Nancy Drew 1x12 "The Lady of Larkspur Lane"
A bit of a shorter review here. The highlight were the Ace x Carson scenes. Most of the plot development was leading up to next episode the iconic "Whisper Box"
THANK GOD ACE IS BACK.
Nancy is planning to go to Josh (Lucy’s half brother) to see if she can find some information about Lucy’s Mom. She learns that Lucy’s Mom is in an institution.
Bess is freaking out about her meeting with the “mentor” her aunt is setting her up with. She goes to her platanchor Ace for support who does disappoint “You are far above mediocre”.
Nick comes to George for some menu ideas.
George: “I thought you weren’t gonna get involved in the Claw?”
Nick: “I'm not, running the restaurant is your thing”.
Huh..I’m confused. From last episode I thought this was supposed to be a project for Nick that was his own?
They tell Nancy that Nick bought the Claw. It’s an awkward scene. George and Nick almost seem guilty? Nancy is like WTF is going on with you guys?!
Nancy asks them to help her break into the facility where Lucy’s Mom is. (Where are Bess and more importantly Ace?). They get in, through a room that looks more creepy and abandoned than it should. They split up but there’s no cell service so…that seems risky.
Bess meets with Amaya and it…goes awkwardly. Amaya treats her like eye candy and doesn’t really find her interesting until she gets caught up in the Ryan Hudson business. Bess uses her leverage as a Marvin and her new negotiation skills to get Ryan to get evidence that Carson’s life was in danger.
Carson gets threatened in prison and he knows that there is now a hit out on him. He tries calling Nancy but is only able to reach Ace. Ace tries to call Nancy but…no cell service. He has a plan though that’s gonna work great…unless it doesn’t. Ace goes to Ryan for help with Carson. Ryan tells him that the hit can’t be called off and that the only way to save Carson is to get Carson out of jail to save his life so…what does Ace do?
Ace breaking Carson out of jail and the subsequent shenanigans are comedic gold.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nancy meets an orderly who tells her that the institution is being haunted, which seems to explain the weird room (East Wing) the DrewCrew came through. Nancy learns these hauntings started the night of the séance. Nancy is able to find Lucy’s Mom. The interaction is odd. Lucy’s Mom talks about Lucy staying out all night and looking for trouble. She also refers to Nancy being “just like that other lady who gave me the key to Lucy’s secret. But no one will ever find it because I hid it. In the thin man’s book”. The orderly helps them figure out who the thin man is which requires Nancy going in a cursed room where people tend to end up dead? Doesn’t stop Nancy.
While she’s in the death room, George and Nick find out the orderly they’ve been talking to is actually a patient. But…there’s a fire drill so they are forced to evacuate.
Episode ends with Nancy waking up in bed and…her Mom is alive?
Tumblr media
Nick and George
“So, what can we do for seven minutes?” Subtle not subtle.
Nancy and Ace
“For Nancy’s sake and for yours, I can’t let that happen”. Ace hacked the federal prison database. He has already gotten in trouble for that and was only bailed out because McGinnis helped him. I truly think Ace would not have risked doing that again for anything less than helping Nancy save her father.
- Ace is true hero I ljust ove him
Random observations/Favorite lines
-”Excuse me sir, do you have a reservation?” “I have many, but I am here anyways”- THE LINE DELIVERY!!!
-Did Amaya call Ace a “tall jar of mayonnaise”?
-AcexCarson interactions are A plus
-”Can’t stand the chatty ones, man”
-“Your axe is huge, dude”
-”I went to archery camp I got great aim”
- I am 0% surprised that Nick is the one who recognizes the Bible verse.

My SamBucky No Powers AU Masterlist
So, I started this series of masterlists, since I’ve sort of been accruing a variety of fics lately. I thought it would be good to make one for my SamBucky No Powers AUs, the ones where it's the regular world with no heroes 🥰
Tumblr media
So, HERE IS THE LIST, BY LENGTH:
Tumblr media
1) The Only Thing That I Refuse to Forget (M, 17,543) - "Sam Wilson, head of a major digital vertical at the music magazine Shield, wants to make a month long event dedicated to the popstar Bucky Barnes; his current battle in the courts to get out of his contract with Hydra and his producer Zola as well as the complete one-eighty in Bucky's image and music once he took back agency over his career. But what happens when Sam starts to fall for the subject of his vertical?"
The Only Thing That I Refuse to Forget is a fun mixed media project about finding old love anew, about music, about not allowing the people who wronged you to make your life a living hell and to rebel by by finding happiness in spite of it all.
2) The Falcon Bird Cafe (M, 2,958) - The story about a the owner of a bird cafe falling for the new pâtissier at a the local desert place the cafe owner gets his baked goods from.
This was originally created for the WinterFalcon Week Anthology 2021 I made for the WinterFalcon Week 2021 hosted by the WinterFalcon Week tumblr. It's a fun mixed media Cafe AU about two cute guys and an entire town working together to get them on a date 🥰
3) I Can't Run in These Heels! (M, 1,397) - A story about ace teen detective, Sam Wilson, helping his latest client, the star quarterback turned pity of all the town turned prize winning mathlete overnight to anyone who hadn't been paying attention to the guy, Bucky Barnes.
The case subject matter is heavy, but it's a fun and funny romp that I made for the WinterFalcon Week Anthology 2021 as well and I'm planning on expanding it into a series with a teen detective turned adult detective Sam Wilson at some point.
4) Drunken Walk Through the Cemetery (M, 1,203) - "Sam had gone to the costume party at the Barnes manor. It wasn’t as if Sam went to a lot of the parties that happened during the weekend, he dedicated a lot of his time to make sure he kept his grades up so that he could keep his full ride to the private school known for having a near one-hundred percent college acceptance rate. But it was Sam’s senior year, and it was Bucky’s party, the only party he’d ever thrown before and maybe Sam was overstepping a bit, but he was scared for Bucky."
Drunken Walk Through the Cemetery was made for my SamBucky Halloween 2021 anthology for the SamBucky Halloween 2021 event hosted by the SamBucky Library tumblr. It's a sad fic about a spiraling teen Bucky after the loss of his parents and arm due to a car accident and teen Sam checking in on him. I'm going to expand on this one at some point into a small miniseries 🤔
5) From Art Lover to Artist (M, 1,190) - The story of shy Gardener!Bucky Barnes sending anonymous letters to Sculptor!Sam Wilson about his interactive pieces he's creating at the statue garden he's an artist in residence at.
It's a mixed media piece made for my Samtember Ficlet and Drabble Anthology 2021 for the Samtember event hosted by the Sam Wilson Fest tumblr. It's a tale about art, love, and finding a way to get out of your shell and talk to someone. I'm definitely going to expand this into a miniseries at some point 🥰
6) Hooky (M, 1,101) - When Bucky notices Sam's having a terrible day, he decides to get Sam out of the school and play hooky.
This was also a ficlet I made for the my Samtember Ficlet and Drabble Anthology 2021. It's just a short, sweet story about Teen!Bucky trying to cheer up Teen!Sam, and the two ending up becoming a couple 🥰
7) Strictly Marvin (M, 1,043) - Sam and Bucky but it's Strictly Ballroom.
This ficlet was inspired by the idea of a Dancing AU someone in a discord I'm in talked about and was made for my Samtember Ficlet and Drabble Anthology 2021. I'm thinking about expanding it into a miniseries, possibly adding more Silver Linings Playbook into it. It's fun, little story about dancing.
I'll probably do an updated version of this at some point, but these are all my No Powers AUs thus far! I hope you enjoy them! 🥰

Will It Ever Be the Same (Part 1)
Fandom: Nancy Drew (TV 2019)
Characters: Ryan Hudson, Nancy Drew, Ace, Bess Marvin, George Fan, Ned 'Nick' Nickerson
Prompt(s): This is based on two prompts. One of those prompts is from Alicia, who asked: "Could you do one where Nancy is 13 instead, has blonde hair like Lucy, and blue eyes like Ryan? She goes to his place like in 1x17 to get help for the ritual and on the way out she gets dizzy because she's been working herself to exhaustion. In that moment Ryan notices how similar she looks to Lucy and himself but decides not to say anything but also knows Nancy is his. She eventually tells him before doing the ritual. They go back to his place and he just says 'I know it's you'. She gets overwhelmed, almost passes out, and he just sits with her and tells her to rest."
This is also for @nancydrewcentral's week 2 hiatus prompt: Time Period AU.
Warnings: Panic/Anxiety attacks, mentions of anxiety and coping mechanisms, mentions of character deaths (past and present), mentions of suicide
Tumblr media
Nancy wrapped her arms around herself as she bent over, heaving shallow breaths into the air. The sky grew lighter now, as she’d been running for most of the night, and she found herself unsure what to do or where to go next.
“You’re DNA wasn’t a match for the female hair.”
“It’s a mother-daughter match for Lucy Sable.”
“She’s me. The baby is me.”
She couldn’t believe the information she had just found out, and she wished she were older. She thought that if she were older, she might have had more experience in life to handle this sort of life-shattering revelation, but being only fourteen years old, all she felt was betrayal.
And heartbreak.
And panic.
So maybe she felt a lot of things, Nancy admitted to herself, but she felt she had the right to do so. Her whole life had been turned upside-down in a matter of a few hours, and she wasn’t sure what to do now.
She’d been told stories of how hard freshman year in high school could be, but she was positive her friends hadn’t meant this.
She saw headlights approaching and ducked behind a tree, holding her breath as they passed. Though she knew it could be dangerous for someone as young as her to be out alone all night, she was in no mood to face her father. Besides, it wasn’t like she was inexperienced.
She was Nancy Drew, after all.
Or was she?
She let herself plop onto her butt in the grass as she contemplated what to do next. She couldn’t face Carson—for calling him ‘Dad’ now was too hard—but she couldn’t stay out there for too much longer. She’d left her jacket as she climbed out her bedroom window and had started to shiver as soon as she had stopped running.
Her heart ached for the only woman she’d ever known as mother, Kate Drew, and her feelings were mixed there. She didn’t want to be bad at her…whatever she was to her now. Kate had died only a year earlier, and coming to terms with the fact that she’d lied to her hurt more than she wanted to admit.
Then she shivered again and realized she had to find somewhere to take shelter.
She could go to The Claw, she knew. She and her friends had picked up summer jobs working there for cash—under the table of course and no pun intended—and Dawn had always said they could go there whenever they needed. But her friends wouldn’t be there for a few hours yet, and Nancy wasn’t entirely sure she was ready to explain her new parentage to them yet.
As the rush of memories from the night prior filled her head, she picked out one statement that kept replaying itself.
“Ryan Hudson is my biological father.”
She’d seen Ryan Hudson in many different ways over the last few months. For fourteen years, she’d known him as the rich, arrogant hill topper who only graced their town when it was convenient for him or his business dealings.
Then his wife had died during her shift at The Claw, and they’d all been thrown into what she thought would be the weirdest time in her life. Being a murder suspect at fourteen wasn’t what any of her friends had expected for their lives, but it had happened. It was while she was trying to solve that case that she started to see a different side to the man.
Then she’d found out everything regarding his painful loss of Lucy Sable, and her heart broke for him.
Though she’d wanted to help him and Lucy’s ghost in some way, she was forced to put her feelings on pause as even crazier things came to pass—it would be just their luck to call to a sea spirit that wanted them dead—and she’d had to change her list of priorities.
Now all she could think about was how she knew the difficulty in trying to reconcile something in your brain that you had no control over and no knowledge of, no matter how hard you tried.
Standing from her spot in the damp grass, she took a deep breath and started walking again.
This time she knew exactly where she was going.
Her phone rang just as she was approaching Ryan’s house.
Groaning as she assumed it was her…Carson, again, she lifted it to hang up but stopped when she saw that it was Ace instead.
He’d been at The Claw with her the night before when she’d read the DNA match on John Sanders’ laptop. So far, he was the only one to know her secret outside of herself and Carson, and she’d only let him stay because he refused to leave her side.
Though he was usually more ‘chill’ than that, he could be a very protective boyfriend when he wanted to be.
She knew that he would be worried about her, especially considering he knew her better than anyone else in her life. So, deciding it would be a good idea to at least tell him she was alive and not eaten by a bear or killed by the Aglaeca, she answered and lifted it to her ear.
“Ace.” She breathed his name out like he was the life raft she needed to save her from drowning.
“Nancy.” She could hear the concern in his voice. “Where are you? Are you okay? Your dad called my parents and said that you ran away.”
She bit her lip. “Carson told me the truth after I confronted him.”
“Oh, Nance…” He used her nickname, and it squeezed at her heart.
“I’m sorry I made you worry.” Her voice was thick with tears as she felt them rush to her eyes. “I can’t be around him right now.”
Ace’s voice was soft as if he were calming a scared animal. “You could have come to me.”
She shook her head, though she knew rationally that he couldn’t see her. She had the brief thought that maybe he had hacked a satellite and could possibly see her. When they’d started dating, he promised he would do anything he could to keep her happy and safe.
“I’m sorry. If I had come there, your parents would have told Carson, and I just….”
“I get it.” His voice was equal parts comforting and protective. “Just tell me if you’re okay.”
“I’m okay.” She sniffed.
“Good. Because I know you’re dealing with a lot, but uh, George’s mom says the Aglaeca’s coming after us.” He said it quickly as if ripping off a band-aid.
This stopped her in her tracks, and she paid no mind to the fact that she stood on the side of a dangerously curved road in the middle of nowhere.
In her silence, he continued. “Nick, Bess, George…we’ve all gotten these really weird visions. Portents. Have you?”
She sighed and closed her eyes in defeat. “I vomited up a seaweed wreath yesterday morning.”
“I would say that qualifies.” He said lightly.
“When I went to look for it later, it had turned to sand. Are you saying the Aglaeca did that?” She hadn’t believed in the supernatural before Tiffany Hudson’s murder, but she wholeheartedly believed in it now.
“Yeah.” Ace hesitated. “Apparently, it’s like a bloodhound. And because the Aglaeca responded to your call for Lucy’s bones, you’re acting as its gateway.”
“What, Ace? What aren’t you telling me?” Nancy knew her boyfriend well, and he was holding something back from her.
“Uh…well, that also means you’re the one that’s capable of stopping it.”
“You don’t sound hopeful about that.” Her heart lurched in sudden anxiety. “Do you not trust me to do it?”
“No!” He said quickly before correcting himself. “I mean, yes. Obviously, I trust you. It’s not that.”
“Then what is it?”
It was his turn to sigh. “Well, George’s mom says that you can throw it off your trail by mixing your blood with somebody else’s. Disguising yourself so that, you know, the curse can’t find you, because if it can’t find you, it can’t find any of us.
“Uh, but…the ritual has to be done with a relative. Your blood relative.”
There was the catch and the reason for his earlier hesitation. “Well, that’s a problem, because…you saw the test results last night. My closest relative is not my blood relative.”
“But Ryan Hudson is.” He sighed again. “Listen, I know that poses certain challenges, and don’t worry. You know your secret is safe with me. But…”
“I, uh…” She started walking again and let the gears in her head turn. “I think I have a plan.”
“Nancy, babe, what are you going to do?” His voice held concern again, but also admiration.
He constantly made sure she knew how in awe he was at her detective skills and her ability to make the best of even the worst situations.
“I’ll meet you guys at Bess’ aunt’s party, okay?”
“Can you at least tell me the plan?” Ace was quick with his words, knowing full well that she could hang up at any moment.
“I have to talk to my father.”
Ryan crouched on the ground, frozen in place as he looked at the papers scattered in front of him. He’d been up nearly all night searching for any clue as to why Lucy hadn’t talked to him before taking her own life.
Then he’d picked up on the clues she’d written in her journal, and his mind had stopped.
Stroking his finger over Lucy’s baby picture he’d found in her yearbook, he allowed his mind to wander to every what-if scenario that came at him
What if Lucy had been pregnant? Were either of them ready to be parents at eighteen?
What if she’d told him about the baby? Would it have made a difference?
What if she’d lived? Could they have raised their baby together?
What if his parents found out? Is that why they threatened her?
Ryan was so lost in his thoughts that he almost missed his front door opening and whipped his head up to make sure it wasn’t either of the elder Hudsons coming in. He couldn’t have them knowing what he knew—they could react any number of ways. If he did have a child out there, he didn’t want them anywhere near his parents.
Then he caught sight of Nancy and sighed. “What, did you break-in? Figured you and your dad would be celebrating by now.”
Nancy remembered how Ryan had thanked them after the hearing had adjourned. He’d been upset by everything that happened but also grateful that they’d found out the truth of what happened with Lucy.
She felt horrible for having to go back on those things and hurt him again.
She wondered how she was supposed to once again break the heart of this man who had been through so much. He was only thirty-two and had lost the love of his life and his wife. Now, after twenty-four hours of thinking he knew exactly what had happened, Nancy was supposed to add more to his plate? It was causing her heart rate to spike, and she knew a panic attack was coming.
She saw the hopeful look in his eye and couldn’t do it. She wasn’t going to be the one to deal another blow to his fragile mental health.
“I need your help.”
“Uh, sorry, I can’t today. I have to get over to the free clinic in Trenton.” He was still crouched on the ground as he spoke.
Her face scrunched in confusion, and something shifted in his brain that he couldn’t quite place.
“Don’t you have rich people health insurance?” She questioned him as she moved over to the counter.
He rolled his eyes at her teenage sarcasm. “It’s not for me, okay? I’m trying to get answers on Lucy. The court clerk gave me a copy of her journal.”
Her already accelerated heart rate sped up as she turned to him. “Why?”
“Why?” He sounded appalled by the question and stood. “Because my dad threatened her! I wanted to make sure he wasn’t being physically violent. I didn’t see anything in her journal about that, but I did find some other helpful things.”
Every time he spoke, he made her anxiety worse, not that he was aware of it. “Like what?”
“I mean, you’re still young, so I don’t want to read some of it to you, but in early spring of 2000, she was writing stuff that makes me think….” He trailed off, unsure if he should tell her what he found.
She was only fourteen, after all. He didn’t know what she knew or if she was even comfortable with the subject.
“Go on.” She looked at the back of the papers in his hand, not being able to meet his eye. “I’m not a child.”
Ryan sighed. “I think she might have been pregnant.”
Nancy fought to keep the gray from edging into her eyesight as she swallowed down the rising panic within her. She knew if she didn’t give into the feelings soon, or at least do some techniques that she’d been taught, she’d pass out or worse. But she didn’t want to give away her secret to him just yet—if ever—so she shook her head.
“And you think the baby was yours?”
He scoffed. “Of course, it would have been mine! Lucy and I were…dating…around New Year’s, and so yeah. Mine.”
“You mean you were sleeping together around then.” She corrected for him and rolled her eyes at the shocked and slightly horrified look on his face. “Oh, stop that. I’m in high school now. I know these things.”
Then she caught the new look on his face and froze. He no longer looked shocked or horrified by her words but stared at her as if he was looking right through her. She felt her throat tighten and took a step back.
Ryan stared at her as if he was seeing her for the first time. Whatever had shifted in his head minutes earlier when she’d scrunched her face had returned the moment she rolled her eyes at him, and all the puzzle pieces had come together.
Both of those faces were exact replicas of his and Lucy’s expressions respectfully, and suddenly he was seeing what he hadn’t through their entire “working” relationship.
Besides the fact that Lucy had been haunting both of them, the young detective had told him she was allergic to wasps’ stings, and so was he. In addition to that, he remembered seeing her bite her lip when she was nervous, a trait that Lucy had right up until the day she died.
Then there were her looks. Her blonde hair may have been turning redder every day, but it was undoubtedly Lucy’s, as were her blue eyes his. She was the perfect combination of them, and he knew the truth in his heart.
Lucy had been pregnant. And Nancy was their daughter.
Then his surroundings came back to him, and he saw how she looked at that moment.
Her usually snarky yet confident expression had turned to fear, eyes wide and pale skin merging together to make her look gaunt. Ryan saw her throat moving quickly and knew she was trying to either swallow down tears or suck in air. Her hand, which now gripped the papers he’d handed her, shook enough to be visible, and she looked utterly exhausted.
He knew a panic attack when he saw one and knew that she also knew the truth.
Not wanting to push her, he told himself he wouldn’t bring it up to her. But, still, he had to make sure she was okay. The last thing he wanted was for her to be hospitalized because she was panicking over this added thing in her life.
“Nancy?” He kept his voice even, though he could hear the worry in it. “Are you okay?”
As he said the words in the same way Ace had said earlier, she told her brain that it was her boyfriend’s voice she was hearing and forced herself to relax. “I…”
“Can I get you some water?” Ryan moved away from her, walking to the sink. “You look pale.”
“Yeah, I, uh…didn’t get any sleep last night.” She forced herself to take some deep breaths while his back was turned and felt a bit more stable when he brought her the glass. “Counteroffer…I’ll help you find out if Lucy was pregnant if you do me a favor after.”
He’d do anything she asked of him, he realized, even if it meant doing her favors or playing along with something she clearly didn’t know he knew. “Deal. Do you need to call your dad?”
He saw the way she cringed at the word ‘dad’ and confirmed his theory that she wasn’t doing as well with the news as he was.
“Uh, nope. I’m good. He’s probably at work anyway.”
He didn’t call her out on the lie, instead holding the front door open to follow her to his car. He’d find out more about that situation later.
She’d lied to him. She’d looked him right in the face and lied to him.
They’d taken the trip to Trenton, and acting like a spoiled, entitled rich guy had made Ryan realize just how shitty of a person he probably was in everyone’s eyes. After Nancy had insisted on speaking to the doctor herself, he stood in the waiting room and thought about it.
He knew that he was different from everyone else in Horseshoe Bay, but until he was pretending to threaten to shut down the clinic, he had never realized how those people might see him. It was hard to come to terms with the fact that you had been an asshole for thirty-two years of your life, but Ryan had decided at that moment there wouldn’t be another.
He was going to change for Nancy, even if she never knew it was for her. He never wanted to see the look on her face as he had when she’d shut him up or told him a flat-out lie after leaving the clinic.
Sitting in the driver’s seat of his car, he thought about the story she’d spun for him, telling him that Lucy had been pregnant but had died with her child still inside her womb. He had done the math and had figured out that Nancy had been born weeks earlier than her due date, and she must have too.
Her knowledge of life and her ability to spin a tale baffled him.
“So, are you going to like…tell me why we’re going to Diana Marvin’s house?” He questioned, not wanting to sit in silence any more than they had.
Nancy huffed. “It’s Bess and her cousin Owen’s house, too.”
Owen Marvin was quite unlike the rest of his family. Being their age and having so few family members that were, he sometimes joined Bess at The Claw during her shift to hang out with their group. Of course, they all knew that he primarily came to flirt with Nancy but had been sweet enough to stop once her relationship with Ace had come out.
“I know, but still. You know that I’m like persona non grata, so you want to tell me what this favor is or what?”
“Yeah, in a minute. Can I ask you something?” Nancy had shifted her head lazily on the headrest so that she could look at him.
She still looked slightly pale, something the doctor had also noticed when they walked in, but her breathing seemed to be better, and she looked less like crying.
“Yeah, sure.”
She opened and closed her mouth only once before speaking. “What would it have meant, if-if you’d had the…the baby? Do you think you were ready to be a dad at eighteen?”
He should have known this question was coming. Even so, he answered honestly as he figured she’d be able to tell if he was lying. Besides, she looked too vulnerable as she stared at him.
“At eighteen? No…” He chuckled slightly. “No, hell no. A kid like me, I was dumb and spoiled, and I had horrible parental role models, as you know, so no. That would have been a disaster.”
He thought of his parents again and internally cringed, promising himself he’d do everything in his power to keep them away from Nancy.
“Do you think…do you think that you would have tried to…?” He saw her tuck a strand of hair out of the corner of his eye before she froze and started pulling at her hair. “Oh my God.”
“Hey, you okay?” He glanced at her now, then nearly hit the breaks as she started choking. “Hey. Hey, h-hold on.”
He swerved dangerously to the side of the road and brought the car to a park. Nancy was throwing herself out of the car the second they were stopped, and he followed her actions, panic welling up inside of him.
He wasn’t sure if she was having a panic attack again, but it looked different than it had before back at his house. When he finally got around to her side of the car, she was breathing again. He reached her side the second she slammed the door shut and watched in confusion as she stared at her reflection in the tinted windows.
“Hey, what…what, are you having a panic attack?” He knew he wasn’t supposed to ask, but it scared him.
Then he saw her look at her hand and the pile of sand that sat in it that had definitely not been there a moment prior. “No, no, uh…it was a portent.”
“A portent?” How did she even know what that word meant? He sure didn’t at fourteen. “What, you mean from Lucy?”
“No. From something completely different.” She looked scared now, but differently from before.
This had nothing to do with their familial relationship, and that seemed to worry him even more. He wondered if her whole life would worry him, as she seemed always to be ingrained in some dangerous happenstance.
“This is the favor that I had to ask you, actually.” She sounded upset, tears threatening to fall. “A few days ago, I did something unusual to get the evidence to exonerate my…to exonerate Carson. Uh, my friends and I did this ritual to call to this sea spirit.”
He was completely confused but tried to keep up. “Sea spirit. Like…like dolphins?”
She shook her head as she sat on the ledge overlooking the sea. “Stay with me. It’s a local legend. Uh, and it worked. The Aglaeca answered my call. But the problem is…is I couldn’t hold up my end of the bargain.
“The…the Aglaeca wanted Owen Marvin’s blood. All of it. So we couldn’t go through with it, and now we triggered this, uh, curse, and I have to fix it. And in order to do that, I need to do another ritual to make sure that the spirit doesn’t lock onto its target, and…and that’s where you come in.”
She hated having to get someone else involved, but she was desperate for anything that might save the lives of her and her friends.
Though he wanted to wrap his arms around her and whisk her away to be somewhere safe from all this nonsense, he knew that wouldn’t solve anything. He’d seen enough of Lucy’s ghost to know that supernatural creatures existed, and if his daughter was tangled up with one, he couldn’t let her down.
“Why me?” He was genuinely curious and hoped it didn’t come off as a refusal. “I mean, unless this Aglaeca takes cash, then I’m….”
“It’s not about your money this time, Ryan.” She snapped at him now, and he could see the panic setting back in. “It’s about you specifically, because….”
He froze, watching her face carefully, and wondered if this was the moment she would reveal that she knew she was his daughter.
Then he watched as she hesitated and shook her head. “It’s a long story, uh, and one of which you don’t need to know all the details. But if you just come with me….”
He nodded immediately. “Yeah, no, of course. I mean, it sounds urgent.”
They stared at each other for a second, and he watched as Nancy tried to blink away the tears that had pooled in her eyes. He felt his resolve breaking before taking a deep breath and deciding to take a leap of faith.
“Do you need me because I’m your father?”

Nancy Drew 2x4
You know what Odette Lamar really said “FUCK justice I choose to kill the very nosy teenagers” and that is honestly so valid of her
Also was it just me or was that product placement at the beginning with the water bottle so jarring like please never do that again
God I knew from the fucking getgo that the dybbuk box would not work on the Aglaeca, and I was thinking it would break but I was expecting the Aglaeca to break out, I didn’t think she’d just go ahead and blow it up. That being said the whole thing with the sand being what can hurt her was honestly pretty ingenious, and I am officially counting down the hours until the next episode. Yeah I said hours
Also they have all written obituaries? GUYS. You still have like 24 whole hours left this is not the time for quitting. And I cannot believe the writers really brought Lisbeth back just to do her dirty like that, like I was not the biggest fan of their relationship but my GOD what a way to end things. The entire time I was screaming at Bess “go into the restaurant!” and then she DIDN’T. Like no Bess you’re not a coward but I’m still going to shake you. You straight up ghosted (ha) your gf in front of her parents. She deserved better.
Speaking of people whom I kind of want to shake: how is that Aristotle guy Hannah’s assistant? Also who is he? He can’t be not important with a name like Aristotle. I’m betting he killed or kills somebody and will be a big bad at some point, or at least a minor villain. He will be some form of bad is my point, and let the record show I called it first.
I had two favorite parts this episode, and they relate to each other so let’s see what they were shall we?
One of them, no surprise, the Ace and Carson and Ryan road trip. I was about to die. Carson is a bear and Ryan just cannot or will not stop poking him in the eye with a very short stick, and Ace is the wilderness survival guard waving a sign that says “PUT DOWN THE STICK.” And then their little bonding ‘how to be a father’ moment at the gas station was the definition of precious. Carson saying no, he really had no idea Ryan was the father and was trying to honor Lucy, teaching him how to talk to Nancy. Ryan’s character growth is going to be hard-earned and well-won and I cannot wait to see the kind of man he turns into. We caught a glimpse of it, when he was with Nancy after. Admitting he would’ve had no idea what to do with her as a kid and that he still has no idea what to do now? Figuring out the music puzzle, when he was so proud to be able to keep up with his genius daughter who takes after her mother, and so proud of Nancy. And her admitting she had a “mild interest” in having a relationship with him? Tears.
My other favorite part comes as a direct result of Ryan helping Nancy. One of the perks of this show will always be when Amateur Sleuth Nancy DrewTM really just gets to unleash her truly unrivaled brain power for the purposes of solving a mystery. Memorizing the letters, working out the cipher, going to the church, then the confession box, finding the letters and the necklace. My girl cannot be beaten.
Also I cannot believe they made Odette like six times more tragic by making her gay and having her be torn away from her lady love like what gave them the right. And shoutout to Agnes Marvin, who in the late 1700s, had everything to lose and nothing to gain by attempting to go against her very powerful husband and get justice for a dead woman. Hermione Lodge could never
As far as George and Nick go, it is no secret I do not typically see a whole lot of chemistry from them. I am normally able to overlook it in favor of commenting on the good writing. HOWEVER. This episode changed all that. Their talk at the end, George stressing about Jessie and Nick reassuring her, and him needing George to know that somebody loves her? Sweetest moment yet we’ve seen this season, possibly one of the sweetest in the show so far.
That scene at the end? With the box and Aglaeca? Oooooooh Lordy. I was wound tighter than a two dollar watch, I had the volume unreasonably high, the lights were off, my nerves were frayed, I was set. AND I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. The Aglaeca slowly rising out of the sea as she recognizes the necklace, reaching for it, her hand changing, seeing her true reflection in the mirror. And then like overcoming the ghostly temptation and being furious. Nancy making an appeal directly to Odette, bypassing the Aglaeca. THE AGLAECA BLOWING UP THE VERY EXPENSIVE DYBBUK BOX. No shit you guys I cannot believe she just exploded a multimillion dollar historical treasure. AND THEN THE SAND TURNED INTO SEAWEED AND STARTED TO CHOKE HER AND SHE FELL BACK BENEATH THE WAVES. “And if we can hurt her...” “Maybe we can kill her.” BRUH
This episode did everything a penultimate season finale (as it was intended to be) is supposed to do, I can only IMAGINE how next week will deliver.
And now, because I am me, and I have read the books: Time for DREWSON. God that scene after George kind of yells at Nancy, where Nick talks about how he likes to learn how things work. Nancy realizes this is, again, something about Nick she had no idea existed, he reminds her she never asked. You know what I want? PINING. Not on Nick’s behalf, he just confessed his love to George and all that. I want to see NANCY pining. Because the fact that their relationship did not work out was a mutual thing, but Nancy was the driving force. I want Nancy to (as they become friends) fall deeper and deeper in love with him, and know that she lost him and can’t get him back, and very bitterly regret it. I want her to suffer in silence for like at least a good ten episodes before anyone even notices.
Well only six days twenty hours and twenty-five minutes left, see you next week for 2x5, The Drowned Woman.
Oh and one last thing before I go.

Jealous
this one was requested by @stormofsansas and I had so much fun writing it, thanks for the request!
“Did you hear about Ace’s supposed girlfriend?” Bess asks me as I close the front door of my house and burrow into my coat. It’s only November, but Maine gets cold surprisingly fast.
“Have I what?” I ask as I unlock my car and slide into the driver’s seat. Bess slept over last night, helping me figure out something vaguely Marvin-related.
“Heard about Ace’s girlfriend?” I shake my head. “Yeah she showed up on your day off. Ace seemed really smitten.”
“Who says ‘smitten’ anymore?” I ask as I turn the key in the ignition. The car revs and then stops. I turn the key again with the same result.
“Who drives ancient convertibles anymore?” Bess counters as I sigh and pitch forward against my steering wheel. “Sorry, that was mean,” Bess says. “I get like this when I eat raw pancakes.”
“Was that supposed to be an apology?” I ask as I sit up. Bess finds it hilarious that I work at The Claw and can’t cook.
“Sort of. Hang on let’s see if we can call Ace and get a ride.”
“Sure. Maybe we can learn about his girlfriend.”
“Supposed girlfriend,” Bess corrects as she brings her phone to her ear.
While Bess tries to get Ace to drive us to work, I try to figure out who would date Ace. Not that I think there’s anything wrong with Ace. I mean he’s kind, has great quips, and is incredibly handsome. There’s no denying that. And his talent for understanding a person is envious. But I just can’t imagine Ace dating someone.
I mean, there was Laura Tandy. But she was too selfish. She used Ace to get what she wanted, and was willing to leave for Paris instead of staying with him. And then there were those girls who flocked around Ace in high school. I didn’t really pay much attention to Ace back then. He was a grade ahead of me and not particularly popular - he played one sport in his freshman year before he decided it wasn’t for him and the only club he was part of was the coding club because he didn’t like the president and wanted to disrupt it as much as he could - but he was the only one who could answer as many questions as me in my forensics class. I guess high school me was always in awe of him. And even though we’re friends now and I’ve considered him my equal for months, it’s always disconcerting when you find out people you admire are just human.
Bess’s voice brings me back to myself. “What did you say?” I ask her.
Bess rolls her eyes at me. “I said that Ace is on his way over. And that girl is with him.”
“The girlfriend?”
“Supposed girlfriend,” Bess repeats emphatically. I shake my head at her.
Twenty minutes later I’m in the back of Ace’s car squished next to Bess, staring at the back of Callie Something-or-other’s preppy blonde head. When Ace pulled into my driveway she bounced out of the car in her three inch stilettos, kissed my cheeks like we were in Paris, and waved her stacks of bracelets as she called me “doll”, “honey”, and “darling”. I’m pretty sure my sinuses will never be the same after having to breathe the fumes from her tacky perfume. The whole time we stood in my driveway she clung to Ace like a life preserver, chocking the poor boy half to death.
I don’t hate her. I don’t.
“So Nancy darling,” Callie purrs, “I hear you fancy yourself a detective.”
Bess and I share a look. I glace at Ace in the rearview mirror, trying to read his thoughts, but he’s closed off, his eyes dull. “Yeah, I guess that’s one way to say it.”
Callie wrinkles her nose at me like I’m a cute child that finally understood the purpose of wearing shoes on their feet and not their hands. “Have you solved any interesting mysteries around here honey? Anything fun in this small town I should know about?” My temper flashes at her overly-sweet tone. I can feel Bess nudge my elbow as a warning, but I ignore her.
“Well, I did solve the mystery of the girl who fell off the bluffs after the Sea Queen ceremony nineteen years ago.”
“Oh great, she said it,” Bess mutters.
Callie gives me a breathless “ohh” but her eyes are as dead as Ace’s. “What happened to her?”
“Oh she was slut shamed by the entire town and was pregnant with a baby who actually happened to be me and she jumped from the bluffs after I was born because she didn’t want to live and she came back to haunt my dad and also me so we could solve her mystery, which was also tied to the death of my dad’s wife. Turns out she was killed by my maternal uncle. I caught him to but not before he killed Bess’s cousin.”
Callie stares at me for a moment before squinting her hazel eyes. “You really should send me that video game. It sounds fun!” With that she swings back to face the front and I resist the urge to throw my messenger bag at the back of her head. I try to gauge Ace’s feelings again, but I can’t read him at all. And it’s a little annoying. Okay. More like very annoying.
I glare at her until Ace pulls up in front of the Claw. I wait for her to get out of the car with Ace, talking a mile a minute (”ooo Ace is this where you work? It’s so cool that Horseshoe Bay has an authentic restaurant. You guys farm salmon or something right?”) before I bury my head in my hands with a groan. Bess starts laughing.
“What?” I snap.
“Your life would make a good video game.”
I reach over Bess, open her door, and unbuckle her seatbelt. “Get out,” I say only half jokingly. Bess’s smile drops and she puts an arm around me, pulling me into her.
“It’s okay to be jealous. You like Ace and up until today, I thought he like you too.” I sit back up.
“I’m not jealous!” I say indignantly. Bess raises her eyebrows silently. “I’m not!” I repeat, sitting up. I’m not jealous of Callie.
At all.
“Alright. If you say so. You know your feelings best. But do come in sometime this century. You might have saved our lives, but George still expects you to work.”
“I know, I know I’m coming.” Bess leaves, giving me a minute to shout into my hands before climbing out of the car, crossing the parking lot, and pushing thorough the front door of the Claw. George runs to me when she sees me.
“Have you met this walking Barbie doll?” she whispers.
“Unfortunately,” I respond. George rolls her eyes.
“Serve her would you? She’s giving me a migraine. You’d think Ace would date someone with sense. Kinda like you.”
“Kinda?” I ask, amused despite my annoyance.
“Well, you don’t always have sense.”
“And here I was thinking you wanted my help.”
“Just serve her, Drew.”
“Do you want me to change?”
“Just go before she asks me for help,” George says dangerously. I do as I’m told. I pull off my coat and grab a menu before walking towards Callie, who’s at a table examining her nails. She grins when she looks up at me.
“Hi! You’re my waitress?”
“Seems so,” I say.
Callie grins. “Well, since you like mysteries as much as I do, why don’t you surprise me? Talk to Ace, I’m sure he knows what I’d like.”
Okay, okay we get it. You know Ace. I force a smile and take back the menu. “Sounds great.” I turn on my heel and march towards the kitchen. “Your guest wants a surprise Ace. I’m gonna change. I’ll serve it when it’s ready.”
Ace looks up from the bowl he’s washing, startled. At least that’s one emotion I can read. “Okay.” I nod at him and stalk off. “And hey, Nance?”
“Yeah?” I say shortly, stepping back towards the sink.
“Never mind.”
“Great.” I march off again, and change into my uniform with shaking hands. I have no idea why this girl gets under my skin but she does. Ace stops me on my way back to the tables. He looks like he’s about to say something, but he just shoves a plate of salad and fries at me. “Thanks,” I say, my tone softening as I meet his eyes. I can never stay mad at him. He smiles back at me, and my heart does that weird butterfly on steroids thing it’s been doing lately.
I walk towards Callie’s table and put the plate in front of her. “Oh look, Ace got it right! Did you know that the first time Ace and I went out in sophomore year of high school he guessed my dinner choice and he was right then. Just like he is now.”
“That’s great,” I say as a surge of... something rushes through me. “I gotta go.”
I turn as the tears start to fall. “Nance are you-” I ignore Bess’s question as I race for the lockers. Of course I’d ignore my feelings for Ace until the moment I have no chance with him. Because I’m incapable of any relationship with anyone. Not with Nick. Not with Owen. Not with any of my parents. Why would my relationship with Ace be any different? I crash into someone as I pass the kitchen, but I keep going without apologizing until someone’s hand is on my waist, stopping me.
“Nancy are you okay?” I look up to see Ace looking down at me.
“No Ace I’m not. So please leave me alone.” I pull out of his grasp.
“Nancy, Nancy wait. You can’t push me away.”
I spin around, my jealousy replaced with anger. “And you can’t flirt with someone and bump into someone whenever you walk with them and call them brilliant and say you’ve never had a friend like them and then show up in their driveway with your girlfriend Ace! It’s rude to lead people on. So don’t tell me what I can and can’t do.”
Ace stares at me for a moment. “What girlfriend?”
“What?”
“I don’t have a girlfriend Nancy.”
“But Callie said you went out-”
“In sophomore year. Yeah. She’s my mom’s best friend’s kid. We went out once before deciding it wouldn’t work.”
What? “But then why did she flirt with you?”
Ace rolls his eyes. “Because I told her something about you and now she’s sizing you up.”
Oh. “What did you tell her?”
“She asked about my friends. And I said that there’s no one more important to me than you.”
I snort.
“No. Nancy. I mean it.” Ace steps towards me. I look up into his clear blue eyes. They’re not closed off anymore. They’re earnest. And truthful. “I’ve never met a girl who makes me more alive than you Nancy. And year I flirt with you. And bump into you when we walk. And I call you brilliant because it’s true. Because I... like you.” He reaches for one of my hands, and I let him take it. “I have liked you since you told me about failing senior year when I was out smoking. And I like you more every time I see you.”
I stand on my toes. I lose my balance and Ace’s free hand shoots out to grab my waist as I rest my hand on his shoulder. “I like you too Ace.”
He grins at me, his head dipping down towards mine. I stretch up until the space between our lips is gone, and oh god kissing Ace is the best thing in the world. I could stay here in this moment with his hand on my waist and our fingers intertwined forever. But we do break away, however, when someone starts applauding. We turn to see Callie, Bess, George, and Nick (where’d he come from) standing in the door cheering us on. I glance at Ace.
“Well they’d know eventually,” he says.
“True,” I agree as we both drop into theatrical bows.

Reparations
(Ao3) | 1,528 words
---------------------------------------
Things for the Claw Crew have been less than ideal lately. The Marvin Empire is pulling Bess farther and farther down an uncharacteristic road of ladder-climbing and cold, uncaring business deals. George & Nick are on the outs because of an ongoing emotional disagreement. Now, to top it all off, an angry spirit named Camila Carmody is vowing to make good on George’s old blood bucket curse by claiming her life before midnight.
Enacting a ritual to capture Camila’s vengeful spirit for good is the only way to ensure that she will never terrorize another soul in Horseshoe Bay again. Nancy and her friends are all stationed at different areas of an abandoned hospital by the ocean, preparing to do just that.
As soon as Ace shuts the slotted storage room door behind them, Nancy sinks to the ground with a pointed heaviness. “Just when I thought my life couldn’t get any worse - here I am! Hiding in a closet because we’re going to kill an angry sea ghost that’s after.. my friend’s.. blood.”
The way her tone quiets down at the end of her sentence reveals to Ace that there is more beneath the surface she wants to say. He drops to the floor next to her and patiently waits to hear what she is thinking.
“First my dad got arrested. Then my dad wasn’t my dad. Then my dad was Ryan Hudson... and then my boyfriend died. And now that I’ve finally had enough time to process everything, I thought it would start to feel better and yet it doesn’t. I have no idea what I’m doing wrong. What am I doing wrong?”
“...Do you want me to answer that question?”
Nancy lets out an incredulous huff, causing her strawberry blonde curls to bounce a little with the movement of her shoulders. “At this point, I’m open to suggestions.”
Ace takes a moment to decide how best to put what it is he wants to say, then states in a soft tone of voice, “I think you’re bein’ too hard on your dad.”
Without missing a beat Nancy breathes out a sardonic, “Which one?”
“Both.”
Another silence envelops the small room.
“...But especially Mr. D.” Their eyes meet, and Ace is struck by her surprisingly calm demeanor; one that quietly urges him to elaborate.
“You know he raised you. He took you in when he didn’t even have to. All that means nothing now that he kept one secret from you?”
“Yeah, well it’s one hell of a secret.”
“You keep secrets, too.”
“None like that! I mean that’s - that’s my entire life.” There’s a certain quiver to her voice, a fleeting break in her usual stoicism that Ace can only imagine she hates to hear from herself. Without giving much thought to the action, he places a comforting hand on her knee.
“Everything he does is for you, Nancy.”
He looks over at her with as relaxed a face as ever. The next words fall lithely out of his lips, “People are gonna disappoint you. Don’t hold it against them.”
An unsettled feeling begins to claw at her conscience. She knows who she is - strong-willed, determined, and stubborn as an ox when it comes to admitting her pride - but she also knows who Carson Drew is. Kind, compassionate, and far more forgiving than she could ever deserve.
So then why does she still feel so indignant, as though she has been wronged and betrayed by the one person she had always trusted the most? No, she isn’t ready to forgive him.
But when will she ever be?
While Ace is looking away she examines the vaguely-lit angles of his face, contemplating. She breaks the tension with a lighthearted quip. “Well you never seem to disappoint me, Ace.”
A small grin forms on his face as he glances back at her, this time holding her gaze for more than a few seconds.
Suddenly the walkie-talkie in Ace’s back pocket crackles to life, and this time, the glance they exchange is out of mutual understanding that it’s time to take action.
------------------------
Hours after a successful mission, the crew is gathered at the Claw as per their usual habit of unwinding after a day full of chaos; the clock, however, is going on 11PM and everyone - especially poor George - is exhausted. Nancy watches with wistful eyes as Nick slides George’s arm across his muscled shoulders, acting as her literal and metaphorical rock in spite of everything they’ve been through. They amble their way out the back door as Bess exits through the front, Ace having silently taken on the task of finishing up the closing process for the Claw.
As the only other remaining soul on site, Nancy slides into a bar stool with hands folded in front of her. “Hey. I, uh, didn’t get to say it before, so thank you. For listening.”
Ace glances up only briefly as he finishes loading a storage cart with wine glasses, “Yeah, no problem.”
Her eyes follow his frame as he places the cart on top of another inside a lower cabinet. He slides the door shut with a single swift motion and wipes his hands on a dish towel. The quiet atmosphere is rather nice, Nancy finds. Peaceful - but she knows that its existence is only temporary, at least until she crafts another sentence to fill it with.
“I know I have a tendency to get stuck in my head,” she starts, “And I know how much it... pushes people away. I’m just having a hard time reconciling who I thought Carson was with who he turned out to be,” she observes Ace’s soft expression as he steps up to her spot at the counter before bitterly finishing, “A liar.”
The silence that follows would have been bearable if not for the fact that her words cause him to be noticeably disappointed in her, as evidenced by the way he shifts uncomfortably when sliding his hand into the back pocket of his jeans. He pouts his lips for a moment and looks down at the counter. “I don’t really think that’s fair.”
She starts to protest, but decides against it. Her mouth closes and she lowers her face, trying in desperation to ignore Ace’s gaze boring right through her.
“Your father’s a good man. He deserves to hear it from you.” Ace says simply. The words are so haunting that the same unsettled feeling from before returns in full swing, this time leaving an icy chill in its wake.
All she can do is stare at him in awe, though it’s a sentiment she manages to keep blanketed under an impenetrable facade.
His eyes only linger for a moment before he turns and disappears into the kitchen, from where Nancy eventually hears the back door.
She sits unmoving in the dim restaurant for longer than is perhaps necessary.
------------------------
At some point she picks up her keys and closes the Claw behind her. On the drive home, Nancy begins to wonder what her friends are doing at that moment - how they are coping.
George is wrapped up in a blanket, safe and secure at home. Nick has still not left her side, offering up a hot herbal tea from Victoria’s recipe book and sitting with her in front of the fire. He drapes a gentle arm around her shoulders, relieved to finally have all worries of danger and arguments forgotten & behind them - for the time being, at least.
Sitting at her vanity table at Aunt Diana’s, Bess numbly traces a finger down the multiple scars she acquired tonight and inadvertently smears blood along with the removal of her makeup. Bess’s internal struggle has only been worsening; that inevitable divide between the family she has always dreamed of and the cold, steely disposition that comes with being one of them.
At last, breaking through her thoughts, Nancy arrives home.
As she steps into the entryway the first thing she sees is Carson Drew dropping a stack of papers onto the dinner table. In addition to a teal button-down, he also wears the same resigned, dejected expression that has become his default since the truth about Nancy’s parentage came to light. Carson has more or less bound himself to a vow of silence so as to maintain the fragile peace between them. Watching her dad move so lifelessly, with Ace’s words echoing in her head, it dawns on Nancy how completely and unacceptably unfair that is to him.
When he takes notice of his daughter’s presence across the hall, he is able to identify the prick of tears in her eyes, but says nothing.
Neither does she.
Rather than exchanging words, Nancy feels safer exchanging an embrace. In an instant she has closed the distance between them, arms wrapping around his midsection as though her very life depended on it. It surprises her how quickly he manages to reciprocate the action, despite being caught off guard by it, gripping her tightly with an overwhelming abundance of love and affection that surpasses any mistake she could ever possibly make.

Leave Them Alone!
Something slid underneath the door and Jack glanced down at the paper that hit their foot. Picking it up they tried to read what they could in the dark hall.
“Not happening Ace...you are acting strange, are you okay?”
Jack said staring at the door, listening to shuffling come from the room then they could hear Ace wince and cough.
“Ace? Open up…”
Jack said concerned and juggled the doorknob trying to open it, soon there was silence on the other side of the door.
“Uh…Ace?”
They heard the door unlock and Jack slowly slid the door open to an unconscious Ace sprawled on the ground. Red strings digging into their neck and wrist tight causing the mute to wince in pain as they slept.
“Anti!”
Jack yelled in annoyance, their eyes turned towards the door going to walk out but felt a hand grab their leg. Jack glanced down at Ace, their eyes glowing green as they clearly don’t have any control.
“Get off…”
Jack mumbled and bent down going to make the mute puppet let go of their leg, Ace stood grabbing their shirt. The eyes flashed between green and the usual grey, showing clear signs of fighting back.
“You...need...them”
Ace winced as they closed their eyes, their hands moved and dragged Jack across the room. Jack winced and watched as Ace reached out for some red string that laid on an empty box
“Stop!”
Jack shoved Ace away and stood there watching the puppet stagger back against the wall, their eyes shot up staring at Jack
“Sorry, Ace...Anti let them go you glitchy fuck!”
Jack growled taking a few steps back, Aces hand went to their own neck as a cough escaped them. Watching Ace scratch at the strings for air Jack glanced around nervously for something.
Jack walked up and wrapped their hand around the string that wrapped around Ace’s neck and tugged hard snapping it in half.
Ace gasped as their eyes went to their normal drained grey. Blood dripped down their neck and wrist as the strings suddenly disappeared, standing there shakily Ace glanced at Jack hesitantly.
Jack glanced around and grabbed a nearby medical kit
“I'm not good at this but...it’s the best I can do”
Jack said softly and wrapped Ace up, they stared at the ground clear shame and fear in their eyes. Jack glanced at them softly.
“Let’s go check on the others if you are alright with that…”
Jack said and Ace only nodded, they held themselves as they followed behind Jack downstairs
Everyone else seems fine, Jack glared at the demon who was still picking at his food
“What the fuck was that?!”
Jack growled, staring at the demon who’s form glitched in annoyance. Anti stood and turned to the two which just caused Ace to look down in shame
“You annoying little shit”
Anti growled staring at Jack who scoffed at the remark
Jack’s fist tightened in anger, Anti glanced at the others who seemed off. Sitting there with glowing eyes but not one seems to fight against it.
Jack threw the first hit, hitting Anti in the face, Anti grumbled and swung back leading each other into a physical fight.
Ace stared hesitantly not knowing what they should do. Seeing a bit of blood start to splatter Ace whimpered quietly and moved between them kicking Jack away as they held onto Anti trying to keep his hands down.
Jack wiped the blood leaking from their nose as they stared at the angered demon, Ace winced feeling the glitches interfere with their aura
“Stop...please…”
Ace glanced up at Anti whose nose was also bleeding, Ace stood slowly letting go of the demon.
“Let them...lay down…”
Ace said softly glancing at everyone else before Anti, Ace was clearly shaken to the core and in pain.
Anti stared at the two then scoffed, the rest lets out a small gasp as they snapped back to reality and glanced around.
“What the fuck happened?”
Nems said glancing at Jack who just mumbled using a towel to stop the bleeding, the three didn’t speak leaving the rest of them confused
“Bed…”
Ace said softly and the others glanced at the window, Angela yawned
“Yeah, we should sleep…”
Nicole said as she stood, the three sitting at the table heads upstairs
Ace avoided eye contact with Anti as they put their arm around Jack softly leading them upstairs.
Into the night as everyone slept it was rather peaceful, till the barely audible sound of something hitting against the wall woke Angela up.
She glanced at the others who slept, she slowly moved off the bed and noticed Ace wasn’t in their bed at all.
Leaving the room quietly she heard a wince, peering around a corner she watched Anti shove Ace down to the ground.
“You fucking disobedient freak!”
Anti growled and bent down grabbing them by their neck, Ace choked and winced quietly as they’re pinned against the wall. Angela hid fearfully watching the demon whisper something to Ace.
Feeling a sharp tug Angela was pulled out of her hiding spot, falling onto her knees she glanced at the demon who stared down at her.
“Why the fuck are you awake?”
He snarled, dropping Ace who sat there tiredly glancing at them weakly. Angela froze as Anti walked over to her.
“L-leave Ace alone! What the fuck is wrong with you?”
Angela stuttered and cursed under her breath at the mistake, Anti kicked Angela in the chest forcing her to fall back. Stepping down on her chest he stared at her.
Angela winced in pain grabbing onto his ankle staring at him fearfully.
“You should be a good puppet and go to bed”
Anti grumbled grabbing onto his knife in his pocket, causing her breath to pick up in fear
“D-don’t…”
Ace whimpered quietly
“Shut the fuck up”
Anti growled glancing back at the tired human, they nodded sitting there
Grabbing part Anti swung using the handle knocking Angela out. Laying beneath him Ace watched as a giant bruise formed on Angela’s face.
Snapping his fingers Angela winced as her strings tightened cutting into her skin, he turned to Ace holding his knife tight, and walked towards them.
The next morning Nicole was the first one awake, with a stretch and yawn she mumbled and glanced around noticing both Angela and Ace were gone
Standing up and getting dressed she glanced over at Jack and shook them awake. Jack slowly opened their eyes and whined at the bruises that covered their body
“Hm?”
“Ace and Angela are gone...just wanted to tell you”
Nicole said waking up Nems as well, heading downstairs she stopped at the steps.
Ace sat slouched against the wall with small breaths, bruises, and a huge gash across their chest. Angela laid there with bloodied wrist and neck with a giant bruise on the side of her face
“God what the fuck did we miss…”
Nems said softly walking up beside Nicole, hearing Jack come down they glanced at them.
Jack stared at Ace and Angela in annoyance then walked towards Antis room, Nicole grabbed their arm pulling them back
“No, let's just...head out for today...away from Anti…”
Nicole said softly and Jack glanced at her before at everyone else
“Fine”
Jack mumbled walking into the bathroom, they sat there for a second trying to collect their thoughts. Nems on the other hand walked around towards Ace and Angela, hesitantly she knelt down beside them
“G-guys?”
Nems said and put her hand on Ace shaking them softly, Ace winced opening their eyes.
Glancing around Ace glanced down at the gash in their chest with a sigh and wince. Angela woke up glancing around without sitting up.
“We can’t even get these two out the house”
Nems said glancing up out the window
“What about the septic egos house...we can relax there”
Nicole suggested and Nems nodding glancing at Jack who walked back into the room
Ace went to stand and winced at the pure pain that ran through their body, Nems helped Angela up.
“We need to get them there...and Jack too cause you looked all beat up”
“You have no idea”
Jack sighed and they all started to walk to the septic egos house thankful Anti was still asleep.
Arriving at the house and settling in Nems and Nicole were left to hang with the egos as the other three were taken away for examination.
“What even happened?”
Marvin asked sitting down glancing at the two, Nems glanced at Nicole hesitantly then at Marvin
“Well, we aren’t really sure...I guess Anti took control? When we came back to reality Jack and Anti were fist fighting…”
Nicole said softly and shrugged, hearing one of the egos they glanced over as JJ walked down the steps. He gave a soft smile and wave before heading off to the backyard.
“Well dang that’s quite brave”
Jackie chuckled sitting there in a normal outfit besides his usual red superhero outfit, his hair was fluffy as it fell in front of his eyes. Nems chuckled sitting back.
“Yeah, it is...Jack’s the only one who isn’t like the rest of us”
“I’m honestly surprised Anti didn’t hurt us”
Nicole said softly glancing over at Nems who shrugged thinking
“Well we didn’t give him a reason too, he seems to just have a hatred for the other three”
Nems mentioned and they just decided to shake off the topic talking with the egos.
After a few hours, Henrik walked in with a sigh, taking off his coat glancing over at the others as everyone was sitting in the living room talking. Marvin sat in front of JJ signing something as JJ just smiled nodding.
“How did...it go?”
Nems asked softly glancing up at Henrik who rubbed his wrist glancing over
“It went fine, they need rest”
Henrik said and plopped down next to Jackie, they continued for quite a while until Nems sat there staring at the window
“We don’t want to return there...what do we do?”
Nems asked and the others glanced over at her quietly, Jackie sits up with a little look of concern
“I mean...where else do you have? We don’t have room here”
Marvin said softly glancing at JJ who just shrugged
“What about Dark? He might let us”
Nicole suggested and Nems nodded thinking, Nems went to open her mouth to speak but there was a knock at the door before it opened.
They all glanced over at Anti who just walked in, he glanced back at them with a mumble
“Oh fuck”
Nems mumbled
JJ glanced at Anti curiously and signed something
“You’re leaning on the button dumbass”
Anti mumbled and JJ glanced down where his side was leaning against a brick that pushed onto the fireplace the more he leaned on it.
“Sorry”
JJ signed softly, the others sat there shifting quietly
“Why don’t any of you have it with you?”
Anti mumbled and both Nems and Nicole sat there confused
“Have what?”
Nicole asked and Anti sighed, reaching into his pocket he pulled out a small box that was blinking rapidly, the sounds of vibrations filled the room with each flash
“Uh, what is that?”
Nems asked and Anti just rolled his eyes putting it in his pocket once again
“We created this just in case if one of us needed help...haven’t really used it since Anti turned into...well that”
“That?”
Anti growled under his breath, Jackie sat up watching him clearly use to his ways
“Daww Anti came to help?”
Nems smiled a bit, Anti glitched out and glanced away
“I don’t care what happens to them”
He said with a clear hint of lying, hearing shuffling come from upstairs Anti glanced up spotting a familiar purple hair male. Anti moved and went upstairs, soon he came down holding the zombie who was unfazed by the glitching.
Putting Robbie down he glanced over at Nems and Nicole
“Let's go”
Anti said heading to the front door, Nems and Nicole glanced at each other hesitantly and stood when they felt the strings tightened around their wrist.
“Bye…”
Nems said softly glancing at the egos before following Anti, Nicole followed as well
The three walked back to the house in silence and Nems glanced at the demon who just walked quietly glancing around the village and the people that lived there.
“...What's going to happen to us…”
Nems asked, glancing at him and Anti just scoffed in response as he opened the door.

It’s gotten to the point where if I start listening to a song on YouTube, it’s a Bee song until proven otherwise. That in mind, “everything i wanted” by Billie Eilish feels like a very JJ song. Although, I cannot tell if the other person speaking is Anti or Jackie. Or one of the other bros, but you know me. If I can stick Jackie somewhere I will.
oh nikki i LOVE billie eilish but i don’t think i’ve heard this one!! oh this is that new one huh? exciteeee.
(this background reminds me of AC Revelations I MISS DESMOND SO MUCH okay ignore me lol) oh this is damn pretty. her voice is great. this is awesome i’m going to have to listen to this again. i can totally see this for Jackie, like being terrified he can’t let anyone down but at the same time like lowkey thinking a lot about dying, wondering if they would just be better off without him failing them over and over again... but i LOVE that you said it could be Anti too cause i’m obsessed with the idea that he is never going to be able to find happiness even if he got everything he wanted - boys all dead or puppeted, wearing Jack’s skin, the whole channel or the whole world, all of it belonging to him. and yet he’d still be this miserable, hateful, furious creature. and i think realizing that it would never satisfy him would just about drive him out of his mind
Tumblr media
oh i’m excited for this OF COURSE florence rocks out let me hear this. oh this some cool rattling lol. oh heck yeah great song off the bat i love her poetry. OH THIS WOW THIS IS PERFECT FOR HIM WOW YOU’RE SO RIGHT. JUST HIS OBSESSION FOR SEARCHING FOR ANSWERS AND READING THE THINGS MARVIN LEFT BEHIND OVER AND OVER AGAIN, TRYING TO UNDERSTAND HIS BROTHER’S POINT OF VIEW, wishing he would come back just for a second at least to explain this to him, to make everything clear, to see the world as he saw it, to see the goodness in himself like Marvin always used to, cause he can’t see it anymore. but one day he’s going to again, and then he’s going to speak that same language he never even understood before his brothers taught it to him.
this rocks ahhh okay nikki while I got you you should totally listen to Lost by Dermot Kennedy!!! i’m OBSESSED with it and it totally reminds me of Marvin like seeing so much light in Jackie even though Jackie can’t see it. and like some of Marvin’s fear but also acceptance knowing that he’s lost to him even though he knows Jackie wants so badly to save him it’s GOOD

Ticket to Ride (Barson fic)
This is stupid, and ridiculous, and pointless, and I don’t care because I needed a distraction during work today and this idea did the trick ;) Basically, it’s Barba speaking almost exclusively in song lyrics while he removes some clothing.
No real smut. Maybe I’ll write a more serious version of this scene at some point, but this one is just...fluff :)
Around 1800 words, song list included at the end.
Also on AO3
Benson walked into the quiet, dark apartment. She shucked her jacket and hung it on the coatrack, kicked off her shoes, and dropped her purse on the table. She unbuckled her gun belt and put it on top of the bookcase, out of habit, even though she knew Noah wasn’t home.
Her bedroom door was closed, but there was light painting the carpet beneath it, and she frowned as she headed in that direction. She turned the knob and pushed the door open, stepping into the room.
Barba was standing in the middle of the floor, fully dressed in a suit and tie—everything but shoes. She stopped in the doorway, surprised. “Um…hello,” she said.
“Hey, baby,” he answered, and she didn’t miss the mischievous twinkle in his eyes.
She narrowed her own eyes, looking him over. “What’s wrong with you?”
He spread his hands. “I like New York in June, how about you?”
“It’s April,” she answered. She pushed the door closed and crossed her arms. “How much have you had to drink?”
His lips twitched, but he didn’t quite smile. “The second you walked through the door I caught a buzz.”
She made a sound of exasperation. “It’s been a long day. What’s your plan, here?”
“I’ve got two tickets to paradise.”
“Well, I’ve got one ticket to sleep.”
“You’ve lost that lovin’ feeling?”
She glared at him, putting her fists on her hips. “Do you have any idea what time it is?”
“Does anybody really know what time it is?”
“Did your multilingual button get stuck on song lyrics?” she asked.
He almost laughed at that—she could see him struggling to keep his expression composed. He reached up and loosened the knot of his tie with one hooked finger. “I’ll give you half a point for that, but that’s the last clue you’re getting,” he said, cocking an eyebrow.
“Clue to what?”
“The games people play.”
“I’ve been in these clothes for eighteen hours, the last six bent over my desk doing paperwork. Six hours, Barba. I’m sweaty, sticky, tired…”
“Come as you are, as you were, as I want you to be.”
She hesitated. “Did you really just quote Nirvana?”
He narrowed his eyes. “Here we are now, entertain us,” he said, pulling his tie over his head and tossing it toward the chair.
She felt a pleasant flutter in her stomach, an automatic response to the heat in his gaze. “What are you doing?” she asked, although she thought she was finally catching on.
“Dirty deeds done dirt cheap,” he said.
She laughed, although her humor was still mixed with a significant dose of annoyance. “If quoting AC/DC is your idea of romance…” she said, shaking her head.
He shrugged out of his blazer and dropped it over the back of the chair. “You’re in my heart, you’re in my soul. You’ll be my breath should I grow old. You are my lover, you’re my best friend. You’re—”
“I get it,” she laughed. “You don’t have to quote the whole song.”
His fingers were at his suspender clips, and he was looking at her, silent. Waiting.
She lowered her arms to her sides. Her irritation and tiredness were sliding away. “Rod Stewart?”
With a small smirk, he unclipped his suspenders and flipped them over his shoulders. “You’re my brown-eyed girl,” he said, with a wink of encouragement.
“Uhh,” she said, trying to think. He untucked his shirt and started unbuttoning it. “You know I’m bad at this,” she said.
He paused with his fingers on the last button of his shirt. “I need a lover that won’t drive me crazy,” he said.
“Hey, now, careful,” she said, and he chuckled softly. She walked over and sat on the edge of the bed, once more crossing her arms. Her annoyance was purely an act, now, though. “Mellencamp. Or…Benatar?”
He pulled off his shirt and threw it toward the chair. “Tonight’s the night. It’s gonna be alright.”
“More Rod Stewart? Did you just sit around listening to the oldies station?”
He lifted one foot and peeled off his bright-colored sock. “I like that old time rock and roll.”
“Hmm,” she answered. “Bob Seger, and you’re just giving me easy ones because you want to get naked.”
He smiled, removing his other sock. “I bet you thought that I was soft and sweet.”
She snorted. “Hardly,” she teased.
“Thought an angel swept you off your feet.”
“Really?”
“But I’m about to turn up the heat.” He unbuttoned his fly.
“Is this Adam Lambert?”
“I’m here for your entertainment.” Unzipped, slowly.
“How do you even know that song?” she asked.
He slid his trousers down his hips, and her heart was pounding in her chest. Desire was burning, hot and low in her belly. He lifted one foot, then the other, pulling the pants off. He slung them over the chair and looked at her, standing in his boxers and undershirt.
“I heard it through the grapevine,” he said, and she laughed.
“Marvin Gaye?”
He pulled his undershirt up over his head and offered her a sheepish smile. “Do ya think I’m sexy?” he asked, and she laughed again, holding out a hand.
“Come a little bit closer, you’re my kind of man,” she said.
Grinning, he added, “So big and so strong?” He walked toward her, stopping between her knees, and said, softly, “Jay and the Americans.”
“Really? I don’t even know who—” She stopped, her breath catching in her throat, as his fingers went to the top button of her shirt. She swallowed, holding his gaze.
“It’s okay if you love me,” he said, quietly, holding her gaze as he unbuttoned her shirt. “It’s okay if you don’t. I’m not afraid of you running away, honey, I’ve got this feeling you won’t.”
“Tom Petty,” she managed. He slid the shirt over her shoulders and she pulled her arms out. He tossed it over his shoulder in the direction of the chair, and she smiled. “I want you, show me the way,” she muttered. They both knew she wasn’t good at this game, but that didn’t matter.
“Peter Frampton,” he said, and she got slowly to her feet. He didn’t back up, and they were close, their bodies almost—but not quite—touching. They were eye to eye, heart to heart, toe to toe. He reached down without looking and unfastened her trousers. “Do you wanna make love? Or do you just wanna fool around?” he asked, his voice low as he pushed her pants over her hips.
“Is that a song?” she asked breathlessly as the trousers pooled around her ankles. She stepped out and kicked the slacks aside. She was standing in her bra and underwear, and socks.
“My eyes adore you,” he murmured, lifting a hand to tuck her hair behind her ear.
She smiled and said, “Four Seasons. Which you know I know, since you dragged me to see Jersey Boys.”
Smirking, he reached behind her back and unhooked her bra with a twist of his fingers. “Tell me what you want, what you…” He paused for dramatic effect and raised his eyebrows. “…really, really want,” he finished.
“You did not just quote the Spice Girls?”
He grinned at her, but he didn’t remove her bra. She was so caught up in her desire, wrapped in the heat between them, that it took her a moment to understand that he was waiting for permission. She could barely remember the bad mood with which she’d arrived, or the tiredness. The light in his eyes had given her a burst of energy, and his arousal, caged only by the thin material of his boxers, had awakened an answering ache of desire inside of her.
“Let’s just kiss ‘til we’re naked,” she suggested, and she saw his surprise. A small frown creased his brow. “Ah, I stumped you,” she murmured. “Thank Rollins for a little ‘Versace on the Floor,’ huh?” She reached up and stripped off her bra, dropping it to the floor.
He tipped his head, covering her mouth with his, and she stepped closer, pressing up against his body. His fingers slid into her hair, and she accepted his tongue willingly—eagerly—into her mouth. Her hands went to his waistband, but she hesitated. After a moment, he broke away from her mouth and pulled back to look at her.
“I didn’t earn it yet,” she said, and his lips curved into a smile.
“Baby, let’s lay down and dance?” He could tell that she didn’t know the answer. He considered. “I wanna rock and roll all night?”
“Kiss.”
“Okay,” he said, and she was laughing as he once more claimed her mouth. She sank back onto the bed, and he followed her down, his lips on hers and his hand in her hair. He moved his mouth to her jaw, and she tipped her head up so he could kiss her throat. She shivered beneath him. “I wanna kiss you all over,” he murmured against her skin. “All over again, ‘til the night closes in.”
“Um,” she said, trying to think of lyrics as she slid her hands over the warm skin of his back. “I’m so excited?”
He laughed, lifting his head to look down at her, his eyes sparkling with humor. “You are so beautiful to me,” he said, softly.
“What was the one about making love?”
“Do you wanna make love, or do you just wanna fool around?”
“Both,” she said, and he grinned. “Raf?”
“Hmm.”
“I love you more today than yesterday,” she said, holding his gaze. “But…”
He was still smiling. “Not as much as tomorrow,” they finished in unison, and he lowered his head. He hesitated, his lips hovering just above hers, and asked, “Does this mean you’ve traded in your ticket to sleep for a…ticket to ride?”
She was still laughing when he kissed her.

“No Mistakes, Only Happy Accidents” – An Interview with Stray Monroe
With their newest track, Stray Monroe establish themselves as “completely different musicians”. In honor of the release of their new single/music video, we spoke to the four components of the San Diego based indie rock band about their new sound, their goals, and risking everything for music.
What is the difference in sound between ‘Take It Fake It’ and ‘Happy Accidents’?
Blake: We matured a lot as musicians on this single, both individually and collectively. This was the first time we thought about the song as a whole rather than individual parts. I think the lyrics are a lot more relatable and true to life as well.
‘Take It Fake It’ was written before Brett (bassist) joined the band.. and it was also the first song that Colin, Adam and I wrote together… so from then to now, I’d say we’re totally different musicians. We’re really starting to refine our craft.
Why the title Happy Accidents?
Adam: We really enjoyed Bob Ross and his idea of “There are no mistakes, only happy accidents.” We liked the quote so much, we decided to name the song after it.
Tumblr media
What’s the song about? What inspired it?
Blake: It’s about growing up. You’re afraid, everything in your life is changing and you try to find some solace in the unknown. Personally, I was watching all of my friends graduate college and land dream jobs when I was still unsure of my own place in life. I feel like I faced this big unknown of what comes after school… like, where do I land?
I’m sure a lot of people can relate to that! Where would you guys like to land? Blake: Brett is the sharpshooter so I’ll let him answer this one. [Laughs]
Brett: The best part about the four of us is how all share the same goal. And while I think the ultimate landing goal is to be able to make a living playing music and touring, right now we are more focused on making individual connections with people.
Speaking of connections with people, does your music have a target audience?
Colin: I would say that this new single is our way of branching out a little bit, trying something new, and hopefully reaching a wider audience. Blake: Our target audience is anybody who loves catchy and melodic indie music. For sure, I’d say our music is geared to a younger audience, but we don’t want to place a barrier on who listens to us. We definitely tried to write with a broader pallet in mind on this single, while staying true to our roots. I hope we can cast the net further this time around. You’ve told Pure Nowhere what your musical influences are, but since your music is geared to a younger audience, what music did you guys enjoy when you were (even) younger? Blake: Oh man… I’m not afraid to say I loved ‘Backstreet Boys’ when I was 5/6 years old. Some of my favorite bands before I picked up a guitar were ‘Blink 182’, ‘Linkin Park’, ‘Green Day’, pretty much anything late 90s and early 00s that used to be on MTV Videos (RIP). Adam: I think we all come from a diverse musical background. I grew up listening to a mixture of classic bands like ‘AC/DC’ and ‘Led Zeppelin’ combined with ‘The Strokes’ and ‘Oasis’. We all kind of had that 2000’s phase of rock as well. Brett: I still jam out to ‘Linkin Park’ and ‘A Day To Remember’. Colin: ‘The Who’ were the first band I remember obsessing over as a kid. Blake: I remember listening to a lot of Marvin Gaye driving in the car with my mom too.
Tumblr media
When did you realize you wanted to be musicians? Blake: I think I was 14. Noel Gallagher is the reason I kept with the guitar; his music helped me realize you don’t need to be classically trained to make good music, you just need some ability and lot of self-belief and drive. Adam: I picked up the guitar at 16. All of my friends were in bands and I wanted to be part of that, so I bought my first record, ‘Back in Black’ by ‘AC/DC’, and was amazed by Angus Young. Been inspired by him since. Colin: I started playing music in elementary school as soon as I had the option. The first time I remember wanting to pick up some sticks and play the full set was the first time I heard ‘Brianstorm’ by Arctic Monkeys. Brett : I think I was 12. Until this point I had always played sports, but what made me like music so much is the idea that there’s no opponent, it’s just me vs. myself. It all comes down to how hard I’m willing to work. What’s a question you’d really like to answer that nobody’s ever asked you yet? Blake: I think for me it would be “why do you choose to do something where you put your heart and soul into it (being in a band and making music) when there’s no guarantee that you’ll ever have success? Like less than 1% of bands ever taste that success.” Brett: I’ve actually always wanted to be asked this question. Thank you. I am now complete.
Have you guys risked everything for Stray Monroe? Blake: We all have risked A LOT being this band. Forgoing a better job, missing out on friends and parties (for shows, practicing, band stuff, etc..), pursuing a “normal” life. We put our heart and soul into this band because we believe in our music and our ability to make this a career. Brett: All four of us have made sacrifices for the band, but we all believe they serve a bigger purpose. Nothing that’s worth doing will ever be easy.
Tumblr media
What do you love about music? What IS music to you? Colin: At the end of the day, it’s that indescribable feeling you get when you’re jamming with your band mates and everything just seems to work. When all the parts compliment each other so well, and you don’t even have to give it a second thought. Blake: To me, music is about telling a story and connecting with your audience. It brings people together. Music is my life in every single way and I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way. The feeling I get when I hear a song, or get in a room with my three brothers… it’s priceless. Adam: Music to me is an expression of who someone is. People want to express themselves and music is a perfect way to do that. I want people to hear our music and relate to it in some way. Just like how I feel when I hear music, I want to hear their expressions. Brett: I don’t think what makes music so special can be put into words. It’s something you have to feel.
If you could describe yourselves with one of your lyrics, which lyric would you choose? Adam: “Because you wanted it more but you got even less.” Colin: I make up all these stories, and I tell everyone I’m a big rock star.” Blake: “Love it all, love without a name. I am I lost, I don’t know my place. Where do I wait?” This is just the start of the ‘Stray Monroe’ journey, are you coming along for the ride? Check out their new single Happy Accidents on Spotify, Apple Music and other platforms. Find the band on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and SoundCloud.

Nancy Drew 2x2
Me in my naïveté: surely, the Nancy Drew writers, the best writers the CW has on staff, have run out of ways to bring back past moments and episodes that seemed unimportant at the time.
ND writers: Bitch you thought?
Y’ALL
When I say tonight’s episode made me absolutely lose my actual goddamn mind that is not in any way an exaggeration. My brain physically pried itself out of my skull and ran away down the street.
Jesus Jedediah Christ the way they brought back those five people/ghosts who at the time seemed absolutely unimportant and sent me so entirely off my rocker if I even attempt to think about it for more than two seconds I’ll spontaneously combust so we’re going to have to work around it.
First off, no surprise: HANNAH GRUEN. My bae. My wife. Love of my life. You were only there for two minutes but they were exquisite.
Second I fucking KNEW that dude from the Marvin funeral episode was important. If you’ll recall from my review my theory at the time was that maybe HE killed Owen, but you know what this was so much better.
Okay, to business. At the beginning when Nancy is seeing all of the scratches on Douglas Marvin’s grave and then we zoom out to kind of see the Aglaeca in the side of the frame, and then zoom out more and it turns around and LOOKS at us doing that creepy little swaying thing? POETIC CINEMA. Riverdale wants what Nancy Drew has.
That “unfortunate first meeting” George had with Nick’s mom and her subsequent attempts to prove herself, culminating in Millie giving her the dumpling recipe? Adorable. Speaking of the mom, I do indeed hope we see more of her. Her and Nick’s moment at the end of the episode where he talked about seeing her cry in the courtroom absolutely broke my heart. I can’t handle the thought of him not at the very least having the occasional phone call with her from this point onwards.
To be entirely honest almost every scene with the mom broke my heart. When she was talking about how she and her husband raised Nick to always do everything right and lost him anyway? Hhhhhhhhhhhhh it hurts. The writers said they would be keeping BLM in mind while writing this season, like how they kept Me Too in mind for the first one, and I was a little worried it would be hamfisted. But if they continue as they did tonight it will be nothing but beautiful.
Guys. Guys. I know I said I had no idea how to talk about it but I have to talk about it. That scene in the orphanage. When they find the photo. And Nancy realizes she has seen all of those ghosts before.
Tumblr media
GUYS.
EPISODE 3.
SINCE EPISODE THREE THE WRITERS HAVE BEEN PLANNING THIS.
GODDAMN DO WE LOVE CONTINUITY AND FOLLOWING THROUGH ON PLOT LINES AND WRITERS WHO KNOW WHAT THE FUCK THEY’RE DOING. I WANT TO FIND THE SHOWRUNNER AND KISS THEM ON THE MOUTH.
Ahem.
Anyway.
I thought Carson and Ace had some really nice moments this episode. i.e. “The guy at the store said it was a one man job.” “I think the guy at the store lied to you.” I am, however, curious if Nancy is going to ever bring her father in on the fact that supernatural beings exist and that she deals with them on the reg. Like I know he helped them out with the coma ritual with McGinnis (McGinnis come back 😭😭😭) but they never really brought it up with him again, and he’s been like kept out of the loop on it all ever since. I’m just wondering if he in fact actually knows and is just remarkably calm all the time, or if he’s in denial, or what. But tbh I do have a very strong amount of sympathy for Carson, and I really want him and Nancy to get back on good terms. At the end of the episode when she brought him the coffee and stuff I teared up a little. I’m an adult, I can admit it. Maybe it’s just because I’m such a massive fan of the books, where she and her dad were so close, but having them at odds especially after they started out that way, is painful.
Speaking of the books.
Fernwood orphanage. Hhhhhh writers I see what you did there. But for those of you who don’t know, in Nancy Drew #9 The Sign of the Twisted Candle, Nancy Bess and George stop at a roadside inn/bed and breakfast type place. At the inn is a 100 year old man named Ada Sydney who Nancy befriends, along with a young orphan waitress named Carol Wipple whom Ada has a soft spot for. The next day he dies, and turns out Carson is his lawyer and Nancy goes with him for the will reading. Long story short, Carol is apparently his granddaughter and he leaves her like EVERYTHING, but when she was young she grew up at, drumroll please!
FERNWOOD ORPHANAGE. I AM DECEASED.
And the Stratemeyer woods? For the same people, Stratemeyer Syndicate was the place that published all the Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, Bobbsey Twins, Tom Swift books, etc. You will not be able to find them today however, as they were bought by Simon and Schuster in like 1987.
Back to the show.
When Detective Tamura (aka The Inferior McGinnis Who Can Rot In Hell) said the skeleton was Buddy and NOT KJ (AJ? I’m deaf) I got suspicious. And then as soon as they played the record and only five ghosts showed up, I was all ‘HOLY SHIT HE IS ALIVE’ and then he WAS. At the end of the episode, when they saw the flowers on the graves? You guys I was LOSING. MY MIND. And then the note saying “forgive me -kitsune” aaaaaaah. I am in fact afraid that he wants forgiveness because he sacrificed the others to save himself, but I am praying the writers do not do that to me.
I’m interested in finding out, assuming we meet KJ/AJ next episode, WHY the 1975 group reached out to the Aglaeca in the first place. Nancy and Crew did it because they needed Lucy Sable’s bones from 20 years ago to get Carson off the hook for murder, I am assuming these guys had at least as good a reason. And the Aglaeca herself. Dear god you guys. Odette Marvin. I’ve been saying and we’ve all known for a while, that she was wronged by the Marvin family. But Lordy that’s extreme. Listening to the overlaying recording? They low key abducted her, stole her fortune, her chaperone and the captain betrayed her, she was presumably bound hand and foot had her head shaved and got thrown into the ocean. I think I might be a little murderous too ngl. Although it begs the question, why exactly did Douglas Marvin have her painted into the hall of tragedies? I don’t think it was to gloat. Maybe Odette haunted him after the fact and added herself into the painting? But my favorite theory is that Odette as the Aglaeca started killing all the people who were in on it, her chaperone, the captain, etc., (I assume there were six) and Douglas saw the others dying and painted her into the portrait as a way to warn future generations of Marvins, rather than fess up to what he had done. I also want to know the deal with the first women to summon her, and the mirror? There is potential there I KNOW IT.
If you’re not a Drewson shipper feel free to skim this paragraph but guys Nick and Nancy are soulmates it’s confirmed. I’m not even kidding guys I was in no way shape or form prepared for the amount of Nick x Nancy content I got tonight. When Nick is at her house and they mention how they skipped friendship the first time around? “We skipped a lot of things the first time around.” DEAD. And then later at the Claw, when Nancy and not George came to comfort him post fight with the mother? And then he saw that look Nancy gets where her eyes flit around cause her mind is working overtime? *chef’s kiss* My prediction is they will spend this season building up a strong, solid, foundational Nancy x Nick friendship and then when they give the romance a second go they will be so. much. stronger. I’m guessing season 3 will be spent in a bit of a complicated love triangle with Nick and Nancy (re)developing feelings for each other while still having them for George and Ace, making the eventual payoff all the more delightful.
I close this review - which was admittedly less of a review and more of me shrieking incoherently - off with a plea to the writers.
*eyes turn black*

Nancy Drew 2x5
It’s official everybody: love conquers all
Okay WOW I cannot believe this was the original Nancy Drew season finale and that I had to wait an additional eleven months to see this episode I am suing the coronavirus for emotional distress. Because let me tell you this was one of the best season finales I have seen in a WHILE. And once again the writers have swaddled me in a safety blank and assuaged all of my concerns. I was a little worried when they made Odette a wlw because then that meant a lesbian was hunting down the good guys and would have to be killed, but MORE THE FOOL WAS I. I should have learned by now not to doubt the Nancy Drew writers.
Every single plot thread was wrapped up and a whole host of new ones were set up and I cannot wait to dive into all of them.
First off I would like to say that everything about the scenes with the Aglaeca coming to kill them was perfection. The five-way phone call, the deathbed confessions, the soft French singing and ominous chain rattling. And then when she APPEARED on the hood of the car like Dead Lucy appeared to Nancy on top of her car to tell her to summon the Aglaeca aaaah parallels and Nick and George held each other. “oh where is she, where is she” SHE’S RIGHT BEHIND YOU! The fire leaping out at Bess, the meat hook cutting Ace, Nancy falling from the bluffs. And then the crew reconnects back at the Claw thinking all is well but OH NO WHAT’S THIS ANOTHER PORTENT.
Hey how is it the entire gang seems to have forgotten that they willingly volunteered for this whole Aglaeca mess. Like I get it, your lives are on the line, you’re scared, but Nancy was all “no I cannot let you guys summon the Aglaeca with me it’s far too dangerous absolutely not” and they were all “psh danger fuck danger we have the power of friendship” and went right on ahead. And now that they have to face actual consequences they’re all “Nancy I cannot believe you put a gun to our heads and forced us into this how dare you” like GUYS. But yeah that scene caused me pain, with them all yelling at each other. I do think it’s interesting that proverbial lines in the sand have been drawn. Generally speaking whenever there are massive disagreements I’ll be watching to see if it stays as George and Nick v Bess and Ace with Nancy as the sort of swing vote.
Also because I am a Drewson shipper until I die it was satisfying to see that Nick, despite being in love with George, still has unresolved feelings about what went down with him and Nancy. We love unresolved feelings, and once Nancy learns how to communicate and be more open they will find their way back to each other and be even more in love.
The writers continue their never ending tally of taking seemingly unimportant moments from past episodes and making them SO IMPORTANT. NANCY HAVING THE PORTENT IN RYAN’S CAR??? *SCREEEEAAAAAAMS* And then speaking of the car. Oh my god you guys. Ryan and Carson the dad duo was peak comedy. I was legit dying. On the topic of parental figures
Hannah Gruen: Nancy no!
Nancy Drew: Nancy yes!
BABE. SHE LITERALLY TOLD YOU NOT TO OPEN THE DEATH BOXES AND YOU DIDN’T EVEN WAIT LIKE SIX HOURS BEFORE BLATANTLY DISOBEYING.
I know some people who watched the episode are probably going to be like “are you kidding me they beat the angry sea spirit with the power of love? Ugh pathetic” but no actually you’re wrong and it was BEAUTIFUL. Not just the concept but the execution. The lights going out one by one, the Aglaeca popping up and screaming, throwing them across the room one at a time, the words having to come from the heart, Nick speaking French he can speak French to me all day long, the Aglaeca melting and Odette rising once more. BRUH.
And then of course the blood bucket curse came to fruition and George fucking died and I was losing my mind only for Nancy to fucking revive her because THAT won't have consequences. And George talking about her sisters was so sweet I thought it might give me a cavity, and her with them in the morning. Quick question though. We know Victoria is around because she gave them the inhuman sea spirit banishing ritual like five days ago, soooo where is she now? Like George is about to die and she hardly gives her mom a spare thought aside from making sure Jessie will be able to take care of their sisters. Nancy had a fucking beautiful moment of reconciliation with Carson, couldn’t George have at least exchanged some kind words with her own mother?
Moving ahead we have sooo many plot lines to talk about I can’t wait.
The Bobbsey twins are coming back. Don’t know how I feel about that yet.
We have Ace with the sibling in Witsec. Now I know like the entire fandom wants Ace to be a Hardy brother, but here’s the thing. Ace has apparently never met this person and his dad doesn’t have any of that tortured ‘I’m-missing-my-child’ vibe going on, so I’m thinking maybe it’s Ace’s half-sibling. Like he’s half a Hardy. Cause also why would just the one kid go into Witsec and not the whole family? Maybe his mom had a baby as a teenager and gave them up for adoption, maybe his dad had an affair and didn’t realize it ended up as a pregnancy. Who’s to say???
We have Nick and Ryan (and possibly Nancy) taking down the Hudson empire. Nick is going to commit to honoring Tiffany’s dying wish and with Ryan as his man on the inside, he can hopefully actually do it. Nancy will probably also have a role in this storyline, because as evidenced by Ryan taking the flash drive she’s going to be the driving force behind Ryan listening to his conscience. And then of course we will have Nancy’s whole my-DNA-is-evil struggle, and her wanting to prove she’s not a bad person. Separate from the Hudsons (potentially) Nancy will also be working for her father this season as he regrows his law practice, and it will be so nice to see them finally have a good relationship again.
We have The Possession of George 2: Electric Boogaloo. This possession, if that’s even what it is, is very clearly different from the last one with Tiffany. George is still in control, and she’s not switching back and forth between herself and Tiffany like last time, she just has some new personality traits or whatever. The next episode summary includes Nick being concerned about George’s behavior, so I’m guessing some of the changes will be pretty obvious. But it probably isn’t something that’ll be fixed right away it’ll take a while. And I also don’t think Odette possessed her on purpose? Like she had given up the Aglaeca and seemed ready to move on, and then we see her in the mirror. Maybe there’s something she has to do regarding her girlfriend, like she has to find the Englishwoman’s ghost? Because the public story is Odette got married on the ship and died, what if her lady love thinks Odette forsook her or something and Odette wants to make it right? Last but not least I have said it before I’m saying it again I want George to develop psychic powers like her mother. Come on writers she’s not even cousins with Bess at least give me this.
Bess is going to try and stop stealing and some other stuff I’m sure and maybe learn about Marvin family skeletons and hopefully start dating Amaya??? Pleeeease???
We still have no idea what Det. Tamura’s purpose here is and I for one continue to want McGinnis back.
And then of course we have like fifty million horrors that Nancy just unwittingly unleashed on the previously sleepy town of Horseshoe Bay, and I absolutely cannot wait to see where that goes.
Hmm yeah that seems just about everything, except for I feel like there’s something I’m missing, something I'm forgetting, something important that’s slipped my mind. Oh, that’s right.

Nancy Drew S2 Premieres Today
Please find under the cut my various hopes and dreams for the characters
Bess
I have so many hopes for Bess going forward. My main two are ones you will have heard before.
One, I want Victoria to take Bess under her wing. I loved their interactions in ep 5 while George was possessed. George accepts spn stuff these days, and as such is more understanding of her mom’s struggles with alcoholism. But I think she will always have a certain degree of resentment towards Victoria for failing to be the mother George and her sisters needed. Bess on the other hand has none of that baggage, and so if Victoria is going to be passing down her teachings to anyone I think it would be Bess. I want to see them spending more time together, sort of like an internship, and maybe Bess can advocate to George about her mom, and help them become closer.
Two, I have a very specific storyline I want to unfold with Lisbeth. We know the Marvin family in addition to being super rich is super shady, and Granny Marvin wants Bess to spy on Lisbeth to help the family out. I know Bess is torn between her family and her girlfriend because she has wanted to be a part of the Marvin family for so long, but I don’t think she would actually betray Lisbeth like that. So I want to see a storyline where we as the audience think Bess is betraying Lisbeth, and spying on her and stuff like that, (similar to Ow*n and Nancy’s fake fight in ep 11) and then right as we expect consequences WHAM. It turns out Bess was really spying on her family the whole time for some super illegal murder-y thing that happened, and Granny Marvin or someone else gets arrested. She texts Lisbeth along the lines of “everything went great, see you in an hour!” Only when she gets there Lisbeth is DEAD. And then Amaya helps her through the grief and they bond and fall in love aaaaaaaaah
Three, I’m interested in her London family. They want nothing to do with her anymore, I’m assuming because she insisted on getting to know her mom’s side of the family, but is there more to the story? I would like to find out.
Four, I want her together with Amaya their chemistry is on FIRE sorry not sorry
George and Nick
Since they are dating I’m doing them at the same time, but I have hopes for them separately and together. Starting with George:
One, I want George to start manifesting psychic powers like her mom. I have said it before and I’ll say it again. We got a glimpse of the sorts of things Victoria deals with everyday in the seance episode (ep 7) but George will never truly understand what her mother goes through until she experiences it for herself. Yes she now deals with ghosts and hauntings on a regular basis, but George can turn it off. She can step away and make out with Nick, and manage the Claw, and parent her sisters. Victoria can’t turn it off, and yes that has led to some character/parental failings on Victoria’s part but I still want her and George to have a loving relationship. Imagine George starts seeing visions and spirits and things she can’t turn off or walk away from, and finally understands how and why her mom is overwhelmed. And then imagine Victoria becoming incensed and heartbroken, because her abilities have made a mess of her life and she in no way shape or form wants it for her daughter. She immediately teaches George all the control she can, how to shut it off or block them out, and together she and George find new (sober) ways of dealing.
Two, I want to meet the Fan dads. George has two sisters, Ted and Jessie, and the three of them all have different dads. I would be fine with meeting any of them. And it would make an interesting storyline if it turns out one of the dads had no idea he had a daughter? I’m not married to any particular storyline, but there’s a lot of potential there and I want to see what the writers do with it. Onto Nick:
One, as is the case with everyone else, I want to know more about his family. They are all just chilling in Florida, and to our knowledge have never tried to meet up with their son who is now out of prison for a while now which is odd. I know from the episode description in 2x2 that his mom is going to come up for a visit, and I cannot wait to see how it plays out. He mentioned being the black sheep of the family (ep 11 I think) and the writers can’t just drop a line like that and not delve into it, come on.
Two. I know this is super random but I want him to get some sort of stable living situation. He has like 5 million bucks worth of bearer bonds he can’t just sleep on George’s couch for the rest of the show. Plus Harbor Day is over which means the hotels and stuff have opened up. I want him to have a home, is that so wrong of me? A space he can make his own and fill with classical novels and have sex with Nancy?
It’s not as specific as my Bess wish but I know how I want George and Nick’s relationship to go.
I want them to fall apart slowly against their wishes. I mentioned this in one of my earlier reviews. There is so much potential for angst here you guys. I want them to try and stay together because they do like each other, and are attracted to each other, and care about each other, but it’s just not enough. I want Nick to have situations where he consistently goes to Nancy over George for her help and neither of them really understand why. I want George to be desperate to hold onto him because she’s never really been with a guy like Nick before where she doesn’t have to hide and she likes that feeling. But despite their best efforts, it’s just not enough and they both realize it’s just not meant to be, and sadly let each other go.
Also I want Bess and George to be cousins no I will never shut up about it
Ace
Honestly Ace as a character is perfection. The writers could do anything with him and I would support it. Go crazy guys.
Although if he ended up with George I wouldn’t be opposed...
Ryan Hudson
Just two wants, and I probably won’t get either of them, but here it is.
One, we never saw how Ryan and George got together, and I’m hoping they can find a way to make it slightly less blegh. Like maybe their first run in was as a waitress/customer at the Claw, and she knew he was married but made out with him anyway, and then he pursued her after finding out she was in high school because he was already attracted to her. I despise Aria x Ezra and didn’t watch past season 2 of PLL but maybe they could do it like that, where he didn’t actually know she was 17 at first.
Two, now that they have officially established the George/Ryan thing was fucked up and in no way George’s fault and that it messed her up big time, I want Ryan to make amends. I want him to apologize to George, and have him understand that yes he wronged her, and took advantage of her, and he shouldn’t have done it. They’ll never be on great terms, but considering he is Nancy’s father hopefully they can at least get to a place where they are civil with each other, and he is always willing to help her out when she needs it.
Nancy Drew
NANCY. My girl. My babe. My daughter. Lucy’s daughter. Whatever shall we do with you.
One, no surprise here, I want Nancy to get back on good terms with Carson. I heard in an interview, I don’t remember where nor do I have the link, that Carson is going to be practicing law again this season and Nancy is going to be doing some sleuthing for him in regards to some cases. Nancy is a rational human being, and I am confident given enough time she will understand that her father was really doing what he thought was best, and trying to do right by Lucy and fulfill her dying wishes, and she’ll be able to forgive him.
Two, I want her and Ryan to get to an amicable relationship. Nancy has so many (justified) negative feelings towards Ryan, what with his whole being a rich sleaze who had an affair with a 17yo, but really as the first season went on Ryan became more and more of a sympathetic character. Now I’m not delusional, I know he’s not going to morph into an ideal father figure overnight. But I want him to work to be a part of Nancy’s life, and I want Nancy to let him. I want her to understand that yes Ryan has fucked up a lot of times, but he is capable of growth and redemption. And slowly but surely, despite her best efforts, he weasels his slightly smarmy little way into her heart. If we’re getting specific maybe Nancy can be abducted (again) and Carson and Ryan have to team up to rescue her.
Three, Nancy forgive Kate. She’s dead and she loved you and she was your mother whether or not she gave birth to you. Come on, you can do it.
Four. *deep inhale* Listen. I understand I am firmly in the minority here in a fandom filled with Nancy/Ace shippers, but I want Nick and Nancy to happen. As George and Nick slowly fall apart, I want Nancy to resist being there for Nick, to tell him he should really be going to George with these problems, and maybe they have a moment where Nancy falls off a step and Nick catches her and they’re super close for a second before JUMPING apart and immediately avoid each other for a while. I want Nancy to have feelings and fight them because she and George are on good terms and she knows Nick is good for George, and doesn’t want to do anything to jeopardize that friendship or their relationship.
Five, apparently Nancy is getting a new love interest 2 days after Ow*n’s death and I may have hated him but she was fairly into him and as such I am not here for it. Go away new love interest. We don’t want you here.
Dead Lucy
I don’t care in what capacity she is present but listen I NEED my dead traumatized daughter in this show okay? Dead Lucy is my hands down favorite character and I love and support her and if she moves on or finds peace or whatever after sticking around for 20 years just because I will RIOT. But specific wants, just a couple.
One, I have a scene in my head. It is a very specific scene. Nancy is on the bluffs and she turns around, and Lucy is there. Not screaming, not haunting, just there. Nancy is afraid to move, afraid to blink, afraid to breathe. But slowly, she walks up to Lucy. Lucy is standing there, bedraggled and dead, staring at her daughter who grew up to be so beautiful. Nancy is right in front of her. Lucy slowly lifts a hand to touch her cheek and Nancy gasps a little because she can’t quite feel it, not really, but almost. She whispers ‘hi mom’ and closes her eyes, there’s a wind, and Lucy is gone.
Two, I want a Lucy vs Aglaeca showdown. I have no idea what they have planned for the Aglaeca origin story, and it’s fairly likely she will have been victimized by the Marvin family somehow, but right now she is going after Nancy and Lucy is not going to stand for it. Aglaeca shows up to try and take their souls and then Lucy goes all Molly Weasley on her ass and does that deathly scream thing and TACKLES the Aglaeca, and then screams her off just like “NOT MY DAUGHTER YOU BITCH.” and buys the Drew Crew time to do whatever Aglaeca banishing ritual they need to do. That would be nifty.
That’s it
Wow this post turned out to be a lot longer than I expected but there you have it. Hit me up in the notes or in my asks, lmk what you guys want to see for season 2. Oh but please bare in mind, I do live in CA and so see this show three hours after anyone living on the East Coast, and will be actively avoiding spoilers.
Can’t wait until tonight when 2x1, The Search for the Midnight Wraith airs. Stay tuned for my review xo

A Break from Anti
With a sigh, Nems glanced over at the group thinking before looking outside
“I’m so sick of him doing this”
Jack grumbled holding themselves as they sat at the window
“But it’s not like we can do anything, you can but we can’t”
Angela mentioned and Jack glanced over rubbing their arm with a sigh
“Why not...take a break?”
Nicole suggested and Ace looked over confused tilting their head curiously
“Pfft, that man will hunt us down”
“Anti listens to Dark, if we convince Dark then...he will have too”
“That still confuses me”
Ace whispered rubbing at their neck
“Anti...doesn’t have too, but he does”
Ace said glancing up, everyone didn’t respond as they all took a moment to think
Hearing the front door open Jack glanced up realizing the Septics were back
“...How did you guys...I don’t even wanna know”
“The door was unlocked”
Angela mentioned and Marvin sighed
“Jamie you were supposed to lock it”
“I forgot”
Jamie signed glancing back at Marvin
“Where did you guys go?”
Nems asked curiously glancing at the bag Jackieboy held in his hand
“Well it was supposed to be a surprise but...we were going to do game night and we wanted to invite you guys”
Jackieboy smiled
“Oh, what kind of games?”
Angela asked
“Just random, we didn’t know what to exactly get...guessing Anti doesn’t want to join?”
Marvin asked and Ace shrugged
“He wasn’t really in a good mood so we have no idea”
Jack said and glanced over at Robbie who finally tumbled into the house dragging his leg along
“What happened to him?”
“Robbie fell, but he’ll be okay”
Henrik said and Robbie glanced up giving a small wave shifting quietly
“Well we can come back later, we wanted to try and convince Dark to make Anti let us have a break from everyone”
Nicole said and Jack sits up
“What she means is that we know Anti wouldn’t allow it, but Dark owns them too so he doesn’t have much choice then to listen”
Jack stated and Henrik chuckled taking off his coat
“Well best of luck, it’s hard getting through to that cold-hearted motherfucker”
Henrik said and Ace smiled a bit
“We will, thanks”
Jack said gently as they stood
“Also Jack, be aware Dark seems off today, we visited his city and just...something didn’t seem right”
Marvin warned and Jack glanced at him
“Didn’t seem right? What do you mean?”
Jack asked and Marvin glanced around holding something in his pocket
“I don’t know if it’s Dark or something else but...there’s something bad coming and I know it”
Marvin stated and the five just glanced at each other
“Thank you for the warning Marvin”
Nems said softly, once out of the house the five started to walk quietly all thinking of what Marvin just said
Into Dark’s town, the aura seemed to be slightly off, the skies as if they turned grey everything had a gloomy look to it
“The weather system in this world makes no sense”
Angela mumbled
“It looks like it’s about to rain but it’s hard to tell with...no clouds? Unless we can’t just see them”
“Why wouldn’t we be able to see them?”
Nicole asked curiously
“Well we are the only actual living things here...none of us are dead from what I know”
Nems said and Ace nodded
Glancing ahead at the building Ace felt uneasy, once inside the aura completely shifted back to normal
“Wh-I’m so confused”
Jack sighed as they waited for the elevator
“You think they would just buy out this building already, hell over 20 people are living on the same floor”
Nems sighed, once on the proper floor Ace glanced around as everyone was doing their own thing
“We have to find Dark, but where would he be?”
Nicole said and Ace kept walking and the others just followed, taking a moment of listening they walked towards the cafeteria
“He’s in here, I can hear him”
Ace said softly, glancing around they spotted Dark with the rest of his family just eating
“But that isn’t fair”
Lumi groaned as she sat next to Faith who giggled in response
“And well that’s life”
Wilford smirked taking a sip of his drink
“But my birthday is literally in a few weeks”
Lumi pouted and Dark smiled a bit moving his glass in small swirls watching the wine move around in his cup
“And you’ll get one in a few weeks”
Dark mentioned
Ace shifted uncomfortably unsure of how to even get Darks attention
“Let’s just wait in the hall”
Nems said softly and the five went into the hall, after awhile Dark finally came out and noticed them
“Well hello”
He said and Angela glanced up
“We have a question to ask…”
Jack said softly and Dark glanced around before fixing his hair
“My office”
Dark said and turned on his heel starting to walk, the others followed and Ace glanced at Dark realizing his cane isn’t even with him
In his office, Dark sits down glancing at the five curiously
“What did you want to ask?”
He asked and everyone glanced at Jack
“Well jeez”
Jack mumbled
“We wanted to ask if you could...convince Anti to give us a break...like be away from the house for a decent period”
Jack said and Dark glanced at them thinking for a moment rubbing at his beard
“And where do you five plan to go?”
Dark asked and Ace shrugged
“We didn’t think that far, somewhere…”
“If I managed to convince him, you five are now allowed out of any of our boundaries understood? It is rare to find humans in this world so you will be hunted”
Dark stated bluntly and Angela sighed
“Don’t you have somewhere safe we could go?”
Angela asked
Dark sat back thinking for a moment
“East of the city is a cabin I had specifically made for the girls, you can rest there”
Dark said and Jack nodded
“Thank you”
Jack said, after a while of waiting Dark found the five just sitting in the meeting room
“I’ve convinced him, go”
Dark said, the five glanced at each other then nodded
“Alright, let's do game night then head there”
Angela said, the five left and made it back to the Septics house
During game night everyone seemed to be having fun
Marvin and Ace were silent and Ace glanced out the window thinking
“Are you two okay?”
Jackieboy asked and Ace glanced over giving a small nod
“I just feel uneasy, it’s okay…”
They whispered watching the others continue the game
By the time it was to go everyone said their goodbyes before heading off towards where the said cabin is
