Firstly, thanks for the mention. You're doing a pretty great role swap, yourself!

Secondly, you put it into words so perfectly. In a way, taking the Kanroji name would be a version of Iguro Obanai "dying" and being reborn in the aftermath of everything that happens in the manga.

Obanai Would 100% Take Mitsuri's Last Name If They Got Together/Married

So recently I read the latest installment of @rubylarkspur22's KnY role-swap Sunlit Blossoms (which you guys should totally check out if you haven't yet because it's so good), and a conversation between Mitsuri and Obanai brought up a headcanon that I've had for a very long time about their relationship had they gotten together during canon.

If you've read the title, then you can probably guess what it is lol.

I know it's something extremely uncommon in many traditions, but honestly, I think it makes sense.

We know Obanai has so many negative feelings about himself and his family, especially when it comes to their relationship with the snake demon and their greed/selfishness. He views himself as being tainted by the blood he shares with his family and someone who doesn't deserve the chance he got to live when so many of his relatives were killed as a result of his escape.

So, wouldn't it make sense that when he found himself ready to pursue a serious relationship, if marriage were ever brought up, Obanai would be 100% open to taking a new last name?

It would be symbolic of him finally leaving his past behind him, seeing himself as more than the blood and biological family he grew up with. A major step toward being reborn as someone (in his mind) worthy of love. A chance to live the life he didn't get to before.

And knowing Mitsuri, who has an incredibly loving family and would do whatever it takes to help Obanai see that he is more than his past and negative perceptions of self, she would be fully supportive of him and whatever will help him to heal. Dare I say, I think she would most definitely suggest it if the topic ever came up.

Overall, I just really really love this idea! And I think it fits with ObaMitsu so well! <3

With the anime adaptation of the Hashira Training Arc fast approaching, I wanna reveal to you all my plans for that arc in Scattered Embers and Broken Hearts. Which came to me last night.

Now, it is up for change, especially since I'm on the fence of if a Hashira is gonna have an existential crisis for Kyojurou to assist with. And if so, is it gonna be Yuichirou or Sabito?

But, here's my current plan:

Basic Physical Training -> Makio, Suma, and Hinatsuru

Hellish Flexibility -> Inosuke

High Speed Movement -> Zenitsu

Swordsmanship -> Yuichirou and Nezuko

Infinite Strikes -> Sabito

Strength -> Sayo and Genya

Yes, I had to double up on a couple. Again, possible existential crises may alter the roster.

Yeah, pretty much. Something about Haganezuka is just screaming to run when he's mad. Probably he fact he can keep up with an average Demon Slayer without using Breath Styles or breaking a sweat. I, too, would book it in the opposite direction.

Yes, it's because Muzan knows at least Tanjirou is aware of where the Blue Spider Lily is. And now I'm imagining a more humourous version of the hijinks.

Kokushibo, fighting Nezuko while everyone else is sewing themselves back together: Where is the Blue Spider Lily, child?

So, something I've been wondering for a while.

If the KnY series were to have found a way to utilize the concept of the blue spider lily more, what would it be?

As of right now, this is the only information available regarding the flower:

It was believed to have been used in the medicine given to Muzan that turned him into a demon.

Muzan believed that it was the key to helping him conquer the sun.

The flower only blooms for two or three days in daylight a year (which was why Muzan and his demons were never able to find it).

Many of these flowers bloomed where Yoriich buried his wife, Uta, back in the Sengoku Era

Kie Kamado apparently knew where the flowers grew, and even showed Tanjiro when they were blooming when he was younger.

Aoba Hashibira would do research on the flowers centuries later, but made a mistake that caused the speciemens he collected to die.

Besides this, I don't think there's much mention of them again. Not even during the Hashira Training/Infinity Castle Arcs, which I was a bit disappointed about.

I suppose I can understand if the series meant for this to be one element of the story that remained a mystery (which is honestly okay, as I'm sure there's many shows and books that might have something like this). After all, having everything explained in the series doesn't leave a lot for the fandom to explore and theorize about in-between seasons and long after they've ended.

But...I don't know, I don't hear much about this particular element of the manga/anime talked about a lot.

(I think I heard people say something about Kie feeding her kids the flower or something too? But I wasn't able to find the source of this. Is this true?)

I'm genuinely curious if people have ideas on how it could have been integrated more into the series (or even used as an effective element to add to the story). Or if they have theories/thoughts about it.

So what do you guys think?

No Context Manga Note Quotes

So, to best prepare for writing the manga arcs of Demon Slayer(mostly in Sunlit Blossoms), I purchased volumes 15-23, and made some notes to have a general idea of what's supposed to be going on. Here are some quotes from my notes, which I am reading backwards!

Of course, Manga Spoilers ahead. A lot of 'em.

"Tanjirou wakes up demonic and ready for war crimes..."

"... Evil Sunshine Boy who's clearly prepared to rip their head off and eat their internal organs."

"Oh, yeah, the sun's still in the sky and demons still burn up in its vengeful rays, and Tanjirou starts getting crispy before he can kill someone."

Not directly backwards, but these are some of my favourite quotes from the Volume 15-23 notes I took for the Demon Slayer manga.

It's not even every note I took. Some were very straightforward, others had humour to them.
