I didn't have "try to keep your friends from falling off a ladybug" on my 2023 d&d bingo card and yet here we are

#yes its 2024 by now but this happened and was drawn in 2023 so it counts #d&d #dnd #dungeons and dragons #art #my art #first flora's crush started to fall and she had things click into place that uh oh she likes him #and then when he managed to get up BOTH beau and zenny started to fall #we left on a cliffhanger for like 2.5 months and only wrapped up whether we were falling to our deaths or not last night #that was a very long 2.5 months #but worth it #although my dice were being assholes last night #I rolled above a ten like 2 or 3 times and didn't even get to use 1 of them because it was at disadvantage #no joke rolled a 2 on the die like 5 times #wanted to bang my head against a wall a little bit

Fanaedar can’t steal glances at Flora very often because he’s got some strange magic stuff that’s triggered by eye contact and he doesn’t want to risk it, but one of the moments he can is when she’s in the zone working on a project

#but like #he definitely doesnt have a crush and he doesn't know what you're talking about #dnd #dungeons and dragons #art #just a little sketch todayyy #as of drafting this post: no neither one has admitted to themselves or anyone else that they have feelings for each other #she's just oblivious #his is through stubborn force of will because he has 2 other consciousnesses that unfortunately can hear his thoughts like an open book #and vice versa #and both of them do know that he has a crush #and one of them is an active pest about it #but fan still will not admit to having a feeling #feelings? what are those #stop smiling at her then dummy #stop looking for an excuse to touch her #stop prioritizing the enemies that are attacking her #im good im fine im not feeling things about them #ok goodbye

Flora was pretty visibly shaken after losing her best friend, so that night, while she was sitting alone processing, Fanaedar sent over a dancing light in the form of a butterfly to try to "subtly" comfort her... and then promptly attempted to disguise that it was him who did it

#i thought for sure she wasnt gonna realize it was from him with her 9 insight but then fanaedar went and rolled a 4 on deception so- #art #dungeons and dragons #dnd #dnd pc #d&d #but he totally doesn't have a crush guys definitely not #the next day everyone had to hold hands to not get lost through the feywilds and flora was holding his and gave it a squeeze in thanks #also this night when she started to get more sad to the point of crying he woke up the druid zenny by snapping in her face and disappearing #so she could go comfort flora #and again tried to pass it off as not being him to do it #she's bout to figure out about her crush I can feel it she's just got a lot of other stuff on her mind atm

after a long fight to rescue her from a dangerous figure from her past, Noore chose to leave the party for her own protection - leaving behind only a note and a devastated Flora

#dungeons and dragons #dnd #dnd pc #flora #flora dunnan #ttrpg #my art #a moment of hesitancy before following the rest of her companions back into the feywild #as of me drawing this I still haven't figured out how flora's gonna process the loss #of the first person she thought truly cared about her for who she was inside and not her position #especially immediately after learning that she looks so much like Noore's sister #so it wasn't even actually who she was on the inside that drew noore to her #it was because she so strongly reminded her of someone else entirely #my kiddo has a lot of processing to do #and so do I tbh #idk I've been thinking a lot about how I tend to explore different aspects of myself in my dnd characters #and while Brina has very much been me trying to accept being unapologetically myself #and like unmasking my adhd #flora has been a journey of love? and like. what it means to give love and how to learn to receive it from the people around her #and also to some degree the difference between being used and being loved #specifically through the lens of her caregivers in that regard for backstory stuffs #tbh this doesn't stop at dnd characters bc I did it with Cora too without thinking #with her it was a big exploration of like... no longer bottling up emotions and learning how to wield them like a blade #just like... a lot of learning to cope with responsibility and how to not lose oneself through that #and also - in regards to her romancing bull - a lot of just. deciding to no longer care about what other people think of decisions #and like all of these are still things that I need to continue working on in myself #but it's interesting to think of how it's like... less daunting to explore big things like that through a character first #idk #I havent purposely sought to do this with any of them it's just kind of a pattern I've noticed esp when I particularly connect with an oc #anyways

so, one of the pcs was reunited with their partner in the feywilds and let me tell you at least half of the players (including myself) were emotional wrecks about them for several days after

A little moment from a few sessions ago where Flora was checking on Fanaedar's eye discoloration to try and tell if the feywild-magic-stealing fey soul he's helping keep in a mental prison has been able to get more control

so, turns out Radar has an alter ego, Decay, locked away in his head who somehow, through some weird mental connection we don’t fully understand yet and crazy feywild magic, is shifting the power balance and affecting Fanaedar

flora keeps getting charmed - in this instance by a beholder - and she tried to convince Fanaedar to stop fighting by standing in front of his bow

#it did not work because he has the sharpshooter feat but she didnt know that #dnd #ttrpg #dungeons and dragons #it did lead to a fun lil moment of him resting his bow on her shoulder to shoot past her #'that was a little hot not gonna lie' - our bard's player #honestly yeah it was and im glad someone other than me said it #we were not actually fighting the beholder believe it or not #the beholder was being dominated and forced to help in the fight. we didnt even know it existed at this point #when we found him we freed him :) #he ate the guy who was experimenting on him and then fucked off into the world :) #we named him barry :) #he's our friend :)
