the irony of saying ‘this sounds insecure’ as if…that’s not the whole point of the song jolene. it’s insecurity from two different perspectives!!!
Did we really need the Pick-Me version of Jolene?

everything about them makes me physically ill i’m not kidding if i think about them too long my chest gets heavy and tears start forming
you guys what the hell gojo and geto are so gay
i’m like 5 min away from finishing the movie and this is the most romantic shit i’ve ever seen
why is the music so romantic and why are they talking so soft and WHY did they mute gojo on whatever he said to geto and WHY DID GETO REACT LIKE THAT TO WHATEVER HE SAID

when u get this u have to put 5 songs 🎵 u actually listen to, publicly. then, send this ask to 10 of your favorite followers (non-negotiable, positivity is cool)✨
(You don’t have to do this, obviously, but I’m just sending to let you know I appreciate you!! :D 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡)
(I can’t remember if I sent this to you already…)
🥹🥹🥹
(no you didn’t send it to me, AND I APPRECIATE YOU TOO!! SO SO MUCH!!!🫂)
I’ve been listening to a lot of good music lately, and, in my completely non biased opinion, here are five songs that are genuinely the best things you’ll ever hear.
Summer Renaissance by Beyoncé (Album : Renaissance)
makes you want to get up and dance, it feels like a celebration (the whole album does tbh)
Worth It by Raye (Album : My 21st Century Blues)
fun, bouncy, puts you in a great mood (she’s my favourite ‘new’ artist, this album is genuinely a work of art)
Dive by NCT DoJaeJung (Album : Perfume)
slower, relaxing, something you’d drive with the windows down to (a 10/10 album too)
Cranes In The Sky by Solange (Album : A Seat At The Table)
it’s one of those songs that you just have to experience
Most Men by Amber Mark
i’ve been a TAD bit obsessed with this since i first heard it (a year?) ago, and i recently remembered it and it’s so good
thanks for the ask🫂🫂🫂

Listen, I understand being curious about celebrities' lives. If you see a celebrity doing a bunch of gay things you might think "hey, maybe that artist is queer" but that's as far as it should go. You should never harass, or threaten, or force anyone to come out. That is fucking disrespectful and wrong. Queerness is about including anyone who feels that they do not fit into normal society, there is no one way of being queer. It's not a box, it's free and open and that's the beauty of it, so how about we fucking stop forcing queer people to come out, or label themselves, it's none of your business.
This has become a pattern and it needs to STOP

It's come to my attention that a good portion of the younger generation has not been made aware of one of the greatest and most hated PILLARS of millennial society.
So I apologize, but I must take on this task. A new hand must touch the beacon. The knowledge must be passed on. The chain can not be broken.
So.
The Game.
The following are the rules of The Game:
there is no winning The Game
once you know of The Game, you are always playing the game
the point of The Game is to not think about The Game
if you think about The Game, you have lost The Game, and must announce this to those around you - causing them to also lose The Game
A "reset period" of roughly an hour or two before loss announcements is common in colloquial rules to allow yourself and those around you to properly temporarily "forget" about The Game, however that is not an official rule.
Go forth, you next generation, and I am sorry.

Thinking about a wee thing in nope where the creature stills the movement and flow of electricity (easy transfer of fame/nepotism etc) and the only way to make them work again is by putting in the hard work and using their hands to crank the camera and make power.

because one of my absolute favourite things was when i was watching and oj cracked the jeep door, as soon as i said ‘getyourassbackinside’ he did exactly that, locked the door and just went ‘nope.’
see also: em going ‘nah nah nah’ when they first figured out jj was in the clouds?? i was saying the same thing.
ok the Haywoods being Black is so important to me and important to the plot but have we talked about just How Important that is? yes the obvious line of plot (them being exploited etc.) but also very specifically their mannerisms????
ive seen the headcanon circling around that OJ is autistic. im not gonna say no he isnt, because everyone is entitled to that opinion… but like… your evidence isnt evidencing because the traits youre saying he has because hes autistic seem to be a lot more because he’s Black. specifically a dark skinned Black man. ALSO WHOSE BEST FRIEND IS HIS SISTER.
bell hooks wrote about the history and generational trauma when it comes to Black people and gaze. google is free. HOWEVER I want us to remember (with this fucked up ass movie coming out) why was Emmett Till brutally murdered? because he looked. when I was growing up I would get smacked by my mom if i got caught staring at someone. in any context. if I hold eye contact while expressing boundaries to any white person, my doing so would be seen as an act of malice. not because of my tone or anything (im neurodivergent I am so aware of my tone at all times) but because im making eye contact. also, because of slavery and the generational trauma that has still made its way into parenting tactics today, Black people are always respectful. always. we were raised that way. so it only makes SENSE that OJ is avoiding eye contacting the he is spared by jean jacket (and they even were able to coexist) was because he respected her. he respected that she was the predator and her space.
ANOTHER THING that I’ve noticed is that Black boys with good relationships with their sisters exhibit a very specific set of mannerisms that OJ executes perfectly. the gentle reminders, conveying intensity with the smallest of gestures. he doesnt need to tell her he loves her for us to get that. hes her biggest supporter and at the end of the day she knows she can count on him; hes her family.
ALSO (I have so many thoughts on this movie) someone on here said that they are doing the things you tell the main protagonists in like “normal” horror movies not to do and you keep rooting for them. and if I remember correctly they say it’s because u understand their motivation behind it, but like low-key high key, I think a big part of why you root for them is because they’re Black. Jordan peele said multiple times that the reason the movie is called nope is because that how Black people behave in horror movies (not midsommar tho but tbh I blame white academia for that one) we say nope and we run. and so this idea of not doing that is so (not necessarily) abnormal (but that’s the only word that came to mind), that you cant help but root for them.
tldr: I love when Black people make shit for Black people.

ok sorry i have something to say about nope. i have seen a lot of ppl talking ab oj avoiding eye contact w everybody 99% of the time & a lot of ppl have been reading this as his character being autism coded. which is great! as a Black autistic person i’m like fuck yeah! turn that shit up!
but there are layers here. oj’s Blackness plays an evident role. so many of the characters that he is actively Not Looking At are….. white. (i saw another user talking ab this and i’ll tag them if i can find their post again). there is a very real cultural significance of Black people not looking white people in the eye to avoid “causing problems” or literally being beat and/or murdered for it. this is central to the movie. oj is SMART. he is calculated and analytical, and he’s worked in the film business for a very long time. and this poses the question: in a movie about a spectacle, what does it mean to be invisible?
additionally, oj’s avoiding eye contact makes sense for his character even if he wasn’t autism-coded. if the whole point of the movie is that you are saved by not viewing the spectacle, it makes perfect sense that oj is avoiding everyone’s eyes. if you are saved by not seeing, what is it that would make you look? what would make you give up everything if you knew what you would lose?
there’s only one thing, of course. only one thing oj would give everything up for. and that’s his sister.

there is something particularly stomach churning to me about jupe’s storyline. i’m not sure how to put it into words just yet but both the traumatic experience when he was younger with gordy and his attempt to make a spectacle of jean jacket as an adult, leading him to subject others to the same dangers he himself had experienced made me feel especially uneasy. the fact that he ended up producing the same situation which had marked and haunted his entire life for people as unsuspecting as he was. the parallels between attempts at pageantry of a dangerous creature overshadowing the need for safety. the shift from being a victim of this system who got lucky enough to survive it to becoming a perpetrator of this same abuse who gets swallowed whole. idk feels bad
