory dishes

-If rodrigue is alive , rodrigue

-Felix just glares at him

-pretty simple

-put also get the point across of “hey I’m married don’t fuck with me”

-they also have some mini wine or champagne bottles

-but felix is more happy about the swords

-somewhere peaceful in either gautier or fraldarius territory

-though they might want to go further, maybe to alliance territory

-Margrave Gautier points out Sylvain can’t reproduce with a man

-of course that angered everyone

-and Mercedes cusses him out

-Seteth!

-Flayn’s there as well, and is quite happy for the couple

-An old Fodlandish folk song that they used to like to dance to as kids

Frantic with Friends

//I deadass wrote this for my historical narrative in English class since it had to be set in 2020. Deadass. 1.5k modern au beagles fanfic for English. I have no regrets though kfghdrg//

A gentle breeze pressed against the window, and a tree rustled against the wall. A beam of sunlight pours through the window, open ever so slightly. Illuminating the room, it lands on the face of a woman, her snow colored hair spread out across her pillows.

 A groan escapes her lips, as she slowly opens her eyes. Turning onto her back, she sighs, and sits up in her bed, unwrapping herself from her cocoon of a blanket. Throwing her legs off the bed, onto the floor, she rises, earning a creak from the wooden frame of the bed. Smoothing down her long nightgown, she opens the door of her room, and walks down the hall to the kitchen. 

In the kitchen, a tall, raven haired man stood over the stove, a spatula in hand. In the frying pan on the stove, a pancake could be seen, though not finished yet. On the counter was a pile of tan, fluffy pancakes.

On the couch was a blue haired young man, still in pajamas, a gaming headset on. He was shouting obscenities at the television, a controller in his hand. Sitting next to him on the couch was a tall, slender man with green locks, tied in a loose bun, falling all over his face. His nose is pressed in a book. At the table was a ginger-haired man, drinking a cup of tea, and chatting with a shorter woman with maroon hair, a tattoo under her eye. Her long hair was tied in a high ponytail.

Also at the table was a woman with long, brown hair, as well as a meek girl with purple hair, quietly sewing and humming to herself. There’s a small sizzle as Hubert, the raven haired man, moved the pancake onto the plate with the rest. He turns to the snow-haired woman and smiles. “Ah. Good morning Miss Edelgard.”

Edelgard smiles back, and shakes her head, “Hubert, I’ve told you before; you don’t have to use formalities.” “My apologies, Miss.... I mean, Edelgard.” Hubert sighs turning off the stove.

“Hubie, you’re so uptight!” Dorothea laughed, her brown hair bouncing up and down a bit. A small giggle emitted from Bernadetta’s mouth as she brushed her purple hair out of her eyes.

“Don’t you agree Bernie? Hubie really needs to learn to relax!”

“I- w-well, maybe?” Bernedetta stumbled across her words, before looking back at her sewing. 

“I agree with that.” Ferdinand took a sip of his tea, and continued his statement, “Hubert is always working! As much as I admire a strong work ethic, too much and he will work himself to the bone.” 

Dorothea sighed, glancing over at Ferdinand, “That’s...correct.” Edelgard couldn’t help but chuckle at the small bickering. Hubert scoffed, before getting some plates from the cupboard and placing them on the table counter.“... Anyways, how do you all want your pancakes?” Hubert looked at the others, who perked up upon the mention of breakfast.

 Caspar put down his controller, and Linhardt looked up from his book. They all soon asked for their pancake preference, and ate breakfast. Hubert took a sip of his coffee and smiled to himself. After all the pancakes were eaten, and all the plates were washed, Petra spoke up, brushing her long, maroon ponytail to the side. “You guys are remembering...you guys remember that the quarantine is supposed to end today, yes?”

Linhardt yawned, smiling a bit, “Hey, that was pretty good English that time.”

“Thank you,” Petra smiles, “English is...hard.”

Caspar looks up, grinning, “No way! It’s finally over? I thought that whole ‘rona thing was gonna last forever.” He groaned as he mentioned the virus.

“Now, surely it didn’t just go away, right Petra?” Edelgard tilted her head slightly to the side, looking at the girl.

“It would appear not. They are saying we should still wear masks, but that we can be going outside.” She nods at Edelgard as she speaks, “Perhaps we can go out and do something?”

Edelgard smiles and nods, “That sounds quite lovely.”

Bernadetta peers from around the fabric of her needlework, “A-are you guys sure? I- well it’s still there, and it’s nice staying at home.”

“Although I must admit that staying inside is quite nice, perhaps we should go somewhere, just for a while,” Linhardt spoke as he placed a torn piece of blank paper in the crevice of the book, closing it and placing it next to him on the couch. A few murmurs of agreement could be heard, as well as the nodding of heads being seen. 

Soon after, everyone was dressed, each with a mask on the ready. “Does everyone have their masks?” Edelgard looked around, and nodded as she saw that everyone had a mask. Everyone crammed into the van, Hubert sits in the driver’s seat, starting the engine.

“Where are we going, again?” Hubert turned to look at the others, tilting his head ever so slightly. Ferdinand took out his phone, typing into Google Maps, before handing it to Hubert. 

“The amusement park!” He grins as he says it. 

“Th-the amusement park? Won’t it be crowded?” Bernadetta furrowed her brow, sliding a bit deeper into her chair.

“Nonsense! I am quite certain that it will not be crowded. The virus is probably keeping people at bay!” Ferdinand shook his head, quite confident in his statement.

“Well, you never know,” Linhardt sighed, before putting in an earbud, listening to music. Hubert started the car, and they were soon on the road to the amusement park.

The car ride was full of jokes, and Dorothea sang every song that came on the radio. It was a good thing she had a good voice, being in the local choir. If she had not, it would have been extremely obnoxious. Caspar kept talking to Linhardt, who simply kept nodding and shaking his head, not listening to what he was saying. Bernadetta had brought her sewing project, and was quietly sewing while humming along to the radio. Ferdinand chatted with Petra, Edelgard, and Hubert, though he was mainly the one doing the talking.

 After around 45 minutes of this, they pulled up to the amusement park, but as they went to pay for parking, they noticed that the booth was closed. On it was a note that read ‘Closed due to COVID-19’. Everyone was silent for a moment, before Caspar spoke up.

“Are you KIDDING me? Damn it, Ferdinand!” “Hey! I did not know that it was going to be closed!” Ferdinand retorted, glaring over at Caspar.

“Wow. What a let down,” Dorothea sighed, turning off the radio.

“Do not go blaming me!”

“Well who else am I supposed to blame? The sky?”

Soon the car was full of ruckus. Edelgard pressed her temples, sighing.

“Everybody, please stop.”

The chaos continued, before Edelgard raised her voice.

“Stop! You all are acting like children!”

This got their attention, though many were still glaring at each other, before Petra, who had not been arguing, spoke up.

“Please do not...fight,” Petra concentrated, trying to find the right words, “It was a mistake, I am certain quite.... I mean quite certain, that Ferdinand did not mean to.”

Ferdinand nodded, “Thank you Petra! You see-” he was cut off short by Petra

“You are still participating in the fighting though. I am not happy with that.”

Ferdinand frowned, furrowing his brow, before slowly nodding, “I… understand that. Thank you, however.”

After a while, everyone had calmed down, and apologized to one another. 

“Well, I for one say we should at least do something while we’re out and about! We don’t want this whole trip to be a bust, right?” Dorothea looked around to see if anyone else agreed with her. Bernadetta giggled, murmuring something. Hubert thought for a moment.

“Hmm.... what about McDonald’s?”

Bernadetta, Petra, and Caspar immediately perked up at the mention of it. Different variations of ‘yes’ rang out from in the van, and turning back onto the road, they set out for the nearest McDonald’s.

 It only took a few minutes to find one.Pulling into the drive through, Hubert turns to the others, taking their orders. 

“So, the happiness meal makes you happy? How do they know that?” Petra tilts her head, brushing her hair out of her face. “They don’t know that it will make you happy, but it’s supposed to, Petra,” Dorothea smiled, patting Petra’s head.

 “Oh! I see,” Petra smiles, and nods, “Then I will have a happy meal!” 

Bernadetta and Petra got their happy meals, and everyone else got something to eat. Eventually, they all returned home, heading inside, and throwing away their trash. Although the amusement park may have been a bust, McDonald’s always saves the day.

A morning or a night person

Hilda is a morning person! That said she will still be grumpy in the morning because she has to do work to get up in the morning.

A waffle or pancake person

Hilda I feel would prefer pancakes. Nice, fluffy pancakes. She likes the fluffiness of the pancakes more than the slight crunchiness of the waffles.

Coffee or tea person

Hilda’s more of a tea person, though if it was say, a modern AU, she would be your average Starbuck’s girl with her sweet, sweet frappuccinos and lattes.

Cake or ice cream person

Cake AND ice cream? If you get a slice of say, chocolate cake, and a scoop of vanilla ice cream, now that’s the good shit in Hilda’s book

-When it comes to romance, Dimitri’s pretty cliché. 

-Not because he wants to be,

-but merely because he has absolutely no clue what he’s doing. 

-Usually for gifts, it’s flowers, chocolate, daggers-

-When he gives them to you he gets rather flustered about it.

-It’s really cute to watch.

-Since Dimitri is to be king, people all over would know that you two were getting married
