The Championship Game of 1985 is only a quarter of the way done, and Eddie is already certain that it’s not going to be a Hawkins victory.
It kinda blows, honestly. It’s boring, like correctly guessing the ending of a movie five minutes in.
And yeah, sue him, maybe high school basketball is a legitimate source of entertainment—he can admit that in the safety of his own head, at least.
Take, for example, the first game of the ‘83 tournament, when a timeout was called with only seconds remaining: the Tigers’ last hope of winning was to miraculously sink a shot with the fraction of time they had left. The tension in the air was palpable as the team formed a huddle—Eddie couldn’t hear anything apart from students chanting, but he stood on his tiptoes and found a gap in the crowd, just in time to read Steve Harrington’s lips: “I’ll make it.”
And he had—with a goddamn stunning full-court jump shot, too, the ball falling through the net just before the buzzer sounded.
Like, come on. Eddie would only admit it under pain of death, but that definitely rivals the intensity of any worthy campaign.
But he can see none of that excitement now. The Tigers have had few opportunities to even get the ball, and whenever they do, Billy Hargrove seems to have taken it upon himself to hog the damn thing, like it’s a symbol of his masculinity.
Of course, he loses the ball—again—and his nostrils flare with anger.
Maybe that’s why Eddie notices it. He’s checked out of paying attention to the game itself, instead focusing on the jaded expressions of Hargrove’s teammates.
As the ball makes its way down center court, Eddie’s eyes are instead drawn to Steve Harrington. He looks pissed, wiping sweat off his forehead and shouting what looks like some pretty choice words at Hargrove’s back.
Hargrove doesn’t seem to acknowledge it, but for just a moment he goes completely still, and all Eddie can think is danger.
It’s covert, the way it’s all done. Hargrove’s move is quick and calculated; he steps far enough away afterwards that it looks like the whole thing is the fault of a rival player.
But Eddie sees the subtle shove. Sees Steve lose his footing.
He goes down hard.
Winces ripple through the audience. Eddie hears Robin Buckley from band suck air through her teeth, then ramble, “Shit, do you think it’s really bad? Beth Wildfire, on my soccer team, her bone, like, came out of her whole knee, you could see it, must’ve been six inches—”
It doesn’t look like anything as gory as that has happened; Steve is already up, and from the redness of his face, it initially seems as if the only thing that’s been hurt is his pride.
But as Eddie sidles to the end of the front row, within earshot of the bench, he sees that Steve can’t put his weight on one ankle, sees the telling way he grits his teeth while speaking.
“I can keep going,” he says, even as Jason Carver’s getting pulled up to replace him.
The coach barely spares Steve a glance, clapping Carver on the shoulder as he jogs onto the court.
“Get someone to take you over to the nurse.”
Steve’s spine goes rigid. “But I can—”
“Look, I don’t have time for this.” The coach finally looks at Steve directly, pointing a stern finger at his chest. “You’re benched, Harrington.”
Steve visibly deflates. He opens his mouth, but no words come out, and then he glances to the side, as if suddenly aware that he’s drawing attention to himself.
This time, when his teeth clench, Eddie thinks that it’s more from embarrassment than pain.
“Whatever,” Steve mutters, and he limps out of the hall—close enough that he clips Eddie by the shoulder as he goes.
Eddie doesn’t know that he’s made a decision until he’s already moving, stepping to the side.
He turns and heads for the exit.
There’s a jeering call from the bench: Mark Lewinsky.
“Aw, what are you gonna do, Munson? Nurse him back to health?”
Obscene moaning noises, punctuated with laughter.
Eddie rolls his eyes.
He finds Steve in the corridor, bracing himself with a hand against the wall. There’s a couple of pictures on the floor, class photos taken for the yearbook that had been pinned up; Steve must have inadvertently torn them down as he grappled for balance.
“Go away, Munson,” he says without looking. “Go back to the game.”
“I’ve kinda lost interest,” Eddie says lightly. He manages to watch Steve take one painful step before he simply can’t do it anymore—stepping forward, he says, “Christ, Harrington, here.”
Steve jolts away from his hand. “Fuck off, I don’t need—”
“Well, fuck you too, then,” Eddie snaps. Something’s burning in his chest, a sudden and fierce hurt. “Jesus Christ. You know what I am isn’t fucking catching, right?”
He shocks himself by saying it.
In the silence that follows all he can think is that, for once, his dad was right: he never did learn how to shut his damn mouth.
Steve’s staring at him, pressing his back against the wall like it’s the one thing keeping him upright.
“That’s—that’s not why—” He breaks off, looks completely lost.
Somewhere within Eddie’s own mortification, he takes pity on him.
He sniffs, tries to act nonchalant. “Don’t hurt yourself, man.”
“No, I—I didn’t mean…” Steve sighs. “I’m sorry. That’s not—I just meant—” He pushes off from the wall again, wobbles until his hand finds purchase. “Just meant I can do it myself.”
Eddie feels his heart rate slow. He tilts his head. Re-examines Steve’s posture: the set to his jaw, the pained determination.
Years ago, Eddie broke his wrist at the fair, thanks to an awkward crash while on the bumper cars. It was the first summer that staying at Wayne’s had become a permanent thing, and Eddie had hidden his wrist beneath the folds of his too-large leather jacket, but Wayne met him off the ride and immediately noticed (“Chrissake, Ed. I’m not mad, kid. Just… lemme help you?”).
Eddie tried to stay silent as he got wrapped into a splint, because anything else felt like admitting to something.
Felt shameful.
“Yeah, you can,” Eddie says, shrugging. He pauses. Takes a chance. “Doesn’t mean you have to, though.”
He moves forward again—slower this time. Offers his hand.
Steve takes it.
“For the record,” he says, grunting as he shifts his weight, “I could’ve kept playing. Like, I’ve had worse.”
Yeah, Eddie thinks, you sure have.
Steve clearly hasn’t sensed that Eddie’s thoughts have gone to how messed up his face was last winter, because he keeps talking.
“Anyway. My own damn fault.” A rueful grin. “Didn’t plant my feet.”
“Don’t,” Eddie says. “You don’t have to… I saw. I saw Hargrove, man.”
Steve scoffs quietly. “Yeah, of course you did.”
“Shit, Harrington, way to make me sound like a stalker.”
“No, it’s just—” Steve shakes his head. “Just typical, that’s all. Remember when the fire alarm went off, last spring? You were the only one who noticed Debbie Lyons was missing.”
“Uh, so?”
Steve smiles. “So… you notice things.”
Eddie doesn’t know what to say.
But he gives it a try as they round another corner.
“What the fuck is Hargrove’s problem with you, dude?”
Steve chuckles wryly. “I’m really annoying.”
“Yeah, fair enough,” Eddie says, grinning when Steve manages to elbow him in the ribs. “But not, like, ‘intentionally injure’ levels of annoying. He threw the game, too.”
“Huh?”
Eddie fixes Steve with a pointed look. “Took out one of our best players.”
Steve rolls his eyes, but still looks undeniably pleased. “Shuddup.” He sobers in the space of taking another step and says, “With Hargrove, it’s… there’s bigger things than basketball, y’know?”
Eddie hears the just drop it underneath what’s spoken. He nods.
They’re almost at the nurse’s office when Steve sighs. “S’not exactly how I pictured it.”
“Hmm?”
“My last game.” Steve winces slightly as they inch closer to the door; Eddie tries to take more of his weight. “Had it in my head that I’d win, go out on a high.”
Eddie’s staring down the prospect of repeating senior year again—he knows all about having ideas in your head that don’t quite pan out.
“Life isn’t like a movie, Harrington,” he says.
It comes out perhaps more fond than he intended.
For some reason, Steve starts laughing like he’s heard something downright hilarious. “Yeah, gonna have to agree to disagree on that one, Munson.”
In the nurse’s office, they find out Steve’s probably got a bad sprain rather than a fracture (“See? I totally could’ve kept playing,” Steve insists), but that he should get it checked out at the hospital, just in case.
Ice pack in one hand, Steve makes a call on the office phone, with what sounds like a morbidly curious teen on the other end: “No, dude, there’s no blood—can you be normal for, like, two seconds and put your mom on? Thank you.”
As Steve hangs up, Eddie is very aware that the right time to leave was probably five minutes ago.
He stays put.
“This was supposed to be my last game, too,” he says.
“Was?”
Eddie clicks his tongue. “Well. S’not confirmed yet, haven’t had my last test results back. But uh, it’s kinda like the game.” He nods in the direction that they came, towards the basketball court. “I already know which way it’s gonna go.”
There’s no judgement in Steve’s eyes. “Sorry. Must’ve been boring to watch.”
Eddie smiles. “Nah, you’re good.”
He doesn’t say that, in his eyes, Steve’s single-handedly given the school almost all of its memorable basketball moments. That his secret favourite one isn’t even a Tigers victory: there was a game when Steve was poised to take the winning shot, and a kid from Connersville fainted.
In the few seconds of confusion, Steve could’ve still taken the shot. He could’ve won.
But as soon as he realised what was going on, he refused to.
To Eddie, that says more about him than any triumph ever could.
The phone rings again; the nurse is letting a Mrs Henderson in at the front of the school to pick up Steve.
“Guess that’s my cue,” Eddie says, because there’s only so many people allowed in the office at one time.
“See you, Munson. Um, thanks, by the way. Hope next year’s championship is, uh, better.”
There’s something in the way he says it, like even while still in the building, he’s drifting away, high school in his rear view mirror.
Oh, Eddie thinks wistfully, you’re already halfway outta here, aren’t you?
Goddamnit. I might actually miss you, Steve Harrington. You and your stupid hair.
“Hmm, can’t see myself going to watch next year.”
“Oh, yeah? How come?”
Eddie lingers in the doorway. Maybe it’s the fact that in a few weeks they’re never gonna see each other again. Maybe that helps him say it. Makes him a little braver.
He’s never learned to shut his damn mouth.
“My favourite player’s leaving,” he says.
And sure, he leaves barely a second later; he’s not that brave.
But he stays just long enough to catch Steve’s smile: startled, pleased, and perhaps just a little shy—like he’s made the winning shot after all.

Meadema x Teen!Reader
Summary: You're taken to a new home
Tumblr media
You meet Beth and Viv two days after the new year begins.
Social services came around for the last time in the evening two days ago. They found you, curled up on the floor of your wardrobe, having locked it from the inside with a chain of interlocking hairbands.
Your father had been passed out on the landing and your mother was high out of her mind in the kitchen.
You got woken up, told to pack and taken away. You spend the night in your new social worker's office and then you're brought to their house.
Beth and Viv greet you at the door. You only know who they are because your social worker gave you the file before she dumped you here.
"Your room's pretty bare," Beth explains," We can go and get decorations if you want later today."
You survey the room. "It's fine."
It's more than fine. Your old room was a dirty old mattress that you're sure your uncle and cousins stole. Your wardrobe was second-hand and falling apart while your desk had different-sized legs and the accompanying chair didn't have a backrest so was functionally a stool.
"Are you sure?" Beth looks around the room. "We can get decorations. It's no problem."
"It's good," You confirm, placing your bin bag down on the bed (a bed with an actual bed frame!).
"Okay," Viv says," We'll let you unpack while we make lunch. Any allergies?"
You shake your head.
"We'll see you soon."
Unpacking is done embarrassingly quickly and you linger a bit longer to not look too pathetic in front of Beth and Viv. It's little more than twiddling your thumbs and staring at the clock on your bedside table.
You didn't have a bedside table at home so that's kind of nice. It's got drawers on it so you would be able to stash food in it if you needed to.
Beth and Viv seem like nice people but you can never be quite too sure. It's not your first rodeo in the foster system. Your parents cleaned up their act last time so there's a chance they'll do the same this time though, judging by the way your father was passed out on the stairs, you wouldn't be surprised if he ended up dead by alcohol poisoning.
You sigh softly as you get off the bed, stretching out your back in preparation before exiting the room.
"Hey," Viv says when she notices you lingering in the background," Lunch is ready if you want to sit."
You can't quite tell if she's just being nice or if this is an order. She looks a bit more stern than Beth does so you do what she says. Today's not the day to test boundaries.
She smiles though, when you sit down and slides you a plate. "I didn't know what you like so I just put on a bit of everything."
You look down at your plate and can't help the smile. She's made sure that everything's separate too, so nothing's touching and nothing will taint each piece of food.
"Thanks," You say softly, digging in. You don't know when they'll next give you a meal so it's better to gorge yourself now. You've got your hoard of food from your horse hidden in the drawers of your bedside table but you'll have to stock up soon because some of that stuff will be out of date very soon and you're not desperate enough to eat spoiled food just yet.
"Have you got a phone?" Beth asks.
You shake your head. You didn't even have wifi back home which really sucked when you were meant to do research for school.
"Here." She chucks a box at you with a smile.
You catch it out of the air and look at it. It's a phone. A brand new one by the looks of it.
You look at Beth and Viv in shock. Your previous foster parents had never given you things like this before. You'd gotten given a brick phone a few years ago when you were first separated from your parents but that had been flogged for drug money almost as soon as you got reunited.
"I..." You swallowed thickly to quell the tears you knew would spill down your cheeks sooner rather than later. "Thank you..."
"No problem," Beth says," Once you get it all set up, I can give you the Netflix password. There's a laptop coming too but we forgot to order it until last night. It should be here soon though, for your school work."
"Thank you..."
You feel a bit like a broken record, incapable of doing anything but repeating the same two words over and over again.
Viv smiles as well, sliding a bag of non-perishables at you. She doesn't say anything about it but you knew that she knew. You're not too sure how she knew but it must have been written in your file somewhere.
Your old social workers had noted a few times that you hoarded food like you were about to go into hibernation.
You like that Viv doesn't make a big deal out of it though. She just slides you the bag and nods.
You're oddly flattered and your opinion of Beth and Viv is cemented in your heart pretty quickly.
You just hope that they don't betray your trust because they're already shaping up to be the best set of foster parents you've ever had and all they're really doing is the bare minimum.
You glance around the house.
It looks nice. It's pretty cosy and warm.
You nod to yourself, looking down at the bag bashfully.
You think that you'll like it here.

Fluff, Injury, angst (not between reader and Leah)
Word count: 2,200
-
“How are you feeling about today?” Leah asks you, placing a comforting hand on your knee while you both sit in the changing rooms.
“A little anxious but I’ll be fine” You smile back at her. Today you play your old team, Man United. You’re still on good terms with most of the girls, however your ex-girlfriend, not so much. You haven’t played against her since you left last season, being sick for one of the games, and injured the other. Things already didn’t end well between you and Gabby, but when Ella accidentally let slip that you went on a second date with Leah, shit was she fuming. You received a few heated messages, to which you did not respond. So, today’s game, with you being a striker, and her being a defender, you knew you would have to be in her perimeter, and that scared you a little. You knew how good she was, but you also knew that she’d try to rile you up.
“You’ve got this” Leah whispered, inching forward to place a kiss on your cheek but moving back when she realised what she was doing, not knowing if it was okay or not. You two had always had a thing for each other. It’s been clear to everyone since your first England camp 3 years ago. Both were too nervous to make a move, especially since she had just come out of a relationship with Jordan. So, when Gabby asked you out, you said yes. The teasing and joking came to a stop once you and Gabby got together officially, but when you two broke things off and you transferred to Arsenal, it was back on in a flash. The second you saw her in the change room at London Colney you knew you had made the right decision. It wasn’t until 3 months later that Leah finally asked you out, very shyly. Your first date was electric, and everything felt right, the timing was finally right for both of you. A day later Leah asked you out for a second date, to which of course you said yes. Neither of you had embraced in anything more than gentle touches, and small moments of handholding, not wanting to mess up after waiting so long for the opportunity.
-
Stood in the tunnel at Meadow Park, you catch the sight of the jersey a couple of people in front of you on the line to your left “George” written across the back, you huffed, and she turned around making eye contact. You rolled your eyes and turned your head to face the front, where you caught sight of the jersey at the front of your line, “Williamson”, the long name curving and covering Leah’s entire shoulders. You smiled to yourself. She stood there, back up straight, armband on her left arm. She will play this game as captain since Kim is out with an injury. She turned back and looked at you, feeling your eyes staring. She had her game face on, and you were instantly turned on at the sight. You pulled a stern face at her “So serious” you mouthed. She rolled her eyes, but you caught her smile just as she turned back to the front.
-
The game started okay, Arsenal dominated the match, however, most of it was played in the midfield, and you were yet to touch the ball. In the 15th minute, Arsenal finally made a break, Lia had passed the ball through to Beth who then crossed the ball into the box, you jumped slightly trying to get something on your head when rather you felt a pair of feet swipe at yours subtly, hitting just enough to mess your landing and fall straight onto your front. You grunt hard trying to get up. Once you get to your feet you shake it off and turn your head to find Gabby smirking. You take a deep breath and continue on.
Gabby continued to make subtle digs at you through the first half. Harder hits when you were outside the box. You continued to get up, taking deep breaths, shaking it off each time. By the 43rd minute, she made a bold slide at least a good 3 seconds after the ball had left your feet, causing her to get fouled finally and you awarded a free kick. This time however you struggled to get up, having fallen weirdly on your previously injured ankle. You turned to lay on your back and propped yourself up, bottom still on the floor you rolled your ankle around, wincing slightly. That’s when you heard Leah a meter away from you. “What the fuck are you doing?!” She spoke quietly but still loud enough for you to hear. You turned to find her close to Gabby hands outstretched, but subtly, as if trying not to get noticed by the ref.
“What do you care? Protecting your girlfriend?” Gabby responded, scoffing.
“Just fucking chill out with it. You’ve been targeting her all game”, Leah walked away and jogged to your side. “You okay baby?” Your eyes widened at the nickname and your stomach filled with butterflies. Leah’s face remained concerned; brows furrowed. You stretched your ankle a bit one last time and moved your hand up to run your thumb over the line in between Leah’s brows.
“I’m okay” you smiled. “Your eyebrows will fall off if you keep scrunching them so much”, Leah giggled, the lines around her eyes creasing and you instantly smiled. “Now help me up”.
Arsenal ended up scoring from the free kick, Katie banging it into the box, and Viv tapping her foot on it.
-
The half ended and you all walked back to the changing rooms. On the way back you felt a hard nudge in your back, it was Gabby, almost walking through you. “Really?!” you shouted at her; she continued walking, blatantly ignoring you. You sat in the changing room, listening to Jonas and the assistant coach setting up the game plan for the second half, your ankle still slightly sore. Leah noticed you wincing slightly and rolling your ankle around.
She turned to you, “Are you sure it’s okay?” she questioned, gesturing to your ankle.
“Yeah, yeah it’s fine, just a bit strained”, you replied, giving her a sad smile. She grabbed your hand.
“Come on, let the physio tape it up for you.”
-
The team returned to the second half feeling energised and motivated. Eager to keep a clean sheet and score another goal or two. The first ten minutes ran well until Gabby decided to start her hard hits up again. She would nudge you hard, or step on your feet in a corner, hard slides still coming in. Leah ran to your side each time checking you’re okay not before giving Gabby the coldest look you’ve seen. It wasn’t until the 83rd minute when Gabby had pushed you hard during a corner, that you hit your head on the post while falling. You smashed to the ground, unable to open your eyes, the light making your headache. Your forehead started to pound, and you felt yourself start to drift. It wasn’t until at least a minute later your eyes started to flutter open, the medic calling for you “Y/n we need you to stay awake. Y/n open your eyes, come on, slowly that’s it, good job”, You saw two of him, sometimes turning to three. You tried to look around, but everything was blurry. You could hear yelling and the crowd oohing and gasping. You turned your head to the right, not lifting it, where you found Leah and Gabby going at it. Teammates attempting to pull them apart.
“Don’t ever fucking come near her again!” Leah shouted, finger in Gabby’s face.
“Or what, what’re you going to do about it huh?” She edged Leah on, moving closer.
“Stay the fuck away from her,” Leah warns.
“I’m not going anywhere Leah, how about you stay the fuck away from her” she growls back, again moving closer.
“She wants me around, that’s the difference between you and I” Leah’s finger points into Gabby’s chest. “You think doing this shit will make her want you back? She deserves so much better than you.” Leah growls. Gabby loses it, shoving Leah forward. Leah instantly shoves her back. They both continued on until they were finally able to be pulled apart. “If you ever lay a hand on her again, I will fucking destroy you” Leah yells to her. Gabby gets shown a red for the push on you and on Leah. She walks off slowly, and Leah shoves her off the pitch to hurry her up. She happily takes the yellow and runs to your side.
“Darling” Leah whispers, running a hand softly through your hair.
“Ow,” you whisper.
“Shit! I’m so sorry baby” Your stomach flutters again, almost taking all the pain away. She grabs your hands instead, squeezing them nervously.
“She’s going to need to go to the hospital, they need to run checks that we can’t do here,” the medic informs her.
“Fuck okay, she’ll be okay though right?”
“Yes, she should be, it’s a pretty hard concussion, but we need to check for permanent damage.”
“Y/n” Leah whispers, “They’re going to take you to the hospital, okay? I’m going to meet you there. I’ll follow you” She turns to the medic.
“No” you try to tell her, but your voice is almost inaudible. “You don’t have to” you rasp.
“No, but I want to, I’ll be right there, okay? It’ll be okay baby.” She kisses your hand and squeezes one more time before getting up.
-
Your eyes slowly flutter open, and you’re met with the white-roofed hospital. Lights shining bright.
“Y/n! You’re awake!” Leah grabs your hand and presses a button next to you.
“Leah?” you rasp out confused.
“Yeah, I’m right here darling, are you okay?” Suddenly a nurse appears at your side, asking you how you feel whilst checking your blood pressure and heart rate.
“What happened” you ask, slightly confused. Leah explained the situation to you, Gabby’s push into the post. “Fucking hell” you mutter. “What are you doing here?” you question her.
“I wanted to be with you, I needed to make sure you’re okay.” She rubbed your hand and you smiled at her, your heart rushing.
“I’m okay” you whisper back, smiling lovingly, and squeezing her hand.
-
“Alright Y/n I’m going to discharge you but you’re going to have to have someone stay with you for the next 24 hours. Do you have a family member you can call?” The doctor asks you, clipboard in hand.
“I’ll do it” Leah jumps.
“No Leah, you’ve already done enough stop it”.
“No Y/n you stop it. I want to. I’m happy to do it, darling. Is there anything I need to know?” She asks the doctor. He runs Leah through some instructions, and you stare at her, she’s listening intently, nodding along, focus plastered on her face. Your heart swells at the sight and your mind begins to think all kinds of loving thoughts.
-
A few hours later you’re laying on the couch scrolling through your phone when a video of Leah and Gabby from the match appears on your screen. Leah enters the living room. “Y/n what are you doing? The doctor said no screentime!” She goes to snatch your phone, but you pull back.
“What’s this?” you question her, turning your phone to face her. She glances and the screen and her eyes widen. She snatches the phone off you, locking it and throwing it on the other end of the couch.
“Nothing. You shouldn’t be on your phone” she tells you off and turns to go to the kitchen.
“Not so fast missy” You stop her. “Come here” Leah turns to you, looking at you questioningly. “Here. Now.” you pat next to you. She walks over slowly, head down. “What did I just watch?” You asked her.
“Nothing, we were just chatting about the game” Leah keeps her head down.
“Nothing huh?” Leah nods her head quickly. “Leah, you know I could hear the audio, right?” She groans and puts her head in her hands. “Hey, don’t go shy on me now” you tease her. “You know you’re quite hot when you’re mad” you whisper. Placing a hand on her thigh. She turns to you, and her mouth opens slightly. She inches forward, slowly. You inch forward too, meeting her halfway. You both stop just before your lips touch and look each other in the eye. You nod and the next thing you know Leah’s lips are on yours. The pair of you grab at each other instantly. You deepen the kiss, and it feels perfect. It’s passionate, but gentle. You could call it loving. Your lips mould together as if they were made for each other and everything seems in place, the two of you are finally here, together. After a while, you pull back to breathe. You smile against her lips, “My bodyguard” you whisper.
“Shut up” and like that she dives in to kiss you again.

Hello! If you’re taking requests could we see how the kbd universe would be if dove said a little bad word? I just love her she’s trouble!
kbd —steve's daughter repeats something she shouldn't. mom!reader
Dove used to be quiet.
When she was a baby, up until her terrible twos, Steve would estimate, she was about as talkative as her mouse of an older sister, Beth. Steve would tell people they were like the light and dark of the moon, Beth sweet and shy, Dove stubborn and a little stern for a baby. She obviously wasn't always grumpy, far from it, but she saved up her words for when she really needed them.
Like now, apparently. “Daddy!” she says, grinning as she runs through Robin's back garden patio. “Mora– Mora says– says–” Dove scrambles into his lap, the patio chair squeaking under their combined weight. “Grass is fucking wet!”
The merry processions of friendship scratch to a halt. Steve stares at Dove in shock, unsure if he's hearing his baby girl correctly. You gawp from over Beth's shoulders where she's sitting in your lap.
Eddie bursts into laughter beside him, smacking his poker cards down onto the glass table as he leans in.
“No!” Steve says instinctively. “Don't say that! That's such a bad word, honey! No no no!”
Dove is clearly torn between the two loudest reactions. She loses all regrets when you giggle. “What?” she asks, giggling in similar fashion.
“Baby, you can't say that,” you say through laughter, almost knocking over Beth's cup of juice as you sit forward. “That's such a naughty word!”
“Would you quit laughing?” Steve says.
“Aunt Mora has a potty mouth,” Eddie says. Despite his infinite outburst, he swoops in to back Steve up, and Steve remembers why he likes him. “You can't say that.”
“Grass is fucking wet?” Dove asks. Fuck sounds a thousand shades of wrong in her mouth.
“Oh my gosh,” you laugh, hiding your face in Beth's back. She laughs with you, tickled by your breath on her shoulder blades.
Robin pauses in the patio door with a jug of juice in one hand and a plate of sandwiches in the other. “Did she just say what I think she said?”
“Babe, please don't say that. Just say that the grass is wet, okay? Don't repeat Aunt Mora.”
Robin looks down to the bottom of the garden where Mora and your eldest daughter, Avery, stand looking at the flowers in the dirt beds. “I told her not to swear in front of them, I promise, but she thinks that kids deserve all the same rights as adults, you know? She's passionate–”
“That's what I'm supposed to tell people when she starts at school? Sorry my daughter swears like a sailor, her hippie aunt is just super passionate?” Steve asks.
You laugh so hard you start coughing. Dove assumes you're laughing at her, and she says fuck a couple more times to make sure. You almost throw up. Steve gets so annoyed he has to eat his sandwich in silence, but then Dove says, "Daddy, you want to see the fucking wet grass?" (Grass like gwass) and he lets out a startled chuckle. It's difficult to be angry from then on.
And yet not impossible. Fucking Mora.

Could you write something for Alessia where reader is her sister and gets her first england call up. I feel like less would be such a good older sister, slightly protective and over bearing but also just making sure reader is fitting in and has no trouble.

the call up II a.russo x sister!reader
you'd been sat with a few of your club team mates watching a movie together at beths house when you'd gotten the call, shock written all over your face as you glanced down and saw the contact name.
"go! answer it." beth whispered with an encouraging nod as you hurried to your feet and raced out of the living room, hyper aware of the eyes watching as you did so.
accepting sarina's call the dutch woman got straight to the point. you'd seen her in the crowd at a few of the home games you'd started in, and sure enough she advised she'd been impressed with what she'd seen, offering you a spot at the next camp with the senior team.
she was honest in the chances of you getting minutes in the game against scotland were slim, but the opportunity to train with the senior team and absorb and learn was there and waiting as you eagerly accepted, sarina advising she would see you at camp before ending the call.
your first call was to your parents who were over the moon, promising they'd keep it quiet until the squad for camp was officially announced, though within a few seconds your phone lit up with a flurry of notifications as the news was put into the family group chat making you roll your eyes with a fond smile.
you stood to return back to your team mates but your phone lit up with another call, your sisters name and contact photo she despised flashing across the screen making you snicker with amusement at the unflattering 0.5 angle of her with bed hair and a scowl in high definition.
"hi less." you greeted with a chuckle. "you still haven't changed my contact photo have you?" the blonde sighed knowingly as you laughed properly looking at it again.
"of course not, and i won't be anytime soon unless i take an uglier photo." you teased as she mocked you under your breath. "you're such a little shit. but anyway, why the hell did i have to find out about your call up from luca?" alessia scoffed accusingly and you didn't need to be on facetime to imagine the stern frown which would be plastered across her features.
"because no one in this family knows how to keep anything to themselves, you especially." you rolled your eyes, sending a smile and a thumbs up to beth who poked her head in to check on you, the older girl sending you a warm smile back and retreating to the living room.
"i should have been your first call, i'm your only sister and i'll be at camp too. your first call up to the senior squad is a huge deal!" alessia lectured before dropping tone and congratulating you, the two of you having imagined for years what it would be like if you ever made the senior team together.
you were disappointed not to make the world cup roster but having the extra time to focus on football with your club had benefited you immensely in other ways, and you just needed to consistently remind yourself that everything happened for a reason.
you'd started off your professional career with a short term contract at bristol city, and after a year of starting and a semi successful season you were offered a three year contract with manchester united which had always been your goal.
alessia had already known of the offer before you did of course, ella and mary having to practically hold her down to stop her calling to pressure you into accepting the moment she found out.
but none the less it was an offer too good to decline for any club, let alone your childhood dreams of one day playing for united coming true and to get the opportunity to play alongside and see alessia every day.
the two of you fought tooth and nail growing up as sisters did and always over the most ridiculous of things.
but regardless of that and the near five year age gap you were always close, your relationship only strengthening once alessia went away to college and you weren't living on top of one another anymore.
you'd only played a single season with united, most of it spent on the bench or as an impact sub, but you loved the girls and found yourself falling hard for manchesters charm.
which is why the loan had been quite the shock, no real warning given when the club accepted an offer from spurs on your behalf, both you and grace traded with the hopes of gaining proper game time and starting minutes under your belts.
alessia had kicked off the moment it went public, first at you for not telling her and then at everyone else who would listen to her frustrations which you knew mostly stemmed from a worry of how you would go moving to a different place and a different team all on your own.
only, you weren't alone. with grace by your side you adjusted easily into this new challenge in your life, you and the midfielder growing even closer than you were when you were at united, and now you both found no trouble calling each other a best friend, attached at the hip and practically inseparable.
"-i'll come and pick you up friday for dinner for mums birthday. i love you!" alessia confirmed, clearing pausing waiting for you to say it back. "don't you dare hang up and not say it back you little shit." your sister scoffed as you grinned, forever finding it all too easy to get under her skin.
"love you lessi, see you friday!" with that you hung up, hearing the girls in the other room start to argue over what to order for dinner as you took a moment to let it all sink in.
you'd finally done it.
~
"you've got your kits yeah? and the tracksuits, and the training ones, and your socks, and your cleats, and you need to be careful you're not wearing anything that isn't adidas branded if you're being filmed or there's pictures taken by the social media team-" your sister lectured over the phone as you rolled your eyes and flicked her to speaker.
"-then you'll get the schedule when you arrive but i'll show you where everything is anyway. if we're not roomed near each other i'll still come and find you every morning and we can have breakfast before training and i'll run you through the daily schedules-" you started to tune her out as you flicked through your closet, humming every now and then to appease her.
"-are you even listening to me?" you only hummed again, completely checked out of the conversation now as you wrestled to get your suitcase closed. "oh my god you've got me on speaker and you've left the room again like last time. OI!" you winced and zoned back in as she shouted loudly.
"no! i'm right here idiot. but i know you love the sound of your own voice so who was i to interrupt?" you chuckled, grunting as you sat on top of your case and finally got it closed.
“ha ha ha, very funny. what the hell are you doing anyway? why are you grunting and groaning are you working out right now?” your sister questioned. “no! im trying to close my case, which i now have!” you sighed victoriously zipping it up.
“you haven’t finished packing?” alessia shouted as you rolled your eyes. “less.” you warned, muting her momentarily as she ignored you and started to rant and rave about how you needed to step up and be an adult.
returning a few moments later you unmuted her, catching her mid story of something you really weren’t all that interested in.
“oh no less you’re breaking up I can’t hear you!” you spoke in a monotone, voice dripping with sarcasm as you scrunched a piece of paper and made glitchy noises with your mouth.
“seriously? you can’t even just say you don’t want to talk anymore? you have to make up some bullshit excuse and-“ her words fell short as you clicked the red end call button with a chuckle, tossing the ball of paper over your shoulder.
you watched the texts fly in from her, unhappy with your attitude and warning you needed to be mature on camp which you silenced with a roll of your eyes, interrupted by your security buzzer going.
“sorry don’t want any.” you grinned as grace’s head appeared in the security camera, the girl pulling a face and flipping you off as you buzzed her in. “cars here! im not comin up, you’re comin down. hurry!” the brunette warned as your eyes widened and you rushed about making sure you had everything.
you jolted in surprise as a knock sounded on your door, flinging it open and frowning when grace stood there with a grin. “aih ya dickhead the car isn’t here yet it’s not even ten, too easy!” your best friend laughed pushing past you as she dumped her own bags by the door.
“you are such a wind up.”
~
“you nervous?” you asked grace, tapping her knee to gain her attention as the car turned into st georges park and she pulled her headphones down around her neck.
“nah not really. you shouldn’t be either! we wouldn’t have been called up if they didn’t think we wasn’t ready, and your sister is here anyway to look after ya.” grace reminded with a smile, pushing your head with a wink as the two of you rough housed for a bit before the car parked up.
“cameras rollin. how’d i look then?” grace fluttered her eyelashes making you grin. “ugly as ever. come on hillary!” you slid out of the car before she could retaliate, groaning at the nickname.
you knew from the way your phone had been blowing up that your sister was already here, having arrived earlier this morning with lotte and beth.
so it wasn’t any real surprise when you’d hardly stepped a foot out of the car and she appeared, hovering at the top of the stairs with ella plastered to her side who sent you and grace a grin and a wave.
both of you grabbing your bags you flashed a smile and fist bumped the media staff who were filming entrances as you and grace ascended the stairs.
“ready for your first camp girls?” you and grace both echoed back a yes, grinning at the camera before someone wiggled their way in between you both and slung their arms over your shoulders.
"big sister gonna look out for you then?" the staff laughed as alessia beamed and squeezed both you and grace tightly. "well she's got big shoes to follow, we've been working on her backheel." alessia joked, the camera crew moving toward the next van which pulled up which was full of the city girls.
"less get off." you huffed, grace wiggling away and tackling ella in a hug, the taller of the two dragging them inside in a headlock as your sister only gripped you tighter.
"absolutely not, roomie." the older girl grinned smugly as your face fell. "oh you've gotta be kidding me!" you groaned throwing your head back in annoyance.
"she's messin with you, we don't share rooms anymore on camp." a new voice sounded behind you as you managed to throw off alessia's arm and charge toward them. "mazza!" you cheered happily, launching at her as she caught you with a grunt.
"baby russo!" the girl cheered in the same tone before dropping you back to your feet. "just my actual name is fine thank you." you shoved her playfully with a roll of your eyes. "not this camp or any camp after, that is your name now. or we could go with B.R for short?" mary teased tugging on your ears.
"i'm quite fond of her childhood nickname." alessia chimed in with a smirk as you sent her a murderous glare. "don't you dare, or i'll spill one of your secrets. and we both know that i have plenty of them to choose from!" you smirked back as her face fell.
"rat." alessia muttered, nodding for you to follow her as she grabbed your bags and headed for the elevator to show you to your room.
"we'll talk later. you spill some of those secrets and theres more where this came from kid." mary whispered, sliding a tenner into your pocket with a pat and a wink.
~
you were mid dream when you first heard it, the repeated thudding which seemed to leak into your subconscious as suddenly you realized you weren't dreaming anymore and someone was knocking furiously on your door.
raising your head from your pillow you blinked groggily and rubbed your eyes so hard you saw stars, stumbling out of bed and tripping over the corner of the duvet where your foot got stuck in bed.
hitting the ground with a thud and a grunt the knocking stopped for a moment and you paused, unsure if you'd imagined it.
"for god sakes hurry up!" nope, didn't imagine it.
"what?" you retorted grumpily, mornings your least favourite time of day as you rubbed your face and your sister barreled in past you without so much as a greeting.
"go away alessia its too early!" you groaned, shutting the door and trudging back toward your bed. "you haven't even hung anything up? for god sakes this is a hotel this isn't your bedroom at home you can't just fling shit around and leave your mess everywhere like a tornado!" your sister lectured with a click of her tongue, busying herself picking things up and putting them away.
"i've not even been here for twenty four hours yet less surely that stick up your ass is gonna sting something terrible by the end of the week?" you grumbled, sliding back into bed as your sister shot you a filthy look at her shoulder.
"hilarious. but you have to be professional here and set a good reputation for yourself, especially your first camp. that means up on time, early for breakfast, one of the first to the pitch, extra reps in the gym-" you tuned her out, quite the expert at it by now, eyes slipping closed again.
"urgh get off!" you moaned as a weight settled on top of you, wheezing slightly as alessia made herself comfortable sitting on your back. "you have...forty six seconds to get up yourself before i drag you out of this bed by your ankles and we both know i will!" your sister threatened seriously, checking her watch.
"you're so fucking annoying. this is worse than when we both lived at home, at least then you also used to hate mornings!" you exhaled deeply, star fishing out on the bed as she wriggled and purposefully bore more of her taller form into you.
"twenty nine, twenty eight, twenty seven..." the blonde counted down ignoring your statements. "can hardly get up myself with you on top of me can i bigfoot?" you snapped, alessia rolling off of you and squealing as your leg kicked out to push her off the bed.
"right! three, two, one." and with that she flung the covers off, grabbing your ankles and true to her word yanking you out of bed, your body hitting the carpeted floor with a thump as she loomed over you.
"get dressed. if theres no pancakes when we get to breakfast i will be holding you personally responsible and you will pay for it!" your older sister warned, grabbing your top in hand and hauling you up to your feet, shoving a pile of clothes into your hand and pushing you toward the bathroom.
"stop manhandling me hagrid!" you snapped as alessia chose to ignore you, making your bed up and getting herself comfortable on top of it, scrolling through her phone as you snatched yours from the nightstand.
"hurry up!" you were trying to brush your hair back into something more presentable, face still puffy from your half asleep state as her fist thumped loudly against the door.
with a roll of your eyes you gave up, flipping your head and tying your hair up into a messy bun. poking at the bags under your eyes with a sigh, the impatient knocking continuing as you quickly covered them up with a few dabs of concealer.
"i hope you break your hand." you spoke in a monotone as you flung the door open, barely having ten seconds to step outside before her hands grabbed the collar of your jumper and dragged you out of the room.
"let go less! i'm not four years old trying to run away in a shopping centre for god sakes i don't need you to hold my hand i am an adult." you huffed, ripping your hand away from hers and storming off ahead to the elevator as alessia hung back for a second to wait for ella to catch up.
"might need this though? and everyone says you're the genius in the family." alessia held up your key card which was the only thing that allowed you to enter and exit the elevator, holding it out of your reach.
"say sorry for being so grumpy." alessia demanded with a smug smile as you tried to stretch for the card without luck, your sister always having had a head or two of height on you with her ridiculously long limbs.
"no! didn't you make a big song and dance about not being late for breakfast? because the only one making us late is you!" the older girl groaned as you punched her half heartedly in the stomach, snatching the key as she doubled over.
"mary she's tryna kill me!" you hid behind the taller keeper using her body as a shield as she joined you with grace in tow, alessia sending you daggers from across the elevator as mary chuckled but remained a nice protective barrier between the two of you anyway.
"alessia!" you protested as your sister snatched your plate, dumping what you'd already chosen and picking your food for you, pushing you away every few seconds with her spare hand as you tried to intervene.
"why are you such a mum? i can pick my own food!" you demanded which was dismissed with a flick of her hand, too busy chattering away to ella to pay you and your whinging any attention.
"you have to fuel your body properly and that means a balanced breakfast." the blonde lectured, holding your plate hostage in her hands as she walked off.
with your food held captive you were forced you to follow her as you sent grace a pleading look who only smirked and shook her head, sat at a different table than the one your sister sat down at.
"baby russo! where have you been hiding then? i missed you." lucy pulled you into a hug as you took your seat beside her and across from alessia who finally slid your plate over to you. "hiding from her!" you grumbled, stabbing your eggs and shooting alessia a glare who smiled and wiggled her fingers at you in a sarcastic wave.
you sighed and glanced down at your plate which granted was loaded, but not with everything you'd have put on it thanks to your sisters apparent new nutritionist qualifications.
your face lit up as mary joined the table, subtly dumping two hashbrowns and an extra piece of bacon onto your plate with a wink as she sat on your other side squishing you between her and lucy as the three of you fell into conversation.
"oi baby russo, sarina wants to see ya." you'd finished eating as millie suddenly appeared, nodding for you to follow her as your face paled a little, head swirling with a hundred worries of why she might want to see you, all of them negative.
"i can take her mills." your sister stepped in with a reassuring smile as millie headed off to grab breakfast. "come on." she stood with a flick of her head as mary squeezed your shoulder and stacked your empty plate on top of hers.
following after your sister you didn't speak a single word, holding your breath until you stepped out of the cafeteria and the noise and chatter of the team ceased, exhaling shakily.
"come here." your sister spoke softly and opened her arms as you settled into them, your own wrapping around her torso as she embraced you, chin resting on the top of your head.
"i know all you can think of is bad reasons why she wants to see you, but if you freak out and focus on all of the what ifs then you're going to ruin this opportunity for yourself before we even start." alessia murmured, rubbing your back comfortingly.
"she probably just wants to check how you're settling in and go through the motions with you. so stop overthinking because i can hear your tiny little brain going into a meltdown." she teased lightly as you cracked a smile.
she let you go but her arm slipped over your shoulder drawing you into her side as she walked you down to the office, pausing a couple doors down and turning you to face her.
"i love you, sarina loves you, the girls loves you. this is your moment, grab it with two hands and make the most of it yeah? show them why you got called up and why you've earned a place on this team." her hands settled on your shoulders as if trying to charge you up with confidence as you nodded.
she might be overbearing, overprotective and over dramatic at the best of times. but alessia would always be your big sister and secretly, you'd never tell her this, without her you wouldn't be half the human let alone the footballer you were, and it flooded you with relief to take the plunge into this next step of your career with her by your side.
again you didn't dare to tell her that for fear of the relentless teasing that would follow. but you didn't need to anyway, she already knew, because sisters always know.

Daddy Issues
Biv Meadema x Teen!Reader || The Christmas break was ruined by your Dad's anger issues but Beth and Viv are there to pick up the pieces of your broken heart.
4.9k words (proud ✊🏼)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You were more than happy to be back in dreary London after the Christmas break, which was abnormal because you loved your home country and having Christmas with your family.
This Christmas had been a good one, after a couple years of cold and rainy summers, Australia had finally had a cracker of a summer and for the first time in years, the lead-up to Christmas actually felt like Christmas again.
You always loved getting to be home with your family and being able to go to the beach every day and this year was no different. Christmas day was wonderful, it started with a swim at the beach and was followed by a beautiful lunch filled with laughter and joy from friends and family.
Your relationship had always been a bit rocky. Sometimes you got on like a house fire, poking fun at your sister together and doing work around the house but other times you got on like cats and dogs. Your mum had always said that you two were too alike and that’s why you fought as much as you did. But it was also known within the four walls of your house that your Dad could be bipolar at times and had an explosive temper and should definitely be in some sort of program for his anger issues that seemed to come out of nowhere.
It was a few days after Christmas and only a few days were left before left to go back to London. You and your Dad were joking like usual and everything seemed fine, until it wasn’t.
You had some family friends over and you guys had just started a game of poker when your Dad asked you to go clean up the kitchen.
“Dad, we literally just started. I’ll do it after, don’t worry,” You weren’t facing him so you couldn’t see his unamused face and took his silence as a silent agreement.
Not even five minutes later he asked you again, “Alright. Now go do the dishes, Y/N,” He said sternly. You had an ongoing joke between the two of you where he would pretend to be stern about something and you would jokingly say ‘No’ right before getting up to go and do whatever he had asked of you. As you were still facing away from him and knew he could see you were still engaged in the game of poker, you assumed he was only joking.
“No,” You giggled slightly and so did the others around the table, “I’m almost out anyways, I’m running out of candy canes,” You joke as candy canes had been the substitution for money.
He only became more consistent with his asking and it was starting to piss you off. You weren’t very good at gambling and were trying to focus and his nagging was throwing you off.
Once you finally got out, first by the way, you were getting up to go and clean the kitchen when your Dad once again asked you to go and do exactly that, “What does it look like I’m doing?” You were fed up with his nagging and your voice portrayed that and the others around the table picked up on it.
“Someone’s mad they lose,” Your sister called out to you.
“Don’t be mad just because you lost!” Your cousin teased.
“Off you go to clean the kitchen,” One of your Dad's mates called out.
“Don’t be mad that you lost!” Your Dad called out which was the final straw for you.
“I’m not mad about losing, I’m pissed off because you’re sitting right behind me asking to clean the kitchen every 5 seconds when you can clearly see that I was in the middle of a game!” You can understand why your Mum says you and your Dad were so alike, but to be fair, he was extremely annoying with his constant nagging behind you.
After making your way inside and to the kitchen you began cleaning but were soon interrupted by your father storming into the kitchen pervaded with anger, "How fucking dare you?" You turned around and saw him making his way over to you.
You thought he was joking in the way you two had been for the past week you spent together, "What?" Your tone held an essence of humour to cover the genuine confusion.
"Get the fuck out!" Your father screamed at you.
"What!" You screamed in confusion as your entire body filled with dread and fear.
"After everything we've done for you! Get the fuck out!" You were trembling with fear when he stepped closer to you, held your arm with one hand and raised his other. You coward away from the large man you recognised as your father.
You ducked under his arm, picked up your keys and ran out of the house and towards your car. You got in and sat in silence for a moment before a wave of sadness washed over your body like a cold shower and you began to sob. You held your hands over your face and cried, you cried like you did when you were 7 years old and didn't finish your dinner because you were sick and your Dad yelled at you just like he had just now, like you did when you were 14 and stood up for your sister who was too scared to and your Dad's face was just as angry as it was a few minutes ago, just like you did when you were 16 and talked back to your Dad, fed up with his borderline misogynistic comments and you were almost as scared of him as you were right now.
You cried because you were scared your father was going to hit you. Your Dad always had a temper and exploded from time to time but never had he ever grabbed you and never had you genuinely believed he was going to hit you. Your hands were shaking and your chest hurt as you couldn't take in a full breath of air and your head was beginning to hurt from crying so hard. You were 19 years old and still crying over your Dad.
After 15 minutes of crying your heart out you started your car and went on a drive. You drove to the beach and took out the towel that was still in your car from your trip earlier that day and you walked towards the water. The waves had calmed and were no longer crashing into the shore with great force but softly rolled through the water and flattened against the sand with grace. You set down your towel and stripped from your clothes, thanking yourself for staying in your bikini all day and walked into the water.
You dove under the water and relished in the calmness and quietness you felt swimming. Once you'd swam out until you couldn't touch you moved to float on your back, closed your eyes and took a deep breath. You floated there numbly for at least 20 minutes before you got out and wrapped yourself in your towel. You sat in the sad, silent tears rolling down your cheeks as you watched the sun dip below the horizon. Once the light had been stripped from the sky you walked back to your car before the light of an ice cream shop caught your eyes.
You treated yourself to a double-scooped waffle cone and sat down outside the shop, looking over the beach you could barely make out. You knew how your Father would act if you went back home, he would ignore you, pretend you didn't exist and not talk to you until he felt better and after that time was up you would have to pretend nothing happened. You always did so because he was your father, your best friend at times and how could you not forgive him for screaming in your face?
You were grown now though and you weren't going to pretend this never happened and you decided that you weren't going to talk to him until he apologised. You knew that wasn't going to happen anytime soon so, you got out your phone and booked a flight back to London.
Once you had finished your ice cream it was well into the night and you had a flight to catch in 6 hours so you went back to pack your things.
You thought that everyone would have left by now and your family would be asleep but by the number of familiar cars littered through the street and the lights still on in your house, you knew that was not the case. You took a deep breath before walking into the house, keeping your head held high but not making eye contact with anyone. You walked straight past the living room ignoring the calls of your name and headed straight to your childhood room.
You were putting the few things that were spread around back into your suitcase when your Mum walked in, "Y/N, what happened honey?"
You tried to contain your tears as you turned to look at your Mum but as soon as you started speaking, the floodgates opened and you sobbed again, "I thought he was going to hit me," You said through the tears and your mother took you into her arms, securing your head with one hand, the other rubbing up and down your back to comfort you.
"I'm sorry, y/n/n, I'm sorry, but you know that you shouldn't push your father like that," You ripped yourself out of her hold and stared at her in betrayal, "You two are too similar, it's only a matter of time before joking become reality and laughing becomes crying. You know he has a temper, you need to be careful. I also think you should be the bigger person and apologise." She said. Whilst you didn't blame your mother for your father's actions a part of you despised how she always sat and watched you and your sister cry while he yelled at you two minutes after laughing with you.
You turned around silently zipped up your suitcase and walked to leave, "Where are you going, baby?"
You faced her with fresh tears born from anger, " I am leaving, I'm going back to London because I shouldn't have to 'be careful' around my own Dad. You know how fucked that is!? I shouldn't have to be the bigger person! He's a grown man, he needs to learn to regulate his fucking feelings and act like it!" You had never shouted at your Mum and you barely ever swore around her but you were tired of her picking your Dad's side over yours.
She tried to reach out to you but you brushed past her slightly and walked out the door. You should have been the bigger person and left silently but you heard your Dad laugh in the living so you left your suitcase at the door and walked to where your Dad sat. You walked straight up to him with a straight face, flung your middle finger into his direction and said, "Fuck you, you fucking pussy." You walked straight out the door and didn't hear a word from anyone in the house.
You spent the entire 24-hour trip back to London reflecting on the past day and what it meant for the future of the relationship with your parents. You knew your Mum just wanted to be the mediator and that your Dad was too stubborn to apologise. You also knew that you were going to stick to your word and not speak to your parents until they apologised. You also grieved the relationship with your father as you knew that it would never be the same ever again. It was one thing that he grabbed you and then he had to restrain himself from actually hitting you.
You grieved for the little girl who just wanted to please her father, who wished she was a boy because your Dad often talked about how much he wanted one. He was the reason you started football. Girls didn't really play it, it was seen as something only boys should be doing, so you cut your hair and signed up for the local club. He came to every game and cheered you on and after a good game he'd say to you, "Who needs a son when I've got you," It seemed like a nice statement but looking back on it, it really messed with you.
It was only when you moved out and overseas to play for Arsenal at 17 that you realised that your Dad really wasn't the best guy and an even worse Father. Albeit that you never said or did anything about it because you thought of all those kids whose Dad hit them or left them when they were young and reminded yourself that you were lucky.
But now, after 2 years of living by yourself and a therapy session here and there you realised that just because other kids had it worse didn't mean that what you went through was ok or that you didn't deserve to be treated the way you were.
When you landed and got your luggage it was 8 in the morning and you felt your phone buzzing in your hand. Beth was calling you and you weren't sure if you should answer but you knew she would worry if you didn't so you headed to the nearest bathroom and answered her Facetime, "Hey, Beffy," Your voice was a little hoarse from crying and you hoped Beth wouldn't pick up on how red your eyes were.
Beth smiled at you, "Hey chicky," She must have noticed that you were hiding in a bathroom, "What you doing?" She questioned.
"Umm," You hesitated, "I'm in the bathroom... In the airport," You said sheepishly.
Beth's smile dropped and her face took up a concerned look, "Why are you at the airport? Which one?"
You picked at your nails, anxious to tell her where you were and scared she would ask why, "London," You almost whispered.
"Oh," She looked really concerned now, "Do you want me to come pick you up?"
You shook your head quickly not wanting to be a nuisance, "It's alright thank you, I've ordered an Uber," You smiled slightly at the thoughtfulness of your friend.
"Well, why don't you come over for breakfast. I want to hear all about your holiday and I can even get Vivi to make the special waffles you like?" She was so hopeful you couldn't deny her offer and you really wanted Viv's special waffles.
"Yeah ok, I'll be there around 9? Is that alright?" Anxiety pulled at your chest at the thought of telling her and Viv about what happened with your Dad.
"Perfect, I'll see you soon, chicky!" You smiled and hung up the phone. You walked out of the cubicle and splashed water on your face to try and even out your breathing.
"Fucking idiot."
Thanking the Uber you rushed up the stairs towards Viv and Beht's place eager to fill your hungry stomach although once you'd got to the door you hesitated to knock. You checked your eyes in your phone camera and concluded that you could blame the slight redness and puffiness from sleeping and hayfever (it seemed you had hayfever all the time and the girls always made fun of your sneezes and even kept count, each time urging you to beat your 'high score').
You took a deep breath to release the hold anxiety seemed to have on your heart before knocking on the door. You instantly heard Myle and Rona barking and the sound and smiled, now excited to play with the puppies.
"Y/N/N! Oh, my little chicky," You were immediately wrapped in a hug from the girl and whilst reciprocating it you felt the urge to cry taking over you once again but you had cried enough for a long time and told yourself to suck it up.
"Hi, Beffy," Your voice was muffled from you pressing it into the crook of Beth's neck.
Beth waited for you to release the hug (she seemed to have a sense of when people needed a hug) and when you did she took your face between her hands, "How have you been, y/n/n?" She asked worriedly.
You smiled sadly at her, "I'm alright, thanks, how are you?"
Beth didn't seem convinced but knew you were aware you could talk to her at any time and if you weren't ready, she would wait, "I am even better now that you are here!" She exclaimed before taking your suitcase in one hand and your hand in her other and dragged you into the house, "Oh, Vivi! I've just gotten a very special delivery!" She turned back and winked at you but continued to lead you to the kitchen.
"Y/N/N!" Viv said with mock enthusiasm, trying to match Beth's with great difficulty with it being early in the morning.
You met her in the middle and gave her a hug, knowing she was joking and that she wasn't a morning person, "Hi, Vivi," You greeted.
Once you broke out of the hug you sheepishly looked to the waffle machine and back to Viv who caught on to your looks, "They'll be 'bout 2 minutes. I know two fluffy little girls who would love to see you," She egged on and you quickly went to find the puppies.
Once you spotted them you dropped to your knees and soon you had two dogs jumping on you and licking your face, "Hello Miss Rona and hello Miss Myle! How are we today my girls!" You spoke in a baby voice and continued to talk to the dogs as if they were such, oblivious to the conversation happening in the kitchen.
"Is she alright? She looks like she's been crying. And wasn't she supposed to come back in another 4 days?" Viv questioned.
Beth sighed and wrapped her arms around her girlfriend, "I don't know what's up but she definitely has been crying and I bet that would explain why she's back so early. When I called she looked like she'd only just stopped crying, I don't know what happened," She looked desperately at Viv. Beth and Viv were unofficially your step-in parents whilst you were in London or wherever you travelled with Arsenal. Beth was a second Mum to you and she took her role very seriously, always checking if you'd had a good sleep and what you had for dinner and if neither of you had plans she would always invite you over for dinner and a movie.
Viv was your unofficial 'Dad' as you'd claimed and would come over to your apartment to fix anything that needed to be done and give you piggyback rides when you were 'too tired' to walk, "Do you want to ask after breakfast? I don't want her to feel overwhelmed, maybe I'll take Myle and Rona for a walk and you could talk to her then?"
Beth nodded, "Yeah alright, I'll do that," She agreed with a sad face.
Viv noticed the look and hugged her again, "She'll be alright, she's with us now, yeah?"
"I just worry about her when she goes home. I miss her as well," She took a deep breath and put on a brave face when you walked in with Rona and Myle on her heels.
"Umm, I think the waffles are done?" You pointed to the waffle iron that was lightly smoking.
Viv rushed over and took out the waffles that were only slightly burned around the edges, "Crispy edges give them more flavour," she told you when she put them in front of you.
You looked up at her in amusement, "Of course, Vivi," You joked while adding your choice of toppings.
You, Beth and Viv conversed lightly over breakfast about your trip home and what you got up to whilst in Australia. You told them what you did with a smile on your face but they both noticed how it didn't stretch as far as usual and how you talked as if your parents hadn't been there at all albeit you staying in their house.
"Right, y/n/n you can go get yourself sorted in the spare room. You are staying tonight," Beth ordered jokingly to which you smiled and nodded in agreement, not really wanting to be alone for another night, "Vivi's gonna walk the puppies and I'll clean up." She clapped her hands and everyone spread off to their 'assignments'.
As Viv was a very clean cook Beth's cleaning was more or less tidying and she quickly joined you in the spare bedroom, "Hey chicken," She spoke softly when she walked in and noticed you staring at the wall looking crestfallen.
You smiled as brightly as you could, "Hi Beffy, sorry I got distracted. I'm a little bit jet-lagged," You waved off, "Do you need help cleaning the kitchen?"
Beth joined you on the bed, "It's all sorted don't worry sweetheart. How you feeling?" She questioned looking you deep in the eyes.
Her stare was so loving and concerned that it made that stupid feeling of crying come back, "I'm fine? You?" Your voice was slightly off as you had a lump in your throat but tried to play it off.
Beth sighed as she didn't want to press you but had to know what was going on with you, "Chick..." She spoke softly and you had to turn your head so she wouldn't see your eyes filling with tears.
She placed a hand on your shoulder and rubbed it gently and you couldn't hold it anymore, your hands came to cover your face and you brought your knees up to your chest and sobbed loudly.
"Oh, honey, no," Beth hated seeing anyone cry but you had a special place in her heart which hurt her even more. She moved your head to be on her shoulder and your legs to lay across her own. She rocked slightly and continued to rub your back. You were hysterical at this point, the comfort Beth was bringing you reminded you of your mother which reminded you of her taking your father's side which brought on another loud sob from deep in your chest.
Beth had to lift your head from her neck to make sure you could get enough oxygen and wouldn't pass out, "Honey, I know it's hard but I need you to take a deep breath for me please," She grabbed your water bottle from the nightstand and gave it to you and you clung to it like a lifeline.
You truly were trying to calm yourself but you couldn't stop crying and you couldn't get enough air to your lungs which was starting to hurt and you began to cough and gag. "Lovely, what's going on?" Beth was extremely concerned you were going to pass out.
After another minute of coughing and gagging you managed to get enough air into your lungs and nestled your head back into Beth's neck and she took your body back into her arms, "I thought he was going to hit me," You cried out as if the words caused you physical pain.
Beth was shell-shocked from the words that came out of your mouth but quickly recovered to comfort you. "Your dad?" She questioned as you had confided in her before about his temper.
You nodded and whimpered slightly as you had calmed down and were no longer audibly sobbing, "And mum," The thought of your mother made you sob again and it took you another minute to rein it back in all whilst Beth sat there patiently waiting for you to talk.
You managed a deep breath and Beth wiped your face free of tears although they were quickly replaced with new ones, "My dad got really angry and then he grabbed my arm and he had his fist up," You cried, "I thought he was going to hit me!" You sobbed.
Beth shook her head and cooed, "Did he?"
You shook your head and Beth relaxed slightly, "And then mum said- she said that I should know better than to push his buttons and that I needed to be careful and that I should apologise!" You weren't the only one who was angry now but Beth had to contain hers to continue to comfort you.
Beth shook her head, "That's not ok, y/n/n, it's not and I am so sorry you had to go through that and I'm glad that you told me, thank you for trusting me,"
You nodded sadly, "I love you Beffy," And you collapsed into her hold and cried silently as she rocked you.
"I love you too, chick, did you leave straight after that?" She questioned wanting to get a better idea of how quickly you left.
She felt you shake your head 'no', "I drove off to the beach and then got myself an ice cream and booked the flight. And once I got home, that's when mum said all that stuff but I'd already packed my bag so I went to leave but my dad was in the living room and he was laughing. I don't know what he was laughing at but it made me so angry so I went and called him a 'fucking pussy'," You both giggled slightly at it, you weren't known to swear and it always sounded weird coming from your mouth.
"I'm proud of you, sweets," Beth kissed the top of your head.
You nodded into her chest, "Thank you, for being here for me" You spoke quietly. Beth continued to rock you and had to look to the ceiling to stop herself from crying. She looked down when she heard quiet snoring coming from you and laid you down against the pillow and laughed quietly at you hugging your water bottle.
She had walked into the kitchen before she started crying. She didn't know how long she'd been standing there crying until two sets of paws jumped at her thighs and when she looked up she saw Viv's concerned face.
Viv dropped the leads on the kitchen counter and gently took hold of Beth's arms, "What's happened? Where's y/n?" She questioned quickly.
Beth sobbed quietly, "She- and her dad- oh and then her mum-," She couldn't get a full sentence out so after holding her in her arms to calm her down, Viv gave her a glass of water.
They had moved to the couch which was where Beth explained the whole story to Viv who was extremely concerned, "And she was crying so hard she was coughing and gagging. Vivi, I was so scared she'd pass out and oh her little face! I don't know how I kept it together!" She outraged quietly, acknowledging the fact that you were asleep down the hall.
Viv once again held Beth, just like she had you, "I can't believe it. I've met him and he seemed lovely. I mean I know they didn't always get along but I never thought it was that bad," She spoke in disbelief.
Beth nodded and was significantly more calm than she had been previously, "She's sleeping now. God, she must be exhausted. I feel so bad for her, my poor little chicken," Beth pouted at the thought of your sad face.
"I know, love, but she's here now, right? She is safe and she's sleeping, it'll be ok," Viv consoled.
"Yeah," Beth nodded dejectedly.
Once you woke up you checked your phone and realised you'd slept for 5 hours but it felt like you could sleep for an eternity. You didn't feel up to talking to the girls yet so you opened your phone and scrolled through Instagram for a while. Most of the Arsenal girls had posted photo dumps of the year and you smiled every time you saw yourself in one and when you saw the girl's comments. Beth and Viv's photo dumps warmed your heart. You appeared in almost all of the photos and laughed when you saw Katie's comment.
katie_mccabe11 might aswell adopt y/n/n now, hey?
You felt so loved and warmed that you decided to post your own.

Once you had plucked up the energy to head outside you were met with Viv and Beth tucked under a blanket with Netflix loaded on the screen in front of them and a variety of your favourite snacks on the table.
"Hey, y/n/n," Viv noticed you first and Beth quirked up at the sound of your name.
You were standing sheepishly in the hall with one of your pant legs pushed up to your knee, your hair a mess and your water bottle between your arms. Beth cooed at the sight of you, "Come over here chick," She moved over so you would sit between her and Viv.
"Any movie suggestions?" Viv asked teasingly, knowing which movie you would want to watch.
You smiled at her and leaned against Beth, "Grown Ups?" You offered and Viv snickered at the choice, it being your go-to movie.
"Of course," She put it on and whilst you could recite the entire movie off by heart you were still upset that you missed most of it but blamed Beth running her hands through your hair and Viv rubbing your lower legs for putting you to sleep, somewhere where you felt safe, warm and loved.

You hated school.
You hated every single part of it.
But you were fairly certain you’d never hated it more in your life then right now.
Moving to a completely different country had been enough of a big deal, debuting professionally for Arsenal was a pretty big fucking deal, but no struggle would compare to the one that was trying to do your A-levels. In Australia you were relatively smart, nothing exceptional but you were intelligent enough. Over there though, football had always come first. If you had training, football took precedence, when you had Matilda’s camp, it took precedence, if you felt like you needed rest after a tournament or hard game, it took precedence.
Around when you turned 15 your parents had made the decision to pull you out of highschool, you’d fallen into semi-home school, completely self lead. It had worked for you, you’d never liked being at school, you’d been asked to leave your first high school because of how disruptive you’d been to the classroom environment.
That was why home school had worked so well for you, you trained whenever you wanted and did school when you had a spare minute or two between training and travel.
Part of your contract with Arsenal though, considering your parents were sending you to England by yourself, was that you had to attend traditional school, something that you were not at all happy to do.
You hadn’t attended school in nearly two years, and it didn’t help that you’d never been taught in England, and that you were a troublemaker. Within your first days at your school you’d landed yourself in a fair amount of detentions and had been sent home twice. You’d skipped classes, left to go and get some extra training in, failed to hand in work and got in a fight with a girl. Your teammates were less than impressed, you’d gotten yourself a stern talking to from Caitlin and Steph, a threat that they wouldn’t hesitate to call your parents if you kept it up.
Your behaviour led to some more parameters being set, Beth and or Viv picked you up from school everyday, Leah had been named as the first contact for your principal and you’d made the promise to Jonas that you’d commit to schooling, and prioritise it.
In hindsight it had all been lies, something that you’d told the older women to put a smile on their face. It was a promise that you’d very quickly regretted making.
Today, when you walked out the gates of your school at 3pm, your bag slung over your shoulder and a scowl on your face as you trudged towards Beth’s Mercedes, in a foul mood.
You slung your body into the backseat, ignoring both Viv and Beth who were seated in the front and turning up the music that was blasting in your ears, you didn’t need one of their lectures right now.
You didn’t miss the concerned frowns that the two women sent your way, but you did ignore them, keeping your eyes on the car window as they began to drive, making their way towards the Arsenal training ground.
They knew that to put it lightly you hadn’t been enjoying school, that it was just something you were being forced to do. Most afternoons when they came and collected you, you were in a similar mood, but they’d noticed that the more days you went to school, the worse your mood seemed to get and they couldn’t quite get to the bottom of it.
You weren’t doing well in school, you didn’t understand or hadn’t ever been taught most of what you were learning, and you felt fucking stupid. All you teachers were prepared to turn around and do was tell you that you just needed to work harder, or pay more attention, and you were trying your hardest, but everybody was making you feel like you just weren;t good enough. That was why you’d always enjoyed football so much, because you were so good at it, school was just another thing for you, just another box to tick, especially since you’d made the move to North London.
Today was no different, just another day that you were spending doing something that made you feel so incredibly useless.
Viv passed you your normal after school snack, an iced caramel latte and a salad, food that you would normally hound down, but this time you left it unattended beside you, too busy with your thoughts to even think about eating. It was a clear warning sign for Beth and Viv, who in the four weeks that they’d been picking you up from school had never seen you not eat your after school snack.
“Sweet, is there anything wrong with the food?”
Beth’s voice was soft, tentative from her spot behind the wheel.
“Not feeling like it.”
Beth’s brow furrowed across her forehead, it was unlike you to not eat, food was your favourite thing in the world, something the Arsenal women had very quickly learnt in your short amount of time with them.
“You should eat something, we’ve got a long afternoon at the training ground.”
Training wise you didn’t actually have much on, a casual kick around if you felt like it. But you were reviewing last week's game and having a team bonding night, something that you were not feeling like engaging in.
“I’m fine.”
Your voice was dismissive, and whilst the older women had seen you in some downright filthy moods, something about this interaction was worrying them, you normally weren’t this grumpy after school.
“Did something happen at school Liefje?”
You kept your eyes on the window, watching as you slowly got closer to the training ground.
“Nope.”
You emphasised the p on your lips, hoping that your teammates would get the memo that you weren’t interested in talking about it.
“You know that you could tell us if anything was happening, this is a safe space, if someone is being an ass to you, kids or teachers we’d want you to tell us.”
You rolled your eyes at the window, just praying for a black hole to appear and suck you up.
“I’m not being fucking bullied.”
Your voice was so harsh, harsh enough to silence your teammates for the rest of the car trip.
When you finally did arrive at the training ground you practically jumped out of the car, in record timing hauling yourself and your bag out of the backseat and propelling yourself directly towards the doors of the centre, leaving Beth and Viv watching you from the car, completely curious about what had occurred to make you so grumpy.
You hardly made it two steps into the locker room before you were bombarded by Leah.
“Want to explain to me why I had to spend my afternoon on the phone to your principal?”
Her voice held a fair amount of annoyance, rightfully so, you were annoyed at yourself.
“It’s not that big of a deal.”
You walked directly towards your locker, slinging your bag into the cubby and keeping your eyes locked on the wall of your locker so you didn’t have to face Leah.
“Firstly, look at me, we’re having a conversation. Secondly, what in god’s name do you call how you are dressed because I know we aren’t sending you to private school for you to be dressed like that.”
You turned around to look at Leah, she wasn’t wrong, you weren’t exactly dressed presentably. You’re shirt was untucked, and unbuttoned, revealing the lacy bralette and tank top I was wearing underneath, my skirt was also hanging just low enough to cover up my ass, I looked like a schoolgirl from one of the old pornos.
“Tuck your goddamn shirt in and pull your skirt down.”
Leah’s voice was just as harsh as the one you’d used with Viv and Beth a few minutes ago, a taste of your own medicine you supposed. You obliged her request, tucking your shirt in with an eyeroll, and tugging your skirt down far enough that it was sitting at a socially acceptable length.
“Again, want to explain to me why I got to spend an hour on the phone with your principal this afternoon?”
You let your eyes travel down to your feet, which were clad with black leather school shoes. Some of your other teammates had begun to trail into the rooms, Beth, Viv, Kim, Vic, Katie, all of them watching as Leah’s scolding unfolded.
“It’s not that big of a deal.”
You said it under your breath, a mere murmur that Leah’s super ears managed to pick up.
“Not that big of a deal? Your failing everything and the amount of behavioural reports you’ve collected is truly impressive.”
It was bad timing that Caitlin happened to walk in as soon as the words left Leah’s mouth.
“You're failing?”
You took a deep breath, biting down on your lip as you looked down at the floor.
“My teachers are being jackasses.”
You fiddled with the hem of your shirt, it was true, in your whole time at the new school not once had any of the teachers offered to help you or explain something to you, all they did was criticise.
“And that’s a good enough excuse to tell one of them to and I quote ‘Go fuck yourself and your mom’ because I don’t think that’s grounds to call a jackass that.”
You were glaring holes into the floor of the rooms, not really sure what to say to Leah.
“All they do is tell me off ‘Y/n, it’s not good enough’, ‘Y/n you don’t pay enough attention’, ‘Y/n, work harder’, I’m trying my best.”
Your words were murmured underneath your breath, the aggression and emotion very clear in the tone of voice you directed at your Vice Captain.
“Y/n, out on the pitch now, go run off whatever this energy is and then come back in here with a new attitude because the one you have right now is piss poor.”
You frowned at Caitlin, but nodded in agreement with her statement, walking over to your locker and quickly changing into your training kit and cleats before heading out of the now silent locker rooms, making your way out onto the pitch and as soon as your feet hit the grass you began to run.
Growing up, football had been your only release, it still was. When you had a bad day, as soon as you stepped out onto the pitch it all disappeared, it all didn’t matter, because you had football, you had the one thing in the world that mattered the very most to you. Recently though, with all of the school bullshit you’d been feeling disconnected from it, feeling disconnected from the part of yourself that had fallen in love with your sport, that part of you had disjointed from your body, too affected by the intense depression that school caused you.
After you’d run your lungs sore you moved to the goals, rolling out 5 balls and placing them all down on the pitch, running around and kicking them at different targets in the goal before collecting them and doing it again. This was what you lived for, quite literally. This had been the positive of moving, the best part, that you were playing at the highest level you possibly could. But a part of it felt so wrong, it wouldn’t have been abnormal for you to have just dropped out when you’d come over, in Australia at least, hell half of your teammates had dropped out at 17 to play for the Matildas, including your closest friend, Ellie, but in England they were hellbent on you completing your education.
You’d practically run yourself silly by the stage you saw a crew of red approach the sideline. You sat down on the grass, tipping your head back to look at the mix of orange and pink washing in a sunburst tie dye across the sky, your lungs burning as they took in the crisp English air.
You tried your hardest to ignore the sound of a series of footsteps crunching against the grass, eventually ceasing when the group got close enough to sit down around you. To their credit they didn’t disturb you until you acknowledged their presence, your eyes falling from the sky to meet Beth’s.
“We want to have an open conversation with you about this, we’ll talk, you will listen and then you can talk and we promise we will listen. We’ve all calmed down, so let’s talk about this properly, yeah?”
You nodded in agreement with Beth, turning your head a little bit to meet Leah’s gaze. The harshness across her facial expression had softened, the intenseness of her face being less jagged and tense.
“We all know that you’ve struggled with adjusting to school, so what’s up?”
You bit down on your lip, the pink tissue being bared down on by your front teeth, this was the point where you could either shake them off or be honest with them.
“I haven’t gone to school in two years, when I was at school I was a troublemaker and when I wasn’t at school I only learnt what was necessary, I educated myself from 15 to now, and I did well enough, taught myself the basics of everything, had Mack and Alanna teach me the important shit. I’m not prepared for this, I’m not smart enough for this and all the teachers want to do is remind me of that, I just can’t focus like they want me to, or sit down and understand what the fuck a parabola is and how it’s relevant to my life. I didn’t want to fail, but I had all of this homework that I didn’t understand so I just put it to the bottom of my priorities pile, and then it was overdue and my teachers were annoyed enough with me so what even was the point? I’m good at football, really fucking good at it. School was never something that I worried about, but now it’s all I can think about and I hate it, I hate every single minute of it.”
You heard Caitlin sigh from her spot beside Beth, she’d had no idea that you’d been struggling so much, sure she was aware that you hadn’t exactly been a school enthusiast but she’d had no clue that you really were having problems.
“Plus, it’s like all everybody is doing is setting me up to fail, my teachers assign me work that they know I’ll never complete, you guys send me to school to try and learn shit that I’ll never understand, school just doesn’t work for me.”
You observed as the group of women’s frowns only deepened further, all of them feeling devastated that you’d been feeling this way and hadn’t told them.
“We aren’t setting you up to fail. We want you to succeed, we just wished that you’d told us about this earlier, we would have found you a tutor, hell any of us would tutor you, and we will from now on. From now on, no more hiding your homework or deciding that you aren’t smart enough to complete it. I’ll talk to your school, if you promise us all that you are going to be on your best behaviour then I’ll talk to your teachers and principals, maybe we can look at getting you some extra help, or a tutor. If it comes to it we’ll look at alternative schooling options, but I think you’re very tough on yourself, it’s understandable that you’d be struggling with this stuff, you’ve only been here for six weeks, you're still grasping the ropes. From now on, every night after school you’re going to bring your homework here and someone will help you with it.We want to see you succeed, y/n, we don’t want you having to go back home because you can’t prove to us that you deserve to be here, because we all know you do, it’s just about putting in the effort and attitude, that’s what we all want to see the most, we can sort out the grades after that, okay?”
You nodded at Leah, feeling a massive weight being pulled off of your shoulders as the older woman smiled at you, opening her arms up to you and you allowing her to wrap them around you. You relaxed into her body almost immediately, finding solace in the warmth and comfort that she provided, she’d really become an older sister to you in so many ways since your move, she was stern and strict for sure, but she also cared a hell of a lot.
You could feel your body beginning to weaken against Leah, the emotions of the past 24 hours starting to really fog your brain.
“Is our little student tired?”
You just groaned into Leah’s body, earning a quiet chuckle from the older woman.
“C’mon kiddo, let’s get you inside and then you can sleep for as long as you’d like.”
You allowed Caitlin and Viv to carry you back to the changerooms, the two women very quickly slipping you into a tracksuit before laying you down on one of the coaches in the communal hangout room. The group was about to leave you to relax before you emailed at them.
“Hugs.”
The group of women snorted at your insistence, Caitlin trailing behind and sitting down on the couch beside you, gently pulling you into her arms and wrapping them around you. She was ready to protect you from anything and everything, whether that was a rogue soccer ball or a nasty teacher.
“Mm sorry Cait.”
Caitlin just smiled down at you, her hands gently working their way through your tresses as she watched your eyes grow even heavier as sleep loomed over you.
“Don’t worry about it chook, we’ve got you now, no more doing it all alone, we’ll help you from here on out, no more fighting every battle, we’ve got you.”

"What are we?"
Warnings: None
Pairings: Leah Williamson x reader
Words: 2222 (angel number??)
*First Leah fic, still gonna be writing for OBX and stuff so don't worry but I like this now too so I'm also gonna be writing more WOSO stuff, I actually already have a second Leah fic lined up after this one, inspired by this so it'll probably be the same timeline and background and stuff.
Tumblr media
You were a forward for the Arsenal women's team, having scored a fair few goals for the team you were popular with the fans. However even after all your time at the club you were still rather quiet and reserved, becoming good friends with Lotte and Viv pretty soon after joining, and of course being friends with Viv meant eventually being friends with Beth and of course Leah.
Beth and Leah had managed to soon get you to open up around them, the latter of the two quickly realising how her mood instantly lifted whenever you were nearby, finding it hard not to smile at just the thought of you sometimes. Slowly you had found yourself talking to Leah more easily, at first finding her rather stern and slightly intimidating. Now you were excited to tell her about your day or to listen to her talk about all the new songs she had found since you two last spoke.
Eventually as the season progressed, so did your friendship with the defender, whenever you would score goals, whether they were strong and thought out or a chance you took with your eyes closed, Leah was always one of the last ones to leave the celebration, her hands and arms holding onto you the tightest out of all your teammates. After one particular game changing goal against Liverpool, you were quickly bombarded with hands patting your head and back and shouts of praise being thrown your way, but it was one set of strong arms wrapping around your shoulders that caught your attention; warm breath hitting your cheek as she pressed her chest against your back, her face pressed close to your ear.
 “Y/n that was unbelievable- you're unbelievable, oh my god!” What was surprising though was the quick kiss that she planted on your cheek, squeezing you one last time before running off back into her position. Not that you minded the way her arms felt around your torso when she was jumping in happiness at Arsenal scoring, or how close her face got to yours during that too. In fact you found yourself missing her presence afterwards when she wasn’t close to you. But she was like that with everyone right? Always the supportive vice captain, that’s all it was, is what you told yourself whenever your mind wandered to the what ifs.
You found yourself asking the same questions during training a few days later, the trainers wanting everyone to pair up in the gym to do some 1v1 work together, you saw the blonde’s head turn your way the second the words left the coaches mouth, you were also about to make your way over to her to pair up before Victoria had grabbed your attention to be her partner instead. For the rest of the exercise you couldn’t help but notice the rather attractive frown on her face the whole time, it not going missed by Lia either; who had paired with Leah after seeing her disappointment at not being with you. Lia couldn’t help but be amused at the situation, throughout the whole time she had known Leah she had never seen her be this jealous or love struck over a girl before. At the end of session, you and Pelova had finished before Leah and Lia did, so you grabbed the blonde’s water bottle and made your way over. As soon as her eyes met yours she was like a completely different person, smiling and laughing at what you were saying, shoulder bumping into yours as you guys grabbed your bags. You both went your separate ways that afternoon, however the way her moods changed earlier that day had been stuck in your mind for the rest of the night.
Every time you even thought about the possibility that she liked you as much as you liked her, you would get a slight flutter of butterflies in your stomach, eventually having enough of it and deciding to send her a quick message. After that it was hard to find a time where the two of you weren’t messaging each other, or facetiming while getting ready. Naturally this led to you both hanging out a lot more, movie nights, meeting up at little cafes or bars or sometimes going mini golfing or bowling. None of these had been called dates, but the way your hands intertwined casually and the longing looks shared throughout the nights, played on your mind, and unknown to you, Leah thought about them too.
 After a few months of this going on, it was obvious to the two of you that you both liked each other, however there seemed to be something stopping either of you from making the move and making it official, the fear of it not working out and then losing a friend and a good teammate being too strong. Once Leah was able to drive again after her surgery, she would pick you up and drop you off back home, not being too keen on the idea of you walking on your own after late training nights. It took surprisingly less time than you thought for Leah to give up her treasured DJ privileges and let you take control of the music in the car, it didn’t stop her from being overly opinionated about the music you played though. One night after the two of you had been out to an arcade for a few hours, you were sat in the passenger seat, the conversation had since died down into a comfortable silence, street lights lit up the car every few seconds causing you to notice Leah's clenched jaw out of the corner of your eye, a hand gently landed on your right thigh. Thumb stroking over the jeans softly as the tapping of her other hand on the wheel to the beat of the song filled the car, she was nervous you could tell, not wanting to draw attention to her you placed your own hand on top of hers. A silent response that it was okay, and you liked it. It was almost as if that night had opened something between the two of you, now comfortable with holding each other more often, hands in hands, or chests pressed against backs in the comfort of your house or her flat.
Eventually it started to feel like the two of you were becoming something, knowing each other's schedules, each other’s favourite snacks or drinks to have after a match or at a movie night at each other's houses, the two of you even had some spare clothes and pajamas in a dedicated draw in the other girl’s room. After one particular group dinner at your place, cooking for what felt like half the team, Leah asked to sleep at yours, something that the two of you had done before but it still sent a surge of butterflies through your stomach, an instant smile at the thought of spending alone time with the girl. You quickly agreed and once everyone had helped clean up and left, not even an hour later you both were in lying in your bed, time had gone by pretty fast and before you knew it, you had spent countless hours awake together, talking about almost anything, ignoring the plot of the movie you two put on as it now only served as background noise.
 Even hours after the two of you said you would be fast asleep, you were lying next to each other, shoulders touching and legs intertwined, giggling and silently laughing at each other’s bad jokes, hands grasping onto arms and heads turning to face each other as the laughter mellowed into giggles. Leah's eyes gently watched you as your hand reached up to tuck her fringe behind her ear, removing it from blocking her eyes. Only to giggle as it once again fell back to where it was, you moved it again, this time keeping your hand where it was against the side of her face; thumb moving up and down against her cheekbone. Her head moved slowly towards yours, nose pressing against yours, eyes holding eye contact, neither of you needed to speak to be able to understand what was being said, with a small nod of your head Leah’s lips were on yours. This was the first night of many that ended in gentle kisses while arms held each other close, waking up in the morning under warm covers with Leah’s long legs hung over your waist, an instant smile at how she even manages to frown in her sleep.
Though it wasn’t long after that first kiss that things started to escalate a little bit more, Leah always holding her hand out for you to take even in front of teammates, you guys had obviously held hands before but the slight fear of it being noticed by someone had always been there. But now it was like neither of you cared, too caught up in your own bubble to notice that people were looking, especially Beth and Katie. They noticed that one time Leah accidentally or not wore one of your hoodies to training, they knew it was yours because it was your favourite- always wearing it or having it in your bag in case. They noticed whenever Leah would make sure you were walking in front of her in crowded places, hands on your waist, her height advantage over you making it easy for her to direct you through the sea of people. They also noticed how not being official would affect the two of you when being single was brought up in conversation or online, with speculation and shipping by fans- or when a stranger would mindlessly flirt with either one of you on a night out.  And so because of this they took it upon themselves to get you both to finally confess your strong feelings to each other and make it official.
Not long after they had discussed their plan with Viv and Lotte, deciding to tag team the two of you and separately have the same talk about confessing your obvious love for each other, reminding you of how down you felt whenever you were reminded that Leah wasn’t yours, and you weren’t Leah's; convincing you and Leah the feelings were obviously there and so it would be stupid and painful to not follow and listen to them.
That led you to where you are now, sat almost cuddled under a warm blanket on a cold October evening, hands itching to grab a hold of the other but the conversation ahead was making the two of you nervous. Space that was never usually there was present between both your bodies, a random episode of a tv show you’re both watching playing on the tv, the air around not awkward; never awkward with you two, just quietly comfortable but slightly scary.
“Lee, what are we?” you had asked rather suddenly, your voice almost a whisper. Leah who had been focused on her nail polish, nervously checking it over and over again, stopped and turned to face you, eyebrows pulled down into that very attractive frown that you loved. Her head leaning to rest against her hand, arm perched on the back of the sofa. Copying her movements you turned to face her too, smiling as you reached up to rub a finger along the two lines in between her eyes, reminding her to relax her face; she secretly adored it when you did that, admittedly sometimes frowning on purpose just for you to do it.
“What do you mean? We’re us, we’re good right? Just the way we are?” Her words had almost made your stomach drop, thinking that now you had definitely read it all wrong and maybe she doesn’t want to make it official or be with you for real. You had to remind yourself what your friends had told you earlier that day as you took a big breath in.
“Yeah of course we’re good, but it would be good if we were more too, right? Even better maybe, cause then you’d be mine for real… And I would be yours for real, if you wanted.” The second those last words had left your mouth, Leah nodded, humming in agreement with your words.
“Yeah, yeah that would be good. Maybe a little scary but we’ll be alright I reckon.” Laughing towards the end of her words, she took one look at you and then pulled you into a kiss, a gentle, warm kiss like the many you’ve shared before but this one felt more passionate; possessive maybe? At the fact that you were now each other’s, comfortably and happily each other’s.  “So I guess this means no more hiding it?”
“God shut up!” You laughed and pushed her away before pulling the blanket further up, cuddling back into her side, relieved that the hard part of the conversation was now over. “We were shit at hiding it anyway, pretty sure everyone knew already.” Leah had quietly laughed at your words, wrapping her arms around your upper body, head resting atop yours, forever thankful to their friends for giving them a talking to, because now Leah get’s to fall even more in love with you, and she will love you, sincerely, effortlessly and completely.

You never truly appreciated how much you took your knees for granted until it was too late, leaving you to confront the stark reality of their absence during the grueling weeks that followed after your surgery.
The initial stages of your rehabilitation post-surgery, each day felt like an uphill battle against the constraints of limited mobility. Every single step was a painful reminder of your body’s fragility, which left you teetering on the edge of frustration.
The simple tasks you once took for granted now felt like insurmountable challenges, even the thought of walking a few steps sent a wave of discomfort radiating through your knee, serving as a constant reminder of your newfound vulnerability.
Reflecting on the moment that led to this predicament, you can’t help but regret it as your knee injury could have been avoided. Perhaps if you had chosen a different path that fateful night, the outcome would have been drastically different.
“Where are you off to?” Viv’s concerned voice broke through your thoughts, she had virtually been watching over you like a hawk since your return from the hospital.
“I’m just going to the toilet” You muttered, struggling to get up from the sofa but you were just too stubborn to ask for any sort of help.
Vulnerability was something you’d never dealt well with, it was a trait that was deemed unacceptable in your previous harsh upbringing. Weakness was a luxury that you couldn’t afford, it was a lesson that had been ingrained in you from childhood.
You could practically hear the stern cold voice of your biological father as if he were standing directly behind you, whispering into your ear.
“Do you need a hand?” Beth’s offer was laced with genuine concern, finding it difficult to watch you struggle unwillingly.
“No” You snapped, the frustration bubbling to the surface; You hadn’t meant to be so horrible, it was just sometimes easier to revert back to a defensive coping mechanism that you had been conditioned to over the years as you grew up.
“Just know I’m here if you need me” Beth’s reassurance hung in the air, a lifeline amidst the uncertainty.
“Just shout for us if you need anything, okay?” Viv chipped in, reminding you as she watched you limp off in the direction of the bathroom, although there was a weight of worry lingering incase you somehow hurt yourself in there.
Beth noted her girlfriends’ vigilant gaze and softened her expression, “She’ll be alright, Viv. She’s only gone to the loo, remember?” she joked, amusedly.
“I know, I am just worried in case she aggravates her knee or something” Viv admitted her concern, anxiously biting her bottom lip, “She really needs to be cautious” she added.
“It’s okay to be worried, but we have to let her do things for herself” Beth replied, offering comfort to alleviate her girlfriend's anxiety about you, “If needs help then she’ll shout, remember?” she reminded her.
Viv folded her arms, still visibly worried for you as she tried to listen out in case there’s a sudden slip in the bathroom, “I just can’t help but feel anxious, Beth. What if she hurts herself in there?” she repeats her worries.
“I understand, liefje” Beth placed a comforting hand on Viv’s shoulder, “But we have to let her have some independence too. We can’t smother her with our concerns” she explained to the Dutch woman.
“You’re right, I just need to remind myself of that– I just hate that she is going through this. It’s not fair” Viv mumbled, shaking her head.
Beth gently took a hold of Viv’s hand and squeezed it, “It really isn’t fair, but we’re going to do all that we can to support her, every step of the way, no matter what” she declared.

Deep down, you knew your injury wasnt anyone’s fault, yet your reflex was to just continuously push your loved ones away once more.
Despite your attempts, it seemed futile, especially with surprise visits becoming a regular occurance.
Apparently, today was no exception.
Unable to start your rehab anytime soon, you found yourself wrapped up in self-pity on your bed, cocooned in blankets and lost in a Netflix TV show that you had zero interest in but since your remote has gone AWOL, it left you with no choice but watch it, but at least Myle was there for company.
“Y/N/N/! We’re here!” Kyra’s unmistakable voice cut through the air, announcing her arrival.
“Kyra, she might be asleep” Alessia’s voice followed through, a touch of caution in her tone.
“Well, she might not be” Kyra retorted, barging into your room with her usual typical energy to find you awake, “See, Less? Told you that she wouldn’t be asleep!” she grinned back at the blonde.
“Wouldn’t have much chance with the way you’re shouting” You mumbled, acknowledging both of their presence.
Alessia offered an apologetic smile, “Hey, Y/N/N. We just wanted to come and see how you’re doing” she explained.
“Oh, you know? I’m fantastic” You words are laced with sarcasm.
“Well, we brought snacks” The blonde attempted to lift your dampened mood, gesturing to the bag of the treats that they had brought you.
“Wonderful” You barely entertain the idea of the sugary treats as you keep your gaze fixed on the ceiling, disinterested.
“I can tell she’s definitely excited about that” Kyra mocked your enthusiasm, taking hold of the bag from Alessia’s hands.
Alessia shot Kyra a warning look before turning back to you, concern etched on her face, “Hey, Y/N/N, are you okay? Truthfully?” she questioned.
“Just fuckin’ peachy” You sighed dramatically, still refusing to meet their gazes, dismissing them with a wave, “How’d you guys get in, anyway?” you asked, changing the subject.
“Beth let us in before she left” Kyra explained, perching on the end of the bed.
“Oh” You mumbled in agreement.
“Someone’s feeling grumpy today” Kyra teased, her tone dripping with sarcasm as she started to delve through the bag and pull out a packet of sweets.
You snatched the packet away, tearing it open with unnecessary force, “Wouldn’t you  be if you couldn’t walk with out assistance?” The frustration was evident in your tone of voice.
Kyra raised her hands in mock surrender although the mischief still sparkled in her eyes, “Noted. I’ll steer clear of touchy subjects” she quipped, exchanging a glance with Alessia.
Undeterred, Alessia took a seat beside you, mindful of your injury, “I get it that you’re frustrated, Y/N/N” she said softly, attempting to connect with you.
You rolled your eyes with the irritation simmering, “Well, excuse me for not being in the mood for a pep talk” you remark, your tone sharp.
“Come on, lighten up, mate” Kyra interjected, reclining against the bed’s end with a playful grin.
Ignoring her, you continued to sulk, stuffing more sweets into your mouth  with unnecessary force, not in the mood for conversation.
Alessia sighed as her concern deepend, “I just… I thought maybe you could use someone to talk to. We know what you’re going through is difficult right now” she ventured cautiously.
“I don’t want to talk about it” You snapped, your frustration boiling over, “I just want to talk, that’s all I want. I want to be able to get out of this damn bed and feel normal again!”
“Well if you’re looking for a miracle, I think you’re in the wrong place” Kyra couldn’t resist a quip to wind you up.
“Kyra” Alessia’s reprimand was gentle but firm, signaling an end to the teasing.
A tense silence settled over your room, broken only by the sound of your frustrated sighs and the crinkle of the sweet packet that Kyra continued to help herself too.
“Listen, Y/N/N, we’re here for you, okay?” Alessia told you with a gentle voice, “Whatever you need, whether it's someone to talk to or just in silence together, we’re here” she stated, determinedly.
You met her gaze, your eyes reflecting a mix of frustration and gratitude, even if you were sometimes way too stubborn to admit it, “Thanks, Alessia” you muttered, the harshness of your voice starting to dull as you realised that it wasn’t any good to take your anger out on your team mates, who only wanted to help you.
Sensing the shift in atmosphere, Kyra leaned forward as her playful demeanour was replaced with genuine concern, “Seriously mate” she said, her voice uncharacteristically serious, “We hate seeing you like this. Is there anything we can do to help?” she asked.
You hesitated to answer, you were torn between your desire for independence and the comfort of having your friends by your side, “I don’t know” you admitted finally, your voice wavering slightly, “I just… I just hate feeling so helpless, you know?”
Alessia reached out, placing a comforting hand on your shoulder as she gently pulled you into her embrace, “It’s okay to feel that way” she said softly, “But you’re not alone in this. We’ll all help you get through it together” she promised you.
For a moment, the weight of your injury felt a little lighter, the burden now shared amongst your friends who refused to let you face it alone.
“Thanks, Lessi. Thanks, Kyra” You mumbled, burying your head in her chest as you allowed yourself to lean on them for their support, knowing no matter how tough the road ahead might be, you wouldn’t have to walk in alone, “Could one of you please pass me the remote? I don’t know what I’m watchin’ but it’s so boring” you muttered, complaining which made the two of them laugh.

could u do a fic with soft/smitten leah and her teammates making fun of her for it because she’s usually cold and not emotional or soft.
yes omg !! i love reading fluffy fics like this like these, i legit devour them. hope i can do it justice !!
obsessed / l. williamson
Tumblr media
AN - this is a little short but i hope it’s good !! i’m tempted to start writing for some more people (namely ella toone, ona batlle, katie mccabe, keira walsh, georgia stanway and more.) so i’d love to get requests for them as well!! (or i might just write for them if inspiration strikes)
————
leah is tough. she’s strong, she’s intimidating and she’s a force to be reckoned with. she doesn’t mind being seen as stern sometimes, she likes the intense and challenging aura she gives off. she captained a team of european champions, and she wants her opponents to know.
her teammates know that leah would never hurt a fly, no matter how much she denies it, they know she has a soft side to her. despite her ever-so-serious nature when it comes to the football pitch, she can never fight back a smile when she sees you. it’s something about you, it’s as if you are the key to unlocking this part of her.
leah is smitten, it’s clear as day.
everyone knows it. her teammates know it, her family knows it, even her managers know it. you have her wrapped around your finger.
no matter what it is, leah would do it for you. thirsty? stay there, leah will get you some water. tired of walking? leah’s got you in her arms, carrying you for the rest of the day. struggling to walk in heels? her shoes are yours now. sun in your eye? you best believe that leah is going to move the sun itself out of the sky for you.
the girls (featuring ruesha, our honorary teammate for the night) are gathered at beth’s house for movie night. leah convinced everyone to do a harry potter marathon together (fuck j.k rowling btw). everyone sits together in beth’s living room. beth and viv in their respective seats and the rest of the team scattered among the chairs, beanbags and floor. leah sits on the sofa, eager to watch the movie with a bowl of crisps on her lap. katie smirks as she spots an empty seat next to leah, deciding to tease her.
“oh, thanks lee.”
the irish woman takes the seat next to her. leah scowls at her, and carefully places the bowl of crisps on the floor before forcefully pushing katie off of the sofa and onto the ground.
“seat’s reserved, mccabe.”
as if on cue, you come bounding in through the door with two drinks in your hands and a grin so bright that it could rival the glow of the stars (or that’s what leah thinks anyway)
the minute her eyes are on you, a grin takes over her features as she pats the seat next to her, gesturing towards you. you hand her the spare drink in your hand as you take the seat next to her
“for you, grumpy!”
leah rolls her eyes playfully, fighting off a smile as she takes the drink off of you. a gasp can be heard from below the both of you, as a very offended irish woman lies on the ground in front of you both
“so she gets the seat and i don’t? you’re obsessed, lee.”
leah ignores her as she proceeds to subtly shuffle closer to you on the sofa, seeking your touch. you chuckle at her actions and move your hand to rest on her thigh, absentmindedly stroking it with your thumb. leah instantly relaxes at the contact and a contented look rests on her face. viv attempts to shush the rest of the team to start the film but goes unheard until beth yells out for her. the both of them start the film and the entire team settles to watch.
throughout the film, leah has gravitated even closer towards you, obsessed with the feeling of having you near her. about halfway through philosopher’s stone you start to yawn, and your head feels heavy. noticing this, leah taps you lightly and gestures to her shoulder. you smile at her as you mouth a quiet thank you before resting your head on her shoulder, melting into her side. leah maintains a calm smile as you do so, but you can hear how much her heartbeat has sped up and know that she is most likely jumping for joy internally. you place a light kiss on her neck and proceed to watch the movie. leah glances at you and then manages to make eye contact with jen, who had ‘accidentally’ watched the small gesture between the both of you. she mimes cracking a whip, insinuating that you have leah wrapped around your finger, and leah rolls her eyes at her, flipping her off.
soon after, the first movie ends and everyone decides to take a small break before the second movie. beth makes a joke about it being half-time, nobody laughs. you go to reach for your drink, only to find it’s empty. a hand wraps around yours, stealing the glass from you.
“i’ll go get us refills.”
leah kisses your cheek as she de-tangles herself from you and heads towards the kitchen. viv shakes her head in amusement as she looks at you.
“she would have hit me if i even asked her to get me a drink. i don’t know what you’ve done to her y/n.”
you laugh and shrug your shoulders, joking with viv as leah re-enters with your drink, passing it to you before slotting herself back into her seat next to you with a hand on your thigh. katie watches in disbelief before she turns to her own girlfriend
“ruesha, i’m thirsty.”
ruesha looks at her
“and that’s my problem because..?”

famous last words — james potter
Tumblr media
writing masterlist | askbox
─── summary: you and james are sworn enemies. you quite like it that way.
─── pairing: james potter x quidditch player!reader.
─── warnings: fluff, banter, swearing. if you're a reader of my cedric series oh, captain! then you might find this familiar, it's a reworked version of chapter three. this was so much fun honestly i love sassy stuff like this.
─── word count: 2.1k.
Tumblr media
     BY THE TIME THE TRAIN WHISTLES ITS ARRIVAL AT HOGSMEADE STATION, all you really want to do is go to bed. The golden glow of warmth has suffused your bones completely, lulling you into a delightfully sleepy state. You're curled up against the window when your friend Beth jostles you awake and practically carries you off the train, where you are utterly unsurprised to learn that the weather is terrible.
     The downpour does a spectacular job at waking you up. Droplets of freezing rain slip past the collar of your shirt and down your spine before you manage to pull your cardigan up over your head. A disgruntled scowl tugs at your lips as you race ahead of Beth to get a space on one of the carriages. Once you are safely situated in the dry, you look out into the rain, expecting to see Beth scarpering up the platform right behind you. Instead, she's sauntering towards the carriage, a wide smirk on her face, happy and dry beneath one of the big black umbrellas Hagrid is handing out on the platform.
     You frown, folding your arms over your chest, feeling distinctly soggy. Beth climbs into the carriage, giggling as she sits down beside you. You merely stick your tongue out at her.
     "Hey," Beth says, folding the umbrella back up before raising her hands in defence, accidentally splashing you both with rainwater, "you're the one who ran away. Don't blame me for being more observant."
     "I reject that," you reply indignantly. Beth offers up a hair tie from her wrist and you take it, still scowling, to tie your damp hair into a messy ponytail. "I am absolutely observant. Just not... all the time." Which basically means where sports isn't involved. Teachers have noted in their reports that you're easily distracted in class, with a mind that tends to wander rather than focus on the task at hand. Your mother used to call it butterfly brain. Thoughts light as air, settling down on one flower for a few moments until a prettier, more interesting flower comes into view. She didn't mean to make you feel bad about that, but it doesn't help when all your teachers are saying the same thing.
     The prettier flower is usually Quidditch. With a muggle upbringing, you hadn't been exposed to the brilliance of magic until a mysterious letter appeared on your eleventh birthday (delivered, you recall, stern-faced woman in peculiar emerald robes. If you'd known then that Professor McGonagall's first impression of you would be a wide-eyed child whose front tooth had just been knocked loose by a rogue cricket bat, well, you probably would've died of embarrassment. Now she's your Head of House. And most unfortunately, that's not the only time she's seen you missing a few teeth.) When you got to Hogwarts and saw students playing Quidditch for the first time, whizzing like arrows through the air on actual broomsticks— You'd been in love with the sport ever since.
     Almost every corner of your brain is taken up by Quidditch. A hundred different game plans and plays running on repeat. So Beth is totally wrong; you are very observant., and you are never more observant than when your eye is on the prize.
     This time, though, the prize was shelter. Skittering off through the downpour to get to the carriage without properly checking your surroundings wasn't the smartest route, but it worked. Sort of.
     Your pride hurts a little bit.
     Beth's just about done laughing at you when a knock on the carriage exterior catches your attention. A familiar face appears at the door. "Is there any room in here?" James Potter's smile is crooked, and his dark hair is damp and floppy from the rain, water dripping from the strands into his face. Bright eyes dart back forth between you and Beth, and suddenly you remember that only almost every corner of your brain is occupied by Quidditch.
     There's a stubborn little spot right in the middle, little more than a speck, really — but it's filled with nothing else but James fucking Potter.
     "There was a mass exodus from the train as soon as it arrived," he continues as his glasses start to fog up, "and the only other carriage left is full of second-years."
     Oh, you feel that one in your soul. Second-years are okay, sometimes, but usually they're excitable, too ready for the start of another year at magic school, and thus only bearable in small doses. By third year, the excitement is all about getting to choose which classes you take, and you understand this to a degree (you chose Divination, which sounded cool at the time but was an absolute fucking mistake, because you might enjoy the spooky muggle stuff but predicting the deaths of all your friends is not fucking fun, no matter how good your end-of-year grade was for it ) but the novelty quickly wears off.
     You suppose that's why James has chosen to risk his life by sitting in a confined space with you, instead. The three of you are well-seasoned veterans of Hogwarts and its bullshit by this point and, as a result, are appropriate company.
     The fact that both of you are his teammates is probably a nice bonus, too.
     You, however, offer a merciless smirk. James Potter is, without doubt, your worst enemy, and it fills you up with glee to inconvenience him at any opportunity. "You snooze, you lose, Potter. Off to the second-years you go!" You even make a shooing motion, just for good measure.
     Beth smacks your arm and rolls her eyes, offering James a pleasant smile. "There's loads of room, ignore them," she says, and while you're busy dramatically rubbing your arm and muttering expletives, James takes a seat on the bench opposite you. Rain hammers against the roof, somehow louder than it was a moment ago, and a self-satisfied grin creeps onto his face as the carriage begins its journey to the castle.
     "Where are the rest of the merry morons, then?" You ask, quirking a brow at him. You're pretty sure you can count on one hand the number of times you've seen James without at least one of his comrades in mischief. Frankly, it's rarer than spotting a unicorn in the wild. You wonder if you should take a picture to commemorate the occasion.
     He looks sheepish as he pulls his glasses off to wipe away the condensation. "Lost a bet."
     He doesn't elaborate, and you don't care enough to ask him to. You've been at school with them long enough to know that, honestly, it's probably best not to know.
     Beth reaches out and plucks a stray leaf from your hair. She waves it in your face, tickling your nose gently before letting it flutter to the ground. You slip your hand into hers, linking your fingers together. Beth is soft and sweet when she wants to be, and you're certain there's not a soul in the world who knows you this well. She has wormed her way into your heart, and you'd have to carve it out of your chest to be rid of her now.
     "Does anyone know who our captain is yet?" You ask aloud, after a few seconds of silence have passed. You're tired enough to curl up on the floor of the carriage and fall asleep right then and there, lulled by its gentle rocking and pitter-patter of the rain, but you should probably be conversational. There's very little worse than awkward silence, especially with James sitting there, staring at you with that dopey half-smirk on his face.
     You want to smack him. You want him to think you're extraordinary. You're not quite sure how to cope with such emotional extremes, but there they are, coexisting at the front of your mind. They war with each other, an itch you can't scratch because if you, you'll keep going until there's blood.
     His, preferably.
     It's not even that you hate James. Not really. You used to, only a year or so ago, because he made it so easy. With his smug little smile and the skip in his step, with his quips and jokes and way his hair curls over his brow, you'd fucking despised him. He'd set himself up as your rival back in second year, when you made the Gryffindor team at the same time. With the blurred stretch of years between then and now, you can't remember quite how it began, or what he did precisely that sparked this eternal grudge, but what followed is years of goading one another, pushing and pushing and pushing to outdo one another.
     The rivalry has made you so much better than you ever could have dreamed. Quidditch is your life and honestly, without James Potter, you're not sure where you'd be with it. Still good, perhaps. But maybe not very nearly the best.
     (You'll die before you tell him that, though. Or he will. You're not that picky and he does seem to have a death wish.)
     The carriage jolts as one of the wheels dips into a pothole. The thought of skipping the feast entirely sneaking past Professor McGonagall to go straight to your dorm is a tempting prospect. You know Beth won't let you do it, because if she has to sit through Dumbledore's speech then she'll drag you down with her, but it might be worth a shot.
     The silence persists for a few more seconds, growing steadily more awkward. When no one responds to your question, you press on. "We should've heard by now, right? Team captains get picked in the summer, and we need a new one because Hilary graduated last year." Do you sound a little bit agitated by your teammates' lack of urgency? Yes. Just a touch. But the look on Beth's face is fucking suspicious, and James... Well. He looks like he'd rather die.
     You narrow your eyes. "What are you not telling me? Spit it out, the pair of you."
     James coughs once, raising a hand to cover his mouth as he does so. For once the typical arrogance is gone, washed away with the rain. He looks dreadfully uncomfortable, turning bright red as he bashfully says, "Well. Uh. I am, I suppose. The new captain, that is." He has the good sense to look frightened.
     You hope, suddenly, that his cough means he caught pneumonia or something. Nothing fatal, obviously, but just enough to put him out of commission for a little while. You don't really mean it (you're not quite as horrible as some people would like to think) because James is one of the best on the team. Sometimes, you'll begrudgingly admit that he's even the best on the team   ━   but only if you get to be second best, obviously.
     Which is why you're a little shocked, of course, but not surprised. Not surprised at all, because he is good. Even as you sit there, pondering the many ways you could kill him and make it look like an accident, you know he's good. Too fucking good.
     Which is why you say, "Tell me you're kidding."
     James furrows his brows. "I'm not kidding?"
     You can feel Beth's shoulders shaking beside you, trying desperately to smother her amused cackles. James' expression softens a little as he realises this is a joke, sort of, and he begins to grin.
     "No, really," you say, this time the hint of a smile forming on your own lips, "tell me you're kidding. I'm begrudgingly proud and all that, because it had to be one of us," you wave your free hand at him, you'll have the captaincy one day, "but also, like, tell me it's a joke."
     "Why?"
     "Because I'm genuinely considering pushing you out of this carriage."
     James shrugs his shoulders, as if to say 'yeah, that's fair.' He gets it, he really does. You love that someone gets it. "It's not a joke, I'm afraid. Better luck next time, though!" He says it in a jolly tone of voice, and oh, you hate him.
     That's the thing with the two of you. You're sworn enemies, right, but you make each other better. He tries harder because you light a fire under his arse and bloody hell, you're itching for a chance to burn him, and vice versa.
      So you smirk, now. Square your shoulders. You've baited him into a competition, and you are absolutely ready to deliver. "Famous last words, Potter. Famous last words."

How do you feel? - Sam Winchester ;)
Tumblr media
Pairings; Sam Winchester x Fem!Reader
WARNINGS: smutty smut smut, Public sex?, not proof read, p in v, oral (f receives), pet name? (Princess), hand kink?
Word count; 3k
Season 2 x Episode 6 setting
Summary ; you have been in love with Sam for awhile now, you try to avoid him but that just makes it harder.
"Your not working it, that's final!" Ellen shouted at her daughter, you standing next to Dean & Sam awkwardly waiting for them to noticed you guys had walked in.
Some random tourists walking in, "Howdy, are you guys open?" The dad asks, "No!" "Yes!" Jo and her mother both say in sink. They also stand there awkwardly for a moment before leaving.
"Now just put that away!" Ellen says, "no I want to know what they think about it," Jo says holding a folder, before Ellen's mother could do anything the phone started ringing, and Ellen scoffed going to the phone.
"Three weeks ago a young girls disappears from a Philadelphia apartment," Jo walks up to Dean shoving the folder at him.
"Take it, it won't bite," she says, "No but your mom might," Dean says not looking down to the folder, but she stays holding out the folder to him giving him a needy look for him to take it from her.
He rolls his eyes and takes the thing, opening it and up and looking through the pages.
"And this girl wasn't the first. Over the past eighty years six women have vanished. All from the same building, all young blondes. Only happens every decade or two so cops never eyeball the pattern. So we're either dealing with one very old serial killer, or-,"
"Who put this together, Ash?" You ask stepping forward to look at it, "I did," she says, Dean hums in an impressed tone, looking through the sources of information.
"I gotta admit, We hit the road for a lot less," Sam says also looking at it, You nod agreeing with him.
"Good. You like the case so much, you take it," Ellen says stepping forward, "Mom!" Jo says in an annoyed tone. "Joanna Beth, this family has lost enough. And I won't lose you too. I just won't," she says in a stern yet, concerned tone.
You left with the two boys, heading to the location of the apartment. You have been hunting with Sam and Dean ever since they ran into you when they went back to Lawrence, finding out that the demon they were hunting took your mother after your brother was born. And of course you wanted in on it.
You were always close with Sam & Dean, Although Sam is your age group, Dean and you connected more as friends, and he became one of your closest. Until he suddenly ghosted you, not wanting anyone but his dad in his life I guess. And, well the reason you and Sam split apart was because you kind to ghosted him, after finding out your feelings for him you were scared, way to scared to admit them to him for no reason, so you stopped talking to him completely, but now, that's in the past, not the feelings part, the ghosting part.
As you all walked into the apartment Sam said "I feel kind of bad, snaking Jo's case,"
"Yeah, maybe she put together a good file. But could you see her out here working one of these things? I don't think so," he says holding the EMF reading around the apartment.
"Yeah, It would be way to dangerous for her to work a case just yet," You also holding the EMF reader around the room.
"Anything?" You then ask the two boys, both of them shaking there heads and responding with a No. before Sam runs his over the light switch and it purrs.
You and Dean both turn your heads to look at him, walking over to see what was there. "What is that?" Sam asks, "What?" You and Dean question at the same time asking Sam what he's seeing, watching as he pokes at a black goo that was on the light switch.
"Holy crap!" Sam says, Dean moves you over to touch it himself, "That's ectoplasm. Well, Sam, I think I know what we're dealing with here. It's the Stay-Puff Marshmallow Man," you laugh a little at his humour, why did his stupid humour always get you?
Sam rolls his eyes, leaning back up straight, "Dean, I've only seen this stuff, like, twice. I mean, to make this stuff you have to be one majorly pissed off spirit," he says in a serious tone, almost worried.
"All right, let's find this badass before he snags any more girls," Dean say, you all exit the apartment, walking down the halls.
As you were about to turn a corner you hear voices, all three of you back up against a wall, knowing you could be seen but thinking you couldn't be.
You watch Deans expressions frown as he hears familiarity in the voice that was around the corner; and so did you. Jo?
"It's so convenient," she smiles next to what looked like a landlord, "Yeah, it's a great building, fixed it up real nice. All the apartments come furnished, too," he says advertising his building.
"It is so spacious. You know, my friend told me I absolutely have to come check it out, and I have to admit, she was right. You did a really good job with this place," she acts like the happiest person in the world.
Dean steps out from behind the small wall we were behind, "What the hell are you doing here?" He asks stepping close to the girl, but instead of a shocked reaction she smiled wider, "There you are, honey," she smiled, wrapping her arm around his waist. You and Sam exchanging weird looks.
"This is my boyfriend Dean, and his Brother Sam, and Sam's girlfriend Y/n," she smiled, you immediately feel a heat come to your cheeks, and your heart skip a beat at the words.
The landlord looks at the both of you, slightly furrowing his eyebrows. Before Sam grabbed you by the waist pulling you in closer to make you guys seem like a couple, playing it off as cool as you could you just smiled leaning into him, his scent intoxicated you, and you knew your face was bright red.
"Good to meetcha. Quite a gal you've got here," he then says to Dean, a smile on his face shaking Deans hand.
But all you could think about was Sam's hand on your waist, and how you wanted both of his hands all over you. Doing things you never thought you would do.
You watched as Dean talked to the landlord, but you really couldn't pay attention. Sam's hand kept moving up and down your waist, like he was trying to tease you or something.
You felt so vulnerable, and your emotions were so overpowering you right now. You tried to calm your breath down, you slowly brought yourself back to reality just in time, watching as Jo handing the Landlord a stack of cash saying that you guys would take it.
You felt Sam's hand leave your waist, and you already missed it. But you brushed your hand through your hair to try and get some sense into you before following the others into the apartment you were just in.
You sat on the chair as quiet as you could be, honestly to scared to talk. Your feelings for Sam have been dormant lately, mainly because you haven't touched him, or been to close with him for a month now, but that was so close, too close for your liking.
You stood up as they talked, heading to your bag to chug the bottle of water you had in there. Trying to distract yourself from the thoughts of Sam, and the things you wanted him to do to you, the places you want his hands to touch.
"This place was built in 1924. It was originally a warehouse, converted into apartments a few months ago," you heard Jo speak. You leaned on the wall looking over to all of them, not even glancing at Sam.
"Yeah? What was here before 1924," Dean asks, pacing from side to side of the room. "Nothing. Empty field," Jo says shaking her head.
"So, most likely scenario, someone died bloody in the building, and now he's back and raising hell," Sam says.
"I already checked. In the past eighty two years, zero violent deaths. Unless you count a janitor who slipped on a wet floor," she says fiddling with a knife.
"will you sit down?" No turns to Dean, he gives her a dirty look before sitting down. "So, have you checked police reports, county death records?" He asks.
"Obituaries, mortuary reports and seven other sources. I know what I'm doing," she says, offended of how stupid he thinks she is.
"I think the jury's still out on that one. Could you put the knife down?" Dean asks, she rolls her eyes but does as asked. You could feel some sort of tension between the two of them, you couldn't tell if it was sexual or not, but there was something.
"Okay! So, uh, it's something else, then. Maybe some kind of cursed object that brought a spirit with it," you then say stepping in, "Well, we've got to scan the whole building. Everywhere we can get to, right," Jo then says.
"Right. So. You and me, we'll take the top two floors. Summer and Sam on the two bottom," Dean states, for fuck sake, you think to yourself, "We'd move faster if we split up," she states, "this isn't negotiable."
You walk with Sam down to the first floor, EMF in hand scanning down the walls. Keeping your distance from the tall brunette boy, who you were constantly thinking about in these moments.
"What do you think it is?" He asks, waving his EMF around. "Honestly, have no idea," you shake your head, "Yeah, me neither," he says with a sigh.
"Hey, are you okay?" He asks a few seconds later, you turn to him with furrowed eyebrows, a confused expression on your face. "it's just, your never usually this quiet," he says, "oh," you say, that's all you said.
"Oh? Is there something wrong," he then asks stopping, you turn back to look at him. why does everything he do have to look so perfect you thought, "No," you say, god you were not being a good actress right now.
"You know I don't believe that for a second right," he says, you don't say anything to that, you just turn around and continue to scan, god get yourself together, he had his hand your waist for a minute and now all of sudden your back to your 15 year old self, obsessed and in love with the guy.
"You getting anything?" You then ask after a few seconds of silence, "Nope," he said with a sigh, "Should we go find Dean?" You asks, "Not before you tell me what's up," he said, you just look at him blankly with that comment.
"Seriously y/n," he says in such a soft, and sweet voice. You felt your heart begin to race as fast as it possibly could as he stepped closer, he was looking at you like you were going to break or something, and you couldn't handle it.
You weren't thinking, actually all you were doing was thinking, about Sam and his lips, his hands. You didn't even realise until it was to late that you were kissing him, you quickly pulled away shocked at yourself, anxiety washing over you immediately.
"Fuck," was what you said standing there like a complete idiot, "Wha-" he seemed so shocked, and speechless. You were waiting for a sympathetic rejection, but instead you got "why'd you do that?" And not in a grossed out tone, seemed like he was genuinely asking.
"I- I uhm," you said just staring at him, not knowing what to say. "Y/n?" He questioned, he seemed concerned, your feelings for him got stronger by the second, and suddenly you really couldn't hold them in any longer.
"God Sam, I've loved you since we were fifteen," you sighed, like the biggest boulder just rolled off your shoulder.
"And I can't get you out of my mind, especially when your so close, or when you touch me, god Sam, it's so annoying and," you sigh, "embarrassing," you then say realising what you had just admitted, knowing things would never ever go back to how they were.
"Embarrassing? How is it embarrassing?” He asks stepping towards you, you look up to him. He looked happy, “I- because you don’t feel the same,” you state.
“How do you know how I feel when you’ve never even asked?” He asks you, you think about it for a second and he was right.
“How do you feel then?” You asked, a little bit nervous to ask but proceeding with it anyway. He stepped closer so he was looking right down on you, “I’ll show you,” he says, his hand cupping your cheek, god his hands were so big, his lips fell onto yours, and you immediately kissed back with out a second thought.
You felt yourself being pushed up against the wall, one of Sam’s hand running under your thigh and lifting it up. Your cores rubbing against each other, made your head spin.
“Sam,” you pant out, as your eye caught the sight of a small room, he looked behind to see it as well, before turning and smiling at you, picking you up and carrying you into the room, it was a small storage closet, but neither of you cared one bit.
Sam slammed you up against the door to close it, kissing your lips with everything he had. His hands roamed around your body, touching you in all the places you need at the time, like he could read your mind.
You felt his fingers dig under your shirt, slowly lifting it up and over your head, then reaching around your back to unclasp your bra, which he did do after a few times, but the heat of the moment was just so aggressive.
His hands and lips were all you could think about, your own hands were running through his hair, as you legs were wrapped around his waist, his weight leaning on you enough to keep you up against the door.
“Sammy,” you called out in a hushed tone, “hmm?” He hummed as his lips kissed across your neck, leaving spots and marks wherever he could.
“I need you,” you managed to get out in a stutter, “hmm,” he hummed, “where?” He then added to that, “You know damn well where Sammy,” you then snapped, “hmm I’m gonna need words princess,” he said, princess? Oh god, you might as well just die.
“Down there Sammy, please, do anything,” you begged him, he smiled moving slightly back so your legs would fall from his waist, planting yourself back on the ground.
You watched as he fell to his knees, his hands running over your jeans, unbuttoning them, unzipping them, and then pushing them down your legs, your panties following along with them.
He didn’t waste another second before his lips connected with your core, you flung your head back, hitting it against the door, “oh fuck,” you said gripping his hair as he made out with your core, licking and sucking in all the right places.
His hands moved over your hips, your waist. “Fuck oh god,” you whined, feeling so much pleasure wash over you.
One of his hands slowly came down to touch your clit, circling it a few times before he ran it through your slit, sending a shiver through your entire body, your moans filled the small space up completely.
Seconds later his finger entered you, pushing in and out at a slowly pace. Before adding a second and speeding up, his mouth connected with your clit once again and you couldn’t have felt more pleasure in that moment.
“Yes, Yes,” you said as he hit your g-spot, “there?” He asked, hitting it again you moaned out a “fuck,”.
He sped up his face and you felt your climax build, and build. “I’m gonna cum,” you stated in a breath, and with that Sam pulled out his finger, and stood up.
You whimpered at his actions, “come here,” he said lifting you up, you didn’t even realise he had removed his pants, until his tip ran over your clit.
“Can I?” He asked teasing your entrance, “please Sammy,” you whined, and then felt him enter you.
You thought he had gotten all the way in at one point, but then he just had more to add. He was way bigger than you expected, and way thicker, for a moment you didn’t think you could handle it.
“You okay,” he asked, you sucked in a breath and nodded. You connected your lips back with his to distract yourself for a moment, “Ready?” He asked, waiting for a yes.
“Mhm,” you hummed a yes, feeling him start to move now. God, the mix of pain and pleasure filled you, mainly pleasure. And then it soon turned into only pleasure.
As his pace quickened your moans got louder, “Fuck Sam!” You screamed, and then felt his hand slap over your mouth, “shhh,” he said kissing up your neck.
“Sam,” you hummed out underneath his hand, as you did he removed his hand from your mouth, and faced you. “I’m gonna-,” you panted, and he nodded “me too,” he said getting ready to pull out.
“Don’t pull out,” you stuttered out as you felt him slam into you, “No?” He asked, “No, cum in me Sam, please,” you whined, and he really couldn’t refuse you, his hands gripped your waist even tighter.
Slamming into you even harder, and with one last thrust you felt yourself collapse. “Oh god,” you breathed out as you came on him, your head resting on his shoulder.
“Your so beautiful y/n,” you heard him say, you smiled at his words, slowly placing yourself back on the ground, it took you a second to snap back to reality.
You put your clothes back on, and so did Sam. But you didn’t leave just yet, “Sam,” you said as you placed your shirt back over you, he looked to you, “This wasn’t a hook up, was it?” You questioned, “No, this isn’t over,” he said walking up to you, kissing you passionately.

How You Met
~ Leah Williamson ~
~~~~~~~~~~
if being called up to play in England’s 2022 Euros wasn’t rewarding enough
it was also what led you to meet Leah
outside of a rival environment at least
despite playing in the WSL from 16-yrs-old and junior England squads from even younger, the nerves for your first senior call-up were real
having your older sister, Millie, and her vast experience, accompanying you should have been comforting
but the moment she teased you over your stuttered introduction to the skipper you were questioning whether that was true
you’d known each other less than a day before Leah was helping you through a panic attack
and another 48 hours later and you were pulling her out of her own stress spiral
a moment that happened to lead to a movie playing on her laptop and her head on your chest as she napped
but you accepted that a crush on the England captain was probably not a recommended thing to act on
unfortunately Rachel and Millie (aka your honorary pains in the ass) wouldn’t let it go quite so swiftly
with their encouragement, you found yourself in for some harsh rejection
Leah didn’t feel mid-competition was the right time to begin a relationship
particularly not with a fellow teammate
despite it being expected, it hurt
as quiet as you tried to keep it the news spread
your camp mums (Lucy, Mary & Jill) finding out particularly fast
the mother hen in them all jumped out, leading Leah to receiving a stern talking to
and maybe some threats
hearing the message loud and clear Leah spent days asking to speak to you
not intending to hurt you, she had just done what she thought was best for both of you
after some incredible, slightly mortifying, begging you finally let her explain
in doing so you realised just how much you’d missed her
enjoying falling into the routine of laughing with and teasing the older blonde
but when Leah let it slip she did feel the same, you have to make a bet
“Oh, so you do like me back, Miss Williamson? Hmmm. That’s not what you said before”
*splutters in response at the cockiness*
“Well in that case how about we make a deal? If we win the Euros you have to take me out. And then we can reconsider this whole girlfriend thing?”
Leah had never found herself so speechless
she was usually the one making bold claims not the other way around
she liked it
she had to agree
and low and behold you won the euros
unfortunately the mass introduction of media to both of you following the Euro’s was not healthy for your relationship
nor was the league rivalry of Arsenal vs. Chelsea when you were both as passionate for your teams as you were
you didn’t even make it to Christmas
but of course that wasn’t the end of your story
as passionate as you were about football you were about each other too
it came down to figuring out a balance
the realisation came first to Leah when she got injured and the one thing she longed for more than anything was to have you at her side
two weeks later you were playing your dream match-up
a Champions League semi-final, away at Camp Nou
what wasn’t a part of the dream was the part where your sister limped off the pitch, an injury in her knee
and even less dreamlike was the moment where you got barged roughly, mid-save
the shove causing you to land uncomfortably on your shoulder, excruciating pain immediately shooting through your body
after being rushed to the hospital, you’re told later that evening you had severely torn your rotator cuff
worse than that, you were out of the Champions League
you were out of the game for at least six months according to the doctors
joining the ranks of the England injury gang you spent even more time with Millie
who had happened to be spending a lot more time with Beth Mead
who was of course spending time recovering with Leah
Millie knowing she was likely to be back in time for the World Cup forced you into outings with the Arsenal players
she thought it’d help you process your injury and loss
it only made you hurt more, seeing how distraught Leah was
and not being able to help
you had more time for these big competitions
even the last one still felt like a fluke to you!
slowly though you returned to the roots of your friendship with Leah
supporting each other when you needed it most
taking it slow this time you worked to build a healthier relationship
you developed good communication and set plans in place for when you were stressed
or competing against each other
~~~~~~~~~~
If any of you have ever read my Wattled story Amorousness about Leah, this is essentially an amalgamation of all the ideas I had for that. So spoiler alert ig?? But also I don't know if I'll ever finish the full fic so I'm glad it'll exist somewhere!
