“Got something for you, Eight.”
Four’s eyes are blue and twinkling when they meet yours in the mirror, and you quickly move your gaze back to your monitor before it starts to burn, fingers flying over the keyboard as he stretches an arm around you to drop something onto the desk.
“What is it?” you ask as he makes himself at home in one of the spare chairs, collapsing into it with a sigh.
Four gestures at the paper bag. “Take a guess.”
You inhale, faltering just the slightest when you catch a whiff of something greasy and warm and very, very good.
“French fries,” you say.
“Yep –”
“Arby’s. The curly ones.”
“What the fuck.” Four leans back in his chair, and you cannot stop the warmth that trickles to your cheeks at the awe in his tone. “How’d you know?”
“I can tell by the smell.”
“Holy shit, really?”
“No.” You finally detach your hands from the keyboard and grab the paper bag. “Wild guess.”
“Oh.”
Pulling the fries out, you stuff some into your mouth and hold the carton out towards Four. He takes two and puts them on a napkin, emptying a ketchup packet on the other half for dipping. “How come you sound disappointed?” you ask.
He shrugs. “Thought you had some, like, superhuman ability. With the shit we’ve done, I would totally believe it.”
“If anyone has a superpower, it’s you, Skywalker. Jumping across buildings and over roofs and shit without smashing onto the ground.”
Four grins. “S’pose so, yeah.”
“So humble.”
“I’m good at what I do!” he exclaims. “I can compliment you too. You’re literally the smartest person I know.”
“Smarter than Five?”
“… You’re the second smartest person I know. But you’re definitely the nicest.”
“The nicest?” you repeat, incredulous. That was not something you ever heard in your past life.
“Well,” to your surprise, a flush crawls across his face, “granted, the bar isn’t very high, but it’s there. Besides Six, you’re the only one out of this lot who’s gone skating with me, and believe me, I’ve asked everyone.”
The thought of saying that you had nothing better to do crosses your mind, but then you remember that he thinks you’re nice, so you don’t. It wouldn’t have been true, anyway, and you are a horrible liar.
“You’re fun to hang out with,” you tell him.
That admission is true. Four is brash, a little nuts, sometimes too mouthy for his own good – and you like that he is. You remember when he had first convinced you to crawl out of your hole and go outside with him, when he’d wheedled you onto his skateboard, hands on your waist and shrieks of laughter in his throat as you wobbled around like an idiot.
You thought being dead meant being detached. Four seems determined to prove otherwise.
The corners of his eyes crinkle, and he scoots closer to your chair.
“What’re you working on?” he queries, elbows on his knees as he squints at the lines of code in front of you.
Tucking another curly fry into your cheek, you shrug. “Making a game.”
“Like Call of Duty? Would stay up all night with my mates playing that as a kid.”
“No, just a simple two-player one. 8-bit-ish.”
“What’s it about?”
You shift uncomfortably.
“What is this, twenty questions?”
“I’m just asking. Why, is it something pervy? I’d still be down to play.” Four throws a crooked smirk your way, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively.
A snort escapes you despite yourself. “What? No. It’s, um … a platform-type game. Like Mario.”
“Okay. Very specific.”
Clearing your throat, you mumble an elaboration. But that is almost worse, because then Four leans in close to hear what you’re saying, and he smells like the outdoors and his face is close and you’re worried, no, you’re terrified that you’ll glance down at his lips and say something about them that you’ll one hundred percent regret.
So you lean back slightly. Something flickers in his eyes when you do so, but he does not follow.
“Didn’t get that, Eights.”
“Parkour,” you mutter, the word fluttering out like a little drunk moth. “It’s a parkour game.”
Four blinks. Then, a broad, delighted smile spreads across his face.
“No shit?”
“I haven’t figured everything out yet,” you say almost defensively, though you don’t know what you’re defending against. “It’s nothing like the real thing, so don’t get your hopes up. It’s just a dumb project.”
“It’s wicked,” he says. “Can you make a character that looks like me?”
“Sure.”
(You do not tell him that you’ve already planned to.)
“And make a character that looks like you,” Four continues seriously, tapping the desk. “So I can kick your ass at parkour in a videogame, too. Oh, and everyone else, so I can also kick their asses.”
“You’ll be in my domain, Four. I’ll be finished before you even make the first jump.”
He chuckles, disbelieving, and bumps the side of your foot with his shoe. “Your domain, eh? I think you’ll find I’m very adaptable.”
“I know.” The words come out quieter than you intend. Adoring. Shit.
While you resist the urge to fidget and scuff a hole into the floor of your trailer, Four’s smile softens, eyes flicking back to the screen. He reaches for another couple of fries.
“Wanna go out tomorrow morning?”
“Huh?”
“Outside, I mean. I’m gonna find someplace to practice. You can come and watch and take notes for your game,” he says casually while he chews, licking the salt off his thumb once he’s done.
“Oh.” You try not to stare. “Yeah, I can go with you.”
“You could give it another go too, if you’d like.”
“Why, so you can kick my ass at parkour in real life again? I’ll just watch.”
“Suit yourself.” With that, Four stands up from his chair and looks down at you for a few seconds, then gestures with his chin at the fries. “Remember to finish those.”
“Okay, Mom.”
He rolls his eyes good-naturedly and leaves without a goodbye. (There’s no need for it, not around here, because goodbyes are for the living, aren’t they?)
Once you’re sure he’s gone, you let out a breath and slap your cheeks several times, glancing at the carton next to your mouse. There are four left.
You laugh underneath your breath and reach for one.

Everything I Wanted
Tumblr media
A/N: I wrote this for my girl Lani, @borninslumber, while she is recovering from her wisdom teeth removal! *Gif not mine, I have a bad habit of saving gifs and not remembering where they came from, sorry!*
Pairing: Pre-Ghost Billy x Female Reader
Warnings: None, just youre gonna be soft for our boy Billy.
Word Count: 1900 (she a short bby)
Y/n had been a part of this small crew for months now and she was very good at what she did. It was just the four of them, and they moved as one being. The way they all clicked together was flawless and he couldn't have asked for a better team. Tali, Billy, Greg and Y/n. It was the family that he had always wanted.
So why wasn’t he happy?
They made all the money that they could ever need, siblings Tali and Greg, being the planners, had made sure of that. Billy and Y/n were the hands of the operation. The way that the two of them communicated without words on missions was envied by Tali, who harbored an obvious crush on the blond thief. Y/n and Tali had butted heads since the beginning when Billy suggested they take the girl under their wings, and Billy had won out in the end.
The blond had clicked instantly with the new girl, when they were both after the same bounty. Billy had flirted with the girl in his usual manner to try and throw her off, but she came back unphased, with her own flirty banter making the boy more flustered than he liked to admit. Though Billy had the necklace safely in his pocket only seconds before, when the girl brushed her entire body against his, he froze for only a moment. It had been just enough time for the small pickpocket to pull the necklace from his pocket and with a small kiss to his cheek, she took off running, shooting him a wink in the process.
With Tali screaming in his ear about the time, he sighed and leaned against the wall before patting his pocket where the necklace should have been, only it wasn't there and Billy couldn't help the small that broke out on his face. “Sorry Tal, I've been bested.” Was all he could offer as he looked down the corridor where the girl had taken off.
He needed to find her again.
-
Fast forward just a few weeks and Billy was anxious to see the girl again, affected more than he had ever been by a woman. He had begged Greg to find something for them to go after in the hopes that she would be there too. Billy left small calling cards at every heist, hoping that she would find it and understand. Just a small card with a diamond, the words park - big tree written on it. Tali had found the cards once, and screamed at Billy for being so stupid as to give anything away, but Billy knew that he had to find her.
After every heist, Billy would go to the biggest park, and watched the biggest tree from a distance, waiting for her. It took weeks, but as he waited from the roof of a nearby building, he saw her. Billy wasted no time in jumping gracefully from the roof, spooking the girl.
“What the actual fuck, man.” Even her angry voice sounded like honey to his ears.
“I didn't mean to scare you.” He breathed out, taking a step towards her. “I’ve been waiting for you for weeks.”
“You’ve waited up there for weeks, huh?” She gave him a coy smile.
Billy just smiled in response and pulled the girl close. “I would have waited years for you.”
-
That was almost two months ago and Billy was enthralled with the girl, but it seemed like her previous flirting was only for distraction purposes, as she couldn’t have been bothered to look at him the way she had that night, but Billy was happy to just have her by his side. Y/n had fit into their team like she had been there since the beginning, and he couldn't have asked for anything more.
Billy found himself getting jealous of the time that Greg and Y/n would spend together, trying to get back at her by spending time with Tali, but it didn't seem to affect Y/n in the way he wanted it to, honestly she seemed happy for him. He hated it. Tali loved it though, doting on Billy like she never had before and Billy continued to brush her off, but nothing phased her.
There was one mission where Tali, Billy and Y/n were all three deployed into the field with Greg behind running surveillance, that the tables turned. Billy doesn't know what had come over him but he needed her, seeing her in action just made his attraction grow. They had the emeralds they were after, the three of them splitting them up between themselves.
The guards were much quicker than they should have been, apparently being on higher alert than normal, because as soon as Tali was out of the room and into the small crawl space that was acting as their exit, the guards burst into the room. Acting quickly, Billy pulled off her beanie, letting her hair flow down, pushing his fingers deep into her hair and kissing her deeply. He would later tell her that I was only so the guards would think they were just two lovers looking for a spot to hide, but only Billy would know how true that lie really was.
Y/n was stunned for only a second before she caught on, seeing the guards rounding the corner, she understood. When she softened her posture, she let Billy hoist her legs up around his waist and deepen the kiss. Only Billy would know at that moment how much he wanted her, because as soon as the guards cleared their throats and the two of them broke apart, playing the part of teens who had gotten busted, Billy couldn't stop looking at her.
“That was a good call, Billy. I don't think they suspected a thing.” Y/n had winked at him as they walked right out the front doors, bounty filling their pockets.
“Right.” He breathed out, chest heaving, not from getting caught but from the fire that was alight in his belly. He needed more. He needed her.
-
It was weeks before he got his chance, Greg and Tali out on a recon mission, and he wasted no time.
“Y/n.” He whispered, standing right behind her, he expected her to jump but when instead she leaned back into his chest, the butterflies in his stomach caught fire and his hands found her waist.
“Billy.” She breathed out softly, crossing her arms over her stomach, hands resting on top of his.
“Is this a dream?” He spoke into her neck as she turned her head away from him, letting him nose his way up her neck, she laughed in response, turning her body in his arms so they were chest to chest.
“Not a dream.” She mumbled, her own face burying itself in his neck, soft kisses trailing up his throat.
“Shit.” He hummed as her kisses came up over his chin, hating the whine that left his throat when she skipped over his waiting lips and kissed up the side of his face instead. “Y/n…” She pulled back and looked into his dark eyes and she gave a small chuckle before cupping his face in her hands, bringing her lips to his gently, eyes never leaving his.
-
Billy thought had thought that day had changed everything, and in a way it had. The two of them couldn’t seem to keep their eyes or hands off of eachother, much to Tali’s displeasure. More than once, Tali had walked in on the two of them, whether it being an innocent cuddling session or with Y/n being in a rather compromising position, on her knees in front of Billy, his head thrown back against the wall in pleasure.
Billy would have been a fool to not have noticed the smirks that Y/n would give Tali in these moments, almost as if she was saying that she had won, but Billy was too caught up in his feelings for the thief to think anything of it. Had he been using his brain, he would have noticed the signs. He could have heard Tali’s warnings of the girl being no good for him. But he missed all of the signs as he reveled in the pleasure that the woman of his dreams was giving him.
This was exactly what he wanted and there was nothing that could ruin it.
They had planned for this mission for weeks, Greg had the perfect heist in mind. It was a beautiful necklace called the Kalahari. Tali had stayed behind to run interference on the ground while the three of them, plus their connection, had gone up to the room to search for the necklace. They tore the room apart looking for it, finding only cheap or fake gems instead of the object they were searching for.
“Fuck!” Billy shouted in the bedroom, when their connection had shouted something in ukranian that none of them understood, except for the word police, that seemed to translate in every language. “We ain’t leavin’ til we find the Kalahari!” Billy pointed at the man, Y/n shooting him a smile which he returned.
“We will find it babe, chill.” Y/n grabbed his neck and pulled him into a deep kiss, pocketing the jewels that he had discarded being too cheap for the heist. Billy gave her a wink and went back to pulling out drawers from the large stand in front of him, grabbing a cheaper necklace and putting it between his teeth.
One seemed awfully heavy for a drawer that was empty, and when he flipped it over, he understood. False bottom. Sliding it open, he let the jewels fall from his lips as a small laugh bubbled out. “I've got it!” He shouted at them, giving Y/n’s bottom a soft smack. “Let's go!” He yelled, just as the hotel room door burst open and their Ukranian connection went down with a single shot from the cops gun.
Greg, Y/n and Billy all ran out onto the balcony, easily pulling themselves up onto the rooftops and off they went, jumping building to building, easily putting distance between the cops and themselves. Everything was going perfectly, Billy had the necklace still latched between his teeth as they ran, Greg jumping onto the sign they had deemed perfect to cross over the large gap.
Billy chanced a look back at Y/n and that's when he slipped.
He never slipped.
He swung wildly from the line, Greg shouting from above him. Y/n jumped down and reached her hand out towards him.
“Grab my hand!” Billy gritted out through his clenched teeth as he swung closer to her, but instead of grabbing his hand, she went straight for the necklace. “My hand!” The line he was holding onto snapped and he his hand tried to find anything to grab onto. It seemed to him that Y/n just couldn't reach his hands because all she did was keep a hold of the necklace that he held between his teeth. “Y/n…” He whispered as best as he could, locking eyes with her, seeing no fear in them. His grip on the necklace faltered enough that soon he was falling backwards, watching Y/n stand up, watching him fall with a triumphant smile on her face.
Billy watched her in slow motion as he fell. He watched her look up at Greg with a smirk, Greg’s face  painted with a look of horror as he watched her let him drop. She never even looked down at him falling, looking at the necklace with a cold smile on her face as she jumped up, level with Greg. “I'm rich!”
She was still holding the necklace. She was only worried about the necklace.
Y/n had been his dream but his dream turned out to be nothing but a nightmare.

“Took you long enough”
“Well sorry we were being chased throughout italy possibly in the brightest car possible thanks to six” one told her not liking her attitude as he tried to look over to see if anyone was coming
zero quickly got into the car managing to fit into the back squished next to two other women as five was trying conduct surgery on two
“it would’ve gone better if one didn’t act like a fucking dick to the lawyer”
“well he wasn’t cooperating so we had to go to plan b”
“I thought me hacking into the servers was plan b?”
“well that was plan c if plan b didn’t work”
“for fucks sake”
The girl had rolled her eyes already knowing that everything has gone to shit and that something or someone will most likely be hurt in the end, except for two where it wasn’t her fault.
Zero that was her number. She was the first to be recruited after almost being arrested for hacking into the servers to expose some of the wealthiest people of all time for what they have done that the country was keeping quiet about. She was given the option to do something better for the world and she took it. The only downside was she would have to leave her life behind. That meant faking her death and leaving her twin brother, her parents, and her friends behind. She didn’t like the idea at first but she weighed out all her options and realized that she would do more good in the world if people didn’t know who she was anymore. They ruled her death out as suicide and the hardest part of it all was having to watch her family and friends bury an empty coffin six feet under the ground.
Now she was in Italy, a mission she thought would probably go great and all until it all went to shit. she had been sitting near the lawyers office waiting for her signal to hack into the lawyers but one had different plans afterwards when told no
“Please tell me she’s stopped bleeding? I’d like to keep this car clean and pristine, and hopefully keep it” six asked looking into his rearview mirror
“That’s impossible five is trying her hardest to get the bullet out but it isn’t working. Have you seen how surgeries go? I’m sure there’s going to be blood everywhere. Also you’re not keeping the car, you’re going to need to get rid of it”
“we’re going to need a hospital” five said
“it’s getting a little intense in here don’t you think?” one asked everyone causing the women to glare at him
“Where did the other guys come from?” two asked loading her gun
“i told you down from the room you and one were in. they haven’t updated their shit in a long time they must’ve added new rooms”
“i was talking to one”
“i was covering the door. You were shot from a window”
Zero couldn’t focus on whatever else was happening and decided to look for the other members of her team before putting herself back into the conversation
“It’s true. That lawyer has had guards since he graduated and began working. I fucking told you guys this already.” “Well some people don’t listen” two grits through her teeth
“All that matters is that we got this phone, zero here. Do your little penelope garcia hacker thing”
Zero took the phone from him and began doing her thing. When she plugged his phone into her laptop, she began typing away to try and unlock it. It was too encrypted for her though she had managed to get past the first part of the security system that was keeping her locked out. What she didn’t know was that she also need an eye verification and pictures wouldn’t do it justice unless she had a program that can easily make a 3d model of it
“Please tell me one of you have a device that can make a 3D eye because i truly need it to get past the second part of this wack ass security system” zero had asked not tearing her eyes away from her laptop
“No but we do have something better” two told her trying to ignore the pain she was going through
“Hey six, you wanna you know, drive faster? Because i think they got us” one asked him sarcastically as more guards pulled up next to them
“Yeah hold on to something” six told them pressing on the gas causing them to almost collide with the busy traffic ahead of  almost crashing and causing multiple crashes and explosions
“i feel like i’m going to throw up” zero said holding her head and trying to convince herself she’s fine
“Me too.”
“What the fuck did you guys do in there anyways? Why are you covered in blood?”
“The head, neck, and face are very vascular so it’s a lot of blood.” “We know basic anatomy one”
“Are you telling me you killed a mafia guy? In italy?” zero asked him leaning over the seat ready to kill him
“I didn’t. Two did. Anyways you should know what his client did”
“I do, I'm the one who told you his shit.”
“Everyone just shut up for one second there’s a BMW chasing us” five yelled
“Is now a bad time to tell you that we have a helicopter on our tail but don’t worry i’m trying to intercept their signal with some Italian children’s tv”
Six continued to drive, while one kept looking out the window praying to god that the mission doesn’t end entirely more fucked up than it already is. Two was under intense amount of pain as five kept digging into her to find the bullet that was inside her
“Can i just take a moment to thank you? There is nothing else I’d rather being doing with my life”
“I don’t care”
“Hey be nice. If it weren’t for you we wouldn’t be in this shit show right now” five said not looking up
Six made a turn that caused him to think fast and steer the wheel and almost hit a truck that drove against them before it hit one of the BMW that was chasing them. They continued their course on trying to get away before six had almost hit a group of nuns who didn’t so easily forgive him and then hitting a pedestrian on accident claiming he had the right of way. Five was getting annoyed with him while she tried to fix two and zero closed her eyes to prevent herself from throwing up. She was good at reading and driving but in this case, a high speed car chase, it wasn’t agreeing with her and felt like everything she had since being in italy was going to come up from her
“Nice call on the Day-Glo green. It blends right into the Italian architecture”
“Is it too flashy? You don’t like the color?”
“SIX WATCH THE FUCK OUT”
“BABY, BABY BABY!”
“PUPPIES” everyone yelled out at once as six swerved around almost hitting a few dogs, a woman and her baby, and other civilians as they all ran away. They continued the chase until this time someone on a motorcycle started to chase them
“Oh no he’s got a gun”
“Move, zero duck” two told the two women with her and she started to shoot
“She okay?” one asked about two current state
“She’s lost a shit ton of blood”
“This isn’t a shit ton”
“I am the judge of what’s shit ton. You see? Blood. Red.” five told her showing the bloody rags from trying to stop the bleeding
“I can hear it pumping out, please staunch it or whatever you call it” one asked as soon as blood squirted onto five’s face and two yelling in pain. As it happened everyone groaned in disgust as zero tried to move her stuff away to prevent anything from getting messed up. She had managed to dig up more information about the generals and what they were planning to do. Zero continued to listen to her team's bickering as six tried to avoid hitting people on Vespa's.
“I’m starting to feel it” six said swerving and making a turn
“I’m feeling fucking carsick. Now i know how zero feels”
Zero smiled to herself as she got up a map of the city to hide themselves in for a bit so she can continue in peace using the eye two had cut out
“One for four?”
“Yeah, go for four”
“We need you”
“‘course you need me. I’m here”
“Remind me where the fuck is “here”?” six asked looking around
““Here” here. Like here?”
“Specificity please?” one said annoyed
Zero had looked out the window and found where he was talking about
“Here. right fucking here!” he yelled out to the sky
“He’s at the top of the Duomo”
“Top of the Duomo, like we talked about. Look up” four and zero had said at the same time. This caused everyone to look at her with a questioning look
“What he said it in the meeting after one said for him to do his thing and plus i saw someone on top of it and he’s the only person insane enough to do that shit”
“Exactly sweetheart” he said smirking as she turned red as one looked through the rearview mirror
Six continued to drive seeing as they were being chased leaving four behind and having to detour. Zero never understood four and how he wasn’t scared doing stuff like that. She never really got to have a proper conversation with him before too.
“So some good news and bad news. I’ve managed to change the channels so instead of watching us being chased and shit, but the helicopters are still onto us”
“Well this will be a day for the history books”
“Hey guys. ‘M coming north. Down on Via de..Via de... There’s so many fucking vias in Italy”
“Should’ve brushed up on your Italian architecture before deciding to climb it” zero told him
“Well maybe you could give me a layout of Italy and i’ll show what i know”
“Uh guys i know you’re horny and all but now’s not exactly the time” one told them as four and zero turned red not meaning for it to sound that dirty
The group had managed to go the wrong way and miss four again leaving him behind causing them to think of another plan quick
“Round the corner. That’s it, keep coming, keep coming.” he said before cutting the rope and letting the poles let loose
“One i’m going to need that fucking eye now if you want this shit!” zero had yelled
One grabbed the eye out of his pocket and put it in view so everyone could see it. Six groaned in disgust
“Who knew the optic nerve was so long? Surprised his asshole didn’t come with it. This isn’t going to work. Pull over” he said as six hit something causing it to leave one’s fingers before giving it to zero
“He’s right there’s an empty alley up on this next turn” zero yelled
As soon as the eye left one’s fingers it landed under six’s feet causing him to yell
“Don’t you fucking squish it!”
“Fucking grab it!”
“You squish it, the mission’s over!” zero yelled. It wasn’t entirely true seeing how she could somehow manipulate it but she needed the real thing. Four overheard everything and all the yelling and commented on how everything was stressful
“can you guys just stop arguing, we need to get this shit done”
“tell that to six and his driving that caused the eye to fall”
Six pulled over to the alley and one handed the eye over to zero waiting for her to download everything from the phone into the computer.
“Who’s eye is that?”
“It’s the lawyers”
“Did you scoop it out or-”
“God, no! I didn’t scoop it out, two did” one told him as two hit her head against the door in pain
“Almost there. Don’t worry.”
“All of rovach’s transmissions are going to lead us straight to the four generals in less than 30 seconds now.”
“I’m getting lightheaded”
“You’re not the one holding it” zero had said glaring at him
“guys? cops are looking right at us” five warned looking back
“Don’t you dare move your foot off that brake or i swear to god”
As the information finished downloading and zero had thrown the eye back to one and yelled at six to go while trying to read about the four generals and where they could find them
“Zero, please tell me you can lose that police chopper?” four asked
“On it. While we’re at it, one? Now’s a good time to get three”
At this point four had started to leave again to find three, who was sitting in a truck trying to learn Italian waiting for his cue. six and zero worked together to try to lose the chopper. They both had a plan in mind but they knew one wasn’t going to like it. As six continued to drive, they began shooting at the team again causing one to yell at two to shoot. Two was already frustrated seeing that she was getting operated on and trying to shoot back wasn’t comfortable especially if she had to turn around. How they were all still alive was beyond zero’s thoughts right now.
“I’ve got a plan but i don’t think you’re going to like it.” zero said ducking avoiding bullets that were going through the car at the moment
“anything’s better than this right now” one told her back
“Well it involves the Uffizi”
“Fuck, no”
‘Yeah, the museum next to where we got those mochaccinos” six interrupted knowing what zero thought of
“I remember the mochaccinos! i’m saying fuck, no!” one yelled back at the both of them
They ignored what one had told them and went into the direction of the Uffizi as six turned the radio on to calm down. One didn’t appreciate it though and ripped the radio and threw it out. At this point everyone’s blood pressure had risen and they were all bound to do meditation soon if they didn’t calm down. as they entered the Uffizi entrance they knew that their faces were going to be on the news everywhere if they didn’t work fast so zero could erase everything.
“You said whatever i needed to do, right? so, i’m just gonna do it.” six said backing up before putting it back in drive
“i can’t believe i died for this shit”
“i’m not exactly that religious so if anyone needs me i’m going to be praying” zero said trying keep her vomit down
Six had driven into the museum, trying to avoid all the statues and art while having way too much fun. He managed to destroy a few statues and  Zero was holding onto the door praying that she will get to have an Italian getaway or just any getaway that didn’t involve them ruining anything. when she opened her eyes, she found them in front of the statue of David. they drove off as soon as three called them to tell them about two black suburban's coming their way and four telling them he’s going to them on his skateboard before hitting them with a grenade and six commenting that they’ve got a superhero on the squad.
Entering what looked like under a bridge, zero knew this would end here as two yelled at one about not having anymore bullets in French
“i don’t speak that” one said scared
“shit’s about to get crazy” six commented
“NOW?!? I’m conducting surgery!” five yelled
“i’m trying to lose a thousand cars”
“She’s going to die, you know?”
“you can live for days with a gunshot wound in the stomach. She’ll be fine
Five had started to yell at one in Spanish as soon as he said that asking if he was suddenly the doctor
“I don’t speak that either”
“Two ran out of bullets and five was asking are you suddenly a doctor”
“Yeah thanks for the input Duolingo. Up top!” one yelled at zero and six as he hit another guy with the car
Five went back to being quiet as zero looked over to see that she had gotten the bullet out of two. “Oh that feels so much better”
six continued to drive as one praised his driving before they were getting shot at in the front making it impossible to see. they had pushed the windshield out of the way before six stepped on the brake causing them to swerve and get hit. when they had opened their eyes and tried to calm their breaths, they saw that six had been impaled by a rod. zero felt sick to her stomach and climbed out of the car before the rest got out. Three and four had stopped as well before they saw zero on the ground crying and shaking before seeing what happened.
“where’s-” four asked before seeing six’s state and going back to help five and two
one picked zero up and tried to carry her body to where the others were. he knew how much six meant to her and made sure he was somewhere he would feel at peace no matter how he was.
“c’mon, do this for him. he wouldn’t want to see you like this” one whispered to her making sure no one heard him

(6 Underground fic. idk what to call it. shameless oc insert.) *Police brutality mention*
Films: 6 Underground 2019
Word Count: 1,752
Pairing: billy!four/oc
Description: You were Arianna's first friend in New York City which is why One helped you fake your death when you get into trouble. It's never stated in the story but that's why.
Without anywhere to go, he gives you a home at the base while he assembles his team. Eventually you meet Four and he makes "dying" worth while.
When One cut all ties to his old life it was because he had a mission. A purpose to fulfill. Same goes for the rest of the team. Each member was handpicked.
Except for you.
You were never part of the plan so you didn't get a number.
Obviously this made introductions a little complicated when One introduced you to Two.
The CIA spook, already dubious about One and his motivations, raised one eyebrow and sized you up quickly.
You smiled awkwardly, sensing that a formal handshake was out of the question. "Just call me Zero," you joked halfheartedly, trying not to fidget under Two's critical gaze.
Just as you broke out in a nervous sweat, Two finally looked away and motioned for One to follow her out of the trailer. It didn't take a genius to figure out what she wanted to discuss privately.
Did One seriously believe it was a good idea to involve a civilian on what was most likely going to turn out to be a suicide mission?
What did a nobody like you really bring to the table, skill-wise?
You didn't have a good answer to either of those questions and honestly neither did One.
Anyway, faking your death had been an experience™ and the adjustment period after had been hard. One hadn't been the most sympathetic. Not outwardly. After all, you were never a part of his grand plan. You were the wrench that got thrown in the plan. You felt kinda bad about that sometimes.
···
When One was ready to go recruit Two, he thought it best you stay behind.
"Sure. I'll be fine," you reassured him with a soft smile that didn't quite reach your eyes.
The expression on his face made it very clear that he did not believe you. But he said nothing, already behind schedule.
You woke up the next morning bracing yourself to face the next couple of weeks on your own. Except you weren't alone. A big ass dog sat patiently at your bedside, tongue wagging and panting softly with a note tied to his collar.
Take care of the dog while I'm gone. P.S. Don't let him eat my stuff.  -One.
You named the dog Wally.
···
Three's arrival was really something.
He was the complete opposite of Two. His easy going nature actually reminded you a lot of One. They were alike in a lot of ways, but maybe that's why they did not get along very well. Honestly, you could only stand the both of them in the same room for so long.
But he was nice. And he talked to you. Your conversations weren't anything particularly deep. One's rules forbid any of you from revealing personal details about your old lives. Mostly you discussed movies and TV shows.
Regardless, you lived for those benign conversations. They provided a brief intermission to the insane turn your life had taken.
···
One could tell you were struggling.
Wally the dog was only so much company.
You were adrift with nowhere to go, no one to turn to.
Your old life was gone and the only people left in your life was One, Two, and Three. They all had their own issues and it wasn't like you had any shared life experience with the older adults.
So maybe One had an ulterior motive when he recruited Four.
The first day the Skywalker showed up with his still healing bruises and luminous blue eyes, you laughed until your face turned red.
"Skywalker? We're not seriously going to call him that are we?" you wheezed in One's direction, swiping tears from the corner of your eye.
One opened his mouth, the perfect retort poised on his tongue before you swiftly cut him off.
"Is he a fucking Jedi? Are you are Jedi?"
Your raucous laughter had faded into barely stifled giggles as you looked at Four.
He sighed. "Are you done? I need a drink."
He brushed past you as you were still reeling from the spine tingling deep tenor of his voice paired with that accent. Now your face was flushed for a different reason.
"Hey, be easy on him. He just watched his own funeral, which was somehow more depressing than a normal funeral should be," One told you, making you feel like a dick.
···
Five was a godsend. Though, if One ever heard you admit it, you were sure his ego would explode at being compared with a god.
You were just happy to be around the closest thing to a civilian.
“You like him, don’t you? Number Four?” she asked you with a knowing grin.
Almost immediately your face went red. “I don’t know what you mean. Who? Me?”
Wow. Real subtle, you thought, cringing.
Yeah, you weren’t fooling anyone, especially Five. You wondered if any of the other ghosts knew about your crush on Four.
They did. But no one said anything.
···
Six figured it out within hours of meeting you and proceeded to tease you relentlessly.
So much for millennial solidarity.
The longer he was around, though, he  became like an older brother to you. You couldn’t imagine what life would be like without him.
···
With One’s team of ghosts finally assembled, Two insisted on a mandatory training exercise to assess how well everyone worked together. You had no fucking idea why she wanted you to attend this exercise. One had already made it very clear that you were not part of the mission. But you suspected she was actually trying to do you a favor.
The self defense pointers were useful, you supposed. Being paired with Four was… embarrassing and definitely Two’s idea of a joke.
On the other hand, you were finally seeing a different side of Four. A more arrogant, carefree side that made you laugh not to mention pine a hundred times harder than you were before.
Just when you were starting to have fun throwing Four around on a mat, Two steered you towards a makeshift gun range.
It had been a while since you held a gun and considering what happened the last time you did…
Needless to say you were pretty shaky afterwards, teetering on the verge of spiralling into a flashback and Four couldn’t help but notice.
···
Later, when you were hunkered down in One’s office mindlessly rewatching Leave It To Beaver episodes Four surprised you by joining you.
He didn’t say anything for a while, content to just sit and watch the little TV as you tried to ignore him.
"So how did you get pulled into all this, really?" he spoke up, finally as the credits started rolling.
You took your time answering. That was the billion dollar question that One had repeatedly forbid any of them from answering. Except, you wanted to tell someone if only to justify being a ghost. If you could get anyone on the team to believe that someone as unremarkable as you wouldn't be here if you had a choice.
You steadfastly avoided looking into his curious green eyes.
"I grew up in a small town. I was fairly popular in school. Got good grades. I was accepted into a good University in a big city..."
Oh boy, you were veering into monologue territory and you could feel the old wounds tearing open.
"There was… this cop. At a protest. He assaulted me and it was... bad. I woke up in the hospital with this guy telling me to keep my mouth shut. He… he threatened me. For weeks. Him and his buddies. Painted me as a criminal even though I didn’t fucking do anything wrong.  Finally I just said 'fuck it' and made a whole video about what this asshole did to me. Which turned out to be a mistake. Shocker, I know. He cornered me the next day and he was drunk-"
You bit your lip hard, desperately fighting back tears. Four’s gaze burned where you could feel it on your face. God, what was he thinking right now? You wanted to know. He had been silent so far, listening intently as you told him about the worst moment of your life.
“Fucking pigs,” he muttered under his breath, his lip curling in disgust.
Swallowing the lump of emotion building in your throat, you continued, "I defended myself. And that's how One found me. Over this cop's dead body. I was going to go to jail because who would ever believe I killed a cop in self defense? So, One helped me fake my death and gave me a second chance. To this day, I still have no idea why he was there when I needed him the most. It wasn't even to recruit me. He just helped me because he could. The whole Turgistan thing came later."
At last, you glanced at Four from the corner of your eye to see his reaction.
His brows were knitted together and he had a serious expression on his face you weren’t accustomed to seeing him sport before.
“I’m glad One was there to help you or I might not have ever met you.”
This boy was too good to be true.
“I'd like to get to know you better, if that’s alright.”
You were quietly crying at this point, but you nodded, smiling through the tears. “I’d like that.”

MASTERLIST
(welcome to part 3 and i hope u all enjoy this wild roller coaster :))) ALSO i will take every single billy pic/gif yall have plz lolol)
Word Count: 2,475
“And that’s where we are now,” says One. “Here in your apartment while completely disregarding apparently everything. Ya know, staying dead isn’t that hard!”
One had turned around to give Billy an irritated look. He rolls his eyes as he continues to hold Stella close to him. Everyone looks back to you and watches as you stare into space with your eyebrows knitted together. Tears welled up in your eyes as they suddenly begin pouring down. You don’t fight them back or wipe them away. You allow them to trickle down as your mind is racing. You’re trying to wrap your head around everything One had just told you. You weren’t sure how to feel at the moment.
You were beyond happy to know that Billy was alive and well, but you were also beside yourself. You were hurt and angry, but mostly offended. You lightly shake your head as your eyes scan the room and lock with Billy’s. He swallows hard as your eyes narrow and your chin quivers. He hates seeing you like this. You were destroyed and this was all his fault.
“You abandoned me.” you barely whisper.
His heart shattered even more. His face drops as he continues to watch you in distraught.
“You promised me you’d come back and you never did!” you slightly shout as you stand up fast. “You left me for… For strangers! You left me all alone to cry myself to sleep, so what!? So you could become some superhero? You gave up everything to play dead!?”
The anger that you had bottled up was finally about to explode. You could feel it burning and gurgling in your chest as everyone takes a step back from you. Your face was going red as your eyes were becoming dark. Billy holds Stella even closer to him as he fights back tears. You were speaking the truth and he knows it.
“I know,” he says fast. “I know that I hurt you and destroyed what we have! You don’t think it killed me every day to not be able to see you?” he asks.
“It killed you!?” you ask loudly as you take another step towards him. “How about me going more than a year thinking that you were actually killed!”
Billy didn’t know what else to say. He felt defenseless. No matter what he says, you were always going to bite back even harder.
“I will never forgive myself for leaving you, y/n.” he says quietly.
It goes silent for a moment as you two just stare at each other. Your chin quivers as you slowly shake your head.
“If I hadn't seen you at the park… Would you have ever came back?”
You asked a question you already knew the answer to. Billy just stares at you with wide eyes as he thinks about it. He doesn’t answer fast enough and you knew it. No. He wouldn’t of. If you hadn't seen him today, he would’ve snuck away and would have still been dead to you. That’s what hurts the most to think about.
“You didn’t want me anymore,” you whisper.
“That’s not true!” Billy harshly whispers back as he takes a step forward.
You ignore him as you continue speaking.
“You abandoned me when I needed you the most and if I can go all this time thinking you’re dead, I can go even longer.”
That statement is what causes Billy to stop in his tracks and lose his breath. It’s as if someone had punched the air out of him. No matter how hard he tried to breathe, he just couldn’t. You can’t look him in the eyes as you walk up and grab Stella from his arms. You hold her against you as you quickly backup and stare at the floor. You were shaking hard as you wipe tears away and sniffle.
“You don’t get to play dead and decide when it’s more convenient for you to come back into our lives. You need to leave.”
Your tone was stern, but still hesitant. Of course you didn’t actually want Billy to leave. You wanted him to stay with you forever and always, but you were angry. Beyond angry. No words could describe this feeling inside. You just couldn’t look at him right now. Every time you do, you get more upset. The rest of the gang all look to Billy with their eyes wide. They knew how badly this was hurting him.
One watches you for a moment as he frowns and walks up to Billy. His heart hurts for you as well, but he needed to take care of his team. He pats Billy on the back and leans in a bit.
“We need to go.” he whispers.
Billy is still staring at you as he nods his head, but doesn’t move his feet. He’s frozen in place.
“C’mon, Four.” whispers One as he slightly pushes him towards the door.
You want to scream out and tell him to come back, but you don’t. You just watch as everyone exits the apartment. Billy’s the last one to leave, but before he does, he turns around to look at you once more.
“This is where we’re staying and these are our room numbers. Just… In case.” says Two as she slides a piece of paper on your desk.
You watch her quietly as you nod your head slightly. Billy is watching you intensely as he speaks.
“I never meant to hurt you,” he chokes out. “I was doing something good for once. Something I thought would make you proud.”
“And you thought making me proud would be by deserting me?” you spat at him.
You didn’t mean to be so harsh and cruel towards him. You know that every time you are, his heart breaks a little more. You couldn’t help yourself. This anger you felt had a mind of it’s own and you couldn’t control it. You just needed to be by yourself. Billy flinches at your harsh words as he shuts his eyes and tenses his jaw. He takes in a deep breath and turns to walk out.
“I still love you.” he mumbles just before closing the door behind him.
Once it’s shut, you hurry up to it and lock it fast. You gently rest your head on top of Stella’s as your eyes squeeze shut. You begin sobbing as your body shakes. You force your way to your bed and sit down on it before your legs go out from underneath you. Stella coos a bit as she wiggles around and drifts to sleep. You thank the gods that you have her in your life. You kiss the top of her head as you lay her down beside you. You lay down as well and close your eyes. Exhaustion hits you like a ton of bricks as you drift off to sleep.
***
“Well, that went as planned.” sarcastically says One.
Everyone rolls their eyes as Billy sits on his bed with his knees pulled up to his chest. He’s lost in thought as they all speak about what had just happened.
“What if she turns us in?” asks Five.
“She wouldn’t do that.” Three says fast.
“How would you know!?” asks Five defensively.
“Because you saw the look on her face!” shouts Three. “She’s not saying anything!”
They all begin talking at once as Billy completely mutes them. His mind is focused on you and Stella only. He then suddenly remembers the letters you wrote. His eyes go wide as he leans over the bed and grabs his backpack. He unzips it fast and pulls out the bundle of letters with his name on them. He holds them close to his chest as he slowly and quietly makes his way off of the bed and towards the bathroom. Nobody notices him as they all bicker at one another. Billy locks the door behind him and walks to the bathtub. He steps inside and sits down. He needed to read at least one more you had wrote. He just needed a part of you with him.
Dear Billy,
Two weeks have passed since my last letter to you. I stopped writing for many reasons. Preparing for a baby is very time consuming (I’m sure you’d love every single second of it), work has been busy and, well… I feel almost silly for doing this. For writing to someone who I’ll never see again. Someone who will never read any of these. But ever since I stopped writing to you, something strange has been happening.
I see you everywhere, Billy. I’ve seen you as clear as day on the other side of the road while I’m out for a stroll. I’ve stopped in my tracks as you just stared at me. It was so real, Billy. It was as if you were actually there, but you weren’t. The moment someone walked by, you would vanish and I would feel completely insane. You’re everywhere and yet nowhere all at once. I keep telling myself it’s my imagination, but I don’t want to believe that. I want to believe that it’s you and that you’re somehow still here. I’ve thought about getting help for it. As much as I love seeing your face in a crowd, it’s become too much for me.
Your eyes are always so tired with dark bags under them. You never smile - there’s always a faint frown. You seem so unhappy and I so badly want to run across the street and help you, but I can’t. I can never help you again. I’ve failed you and I can never tell you how truly sorry I am. I’m so sorry you’ll never be able to meet our sweet Stella. I’m so sorry that you’re not here to feel her tiny kicks. They’re starting to become more prominent and it feels so real now. She’s real. I still can’t believe we’re going to be parents. I promise that she will grow up to know how amazing her father is. She will never go a day without me talking about you. I promise, Billy. I just miss you so much. I want you home again. I lost my home the day I lost you… So please come back.
Yours Forever,
Y/n
Billy’s face is twisted with tears flooding his eyes. His body is gently shaking as he covers his face with his hand and fights back a loud sob. He should’ve thought all of this through, but he didn’t. Why he didn’t think this would affect you this badly? He’s not sure. All he’s sure about is how he failed you. As a lover and as a friend. And now as a father. He has to make all of this right… And fast. He needs to fix this before he loses you all over again. He owes you at least that much. Before Billy stands up to walk out, there’s a loud bang at the bathroom door.
“Billy, we need to talk to you!” calls out Two.
Billy jumps at her sudden voice as he freezes and looks back down at the letter in his hand. He slowly stands up and wipes away the tears from his face. He takes in a deep breath and steps back out into the hotel room. Everyone’s turned and facing him. He knits his eyebrows all confused as he stops and looks around at them.
 “What?” he asks fast.
“We have an idea,” says Two with a slight smile on her face.
“About?” asks Billy, still not understanding.
“About y/n, you idiot!” calls out Three.
One stands up and walks over to Billy with a hard to read expression. He pats him on the shoulder and raises his eyebrows.
“You might want to sit down for this.”
***
You’re still in bed fast asleep with Stella beside you. All was quiet as you snooze away with not a care in the world. You dream of Billy and as it was before he left you. You’re both smiling and laughing as he holds you close to him. Everything seemed so normal and perfect. You were actually happy. He was making you laugh by some cheesy joke he was telling and you never wanted this moment to end… But it did.
Loud banging caused you to flinch awake. Your eyes fly open as your heart races like crazy. You look over to a sleeping Stella and begin to calm down when suddenly more banging it heard. You gasp as you sit up fast and look towards your door. You slip from the covers and very gently tip toe over to it. You hold your breath as you lean forward and look through the peephole. Your heart almost stops as you spot two men dressed in all black. One of them looks down at his watch to check the time. The other moves his jacket slightly and reveals a gun in his waistband. You cover your mouth with your hand just as one of them leans forward and bangs again on the door.
“Shit, shit, shit!” you whisper to yourself.
You automatically go into fight or flight mode. All you can think about in this moment is Stella and making sure to keep her safe. Whoever these guys are, they’re more than likely here because of Billy and everyone else. You rush over to a drawer by your desk and pull out a baby carrier that Billy’s mom had gotten for you. You quickly buckle it around your shoulders and waist as you gently pick up Stella. She whines a bit as you place her inside of it and make sure she’s in securely.
She places her head on your chest as you look around for anything else you might need. Your eyes fall onto a piece of paper on your desk. You quickly remember Two giving you the address for the hotel they’re staying at and their room numbers. You hurry to it and slip it in your pocket. You need to get out of there. You hurry to a window that leads to a set of fire stairs and open it up. The men at the door begin kicking at it brutally. You know it won’t stay closed forever. You hold Stella close to you as you step out into the night and take in a deep breath.
You’ve been doing this kind of thing with Billy for as long as you can remember. All that’s in your way now is that there’s a baby involved. You look down at Stella and nod your head as you begin making your way down to the first floor. Just as you make it safely, you hear your apartments door fling open. You hear deep voices and the sound of glass shattering as you begin running towards the direction of the hotel. Whoever these guys were, you know six people that might know them.

Last Days | PART 3
Pairing: 6 Underground! Four/Billy x reader
Word Count: 3.9 k
Warnings: Drinking, smut (Whaaaa?)
Summary: To everyone else, he was a suave young man in a gang of thieves, someone they would rather not get tangled up with. To you, he was a cheeky bastard who wouldn’t get out of your hair and most of all, a rival thief. But one day, he decides to reach out to you.
Publishing Date: 29 March 2020
A/N: Hello my dears! Thank you for being so patient with me. It’s been 2 months I think since I posted Part 2. Thank you for being so patient. I LOVE YOU. I had my midterms but now they’re over and everyone is in quarantine and practicing social isolation. Part 3 is quite short but it’s pretty satisfactory (I hope). Again I can’t say when I’ll post the next part, just know that I am trying my very best, under these circumstances, to write these fics. Thank you again! I love and appreciate you lots! (Also pls excuse any grammar or spelling mistakes I’ve made thanks)
PART 1  2
Tumblr media
Pouring your heart out to someone you’ve known for less than a year, wasn’t exactly an easy feat. But you felt like you had to do it. If it weren’t for Billy, God knows the amount of debt you’d be in. Granted, he was the one who put you in debt. But the profit from the tiara would be more than you would have gotten from the Pasteque or the Blasé.
The cold wind sent goosebumps along your skin, causing an involuntary shiver. Though it could have also been due to your nerves. Your fidgeting hands picked at the sticker on the beer bottle until it had come off.
How would you put this?
“So long story short, I think I just wanted to say…” You concluded. “Thank you.”
“Thank you?” He repeated, inching closer to hear your whispers.
“You are saving my life by giving me the chance to work with you.” You put down your beer bottle. “The tiara will give us 1 million each!”
“You do realize I stole the necklace and ring from you, right? That’s why you’re in debt.”
“Yes, but I spent a bit too much preparing for those that even if I did steal them, the profits wouldn’t be much.” Billy arched a brow curiously. “This time, however, you’re the one who’s paying for the preparation. I’m getting 100% of my profits, but you… How much did you spend anyway?”
“Well, how much was the Pasteque?”
“Christ, Billy…” You stood up from the bench suddenly. “3 Mil? This means you’re losing money!”
“Stop worrying about me (Y/N). I’m not the one deep in debt.” He lightly gripped your hand to pull you back on the bench next to him. “You need the money more than I do.”
A moment of silence passed between you two. You didn’t know what to say to him. He’s sacrificing millions for you. But why? Was he feeling sorry for you?
“You need the money more than I do.” You barely hear him utter those words. “You need to take all the money. Please.”
“What? No!” You looked at him with disbelief. “Billy, you deserve your share.”
“Well, you didn’t deserve what I pulled over the last few months. Take. The money.” He said almost harshly. “The 2 million? It’s all yours.”
“Stop making things so difficult!” Your voices started to raise, each trying to overlap the other’s.
“It’s not difficult. I’m giving you the money. Why won’t you take it?! Who’d refuse free money?”
“You’re just feeling sorry for me, and I refuse to accept your pitiful handouts.”
“This isn’t a pitiful handout. I’m just trying to help you!” He rose from his seat to stare you down. “Why won’t you accept my help?”
A pang in your chest. “Why do you care, Billy?” Your voice had started to tremble. “Why do you care how I do? Why would you willingly sacrifice so much to help me? You just care SO MUCH, don’t you?”
You buried your face in the palms of your hands. Wherever these sudden bursts of emotions had come from, you didn’t know. All you knew was that you felt ridiculous, in your huge green dress, weeping like a child in front of Billy.
You felt his warm hands wrap around you. “I can’t tell you why I care. But I just do.”
“You need to think about yourself too.” Your words came out muffled from behind your hands.
You started wiping your tears hastily and smearing mascara everywhere.
“Look.” You spoke before Billy could get a word in. “I… care about you too.”
Your words not only took Billy by surprise but you as well.
“I get that you’re just wanting to help me, or just trying to apologize. But, what about you? You need the mo-”
“I have money, (Y/N). This isn’t my third or fourth heist.” Billy scratched the back of his neck. “Unlike you.”
You were sitting on the fence here. You needed the money. The other million would help you out SO much. You just didn’t want Billy to lose so much to do so.
“Are you sure about this?”
“Answer the question yourself.” He merely sat back on the bench and stared out at the city. “Will the extra million help you?”
Silence once more. You, wondering if you can accept his offering. Him, wondering how else he can convince you to take the money. And he cared too much to give in.
“If I’m the reason why you’re not accepting the money, you have nothing to worry about. I have money from previous heists.” He suddenly turned to you. “Please don’t tell me it’s because of your pride or some other stupid thing?”
You paused to think. “And you are still working with the crew?”
“Yes.”
“You swear you have money from prior heists and the Blasé.”
“I have money from prior heists, I swear.”
His eyes watched as you bit down on lip in uncertainty, as you licked your lips to wet them. Your nose scrunched in concentration, weighing the pros and cons.
“Alright.” You started to speak. “If you really don’t mind… I’ll take the money.”
His fists thrust up in victory.  "Final-“
“On the condition that I will pay you back.”
Shrugging, he accepted your terms. “Only after you get out of that financial rut.”
A warm feeling spread in your chest. “I guess I owe you another thanks?”
“Love, you look like a raccoon.”
“Excuse me?” His comment was like whiplash on your sincere words. “I’m trying to…”
“The uh…” He playfully laughed, gesturing at the area around your eyes. “Mascara?”
“Fuck.” You rubbed at it, not succeeding to get it off at all. “Just…”
“It’s okay. You still look nice.”
“Sweet talk won’t get you anywhere, bugger.”
“You say that.” He put down his now empty beer bottle. “But I can see you biting back that grin.”
You chug down the rest of your beer to avoid his eye contact, slamming your bottle down next to his the moment you were done.
And then it was quiet again. You’ve said what you had come here to say. What else could you do? Just stare out at the magnificent view, then. Both you and Billy’s hands still lingering on the beer bottles in between.
It was comfortable, the silence. Not at all awkward like you had thought it would be. The glass bottle was still slightly cold, despite being taken out of the fridge some time ago.
Billy’s fingers were a sudden contrast to the bottle when they brushed against yours. You jumped slightly but said nothing. You, for some reason, didn’t need to think twice of what to do. You merely smiled to yourself as you returned his grasp.
Your fingers intertwine, ignoring the bottles now. Both pairs of eyes stared straight forward, and neither one spoke. But all the solace you needed was the comforting graze of his thumb over yours, just like he had done during the gala.
Your pointer finger just tapped rhythmically against the back of his hand, not knowing what to do.
His hand was so big it almost engulfs yours. His palm was as rough as it looked. And his fingers? Thick enough to make your mind wander, and your cheeks flush. Biting down on your lip, you suppress those thoughts.
Your head tilts in his direction, to see that his emerald orbs were already gazing at you.
“Hi.” He whispered.
Was it the wind? Was it the cold night? Was it the way he spoke it? Because whatever it was sent a pleasant shiver down your spine.
“Hi.” You smiled back.
With only the lone streetlight, you could barely see your surroundings. But even in the dark, you could see how intently and adoringly he studied you. The pupils of his eyes were dilated.
Heads inching closer and closer until your foreheads touched, and you could feel his ragged breath on your lips. They were hot. No words now. None of you dared to make a whimper.
It started softly. A teasing brush with just a bit of pressure. Like a dragonfly grazing the surface of the water, testing the waters. You could feel his lips curve up in a smile against yours.
How soft they were.
His lips were tender on yours, like he was mapping out every little curve. His arm dared to come up to cup your cheek as he continued to caress your mouth with his lips.
But the longer it went on, the more desperate and more passionate it got. It went from fleeting butterflies in your stomach to fireworks exploding and going off. His hands explored the curves of your body accentuated by your dress, while your hands made their home in his blond locks, gripping.
A moan escaped you when he bit down particularly hard. You pressed harder against his mouth in encouragement.
He took that as an invitation and parted your lips. You could taste the alcohol from the beer and champagne the two of you had been drinking. It was…intoxicating.
You couldn’t think straight. All you knew was that you wanted more. The heat between your legs demanded more.
You moved your leg to straddle him, but you had forgotten what sat between the two of you.
The two beer bottles fell to the pavement with a deafening crash, big glass shards shattering apart. The sound reverberated in the silent night and forced you and Billy out of your trances.
And both of you just stared at each other, frozen. You, caught halfway between a straddle, must have been quite the spectacle. Billy’s breath hitched in his throat, staring at the lipstick smeared and snogged all over your lips. He shifted uncomfortably.
He was the first to make a move- he shoved you off him. You flinched when he pushed you back into the bench, feeling your heart squeeze tightly in your chest.
Puzzled, you watched as he squatted down to clean up the glass shards. A mixing pot of emotions brewed in your gut.
Frustration. Confusion. Rejection.
And they all felt ugly.
Why’d he pushed you off like that?
You watched bewilderingly from the bench. He couldn’t even face you right now? His back the only thing you could see, with the way he was positioned.
You’re starting to remember how you look. The black mess of mascara around your eyes. Both of you panting as if you had just run a mile. Your hair was probably a bird’s nest right now.
Though Billy’s hair wasn’t looking any better. You silently ran your eyes over the job you had done, your cheeks turning a deeper shade of red when you recall the feeling of his hair between your fingers.
You felt your thighs clench.
Not the right time, (Y/N)!
“I’m sorry.” Billy suddenly spoke, standing up. He had taken the big shards of glass in his hand carefully. He breezed past you without meeting your eye and threw out the glass in a rubbish bin nearby.
Why was he sorry?
“Come on. I’ll give you a ride home.” His voice was strained. He couldn’t bring himself to look at you. Was he ashamed?
But you didn’t want to say anything either. You just got into the car with him and looked out the window, disappointed with how the night turned out. You had hoped that…
Never mind.
If you and Billy ever decide to talk about it, maybe you could blame it on the alcohol. It was certainly a factor. One too many flutes of champagnes, and the beer, you’d say. You could taste it on him, he could taste it on you.
The two of you may be sat next to each other in the car, but emotionally no one’s ever felt this distant.
Billy looked over at you. The dress and your messy bun had your back exposed to him. You hadn’t bothered to tidy up your hair.
A trail of barely visible nail marks had appeared along your spine, no doubt thanks to Billy. He didn’t know how he felt about that. Only that the front of his pants had felt tighter and he had to shift in his seat to feel more comfortable.
Sitting in the dreadfully silent car, you could only wonder two things.
1. How would the night have gone if the bottles hadn’t been knocked over?
2. How far would the two of you have gone?
But those questions weren’t meant to be answered. The night took a wildly different turn. He had decided to shove you off him.
And that hurt you more than you cared to admit.
A sense of dread washed over you as the car pulled into your apartment. The car came to a stop. Your grip on your purse tightened. What now?
Is he expecting you to leave right away? Perhaps you should say something. Something that had been bugging you.
“Billy,” Your voice came out weaker than you had expected, but it was enough to gauge his attention. “I hope you don’t think I only kissed you because you gave me money.”
“NO! No! I wasn’t thinking that.” He was nervous, fingers twiddling while he wracked his brain for something to say.
You dared to meet his eyes. They were wide with anxiety.
“Can I walk you back to your apartment?”
It feels like ages ago since the two of you were in this elevator together, though it has only been a few hours, earlier in the day.
While previously the two of you could successfully diffuse the tension, this time it was too much. Both your minds kept drifting back to the heated make-out session, too flustered to say anything. You tried to focus on anything other than the ache between your legs.
You did your best to ignore Billy, who kept changing his stance, visibly uncomfortable.
You could have sworn that you thought Billy had the same feelings. That’s why you dared to go all in. But… he had pushed you off. Rather quickly too. Now everything’s become so painfully awkward.
“I’ll be back next week, okay?”
His voice sounded so loud in the small elevator.
“W-Why?”
“I’m going to give you the money.”
“Okay right.” You tilted your head curiously. “A week?”
“It’s going to take me a few days to get it to the proper pawn shops. I can’t sell the entire thing all at once. Too much suspicion.”
“Okay.”
“And it’s going to be in cash only.”
“Why…?”
“Cash is less traceable.”
“Oh okay.”
Dear God. Were ‘why’ and ‘okay’ the only words you could muster? You need a good slap.
From Bil- no.
You crossed your legs. You can see the unmistakable blush on your cheeks from the reflection. He could see it too.
“I’ll call you, okay?”
“What?!” Your exclamation was a tad too loud. Billy looked at you as if you had grown a second head.
“To keep you updated…?”
“O-Oh, yes. Of course.”
Gosh. 'Painstakingly awkward’ couldn’t even begin to describe the mood. Hurry! Come on!!!!
A silent breath of relief escaped you when the 'ding!’ of the elevator was finally heard. One second later and you would’ve combusted from the tension.
You bunch up your dress in your arms and trudge out the small space, Billy following closely behind.
You unlocked your door and suddenly you didn’t know what to do. Would inviting him in be too weird? Perhaps you should just bid your goodbyes. Or say anything. Thank him? Yes, probably.
“Thank you. Again.” You let out a nervous laugh, which he hesitantly returned. “For the uh… 2 million.”
“Yes, you’re welcome. Not a big deal.” Pursing his lips, he briefly scanned your person. “And the earrings. Hopefully, you’ll keep them?”
“Oh! Of course. Yes. Thank you.”
And both of you just nodded like two idiots in the doorway of your apartment. You cringed inwardly. Now what?
“Hey, I’m quite tired… So uh.” You tapped on the door, mentally slapping yourself. God! What was that lame sentence?
“Okay, I’ll just leave you alone then.” Ouch. You looked anywhere but his person. “I’ll call you. Text you. Uh, whatever you prefer.”
“Yeah, I… thank you! Goodnight!” And you swung the door shut, praying that you didn’t come off as too insincere or rude. Because right now, you only had one thing on your mind.
“Fuck sake.” You whispered under your breath. “What was that?” You were bumbling and mumbling around like a shy schoolgirl talking to her crush, which was very unlike you! You’d rather not know how much you had been blushing.
But you knew your foggy mind was a result of something other than your nerves. You knew quite well what it was.
“Bloody wanker.” You cursed, finally giving in.
You made a beeline for the bathroom, fingers fumbling desperately with the zipper of your dress. If you had opened the door any harsher, it would’ve come right off its hinges.
Your dress pooled at your feet and you kicked it off hurriedly as you entered your small bathroom. Stopping just for a second to gawk and laugh at your reflection in the mirror. You did look like a raccoon, one that just had a heavy make-out session, that is.
You managed to wipe off your makeup in record time and hop in the shower.
Sighing loudly when the hot water from the showerhead hits your body, you lean against the other side of the wall. Not that it made much of a difference. The shower area was pathetically small, just enough room for you to spread one of your arms. How luxurious right?
Well, it was the apartment that you could afford. But now you’d have enough money to get out of this hovel. And you owed it all to one person.
It wasn’t just the hot water that was warming you up. Your mind kept drifting back to the hill. How hot and bothered you had become. How riled up you still are now.
Your fingers swiped over your lips, applying just the smallest amounts of pressure. His kiss still lingered on your lips, the fading taste of alcohol on the tip of your tongue.
Your finger trailed down between your breasts and along the curves of your figure. You could remember his starved touch, how the caress of his large hands left an ache between your legs. Oh, how you wanted to satiate it.
Your hand sneaked down to where you wish his had gone.
A strangled gasp escaped you as soon as you brushed your sensitive bud. That’s how pent up you were. Your cheeks reddened, because all you could think of was what he would say if he were here.
“So needy.” He would tease. “All for me.”
The hand on your lips inched up to your hair, gripping hard. If it were him, how hard would he pull? How far would he go?
You let your imagination ran wild. Your finger rubbed small circles on your clit, and you imagined it was his thick and large fingers instead of yours. His body would be pressed against yours, pressing you harder into the wall. His lips would be by your ear, asking you how good you felt, before they continued to make red marks down your neck.
Then his lips would trail down to your chest, his hot breath igniting the nerves of your skin before he wraps his plump lips around your nipple, sucking the sweet moans out of you.
“Count for me, love?” His already deep voice would be an octave deeper. The tip of his middle finger pressed lightly against your entrance. It sent jolts of electricity up your spine.
He slowly inserted the first finger, dragging out the feeling so you can take it in. It earned a whiny moan from you.
“O-One…” You breathed out.
His middle finger began to thrust in and out, his thumb still playing with your swollen bud. Your gasps and moans were music to his ears.
“Ready for more?” He grinned wickedly. His index finger came into play and yet another eager whimper escaped you. His fingers curled up in a come-hither motion, curling against the spot that has your toes curling.
“TwO- FUCK!” You bite down on your lip, hard. You were loud. Your free hand goes up to clamp your mouth while his fingers continue to pump in and out of you rhythmically.
“No, no.” He suddenly says, his other hand letting go of your hair to move to your jaw. He pulls away your hand covering your mouth. “Let me hear you.”
And so you did, staring straight into his greens while he soaks up every sweet moan and curse from you.
Then he added his third finger, adding onto the thickness, filling you up more. A loud cry left your lips from deep within your throat at the additional friction.
“You can take it?”
You just nod in reaction, desperately grinding against his fingers as a sign for more. He took in your response with a lick of his lips.
He began to quicken the pace of his pumps, and the pace of his thumb around your bud. You just hope you didn’t wake the neighbors as your head threw back in ecstasy, loud pants and moans filling the small room.
“You’re such a good girl for me.” He groaned. “Such a good girl.”
Your eyes shut tightly as your mind clouded over. You couldn’t keep them open when you started to reach your high.“
"Are you gonna cum for me?” He asked, placing kisses on the tips of your chest. “Let me hear it. Let the whole floor hear you.”
You could see yourself on the small mirror of the other side of the wall. Your full breasts rising and falling, chest heaving. Your head against the wall while your jaw slacked wide open with filthy moans. You, chasing your high and getting off to imagination.
In the mirror, you see a glint of green through a blur of tears. The emerald earrings, still on your ears. You had forgotten to take them off. It turned you on further.
“Come on.” He says. “Scream my name.”
The pace on your clit quickens, the shine of the emeralds egged you on. All of it sent you over the edge. You couldn’t hold back your loud cry when you reached your toe-curling, back-arching orgasm. Your vision is white and eyes were squeezed shut, but you could still see his eyes savoring you as you fell apart.
“BILLY!” You moaned hard, knees buckling as you gasp for breath through your high.
“Good girl.” You barely hear his whisper through the muffled ring in your ears. You couldn’t feel anything besides the intensity between your legs.
But it ended sooner than you had hoped, and the feeling ended within a matter of seconds. You’re left to lean against the wall for balance while you blink away the white spots of pleasure, chuckling quietly at what you just did.
You steadied yourself with your arms. Your fingers were starting to cramp up.
It was suddenly so quiet, with just the sound of the water hitting your skin and the tiles. It felt so solitary, so empty. There hadn’t been a blond hunk that fingered you to orgasm. Oh, but wouldn’t it be nice if there had been?
You pumped a few blobs of shampoo into your palm, massaging it into your hair. Your reflection stared back at you. And so did the earrings.
Maybe... Just maybe... And you admit it.
You walked a few steps in front of the mirror, gazing at the emeralds. You smiled fondly.
Maybe you fancied Billy.

don’t be a baby
Pairing: Billy x Reader
Summary: Reader is a nurse who’s brother falls into the Sky Walker crowd. After he gets injured, Billy takes it upon himself to look after Reader’s brother and calm Reader’s nerves as they get ready for their next job. But when the job goes awry and Reader can’t keep Billy safe, how does she cope?
Word Count: 11K
Warnings: Smut (only 18+ interact please!), swearing, blood and softness bc we love two idiots pining over each other but refusing to acknowledge their feelings for each other!!
Tumblr media
A/N: I wrote this in a caffeine fueled burst of inspiration after talking to @mrhoemazzello about how much of a baby Billy would be when he gets injured and you have to patch him up and it made me so soft and shoutout to @itsabenthing for helping me flesh out this idea and for always being such a great cheerleader 💖but this bad boy is DEFINITELY going to be a two parter so keep an eye out part two coming soon!
Also the first part of this story takes place before the events of 6Underground and the job they’re planning and go on is the one in the movie just to give everyone some context.
💖💖As always likes, comments and reblogs are always appreciated 💖💖
There was a thump at the window.
She ignored it. It was close to midnight and the idea that someone could be knocking on her (three stories high) window at this time seemed ludicrous. She groaned, shifting in the chair she had curled up in hours ago, reaching out for the sweet release of unconsciousness to claim her before her anxiety kept her up.
She knew Billy was most likely gone. She didn't want to admit it to herself but the relentless loop in her head was a broken record of he's gone he's gone he's gone he's gone.
There was still a part of her that hoped Billy had gotten away unscathed. She had seen him in action, she knew what he was capable of and she sent out a wish that Billy would come running into her apartment like the day he came running into the hospital.
~~~
She had been working in the Emergency Room, taking over a fellow nurses night rotations in exchange for a few extra days off, when a man had limped in, blue eyes frantic, blonde hair damp and smashed to his forehead, carrying what looked like a dummy in a hoodie, both of them covered in dried blood.
She raced around the desk to them, looping the arm of the prone man around her shoulders as she helped steer them to the nearest room. The blonde kept babbling on about how the man between them had hurt himself while they wrestled the man into a bed. Once the unconscious man was laying down, she pulled back the hood obscuring his face and felt her soul leave her body.
Her brother's face was the one staring back at her.
Now is not the time. Pull it together. You know what to do. Her Nurse Brain kicked in and she shoved the blonde to the side as she hastily started taking care of her brother. Once he had been stabilized and diagnosed with nothing more than a nasty bump on the head, a broken ankle and a badly bloodied nose, she had shoved the shadow who had been following her around into the hallway, crowding him into the supply closet and demanding answers.
"Who the fuck are you?"
"Oh, careful there, love. You keep talking dirty to me like that and I'll fall in love with you."
"Why the fuck were you with my brother?"
"Taking him out on a date because he spoke to me with the same dirty mouth you both share apparently."
He was obstinate, shifting between smart ass answers and flirting as she tried to get any scrap of information from him. She finally hit her limit and spat out, "He's my fucking brother and if you don't tell me what happened, I'll assume it was you and have you thrown in jail. I don't give a fuck about you," She had jabbed a finger into his chest and he winced, "but I do give a fuck about my family."
Her Nurse Brain activated again when she saw him wince. Eyes zipping over him, assessing, she took in his bloodied face and hands. "Unzip your hoodie."
"Interesting. I'd always heard that angry sex was the best. Can't believe I'm gonna find out if that's true in this supply closet."
Rolling her eyes, she'd batted his hands away as he tried to prevent her from unzipping his hoodie. Fixing him with her if you don't let me do my fucking job I'll kill you and make it look like an accident stare, he had held his hands up in surrender.
Metallic ticks were the only noise as she pulled the zipper down, revealing the red tank top underneath.
"Wait, was this originally white?"
A huff of breath was the only answer she received before she pulled him back into the room with her brother, patching him up while she kept up a running commentary of grumbling about how he had endangered not only her own brother but also himself.
"I mean, what kind of stupid, reckless, idiot would do something like that! Jesus, you see one too many Marvel movies and think, 'hmm, that looks easy. I can do that too!' I mean honestly."
Her monologue was interrupted by the feel of a rough palm grasping her forearm. It seemed like trying to get the next words out were more painful than sustaining the injuries he had already taken that night, "I was protecting him. He works with our crew well and I told him not to come with us but he insisted. Said he needed these jobs so he could help his little sister pay off her student loans."
That had shut her up.
~~~
He didn't remember falling asleep but he stirred as he felt his arm being moved.
"It's okay, it's just me."
"I'm sorry, I don't know a 'me'. I only know the hard ass nurse who I had incredible sexual chemistry with." He heard her huff out a breath, could almost hear her eyes rolling as well. Her fingers were gentle as she made sure the IV drip in his arm was still firmly in place. She saw his lips quirk and rolled her eyes, again, "Go back to sleep. I like you more when you're unconscious."
"Great bedside manner you have there, sweetheart. You got a name?"
There was silence, then, "It's (Y/N)."
He sighed, "Well, (Y/N), it's nice to meet you. I'm Billy, and that guy in the opposite bed? That's Mark. Though I'm assuming you two already know each other since you're related and all."
"If you weren't in a hospital bed, I'd smack you."
"There's that bedside manner that keeps the patients coming back."
~~~
Billy didn't remember when he drifted off again but when he came to, the light on the other side of his eyelids was the dull yellow of the beginning rays of sunlight welcoming another morning. Eyelids fluttering open, Billy had seen her, curled up in a hospital chair right by Mark's bed, hand cupping her brother's as their chests rose and fell in tandem. Feeling like he was encroaching on a private moment, he closed his eyes again, praying that the tear he felt running down his cheek would dry before either of them would wake up.
~~~
"Hey. (Y/N). Wake up. C'mon. I've got him from here, go home and shower. Grab some food."
Her eyelids flickered open and a groan came flying out of her mouth as she slowly started rolling her neck around. As she did so, she couldn't help her eyes from straying to the bed across the room. But it was empty.
~~~
Her brother had been discharged the next day and she'd been keeping a close eye on him since. A few days later, she kicked open the door of his apartment, yelling out a greeting as she tried to balance the two large tote bags of food, games and movies she had brought over to help keep him entertained and fed as he healed up.
"I know you're a purist when it comes to Star Trek but I brought over the reboots because one, Chris Pine is very easy on the eyes and two, Star Trek is Star Trek I mean, as long as someone says 'live long and prosper' you're good, right?"
Her voice trailed off as she padded into his living room only to be met with four pairs of eyes staring back at her. Everyone, including her brother, was wearing black athletic clothes making them look a bit like a goth gymnastics team, she felt like a toddler amongst them in her over-sized sweater and leggings.
Her eyes sought out her brother's in hopes he would explain. Mark's eyes pleaded with her to be understanding and it wasn't until she heard someone clear their throat that she realized she recognized the blue eyes staring back at her,
"I'll, uh, I'll just come help you unpack those bags. Okay, love?" The steel cutting along the edge of his words gave her no time to argue as she felt Billy's large hand pressing into her lower back as he shoved her into the kitchen.
Tripping over her feet, she flung the Star Trek DVD back onto the counter as she rounded on Billy.
"What the fuck are you doing here?" the words were pulverized through her clenched teeth. Her hands curled into fists to prevent them from shaking. She was terrified that these people were back in her brother's life, and only a few days after he had left the hospital because of their recklessness.
"It's so lovely to see you too! I missed you and your warm bedside manner so much darling." He snarled back as she crossed her arms over her chest.
"Now is not the time. Last time you showed up in my life you almost got my brother killed. You better explain yourself now or I'm grabbing the broom and beating everyone in that room out the door and then breaking the broom over your head personally."
Blue eyes widened till she could see the whites all the way around them, "How are you allowed to take care of people? You should be locked up by the pigs not me." He swiveled around, grabbing a beer from the fridge and popping the top off by putting the lid of the bottle against the rim of the counter and hitting it with the heel of his hand.
Peering out of the corner of his eye he saw her eyes widen, a flush building in her cheeks. She hated how that simple action had sent a flash of warmth through her.
Smirking, he turned back to her, bringing the bottle to his lips, taking a long sip as she shook herself from thinking about what other things Billy could do with his hands.
So maybe she had noticed how handsome he was after he had fallen asleep in the hospital. She was only human.
"While I'm so glad you're enjoying my brothers hospitality, maybe you could dignify me with an answer?" She knew the sarcasm dripping from every word was poisonous but she couldn't help herself. Just because she had seen dried tear tracks on Billy's face when she had woken up to check on him in the cool dawn morning and, alright, maybe she had checked the medical records in the hospital for information on him ("It's like Facebook stalking!" her voice rising as she quickly tried to close his records after her co-worker called her out on it.) and maybe her heart had twisted in on itself when she woke up the next morning and he was gone and maybe she had spent a few thousand hours thinking about him and wondering if she would ever see him again didn't mean she wanted him in her life.
Right?
Sighing, Billy leaned back against the counter, crossing his arms as the bottle dangled between two long fingers, "We're planning another job and we asked your brother to do surveillance. All he'll be doing is sitting on that couch," he closed one eye, pointing towards the sofa Mark was currently residing at, "watching security cameras and making sure none of us get caught and warning us of any potential baddies around the corner. It's easy, it's harmless and you could even be sitting next to him babysitting if you're really that concerned about my safety."
Rolling her eyes, she stepped forward to start unpacking the bags, needing something to do with her hands and eyes. Looking right at Billy was like staring at the sun. She feared looking at him for too long would result in permanent damage from his eyes boring into hers, or that the fluttering in her stomach would get stronger the more she talked to him.
She'd be lying if she said she hadn't seen the group Billy ran with around the city. Walking along, earbuds in, minding her own business, she'd hear a thud, look up and instead of squirrels scampering along the telephone wires, it would be people. Executing flips, yelling, jeering, she'd watch in awe while Nurse Brain would be calculating what kind of injuries they'd sustain and how bad said injuries would be if they fell, but they never did.
They looked more comfortable walking in the sky than on the ground. They were flying. Confident. So sure that there would be something there to catch them. She had started calling them "Sky Walkers."
Every time she saw them from then on, she always had an ache in her heart for the rest of the day. She craved the security and confidence they had. She'd looked down at her feet encased in Nike's, cursing them for staying ground to the tiled floor of the hospital.
"All I know is, last time my brother got mixed up with you guys, he showed up at my hospital, bloody and unconscious." Her shoulders hunched forward as anger drained from her body thinking about how frightened she had been. "Can you blame me for being scared?"
This last sentence was almost missed by Billy. But seeing her look so defeated, Billy's heartstrings tugged. Mark talked about his sister a lot. It was clear they took care of each other. He had always wondered what it would have been like to have that consistency.
Placing Tupperware on the kitchen table, the silence stretched out as Billy sized her up. Finally, her eyes rose, meeting his underneath the harsh fluorescent light. The eyes staring into hers were calculating but not cold. They weren't the eyes of a doctor, sizing up a patient and only seeing a maze of veins, arteries and organs that with the right snip or stitch could be fixed. His was a gaze that peeled back the layers of skin and bone, seeing right into the most vulnerable parts of yourself.
"You've noticed that your loans are almost entirely paid off. Haven't you." It wasn't a question. It was a statement. Billy had been the one to walk Mark through the steps to help pay off her loans without it being suspicious. He had heard her on the other end of the line when she called to tell Mark how much her loans had gone down. The voice on the other end high-pitched, tinny, but the love between them so palpable he had to leave the room.
Her eyes darted down as she busied herself carrying Tupperware over to the fridge, her hair a curtain over her profile as she leaned down to place it in the fridge. "He loves you, you know. A lot. That's the only reason he took the gig." He took a sip of beer, watching her frame, way too still to not be listening, peering into the fridge but not seeing anything. "He's friends with Jean, the mastermind, out there and when he complained about how unfair it was of you to have so many loans, Jean offered him a cut of the benefits if he helped us with the job."
She didn't feel the coolness of the fridge air wafting over her, she felt nothing but enormous guilt. She was the reason he had been injured. That he was mixed up in this crowd. She was the reason he was putting himself in harms way and if he died? It would be all her fault.
Billy, chuckled to himself as she was gripped in the throes of an existential crisis, "Jean's a good guy but I think he mainly knew having a nurse in our good graces would be immeasurably helpful."
His eyes widened as she turned to face him, flecks of mascara caught in the tears moving down her face but she didn't seem to notice them streaking down. It seemed like she barely noticed him, "You have to keep an eye on him. Please. If anything happens to him-because of me-I-I don't..." her voice trailed off.
Billy crouched down, cupping her shoulders as he pressed his forehead into hers, "Hey. Hey, love. Love? Look at me, focus on my voice, okay?" He pulled back so he could look into both of her eyes. With enormous effort she pulled herself back to this moment, in her brothers kitchen, crouched on the floor with a Sky Walker. "I'll keep an eye on him. He's one of us now. We look after our own, got it? We always do." She nodded, searching his eyes for any sign of lying but there was none. Just warm, blue skies, promising her that from then on out, everything would be fine.
~
After their rendezvous in the kitchen, Billy had gone back to the living room to plan while she had splashed cold water on her face and pulled herself together. By the time she slunk out of the kitchen, arms wrapped around herself, everyone was leaving and Billy had his arm around a brunette girl who reeked of sexual experience and danger.
She was pretty sure she reeked of "Christmas Cookie" hand sanitizer and sexual frustration.
Billy caught her eye as he strolled out of the room, winking at her as he walked past.
Her heart caught in her throat at the action but remembered how his girlfriend was someone who flew through the air with enormous ease and she was someone who was locked on the ground.
~
Patching her brother up came easy to her. She wished it had been the first time she had fixed him up but that would be a lie. She went over to his apartment a few times a week. Sometimes the other Sky Walker's would be there, sometimes not. Most of the time if they were over, they spent their time planning the next big heist. Maps and blueprints covered every available surface and surveillance footage became a comforting background noise as she would prep dinner or check Mark's ankle and help him do physical therapy.
Sometimes it would just be Jean hanging out, playing video games with Mark. The first dinner he joined them for, she found she could barely look at him. The resentment towards him still a solid rock in her stomach.
A few meals later, Jean gently tugged her into the living room after she had gotten Mark set up in bed, "Alright. I know why you won't look at me. Let me have it."
He had sat on the couch for over an hour, hands folded in his lap, nodding as she ripped him a new one, getting out all of her fear and anger. Once she had run out of steam and was standing in front of him, he had taken her hands in his, making the same promise Billy had. That Mark was one of their own now. He would do everything he could to take care of him. The eyes peering back up at her were full of nothing but sincerity.
Glancing down, she sniffled, peering at their hands intertwined, "You have questionable tattoos." Jean barked out a laugh, "You think mine are bad? You should see some of Billy's."
From then on, she looked forward to having the Sky Walker's around. Whenever she entered Mark's apartment in the weeks leading up to the mission, her heart would speed up in anticipation.
Sometimes it would come crashing to the ground when she saw no sign of Billy. Other times, she was positive individuals could see her heart beating through her shirt when her eyes caught his from across the room.
The only downer was, if Billy was there, that usually meant his girlfriend, Cassandra, was there as well.
She had tried, a valiant effort in her opinion, to make nice with her. Most of the time, they were the only girls around. Working to find common ground with Cassandra was proving to be a difficult task, mainly because Cassandra would fix her with a blank stare until she slunk back into the kitchen to restock Mark's fridge.
The last straw for her had been when she had walked into Mark's apartment, yelling hello only to look up and see Cassandra fixing her with a blank stare and sharpening a knife
She quickly found that anyone who carried their own knife sharpening kit was someone she didn't particularly trust. It made her nervous then, that Billy did so much.
But she didn't want to interfere. She didn't want to think about all the lethal ways Cassandra could injure her with that blade if she found out she had meddled in her relationship.
When Billy was there, she could hardly stop the grin that threatened to split her face as she busied herself in the kitchen making food for everyone, jumping every time someone came into the kitchen, waiting for Billy to come in under the guise of getting a beverage but always stopping to chat with her.
Those stolen minutes in the kitchen with Billy were quickly becoming her favorite times.
She hadn't meant to develop a crush on Billy, but, how could she not? Other than the physical reasons, (she had once seen him take his shirt off to try on a new one and she almost dropped a whole bowl of soup into Mark's lap) he was genuine. Ever since he had looked into her eyes and promised to take care of her brother, he had kept that promise.
When plans would change, he'd come into the kitchen and update her. He'd tell her all the different contingency plans they had. And while she knew her brother wasn't going on this mission, she still felt a sense of peace wash over her as he walked her through the plan.
There was one night she asked him, "How did you even get into the Sky Walker stuff?" Coughing on the sip of beer he'd just downed, he made a choking noise, "The what stuff?"
Blushing, she realized she had let slip the private name she had called them ever since she first saw them leaping through the sky, "Umm, Sky Walkers? It's dumb, I know, but I saw you guys months ago leaping over buildings and wires and to me, from the ground, it was like you were walking on the sky, like you had mastered the force and the elements and I've called you that ever since..." her voice trailed off as Billy sat down next to her.
Laying his arms on the table, a smirk played across his lips, "Well, now that I know you're a huge Star Wars nerd, you're even cuter." his eyes dancing with mirth.
Her heart sank at that. She knew Billy didn't feel the same way about her (why would he when he had Cassandra slinking around out there waiting out for him to join her in the sky) but her heart still leaped at the knowledge that he thought she was cute.
His eyes fixed on an unseen spot as he mulled the name over, "I gotta say, I like the name Sky Walkers. Might bring that up to the whole team. Give you full credit and trademark rights of course." He winked and she giggled as she pulled her mug of tea closer.
"Why don't you join us in the living room? You're always welcome. And I have insider intel that when Jean's over, you two hang out like you're best friends. So why don't you want to hang out with me?" He made an exaggerated pouty face at her as she struggled to not lean over and bite his exposed bottom lip.
"Because you annoy me" she said primly as she lifted her mug to her mouth, then before she could stop herself, "and I don't think your girlfriend likes me very much."
The tea was scalding but she forced herself to take a long sip so she wouldn't have to look at Billy's face.
Billy sat there, studying her, she seemed so out of place with the dark clothes that were rotating in and out of Mark's place. They'd all be caught up in planning, then she'd come bursting into the apartment and it was like she was bringing sunshine in with her.
She painted her nails with pink sparkles, she watched romantic comedies, she told him about the little kids she played with in the hospital on her rounds, she laughed easily, she engaged with the other members of the crew, pulling them into her warmth, her goodness. She had patched all of them up at one time or another. The more she got to know the whole crew, the more she relaxed and the more she relaxed, the more Billy found sunshine spilling through her cracks and coaxing him towards her warmth.
But then, Cassandra would lazily lift an eyebrow at him, nod her head and he'd leave with her. He'd known Cassandra since he joined the Sky Walkers. They'd just recently started...well...he wouldn't call it "dating" so much as he and Cassandra would do a job together and then have mind blowing sex after when adrenaline made them both want to explode out of their skins.
He was starting to realize though that he and Cassandra didn't...talk. Not like how Billy talked to (Y/N).
He laid out his hands on the table, looking at his fingers. They were calloused, rough, covered in tattoos. Her hands were soft despite having to wash them a million times a day. ("I use lotion every day, multiple times a day, how do you not own lotion Billy?" He had walked into Mark's apartment the next day only to be met with a bottle of Bath and Body Works hand lotion being thrown at him by Mark. His heart had squeezed in his chest, making it hard for him to breathe.) and her nails were adorned with pink sparkles. His own nails were busted and, he was pretty sure, had dried blood under them.
He had no business thinking the butterflies that erupted in his stomach every time she smiled at him meant anything more than she was cute and he liked cute women. Never mind that if she said Cassandra didn't like her he was on the verge of saying he'd dump her.
"Yeah, well. Cassandra doesn't like too many people. I wouldn't worry about it too much." He slapped his hands on the table pushing himself up. Lifting her eyes from her mug she watched him retreat back into the living room, the muscles of his back moving and shifting as he made his way back to the Sky Walkers, slipping easily onto the arm of the chair Cassandra was lazing in.
She really hated how good they looked next to each other.
She finished her tea, listening to them finalizing plans and making arrangements for the job, which would happen the day after next.
She had been hoping she'd have a shift scheduled at the hospital but no such luck.
Sighing, she stood up to rinse her mug out. In less than 48 hours she would be back here, sitting with Mark, trying to keep herself occupied and to not care too much that Billy was out there and she couldn't do anything to keep him safe.
~~~
The job went awry so quickly.
She didn't know what to make of it. One minute she had been sitting on Mark's sofa, curled up with a book as Mark sat at his desk, surrounded by monitors. Listening to him call out commands, chuckle softly at jokes, the sharp tap of keys as he disconnected security cameras or diverted them away from where the Sky Walkers were prowling.
For a while, she had been standing behind him, watching all of this happen as the group slipped through the halls of a lavish hotel. Tapping Mark's shoulder, in an over exaggerated whisper, she told him to tell the team that she said good luck and that if any of them got injured she "wouldn't patch them up because then they wouldn't learn anything."
Mark rolled his eyes and obliged, reaching a hand down to squeeze (Y/N)'s in a reassuring gesture.
Through Mark's headset, she heard the team giving their thanks, promising her that this job would do away with the rest of her loans and they'd be back to her before she knew it. Billy had looked dead set into the nearest security camera and winked as he promised he'd come back in one piece.
A gasp flew form her parted lips as her brother cleared his throat, reminding Billy to get his ass moving and to stop flirting with his sister.
Then, shit hit the fan.
It started with her hearing Billy's roughly accented voice piercing through Mark's headphones, yelling about the jewels being fakes.
Mark talked him through it, as Jean yelled back at Billy which is when Mark started yelling.
That's when she had heard gunshots.
Everything was a blur after that. She ran to the monitors and thought she was looking at a video game. There were so many men with guns running towards where the Sky Walkers were she assumed it was an army of some sort. She saw the flash of guns discharging and people she knew, people she had come to love, fall to the ground where she hoped like hell they would get back up again.
Part of her wanted to call her hospital, pull some strings and help as many of them as she could but Mark had pulled her into his chest, telling her it was no use.
In the confusion and mayhem she thought she had seen Billy, necklace clamped firmly between his teeth, jumping through a window but she couldn't be sure.
So, she and Mark had to sit and wait. Till Jean came back.
Just Jean.
He explained what had happened as he and Mark sat at the kitchen table, nursing a bottle of whiskey. She had stayed for one drink but the grief didn't feel like one she could share in.
She finally left, as she walked away, each step thudded to the ground while the only refrain that carried her home was billybillybillybillybillybillybilly. It wasn't until she found herself standing outside of her front door that she realized her body had carried her home while her thoughts had been in the sky.
Her body felt heavier, though she knew that a part of her heart had died in Mark's apartment that night and she wasn't sure if it would ever be whole again.
Her body was on autopilot as she stepped into the shower but each drop of water hitting her back felt like a knife.
She knew Cassandra and the rest of the team were there to help him. No matter how she felt about Cassandra personally, she knew she was part of the team. They were there for back up but so many people were in the fray.
So many people gone.
The water had gone cold by the time she stepped out of the shower. Not that she could feel it anyway.
Braiding her hair, she settled down on the chair by her window. It overlooked the fire escape she would lounge on with a glass of wine on nice summer nights.
Tonight it was empty, utilitarian. Only reminding her of how many Billy had fallen through as he tried to get away.
She leaned her head against the window, feeling the glass pushing back against her skull. Easing the dull ache that throbbed within as she closed her eyes.
~~~
That's where she had been when she heard the first thump.
Sleep had been within her grasp when she heard the second thump.
Groggily reaching into her sweatpants pocket, she pulled her phone out and saw it was 3:14 am.
There were no texts or calls from Mark.
She sighed, rubbing the bridge of her nose, wondering if it was her neighbors making that noise.
The third thump rattled her window causing her to jolt out of her chair.
Slowly, she reached her hand forward, nudging the blinds back, letting her eyes adjust to the nighttime as the lights from street lamps below worked to permeate the darkness that covered the world. That's when she saw the dark lump of something on her fire escape.
Squinting her eyes, her first thought was, why would someone throw their garbage bag onto my fire escape?
Flicking on the lamp she had by the window, it cast an uneven glow over the lump revealing dark clothes and athletics shoes spattered with blood.
The figure raised its head and time slowed down in those moments. The wan light drifting up from below barely illuminated the eyes staring back at her but she'd know the color anywhere. Those blue eyes, the color of her sky, was the only way she knew it was Billy.
The rest of him resembled a man who had scrabbled his way back from hell. His face was covered in scraps and tears. His visage and hands covered with dried blood. There was a wound on his neck that was slowly leaking blood but had started to congeal into a nasty mess.
His hair was matted to his head. His right eye was ringed in the blues and blacks of the beginnings of a nasty black eye. Sweat shined on his face as he blearily took in her face. He did his best to fight the smile breaking over his lips but he was so grateful to see her he barely noticed when his lips cracked even more.
As she opened the window she heard someone panting "thank god thank god thank god" and it took her a minute to realize that the prayer was falling from her lips. She bundled Billy into her apartment, setting him down on the chair by the window, still warm from her body.
She locked the window, drawing her curtains closed and rushed over to the front door, double checking it had been locked as well. For extra security she pushed one of her kitchen chairs underneath the door knob.
Hearing a snort she turned, "You watch too many bad gangster movies as a kid?"
Fighting against the lump in her throat, her voice came out thick as she tried to match his snark, "Yeah, well. You'll thank me later when the bad guys are stopped by my Ikea chair."
He heaved out a sigh that she supposed was as close as he could get to a laugh in his state. Sinking deeper into the chair, hissing as he finally allowed his body to relax. Nurse Brain kicked in as she took stock of his body, where he was holding tension, where he was avoiding putting pressure, assessing how old the cuts were. After a quick run down, she raced to her freezer.
Filling her arms with every bag of frozen veggies she had, she quickly wrapped them in paper towels, briskly walking back over to Billy's form. She watched the rise and fall of his chest, listened to the rattle of every intake, so grateful for each shuttery breath.
The grateful feeling was quickly overcome by anger. This asshole.
This was the second time he had shown up to throw himself at her mercy in a horrific state. She almost wished he were dead. She felt her knees shake, betraying how grateful she was that he was alive and in her apartment.
Instead of telling him all that though, she slapped a bag of frozen peas on his eye.
Yelping, his body curled inward as his hand reached up to catch the bag, pressing the peas back into place, "What the fuck? These are bloody freezing. I barely make it out alive and you're trying to kill me with frost bite from," he pulled the bag back squinting at it, "frozen peas?"
"Oh I'm so sorry that the frozen veggies I slapped on your busted face so you don't swell up like a fucking balloon aren't to your liking. My sincerest apologizes your majesty." She hissed out as she slapped another bag on his side as he let out a grunt.
He pressed a hand to the bag against his side as she mumbled, her fingers dancing over his form as she poked and prodded, trying to feel what the damage was, what she could do for him here and if he needed to get to a hospital.
"Couldn't make this experience a little more pleasant could ya?" He didn't mean to be a dick but in his defense, he had had a hell of a day. The job didn't go at all like they planned, he'd lost friends, Cassandra turned out to be a backstabbing thief, he didn't get the necklace, he'd fallen from the top of a building and then, to really just make the day fucking wild, when he'd come too, some weirdo had offered him the strangest proposition he'd ever heard after pretending he was going to kill Billy.
So, yeah. He was a little grumpy.
"You're lucky I even let your sorry ass into my apartment. How do you even know where I live anyway?"
"I've been having you followed by my top men."
"You asked Mark didn't you."
"Fuck."
Her lips quirked up for a second as she finished rotating his foot around checking for any swelling or broken bones. Standing up she declared, "You don't have anything seriously wrong or broken on you which is a fucking miracle. Just some bad scraps that I can take care of here." She made her way to the hall closet where she kept a first aid kit and other medical accessories. Ever since Mark sliced his hand open one Thanksgiving which had been dubbed the "Bloodiest Thanksgiving Since The Pilgrims Landed" she figured she'd better be stocked.
Billy sank lower into the chair. Leaning his head back he let out a sigh, hearing (Y/N) mumbling to herself, rattling around, he could almost pretend that he had come over under normal circumstances.
Hearing the soft thud of her footfalls, he cracked an eye open as she pulled a stool closer to his face. Looking up at him through her eyelashes, she started pouring something on a cotton ball, "If you thought the frozen peas were bad you're really gonna hate this."
"What could be worse than-" his sentence was cut off by a strangled cry as she pressed the cotton ball onto the scrap by his eye. Slamming his fists on the arms of the chair, he felt his body seize up as he fought to keep control, "Fucking hell (Y/N). Seriously, they should revoke your nurses license."
"You keep disrespecting me like that and I'm just going to dump this whole bottle on you." She snapped at him. Billy pried his eyes open as he took deep breaths. He turned his head to face her, opening his mouth to fire off another comment when he glanced down at her hands and stopped.
She was getting more of the disinfectant on the floor and her legs than she was getting on the cotton ball held in her hand. Her voice managed to be strong and sure but her hands told a different story. One of anxiety, one of worry, one of relief.
"Were you worried about me baby?" His voice was so soft that for a second she wondered if someone else had entered her apartment. Locking eyes with him, she thought about how just hours before, she had been certain she would never see his face again.
Never joke with him again, talk to him, share a quiet moment with him, never learn everything about him, never sit with him at their own kitchen table one day.
She wanted that. She wanted hours and days and months and years of kitchen table talks with Billy. Feeling the relief at having him back with her, she didn't even think about her next actions.
She leaned forward and kissed him...only to pull back immediately, "Oh my god I'm such an idiot. Your lip is so busted, I'm so sorry I shouldn't have done that, that was so dumb and what if I had hurt you even more? That would have been terrible-"
Billy's hand reached up, cupping the back of her head and pulling her into him. Her lips were soft and he bet a hundred bucks that she used chapstick every day. He knew his lips were chapped, cracked and probably coated in dried blood but he didn't care. Feeling her pressed against him helped take away the fear he had been trying to tamp down ever since the maniac in the garage had pretended to kill him.
Finally pulling back he let out a shaky laugh, "Were you really that worried I wouldn't come back to you, love?"
"No, I was worried that you wouldn't help me pay off my loans. Fuck your safety, I needed money." She was trying to get them back to their usual banter but the big gulps of air she was taking betrayed how she was really feeling.
"You were worried about me. You wanted me to be safe and come back to you in one piece. Don't deny it." The smugness of his voice made her smile as she pressed a kiss to his cheek and whispered in his ear, "You ever tell anyone I said this and I'll deny it but, yes."
She pulled away, placing the cotton balls and bottle on the floor, giving herself some time to collect herself as Billy reached his hands toward her, grabbing her own and rubbing his thumbs over the backs of her hands, sending sparks up her arms right into her heart.
Her heart ached for both of them. They both had lost so much today but they were lucky enough to be able to come back to each other. Billy heaved a sigh and looked up at her, "You were right."
"I usually am but what specifically was I right about in this instance?"
"You're a giant pain in my ass. About Cassandra. She wasn't trustworthy. Left me hanging off the edge of a building, stole the necklace and left the rest of the team behind," he brushed a piece of her hair out of the way, letting his fingers linger on her cheek, "should have listened to you."
Blushing, she leaned her cheek into Billy's palm, "Hmm, I could get used to hearing you tell me that." Billy chuckled as she straightened up and fixed him with a glare, "You just have to keep promising me you're going to come back to me in one piece."
Billy's eyes darkened, shifting in the chair as he remembered the deal the man in the room had proposed to him. Being able to go completely off the grid. Everything wiped clean. He would be a ghost.
But being in (Y/N)'s apartment, holding her hands in his, having her smile, kiss and hold him...he wondered if he had made the right decision.
"I'll do my best, darling." He muttered, purposefully not saying promise because he knew, some day soon, he would break that promise and he didn't know if he'd be able to live with himself knowing he had broken her trust.
Placing a soft kiss on his lips, she stroked the side of his face with her thumb. Sniffing she shook her head slightly, "Alright. Quit distracting me, I need to finish patching you up."
He chuckled, "Would it kill you to be nice to me? I mean, we just had an incredibly tender moment and I did have a pretty rough day..." his voice trailed off as he widened his eyes in an attempt to gain sympathy. She scoffed as she grabbed the cotton balls and disinfectant again.
"I suppose falling from the top of a building would kind of ruin your day. Now hold still. And don't be a baby." She dabbed the soaked cotton ball on the scrap on his neck, intertwining her fingers with his as he hissed out a breath. Squeezing his fingers, she murmured apologizes and encouragement, "I'm sorry my love, it's okay. Breathe. You're doing great."
After slapping some band-aids on the worst of the cuts ("What, no Spiderman Band-Aids?") she helped him to the shower, leaving him to wash off the day as she went to her room to find some sweats for him. Luckily, she had nicked plenty of Mark's sweatpants over the years so she laid those and a shirt out for Billy to find when he came into the room from his shower.
Hearing the door open, she looked up only to be met by a shirtless Billy, hair slicked back, chest damp, towel riding low on his hips. She didn't mean for the sharp intake of breath to be so audible but it was worth it when it earned her a smirk from Billy as he crossed over to her.
"Even beat up all to hell, still not a terrible sight, huh?"
Swallowing thickly she just nodded her head in agreement. Not trusting herself to speak she quickly turned and grabbed the clothes she laid out, shoved them into his arms and left, the sound of Billy chuckling following her out into the living room.
Settling onto her couch she fiddled with the end of her braid, contemplating why she had seen anguish flash through Billy's eyes when she made him promise to come back to her in one piece. She had definitely noticed the lack of the word "promise" when Billy answered her request.
The timeline of what happened since he fell didn't make much sense either. If Billy had fallen from the building, then where had he been for so long? There was no way somebody would have ignored a body laying unconscious in the street, especially with cops swarming the building.
"Baby? Hey. I can sleep on the couch. I don't mind."
Jolting out of her thoughts, she blinked as she came back to the present moment, Billy standing over her, "No! You shouldn't be sleeping on a couch. You can sleep in my bed."
"I've been waiting for an invitation to your bed for a long time baby." She flushed as she pushed herself off the couch. Grabbing Billy's hand, they walked back to her bedroom. Settling themselves under the covers she was gripped by a sudden wave of anxiety, should she try to cuddle with him? Would he want space now? Did she want to give him space? He was the one sharing her bed.
The anxiety melted away when she heard a voice in her ear, "Come here, love. I won't bite. Unless you're into that." She giggled she turned her body to face his, nuzzling her face into his chest, breathing in the smell of him as he wrapped his arms around her, pressing a kiss onto the top of her head.
Stroking her back, they drifted off to sleep. Their breathe synching up as they finally felt safe from the world as they created their own little one in each others arms.
~
The light streaming into her apartment caused her to stir. Stretching her body out she almost forgot that she had shared a bed with Billy last night. When she remembered, she was gripped with panic when she realized he was no longer there. Leaping from the bed, she raced into her living room, making sure that the door hadn't been busted down and Billy had been taken while she'd been sleeping. She knew it was illogical or she'd have to be the most sound sleeper on the planet but she still exhaled a breath when she saw her door was still locked and the chair underneath it still in place.
"Gotta say, I did sleep better knowing that we were protected by your highly sophisticated security system." She turned at the sound of his deep voice, he was standing at her stove, cooking eggs as he smiled at her, "Did you really think I'd leave you like I did the first time we met?"
Shaking her head she went to him, wrapping her arms around his waist, exhaling as he wrapped one arm around her shoulders, using his other arm to keep stirring the eggs. "Don't scare me like that. I thought you got taken and I'm not Liam Neeson. I have no skills to use to find you." His chest rumbled with laughter, "Well, Liam Neeson isn't as pretty as you but you're crafty. I'd trust you to find me."
Placing a kiss onto his chest, she giggled, "Do you want coffee?" he nodded, "Also, how are you feeling today?"
"Sore. Like I fell from the top of a building and landed on concrete."
"Huh. Interesting. Did you do anything out of the ordinary yesterday?" Faux innocence lacing her voice as she measured out coffee grounds.
"Yeah. I fell from the top of a building and landed on concrete." Was Billy's deadpan response which had her cracking up which made Billy laugh at how hard she was laughing.
They finally pulled themselves together and stared at each other, him smiling, her hiccuping as she wiped at her eyes, "We're some pretty sick fucks for laughing at something like that, huh?"
He shrugged, "Probably. But it feels good to laugh. Especially with you."
~~
After breakfast had been cleared away, Billy had stretched out on the couch, more bags of frozen peas on his various injuries. She came out of the kitchen, taking a moment to enjoy the peace before she broached the inevitable, "So, we should probably see Mark and Jean at some point. They're going to want to know you're okay."
Billy grunted in agreement, tipping his head back to look at her, "Yeah. That's not a bad idea. They're going to be pissed I came to you first before them though."
"I don't think so. I think they're just going to be relieved that you're alive. Plus, I am a nurse. It'd make sense to come to me and not those two chuckle fucks." She padded over to the couch, standing over him. "If you had gone to them first they would have just brought you to me anyway."
"That's true." He gazed up at her before grabbing her hands and tugging her down. Resisting, she giggled, "I don't want to fall on top of you and hurt you more, but I'll lie down next to you if you want."
He nodded eagerly, shifting his body over on the couch to make room for her, she curled up against him. Their legs intertwining as she splayed a hand over his chest, the rise and fall of his chest a balm to her anxiety and helping root her to him.
Inhaling deeply, then instantly regretting it at how it caused his ribcage to feel like it might crack, Billy felt more content here than he ever had in his entire life. He wanted to capture this feeling, bottle it, find a way to make it permanent. Make it stick so he wouldn't have to do what he knew was coming.
Sighing, (Y/N) snuggled closer, and his heart broke at how cruel he was being, how selfish. But he couldn't help it. He had asked for 24 hours and by god if he wouldn't make the most of them.
"Hey." he murmured into her hair, she made a noise in the back of her throat that made his heart skip a beat. He brought two fingers to her chin, tilting her head back so she'd be forced to look at him. A slow grin traveled across her lips as he drank in her face, memorizing every part of it so he'd never forget. He had done it so many times in Mark's apartment in shitty lighting that in good lighting, it was like seeing your favorite painting in person instead of through a computer screen.
Leaning down, he brought his lips to hers. Cupping his cheek with her hand, she kissed him back, relishing in how good it felt to be able to do this instead of just imagining it. Pulling back she smiled, resting her forehead against his.
"What is it, baby?"
"It just...you have no idea how long I've wanted this. And to finally be able to do it...I don't know. It feels really good to have you here, with me. Like this." Widening her eyes she pulled back, "Not like, you being injured but like being with you in this, way." Her voice trailing off when she became bashful at how vulnerable she had just been.
The wave of love, adoration and warmth he felt for her crested over him, causing his eyes to fall closed to keep the tears at bay. He didn't deserve this, he didn't deserve her. But, fuck, he would make the most of this time with her and make sure she knew how much he loved her.
Tilting his head back down, he locked their lips together. She moved her lips against his, memorizing their curves, their slopes, how they fit together. Her hand cupped his cheek, being mindful of his black eye and the various scraps covering the planes of it.
Feeling her hands caress his face with care, Billy became overcome. He was upset, guilt-ridden and worried he had made the wrong decision. Fighting to keep himself in the moment, he deepened the kiss, gripping her waist with an intensity that startled her. She jolted forward, causing Billy to groan when her heat made contact with the bulge that was growing larger by the second.
"Damn baby, we've only been kissing for a minute, quit trying to get into my pants already."
"You wish I was trying to get into your pants." her lips brushed against his with every other word and she could feel him smiling. He nipped at her bottom lip, causing her to gasp which allowed him ample time to connect their lips, exploring her mouth with his tongue. Their hands drifting up and down their sides, exploring as they got more comfortable with each others forms.
Dancing her fingers down his arms, she felt the muscles clenching and unclenching as his hand found her hip and squeezed causing her to moan involuntarily. Smirking, he ran his hand up and over the rise of her hip, trailing his fingers down into the dip of her waist. She snuggled closer to Billy, breathing in coffee, disinfectant and the unmistakable scent that was Billy.
Draping his arm over her waist, he pulled her even closer to him. Feeling his hardening length in his sweatpants she tested the waters by circling her hips against him. Causing a moan to erupt from his mouth and throw his head back in ecstasy.
"Baby, what's the professional nurses opinion of having sex when someone's injured? Asking for myself because if I don't have sex with you tonight I just may toss myself off another building."
Giggling, she ran her fingers through his hair, pushing it back from his forehead so she could look in his eyes, "In a nurses opinion? Probably not. But in (Y/N)'s personal opinion? Who gives a shit I've wanted to fuck you since the first day I saw you."
Locking his eyes onto hers, her breath hitched in her throat at the intensity of his gaze. His normally sky blue eyes were the color before a storm and his hand was locked onto her hip with a strength that she couldn't wait to explore later.
"Then get up here, baby, and fuck me how you've always wanted to."
Swinging her leg over, she found herself straddling Billy, placing her hands on his chest, she felt the large planes of his chest expanding as he took a shaky breath in, his eyes glassy. Flicking her hair back she leaned forward to kiss him deeply, "What baby?"
Shaking his head he cleared his throat, "Nothing. Just, dammit baby. You look like a goddess."
Blushing she bent down to nip at his throat, causing him to buck his hips up, causing his hard length to rub against her clothed cunt causing them both to dissolve into moans. Pushing herself up, she started rocking her hips teasingly along his cock.
Whining in the back of his throat he begged, "Please, love, I don't care, just fuck me. Please."
Shocked at the control she had over this man, she ripped the t shirt she had been wearing over her head, exposing her tits and black underwear she had been wearing. Billy keened and grasped her tits, causing her to push her chest forward, the feel of his calloused palms teasing her nipples caused her eyes to roll into the back of her head.
Billy reached his hands down, shimmying his sweatpants and underwear down far enough so his cock sprang up between them, her mouth watering at how thick it was. Stroking her center through her panties with two fingers he cocked an eyebrow at her, "I can't exactly fuck you through these so they'll have to go. I don't care how sexy they are."
Laughing, she stood up on the couch, resting one hand on the wall as she shimmied the panties down her legs, kneeling back over Billy's exposed length when Billy stopped her, "Wait, hold on a second baby." He teased one finger, then another into her dripping core, pumping in and out slowly as she rocked her hips forward trying to get more of him into her.
Billy slowly dragged them out, popping his fingers into his mouth and holding eye contact with (Y/N) as he sucked his fingers clean, relishing the sweet taste of her, "Okay, baby. I think you're wet enough."
"Damn right I am." She murmured as she sank down onto his hard cock, taking his full length, resting her hands on Billy's strong chest pushing her tits together in the most delicious way Billy had ever seen. His hands found purchase on her hips as she started rocking back and forth, working his length. Feeling his cock stretching her walls in the most amazing way, she tilted her pelvis in that way she knew would have his cock nudging her g-spot, getting her closer to where she wanted to be, which was total ecstasy with Billy.
Billy's eyes screwed closed as she found her rhythm and worked his cock, trying to reach her orgasm. His whole body felt like an exposed fuse, bursting with energy and if she touched him in the right way he would combust.
"Billy, please, rub my clit..." she panted as she rocked her hips faster, Billy could feel her walls clenching as she went faster and he reached down, rubbing the sensitive nub with his calloused fingers, causing her eyes to roll into the back of her head as she chased her high, "Is that what you want baby? Yeah? You wanna come all over this cock?" Billy mumbled as she stared up at the angel fucking herself over on his cock. He almost came seeing how blissed out she was but then he rubbed a little harder on her clit and it pushed her right over the edge. She came with a strangled cry of "Billy!" and her walls clamped down as she fell forward into his chest.
"There's a girl, such a good girl. My best girl. My only girl. Oh my love, taking me so well..." Billy mumbled as he stroked her hair, "Now, let me take over." She nodded as Billy grasped her hips and started slamming his hips against hers, causing her to moan out, feeling her pussy tighten again as he brought a hand down to her ass, the sound of the sharp slap reverberating through her apartment.
Distantly, in the back of her mind, she wondered if this was good for him in his current injured state but being so close to a second orgasm left her with one thought but to cum around his cock again.
Finding a rhythm, their hips met as she pressed her lips to his, catching his moans and hoping to mute her own as they fucked each other into oblivion. All too soon, she felt the familiar catch in her stomach as her second orgasm came around, "Billy..I..I'm so close."
"I know darling, me too. Can you wait? Can you cum with me? Please baby." She nodded as Billy fucked her harder, she rocked her hips faster and then suddenly, Billy let loose a string of expletives and she chanted billy billy billy oh god over and over again like a prayer as she felt him fill her pussy with his warm cum.
After a few minutes, she pulled away from his sweaty chest, pushing her hair behind her ears as she grinned down at him. Grinning back up at her, he tickled her waist, "Normally I can last longer but that sex has been building up for several months."
Throwing her head back she let out a laugh, "Don't worry. I don't plan on stopping having sex with you anytime soon. We have all the time in the world to build up a tolerance to each other."
A dark look washed over Billy's face as he contemplated how little time they had but instead of answering, he pulled her down into another kiss, "Let's just focus on today, love."
~~~
They spent the rest of the day entwined on the couch, mixing it up between lazy make out sessions, sex and her standing up to get the door when the delivery person rang the door to drop off food and beer.
She had asked if Billy wanted her to text Mark and Jean but he just told her he would deal with it soon. So she didn't push it. She knew she was being selfish but she wanted to keep living in this world that consisted of her, Billy and the pizza they ordered alive for as long as she could.
Unfortunately, it ended all too soon as all good things are wont to do. Soon enough, Billy was pulling on his shoes, as it grew dark out, she had been getting comfortable when he knelt down next to the bed. "Listen, love. I need to drop off something to Mark and Jean. Don't wait up for me." He leaned down to press a kiss to her forehead as she lifted her head up to meet him halfway.
"It's late babe, are you sure they'll still be up?" He fixed her with an incredulous look, "It's Mark and Jean. Of course they're still awake." She shrugged as she considered who they were talking about and conceded defeat. "Just come back to me in one piece okay? If you want," she hastily added as she realized he may want to go back to his own home "It's an open invitation. I'm sure you want to go home."
He smiled at her with melancholy in his eyes as he pressed a kiss to one cheek, "With you?" then a second kiss to her other cheek "I'm always home" Biting her lip to contain the smile threatening to break her face in two, Billy decided he had never seen a more beautiful woman and wanted to alway think of her like this.
~~~
She woke the next morning to 25 missed calls from Mark and 33 from Jean. Blearily, she called Mark. Once he picked up and started rambling, she hung up and stared straight up at the ceiling.
It wasn't until Mark came to get her after not hearing from her for hours did she register how damp her cheeks had become. She was numb. Time didn't mean anything, nothing meant anything anymore.
Billy was dead.
He had broken his promise.
~~~
Standing at the edge of a gaping hole in the world, she contemplated throwing herself into it along with the empty casket they'd be burying. She barely registered the low rumbles of a priest talking but not really hearing anything. Billy had gone to Mark and Jean, told them he needed to run a quick errand and gone back to the hotel they had just robbed from. He had been running along the roof, where it overlooked the rocky ledge of the ocean. He had jumped, thinking there was a platform there but there hadn't been. There was Billy, the air and the jagged rocks along the coast the only thing to greet him.
The coast guard searched for hours but had found no body. Just the black rubber bracelet he always wore around his wrist.
Twirling the bracelet between her fingers now, she decided that since the casket was empty, there was no point.
She had been numb since she got the news. Not moving from her couch unless Mark or Jean came to propel her into the shower, make her eat some food. but she really didn't see a point in doing anything anymore.
He had promised.
And now he was gone. So what did it matter what she did? People left, they broke promises, and words and promises didn't mean anything to anyone she guessed. She may as well do anything she wanted.
Lifting her head she saw Mark, Jean and two women who had introduced themselves as Billy's mother and sister. Mark had introduced her as Billy's girlfriend and they murmured how much Billy talked about her but it was all too little too late.
She didn't want to know anyone else other than Billy but that had been ripped from her. Standing at the edge of his grave she felt Mark and Jean grasping her shoulders, telling her they were going to give her some space. So it was just the three of them and as his sister looked at her, she smiled a thin smile, "You're just as pretty as he said you were."
She fell to her knees. It was all too much, She couldn't support herself without Billy. What did it matter? All her skills, all her knowledge about keeping people safe when she couldn't even save the person that mattered most.
~~~
"Oof, there are three certified hotties just weeping over your grave dude. How doe that feel?"
Billy's stomach clenched as he saw (Y/N) fall to her knees at his grave, watching his mother and sister race around to help her. It wasn't until One clapped a hand on his shoulder did he register that he had involuntarily moved forward to help her.
"Nuh-uh bro. Not anymore. Don't even think about doing a Christmas Carol Ghosts of Christmas Past bullshit. I spent way too much money for you to blow this whole operation."
Billy nodded mutely. Keeping an eye on the women around his grave he swallowed around the lump that had been stuck in his throat since he had left (Y/N)'s apartment.
What One had suggested to him had been too good to pass up. And when One had promised, in writing, that (Y/N) would always be kept safe and comfortable, it was a no brainer. And he knew, in his heart of hearts, that she deserved someone better, more stable than him. Not some Sky Walker who always had his head in the clouds.
Who one day may not come back to her.
Taking a deep breath he turned his back on the trio that were surrounding his grave. Sending up a prayer, he hoped she would be safe and would get over him soon. Because he knew he would never get over her for the rest of his short, harrowing life.
All throughout the night, Four couldn’t sleep. He kept tossing and turning, unable to get the thought of almost dying out of his head. Usually he had no problem the first time when he first met One and Zero, but for some reason this time it became worse. He got up and sat on the bed, running his hands over his hands and face before looking around and going to his bag. Four searched around for a bit, since it was dark and the only light he had was from the windows, before he found what he was looking for and went outside. He didn’t smoke often, just when he was stressed and needed to relax. He loved seeing other cities at night because of how each of them always had different energies and different lighting structures. As he was smoking, Zero felt cold before turning and felt an empty spot next to her. She got out of the bed to see a figure smoking on the balcony before realizing it was Four. She shook her head and got out and went to wrap her arms around his waist. He turned his head to find her behind him before she let go and went to his side. They stood there in quiet as he breathed in the smoke and exhaled.
“Can’t sleep?” he asked
“Didn’t have my heater with me. What about you? Was it because of what happened?” she asked him, rubbing his shoulder concerned. He didn’t answer and stood quiet smoking which meant that he was.
“I overheard.”
“What?”
“I overheard what you said just before you guys stopped. You said, “I’m not going to watch another person I love die.”. Is it true? Do you love me?” he asked not even looking at her while putting his cigarette out
“Of course, but it’s a different kind of love and I haven’t truly felt it before with someone. I didn’t even realize at the moment. Look. There's something I need to tell you. He’s going to kill me for this but, Six, he was my brother. We’ve been through everything through thick and thin. He was my best friend, and the best older brother. Seeing him die made me want to shut away from everything and never even bother to feel again. Then, that one night, I felt something but I disregarded it, and kept ignoring everything. You kept charming your way into my heart and I let you in. a few hours ago is when I said it out loud for the first time. Hell, I even pulled a gun on three making him stop the car.” she said making four let out a small laugh
“You pulled a gun on someone? I would’ve loved to see that.” he said smiling
“Yeah, I did, but I didn't want to hold it in any longer. I didn’t want to say something that could’ve been too late, but it’s not too late now. I love you Four.” she finished
Four looked at her with a small smile on his face before looking down. He left out a small laugh before lifting his head, and grabbing her face to kiss her. She pulled him in as she took one of her hands to hold his face. When they broke away, their foreheads touched as they breathed heavily.
“I love you Zero.” he told her
“One more thing i wanted to ask you” he asked after a moment of silence as she nodded
“Earlier, when you ran off to the bathroom? Are you okay?”
She stood there in silence because she didn’t know exactly what it is and they didn’t know when they were going to be finished so that Five would be able to test her
“Yeah, it was probably just nerves or something bad I ate. No need to worry.” she told him as he nodded and looked back over the city
The two stood in silence, staring at each other before kissing each other again with more passion as they walked back into their room, trying not to trip or hit anything. When they reached the bed, she took off his shirt as she broke away from the kiss and started to kiss against his jaw and neck before finding his sweet spot as he moaned. He laid down on the bed as Zero sat on his lap as they connected their lips again. After moments of kissing, he was about to flip her over before she stopped him
“No. Tonight, it’s all about you.” she whispered looking into his eyes
She broke away and began to leave light feathery kissing against his neck, his breath hitching as one of her hands reached down and began to palm him through his sweats, already hard. He let out a groan, Zero leaving marks over his collarbones. While pressing kisses down his chest, she pushed down his sweats along with his underwear. His cock laid against his stomach, as pre-cum glistened at the head. She wrapped her hand around it and started to slide it up and down slowly. Four couldn’t help but let out a groan as his eyes closed and let out a small “fuck” while his chest rose and fell heavily. She leant down and gave a kiss to his head and licked underneath causing him to let out a gasp.
She slid her lips over his head, moaning before taking him even sliding down even further. Bobbing her head up and down, hands around his dick as he lightly grabbed her head and pushed her down further.
“Fuck. I’m so close.” he barely whispered
She continued to bob her head as he tried to hold in his moans as she began to suck harder, working his shaft with determination.
“I’m going to cum, fuck.” he told her as hold ropes of cum shot out of his cock. The salty liquid ran down her throat, warming her insides as she pulled away with a pop. Four looked at her in awe as she moved away to take off his shirt that she was wearing. Leaving her in her underwear, she began to grind on him as one of his hands reached for one of her breasts as she moaned when he did so. He hooked his fingers from his other hand around her underwear, signaling her to take it off. When she took it off, she grabbed his cock and lined herself up as the tip touched her. She slowly sank down as small whimpers left her mouth as he applied pressure to her clit.
“Fuck, you’re so tight. Are you okay?” he groaned hitting his head against the headboard, his bottom lip between his teeth as she seated down on him, his cock buried inside her with his hands now tightly set on her waist, enough to leave small bruises
“I’m fine. I’m okay, just want to make up for the plane ride”
“Well woman, you’re doing a lot more.”
Zero started to roll her hips, letting out small breaths of relief and a breathy moan against his neck. Her hand moved from his shoulder all the way down to her clit where she started to rub herself. Four was letting out moans of her name as she bounced up and down on him while he thrusted up. His hands loosened the grips on her waist, now one to her ass and the other caressing one of her nipples, sending a shockwave of pleasure. She leant down so that both of their foreheads were touching as they continued to move in sync
“Oh this feels so good, baby girl.”
“Does it?” she asked panting and moaning, while whispering dirty things in his ears making him thrust into her harder, moans and groans coming out from the both of them
His hand moved down to her clit and started to massage it, as Zero was panting, all while repeating his name and small whimpers in between
“Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.” she whimpered as he began to get more rough against her core
“Shit, i’m so close. Do you want to cum?
“Yes. yes, i do.”
“You’re such a good girl. Let go” he whispered to her before kissing her as she became undone, letting out a whine
“Only for you baby. Please fill me up, fuck. Come inside me.”  she told him, voice shaky
“Shit, baby”
Four gave a few more thrusts before he released inside of her. His cum coating her walls, a warm sensation filling inside of her as they breathed heavily, a thin layer of sweat covering their bodies as they pressed their foreheads together.
“I love you”
“I love you too”
---
As their breathing died down, it was quiet. This time the sex felt different for them, as if there was more emotion and they felt more connected. He looked down at her and kissed her head as she took his calloused hand and began to trace the tattoos that scattered his knuckles, kissing each of them.
“What do they mean?” she asked him, looking back into his green eyes
“Not sure, just felt like getting them. I think my favorite one is the lion’s nose. Makes me feel stronger.” he told her as she flipped over onto her stomach
“Lion’s nose? I always thought it was a whale tail?” she laughed causing his to smile
“Well i guess it kind of does look like one, but yeah it’s a nose.”
“Do you think the rest of this mission is going to go the way it’s planned?” “No. remembered what happened several hours ago? Whatever happens, just know we’re in it together and we always have each other's backs.” he told her giving her a peck and holding her hand
“C’mon, we should get some sleep. We have a big day tomorrow.” he finished as Zero went back to her original position and laying next to him, holding him
“Night, four.”
“Night Zero”
The next morning they knew they had to get up earlier so Four can go back to his room after covering up the markings they made on each other. After their talk the night before, they didn’t care as to what One thought about them or if he didn’t allow it. They both found someone who cares about them and they didn’t want that to be torn away from them.
The team gathered in the same spot where they gathered before but in an empty truck further out where no one can fully see them. Four grabbed Murat out and took him inside where they all were. Before they started to talk, One got mad at Seven and Zero for the stunt they pulled the night before claiming that they should’ve left Four behind.
“This shit isn’t sitting right with me, man. You made me a promise. You said you’d always let me pull the trigger.” seven told one
“Yeah. yeah. I did say that.” One said
“You remember that?!” Seven asked, grabbing One by the collar and pushing him up against the wall.
“You know why we don’t use names?”
“Why?”
“No offense, Four, I’m glad you’re alive, but you left us out on that street there. We were totally exposed. The both of you.” One told Seven and Zero pointing at them
“If i was up there, I’d expect you to leave me and not turn back. Mission is more important than the man. We were lucky enough to get the footage at any possible camera available removed.” he finished
“No, fuck that. Fuck the mission. You don’t leave a soldier behind.”
“Well, I got news for you. Seven, you’re not a soldier anymore. She’s not a hacker. She’s not a doctor. She’s not a spy. He’s not a hitman. And I'm not a CEO.” “You mean a rich asshole?” Zero interrupted
“Oh i’m still a rich asshole sweetheart. I just don’t have a name.” he said looking at her
“You are. What’s your name?” Seven asked Four. he looked at him, Zero, and One before saying his name before this life happened
“Don’t tell him.”
“I’m Blaine. I just saved your life. What’s your name?” Seven or Blaine told Four as he took a moment
“It’s Billy.” he said. Zero looked at him even though she already knew. He still did look like one every time she glanced over at him
“Billy. You look like a Billy.”
“You look like a Four.” One interrupted
“And you? You said you loved him. So, what’s your name?” Blaine asked Zero
“Y/N.”
“Yeah I can see that.”
“I’m Javier”
“Camille”
“Amelia.”
“God dammit. Okay we’re leaving now. Four, Zero. I need to talk to you.” One said in a demanding tone as everyone looked at them then left
One didn’t even know where to start as the two stood next to each other as he paced back and forth. Every now and then he would stop and point as if he did think of something to say before going back to doing what he was doing. Billy and Y/N didn’t know what to do besides stand next to each other and subtly brush their fingers against each other to make sure they’re both alright and not have their hearts bust out of their chests from how fast it was beating
“Mad doesn’t even cut it to how angry I am right now. Did the two of you not listen to a single thing I said?” One asked flailing his hands everywhere
“Oh my god. This is why I don't want shit like this to happen. How long?” he finished while rubbing his temples while the two stood silent before speaking
“Since you, two, and three went to Vegas. That was our first time sleeping with each other.” Billy answered truthfully. One couldn’t but just let out a deep sigh while running his hand through his hand
“Jesus. I can’t control this group.” he whispered to himself
“Okay. I know I’ve been against things like this since the beginning of this group, but if you two break up and it ends badly, I’m not going to say I told you so. Be careful about this.” he finished pointing at both of them before walking away and leaving the two standing there.
All Billy and y/n could do was stare at each other before grabbing each other’s hands and following. They both knew what the other was thinking and told themselves from the beginning that if they decided to end things, it should be mutual and they would talk out every single one of their problems. She wanted him to feel like he was in a safe space and didn’t have to hide his feelings deep down and he wanted her to know that focusing on herself was okay and that she didn’t always need to pretend that her feelings weren’t valid and always play the therapist role.
can we do it? - billy/four - chapter 4
okay this is a continuous chapter for 3 but i’m putting it as another chapter since it makes uncomfortable when chapters are sometimes split up into parts
also before any of you say that the first half is plagiarized, just know that i took it from MY (mine and only mine) other fic because it would’ve taken me forever to write it all out without laughing from awkwardness and feeling uncomfortable
the weather has been really hot lately because of the heatwave in california and it’s the worst in norcal to the point where it reaches 114 sometimes so if i lack in updates just know it’s because of that and that i also am working 7 hours a day sometimes so i don’t have time do update every single day.
summary: one team, seven people, two lovers, things are about to get crazy and zero and four don’t know if they can do it with everything going on.
Pulling away and gasping for breath, a smile began to stretch along both of their faces as they started to laugh. It’s something they have been wanting to do for the longest time and thought that it was finally the right time to do it. They didn’t even care as to what One would think, especially if he wasn’t there anymore for the next couple of days. Before they connected their lips again, Four stopped to make sure that Zero was comfortable and that it’s what she wanted
“Are you sure this is what you want? Because we don’t have to do anything you feel uncomfortable with and I don’t want to pressure you.” he told her while holding her waist lightly
“Yes, I’m sure this is what I want.” she told before placing her lips back onto his
 He broke up their kiss and began to leave small kisses on her jaw and leaving marks over her neck as she moved her head to the side giving him more access moaning while she played with the back of his hair. as they connected their lips together, he flipped her over so he was on top and they were more comfortable. Four began to move his hand under her shirt and massaged her breasts causing her to moan in his mouth in response as he continued to place small kisses over her collarbones where he started to leave marks. Breaking away from their kiss, she looked at him before taking off her shirt leaving her with her with her bra on and jeans on. His hand moved to her back taking her bra off. His hand wandered from all over her exposed chest as he moved
down to her jeans and unbuttoned before tugging them off as he began to suck on her nipple which caused her to let out a soft moan as her hands ran through his hair as his tongue swirled over her ever so lightly.
“you’re so beautiful” he mumbled against her skin
Zero began to fumble with the belt of his pants pushing them down and taking them off. He took his hand off her breast and dragged it down to her core where her wetness was pooling through her panties. taking off her underwear, Four pushed apart her legs and started to kiss around her thighs. his lips were itching towards her heat.
“fuck, you’re already so wet and tight. did i make you like this?” he asked as he gave small kisses and licked her fold
“yes” was all she could breathe out as her chest rose up and down
He wasted no time when it came to eating her out as he moved towards her clit and sucked on it lightly. Four heard her whimper, as a smirk plastered onto her face. Zero became more and more frustrated as she whimpered and pulled on his hair, wanting more. One of his fingers itched it’s way towards her entrance before pressing it into her and curling it upwards. Finding the sweet spot, he rubbed against it with a determined look. Moans were escaping her lips, as if they were music to his ears, something he had been waiting for her for a while. He added another finger, picking up his pace. She began to remember all the things they did the first time they had met each other back in Ukraine before he had joined the team
he leant down and started to lick her again as she arched her back and grabbed a fist full of the sheets surrounding them
“fuck, Four, i-i’m close” she panted. she could feel him humming against her clit, sending shivers down her spine. his fingers hitting the sweet spot, at the same time while he sucked particularly harder, making her start seeing stars. the coil in her stomach began to unravel as his name left her lips while she came around his fingers. he brought his fingers up to his lips and licked them clean, as he plastered a smirk on his face and she looked at him in awe. She never felt this way with any of her old boyfriends and could never get to the point where Four has gotten to.
Their lips connected once again, she could taste herself still on him. Zero’s hand went down and began to palm him through his boxers. He moaned as she continued while hooking her fingers around the elastic band, pulling it down. his cock laid against his stomach, as pre-cum glistened on the head. moving her hand, she wrapped her hand around it and started to slide it up and down. Four couldn’t help but let out a moan and scrunch his face in pleasure as his chest began to rise and fall heavily. Zero leant down and gave a small kiss over his head, and licked underneath causing him to let out a gasp and push his hand against the back of her head.
“Shit, you’ve barely started and i feel like ‘m going to cum before we do anything” he moaned out
She slid her lips over his head, moaning before sliding even further, bobbing her head up and down. she wrapped the rest of his dick with her hand, as Four lightly tugged her head causing her to gag.
“fuck, shit. ‘m going to cum, fuck” he whined. hearing this, Zero began to suck harder, working his shaft with determination
“‘m gonna cum, fuck” he told her as he grabbed her head still while hot ropes of cum shot out of his cock. the salty liquid slid down her throat, warming her insides as she pulled away. He stared at her in awe, seeing the difference between when they first hooked up and now. this time, they felt more connected rather than someone they tried to go out with once.
she laid down on her back as he settled in between her legs. wrapping his hand around his cock, he gave himself a few pumps before he slid himself in. stopping himself, a thought came to his mind
“are you on the pill?” he asked looking into her eyes with a soft look
“yeah, i am. i’m also clean as well’’
“me too, just wanted to make sure” she felt him press against her entrance before he slowly slid in. he placed his hands on the sides of her body, steadying himself as his cock disappeared into her heat
“fuck, you’re so tight. are you okay?” he asked stopping himself, and letting her adjust
all she could do was nod and let out small whimpers as she clenched around him. her eyes were closed shut, her chest rising and falling as he stretched her.
“i’m fine, just please keep moving” she told him
he started to pick up the pace slightly, the tip of his cock nudging the spot on the front of her wall. He hooked one of her legs around his waist before dropping down to press his lips against her neck. adding to the pleasure, he sucked and nipped at her sensitive skin. his thrusts began to pick up the pace, as Zero can feel the knot in her stomach almost unravel
“Touch yourself for me, I want to feel you cum around my cock” he whispered before leaning down to kiss her lips. She did what she was told and pressed her fingers against her clit. He slid his tongue against her lip, begging for an entrance to let him in. she opened her mouth and their tongue began to battle for dominance
their sweaty bodies continued to move against each other, the air was hot, heavy and filled with sex. his cock began to nudge her sweet spot as her fingers worked on her clit. neither one of them couldn’t hold back. She came undone, with a cry of his name escaping her lips, like the first time they had sex together. Waves of pleasure shot through her body, her thighs squeezing his Four’s and her walls around his cock. He came as well with a final thrust. His cum coating her walls, a warm sensation spreading across her lower half.
the two of them felt as if they were on cloud nine. Four pulled out of her, his eyes drifting down to where his cum pooled at her entrance, along with Zero. He got out of her bed and headed for the bathroom to get a rag to clean the mess they  made. She laid there thinking about how they would be able to keep everything a secret when they have eyes and ears on them at all times. When Four came back, he first cleaned her up, making sure that he didn’t hurt her after seeing some of the bruises he made on her before cleaning himself. He sat back down on the bed and began to put his clothes back on. Zero noticed what he was doing and got up to hug him from behind causing him to stop
“Stay” she whispered kissing the back of his shoulder before finishing
“He isn't going to be here for a bit and five and seven won’t notice that you’re gone.”
He looked at her thinking about it before deciding to stay, seeing that she was right about what she said. He turned his head around his shoulder and saw her biting her lip while smiling before he smiled and kissed her again
“Fine, but I’ll leave in the morning to make it look like I didn’t stay overnight because I know someone will snitch on us.” he told her while falling back on top of her kissing her laughing before she laid her head back onto his chest, listening to his steady heartbeat
“What are you thinking about?” he asked her while she played with his necklace
“Everything. Life before this. Life now. If we’re going to get caught” she shrugged
“We’re not going to get caught.” he assured her
“Yeah but seven and five already know I’m pretty sure from dinner and i don’t know if we can be sneaky enough-”
“Love, just don’t worry and stop overthinking. If you feel like he’s onto us, tell me and we can stop it if you want. I want you to be comfortable with everything we do.” he told her
“Go to sleep, you deserve it.” he finished kissing her head
“Goodnight four”
“G’night zero”
The next morning Zero woke up when she turned around and felt an empty space next to her. She saw a note that was stuck to the pillow that had his handwriting.
“Gone back, i’ll meet up with you for breakfast soon. + One called and left a message about the mission.”
All she could do was smile before getting out of bed and going to her monitors and seeing that that One, Two, and Three were going to start the mission in the afternoon as soon after the generals had arrived.
“One here.”
“Hey it’s Zero.”
“Well finally you wake up. Guess sleeping beauty didn’t have to have someone kiss her.”
“Cut the crap One. Anyways  you should know something. The deal, it’s done. The two tons of the sarin gas are being shipped out. They may also know something about where Murat is being held, it’s showing me Hong Kong at the Ni Hai Tower. These guys know how to cover their tracks, so threatening them is a possibility to get out exactly where he is.” she told him
“Yeah, I'm almost to where two and three are right now. Seems like they are threatening the guy. It looks like fucking scarface here. Oh this poor model, it could’ve been worse. Seeing that he would have finished.” he said as Zero rolled her eyes after hearing the silenced gunshot
“Seems like everything is done?”
“Yeah, thanks to coked up Borg and McEnroe. I really hate this town”
“Let me guess, you went as a biker. God that’s so stupid”
“It’s Navratilova, a woman tennis player. And I agree with Zero, motorcycle dick” three yelled causing zero to giggle.
“We’ll see you guys later. We leave tomorrow morning. How is Seven doing?”
“He’s doing alright. He’s gotten used to the place. I think he’s with the others I'm not sure.”
“Good. and remember what I said. Don’t get close with Four. Just because I’m not here, doesn’t mean you can go around sneaking off like a bunch of horny teenagers.” he told her before hanging up
With that, he hung up leaving a dial tone and zero shocked with anxiety setting in. She knew that he wouldn’t get that mad at her but he will with four and didn’t understand why he wanted to keep her safe and away as much as possible from him. She sat at her desk for a bit longer before getting up and changing for the day. She figured that Four would be skating since the weather isn’t that hot that day and that she hasn’t left her trailer yet.
Zero kept replaying One’s words over and over again in her head as she headed out to go see everyone. When she arrived, she saw them making breakfast for what looked like everyone instead of the four of them even though they won’t come back until the next day. Her eyes met Four’s and he smiled at her causing a light blush across her face as he then looked back to focusing on the food.
When they all sat down, it was quiet all across and the only sound that could be heard was forks and knives across plates with the occasional sipping of coffee. Four and Zero sat next to each and they would slip their hands under the table to hold them. Five and Seven saw the glances thrown between the two and knew that something must have happened but they didn’t want to tell them that they knew and would rather let them enjoy the short time they had together before One came back so they could continue their mission. None of them really had much to do but they were told to stand by and keep training, especially if they were going to go all the way to another country again but this time to save someone.
Four and Zero pretended like nothing happened when One came back but still managed to see each other in private and would usually wait until One fell asleep before they went to see each other. Zero had let go almost all of the anxiety and anxious thoughts of them being caught together every time they felt like they were going to be caught. Four felt the same way but he never showed it because he wanted to make sure that Zero didn't see another side of him that he wasn’t ready to show her yet just like he wasn’t fully ready to tell her about his past time from that one night.
Over the next few days, they have done nothing but go over how they were going to fix up a coup to get Rovach’s brother. Zero and Five were going to be in the lobby, Four was going to try and sneak in as One broke the windows with his inventions, Two and Three were going to be the ones taking out any guards and getting Murat, and Seven was apparently going to hang on a construction bridge to scope everything out and help them out and get them in under the radar.
The night before they left, they were told to pack a bag since they were going to leave first thing in the morning so they had time to get everything ready by the evening. Zero was packing everything she was going to wear while there as well as her equipment before she heard a knock on her door. As she opened her door, she was pushed back into her trailer with a smile when she realized who it was.
“I’ve missed you.” he told her hugging her
“You saw me an hour ago but i missed you too.” she told him, pulling back and looking into his green eyes. The two walked over to her bed and laid down facing each other as they just admired one another. They took in a moment to study their faces, as she studied his facial features, the way his scare blended into his eyebrow. It felt nice to just lay there in silence and just admire each other before she spoke up.
“Are you ready for tomorrow?”
“I’m a little scared, but i feel like with me with you i  know i’ll do good.” he admitted tracing her face with his fingers
“You got this. Which reminds me.” she said getting up and walking over to her desk and taking something out that he couldn’t identify as he sat up
“I’ve created a separate headset for us to talk in. You’ll have your regular one with everyone else and me, but this one, it’s just me.” she explains to him giving him the earpiece as he took it from her fingers.
He stared at it for a bit before giving her a hug. He didn’t know why he was feeling this but for some reason he knew that something bad was going to happen again. Zero hugged him back with a confused look on her face but accepted it and gave a small peck to the exposed part of his neck. The two went back to laying next to each other and held each other as if it was going to be the last time they were to ever see each other again.  They didn’t know how long they were going to keep it a secret before one figured out but they knew they were going to have to tell him as soon it was over. They were both disobeying his orders and wanted none of them to get involved but he knew he should know better. Zero knew some about his life until he cut it off. She wanted to yell at his face for what she knew but it would make everything much worse than it already was.
The following morning, she had felt Four move out of her arms so he could go back before One had started knocking on doors to wake everyone up for the plane ride. He gave her a kiss on the forehead before heading out back to his trailer to finish packing.
By late afternoon they had managed to get everything they had needed and walked to the jet. Seven was still unsure about his place in the team and why he wasn’t a six. It made sense for it to be a six since it went after five and they were in numerical order under him.
“Hey One! You ever plan on calling me Six?”
“Nope!” one yelled back as the team smiled.
“Hey, i know we don’t get to ask-”
“Then don’t” three interrupted him
“Anyways, who is One? Like who is he?” seven finished looking over to his team
“A rich guy who snapped” five said
“Yeah, but how did you meet him?”
“We didn’t. He met us. In really weird ways.” Four told him
“Perfect timing kind of weird.” two imputed
“Zero, c’mon. You're the computer girl. You must know who is and such” seven pleaded
“I do, but I'm not allowed to say. I knew him even before he faked his death” Zero told him looking over
“But did you tell your lover boy next to you?” he said smiling at the two of them
“Keep it down. And no. I didn’t tell him as much as I wanted to but he knows the rules and so do we.” Zero said grabbing Fours pinky and hooking it with hers
“Okay how did you all meet him just give me like a small gist at least.” he asked
“Fine, i was exposing some people, got caught, went to jail for a bit, he found me, faked my death in my cell before a hearing, and now i’m here.”
“Can’t believe i’m saying this. I worked for the CIA, captured Murat in Uzbekistan and had him delivered, reluctantly, Rovach. After that, he found me through some “intelligent contacts” which i’m guessing is just Zero.” two explained smiling over at her
“I used to be a hitman. Killed a little girl's dad right in front of her without me knowing. Still feel the guilt everyday.” three explained bowing his head down
“Went on a mission to get a very expensive necklace, didn't make it across the building, so my ex took the necklace out of my mouth where I was holding it and I dropped who knows how many stories into a random building before I woke up and found one almost killing me with a fake gun set up. Nearly wanted to kill him.” four explained before taking squeezing Zero’s hand to calm down as his jaw clenched. She remembered the day too as they fought, just not in full detail as she used to.
“I was conducting a surgery, and things started to escalate when they began to have a seizure. Felt like it was my fault when they died since they didn’t get the right amount of the anesthesia and almost quit right there on the job. When I went home, the next day, he was there and knew what had happened.”
“Jesus christ you guys had some fucked up lives. Never thought I’d meet a family more screwed up than mine.” seven said
“Hey, no. don’t say that. He hates the word “family”. I don’t know. I think he never had one, but our dear, sweet Zero won’t tell us if he did or not.”
“I’m just going to let you guys figure it out so one or more of you can win that bet you have going on” Zero said
“And if you’re ever left behind in a mission...he’s not going to come back for you.” Five imputed
“We deltas didn’t operate like that. Things are gonna have to change. I promise you that.” Seven finished
“Finally, I thought I was going to do this mission by myself and leave you all here.” One said sitting on the steps
“Seven, you’re going to be my co-pilot. Let’s go.”
The group rolled their eyes as they entered the jet and put their stuff above them in the departments. Before they reached the jet, four and zero had let go of their hands once One came into the view and decided to sit opposite of each other with Five on the couch, and Two and Three on the other set of chairs.
The ride to Hong Kong was quiet. Everyone was busy doing their own thing. Four and Zero talked for a while but whispered even though their relationship was something that was known to the people near them and continued to talk up until Four fell asleep. She noticed how his eyebrow will sometimes twitch and his face will scrunch up which was something she never noticed the first few times they had slept together. Three looked like he was about to die and whispered silent prayers, Two glanced up at him every now and then, and Five was reading one of her books that she brought along.
After almost 17 hours of flying, they woke up to Seven on the intercom telling them to buckle up since they were below radar. As they buckled up, Zero softly kicked Four’s food to wake him up, but when she noticed he was still sleeping, she got up and went over to him and gave him a kiss on the cheek which caused his eyes to flutter open.
“Hey, we need to buckle up. I guess we’re already here.”
“5 more minutes please.” he grumbled fixing his makeshift pillow that was his jacket he had on earlier
“Later. C’mon.” she asked again causing him to ignore her again.
 “How about after this mission, if we don’t die, I'll do something you’ll like.” she whispered into his ear causing him to open his eyes and go wide eyed and make his cheeks turn red causing her to giggle before she looked over and saw what looked like Three having a panic attack.
“You good there Three?” she asked him concerned
“Yeah. I usually looked at the stewardess to see if I should be scared.”
“Flight attendant” two corrected him with an annoyed look on her face
“You can look at me” she finished looking over to him
“Oh, darling, you could be on fire and you would have the same creepy blank expression on your face. No offense.” Three stated before finishing
“You what sucks? If we were to crash, no one would ever know or care. We would have no impact on anything. Like we never existed” three finished yelling the last sentence to One
“I mean, don’t the pilots get parachutes with them?” Zero asked
“Uh I can hear you and if you’re going to shit your pants, there’s a bathroom in the back. And Zero we do have parachutes but who knows maybe we’ll remember you maybe we won’t” One said over the intercom system.
When they arrived, they noticed it was still too early for them to actually do anything and had to blend in until it was time for the mission. They ended up walking around trying to find a place to eat before settling at one place. When they ordered, everyone became invested into Two and Three’s relationship as they started to mess around
“So, how long has this been going on?” Seven asked, going over to the table with his beer.
“Yeah, I've been wondering the same thing. Florence?” Five asked curiously looking over at Two as they stayed silent
“No, Vegas.” Seven smirked as they all agreed
“So, you guys know about us?” three asked as they all stared at him
“Well, we do now, dumbass” Five told him ask Two gave him an ‘are you kidding me” look
“Pretty much. but we’ve had our suspicions.” seven said
“Well, I guess it’s not against the rules, right?” Two asked before One answered
“It depends. So, are you guys fucking or making love?”
This caused Zero to start over thinking again about her and Four’s relationship and where it firmly stood. Was it just going to be something to help them pleasure themselves without a label or was it a true relationship? Four looked over and saw her freeze up and stopped eating to grab her hand under the table and looked over to her subtly and asked her if she was okay with just the look on his face. The most she could do was nod as he rubbed his thumb over her knuckles before they broke hands and went back to eating.
“What’s the difference?” Three asked him
“We’re fucking.” two said with a straight face as three looked heartbroken
“Good. Hey, who’s this honey badger?” one asked pointing to the guy who joined them
“Oh, I’m Raymond” he said
Zero didn’t hear the rest of the conversation and could only focus on messing with her noodles before she felt a sudden urge to go throw up and ran to the bathroom. Everyone watched as she ran before One finished talking to Raymond and Five and Two went over to where she was. She knew she wasn’t pregnant because they had still been safe the few times they’ve had sex, but she couldn’t think of another reason why she would throw up everything she’s had in the past 24 hours. When Two and Five entered, they found her sitting down next to the toilet, already sweat covering her face. Zero saw the two women and got up and walked over to the sink and began to wash her face. She knew what they were going to say and she shook her head as Five rubbed her back. Crouched over the sink for a couple more minutes, she took a few deep breaths before she was ready to head back out. The guys all looked over to Zero when she walked back and went to her spot next to Four. They looked over to the two other women who shrugged as if they didn’t know anything that was happening.
Nighttime came and everyone was ready for the mission. They all felt some sort of anxiety inside of them but pushed it away knowing that they weren’t going to mess up this time. Smoothing down her dress one more time, Zero left the room with Five as they were ready. She felt a little better from earlier that day, but Five still demanded a test when they were done. She felt like she was like an older sister to her, the one who made sure she was okay whether it be mentally or physically. They all had to take separate cars to get to the building while Seven, Four, and One went off to different locations near the area. Four nodded when Zero gave him asking if he had his earpiece that differed from the others.
As they entered the building, they noticed there weren't that many people in the lobby besides a few guards and a couple of businessmen. Five and Zero sat down far from each other so they didn’t raise any suspicion while Five began to read a magazine and Zero pretended to do work on her laptop so she could make sure they weren’t being caught on any cameras and diverged them.
“How’s it looking down there?” Zero mumbled
“Well seems quiet. Four looks afraid.”
“I’m not afraid.” four snapped back glaring at one
“Well good luck.”
“Saying good luck is bad luck”
“I take it back then”
“Taking it back is even worse luck.” Four told One as he started to get annoyed and told him to leave
“It’s time for you to go now if you want to make it.”
“Go, go, go, go, go. Good luck” One said at the same time as Zero
“Do you want me to die? wanker.”
“Did you kiss your mother with that mouth?” seven joked
Five looked up at Zero and she nodded
“It’s time.” she said as they heard the sound of an engine roaring meaning that Two and Three have arrived.
“This is great, One. it’s a little scary up here but it’s fine.” Seven said as One started to move the bridge
“Nah, this is the fun part. Don’t be a pussy Seven.” Four said
“Not all of us aren’t scared of heights.”
“Yeah, I got the gun, smartass. Remember that.” Seven joked as Five and Zero smiled
“One, you’re going to fast, you need to slow it down a bit.” Zero told him discreetly. She began to feel her anxiety set in as she started to tap her finger on her computer. Five looked up and saw what she was doing before getting worried again. Zero shook her and only gave her signal by showing the number four meaning she was worried for him. Five nodded and understood but still kept their eyes on her as they both put on their gas masks while Zero packed up and Five got up to go ready the gas.
“You know, laughter is life. Just kidding. I stole that from my old dentist’s office. Along with a shit ton of nitrous.” she said as Two and Three got ready
“One, laughing gas is working. Fuck.” Zero said as she saw a manager she thought, get to the phone and call the police before disconnecting the signals as Five went over to knock him out
“Zero, were cops called?!” She yelled to her
“Cops?” One asked
“I blocked all signals to avoid phone calls so they wouldn’t get through! They must’ve had an emergency that didn’t require one. We have 13 minutes. FUCK!” Zero yelled packing all of her stuff up
“Zip lines secured.”
“Zero, there’s movement everywhere. Four of them at the rooftop.” Seven said as Four tried to look for an escape plan
“Four i’m sorry but you’re going to have to go into the pool.” Zero said as she saw there wasn’t a way out until they all left. Four got in and slowly moved angles to make sure he wasn’t seen
“You got targets coming. Eye level” One told him as Four saw and went underwater. Zero was listening and she didn’t know whether or not how long he would be there as she switched to their walkies
“Four? Four? Can you hear me?” she asked nervously hoping he would respond soon until seven spoke up saying that he needed to be underwater for thirty seconds which made her worry more.  She knew he wasn’t going to be able to hold his breath long after he said he’s had trouble doing it underwater. Zero looked at her watch and saw that thirty seconds have passed so far and that he still hasn’t responded.
“Four freeze. He’s right above you.” One told him
“For fucks sake, One. He’s going to drown. Seven do something.” Zero said as she started to pace.
“Seven, don’t do anything. The mission will be compromised.”
“One, let me drop ‘em. This is what I do.” Seven told him back
“One, he has been under for 120 now. Four, go to the glass and Seven shoot the glass” Zero told him not caring about what One thought.
“Gotcha. Four, move right.” Seven said as he shot the glass and gave him some air to breathe as Zero calmed down as Three began to flirt with Two forgetting that they had mics
“It’s a little over the top, guys.” One said trying to get him to focus as they found out Three was on laughing gas.
At this point Zero and Five were in the car waiting for the rest of them to finish so they could get out and leave with Murat. Zero saw that Four was finally on the side of the building setting up some traps to get inside. She was going to talk to him privately before One interrupted her and began to ask him stupid questions.
“Is it fun up there? Doing all right?”
“Anyone ever asked you dumb questions when you’re 90 stories up?”
“No need to climb angry Tarzan.”
“Mate, you’re really ruining my flow right now, you know that?”
“Just get the high intensity speakers placed. Targets are all grouped in the kitchen.” Seven interrupted
“Have you guys ever… you ever been to an American movie theater? Between 1983 and 2015?” One asked all of them
“Almost every weekend with my family since I was a kid before this shit.” Zero said
“No need to be aggressive”
“No, I just pirate them on my phone.” Four answered
“That’s just an asshole move.” one told him. “Get ready to pull those triggers everyone”
As soon as he pressed the button, the familiar tone of the THX noise went blasting as Two and three started to shoot while Four went to go get Murat. So far everything was going smoothly and they hadn’t had any interruptions up until three decided to pick up another guys gun causing Seven to shoot him in the mask. Thankfully, it’s bulletproof.
“This is going great. Everything is just fine.” One said
“You guys have to get out quick. There are more guys headed towards you. Four, you need to go now, head to One. we have a minute left”
More and more guys continued to come towards them as they tried to leave making it harder for them to get Murat out of the building and across the other. All that was heard was gunshots and glass crashing before sirens were heard and police arrived. Five and Zero had managed to get out and pretend they were innocent as One started to scale another bridge commenting on the height.
“We’re out of time and you guys are fucking around up there?”
“We’re stuck in the stairwell, Zero, is there anyway down?”
“No. this place is already full of police. Your only other option is the zipline.”
“Guys. i have a bad idea.”
“What do you mean “bad idea”?” no, you’re supposed to have good ideas.” one told seven
“Like, a really bad idea. One, remember when i said some shit was going to go bad? This is that shit. You guys might want to grab onto something.” Seven told them shooting the pool caused it to spill into the penthouse and ruin everything and almost drowning the team while Zero and Five got a car for them to drive away in as they soon got down.
“Oh how I miss therapy. My therapist would’ve loved hearing a story like this.” Zero said as she looked around hoping to find someone on the team until she heard his voice
“Three bullets. That’s all i have”
“Four, come on. We’re moving.” One told him
“ Just go. I’m not going to make it. They cut the zip line.” he said as the color from Zero’s face drained causing her to speak up
“Four. you can get out i found-”
“No. it’s just bad luck. It happens.”
Everyone except for Four had made it to the elevator to get down and get into the car with Murat in the back and Three driving while four was trying his best to escape. Zero was looking for ways he could escape while talking to him and telling him where to go.
“Four, listen to me. Please don’t do this your way. I’m telling you a safer way.”
“Hey, it’s okay. I’m coming. What did I promise you? I promised you that we were in this together and i won’t let anything happen.” he said before getting cut off by a gunshot near him as she looked up to find hi running across the construction site as the rest of the team came
“What is this?” one asked
“Three blew the budget on the Ferrari. This is the best we could do.”
“Oh god. We are not having a good night.” One said as they all got in now waiting for Four.
 A few minutes passed with three driving until a guy landed on them and three running him over as police chased them and cornered him. Zero couldn’t focus as to the conversation that was happening and only focusing on him getting out alive. She looked out the window to see that there was no way out for Four as he hid to avoid the railings that were failing and almost killing them.
“I made it across. Southwest side. Where are you guys? NO!” they all heard in their coms until he yelled and got hit by the huge dude and fell out the window onto a panel
“Stop the car.” Seven said
“Don’t stop the car. We’re leaving him” one retorted back
“One. please. Three, stop the fucking car.” Zero exclaimed on the verge of tears knowing what was going to happen
“He’s on his own.”
“Stop the car.”
“Don’t stop the car.” everyone yelled at once until zero, one, and seven all put out a gun to point at three on whether on he should stop the car or not, which he did
“I’m sorry. She cocked it on me first.” Three told one as zero looked over at Seven
“I’m not doing this again. I’m going to see another person I love die as I sit and do nothing. Seven?” she said as he nodded and got out of the car
“He’s in the net up there.”
Seven set up his sniper against the car and began to aim. Zero started to pace back and forth again debating on whether she should contact him. One couldn’t believe what was happening. Even after their talk, she still went around and went with him. She knew she would have another talk, but she couldn’t see another person she loves die right in front of her eyes.
“Four, we’re coming to get you. You’re going to be fine. You’re going to be okay.” she said as four got caught up in the net as he started to get choked. She started to bite her nails as Seven shot the guy.
“Carvers.” was all he said.
“Cleavers.”  one finished
Four came down to where they all were and Zero jumped right at him giving him the tightest hug she could. All he could do was return the favor and put his face into her neck wanting to cry after thinking he was going to die.
The ride back was quiet. Four and Zero sat next to each other holding hands as she had her head on his shoulder and One glared at them through the mirror knowing that they broke his rules. He was also mad at Seven for doing what he did, but he understood that he couldn’t leave another man behind. No one didn’t even make a noise, unless it was Murat telling them it was a bad idea with what they just did.
When they got back to where they were staying, everyone went to their own rooms, except for Four and Zero, hoping that One didn’t see them. As soon as the door closed, Four fell to the floor and broke down. She sat next to him and began to hold him as he just cried and let go everything he has been holding since he almost died. She began to caress him, whispering in his ear that he was safe and he wasn’t going to get hurt anymore before taking his hand and holding it, kissing his tattooed knuckles. They stayed like that for a few more minutes until they decided they needed to sleep. As soon as his head hit the pillow, he was knocked out and Zero held him, assuring him that he was safe and couldn’t get hurt anymore as he became less tense.
It’s been a few days since six died and they had decided to go to the ocean to dump his body. one kept eyeing zero and noticed that she hadn't said anything in those few days. he knew exactly why she was acting the way and wanted to talk to her about her but knew she wasn’t going to listen.
now they were getting ready to go on a boat ready to toss his body over. zero thought it was inhumane but she knew what had to be done.
“i don’t like this” she said as they entered the boat
“well, neither do i but it has to be done mami” three told her as he and four brought six’s body that was in a bag onto the boat.
while they sailed out to the middle of the ocean, no one had said a word. Every now and then they would all take a look at zero who was furthest from six’s body and kept staring at it. The rest of the team, except one, wondered why she reacted most to his death and why she was the way she is. at one point, five had wanted to talk to her but figured it was best to leave her alone for a while. four would glance at her every few seconds and she would be stuck in the same position, sat down on the floor, knees to her chest, staring at his lifeless body.
“okay, we’re here” one said stopping the boat
Three had pulled out shot glasses as well as a bottle rum to give and send off a toast to him.
“Here’s a toast to a kid I liked.”
“Are you crying?” two asked as she noticed tears fall causing zero to look up
“We didn’t even know his name” he finished
“We don’t know any names.” two told him. This caused zero to roll her eyes seeing that she and one were the only ones who knew their names since he had her look them all up when finding them
“What was his name?”
“It doesn’t matter. He’s a good man” one said sitting down next to four
Zero had wanted to speak but she knew if she did, she would end up revealing everything and she didn’t want one to get mad
“Thought i managed the risk. i’m sorry” he finished
“Did he have a family?” five asked him. One looked over at zero and spoke before she could say anything
“I think you’re looking at it, all of us.” two said.
“Well she got something right” zero had thought before one had interrupted her thoughts
“We’re not a family. Not the cleavers”
“What?”
“The Cleavers. Ward, june? Leave it to Beaver? Jerry Matthews? Tony Dow, Barbra Billingsley, Hugh Beaumont? No? Nob-” one had said before zero spoke up for the first time since they’ve set sail
“No one watches your fucking show one!” she yelled before getting up and going to the front.
Everyone had watched her leave before four set his glass down and tried to walk over before one stopped him
“Don’t bother. She just needs to let it all out of her system. I’m sure she’ll come around to it” he told him “When? She's been at it for days now and I'm tired of it. I’m sorry but she needs to know that she’s isn’t the only one who has been affected by this ”
“Just stop. Now it’s time. Just grab the head”
Four gave up and did what he was told as the rest of them gathered around the body and each grabbed a part
“What does this mean?”
“It means we find a seven and i talk to zero” one answered fours question as they threw the body into the blue ocean
as soon as zero heard the splash, she knew it was over with and that six was gone forever. the team continued to stay on the boat a little longer and finished eating their food and drinking. well all of them except four. he couldn’t help but wonder as to why zero took it harder than him when he and six were almost like brothers. the night began to get darker before one decided it was time to head back out to their trailers. no one said a single word that night as they headed back to their trailers. zero went into her trailer before getting bored and decided she needed to ride around the site to clear her mind a bit. Four was in his trailer watching movies on his phone before he heard ruckus coming out from the window above him. he was confused as to what it was before grabbing his skateboard to go see what it was that was distracting him from relaxing.
when he got out, he saw zero riding her bike around with her music in what it seemed like to relax herself before he skated closer to her
“bit late to be riding a bike, especially with no lights in’nt” he yelled over to her causing her to almost fall over. He noticed what happened and went closer to her to help her
“What the fuck four?!” she yelled at him as he helped her get up but she just decided to sit down on the ground
“i’m sorry, didn’t mean for that to happen. why are you out here anyways? it’s late and dark out.” he asked sitting down next to her. She didn’t know what to do besides cross her legs and put her head on his shoulder
“don’t know. I guess it’s because of what’s happened the past few days and earlier today. didn’t feel that well mentally about everything.” she told him. Four kept quiet but understood what she was talking about and could see it. He let out a deep sigh and looked back out to their location before talking
“i understand. i don’t know if you heard me yell at one earlier about you, but i’m sorry about it. i haven’t been the best either and i try not to show but i guess there are times where i just burst out. if we’re being honest, i actually cried the night it happened.”
when he told her that, her head shot up. she didn’t think that he would be the type to cry, seeing that he always had this tough guy exterior like one and three. he turned to her and gave a small nod and sad smile. They both looked into each other's eyes before they slowly leaned in. as soon as their lips were about to touch, zero moved her head away. They both knew it was wrong. One of the first things one had told the group was no relationships or hookups. They were strictly off limits.
“um i’m sorry, we shouldn’t be doing this.” she told him getting up and grabbing her bike before getting on and heading back to her trailer
“No, i’m sorry. i-it’s my fault. Um goodnight.”
“Goodnight.”
as they both turned around to head back, four stopped and turned back around and calling out her name
“Zero!”
“What!?”
“Come over to mine, we can watch a movie together”
Zero stood there for a bit debating on whether or not she should go. one hand, she gets to probably get to know more about him than she already knew but on the other hand if she had ended up falling asleep and one found them together, god knows what would happen. She understood why he didn't want them fraternizing with each other or other people while on missions, but she also did understand in case it’ll make them uncomfortable. if they had anymore after the shit show in italy. they walked back to four’s trailer and for her shocking it was surprisingly neat.
“Thinking about how clean it is huh?” he asked as he let her in
zero was speechless and could only nod. Of all the guys she has either dated or hooked up with, they have had messy rooms and had most of her hookups at her place but four wasn’t like them. she went over and sat on his bed as he began to set his phone up and connect it to what seemed like a projector
“you don’t have a dvd player or a tv?” she asked him
“Nah, been pirating movies for a few years now. Saves money”
“Huh, wondered why i never thought of doing that, sure as hell would’ve saved me a lot of money.”
“I take it you’re a big movie fan then?”
“Mmhm, before i “died”, every other weekend my brother and I would go to our parents house and we would go the the theaters and spend the rest of the day with each other” “do you miss them? Your family?” he asked
“Everyday. I felt like it was a selfish choice to leave them behind. You know? Like i didn’t think about it that much and not even hours later after one asked me i just said yes. Watching my own family having to bury an empty coffin hurt in more ways imaginable.” she told him not even paying attention to what was playing, just staring off into space before finishing
“What about you? Have you always been interested in the parkour thing?”
“Yeah. feels like i’m free when i do it. Before all of this, I had a group and we used to steal pretty much anything that cost something only millionaires could afford. We were looking for a necklace once, the kalahari, in ukraine. Well I found it and as soon as we fled the police. We jumped from one building to another by using ropes and cables but as soon as i grabbed on and swung, it snapped.” four tells her before letting out a deep breath. Zero could see where the story was going
“You don’t have to finish if you don’t feel comfortable. I don’t want you to relive something that you didn’t mean to happen.” zero told him grabbing his hand
Four felt a sense of relief. He felt fine but sometimes opening up to people was hard for him, and telling someone how he “died”, even if she was like family to him, made him feel uneasy at the moment. All he could do was nod and turned his head and look into her eyes, as she went back to focusing on the movie. They both did feel something for each other but they had to remember the rules that were set for them once they joined the team. If they got caught they wouldn’t know what to do because it would make everything more awkward than it already were. They continued to watch the movie until zero fell asleep in four’s arms. When he looked down to see asleep, he carefully moved her so she was on his bed and put the blanket over her so she would be comfortable before going over to the couch until he heard her voice
“Four?”
“Yeah? I’m still here” he told her
“Can you stay with me? I don’t feel-”
“Yeah, yeah, of course” he told her as he got up from the couch and walked back over to his bed and went in. as he laid on his bed, zero wrapped her arms around him and snuggled closer to him while her ear sat where his heart would be. he tried to stay calm and keep a steady heartbeat but he couldn’t until she grabbed his hand and held it.
“goodnight four.”
“g’night zero”
though four couldn’t sleep, he couldn’t help but look at her and notice the features of her face. he truly wanted to kiss when they were outside together an hour earlier but she didn’t and he understood why she didn’t want to. he then spent the next hour staring at the ceiling before falling asleep holding the girl he loved. she was there when they met and thought she was the most beautiful person in the room.
Although he almost “died”, he at least was willing to die after meeting her even if they didn’t know each other’s name. He also remembers her yelling at one for the way he was deciding to recruit him and how he actually could’ve died. The first time they actually did talk was a little after they went back to the base. Zero was meant to take care of his injuries that he had gotten from falling about 5 stories down. Turning so he wasn’t on his back anymore, he pulled her closer into his chest and let out a deep sigh before closing his eyes and letting sleep take over his body. I
n his trailer, one saw everything go down between them and began to worry as to what is going to happen and if he was going to talk to them about what’s happening. He knew they liked each other, since the start and always saw the side glances they gave to each other and the way they had conversations. One just didn’t want them being in a relationship ruin everything for the team and what they have become.
After the fight, no one knew what to do. They all just stared at One hoping he was going to do something since he’s the one who warned them. As she was in the room crying, Billy was out smoking, not wanting to face anyone after what happened, especially One. Speaking of One, he was outside with his head in his hands, upset over what happened and how he knew it was bound to happen. Everyone was staring at him, waiting to go do something about it and he just sighed and got up to go see Y/N.
He stood outside her room before knocking on the door and waiting for her to open it. After standing there for a few minutes, One walked in seeing that it wasn’t going to be opening anytime soon. He saw her figure laying down, her back facing him and towards the wall. Letting out a deep sigh, he went and sat down on the corner of the bed. Y/N knew it was One that entered her room and sat down; she knew that all too familiar sigh that he always does.
“Um, listen. I didn’t want to say I told you so, but I told you so. God, that sounded so rude and I’m not good at this sentimental crap but you’re like a little sister to me and after seeing what Four said, I never wanted to punch him more. I know that sounds wrong but he pretty much deserves it for hurting you. This is why I didn’t want things like this to happen. Now I don’t know if your feelings are going to get in the way of the mission, which I know they aren’t so don’t kill me. I want everyone to work as a team and not let their feelings get in the way anymore.” he told her looking around her room hoping it’ll help him think of something
“What i’m trying to say is, I know how much he meant to you and you to him but you can’t let one thing determine how it’s going to be for the rest of your life. I’m going to be talking to Four as well about what happened. In the meantime, I want you to think everything over. I’m also going to need you to come with us on the boat when everything goes down. You’re going to be in the field this time instead of behind the computer. Not sure if you hear this but i’ll tell you once again before it happens. I hate to be that asshole, but you need to put your emotions aside and continue on even if you’re allowed to be sad.  Love you kid. If you tell anyone I said that I’ll tell the team that when you were 18, you threw up when your first boyfriend told you he loved you after a month of dating.” he said putting his hand on her shoulder and patting it softly before leaving. She heard everything he said and he was right as much as she didn’t want to admit it. She couldn’t let one thing be in the way of saving what could be the world just because she was mad at a boy. When she heard the door close and click, she got up from where she was laying and took a look around the room. Y/N noticed she saw Billy’s bag and remembered that since they were together they would share the room and a bed, but now she wasn’t sure if she wanted to even be in the same room as him. She got out of the bed and went into the bathroom to clean herself up but at soon as she saw herself in the mirror, all she saw was her red, blotchy eyes, with mascara dripping her face, and dried tears. She hasn’t seen this look since she got dumped in her first real relationship a few years before that wasn’t the guy she threw up on. Letting out a deep shaky sigh, she began to clean herself up before going outside for a much needed walk.
The weather was nice when Y/N went outside. It wasn’t too hot but it wasn’t too cold. Everyone had gone to sleep but she wasn’t sure as to where Billy was but the thought of seeing him at the moment made her heart hurt. She wasn’t even sure if she also wanted to see Amelia at the moment too because it involved her too, but she couldn’t do that to her. What Y/N didn’t know was that Billy was watching her from the window in Blaine’s room as she sat on the porch and looked up at the sky before One knocked on the door and Blaine opened it.
“Hey, we need to talk. Like right now. I’ll be in the living room.” he said before walking out as Blaine looked between the two men distracted from his book and billy letting out a sigh.
“Yeah, you’re screwed. Sorry.”
“I know. Thanks for letting me stay here tonight. I feel like she doesn’t want to see me.” he said as he walked over to the door before leaving
“No problem man. Good luck. And don’t worry, it’ll all pass and you guys will both be back together soon.” he said patting his back before heading to the bathroom
“I hope so.” billy whispered, looking down at his hands and letting out a sigh before getting up and walking out of the room to go see One
One was pacing back and forth trying to think of ways to make sure that Billy and Y/N were able to get along while they finished the mission without them clashing or getting mad. Billy took a deep breath before walking in and going over to the couch and sitting down, ready to get yelled at for what happened. One noticed and stopped pacing, trying to find the right words to say to him without getting mad at him and not yell without waking anyone up from his own stupidness. Billy was just staring at his hands getting ready to be yelled and scolded at like how his mother used to when he was a teenager for getting ditching school and not focusing in school.
“Okay. I’m not going to yell because I know almost everyone is asleep and it’ll draw attention surrounding us, so i’m going to say this in the most calming tone ever. You are an idiot. The biggest idiot i have ever met. This is why I didn't want anyone on this team dating or hooking up. Things like that happen and others start to develop feelings. I know it’s natural but you literally just hurt her heart after she trusted you with it. She has been through a lot since the beginning of this mission and I'm pretty sure you already know by now that Six was her brother. I don’t know how much more heartache she can handle, but i do know that I don’t know what she’s going to do after this mission. I don’t know if she’s going to stick around and stay on the team when a new case comes up or if she’s going to create a new identity and leave because I know she can do that, but all I know is, she is like a little sister to me and I take family seriously. I know that may come as a shock to you and all since I refuse to talk about it and even admit it and all but I do take it seriously. I don’t care if you guys get back together or whatever, but I need to make sure that the team finishes this and that no one here is on bad terms because it’s going to my ass on the line then. Now, we don’t have long before all of this shit goes down. Get some sleep, it’s going to be a busy day tomorrow.” One explained to Billy as he then left the room
Letting out a deep sigh and putting his head in his hands, Billy sat there for a few moments before wiping away his tears and getting up to head back to Blaine's room. On the way back, he stopped in front of what originally was his and Y/N’s room and stood there before carefully walking in making sure to not wake her up just in case she had gone back into bed. He walked over to her and watched as her chest slowly rose and fell indicating that she had fallen fast asleep. When he took a look at her face, it stung him in the chest to see the dried tears and blotchy eyes knowing it was all his fault she was like that and that she had to cry herself to sleep. He took a seat on the floor and brought his legs to his chest as he held them together with his arms. He began to think about all the things they used to do when they first joined the group and how he always felt comfort in that he got to let the truth about him shine as they talked to each other. Billy never liked talking about his feelings, especially to his girlfriends, but with Y/N it was different for him. He always felt a sense of relief whenever he talked to her, even when it was hard for him to put how he was feeling into words. She just always knew how he felt. He remembers when they first met. It was when One was recruiting him and she was hiding in the corner watching the two of them as he yelled and One was talking to him asking if he was afraid. If Billy was being honest, he was terrified because he didn’t know what was fully happening other than he got kidnapped. He wasn’t sure if wanted to become a ghost at first, but then he saw the benefits of becoming a ghost and went through it.
He went over to the bed and grabbed his bag, rummaging through to look for his cigarettes. He knew he should kick the habit soon, especially after making a promise to Y/N that he would, knowing that she didn’t want anything serious happening to him from them. Something else he knew was that in less than 12 hours they were going to have to finish the biggest mission of their lives. He couldn’t help but think about what they were going to do afterwards. Before their fight, he wanted to go climb a mountain and she wanted to go explore his hometown and get to know him better  but they knew that wasn’t a possibility so New Zealand was her second option. He stood outside for a few more minutes after finishing his cigarette before stopping it out and going back into the room. He didn’t want to leave Y/N. He didn’t know how long he stood there thinking before realizing he should get up and leave the room before someone came in and had to force him out and go back to Blaine’s. He took one more look at her and brushed the hair out of her face before placing a kiss on her forehead and left the room.
When he entered the room, there was a couch that was set up for him and he walked over to it and set his stuff down. Blaine could tell by the look on his face that he didn’t want to be there and would rather be with Y/N, but they knew it wouldn’t be a possibility any time soon.
“Dude, you’ve got to go to sleep. Rest your brain. I can tell you’ve been thinking a lot recently and it’s not the good kind of thinking too.” Blaine told him
“I’m not thinking.”
“Then what are you doing? Moping? Pretending like you weren’t just in a fight or whatever that was and that the love of your life hates your guts right now?” Billy didn’t say anything and just ignored him and got ready for bed. He was right though. She did hate his guts but she also still loved him.
“I’m just-I’m just worried about tomorrow. What if I-” “Tell me the truth right now.”
“Fine! I am thinking about her! I’m thinking about how I pretty much ruined the one time I found love and that someone loves me back for who I am as a person. I’ve been cheated, backstabbed, and now I can't even talk to her without her wanting to kill me.” billy yelled out all in one breath before falling onto the couch running his hands through his hair
“There it is. There’s that feeling you’ve been holding in.” Blaine told him before continuing
“Listen man. Relationships are going to come and go except for this one because we’re “dead” but I’ve seen the way you both look at each other. That’s real love right there. I don’t think I’ve looked at anyone like that before.” “Okay what’s your point here? You’re not exactly helping me out here.” billy told him getting slightly annoyed
“My point is, the two of you can’t be separated. No matter what. I know I haven’t been in this team since the beginning but I can tell that you and Y/N always had to be somewhat together or just talking to each other over the comms.” Blaine told him as billy looked down into his hands
“Is it true that you both had different comms so you can talk to each other separately?”
“Yeah”
“And what would she always tell you?”
Billy sat there quietly. He didn’t say anything to Blaine because he knew that he was right about everything he’s said so far. Him and Y/N were always together in some way. They were each other’s anchors and kept the other grounded at times.
“She would calm me down. Tell me things to keep me distracted.” “Did she do it when you were underwater?”
“Yeah” he answered, voice barely a whisper
Blaine didn’t have to tell him anything for him to understand where he was going with. Billy knew that he had to get her back but the same went with Y/N as well. They both knew they had to apologize to each other and not just billy to her. Y/N also needed to apologize to Amelia for the way she had reacted towards her. It wasn’t like her at all to act like that but something took over her mind and words just started to come out of her mouth that she wasn’t thinking.
“She loves you and you love her. Maybe after this mission or hell even during it everything will come back together. I don’t like seeing anyone this upset. Let alone two people I've become friends with. Now rest up, we got a long day ahead of us tomorrow.”
Billy nodded and fixed himself on the couch and got under the makeshift covers of his “bed” and couldn’t help but think about what Blaine was telling him. He did love her and he made sure to show it whenever he got the chance to do so and he betrayed her trust so she had every right to be upset at him. His eyes began to slowly close and drown out all the thoughts that were running through his head about what was going to happen the next day and where his relationship with Y/N stood.
also this isn’t edited btw
The next few days were a blur for everyone. Seven has officially met everyone but questioned as to why there were only six of them instead of eight and why they skipped six. Zero did the part and explained it to him despite One wanting her not to tell him and everyone could still see that she was grieving. One gave Four a talk about him and Zero and he felt more guilt than he could imagine. He didn’t know that One had practically forced her to say that they were only friends but even then she still wouldn’t talk to him. Not after the way he treated her. It was his turn with Seven to talk about what they do and talk about One. They were sitting in another trailer that wasn’t really occupied that he used to watch his shows that were filled with dvds with Wally the dog and the Beaver show One loved so much playing in the background. Four was sitting in a chair throwing random cds after seeing what they were as Seven asked him a question.
“Hey, what do you know about One?”
“Well, for starters, he loves Wally the dog. He’s obsessed with this beaver show. I think he’s an orphan now that I come to it actually. We got a little bet on it if you want to put some money in. He really got rid of every evidence about his existence that even Zero can’t find, but I think she knows.” he told him
“This is an interesting crew you got here, bro. How many missions have you guys run?”  he asked
“Counting Florence? Uh, one.”
“One what?” Seven asked eyeing him confused
“Actually, no, there was, um this, like, mini-mission, so maybe one and a quarter. It was in Sicily. But Florence? Absolute shitshow. I mean, if I wasn’t there, probably more than one of us dead. That’s all I’m saying” four said turning to face him
“Are you fucking kidding me?”
“I don’t fuck around”
“You realize I just buried myself in front of my family and friends?” “Yeah, One told me about that. Big military funeral. Guns popping, flags. It was pretty cool. At my funeral, there were only five people there and two of them left before the end. It is tough watching your mum cry at your grave. I feel like mine is still cursing at my grave for it. Love that woman, I do miss her, but you get over it. Anyways, this mission. I got a good feeling. I got a really good feeling about this mission.” Four said with a proud smile
“Yeah. how come you can’t find this guy?” Seven asked looking at a picture of Rovach’s brother
“I don’t know. Zero can usually find anyone but she’s been off since the last mission and isn’t in the right headspace for it. I tried telling her to take a break but she isn’t listening. To me or the advice. The only thing she said was that Americans caught him a few years back.”
“Americans?”
“I don’t know. Maybe Zero has something to do with it? Maybe Two as well, she has some sort of training that seems like it would tie into it.  Not sure but that’s all she said and won’t tell me anything else without One’s permission.” Four told him as seven went and sat next to him
“What’s going on between the two of you? Are you guys dating? Did you date in the past? What is it?”
Four didn’t know how to answer the question because he still wasn’t over his feelings for her and neither was she but the two couldn’t be together and she wasn’t listening or talking to him. He sat there quietly as he tried to figure out something to say.
“Well, there isn’t anything going on between us because One has this rule that none of us can hook up and if we do, it basically has to be if we are undercover, with someone else,  and it’s the last thing we need to do.” “But what about two and three? They seem like they’re hooking up.”
“Yeah I don’t know why he’s all up in our business when he should be paying attention to them but I think it has to do with the fact that we almost kissed and I guess he saw us. Which is really creepy if you think about it now. Also, maybe because he sees her as a little sister and he doesn’t want to get hurt again.” he said before finishing what he was talking about Rovach’s brother
“Back to what I was saying. The Americans caught him years back and gave him to his brother. The bald looking fella. You like him though, One?
“I mean, I guess I didn't really get to know him that much and we mainly talked about me. Feel like he was an asshole when he was younger.” Seven told him
 “Yeah he's definitely an asshole, but a likable asshole, no?”
“No.”
“Well, out of all of us, probably likes you the most.” four said
“What about Zero? She seems to be on his good side and close to him”
“Yeah she was the first one recruited and knows most of her past. Thinks of her like a little sister. They’re like twins but not twins. They’re both good at hiding their trails and finding people and all that. From what I’ve heard they actually had a run with each other when she used his tech to find out all this stuff on American politicians that almost got her arrested before all of this. They both realized how helpful this stuff is since the government doesn't help anyone.”
 One knew all about her past and he wondered if that was why he didn’t want someone like her to be with someone like Four but he didn’t tell either one of them that to make sure there wasn’t going to be drama between them.
“So you guys aren’t together? Even going behind his back and trying to secretly date?”
“No it’s too risky mate, and plus she said she only sees me as a brother and a friend”
“Damn. I haven't even known you guys a whole week and I think the two of you would’ve actually been good together.”
As they continued to talk, Zero walked past them and overheard the last of their conversation and how Seven liked her and Four together. It made her a little red until she remembered what One said and she continued to walk to where she was going.
They haven’t done much besides try and figure out where the four generals were and figure out a plan as to who was going to get the information out of them. Deciding it should be Three and Two since they have the most training and are more qualified for it they got everything ready. Four and Zero have started to talk again and are slowly reforming the friendship they had before. He tried to make it look like he wasn’t hurt by the fact that the first person he liked didn’t like him back and that he wasn’t threatened about dating her.
The day of the mission had everyone feeling nervous. Even though they had gone over everything they still felt like something was bound to go wrong like what happened in Florence. They had packed up everything they were going to need while in  Las Vegas after finding out who is in charge of handing off Rovach’s brother. After gathering in their “Batcave”, Zero started to list off everything that was going to happen when they get there and how they all needed to be careful
“Listen, there are pretty much cameras covering every single inch of Las Vegas. You have to be careful about what or who you decide to go as or else they’ll have your face plastered on the news within the minute. Rovach set the four generals up in the penthouse and there’s going to a party, so be careful of who you injure.” zero told them
“Don’t worry, I used to be a hitman. I got this.” Three told her as he started packing everything
“Didn’t you almost shoot Four before Florence?” Five asked smirking remembering the memory
“Nearly took my ear out. Couldn’t hear anything out of the left ear for almost a week” Four grumbled
“I paid you back with the spaghetti carbonara and the many beers.”
The rest of the group couldn’t help but smile and laugh while One let out a sigh at the group he had created and how they were acting like children.
“This means that you can’t fuck up and you have to choose wisely. Even though she’s going to be staying, Zero is going to keep an eye on all three of us at all times and stay in communication with us. Who knows what they’re going to do while they're there.”
“Please I’m a grown man. I can handle my shit. I know what i’m going to be though”
“Don’t think that’s how the expression goes. Don’t handle you shit, flush it down the toilet like a grown ass man. You have to disappear. One more thing, just because all three of us are going to be doesn’t mean any of you can do shit.” One said mainly aiming at Zero and Four as their eyes darted each other for a split second
Now, we’re done. Leave and get ready.” He finished
The rest of the night was just them getting everything prepared as Zero made sure every form of communication was connected to each other was hooked up with one another and her computers. The group disbanded and went their separate ways back to their trailers before Four stopped in his tracks wanting to talk to Zero. He waited until everyone had left the room before he talked to her. Why he wanted to talk to her was so he can make amends but he didn’t know if she would talk to him or even want to be alone with him so he decided he wasn’t going to do anything and left her alone. Before he left, he took one last look at her and the way she was focused on getting everything set up. Yeah, he knew people as quick and smart as her, but he never has met anyone who was just as kind as her and would rather deal with other people’s problems rather than take on her own. She has been like that since she was a child, always had this maternal instinct to make sure everyone’s needs were put first. Maybe that was why she was so reserved and didn’t talk much of her own life that night and she made sure he didn’t feel uncomfortable when talking about his past life. Rather than hanging out with the crowds and going to parties throughout high school and college all the time, she would focus on her studies, only going every now and then.
Gathering up her stuff and the papers she had, but stopped as soon as she saw Four turn around and she didn’t stop him in time as he skated off back to his trailer. She let out a sigh and walked back to hers. It took her awhile to get adjusted to her new life and she still wasn’t used to how they lived. They had everything they could’ve asked for, yet it still didn’t feel like home for her no matter how many things she had with her from her past life. Turning on her music and getting ready for a bath to relax, she heard a knock on the door interrupting her quiet time. Setting everything down on the sink, she went back to the front. Opening the door she saw Four standing there with his hood up and hands in his pockets waiting.
“Hey”
“Hi”
The two stood there awkwardly for a few seconds before she remembered to invite him in instead of standing outside.
“I’m sorry, please come in.” she gestured moving out of the way letting Four step in. He looked around her place and noticed everything she talked about with him about herself and from what he saw that one time looked like everything she’d described. Vinyls were neatly stacked, fairy lights were hung all across, monitors that covered one corner of the room, and pictures of family and friends everywhere. He thought it felt right for her and more her style. The two of them walked over to her bed and sat down in quiet for what felt like forever before Four spoke up.
“I’m sorry.”
“For what? You didn’t do anything wro-” she tried to tell him before getting interrupted by him
“Yes I did. I treated you like shit even by not talking to you and just overall being me” he said
“But you didn’t do anything wrong. If anything, it’s my fault I'm the one who had to hide away their true feelings and then forced to say something I didn’t want to say.”
“Zero please, cut the b-” Four started to say before he felt lips on top of his.
At first, he was shocked until he loosened up and kissed her back. Their lips began to move together in sync as his hands moved to cup her face as hers snaked around his neck.
The next morning zero woke up somewhere else that wasn’t her trailer with someone’s arm on her until she saw the tattoos on the knuckles and turned around to four’s laying on his back, soft snores coming out of him. She tried to slowly get out of his bed before he woke up and go back to her trailer before anyone woke up and noticed that she wasn’t there. She sat on the edge of the bed for a bit before and looked around his trailer taking a good look at it. There were things that she didn’t notice before when she came into his trailer the night before. She noticed how neatly everything was placed and if you moved it, he would notice it immediately. She saw how neatly his skateboards were hanging up next to each other, a map hanging with pins stuck on them - most likely places he’s been to, Florence, Italy now added into the mix. Four started to stir in his sleep and slowly open his eyes and find zero looking more into his room.
“Morning” he groaned, his voice still croaky. Zero turned around to find him slowly sitting up and rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. The last she saw him she remembered him wearing his sweatshirt and now he was shirtless, which caused her to blush
“Morning. Sorry if i bothered you, i hope i didn’t do anything embar-” she began to explain fully turning around to see him
“No, no you didn’t bother me at all. In fact, you looked really peaceful when you slept.”
“Are you telling me you stared at me when I slept? Like a creep?” zero joked smiling before continuing
“Don’t worry, i’m messing with you” she finished before a knock, more like a pounding came onto four’s trailer door and a voice
“ZERO?! I KNOW YOU’RE IN THERE! WE NEED TO TALK!” one’s voice came booming through the door. As the two young adults heard his voice, they panicked and quickly tried to get everything together which wasn’t much before one came inside. Four fell off his bed looking back for his sweatshirt while zero was trying to put her shoes back on. As she started to put the second shoe on, one barged in to see them on the bed and four pulling down his sweatshirt. He knew nothing happened between them but he just loved messing with his team sometimes.
Four and zero were quick to start talking trying to explain themselves and fumbled all over their words as one stared at them trying his hardest not to burst out laughing. After a while, being entertained, he put his hand up to signal them to shut up.
“I know you guys didn’t do anything, but I do know that you almost kissed last night. Zero, we need to talk. Now. four, do whatever you gymnastics, spider-monkey do anyways.” he told him
Zero and One left the trailer and went over to where they would usually have their group meetings to talk about the new member and most likely what happened with Four. When they entered, Zero went over to where her desk was with all her computers while One took out a file that he had on the new recruit. He sat down next to her and began to talk to her about him but decided to talk about something more important to them rather than get right into work.
“So, I saw the two of you last night. And before you stop me from saying anything I just want to tell you that this isn’t a good idea. Not for you and not for him. We’re all dead which also means that it’s going to be risky and I can’t allow it. I know you like him and that you almost kissed last night.”
“We didn’t-, i don’t-” Zero tried to explain
“I’m saying this in the nicest way possible, but cut the crap. The whole flirting thing between the two of you, especially back in Florence. It has to go.” “What about camille and javier?” she said using their names knowing it’s going to piss him off even more
“Those aren’t their names and I’m going to talk to them. Assholes think that they can get away with it.” he said before continuing
“Listen, zero. I think of you like a little sister. I promised myself after with what happened with Six, I’ll take care of you and so far, no offense but you’ve gotten even worse since that mission. I don’t want to see you struggle anymore and I think a relationship, especially if you’re dead-”
“Not exactly dead”
“You know what I mean, a relationship isn’t what you need right now. Hookups with random ass people that could help on missions, maybe, but someone on the team? No. Listen, you know the things Four has done, and just because he’s on the team doesn’t mean that it’s an open invitation to flirt and get your chance with him” he finished. Zero couldn’t even look at him in the eyes as she felt her eyes tear up but she quickly turned away before blinking them away and swallowing the lump in her throat
“Fine. My little “crush” on him is gone and I won’t talk to him unless it’s for a mission. What’s this guy's name?” she asked him as she turned on her monitors letting go of everything
One could see the sadness in her eyes as they finished talking about the situation and felt just the tiniest bit of guilt but he knew what he had to do was right. They spent a couple more hours figuring out how they were going to contact the guy, Blaine, and how they were going to recruit them because One didn’t exactly have the best ways with meeting some of them and he wasn’t going to try and screw it up this time. Zero didn’t go with him because she needed time to herself after their talk. Arriving back at her trailer, she changed out of the current clothing she had on to something more nice, but still comfortable knowing that a team dinner was going to happen as soon as One came back and explained things to the new guy. The team always ate breakfast together in the mornings and tried to learn more things about each other while giving each other some banter. She joined three with cooking the food while two and five set up the table. She noticed he wasn’t with them and when he usually was which means he was mad at her even though they haven't talked since one caught them in his trailer a couple hours before.
“So, Zero, what’s going on with you and parkour boy?” three asked as he placed the food in a separate container
“What do you mean? Nothing is going between us. We’re just friends. Nothing more.”
“Really? Because the way you two were flirting and the things said before and during the mission in Italy say otherwise” five said now placing a pitcher of orange juice on the table
“That isn’t flirting. We were just having a conversation and I was just offering to help him in geography” zero shrugged
“So did you help him in geography last night in his trailer?” two said winking at her
“We just watched a-wait how did you know we went to his trailer last night?”
“We saw you walking out with One this morning” three shrugged
“Well nothing happened. We just watched a movie and went to sleep and in the morning One wanted to talk to me about the new recruit who we’ll meet later tonight.”
“So nothing is going on?”
“No I don’t like four and we are just friends” zero told them as soon as four walked into the dining area causing everyone to turn their heads to hi as he walked right back.
At that moment, she wished she just kept her mouth shut and just ignored what they were talking about. The others felt the same because they felt that they were who pushed her to say and saw the hurt on their faces. Zero got up from her chair and left the room to go follow Four and talk to him about what happened but she couldn’t find him. At first she had thought to check his place but he wasn’t in there when she opened it until she heard the sounds of his skateboard wheels against the makeshift ramp that they had in the area which was just an empty pool. It wasn’t too far from them and she ran until she saw him fall. As Four got up he picked up his skateboard and threw it on the ground before he saw her. When he started to walk back up to continue, he bowed his head down and she saw his jaw clenched as he had a displeased look on his face
“Four, please that’s not what I meant. I know we never talked about it but we can’t. You heard One as soon as you joined, we can’t have relationships and such. I’m sorry.”
“That’s what they all say” he said as he brushed her shoulder leaving to go back to his trailer
The two of them didn’t talk to each other or even give small glances to each other and it made everything more awkward. No one said anything and all that could be heard was the clinking of forks and knives hitting against the plates with the occasional slurp from their drinks. The day went on as they left the table and went on to do their own things before one came back with their new number seven. Four felt like shit for ignoring Zero since breakfast every time she tried to talk to him but he couldn’t help but feel that way after hearing someone he likes say that they’re only friends. It felt like he had just been punched in the gut multiple times and felt like he fell down five stories again. Zero, she felt the same as well for yelling it out loud instead of ignoring the situation. The two tried to avoid each other until dinner when One came back but it couldn’t be possible. He suspected that something was wrong seeing that Four and Zero were quieter than usual at their meeting.
“Well this is our haunted house. It’s like the Batcave but it isn’t the Batcave or anything like it. Seven, you’re dead. Here’s a tray to put every single one of your identifications in. From now on, if we need new identities, they will be fake and you will be going by your number” One explained before Four cut him off
“Which i don’t see the fucking point of.” he mumbled
“Hey i heard that and what’s got your panties in a twist? Was the ramp not smoothed down enough? Anyways, you’re going to be restricted to cities that you’ve never visited before. People that you’ve never met. Well, all of course your fellow ghosts. None of whom you’ll know by name, only number as said before, for safety. And so no one gets too close.” he finished looking at Four and Zero at the last part as they looked at each other
“So all of you have gone through this same process? You just casually die and never see your family again?” seven asked looking at everyone as if they were crazy for doing something like that
“Pretty much, but you get used to it.”  Zero told him giving him a small, warm smile as One gestured to him to follow
“This is our target hit board. Those nine men have been placing too much shit inside the box
and Zero, has been keeping tabs on them since before this started. Target number one, this fucking prick; first mission. The dictator of Turgistan, Rovach Alimov.” he said ripping off the paper to reveal the picture. The rest of the team sort of shadowed the new guy as One showed him all around and telling them what they each do and what information they have gotten so far. Four avoided Zero whenever she tried getting closer to him so they could talk. She had felt this guilt inside her and felt that he hated her and she didn’t blame him for it. The day soon went on as they went to the diner near where they were to have dinner. It was rare whenever they went out to eat since the group began but since there was a new guy they decided to go with it. Now they were all sitting in a booth eating as Seven was asking them questions.
“Listen, when you’re dead, you get to stop all the bullshit. No more DMV lines, no more shopping for Christmas.” Three stated before Four interrupted
“Or backstabbing girlfriends. Sometimes it doesn’t even have to be girlfriends even when you’re alive.” he said looking at Zero as she raised her head and looked at him
“They should make an “Out of Office” reply for dead people. “Sorry I’m away from the planet right now. I’m fucking dead” Five mentioned
“Well at least I won’t get arrested anymore and have to bullshit my way out of court hearings for just wanting to do good for the people.” Zero said eating a fry off her plate
“No more tax, no more criminal records, no more getting arrested by the pigs just for being naked or just casual stuff. You know, being naked, getting drunk, casual stuff.” Four shrugged taking a sip from his beer
“And how many times has that happened to you? Or did that happen to someone else” Three teased at him
“Too many times I can tell you that” Zero mumbled as she took a sip of her beer causing the table to go quiet before Five spoke up again
“You know the best part about being dead? No more immigration lines.” she said as seven looked at her before finishing
“Don’t look at me like that. I’m fucking American.”
“I’m illegal” three said shrugging like it wasn’t a big deal for him anymore
“You guys sure are cynical”
“How about high blood pressure? Fuck you high blood pressure. I’ll eat whatever the fuck I want. Thank you very much” Three finished getting ready to finish the rest of his food
“You realize you’re actually still alive, right?” Two asked him as he looked at her before reaching for the salt when One started to mess with the salt and pepper with magnets from his phone as three began to get annoyed
“Fuck you, too, technology.”
“Hey without technology I wouldn’t be in this group”
The group remained quiet as they continued to eat their food before One spoke up
“You guys, you got it all wrong, you know. The best thing about being dead...is the freedom” he said as Zero raised her glass
“I mean, we’re all going to die. May as well do it while we’re alive, right? When you’re young, you lock yourselves into all these bad decisions. You know, marriages, relationships, mortgages, and all that kind of stuff. But you die...it’s all erased. Poof! Gone. from that point forward, all that matters is what you choose, and that you choose carefully.” he stated targeting his last few words at Four and Zero before continuing
“The point is that we should bring Seven behind the curtain. Three, hand me those.” he finished gesturing to three to get the cups near them
“Okay, here we go. Alright, a little demonstration with no technology. This is how to stage a coup in three no-so-easy steps.” One started as everyone looked at each other
“Alright, you got a country, Turgistan, yeah? These are the people, nice people, going about and doing their thing. Then you have the four generals, cuatro cunts, very bad guys. But there’s one worse guy. That’s the piece-of-shit dictator. Right at the top” he said raising the sugar container and putting it on top of the glasses
“Don’t forget his brother.” two said while handing him the pepper
“Democracy-loving brother.” three added
“He’s being held somewhere in Hong Kong from what I could gather but I couldn’t find the exact location” Zero said looking down at her lap
“That is why, we’re going to hit the four generals. Once we do, you’ll get his exact location and lead us to him.”
“If you kill top generals, you fuck a dictators day.”
“The second thing, after we free the brother, and the last thing is we’re going to say goodbye piece-of-shit dictator, and hello to democracy-loving brother.” One finished as three began to talk
“It all goes down in four months. El Día de los Muertos. The Day of the Dead.”
Seven looked around to see if anyone was going to talk or if they were finished before talking
“That’s pretty simple. But those were cups. So, we’re all going to die?”
“Not me” two said
“Yeah, she never dies.”
“But we all are. Painfully.”
“You guys are too funny. So what else can you tell me about this Rovach guy in Turgistan.” Seven asked before they all left
The rest of the night was a blur for all of them. As One continued to show Seven everything about what they do, Zero was in her trailer  seeing that she didn’t want to be bothered by anyone. Four felt like it was mainly his fault that she was locked away in her trailer because it was usually her that showed all the new people about everything with what they do. When he passed by it, he overheard noise and peeped through her window to find her on her bed watching what he guessed were old home videos. She managed to make copies before she died knowing that she was going to miss them and wanted something to remember them by. She never told anyone about it but she also checks up on her family through social media under a fake account that’s untraceable and it felt like her parents were doing better since her death. Four backed away and began to question what she meant after he talked about being arrested and how she knew about the multiple times it has happened. Zero raised her head and looked behind her window to see what happened but by the time she felt something, they had left.
Birthday Surprise
Tumblr media
A/N: As usual, Gif is not mine, whoops.
Pairing: Pre Ghost Billy x Fem Reader
Word Count: 4500
Warnings: Swearing and pot smoking
“Happy birthday to me” She groaned as she blindly smacked at her alarm clock. Flipping the blanket off of her face she huffed and blew some wild hairs out of her face before standing up and dragging herself to the shower. Only once the water was steaming and as hot as she could handle, did she step inside and let a happy groan escape.
“Y/n! Billy and Chris are here!” Her dad shouted down the basement stairs while she was still in the shower.
“Alright! Send them down!” She poked her soapy head out of the curtain and seconds later she could hear the stampede of feet down the stairs, both boys singing a rather horrible rendition of Happy Birthday, making her laugh loudly.
“Happy birthday Y/n!!” They both screamed and she could see their silhouettes outside of the light green shower curtain.
“Thank you guys,” She stuck her still soapy face out once more and both boys planted a kiss on either cheek. “But I am a little busy at the moment.” She closed her eyes quickly at the soap sliding down her forehead.
“Something we can help you with there, Y/n?” Billy grabbed the curtain from her but she pulled it closed quickly, making him laugh deeply. “You ain't even gotta open your eyes, love.” He and Chris, who you had called Rango for years, both laughed.
“Ha-ha.” She mocked laughed, “Just give me a second and I'll be out, can you find me a towel?” She chuckled, ignoring the feeling in her belly. Chris laughed easily and she was quick to add, “A real towel this time, Rango, not a hand towel.” She could hear him snap his fingers softly.
“I got you, girl.” He grabbed a towel from the shelf and tossed it into the dryer for her and she smiled.
“You're literally the best, buddy.” Y/n cooed, finishing rinsing her hair.
“What’s the plan, Y/n?” Billy asked loudly, and Y/n smiled to herself, knowing that he had flopped himself onto her bed in the next room. “We skippin’ today?” No matter how many years she knew Billy, his easy accent never failed to make her belly flutter.
“I haven't decided yet, but my mom is supposed to be coming through later, so I'm gonna have to stop and see her at some point.” Y/n’s heart fluttered at the thought of her mom coming, mainly who she would be bringing with her, but the boys didn't need to know about that part. She wasn't sure if she would be able to focus on school work today, not with what was going to be waiting for her. That and the fact that her two best friends in the entire world were willing to skip with her made her decision for her. “It’s been decided!” She shouted, turning off the water to emphasize her point.
“Wait!” Chris yelled and his footsteps were heard running across the basement floor, when the dryer slammed closed he scrambled back in front of the shower with his hand over his eyes, but you could see them spreading open slowly, the smirk on his face getting wider. “Come on, Y/n, reach for it!” He laughed.
“Come on, Rango, just give me the towel, it's freezing!” Y/n whined, sticking her arm out of the shower. He laughed once more before shoving the still-warm towel into her hand. Drying herself quickly and wrapping the towel around herself she stepped out of warmth and shivered immediately. “Alright, other room so I can get dressed.” She snapped her fingers and both boys went with a sarcastic grumble.
Once she dressed quickly to avoid anymore cold chills and rubbing the damp towel over her hair. “Alright boys,” Y/n smirked as she walked in and they were both looking at old pictures on the walls. “What are we doing today?” He walked over and pulled them both together, hooking her arms around their necks.
“It's your birthday, babe, what do you wanna do?” Billy reached up and patted the side of her face. Chris on the other hand was laughing so hard his shoulders were shaking looking at pictures on her wall.
“Hey! Those are great pictures, alright? We were just kids back then, man.” Y/n laughed pulling up a picture of the three of them in halloween costumes, around 6 years old. “It's been the three of us against everything since diapers, guys. We’re freaking graduating this year.”
“Well except the year you went to live with your mom.” Billy grumbled, obviously still not over that fact.
“Oh don't frown, darling, it's not cute.” She grabbed his cheeks and squeezed, shaking his head lightly making him crack a smile. “Better.” They all laughed and Y/n clapped her hands. “Coffee, smoke with dad, raise hell?” She questioned, putting both of her hands out, palms up.
“You got it, boss.” Chris slapped his hand against hers, like they had done for many years, and ran upstairs. Y/n could hear him already chattering away to her father.
“You coming?” Y/n kept her hand up-turned and looked at the man closely. “What’s wrong, bud?”
Billy looked at his best friend, seeing the genuine concern in her eyes and shook his head softly, giving her a small smile. “Nothings wrong, Y/n. Just remembering how much it sucked being stuck with Rango while you were gone.” He laughed, It totally wasn't because I was afraid you would never come back, no, of course not, he thought to himself shaking his head again. This time he reached out and slapped his hand onto hers like Chris had done and she smiled at him brightly. She’s going to be the death of me. He smiled back and they both took off up the stairs.
-
“So what are your plans for today Y/n?” Y/n’s dad asked once the three of them were upstairs and seated around the dining room table, passing around a freshly packed ‘birthday bowl’ her dad called it. “Don't forget your mother is coming later,” He gave her a knowing look and she nodded happily.
“Oh, there is no way I could forget!” Y/n smiled happily, “I think I may skip classes today though, I don't think I can focus, plus,” She raised a finger quickly when her dad opened his mouth to protest, “It is my birthday.”
“I will not allow you to skip, but what you three do when you leave here is none of my business.” Her dad raised his hands and looked away, making the three teenagers laugh. “I don't want to hear any plans now though, because then I will be an accomplice.”
“You got it daddio,” Chris shot her dad the finger guns and her dad shook his head. “We’ve talked about this man.” He shook his head harder. “If you must call me anything, call me Paul.”
“Dad? Pops?” Chris tried, and Paul looked like he was going to think about it but shook his head.
“I lied, don't even use my real name.”
“You got, Dean.” Paul shot him a thumbs up and everyone laughed again. “Ok,” Chris started again after their laughter died down. “What really is the plan?”
“Go to class.” Y/n shrugged, winking at her dad, who threw his hands in the air in mock exasperation. “But we really should be going soon,” She looked at her phone. “My mom will be coming around one o'clock and I wanna be back up that way before then.”
“Thanks for the smoke, Jake!” Chris shouted as he walked out the back door, throwing a peace sign in the air. Y/n rolled her eyes and gave her father a kiss on the cheek and waved him goodbye, Billy nodding his head at the man before he followed.
Once they were outside, Chris and Billy both looked to Y/n, who stood on the porch just a step above them. When she started pacing back and forth with her hands clasped behind her back like an army general, both boys stood straighter, hands stiff at their sides.
“Alright, men.” She spoke in a deep voice, “Today we take down our enemy.” She spun harshly on her heel and turned around again. “Our enemy? Continuing a single day more being un pierced.” Billy dropped his head in laughter and Chris’s mouth gaped open, before they both rested their faces, mock seriousness returning. “Today we face our fears, today we add a truly useless hole to our bodies.” She stopped in front of them. “Are you ready?”
“Yes sir!” Both boys shouted in unison and raised their arms in a salute, the three of them saluted each other, none of them breaking the serious moment.
“You three are idiots.” Paul said, hanging half out the back door, hand in the mailbox.
-
Y/n smiled brightly at their backs as the boys both ran ahead, climbing walls and jumping over each other with the ease of many years of practice and trust. Billy was jumping back and forth between two pillars, getting closer to the top with every jump, huge grin on his face.
“I don't know how you can manage to still do that, man.” Chris huffed, standing beside Y/n with a cigarette between his fingers, passing one to Y/n. Both of them looked up, Billy almost to the roof now.
“Don't be a pussy, Rango, this is fun!” Billy grunted out, hand slipping and Y/n gasped, but he pulled himself up with the hand already on the roof. “Don't worry, love. I'm alright.” He winked at her, dangling his legs off the edge, chest raising and falling quickly.
“Are you done now, monkey boy?” She put her hand over her eyes to block the sun as she looked up at him. He looks like an angel, her brain supplied and she looked away quickly. “We’ve got places to be and things to get pierced!”
Billy shot her a smile and began his descent to the ground, Y/n grinning when he landed on his ass in front of her. “Meant to do that.” He grinned and held his hand out to her, when she reached her hand to him instead of pulling himself up, he pulled her down with him. Billy wrapped her in his arms and she struggled, to save face of course, because she wouldn't let him know how badly she wanted to be in his arms every night. “Just accept it, love, accept it.” Billy cooed in her ear, causing the hair on her arms to stand up straight with goosebumps.
“Let’s go, guys, flirt later.” Chris rolled his eyes, smiling at the two of them. He knew. Chris may have been an idiot but there is no way that he could miss the looks that his two best friends gave each other. “Let’s go, let’s go.” He clapped his hands, ushering them both up.
-
After taking much longer than it should have the three friends, panting and smiling, made it to the tattoo and piercing shop. Y/n set her shoulders back and pushed open the door, not waiting for the other two. “Alright boys, this is it.” She clapped her hands, rubbing them together. “Who knows what they want?” Looking back at the boys, Billy with a wild smile but Chris looked like he was going to be sick.
“Well I know what I want, so I'll go first.” Billy winked at her, unzipping his blue hoodie and throwing it onto Chris who batted it away. Billy walked to the counter and whispered to the man behind the counter who nodded quickly, holding out his hand and Billy slapped his ID into the man's hands. “Wanna be matching, Y/n?” He winked at her as he pulled off his t-shirt.
Y/n blushed instantly, and Billy smiled at her, “I will not be taking my top off in front of you idiots.” She rolled her eyes.
“Nothing I haven’t seen before, love.” Chris’s eyes widened and Y/n blushed again, hiding her face.
“Wait, what?” Chris looked back and forth between the two of them but when neither would look at him, he rolled his eyes. “I always get left out of everything.”
“You can join us next time, buddy.” Billy grinned at her and Y/n stuck her tongue out at him.
“There will be no next time!” She shouted.
“Why wasn't I told about the first time?!” Chris waved his hands wildly, Y/n waved her hand in his direction dismissively.
“Are we doing this or what?” The man behind the counter asked with an amused smile on his face. Billy nodded and hopped up onto the chair the guy had set up while they were talking. “I don't get many guys in here asking for nipple piercings.” He chuckled and Billy laughed with him.
“I'm not most guys, mate.”
-
Once the three of them were all sporting red and swollen new piercings, Billy pulling his shirt loosely over his torso with a pained face, Chris rubbing his temple careful not to touch the new eyebrow ring, and Y/n trying not to sneeze and irritate the new stud in her nose.
“Well that was a few hours killed, what now?” Chris asked, stretching his arms upwards. Y/n pulled out her phone and checked the time.
“It's ten now, so lets head back up town and we can grab something to eat on the way. I gotta be at Dan’s house by twelve thirty.” Y/n smiled to herself, catching Chris’s eye. “We can meet up after I'm done with my mom, yeah?” Billy nodded back.
“I’ve got a few things that need done before tonight anyways, so i'm gonna bail out now.” Billy leaned forward, pulling Y/n into a careful hug and reaching out to bump fists with Chris. “Let me know what's happening.” He smiled at them both and took off at a run down the street.
“We’ve got to discuss this, you know that right?” Chris looked at Y/n with a stern face. “Why didn't you tell me?”
Y/n rolled her eyes, turning to walk back the other direction. “It wasn't important.” She shrugged. “Where do you want to eat?”
“Don't change the subject, Y/n.” Chris stepped in front of her and she sighed heavily. “This is massive, Y/n, why didn't you tell me?” He put his hands on her shoulders. “When was this?”
Y/n dropped her head to her chest, “Beginning of summer before junior year, it really wasn't a big deal, man.” She shrugged her shoulders, but not convincingly. His eyes widened. “Stop it, Rango. Don't think about it too much. Can we just go get something to eat?”
“Y/n..” Chris tapped her shoulder quickly, “Don't tell me..” His eyes closed and he sighed when she wouldn't meet his eyes. “Jesus, Y/n.”
“I'm done talking about this, Chris.” Y/n threw her hands in the air and started walking back up the street. “Are you coming or not?” She shouted over her shoulder, Chris ran his hand through his hair and jogged up to her side.
The two of them walked in silence until they got to a pizza place just a few blocks from where she would be meeting her mom. Neither one spoke while they ate, Y/n not even meeting her best friend's eyes. Everything is ruined now, she thought to herself, he’s going to figure it out. She kept pushing a piece of pepperoni around her plate.
“Just say it, Y/n.” Chris pleaded suddenly, “You know I have so many things running through my head right now, please just tell me what happened so I can fucking relax.” Y/n stopped playing with her food and slowly picked her head up to face him. “Just tell me.”
“It was the end of year bonfire, we just got a little drunk and a little too frisky is all, we decided to just forget about it and move on. That’s why you weren’t informed.” She explained, keeping her gaze locked on him. “Nothing became of it, so that was that.” She looked at her watch, “I've got to get to Dan’s, but I will see you later, yeah? Look i'm sorry we didn't tell you, ok? Love you.” Y/n stood quickly, starting to feel like she was running late, her clock reading 12:15. She kissed his cheek and he mumbled his goodbyes to her back as she ran out of the restaurant.
“You’re a goddamn liar.” Chris mumbled, throwing a bill on the table, he grabbed his hoodie and ran out after her. Pulling a cigarette from his pocket, he slowed his walk until she was about a block ahead. Chris hated following her like this, but she was hiding something from him and he was going to figure out what it was. Y/n didn't keep secrets and suddenly he felt like he had missed something crucial. He knew exactly where Y/n was headed, so he wasn't worried about moving to keep up with her, but once she turned off the road he was cutting through yards to keep the distance short without being seen.
Y/n stopped at her uncle’s house, sitting on the porch, leg bouncing away. Chris was watching his phone clock tick on, lighting up a cigarette off the other one. “What are you up to Y/n.” He questioned quietly to himself.
-
Y/n sat on her uncle's porch, nearly vibrating with excitement, wishing she had grabbed a cigarette before she left Chris. She looked behind her when she heard the door open, “Hey Uncle Dan.” She smiled up at him and he patted her forehead softly. Dan, as usual, was holding a beer in his hand, clothes still stained from his day job as a painter. “Got a smoke I can get?” Dan nodded his head wordlessly, pulling the pack out of his overalls.
Y/n smiled a thanks at him as he handed her a lighter, lighting one of his own and letting it hang from his lips. “My sister on her way?” He asked her gruffly, getting an excited nod in return. “She coming alone?” He glanced down at the girl and she smiled back, shaking her head.
“It’s been months Dan.”
“I know, kiddo.”
-
Y/n stood abruptly and it caught Chris’s attention as a truck pulled into the driveway and Y/n ran towards it. Mom’s here, Chris smiled at the woman as she got out and wrapped her daughter in a huge hug. When the two women went towards the back seat, Chris stepped closer. No way. When the back door opened and Y/n started crying, he knew. Holy shit. When Y/n reemerged from the back seat holding a small child Chris’s jaw dropped, no longer caring about staying hidden, pulling out his phone as he crossed through the yards.
-
“Mom!” Y/n shouted, jumping off of the porch and throwing herself into the woman's arms. “Where is she?” She clapped her hands quickly and her mother smiled at her.
“She's in the backseat, Y/n. What did you think that I would forget her?” The woman laughed as Y/n ripped open the back door, tears instantly streaming down her face at the sight before her.
The little girl, just a year old, smiled brightly at her, waving her hands around wildly. “Hi baby!” Y/n cooed happily, making grabby hands at the child who reached her arms towards her. Carefully unbuckling the squirming child and removing her from the car seat, she climbed back out of the vehicle, hoisting the girl on to her hip. “Happy Birthday babygirl.” Y/n kissed the child’s head.
“You look good like this, Y/n.” Her mother smiled at her daughter a little sadly. “She misses you, you know.” Her mother ran a hand over both girls’ face’s. Y/n smiled at her mother just as sadly, nodding her head as more tears rolled down her face.
“I miss her too, ma, I really do. It's hard to believe that she’s already a year old.” Y/n looked at the little girl, eyes full of wonder.
“Um, Y/n..” Her mother warned, a smile plastered on her face. “Incoming.”
Y/n whipped her head around quickly, seeing Chris crossing the street, not bothering to even look. “Shit.” Y/n whispered, arms tightening around the little girl. He stopped right in front of Y/n, eyes flashing between his best friend and the small child. “Did you follow me, Rango?” She admonished him softly, no real malice behind it.
“Hello, Christopher,” Y/n’s mother smiled at the boy, but his eyes never even met hers in acknowledgement. She nodded her head and touched Y/n’s shoulder lightly before retreating to the porch.
“I knew you were hiding something from me.” He whispered, his own eyes slowly filling with tears. Y/n tore her eyes away from him when she heard the hurt in his voice. “I knew it was more than you told me earlier, I knew.”
“You have to know that this was for the best,” She tried to explain when she looked down, seeing his phone in his hand. “Oh shit, Rango, you didn't..” Y/n’s eyes widened as she started shaking her head quickly. “Please tell me you didn't.”
The two of them locked eyes and silence passed between them, the little girl in Y/n’s arms cooing is what broke the tension. Chris smiled down at the little girl and she waved her hands at him. Y/n chuckled lightly, looking at Chris once more. “Do you want to hold her?” She asked him almost shyly. When he nodded, mouth wide open, she smiled. “Go see your uncle Rango, babygirl.” He extended his hands to the girl and she reached for him.
“I'm so sorry, Y/n.” Chris said to the little girl, eyes flicking to his friend. “I panicked and I called him.”
Y/n nodded her head sadly, running her hand through the child’s hair. “Her name is Amelia, and today is her birthday.” She explained, Chris looked at her with a smile.
“Hell of a birthday present for you, isn't it?” He laughed and Y/n nodded.
“It was not a pleasant gift at the time, but then I saw her face.”
“She looks like you, you know.” Chris beamed at her, laughing lightly. “Better you over her daddy.” Y/n froze at the word and his own smile faltered a bit. “Wow, that word was a lot heavier than I could have imagined. What do you want me to do?” Y/n sighed and shrugged her shoulders, laying her head onto his shoulder. Amelia reached and grabbed at her face, Y/n playfully growling and pretending to bite at the little girl’s fingers, making her squeal and both of them laugh.
Y/n laid a blanket down on the grass and Chris lowered Amelia to it, the girl immediately crawled towards the grass. Y/n smiled, waving a hand and telling him to let her go, “She loves the grass.” Y/n sat in the grass herself and her mother called from the porch. “Just like her mama.” Y/n smiled up at her, that word hanging just as heavy in Chris’s ears.
Chris sat behind Y/n, causing her to turn to face him with her back to the road. The two of them watching Amelia pull grass from the earth and throwing it into the air, smiling when it blew right back into her face. When Chris glanced over her shoulder, he saw him. Billy was approaching them quickly and Chris’s mind went into overdrive.
“What are you going to tell him?” He asked her once he knew Billy was in earshot.
“Billy?” She questioned, when Chris nodded his head, Billy stopped walking. “I mean what am I supposed to tell him?” She sat up straighter, crossing her legs under her. “Hey Billy, you remember that night that we decided was better left not talked about? Remember how I left for a whole goddamn year?” She mocked, pointing her hands dramatically at Amelia. “Well this is what happened.” Y/n chuckled dryly, rolling her eyes.
“Well I hope that was good enough.” Chris stood up, brushing the grass from his pants. Y/n looked up at him in confusion. Chris nodded his head over her shoulder and her heart stopped. “Better out than in right?” He patted her shoulder and walked onto the porch with Y/n’s mother.
“Y/n..” Billy's voice came from behind her and she closed her eyes tightly, willing this to be a dream.
“Oh fuck.” She breathed out when he touched her shoulder, this was not a dream. “Billy.” His name was a whisper as it left her lips.
Billy stepped around her and sat cross legged in front of her, eyes wide and breathing hard. He didn't trust his voice to work so he just stared at her, wordlessly willing her to look at him. Y/n kept her eyes closed tightly, picking at a random spot on her shoe. Billy cleared his throat and when she opened her eyes and looked at him, the dam broke and more tears fell down her cheeks. Billy reached out his hand and wiped them away, eyes never leaving hers.
“Why didn't you tell me?” He whispered and she sighed heavily.
“I didn't think you would want this in your life.” Y/n shrugged, turning her head to look at her little girl. “I wasn't ready and I knew you wouldn't be either. Apparently this is the time, though.” She made grabby hands at Amelia and the girl crawled right over to her. She picked her up and set Amelia down in her lap, facing Billy. Amelia looked up at him and smiled brightly. “Billy, I want you to meet someone.” She grabbed a hold of her daughters hands and spread them open wide, “This is Amelia.” She looked Billy directly in the eyes and took a deep breath. “Your daughter.”
Billy took a shaky deep breath in and blew it out slowly. “Our daughter.” He whispered and Y/n smiled at him. “Amelia. I like that.” He smiled at the little girl, holding his hands out to her. Amelia grabbed a hold of his fingers and pulled herself up, bouncing lightly and gurgling the whole time. “Hello, Amelia.” He cooed and she giggled. Billy looked at the girl, glancing between the happy baby and her smiling mother. “Y/n, I want this.”
Y/n’s eyes snapped to him, her smile only growing wider. “I want this too.”
Amelia picked that moment to take a step towards Billy, toppling herself backwards in the process. Both Y/n and Billy reached forward, heads inches apart. Amelia who was sitting on the ground now, cooed up at the two of them. Billy nudged his nose into Y/n’s cheek, and when she turned her face towards him, he brushed his lips lightly over hers. Amelia clapped her hands together and they both laughed.
“She’s been waiting for this as long as we have.” Chris laughed out and Y/n’s mom laughed and nodded her head.
“You said it.” She agreed, smiling down at her daughter’s family, finally together.
6 Underground ficlet Part II
Word Count: 1,315
Read Part I here
While yeah, it sucked you had to stay behind when the team went off on their mini mission to Sicily because according to One “someone has to watch the dog”, at least you got a phone call from Six about how well it went.
You were dying to ask about Four.
Did he say anything about you? Was he thinking about you?
Did he miss you?
You were certain Six found you absolutely insufferable, but he took it all in stride saying he’d pass along a message for you.
“Tell him to bring me back a souvenir. I will accept food or alcohol,” you joked.
Six laughed. “Yeah, and do you want that with a bouquet of roses too?” he teased
“Haha. Shut up,” you replied flatly, rolling your eyes, fighting a smile. “Call me when you leave Italy.”
 And then he never did.
You waited. And waited.
Surprisingly enough, Four called you. At first, you were exhilarated just to hear his voice. Then he delivered the worst possible news and suddenly you just wanted the conversation to be over.
You didn’t sleep after that. You couldn’t.
All you could do was wait for the team to return.
As soon as the jet touched down you were there.
One steadfastly avoided looking in your direction. He brushed right past you and headed straight for his trailer. There was work to be done...and he was determined to throw himself into it before he fell into a pit of self loathing so deep there was no escape.
Fact number one: There was no body to bury.
“I didn’t even get to say goodbye,” you sniffled, curling further into yourself.
Four pressed a wad of tissues into your hand which you gratefully accepted.
He didn’t know what to say.
Fact two: You hadn’t even known Six's real name.
How were you supposed to mourn someone if you didn’t even know their name?
Your world had shrunk exponentially when you cut all ties to your old life. And it was still shrinking.
One stood in the way of you boarding the jet.
You struggled to shoulder past him. He refused to budge.
You bared your teeth in anger. “I’m not fucking staying behind again. Get the fuck out of my way!”
The other ghosts stood behind you, not yet boarded, waiting to see how this played out.
One's eyes scanned your own, the wheels turning in his head. “Who’s going to watch Wally if you come with us? Think about it Zero. If you leave him alone here for who knows how long, that’s animal abuse,” he tried to rationalize in that condescending tone of his.
“I’ll fucking take him with me! Now move! I’m coming with you!” you shouted at him as frustrated tears streamed down your face.
One had his arms around you in an attempt to push you back, but at this point he was basically hugging you to him. “You can’t come with us. You have to stay here, kid. Where I know you'll be safe.” He had dropped the condescending tone and if you didn’t know any better, you say he sounded a little vulnerable right then.
Of all people, it was the new guy who convinced you to stay behind.
Seven placed a hand on your shoulder, gave you one long hard look and said, “I’ll look out for everyone, don’t you worry. I’m a sniper. It’s what I do.”
There was a long pause as a battle raged inside you.
Begrudgingly, you nodded your assent and backed away from the jet’s entrance. The other ghosts parted to let you by. Four lingered behind while they boarded.
It was just the two of you on the tarmac.
You took in the sight of him as though it was the last time you’d have the chance to do so. He was so heart achingly beautiful. You didn’t want to forget for a single moment what he looked like.
“I guess this is goodbye,” he murmured, smiling weakly.
You roughly wiped away the drying tears on your face. “For now. Just for now.”
He adjusted his grip on his bag. “I’ll call you when I can.”
You nodded, glancing away. “And I’ll be watching the news for when you finally take this bad guy down.”
He grew quiet. Shuffled his feet.
“Hey.” He reached for you and you gladly fell into his embrace.
“You better come back in one piece,” you mumbled into his chest.
He pecked a kiss on the top of your head and smirked. “Who do you think you’re talking to? I’m a professional.”
“Let’s get a move on! This coup isn’t going to d’etat itself!” One yelled from the jet’s interior.
You both chuckled, letting each other go.
“Two must be rolling her eyes so hard right now,” Four said.
You punched his shoulder playfully, “Go break a leg already.”
The next time Four called you, he surprised you with four seemingly innocuous words.
“My name is Billy.”
There was no “hi” or any other form of greeting when you picked up the phone on the first ring. Just those four words you didn’t know what to make of.
You had been completely absorbed in the news coverage on the Turgistan coup for hours, eyes glued to the computer screen.
They had done it. One’s crazy plan had actually worked.
Your chest glowed with pride.
Then came the phone call.
My. Name. Is. Billy.
Billy.
His name rang in your ears.
"...But what about the rules?" you asked, clearly flustered.
Your face felt hot. Here and now you finally had his name. Here he offered you a secret you coveted and now it felt like everything about your friendship was changing.
"Fuck the rules," he laughed breathlessly.
Exhilarated, you laughed too. "My name is Y/N."
...
You met the ghost’s on the tarmac when they returned from Turgistan and the first thing you noticed when you laid eyes on Four again was his arm in a sling.
Your eyes bugged out of your skull.
"I said break a leg! Not break an arm!" you fretted. "Shit, are you ok Billy?"
You watched his eyes light up with elated disbelief as the sound of his real name left your lips and then he was dropping his bag and surging forward to wrap his arms around you.
“I thought I was never going to see you again,” he murmured by your ear.
Your heart seized.
“For a minute there I thought I was a goner. All I could think about was you. But I didn’t even know your name and if I died I never would. It was scary,” he admitted. “Before all this I didn’t have a lot of people in my life who cared about me…”
When he started to trail off, you couldn’t control yourself and you blurted out without thinking, “Do you want to go steady with me?”
Billy snorted before pulling away so he could look at you.
“Have you been watching those old shows One keeps around?” he teased.
You glowered at him for a long moment before the expression weakened into something softer. He seemed a little taken aback by the change.
You gazed at him from beneath you eyelashes.
“Be with me,” you pleaded quietly.
He cupped your face gently and met your gaze dead on. “I’d love to.”
“Hey! Get a room!” Five, or Amelia according to Billy, poked fun at them with a wide grin.
“They grow up so fast,” you heard One say.
“I think they’re cute together,” Seven countered.
The other ghosts chuckled as they headed to the haunted house.
Billy turned his attention back to you and cocked his head. “How do you feel about going somewhere warm until the next mission?”
Your entire face lit up. “I’d love to,” you echoed his earlier words with a grin.
