Cassie’s up in her room and trying to think up name ideas for her Pocket, who seems interested in the process but for obvious reasons can’t really weigh in past nodding or shaking his head. She’s googling Pocket name sites, but honestly it feels silly looking for advice from an outside source; her Pocket is the one whose opinion matters here.

But also she has absolutely zero faith in her capacity to pick a good name for him, so she’s looking for outside sources.

“I’m all yours but you’re all mine” for WIP Wednesday please? You’re a legend for doing this after the craziness of last week btw, don’t be afraid to take breaks if it gets to be too much for you! :)

Cassie doesn’t read any of the names off as she browses the site, since she doesn’t want to accidentally saddle her Pocket with something weird and random that she hasn’t really, like . . . thought through or anything. Odie’s name means something; she doesn’t want to stick her own Pocket with one that doesn’t matter. 

She wants him to like it, obviously, but she also doesn’t want to let him down by accidentally offering something . . . unimportant, she guesses. Something that doesn’t mean something to her, and that won’t make her soulmate feel appreciated. Her Pocket’s brand-new, after all; he doesn’t know this stuff.

Also if she ever has to look Superman in the eye and tell him that she named her Pocket, like, “Pocky” or “Tiny” or some dumb cliche cutesy thing that doesn’t actually mean anything, she’ll never be able to show her face in the sector again. Like, ever. 

Gods, even the thought is mortifying.

“I’m looking for good names,” Cassie tells her Pocket as he peers curiously over her shoulder at her phone screen. “I don’t wanna offer you something that’s not–you know, meaningful or anything, you know?” 

Her Pocket stares intently at her phone, then chirps quietly and presses himself against the side of her neck, hugging her face tight. She blushes a little, probably, but reaches up and pats his back. At least he appreciates her trying, she thinks.

It’s going to be so weird, having Superman for a soulmate, but . . . well, if he appreciates her best efforts half as much as his Pocket-version does . . . 

Well, she wouldn’t mind, that’s all.
