knowing that morty is originally rick prime’s grandson really makes that scene in s2 where time is broken and rick sacrifices himself so morty can live hit SO much differently.

“i’m okay with this. be good, morty. be better than me.”

GOD, dude… even the way he jumps in there with no hesitation. he could’ve just put that collar on himself and guaranteed he’d live.

when he heard morty say he’d dropped that collar, it wasn’t even a question of which one of them was gonna make it out alive.

he was willing to do that because he’d already grown to love that little boy.
