I stop making #newyearsresolutions a long time ago because I never end up keeping them. But I wonder if it was because I set wrong kinds of goals or they were all just too unrealistic goals. But I have do one resolution that I really want to work on this year. It is recognizing and savoring the journey of making an epic #graphicnovel and show myself just how much fun it can be. I still have a long way to go, but I’m beginning to see how much progress I’ve made so far and it gives me hope that the end is not too far. #AlmostAmericanGirl has been published in Korea by #Gilbutschool! This is the first time that my work has been translated in Korean. I’m both excited, and humbled that my #memoir can be read by people in my motherland now. In this book, I talk about some of the issues in #Koreansociety that I’ve experienced growing up there. I got a haircut yesterday and realized I look so much like how I drew myself in my memoir, Almost American girl now 😅 (minus a few wrinkles, sun spots and grey in my hair of course)! The next photo is me when I was 14 in Alabama which I’ve used as reference to create my younger self as a character. I’ve gotten grey hairs since my early 20’s but it has significantly increased over the past couple years (the pandemic is no joke on our stress level). I had a wonderful time shooting an episode of a food documentary series yesterday. What a way to come back to my beloved city of #newyork after a year of pandemic! Getting so close to finishing the first draft of my next graphic novel. The total page count is 306, which makes it the longest graphic novel that I’ve worked on so far. This is my first long fiction and the story is EPIC- I still can’t believe all this came out of me! 😬 The ending of the story is really fantastical, and has a lot of spiritual elements which will be so fun to draw. ❤️🌕🔮Making fictional graphic novel was A LOT harder than I thought, but I’m already brimming with ideas for a prequel and sequel of this story. I know I’ve got to finish this book first but it’s hard to control when the inspirations are flowing in!
