Hung up on the fact that for ages all that Loki wanted was a throne, but then he finally found something he wanted more than a throne, his friends, and he had to leave them for a throne he never wanted in order to save their lives

Izzy *needed* to finally hear that Blackbeard said he was amazing
When was the last time you think Ed told Izzy he appreciated him
Muppet pirates are better at telling a guy he’s awesome
(Also can we appreciate what a dramatic, showy, magnificent bastard Izzy is? Slicing his name into Stede’s shirt and now this???)

Do you think Izzy ever went into the hold after he ordered the crew to keep Ed's body there. Do you think he ever sat at Ed's side and held his hand, do you think he cried and begged for him to come back. Do you think he confessed his love to Ed through tears time and time again, apologizing and praying until hie couldn't speak anymore. Do you think that he gingerly covered Ed's face. Do you think the crew heard all of it but knew not to mention anything to him. Do you.

izzy is so dear to me, people have various opinions about him but seeing him grow slowly is so precious to me, he cried in front of the crew, he let himself be held, he actually said to ed he had love for him, which is so important to me, he's known this man practically his whole life and he finally got to admit to ed and himself how he feels, he got his makeup done, he feels more free and i can actually feel it and it makes me so happy that he can actually breathe maybe for the first time

The Man with a Hook for his Head
I've been thinking about Izzy's S2 arc, and storytelling - stories for coping with trauma but also Stede's bedtime stories, and how fitting they are for Stede's and Ed's evolution in S2 (which of course has been wonderfully analyzied in depth already).
I haven't seen anything about the third story though, and I'd like to propose that it's perfect for the 3rd main character, Izzy.
These are the three bedtime stories told by Stede and Ed:
Stede is the wooden puppet who wants to be a real boy - all his life he has been playing at life, pretending to be a husband and father, pretending to be a pirate. In S2, we see him becoming "real".
Ed is of course the Kraken - his central conflict is being unable to control his darker impulses, his perceived unloveableness because he's thinks he is a bad person. In S2, we also see him taking steps to come to grips with that.
The third story is met with derision by the crew ("It's not scary at all!"): the Man with a Hook for his Head.
"And, finally, the man saw who was driving the carriage. It was an elderly gentleman with a hook… for a head!
A hook for a head? How does that work? H-How does he even eat?
He doesn't eat. He's got a hook for a head!
Does it even make sense? No. How does he kiss?
It doesn't kiss. No one likes him."
I'd like to propose that Izzy is Hookhead Man. And for me, this is the scariest of them all. He doesn't eat. He doesn't make sense. He doesn't kiss. No one likes him :(
What even is he? He's an inanimate tool with no feelings and aspirations of his own. He's there to scare people, but isn't really taken seriously. He doesn't make sense at all.
I think this comes pretty close to Izzy's self image in S2E4, and even in S1 (and maybe years before that) this is what Izzy thought he had to be. Work was everything to him. We only see him eating once, and it's this weird performance during his ill-fated stint as captain. We know nothing about his dreams, skills apart from fighting, how he spends his free time. He's Blackbeard's tool, always.
Izzy's whole identity is being First Mate. His head isn't human, it's a pirate's symbol (see also: the only pirate in a muppets movie).
But how do you exchange a hook for a head?
Here Hookhead and Izzy's symbol of growth, the ship's unicorn, come together. The head (or hook) has to be blown off first so it can be replaced with something better. This literally happens to the unicorn because of Izzy's betrayal and to Izzy in Ep2 of course.
But we see this building up from the start of S2. The crew start seeing Izzy as a human with feelings, Izzy himself starts questioning his purpose apart from being useful. And from Ep5 onwards, we're seeing Izzy slowly developing in to a man with a proper human head, whittling, training Stede, giving advice, just hanging out in the captain's chair, singing and performing, flirting and just being, finally, a real person who eats, who makes sense, who kisses and who is liked.

One of my favourites thing about donna and ten is the way the doctor simply loves her not in a romantic way but in a "donna you're brilliant" way. He's so impressed and loving the way she simply is and the way she was like " bring me back to my wedding you crazy martian" or "you're not mating with me, sunshine !" was unusual for him because his other companions weren't like that but that did him so good. But she's even more than that, she's so ready to help him into making him realising things like " you're talking all the time but you don't say anything" or "I think sometimes you need someone to tell you to stop doctor" and I love her for that. Also, the way that ten said " you saved my life in so many ways" and was just knowing her for like 3 days and later we realise that indeed just by meeting him she saved his life shows the importance and greatness of there relationship. ( Plus, they're really hilarious together )

Crowley admitted his feelings in Season 1
Tumblr media
This specific quote is in reference to Act II, Scene 2 of Shakespeare's play "Antony and Cleopatra." Which canonically had not even been written yet in the series, which IMPLIES that when Shakespeare heard Crowley's words, he interpreted them as what they truly meant and transitioned them into the play. So basically Crowley has been absolutely besotted by Aziraphale from the beginning and Shakespeare agreed so much he put it in one of the most famous romantic plays of all time.
The original quote by Shakespeare read as follows:
“Never; he will not: Age cannot wither her, nor custom stale Her infinite variety;”
This quote is spoken in the play when a follower of Mark Antony describes the appearance of Cleopatra, Queen of Egypt, as she rode her barge down the river Cydnus; and how Mark Antony first lays eyes on her then immediately falls head-over-heels in love with her. "Age does not wither her" means that her beauty and allure do not diminish with the passage of time. It implies that as she ages, she remains just as attractive and enchanting as ever. "Nor custom stale her infinite variety": Here, "custom" refers to familiarity or routine. The quote suggests that even familiarity or habit does not make Cleopatra's qualities or personality seem boring or less interesting. "Infinite Variety" implies that she possesses an inexhaustible range of qualities, moods, and aspects that keep her intriguing and unpredictable---Sound like someone familiar?
Now keep in mind that when Crowley said it, It was never originally about Cleopatra
Crowley said “Age does wither nor custom stale HIS infinite variety” because AZIRIPHALE is the subject.
Crowley has admitted to being captivated by Aziraphale since he first laid eyes on him; since the first ever rainfall. Through thousands of years, Aziraphale has–quite literally never aged nor withered but–remained a consistent and magnetic presence in Crowley's life; Aziraphale company never stales because he is infinite variety, the angel with 100 contradictions, who gave away their sword without hesitation and rebelled against heaven beside Crowley; who keeps surprising him at every turn. Aziraphale himself bends the effects of time and routine because no matter how many years pass Crowley will always find him as gorgeous and fascinating as he did before the light was even born.
Aziraphale obviously doesn't really understand Shakespeare or the depth of poetry at this time, (as interpreted by his reactions to the play) and Crowley realizes this and grasps the moment to confess his feelings knowing that Aziraphale likely would not look too deep past it, you can see the shift in him when he recognizes the opportunity and the sudden morose tone he has when saying it to no one in particular.
Tumblr media
The Good Omens writers are absolute saints, nothing they do is lazy in the least and I am positive that effort went into finding a quote that encapsulated the true depth of relations between the two.
