Bruno Hernando and Jorge
So I know I'm new here and you all have probably figured this out already, but I was doing research into name meanings (as one does, of course) and this delighted me:
Bruno - derived from the Germanic 'brun' meaning 'armor/protection' or 'brown'. I know his name was changed from Oscar because of the song...but...still. Armor. Protection. Patching those cracks, looking out for his lil niece like the All Around Good Guy that he is.
Hernando - from 'Ferdinando', the Medieval Spanish form of a Germanic name from two words meaning 'journey' and 'daring/brave'. Hernando is afraid of nothing.
Jorge - derived from the Greek name Georgios, meaning 'farmer/earthworker'. He is Jorge. He makes the spackle. From the earth.

In “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” you see the past memory of Bruno approaching Pepa looking all sinister with his cloak pulled down:
Tumblr media
Then later when Mirabel meets him, he pulls his hood down nervously.  “I’m Hernando, and I’m scared of nothing!”
So that whole sinister cloak thing?  It was a weird nervous habit.  He was probably getting more and more discouraged with people only remembering the worst of his visions.  He was probably afraid to approach people with anything resembling “bad news.”  So he pulls his hood down over his face to try to work up some courage, and everyone remembers it as him being creepy.

Bruno, Jorge, and Hernando Headcanons
My girlfriend @acrylicqueen and I are obsessed with everything Bruno right now so I'm subjecting everyone to our headcanons about him and our favorite crack-patcher and spackle maker.
Bruno
Tumblr media
- After the events of the movie he's slowly readjusting to life as part of the family again, and finding his place in Casita/Encanto once more. He's still reserved and a bit quiet when around groups/others, but everyone is getting used to his presence again.
- Bruno's room in the walls of Casita still exists, and sometimes he returns there/hangs out in there when he's overwhelmed and wants to go somewhere "safe."
- Bruno sometimes has short, random, involuntary visions. These can happen anywhere and at anytime. During these visions he can't see anything around him, only able to see his vision, but he can still feel and hear things around him.
- Bruno gets nosebleeds every time he has visions.
- If he pushes himself too far while having a vision, he tends to pass out and is very weak afterwards.
- He also tends to have panic attacks when he has visions - the involuntary ones trigger them more than intended visions do, as he has no way to prepare for them/for what he's seeing.
- He sometimes tries to suppress his visions, which causes him a lot of pain and stress and anxiety. This usually leaves him with a terrible migraine, curled up somewhere while crying.
- Bruno likes acting out stories and telenovelas for his family - Dolores and Pepa are particularly invested in the stories.
- Bruno created Jorge and Hernando before he'd gone to live in the walls - they were created to embody personality traits he wished he had, as he feels incredibly insecure about himself. They manifested into physical "characters" so he would feel less lonely in the walls, as well as being able to act like these types of characters he himself feels like he couldn't be.
- He continues to switch between and act like these characters even after becoming part of the family again. He likes them, and so does the family.
Hernando
Tumblr media
- Hernando was created to be the brave, confident personality that Bruno wished he could be. Where Bruno felt skittish, shy, and...well, not brave, Hernando was the opposite. Brave, confident, cocky, a total 180 from how Bruno felt normally.
- Hernando never takes the hood off. Don't try. (Bruno has a hard time staying in character without their signature head covering - hence why Hernando doesn't take the hood off.)
- Despite this, Bruno's face DOES change when he's Hernando - his expression is much more confident and cocky beneath his hood. No one gets to see that though.
- Sometimes Bruno switches to Hernando when he's struggling or too nervous/scared to put his thoughts into words.
- Hernando likes to flirt and fluster his partner. :)
Jorge
Tumblr media
- Jorge was created to be a much more chill, laid back, and unbothered. While Bruno was constantly on edge and worried about the future, and just anxious in general, Jorge goes with the flow and doesn't stress about things. Whatever happens happens, and he can't do anything about it.
- He's very curt when he speaks. He just doesn't have a lot to say and is a man of few words. Very serious.
- He's also a big sweetheart.
- Do not remove the bucket.
- He makes the spackle.

Buckethead
A/N: Kamusta! This is my first ever fanfic I've ever written, so apologies if there are any mistakes and/or typos. This was requested by @sammyholins based my first encanto drawing here, so congrats on being my first requester! This was actually real fun to do and I got this done way faster than I expected lol. Enjoy!
Warnings: Tickle fic, my shitty jokes
Overall Summary: Bruno was being goofy with Mirabel earlier, and gets himself into a funny situation ( haha buckethead go brr ). Julieta helps him out, but he's due for some retaliation for disturbing her.

____________________________
A loud 'bang'.
"Aye!"
Another two followed.
"Ack! Dang it!"
A hand finally found the wall making the side of the doorway, and gripped it tightly. Bruno sighed loudly with relief and noticed the familiar scent of arepas being cooked in the room. He'd gotten himself into quite a situation, and needed some assistance.
"Julieta? You in here? I need your help with uh, something."
A 'hold on!' came from the room, as a few seconds went by before Julieta looked up to see him. The sizzling of the stove quieted down just a bit as the scent of the food lingered a little longer.
"What is it do you nee-"
Julieta let a very small, yet noticeable, snicker slip out as she attempted to muffle it, admittedly poorly, with her hand. She took another couple of seconds to compose herself, finding the situation hilarious.
Before her stood Bruno, with a rusty bucket stuck to his head as he himself tried to recompose after running into the wall multiple times with no current sight to guide him.
Apparently, he was being a little goofy with Mirabel with the whole 'Jorge make the spackle' while trying to fix a broken floor tile, and accidentally got his head stuck.
"Hohow did you-?"
"Help me! It's not that funny!"
"I would like to beg to differ."
"Julieta!"
"Alright alright, I'll help! You're going to have to tell me how you even got into that in the first place, though."
Julieta looked at the bucket for a moment to figure what to do. Her first move was to put a hand on the handle on the bucket, placed right under Bruno's chin. Her other hand went to the back of the bucket's inner rim, her hand brushing against his neck as she passed to reach it.
"Do you think we should ask Luis-ahAHahAh?!" Bruno let a surprised laugh escape his lips, the moment when her hands made contact with his neck, tickle like hell.
It instantly clicked for Julieta what she did, her smile slightly turning into a smirk. She decided to tease him a little before getting the bucket off.
"What's so funny?" she said.
"Nothing nothing-  just thought of something, a joke. Yeah! a joke." Bruno said, a quiver of embarrassment wavering his voice. Thank god the bucket hid his slight red-ish face.
"You sure? What joke? You seemed surprised."
"I'm sure!"
Julieta rolled her eyes with a smile. "Yeah, yeah." She gripped the bucket just a bit tighter, ready to free her hermano from this evil, metal embodiment of pure agony ( ooOooOoOo ). "Alright, on the count of three I need you to push the bucket up. Ready?" Bruno nodded. "One! Two! Three!"
Bruno pushed it upwards and Julieta pulled the same way. The bucket was a little more difficult to remove than she originally thought, using a little more force. Eventually it did come off, Bruno's hair at the top a complete mess and tangled.
Bruno's face light up a bit, his eyes squinted trying to adjust to the light in the room. "Gracìas! It was stuck on there a little for than I expected." He placed the bucket down on the floor beside him.
Julieta chuckled. "You're welcome, Bruno. Just try not to get yourself stuck in another situation like that, more specifically a bucket." A few moments of silence passed, then Julieta's head popped with an idea.
"You know, I was very busy making those arepas. I think you deserve a bit of retaliation for disturbing me." Her voice dripped with playfulness, her fingers wiggling in the air, threatening to strike at any second as she approached closer and closer each second.
Bruno was confused for just a moment, until he saw her hands raise in the air. His eyes widened in surprise and bolted out the kitchen faster than Sonic running away from his problems.
"Wait Wait WAIT! NohOho!" Bruno was already giggling in anticipation. Julieta caught up rather quickly, grabbing him by the wrist and going straight for it. She skittered her fingers under his arms, resulting in a loud squeal emitting from him.
"Kch-! WaHAhaIT! JULIETAHAHAahHa! IhihiT TIHIHICKLES!" He started bucking out his legs, despite standing. He slowly lowered to the floor, now kicking freely as Julieta followed after. Surprisingly, he didnt try to suppress his laughter this time.
Julieta sat down at his side and teased him, in turn making Bruno's face go a darker shade of red."I bet it does, you goof! I'm tickling you!" She slowed her hands, slowly lifting up his ruana, and started to hover them over Bruno's belly, waiting for a reaction.
And well, she did get one. He took a few seconds to take a breath, looking back at her hands wondering why she'd stopped, only to panic seeing where they were. Bruno tried reasoning with her, which of course was a failed attempt.
"Nohoho..Julieta please- Don't you dare..don't you daraERAAHAHAHAAAhAAA!" Julieta tricked her poor brother and dived down her head for a long, tickly raspberry right on his worst spot. Bruno's laughter jumped between loud belly laughter, to snorts, to squeals, and to sputtering, frantic giggles, all in ten seconds flat, in that order. She switched to shorter and faster raspberries all over his belly, her hands tickling his sides in the process. Bruno was quickly sent back into hysterics by this.
"Apologize for disturbing my cooking and I'll stop! Unless.. you dont want me too." Again, Julieta teased him, obviously not actually annoyed he'd asked her for help. The whole thing was just too funny to pass up, in her opinion.
"NOHOhaHAhahA! IHI WOHOHONOhOn'T!" Bruno didn't want it to stop, at least not yet. He was glad to be back and spending time with his family, especially his sister. He had missed them dearly, and this was fun anyways! Of course he wouldn't admit that.
Julieta shrugged, "Ah well, prepare yourself, hermano!" She once again prepped her head above his belly, sucking in a comedically huge breath. What made the difference and Bruno think twice was that she had her hands now hovering over his lower ribs, a second deathly spot. His sides were all not that bad, but his ribs and belly being a combo were sure to end in him screaming.
And it did.
"Any last words, Brunito?" Julieta asked.
Bruno replied, a bit of stubbornness staining it. "Still nohot sorry."
Julieta made an audibly offended gasp, took another breath in, and did the longest raspberry she'd ever striked on someone. Her fingers dug and wiggled between each of Bruno's ribs, occasionally tweaking one or two.
Bruno's throat let out a loud, scream of laughter, silent laughter soon following. He arched his back upwards, only leaning into her tickles. He had no idea what to do with his hands at the moment and resorted to just pulling up his hood quickly to cover his bright, red face.
As soon as he fell into silent laughter, Julieta slowed her tickling assault on him to let him breathe. Bruno's hair was an absolute mess and his face was beet red under his hood. She let him breathe for about a minute before asking him the original question.
"So, are you sorry now?"
Bruno took a couple of seconds to respond, his voice still residing in giggles. "Yeheahah..yeahhahh.."
His sister ruffled his hair, and stood up. Julieta offered him a hand, as he took it and got up as well.
"Come on, bucket head. I got some food if you're hungry."
Bruno shot her a glare for the nickname, proving not really effective considering he was laughing his arse off just a minute ago. The glare quickly faded as he noticed a smell in the air.
"Hey, uh, Julieta? Do you smell smoke?"
Julieta whaffed in the air for a few seconds, her eyes widening in shock.
"Ay Dios mío! Bruno! The arepas!"
They looked at each other in alarm, both darted towards the kitchen, following the scent of smoke.
Bruno called not too far from behind her, sarcastically yet actually questioning in his voice. "So what ever happened to me getting some arepas?"
"Bruno!"

PART 6 (I ask myself why I continue with this emotional torture) of this Encanto au! It's been decided! I'm calling it Flickering - since the candle slowly flickers out along with everyone's gift.
Now I realized I never went anywhere with Antonio's or Bruno's side well, this one plans to fix that.
Okay, so Mirabel asks Camilo to give Antonio a plushie right? And a letter to give to the rats. Instead of giving the letter to the rats, Antonio just packs up his, well, pack of animals and goes to visit his uncle who has apparently been living in the walls for longer than he has been alive. Bruno might look scary at first glance, but the perception is easily changed, and what kind of person that's good with small animals could be bad?
Bruno is a little anxious when this small child who he's only met once informally takes to inviting himself into his little hovel, but the kid did lend him space to help Mirabel. So he let's Antonio hang around.
The first time is jarring, Bruno -Jorge- is prepping more spackle (???) because the cracks haven't stopped growing within Casita, the old house feeling somewhat emptier than it should, when the poor man is frightened by the sight of an adolescent jaguar staring at him. Clutching his bucket tight as he stumbles into the wall, earning a reciprocated shriek and a crash of thunder from the other side. Antonio peeks his head over the jaguar's along with the rest of his feathered and furred companions.
"Sorry," the boy apologizes as Bruno presses a hand to his frantic heart. "We didn't mean to scare you, tio."
Bruno grimaces at the title but says nothing. It had been a long time since he heard it before Mirabel found him, it was a little upsetting that this is the first he's been called it by his youngest nephew.
"What, uh... what brings you, Tonito?" He asks instead.
The boy pulls a folded piece of paper out of his shirt and offers it to him. His eyes dark with a recognizable sadness that makes the man reluctant to take the letter.
But he does, if only to relieve his nephew of its apparent burden, and opens it carefully. A letter from Mirabel. How she was sorry about being unable to help the Miracle, about even though she embraced her sister and her sister's troubles it still wasn't good enough to Abuela. That Abuela believed she wasn't helping the Miracle but that she was the one hurting it, and their family, so she had decided to leave Casita. But Mirabel apologized most for not being able to bring Bruno home.
Bruno read it and reread it again, following every graceful curve of his niece's handwriting. The insides of Casita shook beneath their feet, he didn't have to look to know that another crack fractured the wall further. He shook his head, angry and disappointed but not with Mirabel, with himself from not being strong enough to help.
He looked up at Antonio and his animals, the boy stared at the cracks that scarred the wall with wide, frightened eyes. Bruno had to agree. It was scary.
He invites his nephew and the rest to his little hideout for some tea and whatever leftovers he could snatch from the kitchen.
After that, Antonio takes to visiting Bruno easily. Sometimes he helps patch the cracks, sometimes they watch and discuss the telenovelas, and sometimes he asks Bruno questions about before he left and Bruno would give the best fitting answer that a five-year-old should hear. Bruno absolutely refuses to look into Antonio's future, no budging out of simple fear.
Though when everyone's Gifts start flickering and Antonio can't understand his animal friends, they are all reasonably concerned. The rats are probably the calmest during these times, seeing as Bruno has spent years with them and they could distract the jaguar if need be to protect the humans.

I love that Encanto headcanon where Bruno created Hernando and Jorge in place of Pepa and Julieta so imma make a Fanfic about it.
Enjoy✨
__________
4 months in the walls
Bruno longed to go back home, but he can't. He had to do it to protect Mirabel. Besides, even if he did come back, what would he say? "Hey, sorry for being gone for a few months hope everything goes back to normal now haha."?
He was starting to spiral down into a pit of mixed emotions. sadnessangerinsanityLONELINESS-
He needed his hermanas, and his hermanas needed him.
Then he heard the walls cracking.
__________
1 year in the walls
"Sana sana colita de rana.." Bruno said as he patched up the walls. "..Dame un besito para hoy y mañana." He finished, putting down the scraper he used to fix up the cracks (at least to the best of his ability) and sat down on an old chair that Alma was planning to throw out.
He huffed out a tired but satisfied sigh. He decided that this was the best way to help la familia. After all, the cracks started appearing when he left.
He closes his eyes only for a moment, but bolts up when he suddenly hears something.
The cracks were reappearing again.
And they were getting goddamn bigger.
__________
3 years in the walls
Bruno was mxing up the spackle to fill in more cracks that have appeared in the walls. With a bucket on his head.
"I'm Jorge, I make the spackle.." he said in a low, funny voice. He finished mixing the spackle, removes the bucket on his head, and gets up. He looks at the crack on the walls that he was going to patch up and stares at it for a bit.
"Uhm- Bruno's too scared to go near that..." He says as he holds the bucket tightly before putting it on his head. "And Jorge cannot see where he should put the spackle!" He said in a funny voice, nervousness present in it. "Besides, even if I do fill it in it would just reappear.."
'... I wish Pepi was here... She would have known what to do..' Bruno thought. Just then, he thinks of something. 'I can never be as brave as Pepa, but what if...'
"W-well, if no one else can do it..." He said, slowly pulling his hood up. "Then... I, Hernando shall!" He said, slightly changing his voice at the last sentence, making it sound a bit more braver.
"Hernando" started patching up the walls. He figured that if Bruno's bad luck will only cause more cracks, maybe someone else can fix it for him.
__________
5 year's in the walls
".. but that's not all! She had the audacity to blame me for the death of her fish. Even though it was clear that she doesn't take good care of it!" Bruno said quietly as he paced around.
He pulls up his hood to portray Hernando, "You don't say! Oh if I ever see her, I'll give her a piece of my mind!" "Hernando" said.
Just then, he saw another crack appear.
Pulling down his hood and putting on the bucket to play "Jorge", he said, "That enough violent thinking today. I need to make the spackle!"
While he was making the filament, Bruno heard both of her hermanas outside the walls.
"How dare they!" Pepa screamed. "How dare they even say such a thing to mi bebe!"
"Pepa please, calm down." Julieta said trying to reason with her.
*BOOM*
Bruno could feel the cold winds and the sound of heavy rain falling.
He sighs as the two kept going back and forth.
But it was more of a longing sigh.
...
At least he has Hernando and Jorge.
__________
10 years in the walls
Bruno watches as his mama and his sobrina get into a heated fight.
"The cracks started with you."
'Thats not true' Bruno thought, his eyebrows furrowing.
"Bruno left because of you."
'I left to try and protect her." He thinks frowning.
"Luisa's loosing her powers, Isabela's out of control, because of you."
The more Alma spoke, the angrier Bruno got.
"I don't know why you weren't given a gift, but that is not an excuse to hurt the family!"
*cracks*
Bruno couldn't believe what he heard. Mirabel would never do such a thing!
He wished he could go out and Hernando and try to defend her.
He wished he could go out as Jorge and comfort her.
He just wished he could help.
"-Bruno didn't care about the family-"
Tears start falling down his face as the fight fades into the background.
Then the house starts falling.
Luckily or unlucky, he got out alive.
When he finds out that Mirabel disappeared, he "borrows" a horse at a nearby stable and sets off to find Mirabel.
After hours of looking, he found Mirabel and Alma outside the Encanto, by a river.
He tries defending sobrina, expecting the worse to come.
And then he gets hugged.
__________
1 week out the walls
He was home. He was part of the family again. He had his mama, hermanas, he had his sobrina and sobrinos with him again.
Oh sure, the house is in ruins, the shock of Bruno coming back is as fresh as ever, and the confusion of Luisa, Isabela, and Camilo lead to a bunch of questions, it was nice to be back home.
They were healing, slowly but surely.
And that was okay.
__________
Present day
There was no need for Hernando anymore. No need for him to threaten anyone that hurt Bruno, to be brave for him, and to have his back anymore. Hernando wasn't needed. Pepa was back and Bruno couldn't be happier.
Jorge didn't need to make the spackle to patch up the cracks that would happen time to time, he didn't have to comfort Bruno anymore. No need for Jorge, Julieta was with him now and Bruno was filled with joy.
But despite not being strong in the walls, Bruno knew that Hernando and Jorge didn't actually do anything. That he was actually strong on his own. That he did it, with or without his hermanas.
But Bruno was tired of being strong now.
He wants his hermanas- no. Needs his hermanas now.
Just as much as they need him.
__________
I know that this was crappy but it's a take it or leave it post.

Hernando, Jorge, and Bruno.
Past, Present, Future.
What if the reason why he chose Hernando to be scared of nothing was because of past trauma and seeing what others have gone through? What if Jorge making the spackle is like a grounding reference for the present? What if, besides obvious trauma and anxiety, Bruno's almost flighty behavior is because of how the future is fickle, because of how not everything is truly set in stone— like with the butterfly effect!
Seeing the past, I think Hernando's eyes should glow either red or gold. And the present for Jorge could be glowing white, since white let's you 'see' all the colors (think ROY-G-BIV). While green is canon for the future!
The head in the bucket would cover their eyes same with the hood! No one would be able to see if his eyes glow a different color or not!!
Honestly this came to me out of nowhere, I literally just woke up. I'm not even sure if I'm wording it right 😭 but I think I got the general idea written out?

Reacting to Encanto characters
Hello.
I have a current hyper fixation on Encanto and have been reflagging solely Encanto-based posts, instead of my usual Star Wars content. @skyguy2-electric-boogaloo, my kind friend, has noticed this anomaly (as well as my obsession with this movie) and since they haven't seen it yet (WHAT A SHAAAAME BABY WHAT A SHAME) they asked me to react to Encanto characters.
SO LET'S GOOOOOOOO
Abuela:
Tumblr media
(this image is literally killing me she looks so smug I can't)
Pepa Madrigal:
Tumblr media
Felix Madrigal:
Tumblr media
(guy on the left)
Julieta Madrigal:
Tumblr media
(MOMMY)
Augustin Madrigal:
Tumblr media
(yep this man I can't)
Bruno Madrigal:
Tumblr media
(nothing will be said about him. NOT A WORD)
Tumblr media
(he's scared of nothing)
Jorge:
Tumblr media
(#spackle maker for life bb)
Isabela Madrigal:
Tumblr media
(MATERIAL GWORL)
Luisa Madrigal:
Tumblr media
(I watched Encanto just for those biceps) (and then cried because there was more generational trauma than muscles BUT THAT'S THE SORY FOR ANOTHER TIME)
OKAY I'M MAKING ANOTHER POST NOT ENOUGH SPACE

"Tio what are you doing?" The boys eyes were wide as he looked at Bruno, his expression one of horror. He stood on a cushion, a second one in hand. "Don't you know the floor is lava!?" As if to prove his point he set the second cushion down, then jumped from it to the arm of the couch. "Hurry or you'll burn up!"
Bruno had to fight the smile coming to his face as he tried to look as terrified as possible. "I was so busy seeing the future I forgot to notice the present!" He cried out dramatically before leaping up onto the coffee table. "Where did all this lava come from?"
