These are some of my favorite stories I’ve ever written, thank you so incredibly much for writing this rec list and writing such lovely words about each fic here! This was such a nice surprise! Hidden Gems by @gryffindorhearts

You probably already know GH for her gorgeous and soothing artwork - like this perfect ethereal Luna, soft road trip romance or that delicious and self-indulgent dripping Draco - or for her creative art reclists - this is one of my faves! - but did you know that she’s also an incredibly talented writer? Lys has published a couple gems that touched me in different ways. Today I want to take the time to highlight her charming short reads which include some of my favorite tropes but with her special touch to it. Pretty much like her art, her words are light, gentle and meaningful so believe me when I say these short stories will stay with you for a little while after you’re done basking in their atmosphere. They have just the right amount of sweet sweet aching, quiet contemplation and subtle tension, perfectly capturing the adult life I envision for them. Happy Thursday and go treat yourself!

Remembrall (2021, T, 1.3k) - the sweetest crossword fic you’ll ever read, charming and full of domestic bliss!

Mornings at Grimmauld Place have a typical routine: Draco makes the tea and reads the Daily Prophet. Harry is only allowed to begin the exploding crossword puzzle after he has finished. Harry’s Quidditch-induced concussion has only thrown a minor wrench in their morning plans.

This Time Again (Next Year) (2021, T, 1.8k) - one of my favourite get together shorts, their chemistry is off the charts, tense and tender at once, and I love the soft realization guided by that hopeful, wistful feeling typical of new year festivities.

At thirty minutes to midnight on New Year’s Eve, Harry is buried under a mountain of paperwork. Only Malfoy, his long-time coworker and one-time lover, could have any hope of distracting him.

Put Some Time Aside (To Fall Apart) (2022, T, 3k) - professors and friends to lovers goodness! Love their easy friendship and the quiet tension in that dueling class, ahh the anticipation before they kiss 💋

They’re meant to teach the second-years how to duel in an hour, only Malfoy’s running late again, and Harry’s arm is still sore from a nasty bludger hit. Scared, Potter? In the dusk-lit light of Harry’s corner classroom, they prepare their lesson in more ways than one.

Witness Marks (2022, M, 15.5k) - the vampire mystery I didn’t know I needed with competent and meticulous clockmaker Draco (!!!) working together with Harry! Excellent world building, tension and an exciting plot twist within 15k, truly a delight.

No one comes to Cogg and Bell’s with a working clock. After all, it’s Draco’s job to repair what’s broken and put time – quite literally – back in order. When Harry Potter waltzes in a few decades after the War, red Head Auror robes flashing, Draco expected to serve as a consultant on a case. Instead, Harry offers him the broken Weasley family clock, and with it, the chance to live in the present for once.

Tai Recs: Drarry meets Church ~ a Religious/Belief/Faith list.

Some of you probably heard me talking on the Drarry Discord about my absolute LOVE for Priest / Father Harry, religious/faith themes and churches. So I decided to do a rec list on the topic! This one will be focused on Christianity (mainly Catholic) –I was raised in a Christian house of mixed faiths/religions, so they tend to catch my breath exactly because I feel like I can relate. This is NOT a master list, this is just a list of my favourite Christian Drarry fics that moved and comforted me. I hope you enjoy it :) 🌿

1) A Multitude of Sins by cryptonym (E, 40k+) HurtFest 2014

Peter 4:8 - Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. tw: attempted suicide

I think anyone who grew up in a Catholic church, surrounded by Priests and Deans and the parishioner life will relate to this fic. Father Harry is a devoted and caring priest, dealing with his own shadows, and always helping the church community. The way this fic was written and the whole plot of how they get entangled in a mix of feelings and sins is a work of art. This is my favourite church fic since I read it back in 2016. This fic keeps me company and brings me closer to so many old feelings. The life of being part of the Church is beautifully described and the questioning of religion and faith is a always there touch in Draco’s character. And the fall, my darlings, into love and rendition is the most beautiful gift cryptonym could have given our sinful souls. Also, It was written very respectfully and tastefully. A must read! 💜

2) By which we must be saved by @hogwartsfirebolt (G, 3k, 2020)

What happened was this: the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord was born as the seventh month died. Or: the one where Harry Potter knew his whole life that he was meant to be a savior, and Draco Malfoy joined him along the way.

Welcome to Messiah vibes. Honestly, I’m a true sucker for Messiahs, for the unconditional love and respect for human beings, for the power of forgiveness and faith. This fic made me miss my own faith and made me want to kneel and pray, for love, for goodness, for everything and everyone, because we are all loved and sacred. I probably enjoyed it so much because this is in what I actually believe: in compassion and true goodness of the heart. This is the vibe of this fic, and this Harry Potter is my forever Lord and Saviour. Such a blessing this fic 😭🙏

3) Series: Tidings of Comfort by @blamebrampton (G, 9.9k, 2002)

When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life. Luckily for Draco Malfoy, London has places where the tired can rest and recover.  

Comfort galore! If you want a Christmas vibe with churches, you are in the right place. Watching Draco find comfort in the hymns and ceremonies of the church made me feel cosy and comforted. Blamebrampton did a really wonderful job in transmitting the vibe of church and parishioner. Made me miss my old church days, the faces that start being familiar and the sounds and smells that transport us to feeling at home. Lovely! 🥰

4) No Absolutes  by @shealwaysreads (M, 402, 2019)

Draco understood worship. He understood unquestioning belief. He had grown within the walls of veneration and glorification of the past, of the few, of the pure. 

What I talk about when I talk about poetry. This fic was breathtakingly written. Bella has always this beautiful ways with words and here it makes faith and belief and Draco’s character study even more careful and deep; using Religious symbolism and imagery to work through Draco’s feelings in the post-war. It’s a gift with a very meaningful depth!  🙌✨

5) No sweeter Innocence by drarryandharry (G, 1.7k, 2019)

For Harry, church was the first place he truly felt at home. What happens when he realises it isn’t his home anymore? - Harry is gay and Christian, and then he has a breakdown.

Which of us, queer and Christian, didn’t have a breakdown or two? This fic was such a sweet way of describing a Christian Harry going through life and growing up and questioning himself. This fic took me back to my sixteens, when my parents didn’t approve my bisexuality, when incredulously I found myself feeling safer inside a Catholic church than at my own home. It took me back to when I decided God was, to me, above all, love and hope and acceptance and compassion. 🌈🙏

Bonus fic: Modern Love by @tackytigerfic (E, 61k+, 2020)

Harry Potter, of all people, knows that life isn’t always fair. And no one gets to be happy all of the time. But surely there’s something more—something better—than a rubbish Ministry job, and a lonely old house, and that feeling that everyone out there is doing a better job of living than Harry is.

Hear me out, Modern Love is NOT a religious fic. But there’s church, and Draco being involved in the parishioner community, and there’s this sexy gay Vicar, Rev. Andrew. And its one of my all times favourite fic. The bits and pieces about the church and charity life made me miss my teenage years in the church community. And the way Tacky portrayed the church members and the Reverend and Draco singing hymns just made my heart grow fond and warm and everyone should read this fic. That’s why it’s a bonus fic and a MUST READ! 🤓❤

I hope you all enjoyed this humble rec list. I’ve never done a rec list before, but as I’m a sucker for the trope, Drarry meets Church, I thought it was a nice thing to do. We were talking about having a fest maybe someday on spiritual/religious/faith themes and a nice way to spur the topic is reading the lovely fics we already have from our incredible drarry squad. I made sure to add not only my favourites and comforting ones, but the ones that are very respectful towards the beliefs of Christian faith. You'll be on the edge of your seat as they banter and dance around each other, clear affection for one another suffused through every line.

𝄞 Plant your hope (rain down on me) { M | 9k } by @bluesundaycake - darkfic lovers, this one's for you! this fic is raw and emotional, lyrically written, with horrifyingly brilliant worldbuilding and a gorgeously written intensity suffused from the beginning of the fic to the end. if you're up for a dark and gutting, beautifully composed MCD fic, I really recommend this one!

𝄞 like freedom { M | 4k } by @softlystarstruck and @babooshkart - oh this fic is packed full of gentle vibes, like watching a sunset turn the sky vibrantly orange. I love the way this MA writes about love as something that grows when tenderness is offered. and the art in this fic will also blow your mind -- snapshots of treasured, precious moments, each of which will warm your heart.

𝄞 Bright Side { T | 2k } by @floydig - this breathtaking fic relies on sharp, gorgeous prose to create an atmospheric, vignette-like sensation of each of them falling apart and somehow falling together. The story is full of grief and hope, and little lines that will hit you straight in the heart.

𝄞 Draco Malfoy Absolutely Does Not Need to Be Loved by Harry Bloody Potter { E | 18k } by @nv-md - i could not put this fic down from the moment I started it to the second I finished it -- and even once I'd finished it I wanted to go back in and reread it. MA's sense of humor is fantastic, and the bantery fuck buddies-to-lovers dynamic here is superb.

[useless technical shinfo: i used mostly a backstitch a few little french knots because i can't stop myself when it comes to those and some strips of see-through grey fabric for the smoke, all on plain white cotton fabric, three different shades of thread and a 20cm hoop. all together this took about 6 hours]

Never have I ever experience so much angst over picking a fic to embroider out of someone's whole catalogue. In the end this choice was totally self-indulgent as it's perhaps one of my favourites of Maesterchill's and well... it meant I could embroider hands again!

Happiest of birthdays, @maesterchill! Here's a little treat to say thank you for all your wonderful words, your wonderful art and just your wonderful presence in fandom in general. This doesn't do your beautiful Draco art any justice but I hope you like it!

I remember the first time I read oxygen (I've probably reread at least three or four times since then) and I was absolutely knocked sideways by it. An actual masterclass in the use of Second Person POV and just... so. much. yearning.

I am arse over tit for Draco's characterisation in this — his inner speech is so him and so rich and so moving. There's such raw feeling and history packed into these neat 4k words and the atmosphere is just absolutely breathtaking. Fair warning: it may make you want a cigarette right after. That's what happened to me — it was totally worth it 🤭
