(Alleged) leaks about Dragon Age: Dreadwolf gameplay

A leaker from reddit claimed to do playtesting of Dreadwolf gameplay and shared some tidbits. I complied all his answers here for convenience, since he talked on various subreddits.

Are they reliable? No idea. However, their answers seems to match the leaked gameplay we saw previously and also some other leaks from before.

Combat gameplay:

1 PC + 3 companions

You cannot control your companions directly, you control your PC. You can give out commands to them to use abilities (similar to Mass Effect Andromeda), but you don't switch over to them.

You can pause combat. Your character can attack, dodge and block. You cannot spam abilities. You dont have many abilities.

Leaker described the combat as close to God of War, Mass Effect Andromeda, Witcher 3. "If ME:A was meelee instead of ranged".

"essentially action game now, no similarity to Dragon Age: Origins" (or Baldurs Gate 3)

No tactical aspect

General gameplay

Dialogue wheel like Inquisition and ME:A

Dialogue wheel had tone indicators (eg.: heart for flirting)

Difficulty felt okay, no Dark Souls levels but not too easy either - leaker died a few times to bigger groups of enemies

The gameplay felt fun

Quest were cinematic + had story, no fetch quest like in MMOS (collect 10 flowers etc)

Game contains codex

Easy to navigate UI

Each character had one big skill tree

Graphics and looks

Facial expressions much improved over Andromeda, Industry standard now

Graphics of environment are beautiful and really seem worth the wait

Hair is average, not terrible but not top tier either, passable for 2023

Writing

Cant really comment on the story, was thrown in the middle of the quest (the focus of play test was on gameplay)

Quests felt very dynamic and one of the best in the series in terms of atmosphere

Character writing and dialogue felt "Marvel-esque", very quippy. Think Varric or Purple Hawke but for all the characters. (Leaker said closer to Iron Man than newest Marvel movies).

Writing felt bit better than in Inquisition

Companions

Leaker had 3 companions to play with, none of them have been a companion previously, though one of them was "pretty expected"

Companion 3: 🧝🏿

(based on leakers first comment, I assume the first companion is Harding. He also mentioned a sad elven girl - companion 2? Companion 3 might be black elf who appeared in some concept art.)

Atmosphere

Good, it felt like a Dragon Age game (in regards to setting and overall feel of the world)

Out of all DA games, felt closest to DA2

General atmosphere is "race against the clock".

"It’s one of those things where the world is about to change significantly and everyone who knows, knows, but like 99% of people don’t know and so it’s super stressful,and you don’t have time to express to the average layperson why they’ve been attacked by a horde of monsters. It’s depressing and everyone is fighting not to feel defeated."

"The game will be divisive"

"Definitely better than Andromeda. Hardcore fans will probably be upset in the way that it’s the furthest from Origins that this series has ever been."

Didn't really pay attention to music.

On release

"It's (the game) basically done. I saw a leak a while ago about them having originally planned on releasing in 2023, and they could've definitely done that."

They claim the only thing missing seems to be some voice acting for protagonist and bug testing.

They think that the game will definitely release this year (2024), it seems basically done.

Well, hopefully they are right! (about the release, at least ;) )
