Did you know it costs about 200 bucks to make a thousand stickers 3″ square?
The perfect size to slap onto those signs Texas schools are starting to put up that say “In God We Trust”.
It’d sure be a shame if hundreds of Texas students started putting a sticker like this on those signs.

Congress shall make no law..
So Texas has now mandated that public schools have to put up signs saying “In God We Trust”.
We need to organize sending free stickers who want them, with just the text of the First Amendment in black text on a white background, so students can slap them over the signs. New sign gets put up, or the sticker gets scraped off? New sticker by third period!

Addendum: Mark Bankston (the lawyer who absolutely dunked on Jones and his legal team) has revealed that Jones’ phone archive contained, among other things:
Nude pictures of Jones’ wife sent to Roger Stone- that his wife did NOT consent to have sent!
Dick pics. So many dick pics.
Discussions that seem to indicate that Jones had some kind of back-channel link to Ted Cruz.
And the word on the street is that Bankston is going to release as much of this publicly as he can.
When it rains...
It pours. There’s been multiple stories about Il Douche getting closer to a reckoning.
For years we’ve been conditioned to the idea that he’s done horrific, treasonous shit in public, on camera, and nothing will happen. They investigate, nothing happens. News stories, nothing happens.
Actual, according-to-Hoyle treason, ON CAMERA, with people trying to literally overthrow the US government, also on camera- nothing happens.
But this time… this time feels different. There’s a different vibe to this.
First, the search warrant at Mar-a-Lago.
Then the Alex Jones texts and phone data being turned over to the January 6 Committee.
Now the IRS is being ordered to turn over Trump’s tax returns to the House.
All this in just the last two days. The dominoes are falling more and more quickly.
Buckle up, kids. Shit’s about to get real interesting.

There’s a tiny part of me that wants to think that Jones’ lawyer did all of this on purpose to expose him- risking disbarment and worse to save the country.
I picture him in his office. It’s late, there’s a half-full bottle of bourbon on the desk and a tumbler with two fingers of booze in it. No ice. There’s lip marks on the rim, he’s had a couple belts.
His eyes are haunted as he looks again at the laptop screen. There’s an email open to the plaintiff’s attorney, with a link pasted into the body of the message.
His head tilts back to take another belt, but his eyes stay open and riveted to the screen.
A moment passes. He closes his eyes briefly, sighs and says under his breath “God forgive me...”, reaches over and grabs the mouse, slides it jerkily around a moment.
There’s a pause. You can see his index finger trembling on the mouse button.
Finally, it clicks. The window closes.
He takes another drink.

Greetings my friends,
In my real life I’m an audiobook narrator, and for nearly a decade I’ve been volunteering at my local library to read stories to grownups.
It’s called “Listen Here”, and is held the first Friday of every month from noon to 1 PM Pacific time (3 to 4 PM Eastern). It’s billed as “storytime for grownups” and was originally targeted at the local office workers to come over and listen to a story while eating their lunch.
Due to COVID it was cancelled for a while, then for the last few months has been online-only via Zoom.
But today, we get to go back to LIVE readings in a real room with real people!
But, EVEN BETTER! They’re keeping the Zoom meeting. That means that anyone, anywhere in the world who wants to catch a couple of short stories can sign up and get a Zoom meeting link to catch a live story reading.
I hope you’ll come out if you’re local to Olympia, and if you’re not, sign up and hang out while I read stories into your earholes for an hour or so.
Today’s selections are two stories by Pacific Northwest author Kim Fu, from their collection Lesser Known Monsters of the 21st Century.
Hope to see you there!

I’ve been following this and the best quote I’ve heard about it is that the archive from the phone contains “intimate” conversations with Roger Stone.
I have never been more conflicted about wanting to know but also not wanting to know. It’s Lovecraftian, almost- that which once seen may never be unseen.
What do you think about the Alex Jones thing happening right now?
I hope that his cell phone contains an arsenal of smoking guns that take down the entire fascist wing of the GOP (put another way, the entire GOP). That would be the most amazing plot twist in this whole horrible thing we've been living through since 2016.
I'm disgusted that he was only ordered to pay a little over 4 million dollars. He should be bankrupt and in prison by the time this is all over.

Reminding myself that small steps are still steps
I need to save some money to make a purchase to support my hobby. It’s about $600, and it’ll take a while to save that up. (If you’re curious, I need to replace the high voltage transformer in a ham radio linear amplifier. Turns out that HV transformers capable of putting out 1200 volts aren’t cheap).
I like to have a beer from time to time, and I’ve been known to make small impulse purchases. But I thought, maybe I can redirect that into something better and accomplish a real goal.
So when I find myself wanting to go to the store and come home with some beer to enjoy while gaming, or I want to have a snack while I’m out running errands, I instead go home, put the amount I’d have spent into a savings account and remind myself that I’m giving a gift to future me.
So far I’m up to $50.

I told the Midjourney AI to make me a picture: “The last paladin of his order offers prayers before the final battle” and this was what came out.

Hailing frequencies closed...
I was very saddened, as were many Trek fans, to hear of the passing of Nichelle Nichols yesterday.
I grew up watching Star Trek reruns on syndicated TV. I even checked out a reel-to-reel projector from the local library so I could play the episodes of Trek they had on film. It was interesting to watch “Catspaw” that way.
Nichelle Nichols was part of my childhood through that love for Star Trek and of course the films that followed. And while I never met her or corresponded with her, I’m going to miss her very much.
Thank you, Nichelle. And goodbye.

Found the “droid” font in the STRAY data folder.
Because it’s Unreal Engine, it compresses the font into a DXT5 image file for performance and space reasons, so I can’t extract the original font file, just this sample image showing the font at various sizes.
I provided the translation in green. There’s other (normal Arabic lettering) fonts in the data files that say the same thing, but spell “THAT” correctly.
