This was starting to become a problem, one that you wasn’t prepared to think about let alone unpack, whilst sitting here alone at the bar once again after being ghosted by your latest date.

The finance looking bro who had messaged you first , making you briefly wonder if it had been a scam but the guy had been real, or at least the pictures and his flirty DM’s were yet Rubin was neither here or online.

Leaving you all alone in this busy bar with nothing but your phone for company, which meant that you could either stay here and have another drink or cut all losses, perhaps go and stop by your best friend Kate’s crashing there for the night instead.

Whilst you could still do that because this weekend Kate was getting married to Seth, sure they had been together for ages but you’ve always enjoyed an impromptu visit, falling asleep on the couch usually drunk but recently this had kind of felt like a rather childish thing to do.

Armed with the inability to not always compare your life to Kate’s but yours was obviously a very different picture, tiny apartment and obviously no boyfriend, you was one date away from giving it all up to adopt a bunch of cats and possibly also become a nun.

But this line of thinking suddenly skids to an abrupt halt, when you are nudged in the ribs from your seated position on the metal stool, looking up to see a guy holding out his hands which were large and made you forget about everything before this very moment.

“Sorry I got shoved-“

“Buy a lady a goddamn drink first.” You shout at the guy complete with a wide smile, whilst you subtly checks out his vital statistics.

At least six foot tall with wide shoulders the kind that someone could swing from, large hands which needed to be noted twice, plus his smug grin and brown mischievous eyes alone were enough to colour you very interested.

“What are you staring at? Do I have something on my face-“

“Not yet.” You cut off the guy in front of you once again, only this time with a playful bite of your bottom lip.

“I totally heard that, so what are you drinking?” The guy asks with a deep chuckle, one that has you sitting up in your seat, shoulders pushed back to showcase your curves.

“Firstly you were supposed to hear that and secondly a vodka on the rocks.” You lean forward quickly noticing his eyes, which were traveling downwards scanning every inch of your body.

“Do you have a name then?” The guy questions his hazel coloured eyes, darting back up to meet yours, all the while that smug smile still remained on his handsome face.

“It’s y/n and let me guess yours-“

Before you could start to really flirt loudly over the dance music, you are interrupted by another guy equally as tall his obvious counterpart only with blonde spiky hair instead and a cocky look on his face.

“Nick, what the fuck-“

The guy stops talking when he spots you glaring at him, clearly he had just wandered in on something, much to his amusement he winks at you happily and then glances back at his oldest friend.

“Marcus, this is y/n I’ve just met her so go and get your own fucking drink!” The guy that you now know as Nick informs his friend who just rolls his eyes playfully in your direction.

“So this is it? Over fifteen years of friendship reduced to nothing-“

“Cut out the dramatics!” Nick interjects with a frustrated look on his face.

“Wait till y/n finds out about your problem-“

“Go away Marcus-“

“It’s so pathetic really!” Marcus cuts off Nick with a laugh, but then he gives his friend a beer from a passing tray, literally grabbing it and placing it on the counter in one swift movement.

“Please leave us alone-“

“Dude you really haven’t got a chance!” Marcus declares complete with an unattractive snort.

“He might do, so go away Marcus!” You yell over the thumping music, ready to see the back of this guy already but obviously not Nick as well

“See! Fuck off!” Nick laughs happily rewarding you with another wink.

“Whatever.” Marcus chuckles then heads off with a salute at both of you.

“So, what is your problem?” You asks Nick when he looks down to meet your gaze.

“That I love too much.” Nick states after a beat with a incredibly pained look on his face, complete with flat hand placed firmly against his chest.

This makes Chloe laugh loudly and Nick watch in awe from the response, it was like music to his ears and made him want to suddenly do it again and again, especially seeing how he had all night was very happy to do this…
