Let's celebrate with an Art Book!

Hey, everyone! ;D January 30th is my birthday, and I want to celebrate it with you all!

On December 25th, I posted the full version of LtGBtK's Art Book (vol.1) on ko-fi to all of my supporters there.

Starting on January 25th and until the 31st, you'll also be able to download the Art Book for free on Itch.io! (I'll make sure to share the link with you all as soon as you can grab your free copy! ;D)

The Art Book is filled to the brim with lore, more information about ALL the characters in the game, and even some hints of what you can expect from the final 2 chapters of LtGBtK. *evil grin* >;))) Besides that, I also added a section there for the questions you sent to Mathias, and I'm super excited to see your reactions to some of those answers! haha

SO I find the last point quite interesting ! You see, I ship both Bingqiu and Liushen in SVSSS and the thing I find most peculiar is that the caracterization of SQQ ( Shen Yuan ) is vastly different :

In Bingqiu's fics ( or any media actually ) : SQQ is shy, thin faced, a bit ashamed of showing too much emotion while being massively awkward. He can even seems cold or detached and it's not because he doesn't love LBH but he does show "less" overall leaving LBH as the most direct partner ( fof a lack of better term, english is not my first language ).

In Liushen fic however, SQQ tend to be more childish, joyful, mischevious and flirty, as if there was so much awkwardness and tsundere in LQG that SQQ had to compensate by being the more " direct " partner ( once they're in a relationship because SQQ is painfully oblivious. )

I feel like both ship bring something to caracterize SQQ but I'm also curious on why SQQ personality is so different between those two ship !

Also SVSSS is the only book of MXTX in where I can ship something other that the main ship ( The mere idea of separating Hualian makes me saaaad 🥺 )

It was just a bit of a ramble over something I've saw quite a lot on social media

TGCF BOOK SPOILERS

First let me say that I love Hua Cheng. This is not Hua Cheng slander (I don't even think it's possible for Hua Cheng slander to exist unless it was a joke).

HOWEVER!!!

The "I pray to never rest in peace" line is one of the many HuaLian moments that's romanticized alot in the fandom. Not to critique anyone romanticising it, we all read and relate to same thing very differently.

I will never forget the first time I saw that line.

I hadn't read the TGCF books yet. Someone quoted it as a spoiler of something that a TGCF character would say in the future. They didn't need to indicate which character said it, I immediately guessed Hua Cheng.....and I was right. This was using the little information I had on him from the Donghua. People argue that Hua Cheng's whole personality is not loving Xie Lian but dammit son. The other side of Hua Cheng's personality gets very depressing when you truly study it. He is hyper-focusing so much on Xie Lian so he doesn't spare a second thinking about himself. About whatever internal problems that he's running away from.

The first time I saw that line I didn't think "oh, how romantic" I thought "Damn bro, learn to love yourself before loving others. Please see a therapist. Imagine how Xie Lian feels hearing you say this." Xie Lian who loves him so much. 😔

During that scene in Book 5, Xie Lian was sobbing and it wasn't just because of the difficult painful situation. It was because Hua Cheng meant every word of that sentence. It was knowing that Hua Cheng didn't care what he did with himself as long as he was able to protect Xie Lian, it was knowing the true extent of Hua Cheng's love that he'd lost his life for him over and over again and still would not rest in peace. Xie Lian with his own self esteem issues feeling he doesn't deserve this level of dedication but he's going to get it anyway and Hua Cheng doesn't care if he gains nothing from it. People say that Luo Binghe's love is intense and hard to handle, but honestly, Hua Cheng too. 💀

I got a bit more relaxed when I found out Xie Lian was just as damaged and they kind of balance each other out, kinda holding the pieces of themselves together with each other's arms. They have proven, thank everything holy, that they can in fact exist separate of each other. They can function. They can pretend to be put together for an extended period of time, years and decades and centuries. But as soon as they touch....watch their masks fall. Watch them hold each other so tight like they're trying to be one being. They can't stand to be away from each other. They match energy, that's why they work.

Hua Cheng's love would not work if it was not Xie Lian. Probably same vice versa.
