tbh we need to start holding all drivers responsible for the shit they say, not just the ones we don't like (looking at you people who conveniently categorise nico h./checo as the Problematic Ones™ in order to ignore sexist/otherwise bigoted comments made by other drivers)
f1 is unfortunately an Ultra Male Big Oil Sport currently and if we start cancelling outright we'd have no one fucking left lmao. the bar is soooo fucking low u guys. your faves are not exempt actually. it's possible to simultaneous be a fan and be critical!!! have some self-respect!! have some integrity!!!

i redesigned this shirt and now you can put it on your body
here it is, the final culmination of my fun cool graphic design project where i replace cities with 8balls!! If you want to follow along the process you can check out these posts: one, two, and three :D
if you are interested in wearing this as a shirt i made a teepublic! you can also download the files from google drive if you would like to print the design yourself
thanks for following along!! i have really had a lot of fun doing this (and just following 2our in general, the vibes were sweet) and i'm glad other people enjoyed it too :)

El and Lucas the Max Protectors™
a lot of people seem to hc Max as really protective, and I get it because that comes standard with the type of character that Max almost is. but Max is not protective. she's emotionally protective, she's physically supportive, but she's not physically protective. in a moment of danger you never see Max stepping out in front - you see her at the back of the group. and she never has a bruised ego about it. she never insists she doesn't need stupid boys to protect her and she never does the "ohh thank u kind sir lmaooo" thing with Lucas after the danger has passed.
I'm here to tell you that while Max might not readily admit to it, she likes to be protected. loves to be protected. not in a damsel way; we've seen her get out of some horrible situations on her own. she never really expects or seeks it out, but her friends just do protect her without her having to ask, and it means so much to her. because Max has felt unprotected all her life, and she craves it. can she even remember a time when she felt totally safe in her own home? she lives with two abusers and I can't imagine Max seeing her mother as any kind of of protector, after putting her in that situation. Max hasn't had anyone make her feel safe in a long time.
so I love that while Max is capable of taking care of herself, when something scary happens, you can find her unapologetically peeking out from behind that nerd boy and his little slingshot, the one who she made fun of for screaming like a little girl. I love that it seems like Max's character would be the one protective of her abused ingenue bff, but she's the one always standing back with awe while El bodily shields her from monster after monster. I think being protected like that makes Max feel very loved.
Bonus: El's protection means so much to Max that the literal last act of her life is to try to reciprocate and try to protect El when she needs it. i'm done, do not speak to me

Was relistening to Death at the Gas Station tonight while sewing, and something caught my attention: what do you guys make of the fact that Jack tells 'Death' that Carlos isn't dead when Antonio pretty decidedly is?
Maybe I'm overthinking it, esp when Jack mentions in. What, book 2? That if he wants to keep posting stories on the blog, he just has to change a couple of details enough for them to fly, but even if that's the in-universe explanation, it just sort of feels like a strange detail to change.

Ya know, I've been seeing a lot of stuff for the hc of Zim and Dib as found family lately, and something about it was actually bugging me a bit. Like, I really like zade, zadf, and zadr, and I just couldn't understand why I couldn't really get behind zads.
And then I realized it's ENTIRELY because of Professor Membrane.
I do not like the idea of Zim being absorbed into the Membrane family dynamic, because in the show (the IZ source I'm most familiar with) Professor Membrane is a really shitty parent, and there is nothing satisfying to me about Zim just hanging out at that house with Dib and Gaz, adding another sibling to an already fairly miserable household situation. Sure, they can support each other. But what is the point of keeping them stifled in that environment if Membrane is not present and being a parent?
BUT, consider the alternative: Dib and Gaz saying 'fuck this shit I'm out', and spending more time with Zim at his base. Eventually they just go off on space adventures or something because why not? Found family in space! No shitty dad! Maybe if you reeeeally want a parental figure, you could throw in a dash of the dad-nar hc in there for some extra spice. And THEN you could have Zim deal with his feelings about HIS 'parental' figures. If Lard Nar starts being a real dad to this group of ragamuffins, how does that reframe the way Zim feels about the Tallest? How does Dib feel about the fact that an alien could (most likely) be a better dad than his own father? How do the two of them react to getting positive attention they've never received from a parental figure before?
And when I started thinking of it that way, I saw the potential. I still don't think it's my favorite. I think I definitely enjoy more room for flexibility and ambiguity with Zim and Dib, and making them view each other as siblings almost boxes them into that role a bit. But I can see the potential for a really interesting story there!
Provided Membrane is out of the picture.

roundabout being the yes pick for best 70s song feels whack. like I know it's because of jojo but I'm still kind of surprised it's not something off the yes album
like okay, my dad's favorite yes album from the era is fragile (I believe his absolute faves are the ones in the trevor rabin era), so from a sample size of two it's understandable to pull from there. it's a good, solid album.
but personally I think the folksier angle a lot of the yes album goes for is probably more accessible and probably a better pull for a "best 70s song" kind of poll. like if you reach for a 70s yes song everyone can agree on you get like, starship trooper or yours is no disgrace
well, and then on the other hand, I really like relayer, man. the gates of delirium is probably like my single favorite yes song, and sound chaser is a close second. but no fuckin way are either of those songs good in the way a "best 70s song" contender would have to be.

salutations. would you like to explain the deal wktb the moth and compass guys they look very polite
moth and compass! the project I've been working on with @natdrinkstea this year-and-some!!
I believe I've introduced our dramatis personae — Moth, an Inquisitive Young Protagonist; Goodfellow, a Ghost; Luna, a Lighthouse-Keeper; and Peregrine, an Ordinary Cat — a few times before, but I still don't think we've every really talked about the story!
and that is because it has taken. quite some time to actually figure out what Goeth On in moth and compass proper. it's a mystery-fantasy, that'll probably be best told as a scrapbook or a puzzle game or a thing along those lines*, and a somewhat purposefully-nostalgic ghost story. it's everyday magic and the haunted sea and learning to look beyond what you think is there and bubblegum pop road trips and creepy creatures in the shadows and the kind of navigational equipment that, if you use it just right, might take you places you'd never otherwise be able to see...
