okey dokey! i just finished the fallout show! some Thoughts under the read more
tl:dr, the (bethesda) fallout vibes were definitely there. i liked it as a show on its own merits but as a part of the series canon... i'm mad, and that anger is kind of overriding the little i liked about it. overall maybe 2.5/5 stars and im being generous
things i liked:
visually, it's stunning - i could see scenes already being made into gifsets - the color grading is pretty good; even in dark scenes i could see and understand what was happening
the sets are soooo good!! costume design was alright too
title cards were fun and cute
they did some interesting stuff with the cultures of both vault 33 and the brotherhood of steel
they used the sound effects from the games :)
i liked the wastelanders!!! big npc and random encounter energy. i kind of want a whole show of just them. for example i love the marketplace and settlement in filly; it feels very lived in
the background characters weren't just young thin able-bodied conventionally attractive white people :) there's so many elders, which i loved!! ma june and barv were cool. i love gruff old lesbians
lucy!!! she was already kind of weird and a little off-putting even in vault 33 ("what's your sperm count" as an opener to the husband she was just arranged married to is WILD) and i like that. she's sweet and bullheaded and surprisingly competent :)
maximus is kind of an ass, but is also a pathetic nerd and brotherhood dickrider who actually doesn't really know anything. kind of a girlfailure
the ghoul was pretty cool too!! i liked him, though more for his prewar story than the one he has post-apocalypse
lucy's brother norman kinda grew on me. "i lack enthusiasm for every job that i do here" so relateable. also short king <3
THE DENTIST THAT BUYS TEETH. never thought that would be a Thing but now that i think about it, it makes sense
the monsters that we have were cool!! wish there had been more of them
MATT BERRY IS IN THIS!! i just really like him so i got excited :))
maximus and lucy's "wanna have sex?" talk LMAO
vault 4's various mutations!!
those giant unwieldy fuckass duffel bags that brotherhood squires lug around hahahhahahaaha
vault 4 and its genetic experiments because its main conceit is that it was ruled by scientists who hybridized humans. it's exactly the right amount of fucked up i want in a vault
i like that the protagonists regularly get captured and eat shit
FRED ARMISEN IS ALSO HERE
haha hacking minigame :) also chatting via terminals (and im assuming pipboys?) is canon now
they're growing crops in the wasteland + bustling trade + livestock + pets yay
robobrain was cute
things i was just ok with:
dane, the they/them brotherhood of steel aspirant who was fucked over so maximus can get their spot as a squire LMAO what a waste of a potentially cool character
IT'S SO FUNNY that there's yodelling whenever the ghoul comes into the scene ????? WHY
fight scenes.... pretty good but someone definitely had the bloody mess perk (i don't do well with gore so ew yucky). also lots of [VATS NOISE]
pipboy was not used as much as i thought it would be
cousin stuff... i get it, i guess in a vault you'd have a lot of cousins and not a lot of choice, so some incest would probably happen
the ghoul being vault boy's inspiration?? not sure what to feel about that tbh
the casual dismemberments... and equally casual attaching of limbs... not even prosthetic limbs.....
the vaulties eating good healthy well-balanced meals. giving out caviar in the welcome basket. kinda 50/50 on it
the vault 31 - 32 - 33 subplot couldve been more fucked up
have brotherhood knights always been celibate or did i miss the memo
there are regular chickens and... deer? for some reason?
the ghoul's design. it's fine in action but mostly it's meh
the vault 4 cult for moldaver
vault 4 as a refuge for shady sands survivors. im mad about it but like. i get it
that guys "elixir" (some altered jet??) fixing everything about thaddeus' foot instantenously AND GIVING HIM HEALING POWERS???
things i did not like:
lucy's plot premise is very much fallout 3 redux
lucy and maximus as a ship is very meh and kind of forced and not compelling. go give us nothing!!!
wilzig's head as a macguffin that everyone is after... ehh kind of just okay as a plot device
also the ghoul randomly eating that other ghoul???
the squire who bullied maximus calls himself fat but he isn't fat?? not even chubby??? hello????? just got a soft face
water chip being fucked feels very fallout 3 also but they kind of dropped it?
they definitely named cooper howard after todd. as tribute probably, which he doesn't deserve
fiend = cannibal now?????
maximus recognizing vault 4 as a cult but not recognizing the brotherhood as one lol
vault tec evil capitalism vs hollywood communists storyline was kind of basic. and bland. and weak
the enclave could've been established + explored better
no geckos or any other west coast-specific monsters
showing me ncr ranger armor when the ncr is gone
ghouls have healing powers?? WITHOUT RADIATION??
things i hated hated hated:
the ghoul needing drugs to combat the Disease That Turns Ghouls Feral
feral ghouls being basically zombies :/
IN EPISODE FIVE. THEY REVEAL. THAT SHADY SANDS. WAS BOMBED. THE ENTIRE NCR. WAS BOMBED. IN 2277. THE YEAR OF THE FIRST BATTLE OF HOOVER DAM
BASICALLY RETCONNED FNV?? IM PUTTING MY EARS IN MY FINGERS AND GOING LA LA LAAAAA
VAULT-TEC DROPPED THE BOMBS ???? BIG MT + MR HOUSE BEING IN ON IT????
THE BIG STUPID FUCKING REVEAL IN EPISODE EIGHT?? THAT THE OVERSEER BOMBED SHADY SANDS BECAUSE HIS WIFE DIDN'T WANT TO GO HOME WITH HIM??? FUCK THAT???
the brotherhood being the main faction of the west coast now. booo!! booo!!!!
the fucking last shot of new vegas being a burnt out husk. probably foreshadowing that hank is going to house's body but. UGH I HATE IT
to summarize: it came out strong! and stumbled hard falling face fucking first at the finish line. i would have liked it a lot more if it did not shit on the west coast as much as it did. because what the FUCK. if it was set literally anywhere else and left the ncr alone i would have liked it more, because on its own, as a self-contained story, divorced from the rest of the fallout series canon, it's not bad!!! it's fun, there's some good bits, it has the ~vibes~ but - and this is a big but - i don't know what it's trying to say. it's all very surface level and the very vague themes i picked up on are not really reiterated in the plot
it's like... the bits that make it fallout are there. vaults. the brotherhood. ghouls. a dog named dogmeat. but there's something lacking. it's like your usual sci-fi post-apocalypse show with a fallout veneer. idk. i like it for what it is but also i hate it for what it's emblematic of. that's all

ok as promised. I had one of these years ago but it was unfortunately lost in a blog purge, but it's actually really important information ESO goes out of its way to hide at every turn, so dear new players:
despite what the game tells you, you should NOT start with any DLC zone, or at least not any DLC zone that was released before Murkmire. As far as I'm aware (and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong), every story DLC after that is fairly self-contained to its own series of chapters, but everything before that was part of a linear plot that spanned multiple years.
Furthermore, ESOs design has for some backwards reason made it so that you are not required to play through base game MSQ first and also skips the initial Coldharbour sequence, both of which are literally the entire setup for the game's plot and why your character is the way they are. This makes things incredibly confusing and everyone I know hates it with a passion.
Therefore, to clear things up a bit:
In all circumstances, you need to do the base game intro, which can be started from the Hooded Figure found in your alliance's starting city (Vukhel Guard -> AD, Daggerfall -> DC, Davon's Watch -> EP). This will have you go through the original tutorial meant for the base game, and will set up the main plot and explain why your character is the way that they are.
iirc, this should immediately plant you in your alliance's initial starting zone, which is where you'll find the start of your alliance's MSQ which will take you through 5 zones. You need to do one from start to finish to start the end Coldharbour sequence. In addition, you need to also do the Harborage quests which is also necessary to enter Coldharbour.
Coldharbour is the end zone for MSQ content, and is the base game's conclusion. You also need to do this entire zone from start to finish, trust me it's good.
It's not necessary but recommended that you play through the Ebonheart Pact MSQ, either as your first or through Cadwell's Silver / Gold (which basically allow you to play through the other Alliance's MSQs as if you started them). You do not need to, but there is a character introduced in EP who will become critically important later and she will recognize if you've met before, and knowing her beforehand helps. If you're wondering, that character is Naryu Virian.
iirc Imperial City is canonically right after Coldharbour, but as it's a DLC centred in Cyrodiil (a strict PvP zone) I never actually did it. If you're okay with missing some things you can skip it - I did, and was perfectly fine.
Orsinium needs to be done first after Coldharbour or Imperial City. It's plot directly sets up the Daedric War storyline, which is the main plot that runs for a while after base game MSQ. Do not play anything else until you've finished Orsinium.
Thieves Guild is for the most part inconsequential and can be played any time or skipped if you want. You cannot skip Dark Brotherhood - you need to play through enough of it to see the Sweet Roll Killer series of quests involving Naryu Virian and Razum-Dar, because this will directly foreshadow the plot going forward.
Morrowind comes after DBH. You need to do BOTH the MSQ AND the Balmora sidequests, which involve Naryu Virian and a character named Veya Releth. Balmora is CRITICALLY important for Summerset, you CANNOT skip it.
Clockwork City follows Morrowind, you need to do its MSQ. CwC sets up Summerset's plot, and leads directly into it.
Summerset is the Daedric War plot's conclusion, and you need to do its MSQ. If you have not done everything I have just told you IN THIS ORDER, you will be missing context. You will not know who the main villain is and why them being there is critically tragic. You will not know the threads that lead to this point. You will not know Summerset was the conclusion to literal years worth of storyline.
You need to play through everything in this order. Do not deviate. Every DLC after this (Murkmire to, as of the time of writing, Necrom) is as far as I'm aware it's own self-contained thing, but this isn't.
TOO LONG, DIDN'T READ: base game tutorial -> alliance MSQ/Harborage -> Coldharbour -> Imperial City if you want -> Orsinium -> Dark Brotherhood + The Sweet Roll Killer sidequests -> Morrowind + Balmora sidequests -> Clockwork City -> Summerset
DO NOT DEVIATE FROM THIS ORDER FOR ANY REASON!

Does beast resent the X-Men?
"What a funny question. What's to resent?"
Tumblr media
So, funny thing - I'm pretty sure that Hank has never really wanted to be an X-Man. He's found meaning in it, of course; he's made some good friends; he met one of the loves of his life through the X-Men; he's been able to do a massive amount of good in the world by being the right X-Man in the right place at the right time.
But it's not a life that's really good or healthy for him, and this dates all the way back to the 60s, if you can believe it.
Tumblr media
This is from Uncanny X-Men #5, in 1964. We haven't even hit double digits yet!
Five issues in, and he already doesn't really want to be there! And it's kind of not hard to see why - his powers are easy to control, he can pass for a human with ease, his genius intellect means he can have his pick of any research project he wants, he has a family that loves him and accepts him, he had a girlfriend before he joined the X-Men. Honestly, Hank's life was pretty good!
But.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He was made a promise that he'd get to change the world in a way that his normal life wouldn't afford him.
It's just that Professor X didn't really tell him that there'd be days like this.
Tumblr media
It's one thing to have to fight a magnetic maniac who's going to throw missiles at you and try to nuke a small country. Fine, whatever, that may well have been in the brochure. But did the Professor ever tell them that they were going to be attacked by the people they were trying to save? Because here's the thing, there are universes where Hank isn't so lucky when things like this happen.
Tumblr media
But hey, this is all part and parcel of being a superhero, right?
Uh, well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
No. No, this is specifically an X-Men problem.
It fucking sucks being an X-Man, dude. It fucking sucks. You work hard, you nearly get killed, nobody appreciates you, and yeah, you and your friends know that it's unfair and that you deserve better, but that doesn't magically make it change, does it?
So, does Hank resent the X-Men, in so far as the actual concept? Yeah, a little bit. He recognises there's a need for them, of course, but actually having to be one fucking sucks! He can do just as much good with the Avengers or the Defenders as he can with the X-Men, maybe even more, so why should he be with the X-Men?
Well.
Because they need him.
Because without Hank McCoy, the X-Men would have been absolutely fucked in the following situations (list is not exhaustive):
The Dark Phoenix Saga (he stopped the police from answering the Hellfire Club calls for assistance, and created the psionic scrambler that gave them a fighting chance against her in their second fight).
Finishing the cure for the Legacy Virus (other geneticists might well have been closing in on solving it, like Kavita Rao, but how many more mutants would have died in the time it took for them to match Hank's speed?)
Stopping Unus the Untouchable from joining the Brotherhood of Mutants and fucking rolling the X-Men way, way back in the day.
Creating the Skrull Legacy Virus bioweapon, which may well have been morally repugnant, but who knows how many more casualties the world and the remaining X-Men would have sustained in a protracted conflict with the Skrulls?
Negotiating peace with Hydra Cap to create New Tian; giving the X-Men time to regroup and save mutants from the Terrigen Clouds; and hey, do you know what Hank's actual most underrated achievements are?
Oh yeah, that time he saved humanity! Solo!
Tumblr media
And that time he saved the Inhumans!
Tumblr media
Like. The X-Men need Hank. They always need him. Hell, you know what I find really fucking funny? Krakoa's very happy to shit all over him, but guess what?
Tumblr media
The flowers that create those lovely miracle drugs that gives Krakoa economic bargaining power? Hank's creation.
Not Sinister's.
Not Moira's. Not Xavier's, not Magneto's, not Storm's, not Cyclops'.
Hank.
They need him.
Hell, they can't even kill Hank without Hank!
Tumblr media
But at least they treat him right, yeah?
Right?
Tumblr media
"Hey, Hank, I know we got you fired from Harvard University because we turned up to your place of work for your help and shit went down, like, instantly, but . . . uhh, not gonna say sorry!"
Tumblr media
"Hey, so, I know that we made you move to Attilan to try and come up with a solution to M-Pox, but since you can't deliver, we're just going to thunderbolt you in the back and lock you in a cage, mmkay?"
Tumblr media
"Have you just tried not having PTSD, Hank? Can you do that for us? I know you're upset that your claws and fur fell out, but, like, the whining's getting to just be a bit much."
Tumblr media
"Hey, so, like, we know you recently lost a finger, got telepathically fucked in the head by Charles' evil twin, and are basically dealing with the mother of all body dysmorphia episodes right now, but have you considered fuck you, we need a poster boy that says it's okay to be a mutant? Because the rest of us are all really pretty supermodels with easily hidden powers and that kinda sends the wrong message, you know?"
There's a moment, that I'm not going to cap, because it comes from Uncanny X-Men #600, during the intervention, where Hank turns around, sees the time displaced X-Men, his fellow teaching staff, his friends (allegedly), and they're all telling him that he's unstable. That he's causing them problems.
Ororo tells him, either you listen to us, or we call SHIELD and have them put you in a box for crimes against nature and science.
And he says, verbatim, "After everything I've done for you - "
The narrative paints him as furious. Obstinate. An asshole.
Except, he's right. He's given them everything he has. And it's not enough for them. He's in obvious pain, he's lashing out, he's emotionally unstable, he's acting irrationally. But they can't even do this right, because this is not how you help Hank. Hank doesn't respond to this, and you'd know that if you fucking cared.
What does Hank respond to?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Care.
Concern.
Love.
Even if you don't read this moment romantically, is it not just fucking startling the difference in Hank's character? All of his 'friends' in a room, he walks out, he leaves, he's furious, because fuck you all, you want to humiliate me like this?
But Simon just. Asks him out for drinks, and he talks, and he talks, and he talks, and he smiles.
Your question was, does Beast resent the X-Men?
I ask you in return - how could he not?
His life would be better if he'd never joined them. And he knows that.

Hi how are you fine I hope,...umm do you have a list of Manga or Anime that I could read or watch? If you have a list to start off with on your blog I would greatly appreciate. I used to read manga all the time but life happened so if you don't mind thank you...Happy Holidays.
I'm still new and haven't seen so much! Here is what I'll do, I'll give you a list of what I've seen and what I thought about it though!! It'll go like this:
Media Title (version I've seen it in, anime or manga, etc): my thoughts
and then you can take them as recs or not lol
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (anime): SO GOOD. It was the second anime I watched ever and it's what really got me hooked. Lol it's just pure good solid story telling and is just truly amazing in every way. I love it so much
Ouran High School Host Club (anime): it was fine. Lol good moments, funny moments, cute moments. Lots of weird ass tropes that I didn't love lol. Good palate cleanser but not my favorite and not one I continued to really spend time thinking about after
Demon Slayer (anime & manga): a new obsession after I watched it. I had to then go read it because I was obsessed with the story and couldn't wait. The most beautiful animation too. Tragic and hopeful and amazing. Made me cry a few times and does flashback so well lol
Yuri on Ice (anime): so good. So cute. So gay. I have posts on this anime on here from when I was watching it. Lmao I'll just link that here. I'm still obsessed.
Spy x Family (anime & manga): I actually read the manga first and then found the anime and it's just so wholesomely wonderful in every aspect. I love the story so much. I love the romance. The slowburn is so slow is painfully good. I ship it SO HARD. The domestic family life of a Spy, assassin and telepath is everything I didn't know I needed
Buddy Daddys (anime): 2 dude (they make a good ship too honestly lol) assassins accidental baby acquisition. It's as funny as it sounds with some surprisingly dark and sad and emotional backstories and moments. Just a really great time. Short and quick watch too. Link to my rec post too
The Yakuzas Guide to Babysitting (anime): it was okay. Lol cute and fun but nothing that stuck with me. Found this one off my Spy Family and Buddy Daddy's high while looking for something similar lol
The Ice Guy and his Cool Female Colleague (anime): cute and fun but man some of the episodes dragged and were a little slow. The romance was just okay too but had some really adorable moments
Sasaki to Miyano (anime): SO CUTE. God the whole premise is the BL romance and the slow burn is soooo slow but istg. The tropes are so good too. The importance to consent is beautiful. Literal BL tropes all over the place as the MCs is a BL fan and introduced his LI to BL lol my rec post here. And my post over a clip of the new movie too.
A Silent Voice (anime movie): excellent movie. Sad as fuck. I cried so much. Lol all the trigger warnings though. Please read the trigger warnings
Your Name (anime movie): excellent movie. I still think about it all the time. I just read a book that pulled inspo from this movie. I had tears STREAMING DOWN MY FACE at the end.
Sk8 the Infinity (anime): so good. So wholesome. So gay (it's canon gay, fight with the wall, I don't care lol) just a little show about skateboarding. Who knew it would be SO GOOD. My rec post. My matchablossom brain rot post
Naurto, Naruto Shippuden (anime): OBSESSED. I watched this show with my partner as part of his "I'm introducing you to anime" series he has for me. Lol and clearly he was going to introduce me to the classics. Yes One Piece and Bleach are on his lists for us to watch together too.
Haikyuu!! (anime & manga): Look, with this being the 3rd sports anime I watched, I'm convinced all sports animes create so many ships low-key on purpose. Lmfao in all honesty though, it's so good. Never in my life would I have imagined getting so invested into volleyball. But here I am.
Jujutsu Kaisen (anime and I'm starting the manga now too): IM SO OBSESSED ITS NO LONGER FUNNY AND THIS SHOW IS SO MEAN LATELY. I had to go buy the manga because I CANNOT HANDLE WAITING FOR NEW EPISODES OH MY GOD. WISH ME LUCK READING I GUESS My post
Bungo Stray Dogs (anime): I started this show for Dazai. Found him on TikTok. Stayed for the weird ass powers and the absolute utter nonsense that is this whole world. Nothing makes sense and we are all just here for the vibes. Yes I fucking love it, thanks lmfao My post
Link Click (donghua): started this on a whim because I got a random rec video on my algorithm and found it on Crunchyroll and I was told it was gay. There is so little gayness in the grand scheme of this show I felt so unprepared for what it was. Lmao I have never in my life had a show hit me so hard in my emotions off the bat EVERY SINGLE TIME. BUT ITS SO GOOD?? I told my husband I start each episode going "so how are you making me cry this time link clink??" The twists twist so hard it hurts, but in a way I love. I need the next season like now. my God.
Blue Eye Samurai (anime sort of): my NEWEST obsession. I NEED SEASON 2 PLEASE. I said sort of about anime because it is animated and it's set in Japan, but it's not from Japan so it's not really an anime.... Lol but it's on Netflix. It's not for children. And it's so good. Go watch it. Only 8 episodes. The story is immaculate. My post
Inuyasha (manga): read the manga and thoroughly enjoyed myself as a super fast and fun read!! Really just there a good time lmao
Yona of the Dawn (manga): SO CUTE and yet intense too. My sister put me on this one as one of the first manga series I started reading and I just ate it all up. If we ignore some of the weirder tropes it throws at you in the beginning, it's just fabulous lol I love it
Mo Dao Zu Shi (donghua): read the books, watched the donghua, watched the live action too lol. The brain rot is SO REAL. Like these characters live rent free forever. Thanks. You can find tons of posts for MDZS and TGCF(heaven Official's blessing) in my master list on my other blog @moonofthesurvivor
Heaven Official's Blessing (donghua): SAME AS MDZS THATS ALL LMAO
No. 6 (anime): loved it, sci-fi dystopian madness and so gay. My rec post here
Given (anime): so gay.... So sad.... So healing... That kiss though! That backstory! The songs are actually so good! I love that it's just a band full of gay people. My post here too
Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess (anime): politics meets isekai (done well) meets lesbian romance, meets magical epic battles and showdowns, meets badass ladies saving the world. Literally everything you could want
Hunter x Hunter (anime): I am watching this one now and have been for a little bit. This is the current one I'm watching with my partner in his list of animes he wants to introduce me too. I'm having SO MUCH FUN with this one but I also am hurting a little. Lol yes he warned me about the ants. Yes I'm not having fun with this arc. Thanks for asking. I can report back when we finish 😂
And for those who will want to know yes, I've got lots on my list to still watch and work through. Lol I'm always open to taking more suggestions though too!!

Would you go into detail about any ideas you have with Scorpion!Kuai Laing and how it could have been handled better
Sure, the best way to handle it would be to let Hanzo Hasashi be the Scorpion and Kuai Liang the cryomancer as they were destined to be because at this point it seems the game didn’t just switched the ice for fire power of his but are robbing both Hanzo and Kuai Liang at the same time: Hanzo, because he was stripped again from his family (and I’m saying it fully wishing to see Harumi as her own character in future games) and sidelined for obscure reference in certain endings and intro dialogues (if lucky, maybe he will introduced in next game) while Kuai Liang is turned into someone he was not - and yes, I always saw him as aro-ace character who himself said to not have time for socializing and was a single for three decades and doing fine with his life but now is thrown into marriage with Harumi who was originally Hanzo’s wife and all the romantic nonsense he did not bothered, seek or care much before. But more than that, Kuai Liang’s previous character development was thrown out of the window and he as the MK!1 Scorpion right away ended as the “final product”, the good, honorable Grandmaster. In past the road to that point demanded from him to face a lot hard truth about Lin Kuei, to deal with his guilt, trauma and grief after losing brother and Smoke, making hard choices like choosing peace with murdered of his brother for benefit of Lin Kuei, Shirai Ryu and Earthrealm instead of seeking revenge. Kuai Liang was a good man in general, no doubt about that, but the wise, honorable sage and loyal Earthrealm Defender came with time, here Scorpion is just, well, he is, not really Hanzo and not really Kuai Liang, something between. He is angry, but does not have the burning anger of Hanzo Hasashi that blinds him to the point other characters (Quan Chi and Kronika) easily manipulate and exploit him. He cares for Bi-Han, but doesn’t seem to have Kuai Liang’s dedication to save/redeem him, like previous versions had for the Noob Saibot, corrupted by dark magic Bi-Han’s soul. Of course, Mortal Kombat 1 is just a new way into the rebooted timeline and only time shows us in what direction the NRS plan to take Scorpion - or Bi-Han and Hanzo for that matter.
But since the game did what it did, my main idea (complain) what could be done better is an actual effort to build the sense of brotherhood between the brothers before the events separated them for good. I don’t mind that Bi-Han was abrasive toward most characters as he quite often was portrayed like that and so were other cryomancers at times. But his betrayal - and Scorpion’s reaction - would have bigger impact if the sibling bond was more flashed out before the tragedy happened (though I would argue with the spreading idea between fans that Bi-Han always acted like the worst jerk toward poor baby Tomas, as what story showed us is the “frustrated Bi-Han” and he snipped at both brothers whenever they mentioned father, while still included Tomas in either taking Smoke to meet Liu Kang and on mission or in his worries [“Are you both unharmed?”], and did not correct Liu Kang in their intro dialogue when Fire Gods specifically said “your brothers” miss him. The conflict and disdain seems to be aimed mainly at Lin Kuei status and/or bloodline however I don’t think we have yet enough idea how Lin Kuei now operate and how they managed switch some much from everyone worth is welcome in previous Lin Kuei to apparently just bloodline matters). Of course, I’m aware the brotherhood would be a hard thing to flesh out with such limited screen time as the story was divided between a quite big cast, however as Johnny and Kenshi proved, the game could and did create the feeling of true comradeship between characters who too were sidelined in later chapters. So I think the best solution would be either leave Bi-Han’s betrayal for the latest part of the story or, alternatively, let Bi-Han’s die, maybe even to make sure his brothers get away, and then bring him as Noob Saibot, giving us both the evil Sub-Zero the game aimed for and Kuai Liang’s more classical grief over killed family and the conflict with corrupted, undead version of Bi-Han. What I think would work nicely through the future games without making still alive Bi-Han a weird mix of Noob and Frost and would not hurt so much compared to what Mileena, Baraka and Reptile got in contrast to Lin Kuei brothers.
Thinking more about it, the game could actually use Kuai Liang’s father in more direct way, as part of Lin Kuei team on mission so Bi-Han, if truly needed to end as betrayer, could let him die during an actual story mode with the future games/lore focusing on Kuai Liang (Scorpion)’s burning anger and desire for justice/revenge - but I’m aware that would be even more complicated to fit into limited story time.
The other thing I think would be much truer to Kuai Liang’s original character is him to fight for control over Lin Kuei to actually uphold traditions he was so devoted to than creating a different clan. Scorpion’s decision of course makes sense within the story but Kuai Liang’s loyalty was always to Lin Kuei first and foremost and if younger Sub-Zero in previous timeline(s) needed to destroy it to reform the clan for more honorable ways, he would do so.  Kuai Liang mentioned Cyrax and Sektor’s loyalty to Bi-Han is absolute, but thinking logically, he could have a more blood-related family interested in the fate of their relative that could support his claim to title. In result, Bi-Han could be on the run, maybe with the hard-die followers making Scorpion’s intro dialogues about seeking /hunting brother accurate too.
In general, I won’t say that MK1!Scorpion is a bad or boring character, because he isn’t, but what he could use - the same as the rest Lin Kuei - is a better flashed out relationship that would give him a chance to grow alongside the story. The game keeps mentioning he and Bi-Han are brothers, but we barely see any of that close bond (Scorpion and Smoke understandably look better in that matter as they were meant to contrast the relationship with much colder and ambitious Bi-Han, but Smoke is pretty much pushed to sidelines for majority of game, the same as Sub-Zero). The intro dialogues and character endings imply romantic relationship (future marriage) but again, we are told about that and not really shown or allowed to see how it develops - and yes, I’m irked about this romantic addition that pushes Kuai Liang into Hanzo’s original role (and why push Harumi straight into marriage either? Why not introduce her and allow her to grow into her own person before marrying her off?). Which I think is part of the problem, as Mortal Kombat games don't dwell much into “daily” life of characters as we usually jump from one crisis to another fight and probably TV series or well written comics would do better justice for that sort of thing.
Don’t know if my ideas would handle better MK!1 Scorpion, beside maybe letting Hanzo have this mantle. I do however think it would be pretty cool if Kuai Liang got some character flaws to overcome, the same as Bi-Han got his arrogance and ambitions. Like I said, this Kuai Liang is not a bad character but he is the designated “good brother” and the perfect fighter, grandmaster, follower of Liu Kang and some flaws to balance his otherwise ideal portrayal would do some good. Hanzo had his serious anger and trust issues, Kuai Liang’s rocky relationship with authority and yes, some of those traits are implied here and there with MK1!Scorpion but so far does not play any vital role (the way he was ready to smack already laying on ground Bi-Han again with his shackles is so far the most visible anger fit he showed, but that is a pale imitation to what Hanzo Hasashi was capable of. Similarly his concern/doubts about Liu Kang stated in intro dialogues are not even close to Kuai Liang’s accusation and questioning of Raiden or other gods’ authority).

so ive been following this music series called milgram by deco*27 and the most recent song called Purge March is so farm era desmond coded its insane but i wanted your opinion on it bc im the best at keeping up with lore and stuff
purge march is about a little girl who grew up in a cult, this cult has these ideations they force on her like "thou shall follow thine destiny" and "thou shall deliver unto those thou believest in" and by cult standards she gets punished (severely) if she doesnt follow them.
one day she meets a cat who has his leg broken and decides to mend it, a cult member saw this and snitches to (i think) her parents, she then gets tazed bc she "changed the cat's destiny" while the cat is presumably unalived. this event snaps her and she goes on a rampage, killing who was probably her mother (the mv doesnt rly tell much bc it's purposefully cryptic)
so yeah im thinking of making an ac/milgram au but what do you think
(It was either the mother or the father, yeah, it’s meant to be cryptic XD)
Anyway, here’s the official Milgram youtube. I would have picked the actual playlist but the ones I saw weren’t updated to have Purge March.
For those just curious about Purge March, here’s the official MV (with English subtitles)
youtube
The Milgram series has the setup of ‘murderers’ that the main character must pronounce as guilty or innocent of their crime after listening to their songs. That’s pretty much the very brief gist of it.
Now, nonny gave a good summary of the crux of Purge March’s storyline so we’ll focus on a Desmond Purge March AU instead.
(warning, there will be… animal cruelty and child abuse in this one. Not descriptive but there nonetheless.)
For this one, we’ll remove all of the Templars versus Assassins + Isus stuff from the Farm.
If you still want to include them in the story, go for it, the Farm itself will be turned into an actual cult (instead of us just joking around that it’s a cult).
Perhaps the Farm was formed by radical Assassins who left the Brotherhood before the Great Purge, perhaps they were created by survivors of the Great Purge who lost themselves in grief and started to believe that salvation comes from following their destiny, no matter what it may be.
Of course, if you truly want to hammer in the AC plot, the Farm actually worships Juno (ala Will of the First Instruments) and the whole “thou shall follow thine destiny” is pushed into the conscience of every cult member all in an effort to ensure Desmond would accept his fate to die on December 21, 2012.
Hell, we can even push this into the entire cult knowing Desmond’s destiny is to die on December 21, 2012 to save the world. He has been groomed not as the messiah or the savior of mankind but as the sacrifice.
And Desmond hated it.
He hated everything.
The cult.
His life.
The world.
He was born and raised to believe that this world deserves to be saved because it was destiny.
The very word ‘destiny’ only makes him feel empty inside, a festering rotting darkness that threatened to consume him.
And then…
He found a cat with an injured leg.
White as fresh snow with eyes as gold as the necklace his mother would wear whenever his father would have one of his regular sermons.
And Desmond…
Desmond heard the poor cat mew and he couldn’t stop himself.
He ‘borrowed’ the first aid in their home and used it to disinfect and bandage the cat’s injury, even went and gave the cat his lunch because it was fine.
He can skip a meal.
And that was that.
Or so Desmond had thought.
He had done something good.
And it felt nice.
But he didn’t realize…
Because he was important to the cult…
He was being watched.
Always being watched.
And when his father and mother got home, they immediately grabbed the first aid box and asked him why there were bandages missing.
They shouldn’t have known.
He already had his excuse ready, cutting himself with the kitchen knife and…
But they didn’t believe him.
They knew.
They knew…
Someone told them.
And then…
His father showed him the bandage he had put on the cat.
Too bloodied for it to be from the cat’s leg injury.
And Desmond…
Desmond couldn’t even cry.
All he could was stare at the bandages as his father dragged him into the prayer room.
No.
The repentance room.
.
His entire body felt like it was on fire that night.
His hands stung. His back throbbed. His legs trembled.
He could not sleep.
Until he thought…
Who decides our destiny?
Why are they so sure that this is their destiny?
Because it had already happened?
Was the main point to simply not do anything once something bad has happened?
Then…
It will be destiny if something bad happens…
Right?
The following days, Desmond prepares and helps dutifully for the sermon this Sunday.
He does everything ordered of him, making his parents proud.
He receives good words for his actions, even gets headpats and smiles.
The emptiness in Desmond’s heart was filled.
Overflowing…
… with rot.
The sermon always started at the crack of dawn.
At the end of it, every adult in their ‘congregation’ would drink wine said to have been blessed.
Cheap wine bought in the local grocery.
They all drank.
And they all fell on their knees, coughing and vomiting.
The doors and windows were all locked because they ‘must be closed off from the filthy world’.
They cannot escape even if they wanted to.
Desmond grabs the holy sword, a family heirloom from his mother’s family.
It was light.
And sharp.
Desmond plunged it on his father’s stomach and pulled it just as quickly.
Not to kill him but to make sure he stays where he was.
Desmond grabbed the keys from his father then and…
He stood in front of the nearest adult that was neither his father nor his mother.
He remembered seeing him sometimes…
Did he follow Desmond that day?
No?
It doesn’t matter.
Desmond raised the sword…
And swung it down.
The head rolled…
The body slummed…
Blood pooled under him.
Desmond continued.
And the room filled with screams…

Hello! I hope your week is fine. I'd like to ask, in your reblog of Wukong's Mess, you mention that Macaque is being hypocritical, especially during the mountain prison fight. Can you elaborate on that? I'd also like to know your opinion on Sun Wukong, and why his side of the story has been silent and unspoken for so long. Eat you fruits and sleep early!
Side note: do you think, in Shadowplay, the story that Macaque tells us, is in actuality similar to what happened with MK and SWK when the latter witnessed LBD's return, a vision of MK being burned, which spurred him on mission to stop her while keeping MK in the dark about the reason for his "trip" in s2 beginning?
hi hi!!!! i'm doing good!!! hope ur doing well too :333 thanks for ur question!!
this got longer then i thought it would. also wanna write up a short disclaimer that no, i don't hate macaque. i like him alot, he's one of my favorite characters, but he's also a really bad person LOL and im just writing about the fact he is. i like that he's a flamboyant asshole, that kind of character is fun to me.
macaque has shown a lot of hypocritical moments during the show, some of the more memorable ones being in season 4, though he's done this before.
s4ep10 when macaque gives his (questionable) advice to MK and talks about how LBD and azure have been trying to get in his head and a bit about how MK's grown paranoid about that. totally not gonna mention that macaque was the one who originally turned MK into a more dependent and paranoid guy. nope. let's not talk about that at all. he's such a freak goblin
macaque insists that wukong left him behind or abandoned him during shadowplay and in season 3, but in season 4 we learn that macaque was the one to leave wukong under the mountain when wukong needed him most.
during their argument under the mountain, wukong says "...because you always rush to my rescue!" while he's upset. mean thing to say, but it's built in some truth if macaque's actions from the show are anything to go by. at every major conflict he's apart of, he flees to save his own skin. we love a cowardly weido! #slay. macaque counters this with "no, that's you! you're the one that's always running off, looking for more sources of power, sources of immortality!" which also has some truth to it, but the difference is wukong hasn't been fleeing any battles to leave macaque, he's been training and climbing the ranks in heaven to grow stronger to protect macaque and the mountain.
when macaque says "not the great sage, he's got to drag everyone else into his mess!" he's retroactively trying to take the blame of the attack on heaven off himself and the brotherhood and place it completely on wukong. macaque's acting as if he was unwilling and forced into the attack when he could have said no at any time. he's acting as if wukong forced everyone to help him when in reality to plan was mostly azure's, wukong was just their strongest fighter and the one who ultimately led the charge. macaque has a habit of doing this though, removing himself from a problem while pointing the blame at wukong. put a pin in that
wukong even says back to macaque that "you're not in this mess! you're still free!" which is. completely true. macaque's fine, wukong's the one paying for the entire brotherhood, including macaque's, involvement in the attack. and macaques out here yelling at wukong for it as if he isn't gonna be here for what he thinks to be eternity. macaque's fine, is what im trying to say here. macaque's not payin' for jack shit. wukong even says right after that that all of his training and "running off" was him working to protect the mountain and macaque. he says "everything i did, i did it for us!" and then macaque shuts him down and calls him selfish again, even though its pretty clear (with knowledge from jttw AND lmk) that what wukong's saying is true. macaque even calls him an "obsessive demon" which is so funny, thats like. stop yelling at the kettle, pot. macaque's entire identity is based around wukong, ur such a little hypocrite. if oneo f them had to be the obsessive demon, it would be macaque.
macaque then goes on to say that "i told you going against the jade emperor was a bad idea, but no, wukong doesn't listen to anyone! he just does whatever he wants!" which this whole statement is just so weak on his end. macaque warns wukong once, and thats when azure first brings up the idea of going against the jade emperor. he says something along the lines of "idk about this wukong, going against the jade emperor could have some consequences". wukong quickly reassures him and macaque smiles and is like "okay wukong, whatever you say". he says that very fondly. macaque's "warning" to wukong isn't much of a warning, it was a small thought that he quickly drops because wukong says it's going to be okay. macaque and wukong were extremely close, they should know the other's personality. macaque would have known that just a small, off-hand comment wouldn't even be considered a warning to someone as headstrong as wukong.
we can headcanon and imagine all we want that maybe macaque and wukong talked more about it, maybe they even argued about it, but none of that speculation means anything because canon only ever shows us macaque casually mentioning potential consequences that both macaque and wukong ignore. obviously to the characters, including macaque, the consequences weren't really that important if they never brought it up again. macaque is Once Again forcing more blame on wukong as if he didn't have an equal part in the attack or the planning leading up to it.
Tumblr media
i mean, look at wukong's face here in response to macaque saying that! that looks like the shocked face somebody makes when they hear someone say they did/said something they know they didn't. that, along with the "obsessive demon" insult has wukong making a "what the actual fuck?!" kind of face. the one where you're shocked the other person even has the audacity to practically lie right to your face, yknow?
"you put yourself here, not me" macaque says, then he destroys the peach and leaves it on the ground in front of wukong, basically as an act of severing ties. macaque has, in his mind, been innocent the whole time and has no reason to try and stick around and help wukong because, he thinks, "well it's not my fault any of this happened". macaque is constantly playing the blame game, i think it's his favorite
NOW! onto this:
I'd also like to know your opinion on Sun Wukong, and why his side of the story has been silent and unspoken for so long. Eat you fruits and sleep early!
first of all, love eating fruits! apples are very good. secondly, i uh. sleep early. yeah. oops..................... (i went to bed at 2:30 am last night).......... but we're workin on it!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
I have a lot of things I could say about Wukong. a lot of things that i won't for the sake of brevity but in general, Sun Wukong reads as someone who's tired and wanting desperately to move on, while also feeling an innate responsibility to keep helping the world and defending people from large threats. that's why he takes on MK as a successor, because he wants a way to almost "pass on" into obscurity so MK can be the next hero. MK's young, excited, and in his prime while wukong is old, tired, and bogged down with all of his past mistakes that no one ever lets him forget. he's surprisingly really realistic and well rounded compared to the rest of the, ill be real, close to flat cast, which is what drew me to his character. he doesn't feel as tropey as the rest of the cast, he feels like you could assign him a trope but it won't ever perfectly describe him, which is really cool. he perfectly embodies his original character purpose, to represent the power of the mind, as he's constantly changing and growing and learning from mistakes. that's what makes him such a realistic character! he's built to be extremely human even if he's an overpowered stone monkey.
wukong isn't the type of guy to really open up about what he's thinking and spill his insecurities. during the journey, a lot of times wukong would point out a demon threat or would come up with ways to stop threats against tripitaka who, 9/10 times didn't believe him or punished him for his ideas. wukong's basically internalized the idea that he needs to play his cards really close to his chest, which includes his plans for fighting back against something or his own feelings. hell, wukong's only really started opening up to MK in season 4, and he barely does! the only time he ever truly opens up is in the s4 special where he's basically given up. and even then he's filtering himself and not explaining his side of things, just his emotions. its a start tho
that's basically why wukong's taking so long to explain his side of the story on anything, its difficult to have him do so and have it be in character because his major traits are about being closed off emotionally. unfortunately because hes taking so long to open up, the fandom seems to be believing macaque and the villains more and more, painting this really nasty view of wukong which is. so odd to me.
i also have some gripes with the writers for not using the only tool that could almost force wukong to open up or show his side of the story to do that. they show a couple snippets of wukong's past, but it's all pre journey stuff and it all includes macaque. we never learn his side of the story about killing the camel ridge trio or his fight with macaque that led to macaque's death. we don't even hear his own inner monologue or thoughts! and now the scroll is effectively out of play, so we arent even gonna get to see that stuff. which sucks
Side note: do you think, in Shadowplay, the story that Macaque tells us, is in actuality similar to what happened with MK and SWK when the latter witnessed LBD's return, a vision of MK being burned, which spurred him on mission to stop her while keeping MK in the dark about the reason for his "trip" in s2 beginning?
okay, for this one it's complicated. so, yes and no.
macaque only does the shadow play to torture MK and make him feel even more insecure about wukong. he says it himself at the end of the episode, it's why he gives up on the fight so quickly, he just wanted to torture MK, mostly for fun. (is this how you get your sick kicks?!)
MK has a habit of mimicking and internalizing everyone else's words and personalities. the most obvious example is how at the end of season 1, in s1e9 his entire personality changes when macaque trains him, and macaque plants the seeds of insecurity in MK's mind about wukong "abandoning" him. it gets even worse in shadowplay in s2, because thats when MK really start's thinking wukong's abandoned him and he's really putting himself in macaque's headspace. bro stop!!!!!!!! he's evil!!!! stop!!!!! he's a liar!!!!! get out of there mk!!!
so anyway, macaque's whole point is that wukong "abandoned" him to go be a hotshot in heaven and then to go on the journey and make new and cooler friends, and now MK's worried that wukong just did that again but to him. macaque knows wukong's not around, too, which makes this "lesson" easier to tell MK since wukong's not there to defend himself or to explain the truth to MK. macaque's goal though with the shadow play is to insult MK by comparing him to wukong. he's trying to fuck with MK and make him feel shittier, that's why he kidnaps MK's friends, because he wants to be like "wow you didn't even notice they were gone! ur such a bad person lol! just like wukong the hero!" when in reality MK's put himself in macaque's role as the warrior and is just thinking all of his friends abandoned him. he knew they weren't around but he assumed they just didn't want to be with him, not that they were actually captured. it's a whole mess that just makes MK feel even worse by the end of it, but it's still an interesting episode that says a lot about the characters.
so, partially, yes, the shadowplay is similar to wukong leaving mk during season 2 when you look at it through MK's point of view. but objectively? it's not even close.
in reality, we the audience know that wukong isn't just going on vacation, he's actively looking for ways to stop the lady bone demon and doing research. he's finding ancient temples and scouring through their information, he's interrogating anyone who might have a clue, he's very active this season, we just only get clips of what he's doing while we focus on MK. we see multiple instances of him searching for answers, we know he's trying to stop LBD. he isn't really fucking off and doing nothing (but for some reason the fandom thinks he did because pigsy says that??? so).
wukong leaves MK because he's trying to protect him. he trusts MK's ability enough to deal with the occasional monster of the week at megaopolis, but he doesn't think MK's ready for a bigger threat like LBD. he's still communicating with MK to give him advice, but he knows MK knows the basics and can handle himself well, he just needs the occasional push. he's not intentionally abandoning him, he's keeping him out of harms way because he believes MK isn't ready for a world ending threat.
so basically: we know that macaque is trauma dumping and twisting the context of the story to make him seem like some sort of victim that was left behind, that MK is internalizing the story to mean that wukong is abandoning him, and that wukong isn't doing any of that and is trying to protect him. it's a big narrative mess but it's a good one! we the audience know MK's going down a bad path for his mental health and we know that wukong isn't doing any of that because we can see it through wukong's words and actions that he cares about MK and is trying to help him while keeping him safe. unfortunately, wukong's a little too late coming back to the city and LBD starts her plan before wukong can stop her.
sorry this got so long! i think about them a lot

Thank you for answering my ask! Ok but now I have to hear about his family and mommy issues 👀 perhaps
oooo thank u again for another ask bc i have THOUGHTS
i dont have much figured out abt them yet but his family is. well. they do exist!!
his mother is the product of generational abuse that kept going, i think. she got the same silent treatment and need for praise as she passed on to her son. ciceros grandmother is not in the picture bc his mom hates her mother, and uses the "arent you glad im not THAT terrible of a parent" after doing the same shit to her son. lol. lmao even. and his mother treating him this way gave him an INTENSE need for praise. he would do anything for her and she would still find fault. and when she DID praise him, it was like the clouds parted. he'd done something RIGHT and now he just needed to keep doing things the Right Way for her praise. and i dont think his mother was an overwhelmingly cruel person. i think she taunted and teased him like a playground bully sometimes bc thats how she was also raised, and you work with the tools you're given in life. i think she regretted having a child bc of the circumstances he was brought into, like maybe not being able to provide for him the way she wished she could, so she took it out on him. and sometimes she was cruel, but it wasnt ciceros fault for being born.
i dont have much on his father other than hes not often around, but i think this has more to do with just not being Able to be around. no idea why yet.
anyways i dont think cicero exactly ran away, but i think a whirlwind of circumstances lead to him being on his own at 12, fending for himself. maybe he killed someone on accident during these years and didnt regret it, and felt fine with it, actually. and someone from the dark brotherhood found him, maybe out of pity taking him in, or maybe seeing he was capable of being trained into a damn good assassin. either way he wound up with them, wholly dedicated to the cause.
back to his mommy issues, the ordeal with his mother and how she raised him left a permanent mark. perhaps cicero, deep down, always looked to the night mother more than sithis in his own subconscious way, and having her coffin and her corpse being under his protection and having a mother figure who cannot scold him or scorn him or hurt him in any way.... maybe it wormed into his brain. this idea that the night mother has to love him. or that she cant exactly say she doesnt.

In the latest poll there're some comments about Utena being problematic, which also happened in previous polls, and like.... Utena does cover pretty dark topics, but it really doesn't endorse any of it? It talks about problematic things because it's a story about abuse and very flawed people perpetuating abuse knowingly or not.
Like I never finished Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, but even though it portrays the brutality of war, I don't think it's trying to say "war is great actually," right?
If someone doesn't vibe with a show because of its contents or the context surrounding it, then that's fine, really! I'm just confused by people arriving to the conclusion that "X show portrays this bad thing, therefore the creator endorses this bad thing." There are times when that's true, but I dunno, things can be more complicated than that. I think about this quote where Miyazaki's like
I read various things since I like (reading about) war. So, people ask me such questions as "do you like war?" I answer them "do you think AIDS researchers love AIDS?" But I was forced to realize that my understanding of history was really naive.
(Via nausicaa.net)
Anyway, this isn't really to dunk on people who don't like Utena, or anyone making these comments. It's just that as someone who makes stories, I'm just interested to see how narratives that deal with "problematic stuff" get perceived, even if it's created not to endorse any of it.
This isn't a defense for people who are like, "I write/ love serial killer stories, and am/ want to be a serial killer irl" btw. Just kinda a broad observation

Just a Hobby of Mine™︎
Danse’s thundering, power-armored footsteps echoed through Sanctuary like a warning to anyone who planned to attack — they wouldn’t last very long.
The pack of Raiders that had assaulted Sole’s main settlement had done so at the perfect time. Sole was away with the young sniper kid and wouldn’t be back until morning, leaving Danse and the rest of their questionable companions, plus a few settlers, alone in the neighborhood. The ambush had only lasted a few moments, but their tactics were good. They came from every angle unexpectedly.
A few settlers were injured, none critical. Preston Garvey was sporting a nice concussion from behind hit over the head by a tire iron. But other than that, everyone seemed alright. Curie was tending to the injured in Sole’s makeshift infirmary. The rest of the companions were all keeping watch, nerves shot to some extent. Danse had seen Cait and Piper, he saw Codsworth and Nick helping Curie, that dreaded raider from the amusement park had holed up near the bridge to do a bad job of keeping watch, Hancock had slinked off somewhere but kept appearing randomly. The only two he hadn’t seen since the attack were his least favorites (and by least favorites, he meant the ones he despised the most), Deacon, the buffoon with the sunglasses from the Railroad, and X6, the Courser he couldn’t believe Sole actually worked with. He didn’t mind their absence much.
He guessed he couldn’t blame Sole. After all, they’d taken him in after he found out he was a synth. And, now that the Institute and Brotherhood were gone for good, he guessed X6 had nowhere to go, either. But that didn’t mean he liked him.
He walked from one side of the neighborhood to the other for what seemed like the hundredth time, laser pistol clasped tightly in his hands. It was dark out, and dawn would be breaking soon, which meant Sole would be home. He wasn’t going to let his guard down until they came home.
He scanned the settlements surroundings for any movement, glancing toward the other side once he made sure one was clear. He stopped short of the bridge, trying his best to avoid conversation with the raider that was standing near the end of it with an automatic rifle, turning on his power-armored heel and returning the way he’d come. But, suddenly, something made his ear twitch.
Footsteps. From the left. Between two houses Sole had fixed up.
He turned and immediately began stalking toward whatever lay in wait there. He heard a few more unusual sounds as he drew nearer — groaning, maybe? Panting?
Danse rounded the yellow house with his gun raised, quickly rolling his eyes at the sight of who was in front of him.
It was Deacon, staring straight back at him with his bald head, shiny sunglasses and white t-shirt. But, oh, his t-shirt wasn’t white, it was red. And his hands, too. A shade of red all too familiar to the ex-Paladin, a shade of red that put a cringe on his face. Deacon was pressing his hands hard against his torso was blood oozed from between his fingers at a rapid rate.
“Ah, just the guy I wanted to see before my ultimate demise,” The spy forced out some kind of humorous chuckle that made Danse grimace. Why was he laughing?
“Are you injured?” Danse half muttered, like Deacon wasn't wearing half of the crimson liquid that should’ve been inside of him.
“No, it’s just a hobby of mine to walk around pretending I am. Gotta keep everyone on their toes— ah, hell,” Deacon cursed quietly to himself, reaching out with his left hand toward the yellow house next to him. Danse only shifted slightly when he managed to step over to it and prop himself against the wall, leaving a bloody handprint on the yellow siding.
“Yeah, no, I’m fine. You can go back to stomping,” Deacon muttered, but the way he was paling didn’t seem very good. Danse glanced around, searching for anybody else he could inform, but the only person within earshot was Gage, and he simply wouldn’t do. He holstered his gun. Well, he couldn’t just leave him. That wouldn’t fly with Sole.
“You require medical attention,” Danse deadpanned. Deacon only hummed in acknowledgment as he let himself slide down onto the ground, leaving a long streak of blood on the wall behind him. His back must’ve been bleeding, too. The bullet went all the way through.
“You think?”
“Affirmative. You seem to have lost a detrimental amount of blood, sold- ah, Spy,” He corrected, not picking up on the sarcasm the other was throwing at him.
Deacon snickered. “I have a name, y’know. It’d be nice if- what the hell?”
Danse didn’t let up as Deacon squirmed in his grip. He was holding onto his arms, pulling him off of the ground. “You require medical attention, and unfortunately, if you die, Sole will be incapacitated.”
“Unfortunately?” Deacon spat, venom falling from his tongue like a snake. He jerked out of Danse’s grip and stumbled, only catching himself by hitting the yellow wall again.
“Don’t be difficult,”
“I was born difficult,”
“I find that easy to believe,”
Danse shifted his weight to the side as he watched Deacon. He was breathing ragged, bloody, shaky hands hovering over the red spot on his shirt like it would magically disappear. He coughed — a pitiful and wet sound Danse didn’t much like given his condition.
“You require medical attention,”
“Are you gonna keep saying that over and over? Because I’m kinda tired of hearing it,” Deacon stated. He brought a hand up to his face and stumbled a little to the left, steadied only by Danse’s hand that landed on his shoulder as soon as he saw him sway.
“Let me help you,” He said nonchalantly. Deacon huffed.
“I’m not just another soldier you can order around, tin man, I’m a… a…”
Danse tightened his grip on the spy as Deacon’s legs seemed to give out, keeping him from crumpling to the ground. He blinked, clearly dazed.
Danse simply hauled him up and over his shoulder, traipsing toward the infirmary. He’d thank him later (maybe), and so would Sole.

*slides you monopoly money* im here bc im testing to see if i could get you to write nazir/brynjolf 👀
listen. i'm gonna be honest here and own up to the fact that i don't know nazir that well so please don't kick my ass if my characterization is off.
brynjolf/nazir because i'll do anything to help my boy win these polls - and i could use a few monopoly dollars. nsfwish, not explicit, i just wrote a lot. anyway, vote for brynjolf
"When I heard I was up against a redhead I was worried it'd be that clown."
Brynjolf didn't have a response. He stared at the man sharing the stage with him - dark eyes watching his every move, sword strapped to his belt, one hand hovering over the hilt. He anticipated using it.
"I can't believe we're actually up here." Brynjolf scoffed, staring out at the crowd that continued to gather around them. This silly Sexiest Man content had spiraled out of control, countless sets of eyes gazing up at them.
There was no ignoring the flattery of it all - learning that he'd made it through somewhat of a gauntlet to be in contention for the sexiest man, his final contest against the man to his right. His Guild Master had informed him that Nazir was one of the few remaining members of the Dark Brotherhood after its recent troubles.
"After all that mess, I figured our dysfunctional little family could use a laugh." Nazir's shoulder bumped Brynjolf's and a whisper seemed to rush through the crowd. They all clutched the little ballots to their chests, scratching down votes as they filed through the marketplace.
"Alright, time is almost up!" The Guild Master's voice rose above the chatting crowd and Brynjolf suppressed a groan. He'd begged them not to make a scene yet there they stood, arms outstretched and gathering attention. "Anything these fine gentlemen can do to tip the scales in their favor?"
"Show some skin!" Someone shouted from the rear of the crowd, earning more than a few hoots. Brynjolf felt his cheeks blushing and considered disappearing into the nearby alleyway. He was interrupted by Nazir's hearty chuckle as he began unlacing the front of his leather jerkin.
"Are you really doing this?" Brynjolf hissed, shocked when the assassin's gaze met his, full of humor.
"Why not?" Nazir laughed, tossing his vest off to the side. A whistle came from the crowd when he began removing the loose shirt underneath. "Our Guilds have had a rough time. We might as well give them some fun, right?"
Never one to be outdone, Brynjolf unlatched the front of his armor. It was quite a bit of work and by the time he was done Nazir's chest was bare, nothing left but the loose pants and the sword hanging from their belt. He made quite the spectacle - a body muscled from years of hard work, looking impressive under the setting sun. Brynjolf wasn't sure how his scarred chest would hold up, relived to hear a few whoops in his honor when he dropped the leather armor to the stage.
"Alright boys, lovely display." The Guild Master purred, egging on the crowd. Brynjolf wanted to shove them but resisted the urge, some little part of him still wanting to win the title. "Anything else they can do for you undecided voters? Only a few moments until our polls close!"
The crowd once again devolved into chattering and Brynjolf fought the urge to cover his chest. He saw a few pairs of eyes on him, ego fighting with the deeply ingrained instinct to hide himself from prying eyes. Ultimately his ego won, flashing a young Dunmer a smile that left them a mess of giggles.
"See?" Nazir spoke softly, eyes sliding to Brynjolf. "Just enjoy it while it lasts. After this all ends we'll be back to work."
As his words sunk in Brynjolf spotted a few of his thieves gathered in the back corner - drinks in hand, laughing harder than he'd seen since before Mercer's betrayal was revealed.
"Kiss!" Someone shrieked and the crowd erupted into laughs and cheers. Brynjolf stared over at Nazir, catching the color rising in his cheeks but his grin didn't falter. He really was willing to play along with this silly contest. The Guild Master turned to them with a flourish, a devious smile on their face.
"Well, lads?" They gestured to the crowd and Brynjolf knew he'd make them pay for this. "Willing to earn a few votes?"
Brynjolf felt his palms get clammy when he felt Nazir's hand on his shoulder. He glanced over, heart pounding and some excuse bubbling up in his mouth but he couldn't deny that part of him wanted to do this. He didn't know if it was the handsome man looking at him or the cheers of a crowd but something drove him forward, lips falling on Nazir's.
He'd never felt someone take charge when kissing him but it stirred something deep in his chest. Nazir's hand clasped his face and Brynjolf felt their noses knock together, Nazir's bare chest pressed to his. He heard the crowd whooping but it sounded far off, his mind focused solely on the rough skin of Nazir's chest under his hand and the fingers playing in his hair.
When Nazir's thumb ghosted over that sensitive spot on Brynjolf's neck he shivered, still shocked. He was enjoying this. There were dozens of people watching him kiss a complete stranger and all he could worry about was getting more of Nazir's touch. He felt the hilt of Nazir's sword bump into the dagger strapped to his thigh and pulled away, sucking in a deep breath while he stared into Nazir's eyes.
"Definitely not like the clown." Nazir murmured, hand still curved around the back of Brynjolf's neck. His face heated when he hear a wolf whistle from the crowd and Vex's voice cheering above the rest but was stuck, mind going faster than he could compute. "You alright?"
"Yeah." Brynjolf realized his voice was breathless. No one made him feel like this - he was the one that left others breathless and blushing. It was new and strange but when he felt Nazir's thumb brush down his throat again he realized he wanted to keep going. "It's all for show, right?"
"Oh sure." Nazir sounded like he was joking but Brynjolf felt the tug on his neck, another kiss pressed to his lips. It sent electricity tingling through his body and he grabbed the sides of Nazir's belt, intent on giving this crowd more than enough reasons to vote for him.
They hollered and whistled again when Brynjolf tugged Nazir's hips against his, thrilled with the sound he heard in the other man's throat. Fingers tightened in his red hair and teeth scraped along Brynjolf's lower lip, dragging a filthy sound out of him. His free hand curled around Brynjolf's lower back, hips pressing into his and Brynjolf was sure he'd faint. No one had ever kissed him like this before. It was absolutely intoxicating.
The crowd dispersed shortly after. Brynjolf's armor hung around his chest, unbuckled but back in his place. He found himself wandering under the Temple of Mara, lips still tingling from that kiss and ears ringing with the crowd's cheers. He wondered if he'd done enough to win.
"Good show up there." Nazir's deep voice rumbled from the nearby shadows and Brynjolf halted, heart hammering in his chest. He wasn't accustomed to people sneaking up on him. To be fair, he'd been quite distracted replaying every second of that kiss over in his head.
"You too." Brynjolf raised a brow, staring at where he saw the light glint off Nazir's sword. "You returning to your Sanctuary?"
"In the morning." He sighed the words, something unspoken fizzling between them. "We won't see one another again, will we?"
"I usually make it a point to avoid contact with the Brotherhood." Brynjolf couldn't hide the old distaste. "So, no."
"Good."
Nazir dragged Brynjolf into the shadows, crowding him against the cold stone wall. His heart leapt when he felt Nazir's warm hands angling his chin upward, thumb scraping over the stubble he'd forgotten to shave.
"Might as well have some fun before then." Nazir murmured, voice so low Brynjolf felt like he'd implode. He hooked his fingers into the belt that carried that deadly sword, tugging Nazir's hips into his again.
He'd never appreciated an assassin's ability to melt in the shadows more than that night.

since my exams on the 8th of may i thought i’d now try this since i’m going through a whole bunch of stuff and just want to get my mind off of it. please don’t think i’m uninterested or ignoring you if i forget to reply, just message me if there’s a misunderstanding!
Hello i’m tima !! I am a 19F looking for an 18+ rp partner. Dark themes are absolutely not a problem but I will not do scat/vomit type themes. The rp could be of any type, however when it comes to nsfw, I would prefer some build up before we get to the actual smut.
I prefer literate/semi-literate rp and usually do oc x canon, however I am open to canon x canon/oc x oc as well. I can do fxf, fxm or mxm, and usually double up for oc x canon. I would like it if my partner writes at least a paragraph (6-7 sentences minimum). My replies can fluctuate as my schedule is always changing here and there so I can go from replying frequently to replying weekly and rarely monthly. I don’t expect my partner to match my pace so replies aren’t an issue, all I ask is that you let me know if you’re going to go on a long pause, I will do the same.
As for aus or scenarios, we can sit together and brainstorm! I’m completely fine with every type of au. Yandere, A/B/O, tooth rotting romance, etc. like I said dark themes are not a problem so get as nasty as you’d like! We will of course discuss our limits and stuff, so anything we do will always be between whatever we are comfortable with!! Anything we can discuss.
As for fandoms, I’m mostly into anime but I have seen a few shows/movies here and there. Fandoms I roleplay range from but are not limited to:
- naruto shippuden
- JJBA (parts 2-5 are the only ones i can rp)
- BNHA (s6 not included)
- fruits basket
- bungou stray dogs
- Haikyuu
- Kuroko no basket
- Burning kabaddi
- Free! iwatobi swim club (up until s2)
- Black clover
- jujutsu kaisen
- demon slayer
- assassination classroom
- ohshc
- yona of the dawn
- hakouki
- vampire knight
- dance with devils
- vanitas no carte
- Tokyo revengers (anime only)
- Beyblade burst/evolution
- Fire force
- ensemble stars (anime only)
- full metal alchemist brotherhood
- blue lock (anime only)
- yowamushi pedal (all seasons)
- omniscient reader viewpoint (yoohankim preferably)
- blue lock (very interested in this !!)
+ others that I may have forgotten, so just ask me if I know a certain fandom and I’ll let you know if I do or not!
you can direct message me here on tumblr or add me on discord at scenicknj#1897 !

I just like the headcanon that Eugene's mother was a member of the royal family and heir to the throne while Edmund was "only" a knight and member of the brotherhood before marrying her.
It's a fine headcanon, but I don't agree with it.
Look at the crown.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Note that on dark-haired ghosts, the crown is light, but on light-haired ghosts, it's dark. That's for contrast, and so you can actually see it.)
Now look at Edmund's crown vs. the queen's. (I brightened the image so you could see the crowns better.)
Tumblr media
Edmund is wearing the ruling crown, the one with the purple gem embedded in it.
I mean, by all means, headcanon whatever you want, but just be aware that it's not a canon-compliant headcanon.

HOT TAKE TOURNAMENT:
PRE-PRELIMINARY #1
Tumblr media
Submission 142:
"Fallout 3 is just objectively a terrible game and people are too blinded by nostalgia/franchise loyalty to understand how deep it goes"
(Pre-preliminaries will be used to judge whether this submission qualifies as a hot take. Propaganda is encouraged!)
Submitted justification under the cut:
Every Fallout game since Bethesda took over has had a very distinct central theme. New Vegas is about the past vs the future, Fallout 4 is about personal identity/truth, and Fallout 3 is about ✨morality✨. Every choice in the game boils down to “I’m such a good person, just an innocent little vault baby who wants to help people 🥺” or “HAHAHA MURDER IS FUN I WANT TO EAT BABIES”. (And don’t get me wrong, cartoonishly evil actions can both be very fun and have always had a place in the Fallout series, but this particular installment both prides itself and is propped up by its fans as being a “dark, gritty, mature” on the Fallout setting). It’s always so annoyingly black and white, the only exceptions being when the main story forces you to be evil to progress. And it’s not in a grimdark way, the game seems to genuinely see no issue with it. The two major factions are a replica of the U.S. military that hates mutants and thinks they should be killed via eugenics, and a replica of the U.S. military that hates mutants and thinks they should be killed via genocide. Guess which one is the “good guy” faction! You literally can’t because they’re both basically the same thing and they’re both equally awful. Turns out the hero faction is the genocide one, but they saved you from some hostile mutants one time so actually they’re okay 🥺. Ignore the fact that the mutants are very provably sentient and the only actually selfless and good NPC is, himself, a mutant. It’s fine.
And brief sidebar here to mention that the main story LITERALLY ISN’T COMPLETED UNLESS YOU BUY A DLC. Like technically there’s an “ending”, but you just get to the eleventh hour and then either: a) Die or b) Have the game call you a coward and a bad person because you opted to have someone who is RESISTANT TO RADIATION step into a HEAVILY IRRADIATED AREA instead of killing yourself by doing it because… “thematic parallels” to when they fridged your dad, I guess? So then say you bought the rest of the story for enough real world money to get you like. A nice meal. Or a better game. Then what’s the new ending? Well, it seems at first to be a morally challenging decision! You’ve been sent by the Brotherhood of Steel (aforementioned genocide faction) to infiltrate the base of and then redirect a nuke to the Enclave (aforementioned eugenics faction). Yes you are their most important soldier now. The main character of this game happens to be the only Fallout protagonist with a concrete age (that being 19), but an adult’s an adult I GUESS.
You get to the terminal and prepare to direct the bombs, but you’re presented with a choice as to where to send them. You could direct them at the base you’re in right now, eliminating the Enclave (including innocent non-combatants), or you could choose to disobey your orders and send the, to Megaton, Rivet City, (two major settlements), Project Purity (your father’s life’s work, a lab meant to distribute clean water to the wasteland which has since been blockaded by the BoS because they want to turn a profit off of it), or the Citadel (the Brotherhood’s base of operations). If you choose Megaton, Rivet City, or Project Purity, the game will inform you that those were actually just false choices and you were supposed to pick something else. If you pick the Enclave base, then you get a little good ending cutscene where you’re informed that the Brotherhood is preparing for it’s next mission to go kill a bunch of mutants in the city. Yay! Fun! +100 karma points! But if you instead bomb the Citadel, then you get back and find it’s ruined remains. Grr. Bad. -100 karma. You’re evil now. And yes there was a child soldier there (technically a scribe, not a soldier, but Veronica from NV was also a scribe and she was 27 and killed people so yeah.), but in Fo4 we learn that that kid, as well as that whole branch of the Brotherhood, survived anyways! And need I remind you that there were also noncombatants in the Enclave base. So what’s the moral here? It’s good to be loyal to the racist technofacists that indoctrinated you into joining them when you were barely an adult and just lost your lifelong home? And that’s just the main story.
The karma system for companions is so dumb, really companions in general in this game are awful. But I’m going to get to karma first so that it’ll make more sense why they such so much. Karma fills a role similar to what reputation would later in the series, measuring how much people are inclined to like you based on your previous actions. Except instead of being faction based and measuring how people feel about how you’ve directly interacted with the specific groups they’re affiliated with, it just measures if you’re generally a Good Person or a Bad Person. Very nuanced. To be a good person, give water to homeless people, donate to the church, and take positive actions for the BoS. To be a bad person, steal things, kill non-combatants (oh wait), and take negative actions against the Brotherhood. So if you want to maintain a specific karma, you have to take actions that suit it. The game pushes you towards good karma at certain points in the story, and generally it’s very hard to maintain a neutral score without spilling into good or evil. Anyways, back to the companions. Your fun, unique cast of traveling partners are a series staple, so who do we have? A military robot who will only side with you if you have neutral karma. Your childhood bully who will only side with you if you have neutral karma. A retired raider who claims to be better now, but still does some really awful stuff (and who will only side with you if you have evil karma. A slave and an indentured servant who you can *buy the contracts of.* These are TWO SEPARATE CHARACTERS. They did this TWICE. Plus the slave (who is an asian woman) will constantly fawn over the player (who would have had to have evil karma to buy her) and act romantically towards them. YIKES. I could get into so much more but I’ve been at this for an hour with no music or anything, just venting/ranting. Thanks for putting up with it being so long, by the way, it was kind of cathartic. Just to close things off here: The gunplay is really clunky and unfun, the world is bleak, ugly, and blocked off by a ton of invisible walls that make it a drag to explore, almost all of the characters are a pain to sit through interactions with, and the graphics (though not a dealbreaker), aged really poorly. I’m begging you to just play New Vegas or Fallout 4 instead PLEASE. If you already have then try out the original isometric games. Or the so bad they’e kind of funny spinoffs. Or the mobile game. Or the board game. Or the tabletop roleplaying game. Heck, even 76. Just please don’t play Fallout 3 and stop acting like it’s good.

TAG GAME: EIGHT SHOWS TO GET TO KNOW ME
I was tagged by @shutterbug-12 thank you !!! Weirdly we do share a show, how surprising 😁❤️
Here's a thing : I do not watch that many shows. Partly because I don't have time, partly because I am bad at watching shows because I need to be emotionally invested to get into them, and once I am ???? I can only watch that show in particular, on repeat. Yeah I'm a grown ass adult fight me.
Ripper Street : end all be all the best show on this list that is not at all in order of good from bad for real but this one tops everything. Period drama, awesome characters, delicate treatment of issues we are still struggling with nowadays with actually sometimes more decency from these 19th century Victorian men than 21st century people 🙃. Also misery misery misery feels and a fine dry humor that makes it the perfect match. Oh, and. Dead bodies and gore happens. Also there is something to the dialogue than I just absolutely love.
Tumblr media
Daredevil (netflix) : of course this one has to be on the list, and I love it, and I love Matt and Karen and Foggy, and I wish S2 didn't exist. All this can coexist, you know (and I love Elektra and Elodie Yung she is absolutely NOT the problem). Please do not talk to me about She Hulk or the Disney reboot, thanks (gif to make people watch it, I like my men sad and guilty they can't save everyone and covered in blood, thank you). So yeah overall a show I love and have rewatched many times but nowadays... I feel kinda bad about it and it makes me sad.
Tumblr media
Band of Brothers/The Pacific : you know me, you know why I like these shows (no it does not stop at "men in uniforms"). We did a rewatch of BoB recently and I think it's an easier watch than the Pacific, but I think I like the latter better even if everytime it makes me feel so bad. Anyway a gif of Webster because (hard to chose between him and Leckie I admit)
Tumblr media
Doctor Who : just. Love it. Especially RDT era. Can't chose between 9 and 10 but the best is Jack Harkness
Tumblr media
Good Omens : I need a rewatch. Just love it. I have nothing more to say, it's great.
Tumblr media
Scrubs : probably one of these shows I shouldn't rewatch in case I cringe a little but when we first got together with Benj 11 years ago we just watched Scrubs on a loop. I don't especially like the characters but the show itself, which is kinda weird for me (except Dr Cox. I love him)
Tumblr media
The Sandman : last show that blew my mind. Just love everything in it. Can't wait for S2. I had read some of the comics and loved it, too. Just realized that it's the second Neil Gaiman thing in this list (3 if we count that he wrote for Doctor Who lol) and I guess it says stuff about me too
Tumblr media
Pushing Daisies : I have loved the contrast between the whole death thing and the colourful and happy sets and stuff. This show is cute and dark and funny and I love it and I need to rewatch too when I can. (Also? Tall cutie that meddles with the dead and bakes awesome pies? did I use Ned as a template for my OC without realising ??)
Tumblr media
I don't think it counts as a show since it's an anime so it's a bonus but if you've been following me the last 6 months, you need to hear about Fullmetal Alchemist (Brotherhood but not necessarily excluding 03. At all. Just watch it back to back. That'll do it. I love both.) (Yeah oddly enough I'm not crazy about the title character there but about THEM and of course you must have noticed)
Tumblr media
I tag @heirsoflilith @rancid-butter @qs63 @littleragondin @dairogo @musing-and-music @magipies @goneadrift @smoothshine if you want to do it !

I'm finally reading Brotherhood and it is driving me nuts because every time there's an Anakin chapter I end up internally screaming "Just leave! You're clearly not happy! You're clearly not interested in anything that's important to being a Jedi! Just go! It's fine!"
(not that I think that would actually solve anything because 1. Palpatine would probably have an even easier time turning Anakin to the dark side once he's not spending 98% of his time around other Jedi who can knock some sense into him, 2. Anakin and Padmé are clearly more in love with the idea of a forbidden relationship than they are with each other and once their marriage is no longer forbidden either they'll split up and he'll turn to the dark side about it or they'll force themselves to stay in the relationship to try and make the sacrifice worth it and end up letting resentment build until Anakin turns to the dark side about it, 3. part of Anakin's problem is that he can't grasp that being a Jedi isn't about power and so if he did anything he saw as giving up his power he would at best fall into a bottomless pit of despair and at worst turn to the dark side about it)
