⚍Headcanon - Areas He Shines⚎

  Despite what some may say about his behavior, Lan Jingyi is one of the most studious and earnest disciples in Cloud Recesses. His desire to follow in his late father’s footsteps and his immense and sometimes fanboyish respect for Hanguang-Jun leaves little room for error in his mind, and he strives to be the best he can be as to not disappoint anyone or make things needlessly hard for the sect that raised him.

  His sword skills are impressive for his age, as is his upper-body strength (there is much to be said for being forced to do handstands frequently through his childhood). He knows the Lan sect rules better than most, despite his propensity for breaking them, which is more due to his innate nature than any malicious intent on his part.

  Despite the simple and sometimes medicinal nature of the culinary situation of Cloud Recesses, Lan Jingyi fancies himself a connoisseur of fine foods, often found to critique a restaurant’s dishes (a bit too loudly) in comparison to his mother’s skilled cooking. This has not resulted to any physical fights to date, but much of that is thank to Sizhui’s skills in diplomacy. 

  His laughter is infectious and he is quite good at spreading joy to those around him, though as he’s grown older some of this boyish joviality has faded to a more serious and sometimes sarcastic countenance. Still, there are not many in Cloud Recesses who would not call Jingyi a friend.

⚍Headcanon - Areas He Struggles⚎

  From a young age Lan Jingyi has suffered from a bit of an inferiority complex. Of the two families into which he was born, Lan and Zhao, he inherited more of his mother’s traits — a big mouth and a voracious appetite. When his father Lan Qishu passed away in defense of Cloud Recesses, the sect took the young boy in as a way to ease the tribulations of his mother as well as to honor Lan Qishu’s wish to see his son become a proud member of the inner family. Jingyi struggled from the beginning with his behavior, managing the volume of his voice and his over-excitable nature, and was often the target of many disciplinary measures and whispers from his fellow trainees. This was understandably a curse in some ways, feeling as though he was being a dishonor to his family and sect, and Jingyi struggles even to this day to see the greater blessings that came of it regardless: his strength and tenacity earned him the admiration of his peers and elders, and he has quite an impressive skill set to show for it. 

  While he excels in the sword arts, his guqin skills leave much to be desired — he’s never had much of an ear for music, despite the efforts of his teachers. While he’s learned to control himself some as he’s grown older, he’s still prone to being loud when he gets excited, and using inappropriate language that he picks up in visits with his mother and friends outside of Cloud Recesses. 

  Though friendly with others as a child and possessing the outward appearance that he was confident and easy to get along with, in truth there were very few that saw the real inner workings of a child wracked by frustration and loss. As he grew older this became more clear as he closed himself off more and was prone to irritable outbursts and tears until Zewu-Jun intervened and helped him regain his center, and in addition to that finding a true and trustworthy companion in Hanguang-Jun’s adopted son, Lan Sizhui. 

  Jingyi can be abrasively blunt, another fine trait from his mother, and often relies on his good friend Sizhui to smooth things over for him. It is because of this that the elders of Cloud Recesses are hesitant to send the boy anywhere without his companion — not that Jingyi would allow it anyway.

I love Charlotte and Henry and they're super underrated. And I would VERY MUCH like to hear the headcanons whirring about in your brain.

Oh well buckle up cause literally all I think about is head cannons. Like, you know how cells replace themselves every few years? Mine have replaced themselves with head cannons. *Sorry it took me a hot moment to answer this ask, I was busy howling into my pillow whenever I tried to articulate thoughts.*

First of all, they’re very cuddly. They basically sleep on top of each other (Charlotte hasn’t needed a pillow in decades). Henry cant sleep well without Charlotte in his arms and Charlotte can’t sleep well anywhere other than Henry’s arms so it works out. Plus, they both do that thing where they jerk awake like the world is ending and scare the shit out of each other, so sleeping in a hug that basically pins them both down saves some energy at 2am. Henry’s perpetually cold and sleeps under like, four blankets, so Charlotte just wears summer nightgowns all year and wraps herself around Henry like a koala.

Naturally there’s an angsty side to the incessant cuddling because that’s just the way I role.

Charlotte sleeps with her head on Henry’s chest so she can always feel him breathing because, by the angel, she remembers when he wasn’t. She sleeps with a hand on his pulse point because she wakes up in the middle of the night and she’s still half asleep they might as well be on the floor in that mountain and she might as well still be desperately swearing she didn’t imagine his heartbeat.

While on the topic of soul crushing feelings of guilt, y’all remember from Clockwork Angel that Henry was the one who told Mortmain what a Pyxis was? And he wanted Charlotte to tell the clave that and she wouldn’t because “they already treat him so badly”? Because I do. And so does Henry.

(I’ve got a whole WIP that I love very dearly about this head cannon and this chess game hehe) There’s one random old tutor who goes to the London institute once a month-ish, basically to hand out a few weeks of homework to any shadow hunters who don’t have their own tutors. Most shadow hunters who live in a more rural area show up a few times a year so the clave knows they’re alive and at least somewhat literate. Charlotte attends them every month since, you know, she lives there, but Henry lives somewhere around Yorkshire so he shows up every few months. The professor is kind of a dick ngl. He doesn’t help Charlotte with any school why would a woman need to be so well educated? “Go on find a husband and stop worrying you’re pretty little head” sort of shit. Henry drives him insane because he’s a) some random kid who’s smarter than him and b) didn’t use any of the professors materials to get that smart. Professor Douche is constantly trying to get him to be wrong about something, or at least flustered about something and he doesnt ever do either of those things, and even more aggravating he refuses to get upset. (He honestly just assumed the professor wasn’t that smart.)

Charlotte’s a really good student of course, but she’s having a shit time with some mathematics and the professor absolutely refuses to help her with it. Eventually she asks Henry if he wouldn’t mind helping her with it, which he’s happy to do (once he figures out that’s what shes actually asking lol.)

Charlotte is incredibly distracted the entire time by Henry’s freckles (and eyes. And hands. And the way his hair curls on the nape of his neck. And the spots of gold and green in his hazel eyes that flashed as bright as the sun when the light catches them. And-), but they get through it in an hour or two which leaves them alone in a deserted wing of the institute. They end up playing a game chess. Charlottes a decent player and thought since Henry had never showed any interest in chess it would be a probably be an evenly matched game. She didn’t know what hit her. He beat her in like, eight minutes, eighty percent of which were spent on the last two moves by Charlotte who, upon realizing she was fucked, spent five minutes staring at the board trying to figure out when he even started beating her. She was sitting there having a whole crisis, (she’d been distracted by a man who probably doesn’t like her, and certainly doesn’t think much of her now after a pathetic loss like that and now she’ll have to sit hear and wallow in failure-) just preparing for him to start that whole smug gloating thing men do when they win and Henry you know. Didn’t. He just put the pieces away and thanked her for the game, in that very genuine way, with the gloomy London evening light casting a depressing shadow across the room, a shadow that he stood out against all gentle, kind, bright and brimming with a sort of barely contained passion. If Charlotte had ever doubted that shadow hunters had come from straight angels then sitting there, looking at a boy stained in soot, who she loved more than anything else to walk the earth, she would never doubt it again.

(It wasn’t until after Henry won and noticed Charlotte hadn’t said anything in a while that he remember people don’t like losing. Honestly he was playing just to be around her and he would have thrown the game if he could conceptualize how to do that on the fly. They spent like five minutes in autistic silence waiting for the other to stand up and declare newfound hatred.)

In true British fashion the a modern tea bag would kill them both.

When they were both 13 or 14 Charlotte mentioned she was dreading winter because it’s so bleak and dark (and her mom had died a few winters before, though she didn’t drop that in casual conversation). Anyways, come winter Henry brought her a marigold preserved in something like resin. She kept it in her jewelry box for years and after they got married she found out he had literally dozens of them. Whenever he came across a particularly bright flower he preserved it and set it aside. He was never quite brave enough to give them to her pre-TID, but he now leaves them for her when she’s particularly sad or stressed. She keeps them all in a drawer- they fit together like little tiles, and still look as fresh as they would had they just been plucked from the ground.

Somewhat surprisingly Henry doesn’t really lose stuff, with the singular exception being his own medical equipment. He’s lost the leg braces he wears every single day of his life before. Charlotte’s not usually speechless but she wasn’t sure what to say to that one.

Henry gave Charlotte a watch with a hands and numbers that can glow the same way a modern day one would. It’s absolutely beautiful, durable and accurate, even if Henry set himself on fire at least four times making it. (They can say with confidence that that watch is fireproof)

Honestly, I could go on and on, then on some more, but technically I’m supposed to be writing a paper on gut micro biomes that’s due tomorrow, so I figured I’d cut myself of. In conclusion, I love them dearly, they love each-other dearly, they deserve the world, all I can think about is them, and the world can pry them out of my cold dead hands.

────────────────── in the earlier years of hell, specifically when Morningstar crashed into the earth and was the first fallen angel, the seven deadly sins fell shortly after along with him. Ozzie bore witness to Lucifer falling.

Upon witnessing Lucifer's fall, Ozzie's wings were ripped from his back and he was next: falling down, down, down until finally crashing into the earth. In that state of dreary disorientation, Ozzie was still made to fend off wayward Exorcists who followed him down to do as much damage to him as possible when he was already struck and bleeding out. Surviving the attacks, Ozzie — who was one of Lucifer's best friends — immediately sought after the fallen angel. But it was to no avail.

Thankfully, Ozzie's search for Lucifer doesn't end in vain — for instead, Bee was one of the other deadly sins he'd rediscovered. Dazed and spent, the two stuck together ever since and developed an even tighter bond. Ozzie found Mammon not too long after finding Bee. They faced the discomfort of their Sins together, the changes they didn't suffer utterly alone. Still, Ozzie — who knew these individuals pre-fall and what traits they possessed in heaven had now amplified in hell and worsened over time. Ozzie had the displeasure of watching certain Sins change for the worst and some, he was luckily willing or able to tolerate. It couldn't be helped with the Deadly Sins as it was what they all became in the end. Worse versions of their sins. Embodiments.

Centuries passed. Broken bones have long since healed and massive scars webbed where massive gashes once bled the blues. Across his back and alongside his ribs, healed but never forgotten nor forgiven. All this time long since passed with no trace or word from Lucifer despite Ozzie's attempts to reconnect. Answers weren't clear, questions have gone unanswered and are long gone. Resentment has taken its rightful place yet Ozzie still holds out for a call.

The years roll by. That resentment Ozzie harbors within his heart remains frigid and intact in present day and growing stronger, especially when news of a princess being conceived had broken out. Ozzie is familiar with Lilith and Charlie. In fact, Lilith has even gone out of her way to visit him. A proper introduction between Hell's Queen and one of her Seven Deadly Sins.

It was Lilith who introduced him to Charlie. And it was Lilith who somewhat smoothed the fabric of Ozzie's resentment. Although his feelings about everything are certainly not resolved, he respects Lilith significantly and in that, has found a fondness for the princess alike. He (jokingly) took on the unofficial role of an "uncle" as he would be entrusted by Lilith to look after Charlie from time to time. It's because of this, does he know Charlie a little better than the other Sins.

Upon Lilith vanishing, however, Ozzie is reminded of Lucifer. Ozzie still found himself looking after Charlie from time to time but the effort was exhausting. Moreso emotionally than mentally. Even still, Ozzie couldn't recall seeing Lucifer again. Even in times where he'd be left looking after her. It's a sore memory and every time Charlie is sent back home, Ozzie is left even more sore than the last time. The older the Princess became, the less she came around.

Now, Ozzie spends his time living as the Sin he is. Despite a hollow past, he's "moved on" to better things. But it'd be a lie if Ozzie said he never looked back and wondered, never made haphazard attempts to contact with still, no answers. Forgotten or neglected, whatever the case — Ozzie still became a respected Sin and lives vibrantly in his ring as the King of Lust. He could live even more vibrantly if an old friend would answer Ozzie's long-abandoned pleas.

Hm…

Don’t have anything solid at the moment, but according to random notes I’ve made:

- Adam is even more of a workaholic. Collapsing at the work station from stress and lack of sleep isn’t an uncommon occurrence. Heck, he pretty much sleeps and work in his lab.

- He idolises Dr Morocco to a rather unhealthy degree, mainly due to him being the only other living being he somehow have proper contact with. Outside of maybe doing things like shopping for necessities, but even then keeps more to himself.

- In his fabricated memory/past, he vaguely remembers having siblings and possibly a parent figure, but then he got adopted.

- As for Dr Morocco, he initially only wanted to use Adam as a pawn, but started to grow somewhat fond of him (much to his dismay). Not a lot though. The two’s relationship is still very cold and lack emotions.

- ‘Gram’ underwent many sessions of memory wipe and brainwashing over long periods of time, so it would be very difficult to recover his real past memories, and impossible for all of it to come back.

- The fabricated reason for Adam being knowledgeable in engineering is having attended college and graduated on the top of his class. All thanks to (and funded) by Dr Morocco, of course.

- He’s even more socially awkward, but still relatively polite. However, he tends to get lost in his own head quite often, comes off as aloof, if not meek. Has a higher tendency to become anxious and snappy, unless it’s towards Dr Morocco.

- Surprisingly, he does still attempt to keep himself physically fit, usually via self-improvised equipments.

- When working with machinery, he at least practices some form of lab safety and either ties his hair up or wears an alice-band.

Not to be a weirdo but if you are required to see a play for a class many theaters will be pretty nice about it and may let you in for no charge or like, a steep steep discount as long as you aren’t popping into a $200 a seat Broadway musical tour. You might even get a tour. Many of us have been broke college kids required to see a show they can’t afford before.

The ticket prices aren't bad actually, they're only 10-20$. Worst case scenario I'll dip into my savings or ask a friend to spot me for the ticket and then pay them back when I can. I meant it more for emphasis on how broke I am at the moment, lol

I feel so horrible

#last evening i spilled tea it was obv an accident but i should have been more careful it was through a too careless action #some spilled on the book i got from the library. i thought that was the worst part #a bit spilled on my laptop. very little. while i was busy with the book my mom wiped my laptop #my brother immediately turned it off & told me to keep it upside down overnight #so i put it upside down. for hours. at least 4. before that i picked it up to look i could still see the water #but my laptop reacted to me picking it up & showed the battery percentage on the screen like it does #i didnt do anything else and put it back upside down. so again later i picked it up to check #it look dry. this time it didnt react to my ''touch'' to me picking it up #i didnt think anything. i wanted to do something on my laptop and tried powering it on. idk if that was a mistake or not #but it didnt react. the night is over it's almost noon it's still not turning on. it's been in rice the whole night #but honestly i dont even know if that actually helps. i know it's a popular method but idk #my brother works in IT he knows computers he said he'd unscrew & remove the storage disk to be safe #and to call someone they know who repairs computers. neither of these things happened yet bc we dont have the right screw #my brother i believe asked the neighbor #i'm not really hopeful. i've slept 4 hours last night bc i was so worried i couldnt sleep #went to sleep at 3 woke up at 7 couldnt sleep again #i said i'm not hopeful but one thing about me i never think bad things like this could happen to me so there's always this #''it's not real this isnt happening'' in me. i wish it wasnt bc if it turns out to be real it devastates me #i feel i get swayed so easily by things going wrong. it just immobilizes me #it happened when my luggage got lost. i was completely scatter brained fully gone when it happened #i was staying at my aunt's place. she poked fun at me for how much it affected me. said i have euros i could raplace my clothes #i spent four days this way. i was there to see a friend. i felt i was robbed from truly having a good time. it was our first time meeting #i cried every single day. called the airport lost & found every single day. this one thing occupied my whole being #i got my luggage back but what i'm getting at is for one i actually got it back so it wasnt a real bad thing that happened. it got fixed #and two it just had me in its clutches this one incident. so now my laptop wont turn on i cant think of anything else #cant do anything else. and although it looks real and i DONT want to be hopeful so i can let go and not be devastated when i find out #it's irreparable. idk where i'm getting at with this. except idk i really really really want it to work again #nesi rants

Had a very nice dream/day dream (no sleeping was done, but meh, resting your eyes is good enough) about what would´ve happened if Albus hadn´t given up in life after the Colonel stuff. 

Waking up in a hospital bed, handcuffed on his ankles to the hand rails because he was a suspect from murder and theft, but after interrogations and spending time in the hospital it was deemed he was not the perpetrator at all. 

A 16 yo Albus being so done with dealing with everything alone, but hating the system that didn´t save them earlier giving him a chance now to be put into a foster home. 

The foster home was Sann´s. A 17 yo Santiago meets a 16 yo, freshly traumatized Albus and chooses to try being friends with him. It´s not that difficult, but Al keeps pushing him away as well as his whole family. 

It isn´t because he doesn´t want to be friends or they mistreat him, Al is so shocked he is actually being treated so well and they´re so friendly and understanding. He´s so grateful, but there´s that bitterness of why it couldn´t happen before everything went to hell? Why couldn´t this happen when Annie was alive? 

And a big happy family like Santiago´s aren´t people who would understand what he has been through. So he still feels like he can´t open up to them. 

Santiago and Mateo (Sann´s younger brother) still try tho. Mateo gives up after a while, but Santi is persistent.

He tries to eat with him at school, strike conversation, take him places and even share his love for space. But the boy´s response is half hearted.

Santi´s about to give up when he hears he didn´t come home after school one day. Apparently some man had walked up to him before the boy stormed out screaming bloody murder.

Apparently it was his father demanding a reason to why he wasn´t told about his daughter´s death. Santi doesn´t know much about his past beyond what he has been told, but it isn´t much and his parents won´t tell him much either. He only knows that idiot isolated himself again and that´s something he can´t allow. 

By then he knows a bit more about him and so he knows where to find him. 

The art classroom at school is like his sanctuary. He has paint all over him when he finds him entranced into this one painting. 

He tells him he didn´t know it was so late already, but Santi is no fool and only gives him a knowing look. 

“Do you wanna talk about it?”

“No” he begins to clean up his brushes. 

Santi allows that, but when they´re walking back home, he pushes Al into a different bus that takes them to the sea. He hears Santi´s mother on the phone when he tells her he´s taking him to the sea and yells at them to use sunscreen. Santi even takes out a special protection one for Al. (He would definitely had gotten glasses with them the second he stepped into their house) 

Maybe by that moment, his legs still hasn´t healed completely so even when swimming is not possible and neither is playing some soccer, Santi finds a game they can play together. 

After a while, they move on to trying out teaching Al how to swim and Santi laughs his ass off at him when he can only manage to look like a wet puppy. He offers going together to his swim club then. He is quick to tell him it doesn´t matter if he uses an special swimsuit to hide his scars, the coach will understand and if he doesn´t he will kick his ass personally. 

They go back after a few more hours, the bridge of their noses and their shoulders burnt so bad Santi´s mother tells them this served them well as reminder to use the damn sunscreen. 

Al can´t help but melt into tears when Santi´s mother calls him to also apply some cream into his face and shoulders. He was so scared and sure they would get hit, having gentle hands rubbing circles on his burnt shoulders is so...nostalgic. 

That night Santi is trying to marshall himself in order to not scratch his back off when he hears a tiny “Santi?” coming from the bed below his. 

“Mhm?” 

“Thank you”

Santi is glad he kept trying.
