POV: You’re trying not to punch your cousin for dragging you out of Casita. 

Based on the idea that Mirabel didn’t want to leave Casita much after her failed ceremony. It was Camilo who kept knocking on that nursery door and refusing to leave his cousin alone that allowed Mirabel to gain the courage to face Encanto again.

What’s the families relationship with Dolores in your Usurpers!AU? Do some hate her? Are some of them jealous?

In the Usupers!AU the Madrigals are a lot more supportive and tight knit with each other. In terms of Isabela, she did feel jealous when Dolores first became the golden child. However, Isabela realized that she was allowed to be a kid again and play in the gardens without having to worry if a hair was out of place or if her dress would be ruined.

Although Abuela isn't as distant from the family her high expectations still apply and none of the family wishes to be in the spotlight. If anything they feel sorry for Dolores and often try to ease her burden.

I'll share the ones that inspired my drawing!

Dolores is an insomniac while Isabela can fall asleep anywhere and through everything.

Isabela is a very loud snorer. When they were kids, focusing on Isabela's snoring was the only way Dolores could fall asleep after she received her gift. They would often have sleepovers and it wasn't uncommon for them to be found napping in random and often somewhat dangerous places.

Post-canon Isabela tries to make up for the distance that she put between her family. It takes everything in Dolores not to tear up every time Isabela just randomly gives her a hug or a gentle kiss.

Chapter 3

Dolores' magic is quiet but it’s everywhere all at once, echoing back to her repeatedly.

Camilo’s are in bursts, popping randomly in his body as he changes. It reminds her of fireworks and she can’t help but smile.

Luisa gently pats her back as she heads back to her seat.  Her magic flows through Mirabel. Resolute and unmoving, it's built like layered brick, a promise to keep her safe.

Antonio's magic is surprisingly tame, easily the calmest out of everyone. His magic spreads in the animals under and below him, forming their own paradise to a world that only he can enter.

Isabela’s magic is blooming within her, waiting on her beck and call, curling prettily around her.

Pepa’s magic is in knots, tangling and morphing on itself, a wildness to it. 

Julieta’s magic is light, and comforting, making Mirabel lean into it. It spreads from her fingertips, almost feathersoft in its weight.  

Something shifts inside him like sand flowing hesitantly, as if having to discover itself. It swirls, flowing from one side to the other, sparking faintly, almost forming something, before breaking off into pieces again.

It’s time to dive into Isabela, the other main character for the Usurpers!AU.

She’s ruthless, having trained intensely from a young age to hone her vines to be sharp, muscles to be strong, and plants to be deadly to protect Encanto from any and all threats. Isabela is the first to respond to any danger in the village. She often wrestles wild animals, and lookouts for any trespassers that may come through.  She is very protective of Dolores in particular, often acting as her bodyguard. The jewelry she adorns is for her cousin to be able to hear her from miles away. Isabela often comes home with various scars and rips in her dress from whatever or whoever she was fighting.

Candle!Mirabel from my Estrella!AU

She’s floating above the smoking candle room in her white and gold dress, the one she wore when everything fell apart.  Her eyes mimic the very flames of the sun, hair flowing upwards curving toward the sky. Butterfly veins that decorated the candle, swim down her arms and legs like molten lava ending at white-hot fingertips.

I always loved the parallels between the Light fury and Astrid, and I wish they had been explored just a little bit more. It’s quite ambitious and I want to gauge interest before I start diving into this idea again.
