🎶 Do you listen to music while you write? What song have you been playing on loop lately?

-i dont necessarily listen to music when i write, like maybe i'll have some music going in the background because i need at least a low level of noise at all times or i'll go insane, but i know rn i'm listening to jazz radio on pandora because my brother put it on like 7 hours ago and its still going. i'm a huge fan of the classical composer Holst and his suite The Planets, and i'll listen to that when im writing or need to focus on whatever it is that i'm doing (Jupiter was my school song in high school and is actually one of my favorite classical songs because it's very lovely)(link here bc i have to share it)(this is a link to a playlist of the rest of the suite)

-i mostly just have the tv on if im writing at home, and then i'll usually put something like s1 of Lois and Clark, Green Lantern: the Animated Series, Tanked, some random cooking show, or Mysteries at the Museum. or whatever my youtube recommends. depends on how im feeling each day and how much i'll need to actually focus on my fic.

-i do listen to music when im driving for work, and currently im working my way through The Crane Wives and The Orion Experience's albums (i already finished Waterparks)

-kryptonians are fucked up. so are speedsters. so are lanterns.

-hal is old-man core. he just is. its amazing and i love him. he also has a bad leg and has to use a cane sometimes bc he got an injury that healed very wrong when he was a young lantern

-also wally and kyle are basically always like...9 and 7 respectively in my fics about the halbarry family because idk. fun ages. theyre still little but they can talk and think. idk when they'll get older

-this is more in my aus that i haven't written but hopefully will eventually, but giving bruce's kids to literally anyone else. i have an au where the only kids bruce keeps are dick and damian and maybe duke. i have another where duke is trained/fostered by alan scott and his husband, and another where duke is trained/fostered by midnighter and eventually apollo. the au where the only kids bruce gets are dick and dami and duke is the same one where all the other batkids are taken in by various gotham rogues. i have aus where tim is trained/taken in by dinah lance and her mom dinah drake, kon is adopted by alan scott, roy is adopted by dinah and his her sidekick instead of olivers, billy is adopted by lex luthor, kon stays with lex luthor and is raised by him along with lexs daughter who is kons half twin, billy is adopted by clark and hal and sorta guy and the rest of the red lanterns that i like, clark is found by the gls when hes a baby and is raised by kilowog, etc etc etc. bestie i have so many aus and i could talk about them for ages (edit: i also have one where jason is adopted by john constantine and etrigan the demon without jason bloods knowledge)

ok but what do you think of demiromantic hal?? someone mentioned that he's aro coded and it's something I didn't knew but needed it 😭

As someone who is on the ace spectrum (demiromantic and asexual), I really like when people write about some of my favorite characters having the same sexualities as me.

I do headcanon him as demiromantic, and also pansexual.

(Down below is me explaining him being demiromantic when it comes to his feelings and also Barry + Carol...)

HOWEVER, he is... as Ollie says a space tomcat, he takes on emotions much more seriously in my hc. He can do whatever, but when it comes to how he feels romantically it became a lot harder for him to express himself romantically too. <- Trouble with love genuinely but with trying to tell people anything related with love has been a topic for him. Which is also an explaination of the acts that he does for the people he cares about because it REPLACES him trying to explain his feelngs. When you think about it, the way Hal shows his love towards people or showing that he cares comes into a lot of wild acts or making sure that he'll come to the ends of the Earth when it comes to someone. (Like in your post, which I forgot to reblog and add to it :3, in DC vs Vampires, how Hal wanted to rule the world with Barry....) ------ Unrelated but related-- While yes, he does save people, Hal is deepened through emotional bonds both platonically and romantically... (I like to take this literal, as a form of being bonded by lantern ring emotion such as Carol with holding to Star Sapphire and Barry with being expressed by HAL to hold the mantle of hope, because it took years with these two for Hal to be linked with them in some type of way -> Sorry, I'm kinda normal about the bond Carol and Hal have, there's many levels of a relationship that these two have -- Including Barry and Hal together. There's a lot of things to talk about these two.)

This first occurs with Carol. As they grew older (Teen years to Adulthood <- Before JL), it gave Hal time of falling for her. Whether it was those long talks out on drives or opening up to each other about the deeper things. Plus, bringing in the things they face together and the collaborations these two agree on or disagree or OVERALL the way they communicate through different forms when it came to both in suit and out of suit. One of my thoughts for my Demiromantic Hal hc. Not only this but they also have a deep connection together later when it comes the Star Sapphire Possessions + Hal being Reborn in Spectre while Carol has presumably moved on. Although it took a bit to figure himself out, he both cares and loves Carol in impossible ways that could be explained. Which leads me to the next case...

(I had to ramble about them... They are like the best friends ever + including Barry and Iris when they come along.)

Sharing to add on for your post... But this is ALSO an idea I've been having for a fic... But I don't have time to write it ALL because I want to make it to many chapters. Be Prepared because I like when you mention HalBarry to me, I get happy because I don't talk about it to people. I also love to hear HalBarry thoughts because I project things that people don't get much like what I'm about to write..

The way Hal feels when it comes to being in love, is partially dumbfounded, it's something that sets him back when he realizes that there's an elephant in the room. One he describes as longing in a way where he didn't know he felt this fast. When in reality it has been years since this friendship. Yes, feelings for one of his best friends. One that he's been friends with since the beginning of the Justice League formation. Which was long... His hair is grey and the smile that was once without wrinkles now forms lines whenever he smiles or laughs.. In his mind, it feels that the feelings that are coming into play feel dangerous. How it makes his palms sweat just being near Barry. How when he isn't being occupied by anything busy, he's thinking about a fond memory with Barry. How Barry makes him smile, the way everything about his friend just makes him giddy like some teenage puppy love. Something he never got to experience but god, when he's with Barry, he feels so young. That even imagining them growing old together is just one step to keeping Hal feeling so young. It's like being awkward when you have no idea where to put your hands. Especially with a friend you've had for many years. A friend who's been there by his side that Hal now begins to think an eye for god knows how many minutes. The friendship teasing between the two and the playful chases that they would take on those evenings when everything just seemed perfect. How standing on that cliff when they were younger, the intimacy of the stare they held. Their deep connection that brings Hal to appreciate every moment he's had with him. How they're practically linked in color. How hope filled the willpower that settled in his personality. That when it came to Barry, it felt like he might have something to lose. Something and someone he's lost before. He knows what it felt to lose Barry. Which one proved his love for Barry to be a lot stronger than what he first thought when it came to the last glimpse of friendship. How that bond turned into a strong form for what Hal should keep fighting for. It was so unexpected. So unexpected to be in love with your best friend.

A fanfic idea I've always had for HalBarry that I've BEEN WANTINGGG to write is a mission dealing with the Music Meister but the whole thing turns into confessing to each other about how they feel infront of everyone but through a musical style. Music Meister's power is being able to sing and control people to sing AND dance. I also want to mix the ability of CW Music Meister, his powers contain the ability of creating this figment that is like a sorta daydream sequence. (That's so silly and cool I love it and he's also my favorite villain in general but there's barely anything on him)

I'm still debating what songs they would sing but it would be based on how they feel INTERNALLY and through complex topics like what they are worried about. For example, from gaining the feeling that they'd lose the other if confessing was the way or being afraid of saying the truth directly to someone OR entering a relationship at all. ("What would they say? How would they react? What do I look like to them??" etc. etc.)

Give the other JL members little song sequences and singing. 'If Only He Can Love Me' duet between Dinah and Ollie in Brave and The Bold... OR BRUCE BEING ABLE TO SING. ARTHUR TOO, he's so silly in that episode.

I'm also including Music Meister HEAVILY from 'Mayhem of The Music Meister!' from Batman: The Brave And The Bold S1 E25. Having Neil Patrick Harris be Music Meister for that...I'm amazing. ANDDD AND, the fact that Neil also played Barry Allen in DC: The New Frontier film

Is it okay to ask you about your Hal headcanons? Sorry it just feels so rare to find new people who actually like him.

Yeah, of course! My thoughts are gonna be all over the place because it’s how my brain works but I hope you enjoy these!

First, honestly my top one aligns with @teatitty that him, Barry, Oliver, and Dinah are the Ultimate Dumbass Squad, but I usually tag on the fact that Booster and Ted are there too because it’s what we all deserve

On the rare occasion that HalBarry and Booster and Ted are working together, Barry and Ted get all the work done while Hal and Booster goof off and catch up and take a whole bunch of silly pictures together

Hal tans pretty dang easily but on the ultra rare times that he gets even a little burnt he’s the biggest baby about it, complaining about it for the next week even if it fades the next day

I have him listening to a whole bunch of Thirty Seconds to Mars when he’s not listening to the Top Gun soundtrack on repeat (almost always) but because it’s the Crazy California Vibe that the band gives off (also I have a whole post about his playlist if you wanna check that out)

He’s always the one making the lantern corps and his mini JL squad watch the most ridiculous things like Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping and his boxed set of 60’s Star Trek

He went absolutely bonkers when he found out they made a Star Trek / Green Lantern crossover series and he has every issue signed in a box in his and Barry’s apartment

He’s a super fun drunk that’s totally the one to start crying because he’s also very soft when he’s drunk

He misses his dad A Lot and some of his favorite songs are emotional ones about dads like Walk In The Rain by Passenger and Call My Dad by AJR

He treats basically every one of the younger superheroes and sidekicks like he’s their fun uncle but he has a super soft spot in his heart for Wally because he’s the OG Nephew

He cooks for all his friends and cooks dinner for himself and Barry almost every night and banned Barry from the kitchen once he almost burned the apartment down trying to microwave a hot pocket

One time when he was drunk he made all of the mini JL squad (the five other mentioned earlier) matching friendship bracelets and all of them almost cried and wear them every day or at least carry it with them in a pocket

Him and Barry were married a while ago but they have a Huge Official Wedding that’s tied up with Booster and Ted (who are in the same situation) and they’re popping the biggest bottles all night

One of his favorite hobbies is stopping by hospitals and retirement homes and putting on “puppet shows” by making constructs with his ring and sometimes he makes constructs of ramps or hot wheels tracks for Barry to run around when he tags along

He treats his actual nephews amazingly when he occasionally gets to see them and his nephews look up to him a lot and beg Hal’s brothers to let him visit more often
