I recently finished up this Scolopendra laeta commission for a customer. They’re very attractively colored pedes and I’ve always rather wanted to make one so thanks for the opportunity Helen!

This was disappointing to learn. I’m very fond of Hazbin Hotel, but it seems that Vivzie is yet another problematic creator.
VIVZIEPOP IS A TERF. SHE IS TRANSPHOBIC. STOP TRYING TO HIDE THIS.
ISTG IF I SEE SOMEONE TRY TO DEFEND HER WITHOUT EVEN READING THE DOCUMENT OR BEING TRANS THEMSELVES I WILL DELETE YOUR COMMENT.

So I’d like to talk a little bit about ace representation in the media and cultural awareness of ace/aro identities.

Thank you!

This is Unosuke a Scolopendra “white legs” and the fourth and second of my plush pedes. Allow me to explain; I started Uno shortly after I finished Jack. I got his head and back done and then decided I didn’t like how his head looked (I didn’t like the fabric I had used, and I was still figuring out the anatomy then). I ended up putting him aside and starting other projects.
After finishing up Tybalt and Mercutio I came back to Uno. I redid his head, and he ended up being probably my favorite pede I’ve created to date. I’m particularly fond of the color effect that I got on his legs.
Uno has since found a new home overseas. He was a bit of a wrench to part with, but I’m sure he’s well looked after.
As I always say in these posts, if you have any interest in a personalized pede, or something else strange and arthropodal take a turn by my Etsy shop. I take commissions

This is the first centipede plush I ever made. He’s Jack and he’s a Scolopendra heros. When I dove into the world of scary myriapods the heros are what first caught my attention. I was struck by their vibrant colors and fearsome reputation, and I decided to try to replicate them in plush.
Jack was about figuring out the basic structures of a centipede. He’s not as fancy as the ones who followed; he’s not made of as soft a fabric, I didn’t segment his legs or antennae and his eyes are quite far from accurate. Nevertheless Jack holds a special place in my heart. As a “learning creation” he came together well, and the sleekness of felt lends itself to a centipede. He is certainly not my most elaborate or realistic pede, but he laid the groundwork for those that followed.
Jack has been languishing in my shop for several months. If you want to give him a good home he’s very endearing and only half the price of my more elaborate pedes. I also take commissions if there is a species you’re just dying to own.

This is the third of my centipedes; a Scolopendra paradoxa who I called Mercutio. I love the color scheme of paradoxas and find them to be one of the most stunning of all centipedes, but it presented some challenges in its replication. The main difficulty was getting the banded pattern on the back because, inconveniently, it does not alternate between orange and black segments, but rather each segment is both orange and black. It may seem a small distinction but it meant double the sewing for me!
Beyond that Mercutio was just determined to be a pain in my ass. The threads broke all the time even though it was the same basic sturdy sewing thread I typically use, and when it wasn’t breaking it was getting tangled. Many of his segment had to be redone because they either ended up too small or they refused to lie flat. Also the sheer number of times I managed to stab my finger with the needle while I was working on him was ridiculous. We got there in the end but he fought me every step of the way! He was the complete opposite of Tybalt in that respect.
In the end Mercutio also went off to a new home where he seems to be much loved. I may revisit paradoxas again in the future because as I said they are one of my favorite pedes, but after my experience working with him it can wait.
If you’re interested in owning one of my pedes or any other bizarre arthropods check out my Etsy shop. I also take commissions.

This was my second plush centipede. He was based on a common color morph of a Scolopendra dehaani and I called him Tybalt after the character in Romeo and Juliet. He was one of the least problematic plushes I have ever created in terms of getting threads tangled or needing to have pieces recut, and I was very happy with how he turned out. About a month after I finished him I put him up on my Etsy shop for the substantial price of $400. I wasn’t eager to sell him you see and I figured that if I was going to let him go I wanted to actually make something off of it. Unusually for my shop he was noticed very quickly and brought in a rush of views and favorites. I don’t really understand Etsy algorithms, but something about him clicked and he ended up selling very quickly. I have made quite a few centipedes since Tybalt but I will always look back on him fondly. I hope you’re happy where you landed buddy.
If anyone wants to check out my Etsy shop I’ll leave the address below. I sell weird handmade plushes and take custom orders if you have a hankering to own one yourself.

As a white trans person I think it’s important to acknowledge that even though I am part of a marginalized group I am still privileged. Black trans people often face many more obstacles to their identities than their white counterparts, and black trans women are by far the most threatened demographic in our community. There are, however already many people talking about this issue who are far more knowledgeable about it than me. So in the waning days of this year’s black history month I want to encourage everyone to seek out some black trans and non-binary creators and give them some love.
Can we talk about how one too many people on the site think being white is the default for being trans?
Can we talk about how white trans people are seen as "more trans" compared to black people and poc?
Can't even look up androgynous haircuts because here yall go

man. this whole thing pisses me off because like. even when people talk about staff having a history of hating trans women, that this isnt the first time, without fail black trans women are forgotten to be included again and again. im not surprised this caused such an uproar when the popular white woman gets deleted. nobody should be, its been that way like forever. some cunt in my inbox got annoyed i called rita a sex worker (lol? okay)
Tumblr media
but i mentioned that in my post because so many black trans women have gotten removed from this site for their sex work alone, regardless of if it "broke community guidelines" or not, especially when tumblr live and the ads on this website are so fucking horny. idek what to say rn because like. this wont get as many notes as the posts talking about her will. the exploding car thing is gonna get more attention than the trans women on this site you dont actually care about listening to. ive been talking about how unfair it is to be a black tgirl on this site for years and nobody cares.
i love rita, we talked abit the other day and she's doing fine, dont get it twisted and think i hate her or some bs, she's a big fucking reason im not fucking homeless.
but part of why her deletion got to #1 trending on tumblr for multiple days in a row is that she's white

Not Too old to be Trans
I’ve encountered this subject on Reddit several times over the past few weeks and I wanted to address it here. These threads are frequently made by people in their thirties although sometimes they are as old as fourties or fifties and sometimes as young as twenties, and the gist tends to be that this “older” trans person is feeling isolated and/or doubting whether it is worth it to come out as trans when most of the community seems to be so much younger. Now as a trans person who has lived a few decades and whose egg is fairly recently cracked I sympathize with where these posters are coming from, and so I want to say a couple of things;
First off it is my solid and unchanging opinion that you are never too old to be yourself. Your life is yours and no one else should get to dictate what you do with it. We do not owe society, or any individual for that matter, the performance of our assigned gender, and we are not letting anyone down by being ourselves. Now I acknowledge that I speak from a position of privilege on these matters. Not everyone is in a secure enough position to safely be themselves, and I say that’s a fucking crime. Fucking colonialism has so deeply entrenched this idea of two opposing genders that anyone who deviates from it is deemed a radical. But it is fucking colonialism that this system is based on, not objective reality. The two gender system is a human construction, and in a fair world we should be under no obligation to adhere to it.
This brings me to my second point which is the implicit ageism of the concern that one is “too old.” Now it’s no secret that American society is deeply ageist. We value youth, beauty and productivity and once you’re beyond a certain age these qualities are presumed deficient and society starts to want you invisible; tucked safely into some miserable 9 to 5 job feeding the corporate machine all while surrendering your passions to capitalism. It’s not dissimilar to how trans people are allowed in public so long as we stay in the closet. So my question is why give them what they want? Society says being trans is shameful, but we know that’s not true. Society says that being old is shameful, but everyone who is lucky enough to live grows old. And the reality is that most younger trans people seem quite thrilled to hear about their elders thriving.
Ultimately the problem, I think, is the narrative. Trans people are supposed to be young and suffering and tragic. When we’re not that people don’t know what to do with us. But the way to get more cis people to understand and sympathize with us is to humanize the trans experience. We are not a singular childhood trauma. We are a multifaceted community each of whom has our own journey to identity, and the age at which that journey occurred is completely erroneous. It’s just another way of dividing us and keeping us down.

people often talk about the amount of transfems who have to stay closeted for safety very often, and it is a lot of people, but it's very rarely acknowledged how many transmasculine people have to stay closeted for life as well. i really think it's important to talk about both sides of this, because so many people are affected by this issue.
society is openly hostile toward transmasculine, afab, intersex, and other ""non male"" people who genuinely try to pass as men. people like to say that it's accepted for afab people to crossdress-- but it's not. truly "crossdressing" as an afab person will get you mocked and threatened. before i transitioned, people would actually approach me and tell me that i couldn't wear men's clothing when i did. this never happened when i wore "masculine women's clothing." never. cishet people can tell by the subtle differences in the cuts of clothing, it's not that black and white.
attempts to behave in masculine and male ways will get you targeted. whenever i would hold open doors for men in my conservative redneck 1,000 person population home town, they would look at me like i had 3 heads when i was pre-transition. women aren't allowed to hold open doors for men, that's a man's place. women aren't allowed to use heavy machinery or tools. women aren't allowed to try to foot the bill. you get the picture. even certain masculine behaviors will get you yelled at or berated or worse.
going on testosterone is outright terrifying because unless the person responds to it poorly or doesn't take a very high dose, the effects are almost immediately noticeable, and many are completely irreversible. while most cishets don't know what a trans man is, they can instantly tell that they hate transmasculine people once they encounter one, especially one in very early medical transition. i had the worst time in the early days of my transition because i was such a "he-she". it really is hard, cishet people do NOT like this combination of features, either once they encounter it.
it's not easy for any of us, and it's tragic when any trans person has to live their entire life closeted for fear of safety. let's go ahead and acknowledge the transmascs, trans men, intersex, transneutral, nonbinary, genderqueer, drag king, crossdressing, transvestite, male impersonating, genderfluid, bigender and other folks in this sphere of transness who also have to hide for their own personal safety. we see you, you are beautiful, you are still trans even if you can't show the entire world who you are.

Hey, yes, come here:
In regards to Nex’s death do NOT erase the fact that they were Native American. Do NOT. They’re native identity is just as integral to this as their trans one, I ASSURE you. The Oklahoma Governor has been rallying against native people since he got elected.

Truly. It’s always “protect the children” when they’re trying to pass legislation against LGBTQ+ people, but when one of us gets murdered, radio silence. All they want to protect is the status quo and their own privileged positions within it
Nex Benedict deserved to live.
That's not just bullying, that's assault and murder.
Notice how the "save the children" crowd is literally nowhere to be seen?
