Kvitebjørn: Østenfor sol og vestenfor måne (White Bear: East of the Sun and West of the Moon) will be released Christmas 2024.
In the epic fairy tale The White Bear, we meet the fearless and daunting Liv, who longs to leave the valley she lives in. By the mountains she meets the polar bear White Bear, and she becomes both curious about and fascinated by this beautiful creature. In White Bears ice palace, a warm friendship blossoms between the two, because White Bear is not just a bear, he is also the prince Valemon, cursed by a witch who threatens to ruin the entire world. However, can the curse be broken so that they can save the world, and find happiness...? Based on Asbjørnsen and Moe's classic fairytale.
Unofficial translation of the song in the video:
Who is he? Who are you? White Bear, tell me now. You're my friend, of that I believe.
The bear that comes in the day is my friend, I know that now, But what about Valemon? Who is he?
I know nothing about you, While you know all about me. White Bear, Valemon, White Bear, Valemon, Who is he? Yes, who are you?
Yes, who is he? Who are you? You are in the night and the ice, But in a weird way it's like warmth and light oozes from you, like a breeze So what, Valemon? Who are you?
I know nothing about you, While you know all about me White Bear, Valemon, White Bear, Valemon, Who is he? Yes, who are you?
Yes, who are you? Who is he? Yes, who are you? Ugly or beautiful? Kind or cruel? Boring, loving, wise or stupid?
No, I know nothing about you while you know all about me White Bear, Valemon, White Bear, Valemon, Who is he? Yes, who are you?
White Bear, Valemon, White Bear, Valemon, Who is he? Yes, who are you? Who are you…?
Who are you, really?

For vi er gutta (”Because we are guys”), in cinemas 28th September, 2018.
The title is a reference to Jokke & Valentinerne’s song “Gutta” (Guys).
Every Tuesday, 25 buddies come together to drink beer, tell jokes and... sing off-key. “Mannskoret” was founded by DumDumBoys-vocalist Prepple Houmb and others for almost 15 years ago. Behind closed doors in Kampen Bistro in Oslo, the boys are allowed to be themselves in their own funny freezone, and sing rock and punk, and once every blue moon some “real music”.
Now, Mannskoret have gotten their biggest and most absurd gig: They are going to be the warm-up band for Black Sabbath in front of 10′000 people. However, trouble brews behind the scenes: One of the choir guys have little time left to live and might not even be alive for the big concert. Their running joke, that the choir’s purpose is for the members to sing at each other’s funerals, has suddenly become a reality. Now their love of singing, their humour and their brotherhood have become something bigger than the guys ever imagined.
“For vi er gutta” is an intimate look into a world where tough men find true friendship.
UNOFFICIAL TRANSLATION (taken from subtitles):
MAN: We are Mannskoret. We like to sing and drink beer.
ANNOUNCER: Now the famous Mannskoret is here.
MAN: We also wrote in the rules that we are to sing in each other’s funerals. Which will be a bit of a bummer for the second-to-last guy.
(Mannskoret has gotten the dream job) (They will be warm-up for Black Sabbath)
MAN 2: In June, in the Tons of Rock concert, we will warm up the audience for Black Sabbath.
MAN 3: I think we should sing “Gabriella’s sång”. MAN 4: We have so many women who think that is the greatest song in the world.
CHOIR: (singing Raga Rocker’s “Fritt liv”, “free life”) “Free life!” DIRECTOR: One, two three! CHOIR: “I live as if I was rich, though no money I have // Driving through the city eating caviar. // Living as it suits me and taking what I can get // Ain’t needing a peg to hang my life on.”
DIRECTOR: They always knew that the rules say they will be singing in the funerals of their members. And, as it looks like now, I’m going to be the first man out.
MAN 5: If I had been sick and given the death sentence, I’m not sure if I’d been able to direct a choir. But that’s what he loves to do. MAN: And I think he loves us. MAN 5; And we love him.
MAN 5: We live until he is no longer here, and after... we will see.
MAN 2: You are the boss on this; you decide.
MAN: It’s going to be an amazing concert.
MAN: He is going to keep going until that concert. He is going to be on that scene when it happens.
MAN 6: Krogh has sent me a message where he writes, with no typos: I’ll direct Tons of Rock if I’m not dead.
CHOIR: (singing Jokke & Valentinerne’s “Gutta”) “For we’re guys who have done it all // So we don’t need to do more. // We’ve traveled the world...”

La meg være ung (”Let Me be Young”) by SERVED.
Unofficially translated lyrics:
Everyone thinks it is about being the best Everyone looks around and thinks “Am I the most beautiful?” I wish that I could be invisible Invisible
Cause the world watches, we never get any peace They look at us through a magnifying glass I feel so naked right now; I’m trying, after all Everyone are so alike and keep me stuck.
(chorus) Let me be the one I want to be Let me fail so I can learn Let me be young Leave me be Leave me be
Let me be young, yeah, yeah Leave me be Leave me be Let me be young, yeah, yeah Leave me be Leave me be
Let me be young Just let me live Just let me walk my own path Just let me say something before you have opinions Let me live my life as me! (end of chorus)
I want to dance till I get dizzy Sleep all night underneath open skies Everyone tries to tell me who I should become But I aint like ‘em.
If the world entire watches Let them see If you don’t like it, you can look away I feel so naked now, but let it be I don’t wanna regret what I didn’t get to do.
(repeat chorus x2)

Can i get english subtitles for the movie?
Which movie? “Kule kidz gråter ikke” or “Askeladden”? I am sure Askeladden will get official English subtitles in the future, considering its budget and response.
At any rate, I would not be able to subtitle an entire movie. When I made this blog, it was in mind of translating trailers, songs and other things like that, which don’t require as much work and knowledge in video editing. Translating movies or books is too much work at this time, and I don’t know how to distribute those subtitles in a legal way.
However, if you have a song or a trailer you would like translated, I can do that!

Can you translate the book Achtste groepers huilen niet into English please?
I am not that interested in translating entire books in this blog. It is mostly for translating songs, which are much shorter anyway, and to help give meaning to other visual media from Norway by translating trailers’ dialogue and such. Especially since the original Dutch book is about 175 pages.
If you have requests for shorter projects I would be happy to try, though!

Askeladden i Dovregubbens hall (The Ash Lad in the Old Man of Dovre’s Hall”) will be released in 29th of September, 2017.
The movie is largely inspired by the Norwegian fairytales of Espen Askeladd, Espen the Ash Lad. A lot of the fairytale imaginary in the movie is inspired by art and poetry over the years.
We are in Norway a long, long time ago. The poor farmer’s son Espen and his brothers go on a dangerous adventure to save the Princess of the kingdom, as the rewards can save the family farm. The Princess is kidnapped by the Old Man of Dovre himself; a horrible troll that is said to be unbeatable.
Unofficial translation of dialogue:
Espen: Oh! I found something, I found something! Per: What did you find this time, ash lad?
Espen: Good morning, brothers! Per: What do you mean, morning? We’ve been up and working since sunrise. Espen: Work isn’t everything in life.
Father: We’ll go hunt. Espen: Can I join? Father and Brothers: NO.
Kristin: I do NOT want to marry!
King: The King ORDERS you to marry Fredrik!
King: KRISTIN!
Man: The King has decreed that the one to find the Princess will get her and half the kingdom. Espen: Is he just going to give her to whoever...? Fredrik: The Princess shall marry me.
Father: You have to find the Princess.
Espen: Saving the Princess is my only hope. Troll Woman: Hmm...
Troll Woman: Forget it! It’s too dangerous! The Old Man of Dovre has her. Espen: Isn’t that just a fairytale? Troll Woman: There is always some truth in all fairytales.
Prist: The Old Man of Dovre...! Woman: It’s just an old myth and you know it.
Fredrik: Tell me where she is! Espen: No.
Per: The Princess isn’t our responsibility! Do you REALLY think she’d want to marry you?
Pål: Is there anything else I should know? Do unicorns exist now too? Per: Don’t be stupid. Pål: Why is that more stupid than trolls? Per: Because it’s absurd! It’s a horse with a horn on its head!

Audio
Alle snakker sant (”Everyone speaks the truth”) by Siri Nilsen, from the album of the same name in 2011.
Unofficial translation:
Where will you go when every road leads to a wall and on that wall there are cracks from your head in the past?
Who do you listen to when everyone speaks the truth and say “Listen” and you’ve heard it a thousand times already? And you wonder...
Where will you go? You need a new road, right now
And the trains leave and others manage just fine taking the right train at the right time. You always wake up in the wrong city
How long will hope last when you think you will manage but your feet only know one road? And you wonder...
Where will you go? You need a new road, right now... ...when you don’t have fight left in you anymore. You close your eyes and only see black Your map is blank.
And then, who will you defeat? Who do you have to defeat in duel when the only one you go against is yourself again and again and...?
How many times will you walk the same road, time and again because it’s the only one you know while you ask with your clearest voice: “Where will you go?”?
Where will you go? You need a new road, right now

Rosemari, 9th of September, 2016.
GENRE: Drama AGE RATING: 12 years DIRECTOR: Sara Johnsen WRITER: Sara Johnsen CAST: Ruby Dagnall, Tuva Novotny, Laila Goody
In the middle of her wedding celebration, the doubting bride Unn Tove finds a newborn girl in the hotel’s toilet. She leaves the child to the child welfare.
Sixteen years later, a young and energic girl appears on Unn Tove’s door. It is Rosemari, the baby from the wedding. They decide to find out who her biological parents are.
Together they imagine a story about a young pair who loved each other; an eccentric ex-boxer with an erotic edge and a mother who chose to hide a big secret. This is a touching and fun story about how sex, lies and biology created a beautiful flower, Rosemari.
(Rosemari - 2016 - Filmweb)
UNOFFICIAL TRANSLATION:
UNN TOVE: Hello...?
UNN TOVE: Is she going to be adopted? I mean, she can just live with me. NURSE: It is nice that you care, but as I said, you are not allowed to be here.
ROSEMARI: What do you think? FOSTER MOTHER: She’s cool. ROSEMARI: But do you think we look alike?
ROSEMARI: I’ve lived with the same people in twelve years. I received these papers a couple of weeks ago. UNN TOVE: The only reason my name’s on this, is because it was I who found you. We didn’t find your mother.
ROSEMARI: Maybe she just thought she was going to the toilet, and then I just came out. UNN TOVE: I’ve birthed two children. It really hurts a lot.
UNN’S FRIEND: Why in the world do you want to find her? It could actually be the best thing to happen to a person, to grow up without a mother.
ROSEMARI: Who leaves their child in the toilet? UNN TOVE: Maybe that’s what we’ll find out.
WOMAN: It’s not the first time someone is born in the toilet.
MAN: I’d thought it might be Gypsies, but you don’t really look like that.
ROSEMARI: So you knew my mother? MAN2: She was a phenomenal woman. A really delicious woman.
MAN3: She owed money to people you shouldn’t owe money to.
ROSEMARI: You can’t see her face.
UNN’S FRIEND: You’ve got to remember that genes aren’t everything. Anyway, everyone in Norway is related. There’s been a whole lot of inbreeding...
ROSEMARI: I wish you were my mother.
UNN’S FRIEND: That dark one over there is probably, like, Christian Grey. UNN TOVE: You think all men are sexy. UNN’S FRIEND: Yeah? I’m kinda lucky like that.
