That voice, so full of hope and horror, is shouting now, banging and scratching and tearing itself raw against the bars of his compartmentalization. Something is wrong, and it wants Nico to know — to notice.
Nico doesn’t care. His bones have calcified this quiet numbness, and his body saps strength from the hellscape of Tartarus, and his heart glitters red like a pomegranate’s shell. He survives.
At this rate, the voice will not.

teddy bear
I’m multitasking, so this is for @arcadeology (happy birthday!), @mlwritersguild‘s Februrary event, and @letsmagicalcooking‘s Valentine’s Event <3
“Nino, are you coming?” Marinette is sprawled out, fuzzy blanket tucked up to her chin and a bowl of popcorn balanced precariously on her lap. Dressed for their date in pyjamas and turtle socks, Marinette has seven movies queued and a veritable fort of blankets on the couch. Now all she needs is Nino wrapped around her.
It’s not his muscled arms that come to rest on her shoulders, though.
“Happy Valentine’s Day, my love!” Nino pitches his voice low,  speaking through the giant teddy bear.
That year, their Valentine’s date starts with spilled popcorn, a crammed couch, and laughter.

Everyone go check out Digit’s commissions because their art is so so good!!
Hello I was just wondering if your commissions are still opened. Also what is the limit of characters that we could have in the commission drawing?
Yes!! they are!
NORMALLY i dont do more than 4 a scene!! but for money i dont have a limit. its more a matter of like... how fast you want it done. More characters = more time. also more characters means more planning out to get the picture looking natural.

If you fill out our IC and ask me nicely, you can convince me to spill the tea on my Iapetus (Bob the Titan) story analysis and why he’s critical to the narrative arc of both Percy AND Nico! <3

Confête
@arcadeology is a bad influence ^-^
"Cupcake, focus! We've got to get Kaalki back."
Felix pranced restlessly across the bars of the Eiffel Tower. Even under the cover of dark night, he was impossible to miss in his restlessness. "It's all my fault. I can't believe my father got ahold of her! I should've been more careful. I'm sorry, Ladybug. I failed you."
"You haven't failed me at all, Confête!" Ladybug rushes to reassure him. "We knew it was a risk when I asked you to take the horse miraculous home, with your... father, and all..." The name hangs heavy in the air; after the revelations of the last week, Felix has hardly dared to breathe at home, terrified of his father turned terrorist more than he'd ever been before. Ladybug had offered him the horse miraculous as a ready means to escape, but Felix, in his infinite confidence that absentee Gabriel would never step foot in his room, left her behind as he spoke to Nathalie in the hall. By the time he returned, she was gone.
Only a few days later, half-drowned in water until Gabriel had broken her enough to capitalize on such exquisite fear, Kaalki had been akumatized into Kelkie and was newly terrorizing the city, jumping from portal to portal, emerging in a new unrecognizable shape with each new emergence.
Felix growled. "I should've been more careful. You know it's true."
"C'mon, cupcake, don't be so glum." Ladybug bumps her shoulder into his, nearly sending him sprawling over the edge of the tower; she grabs his fluffy tails and yanks him back up. She starts the familiar process of untangling her fingers from his curls. "We'll reign in our friend in no time! She won't be able to stirrup trouble for long."
Felix can't help himself: he laughs.
On cue, a roar of flame ignites across the city, followed by the flash of another portal. They've lost her again. Every whisper of joviality drops from their grin.
"Let's go, Ladybug." Then the worst happens: Felix feels his throat constrict, his tail and hair and sleeves puff a little puffier. When he opens his mouth again, it's by no will of his own. "Ah-hyuck!! this is no time for hoRSING AROUND, hee-haa!!"
Piinkie Pie has taken over his hero self again, and there is no new low he can sink to. This is the worst possible time for his kwami to possess his body, and for a joke? Now? Ugh.
Ladybug stares at him. He wishes the neon pink of his suit would hide his blush, but of course his mask leaves his cheeks open for vulnerability.
At long last, she snorts, then giggles. "C'mon, party pooper. Lets go get our..." she pauses, looks him up and down, then adds meaningfully: "other horse friend back."

Hypermediation in ML Media
Foundation:
The Lizzie Bennet Diaries are a modernization of Pride and Prejudice as well as the first major use of a multi-media platform for storytelling. The characters had tumblrs and twitters and instagrams on which they interacted with the audience as the characters.
The Lizzie Bennet Diaries also brought to light and popularized the efficacy of performing meta analysis of the text within the source material itself, especially through the form of hypermediation in which media is linked closely through indirect sources (for example, the way that Lydia’s video diaries explain the tension in Jane’s instagram posts).
Performative and metatextual media can function on multiple levels simultaneously, with the storyline casting light on itself and the canon text, but also the metatextual decisions made in the writer’s room, or the impact of the media in society at large.
Miraculous Ladybug has character instagrams, and many of the staff have twitters that they use to publicly discuss the series and its contents and details. Astruc is, himself, a character in the show.
There has been a movement with the popularization of social media that servers to deteriorate the wall between author and consumer. This has brought back to light the idea of God’s Word vs Death of the Author, and has blurred the lines between canon source material and externally derived content that is not valid by the premise of the text itself.
Analysis:
Miraculous Ladybug can no longer be consumed in its entirety simply by watching the traditional source content (i.e. the show). Character development and filler occurs in snapshots across multiple instagram posts and comments. Plot holes and details are explained and expounded on in staff-written twitter threads. Furthermore, other writers and animators are engaging in this very publicly performed tug of war on the character storylines. For example, Chloe’s redemption has been publicly fought over. This is all performed for the viewer to see, and it informs their reading of her character, but also the reading of the artists, but they know they’re performing it.
Taken in the current atmosphere and revolutionary changes in storytelling, this creates an environment where the readings of the story and the staff are creating metatextual commentary on each other and behaving performatively, which requires audience participation with multiple levels and medias of storytelling whether it was intentional or not.
Conclusion:
Miraculous Ladybug is performance art.

Listen, if you’ve missed the fact that grumpy catboy Miya is my favorite from this show, I don’t know what you’ve been reading off my blog. Since the giveaway ends tomorrow, here are my spring headcanons for Miya!! <3
Miya struggling to make a flower crown, Miya tossing petals down at his feet as it falls apart, Miya squeaking in surprise as Langa drops a perfect one on his hair, Miya scowling when Langa ruffles his hair in the process, Miya smiling quietly when Langa winks and says he can say he made it himself--
Reki teaches young Miya to skateboard in the summer. It's the first time Reki has invited Miya to hang out with the "big boys" and is surprised at how determined Miya is to be just like him; Reki's reaching out to steady Miya by holding his hand but Miya's starting to push off on his own without help. Their bags are tossed to the curb with popsicle sticks and lemonade cups littered around them, and the sun is bright and high like their spirits.
"I know you think I'm a slime! ...I know you think I'm a slime, okay, I know I'm icky and slimy and gross. I know I don't connect well with people. I never have. I can't teach them because I'm too condescending, I can't be their peer because anyone at my level thinks I'm too young. I can't feign inexperience because I'm fake. I don't know how to be a person people like, and maybe I'm not cut out for it anyways. I don't need it, I don't, but if I'm going to be a slime you damn well better believe I'm going to be a slime who wins." Miya pushes off, nearly knocking Reki over as he passes by-- a little too close, a little too controlled. "I'll see you at the rink, hero." Miya's voice gets lost in the rush of wind around him, a self-made cyclone of loneliness and determination.
Reki has never felt more like a slime.

So a lot of people have been talking about sentiAdrien, and @arcadeology brought up the point that many times, the very thing that someone is hurt by is what is part of them to begin with:
Tumblr media
Those of you who’ve read this delightful fic will understand exactly why this post about pigeon feather allergies has prompted me to write.
cw: sentiAdrien crack theories, pregnancy, miscarriage, blood, illness, Gabriel AgrestexPigeon Man crack OTP, crack taken seriously.
Emilie married Gabriel Agreste for the money.
It’s not a bad thing. He was sweet to her, attentive and kind if a little too coldly distant for her tastes, and Emilie was a model girlfriend-turned-wife in more ways than one: doting, flirtatious without being scandalous, affectionate, the picture perfect face for his up and coming fashion brand.
Besides, she was 24 years old and hadn’t even had a crush yet, and her sister loved magic so deeply Emilie was worried this mystical “career” would leave Amelie destitute. Gabriel was soft to her whims, and rich enough to support another family.
Emilie was just being practical.
Mr. Ramier was anything but. He was wildly passionate about anything and everything he loved, pigeons most of all. He dreamt of flying free, wild rebellion and dogged pursuit in the name of love. He was the best kind of crazy.
No one ever imagined he’d be crazy in love with a married woman.
He certainly never imagined she could love him back.
Emilie had always been practical, that’s all. So when the offer of a warm body came, a man who made her heart patter in her chest and bring to life the flutter of feathers taking flight in freedom as her wings, she fell into bed with him and loved and laughed and lied to keep her marriage safe. She loved Mr. Ramier for every reason she could never love Gabriel Agreste: he loved her back.
It’s just such a shame that practicality never prevented accidents. It’s such a shame Emilie could see herself loving this bastard baby enough to be impractical enough to keep him.
It doesn’t matter. Practical can mean anything, as long as it keeps her-- and now, her lover and her child-- safe. Magic, whispered her sister. Magic, she followed.
Gabriel, ever devoted servant of his wife, follows obediently.
Half buried in snow, fingers moments away from permanent frostbite, Emilie unearths her first treasure. It’s not half of what she wanted, neither wishes nor creation nor cat, but the butterfly and peacock miraculi wink and shimmer against snow, and the drop of blood that spills when the brooch pricks stands stark red against the fluffy white. She kicks black pebbles over the trodden snow to cover her tracks and grins, triumphant.
It’s a promise, Emilie whispers. Red for the ladybug, black for the cat she’ll have in her hands.
Promises are not practical, she remembers six months later. With every experiment on the brooch, Emilie finds herself coughing up blood and bile, black and red and horrible, horrifying.
It doesn’t matter. Emilie makes do with what she’s got. Gabriel searches harder, goes on longer trips and calls them business, because it’s his business whether she dies, whether she lives to represent his company, or to keep him company. He’s in Tibet when she succeeds, or manages something close to success. He has no idea the baby’s been lost.
He’s never known it wasn’t his, anyways.
Gabriel isn’t due back home before the baby comes; there’s a baby in her arms to greet him at the door and she’s made it herself. He praises her new choker, pigeon feather dusted in gold and glitter hanging down past her throat.
It’s the last time she’ll ever see Mr. Ramier. Emilie is practical, and her love is not. This gift, though, she will cherish for far longer than her own life.
She’ll cherish it long enough for her son’s.
Adrien is a perfect boy, a model boy modeled after his cousin and delightful to every sense; he grows in strange spurts and jumps, and Gabriel is too busy to notice. Emilie keeps her boy home, safe and protected and easy to mold.
It’s not enough. She sends Gabriel pacing the earth for the miraculi she craves, experiments desperately on the one she has until she’s coughing up more than blood: strength, memories, hope. It doesn’t matter. Anything is too cheap a price to pay for her baby boy, for the love she lost by the hand of her own folly.
When she gives up the last of everything, Adrien turns into a real boy: hard coded to love and grow and... rebel. He finds his own wings as his mother loses hers, and Gabriel goes mad in his grief.
After all, he’s lost the two people he’s ever known all at once.
When his empathy butterfly phases into Mr. Ramier, Gabriel is awash in a type of furiously determined love he's only felt twice.
Once from his wife...
And once upon a time from his son.

(they always do)

Hey babe, I wish you would write a fic where... Felix, Mari, and Luka move in together :3
YES ORANGES DOMESTIC FLUFF VERY GOOD CORRECT
Ohhh my gosh... oh my GOSH actually... ORANGES I am so full of oranges I wrote this because I want to have a GARDEN WITH YOU where we GROW THINGS and also ourselves, and also because I was FILLED with orange and wanted you to also be full of love. Oranges are love and I am dripping in the stickysweet tears of its joy. And also I was compelled by the gods themselves. The oranges must be FELT, they must be LIVED!!!
The three of them huddle around a planter box painted white against brown soil and drip orange juice like liquid gold from their fingertips. Luka lounges back in a lawnchair slicing through oranges plucked from a tree three feet away, coaxed out of the soil gently, lovingly by his own quiet care, then later blossomed with the clumsy curiosity that comes with new gardeners. Marinette and Felix could never resist getting dirty, not if it was with him, for him.
(Felix protests vehemently and flicks specks of invisible dust off of his vest, but still sprawls in the grass for lunch on lazy spring afternoons and digs into dirt until his cheeks streak with the effort of it. He spends the longest in the shower afterwards, scrubbing dirt from underneath his nails, but cleans up the bathroom afterwards too, so Marinette doesn't mind. Luka does, but only because he wants to step in with Felix.)
"Eat faster," Marinette panics when the juice drips faster into the soil than into her mouth, stops suckling at the slices and tears through them instead. This is hers, this is theirs, she won't let it go to the earth it came from just yet.
Felix watches the juice roll down his forearms and collect at his sleeves rolled up at his elbows and sighs. It'll be laundered, he reassures himself, and bites into the next slice Luka holds out to him, and doesn't for a second stop drinking in the sweet juice, the sweet moment. He eats faster because Marinette asked, and doesn’t think about the consequences, just licks at his hand when the juice spills out over his lips. Luka’s solution is the one they like best, kissing away errant juice from their skin, and Felix wonders if he should drip a little extra, just in case, then watches Marinette toss the peel into the garden and decides not to.
Marinette peeks up at Felix and he bites harder into the slice in his mouth, smiles around it like a child discovering orange slice grins for the first time. Luka laughs, and he scowls at him. The orange slice quite ruins the effect, and he's glad for it. Luka stands to pluck another orange from the tree and washes it off right there with the hose, and cuts into it anew.
Marinette disappears around the corner when she's had her fill and Luka wonders idly whether she's gone to wash up or tinker with the bookshelf still laying in pieces on the porch, or whether she'll come back two hours later with paint splotches in her hair. When she returns, she holds out peaches in her palms and Luka goes wide eyed, still nibbling at the last of the oranges Felix was too full to eat. He'd forgotten she had planted those, months ago, tended to the trees with her own steadfast determination, refusing his help even if he’s the one that taught her how to tend her garden. This garden is hers. This fruit is hers, and she holds it out to him now. The fruits have blossomed now, grown and ripe and rich with her efforts.
They'll be fed this spring.
They'll be fed this winter, too, holed up in the home they've built for themselves.
