Crescent City

Can we talk about how all three of these covers have one thing about them that don't match the other two?

Can we talk about how beautiful they all are, but the one thing in each of them irks me, each time I look at the covers?

Can we talk about how even though the one thing on each cover irks me, I fall in love with how beautiful the covers are even more each time I look at them?

Let me explain.

DISCLAIMER

I AM NOT COMPLAINING!! These are just little minor "The Covers Don't Match" things that I've noticed that's all. THIS POST IS ALL IN GOOD FUN!!

I do not need comments about how I need to lighten up. Or how minor they are and to ignore them.

House of Earth and Blood

Look how beautiful!! So different from the Throne of Glass and A Court of Thorns and Roses covers. Why didn't the series title stay large under the moon, and the book title stay smaller between the moon points, though like this one?

House of Sky and Breath

Again, beautiful! And aside from the titles in different places, it's not a drastic change! But Hunt is on the cover this time, whereas the other two covers have the same girl.

House of Flame and Shadow

It's probably my favourite cover. Same girl as book one, same title placing for series AND book title as book two, but where as the other two books were visually light, this one is dark.

Then, finally, when we revisit Lunathian, it would most likely be called House of Many Waters. The one minor cover difference for this one would be the title, in the lack of the word AND.

The “Multiple Mates” theory, and why it’s bullshit.

I’m sick and tired of seeing people talk about the “multiple mates” theory in ACOTAR.

I hate that it exists. I hate that it’s a thing people are legitimately debating right now. I hate the whole idea.

It’s not going to happen. The “Multiple Mates” topic was brought up in terms of the Throne of Glass books. Because before Empire of Storms, we the readers, just as everyone in the Throne of Glass books, believed that Rowan already had his mate, Lyria. It was stated she was his mate, and she died while she was pregnant with Rowans child.

So, in the rise of Rowaelin, people got hopeful, and someone asked Sarah J Maas if there was any chance someone could have more than one mate IN THRONE OF GLASS.

They asked on April 29th, 2015.

But this was a question asked before even A Court of Thorns and Roses was released, as that came out a week later on May 5th, 2015.

So this question was clearly aimed for Rowaelin, as at this point, Heir of Fire was the most recent ToG book, and we had learned that Rowan had a mate, who died long ago, and her name was Lyria.

The answer Sarah gave, was clearly meant to misdirect us readers into hoping in a Multiple Mate theory, for Rowaelin, but not truly knowing.

Because on September 6th, 2016, the Empire of Storms released, and we had our answer. And our answer?

The Multiple Mates theory for Rowaelin was completely false. The answer Sarah gave was a complete misdirection to the fans. It gave hope, but it didn’t answer.

Lyria never was Rowans mate. It was always, always, Aelin Ashryver Galathynius.

The “Multiple Mates Theory” came out exclusively for Throne of Glass. Sarah knew what she was doing when she answered, as she has mentioned time and again she knows the big plot points of her series, books ahead before they happen.

And this theory came out even before A Court of Thorns and Roses was even published to the public.

Now, I refuse to believe in this “theory” of Multiple Mates in regards to Lucien/Elain/Azriel. I refuse to entertain this theory the E*riels spew, because it is a theory debunked for an entire different series.

I refuse to believe in the possibility of “multiple mates” in the ACOTAR world until Sarah J Maas publishes it in a book.

No one will be able to change my mind on this topic, so don’t even bother trying.

Indigo Bonus Chapter Thoughts

My take on Rhysand, Nesta, and Ember.

Seeing this comment on TikTok has me... idk, I'm pissed. Let me explain.

Yes, the Trove answers to Nesta, so TECHNICALLY it was Nestas's decision what to do with the Mask.

Yes. Rhysand has every right to be pissed at Nesta for handing over the Mask to Bryce. Because their world is being put at risk.

But one thing that is pissing me off here is people going Anti-Ember for how Ember reacted, defending Mesta against Rhysand.

If you think Ember had no right to ... how did Nesta put it? Hand Rhysand his ass like she did? Just go back to your ACOTAR, and keep away from Crescent City. Maybe try that.

Again, Rhysand had every right to be angry at Nesta, I'm not saying he didn't. But the tiktok comment above? Calling Ember insensitive, just like Bryce?

Why? Because they believe Midgaurd deserves a chance to fight for their freedom against the Asteri?

Here's Ember, in a world she doesn't know, and one of the first conversations she hears after eating the magic bean is Rhysand going on about how Nesta shouldn't have thought twice, but to have killed Bryce.

Rhysand says this, IN EARSHOT OF EMBER. Not caring about Midguard. Leave Midguard to rot, and kill the woman(who can definitely hear me right now)'s daughter on sight.

Again, AGAIN, Rhysand is within his right to be pissed at Nesta.

But to act like Ember should have just rolled over and agreed because why? Midguard isn't the ACOTAR world? Thus, Midguard doesn't deserve the same right to fight as the ACOTAR world? That's what it's coming across as to people saying shit like the tiktok comment above.

Rhys has every right to be angry.

But don't fucking tell me Ember was wrong for defending Nesta when she saw Nesta was the only one there giving Midguard a chance at survival and freedom.

They both were within their rights.

You can't be mad at Ember without being mad at Rhysand.

You can't be mad at Rhysand without being mad at Ember.

THEY BOTH WANT THEIR WORLDS SAFE FROM ASTERI CONTROL!! And BOTH are rightfully angry about the whole situation, and they made that anger clearly known.

Ember just was sticking up for Nesta for giving Midguard that chance.

Fuck people piss me off.

It amuses me the number of e/riels I’ve seen say “hot take, I don’t like Ruhn and Lidia together. I just don’t get it. They’ve barely had any page time together, and they mind fucked once. It just doesn’t make sense to me” but oh lord they’ll give you a damn 2 day dissertation on why they think Az and Elain or Lucien and Vassa are end game. 🤨🙄 Make it make sense cause math ain’t mathing.

I saw a post on here saying now there's two Fire Breathing Bitch Queen's, and I haven't agreed to anything more in my life. (Post I saw was by @waywardbella can be found HERE) Though I love Lidia, no one owns this title more than the Aelin Ashryver Galathynius

Is it just me, or did anyone else feel like when Lidia went all Fire Badass in the final battle? That it was what was planned for Aelin in the final battle. We would have seen it then, but this was Sarah showing us what we didn't get to.

But Aelin had her own plans, and used up her built up magic when she did, because that was what needed to be done at the time, the only thing to save people, so she made the choice.

Because if I am remembering right, and correct me if I'm wrong, Aelin stood above and let her fire go, too protect Elide as she rode on a horse through Ilkin(? or was it Valg?) to go save Lorcan, bring him back to where everyone else was.

This feels like an Aelin decision that would have surprised Sarah. She did just mention on the Today Show that her characters will do that type of thing, and thinking way back, Sarah replied on Facebook to a comment saying Lucien and Elain being mates was something she didn't even see coming.

So Aelin doing this would mean she did not have that power, that much fire left for the final battle of the book.

So, after taking the antidote to the parasite and turning Pollox and those two guards to ash, Lidia walks out into the field. She then burns and melts many enemies, and bombs, and just, so many things, just as she's walking past them.

Does anyone else think this was, yes part of Lidias character as written, but also a tiny nodd, a small wink if you will, by Sarah, showing us that this is what Aelin would have been like if she didn't use up her fire before she reached her own final battle?

And here's the fun thing!! Even if Sathia chooses Colin, Tharion is willing to divorce her. But it's still okay to ship Sathia and Tharion. It's OKAY TO SHIP WHOEVER YOU WANT!

Tharion isn't my favourite character, but the way he's thinking and acting about Sathia? It was no random decision. He was thinking about, "What if this was Lesia?" He would want someone to step in to help his sister, so he was doing that for his friend, Flynn, but also because he could see that Sathia did not want to marry either of the murder twins. He was also putting it in a way where she had the choice.

I swear if the 🦇🌸 decide they want to ship Tarion and Sathia(what are we calling their ship name btw?), it would make them the biggest hypocrits, because...

"I'll marry her" = "Your my mate" in timing. But also huge meaning in those words, and both Tharion and Lucien are thinking of someone else they lost when saying it(not confirmed for Lucien, but the way he's voice broke, you can tell he was thinking of Jesminda and how he was thinking how he thought she was his mate and this means she never was).

Tharion going to the Meat Market at the end = Lucien telling Feyre he's going with her because he wants to see if Elain is worth fighting for. Listen, at that point, we didn't know what state Elain was in, or anything. And we have no clue how Sathia is doing.

Sathia sticking up for Tharion, against the River Queen = Elain saying "His name is Lucien" to her fiancée(at the time) Greyson. Listen, the River Queen can be scary sometimes. But Sathia held her ground against her when she was going against Tharion, and it seemed that she wouldn't open the Blue Court to refugees. Then Elain, when Greyson mocks Lucien or something(I can't remember what he said), and she immediately defends him, by reminding him Luciens' name.

Sathia being open, but not entirely with Tharion, before leaving him to help Collin = Elain starting to take that step down, and offering a small smile to Lucien across Feyre after the battle, before shutting him out. Listen, they both have their reasons. We understand Sathias more than we understand Elains, but this is a parallel that should be mentioned.

Listen, I'm not saying Tharion and Sathia are 🌸🦊 coded. But there are definitely parallels that can't be denied. I'd actually laugh at the hypocritical irony if I see an 🦇🌸 shipping Tharion and Sathia because of this.

It'd make more sense for them to ship Sathia and Collin because, even though we saw the two on the same page for like, two seconds... Collin is the quiet one, misunderstood, and sure he held the gun against Tharion and Sathia, but you don't get it. He was following orders! He didn't want to! And Sathia chose Collin!

Anyway, all in all, Tharion and Sathia parallel 🌸🦊 strongly. But Ship who you want to ship. Be that 🌸🦊 or 🦇🌸 and ship Sathia with Tharion or Collin

Just don't be a bully.

Tharion and Sathia. Another nail in the E/riel coffin.

The way Tharion thinks about Sathia is MILES ahead of how Azriel thinks of Elain and he just met her two seconds ago. That’s how you know an endgame when you see them.

He thinks she’s beautiful. He thinks she’s brave. He’s amazed by her standing up to the River Queen. He keeps being noble about her, he’s ready to die for her. He’s willing to divorce her if being with Colin will make her happy.

Like, I’m sorry but Azriel with Elain does not compare to this minutes-old casual situation.

Hello! This is @foxybananaaaz I made this account so I can talk about the ship below, amongst other things!

Could you imagine for a second the following people sitting down in a room, meeting.

Ruhn,

Aelin,

Rhysand,

Lidia.

If you think about it, it's confirmed in Crescent City 2 that Ruhn and Rhysand are practically identical. Lidia is described to look, just like Aelin. Both pairs, give or take a few differences.

And fan art can prove it. Look how almost identical they look, just based on their character descriptions!!

There is NO WAY this is a coincidence. And the fact that this pairing, the fact that they are mates, bridging the two other series together in a deeper way than Midguard already does?

Lidia, being a descendent of Brennan, thus being a distant cousin to Aelin, one of(if not THE) the most powerful fae in her world, Lidia and Aelin share that bloodline.

Ruhn, being a descendent of Theia, thus being a distant cousin to Rhysand. The most powerful High Lord in History. Ruhn and Rhysand share that bloodline.

And to further tie them all together, Lidia has the same fire that Aelin does, and Ruhn has the same mind speaking abilities that Rhysand does.

There is no way this is a coincidence. Sarah doesn't do coincidences. Not like this. There's just too many, the looks, the bloodlines, and the same power?

What's she got up her sleeves?

And then, imagine just how powerful Ruhn and Lidias child will be when they decide to have one of their own? Which will probably be when they have settled in, figured out a schedule that works with them, Brann and Actaeon AND their dad's, and still some years to go.

This Alternate Ending picks up after the time jump, after Elain leaves the Hospital after giving Eris the ring back.

Reposting here, to keep everything here.

Elain walked into her apartment with Desirae, watching as her daughter ran off to her bedroom to put her backpack away, excited because she had been promised a trip to the park after school.

“Desirae, you’ve got a package here.” Elain called out as she went and grabbed the gift the girls grandmother had sent for her sixth birthday before going to sit in the small living room to wait for her daughter.

Sure enough, her daughter raced out of her room, and jumped next to Elain, sitting, unable to stop bouncing from excitement.

“Is it from mystery Grandma mommy?” Desirae asked, looking up at Elain, excited about her package.

The fact that her daughter referred to her grandmother as ‘mystery Grandma’ hammered the nail deeper into Elains heart, every time she had said it.

It was something Desirae had come up with on her own because she had never met her grandmother. Luciens mother had told Elain after coming to meet her grandaughter after her birth that as much as it hurt, it would be easier if she didn’t have Desirae come around. Because if Lucien started asking, she didn’t know what to say. She sent gifts every birthday and Christmas. Elain always sent pictures. But they hadn’t ever planned a meet-up again.

“Mommy?” Desirae asked, trying to get Elains attention.

“Sorry, yes. It is from your grandma.” Elain answered, and passed the package to her daughter, and watched as Desirae opened up yet another intricate fox toy.

Her daughter loved foxes. It hurt how much she loved foxes because they were also Luciens' favourite animal. She could remember a conversation with him when he had said he once wanted to take in a fox as a pet. She thought him ridiculous.

She would take that fox as a pet, she’d take ten fox pets, if it meant having Lucien back now.

“Why don’t you go put your toy away, and we’ll go to the park now.” Elain said, smiling softly.

“Okay!” Desirae shrieked, and rand to put the to in her room came back out to the living room.

“Thank you Mystery Grandma!” Desirae had shouted before they walked out of the apartment, and left for the park.

*** *** ***

Elain sat there at the park, watching her daughter play on the playground. It was like any normal day at the park. She came here often with her daughter, especially when she started missing Lucien. This park was her safe space. This park was her place with her daughter.

This park held no memories of Lucien. The only trace of him would be the blur of her daughters curly red hair as she ran around playing. But Elain didn’t mind, because Desirae was her daughter. Her daughter was not connected to the pain she still felt in her heart.

Suddenly, Elain was pulled from her thoughts as a commotion behind the playground went on.

“Aiden no!” Another mother shouted sternly, and Elain would have tuned it out, if not for what she heard next.

“Mommy!” That was Desirae, and she sounded like she was starting to cry.

Immediately Elain stood up, and went to see what was going on, and saw Desirae wiping at her eyes, as another woman stood, with her son, a brown haired boy who appeared to be about three.

“What happened?” Elain asked, as she reached her daughter, and crouched down in front of her. “Did you get sand in your eye?”

Seeing her daughter nod, Elain smiled just softly. “Then this is a time your crying does good. Don’t rub your eyes, and blink really fast okay? Keep blinking really really fast.” She said, before kissing her daughter on the head.

“I’m so sorry,” the other mother exlaimed. “Aiden doesn’t really get out much and just gets excited when kids play with him.”

Elain looked to the other mother with an understanding smile of her own. “It’s alright. Desirae was the same way at his age. Still is today. I’m just glad it’s not the other way around, since it would be a very different situation, given how she’s much older.” Elain said, and then looked to the young boy finally, seeing his brown hair and slightly guilty shy eyes of russet before he hid behind his mother’s legs. “I’m Elain.”

“Jackie.” The other mother said.

With Desirae still crying, yet blinking furiously beside her, Elain heard someone else behind her, the voice causing her heart to stop, and her veins to fill with ice.

“Uh oh. Did Aiden get way too excited making a new friend again?”

Picking up Desirae and forcing a friendly smile on her face, Elain turned around and, after six years, looked into the face of Lucien. Her heart clenched, and pain filled every ounce of her.

“I wouldn’t put all the blame on him. I was just telling Jackie that Desirae is just the same.” Elain forced her voice to be friendly, kind. While she wanted to scream.

He had moved on. He had a son. Desirae biologically had a half-brother. She had gravitated to playing with her brother.

This park was supposed to be a safe space. He wasn’t supposed to be here.

“I think her time at the park today is done though, I’m going to get her home and make sure her eyes are thoroughly cleaned of sand. It was nice to meet you, Jackie, Aiden, and Lu- it was nice to meet you.” And with that, Elain walked off, carrying her daughter before she could break down.

She had almost said his name. The woman hadn’t said his name, and he hadn’t said his name. How would she have explained knowing him?

This park was supposed to be her safe space. This park was supposed to be just for her and her daughter, where memories of Lucien couldn’t hurt her.

This park was ruined for that now.

Before she had fully left the park, Elain made the mistake of looking back at him. She wished she hadn’t, because she saw the boy, Aiden playing again, as Lucien leaned down to kiss the woman, Jackie, seeming incredibly happy.

He had a family. He was happy. He truly would never remember her.
